A Changing View of Love and Marriage
February 14, 2025
Is the idea of marriage making a comeback?
After several decades of higher divorce rates, maybe.
Some new research has found that today’s young adults are more in favor of marriage than young adults 20 years ago when nearly 40-percent thought marriage was irrelevant.
Among today’s young adults, just half as many of them have that same view.
And this survey of Gen Z’ers also found that this generation is taking relationships more seriously.
The researchers say these younger people’s perspective of marriage has changed, from the generations before them, largely due to many of them having gone through having watched their parents split up which changed their views and willingness to marry.
The study actually found that Gen Z’ers have a more idealistic attitude about marriage.
Many saying they want to find their soulmates and more than 40 percent of them saying they are in serious relationships and nearly 30-percent saying they are looking for “the one.
An overwhelming 93 percent of this younger generation say they were now more interested in the idea of marriage.
We all often learn from what we go through in the past, so maybe these Gen Z’ers don’t see tying the knot as something to avoid but to embrace.
