Kendrick Lamar earned another incredible accolade thanks to his brand-new album.
According to Hits Daily Double, K-Dot's GNX album sold over 324,000 equivalent album units as of November 28. His first-week sales include 289,673 streaming equivalent albums (SEA), 1,987 track equivalent albums (TEA), and 32,625 pure album sales. It debuted at No. 1 and outsold the Wicked soundtrack, which sold over 129,000 copies. The 12-track project is Lamar's fifth consecutive No. 1 album following other hit albums like To Pimp a Butterfly (2015), Untitled Unmastered (2016), DAMN. (2017) and his 2022 LP Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.
GNX features popular songs like "squabble up," "luther" featuring SZA, "heart pt. 6," "dodger blue" featuring Roddy Ricch, Wallie the Sensei & Siete7x. It also features "tv off" featuring Lefty Gunplay, which has sparked a slew of memes and jokes thanks to the epic shout-out to Mustard. In addition to Mustard, revered beatmakers like Sounwave, Jack Antonoff, Terrace Martin and others helped produce the album. GNX also features contributions from newcomers like DODY6, Hitta J3, Peysoh, YoungThreat and AzChike.
Kendrick Lamar's sixth studio album arrived ahead of his anticipated headlining set at the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. Fans are hyped to see Lamar perform his latest hits from the album and possibly more new music. According to Lefty Gunplay, Lamar plans to drop the deluxe version of the album soon.
“I know he’s got a deluxe version coming out,” Lefty told Bootleg Kev last week. “So I don’t know what he’s got going on. He’s very [secretive], but when you kick it with him in person he’s cool man.”
