Jon Bon Jovi's Mother, Carol Bongiovi, Passes Away at 83

Carol Bongiovi, mother of rock icon and New Jersey native Jon Bon Jovi passed away on Tuesday (July 9) at the age of 83, just three days shy of her 84th birthday. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Carol Bongiovi was a significant figure in her son's career, having founded his fan club and encouraged his musical ambitions from a young age.

"Our mother was a force to be reckoned with, her spirit and can-do attitude shaped this family," Bon Jovi said in a statement to Rolling Stone.

Carol Bongiovi is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Bongiovi Sr., her three sons, and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be private.
