Officials in the Bahamas have confirmed that Dinari McAlmont, a 23-year-old American from Bowie, Maryland, died from drowning. McAlmont's body was found on a beach near where he was vacationing with his family. The Royal Bahamas Police Force stated that a post-mortem examination revealed drowning as the cause of death, and they do not suspect foul play at this time. However, the police are still awaiting results from a forensic toxicology test.
Despite the official findings, McAlmont's family is skeptical. His mother, Michelle McAlmont, expressed her belief that her son was beaten, citing visible bruises on his body. "There is foul play," she told WTTG. The family had arrived on the island on Friday (April 4), and McAlmont disappeared after dinner that evening. His body was discovered the following morning.
The incident has raised questions, particularly after reports that McAlmont was sought by police for allegedly spitting on a restaurant staff member. His parents are demanding a full investigation and have hired a lawyer specializing in international relations.
