Conan O'Brien didn't waste any time in making people laugh during his opening number at the 2025 Oscars.
The comedian and host of the 97th Academy Awards made a wild entrance on Sunday night, March 2, following Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's stunning performance. It began with *that* scene in The Substance when Demi Moore gets her new body. Instead of Moore's younger self, Conan O'Brien crawls out of the actress' body while wearing a black tuxedo. The sketch gets even more hilarious when he realizes he forgot his shoe and drives back into Moore's body to get it.

Conan O'Brien eventually made his way to the stage and confronted Moore, who was seated near the stage. O'Brien asked for her thoughts and she said it was "awkward" but they laughed it off. He continued his opening monologue and cracked more jokes. After mentioning a few notable actors in the crowd, O'Brien singled out Emilia Perez actress Karla Sofía Gascón and referenced the controversy over her racist posts on social media.
"And Karla, if you are going to tweet about the Oscars, my name is Jimmy Kimmel," he said while she was in the crowd.
He also called out Adam Sandler for not wearing a suit for the awards show. The Billy Madison star sat in an aisle seat while rocking a hoodie, basketball shorts and sneakers. Of course, Sandler defended his look, but the host wasn't having it.
"You're dressed like a guy playing video poker at 2 a.m., Adam," O'Brien said.
"Nobody even thought about what I was wearing until you brought it up!" Sandler shouted back.
