Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre debuted another piece of their highly-anticipated collaborative album.
On Sunday, November 17, Snoop and Dre sat down with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN for a live edition of Drink Champs at ComplexCon 2024 in Las Vegas. During the historic episode, the West Coast legends opened up about making their upcoming LP Missionary. Snoop said he wanted to finish the project in a couple of weeks but two weeks quickly turned into two years. Later on, the duo decided to preview several unreleased tracks from the album. One song has both artists trading bars back-and-forth while the other samples The Police's "Message In A Bottle."
Snoop and Dre have spent the past few years working on their new body of work. Missionary serves as the follow-up to Snoop Dogg's debut album Doggystyle, which was also executive produced by Dr. Dre. The duo sparked rumors about a new album shortly after they hit the stage for their award-winning Super Bowl performance in 2022. A few months later, Snoop Dogg revealed the album title during his appearance on Stephen A. Smith's K[no]w Mercy podcast.
The project was originally supposed to arrive in November 2022 in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Snoop's first studio album. However, the plans were pushed back a couple of times before the duo finally confirmed December 13 as the official release date. The 15-track album is led by Snoop's recent single "Gorgeous" featuring Jhené Aiko and also includes other collaborations with Eminem, 50 Cent, Method Man, Jelly Roll, Sting, Tom Petty and BJ The Chicago Kid.
