Speaker 1 (00:00):
Two pros and a cup of Joe. Fox Sports Radio
LeVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here. Coming
up on this Monday edition, the NBA playoffs are here,
well kind of, I mean, listen, we kind of think
we know who's going to advance, but could we see
a potential upset because one seventh seed is.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Not your normal seven seed. We'll get into that for
you here.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
We're also going to talk about the very latest controversy,
if you will, in Boulder, Colorado, Deon Sanders making decisions.
He's talking about the now, He's not talking about the past.
But is it deservingly so that Shador and Travis Hunter
get their jerseys retired and then maybe Dion's on his
way out the door? There could be some speculation about
(00:39):
that as well too. We're also going to get to
the very latest semantics between Aaron Rodgers and the New
York Jets and that departure. We've got Big Dom showing
you his true worth when it comes to the NFL Draft.
We've also got some pocket watching in the NFC West,
and we've got ourselves another edition of In Case you
missed it and FSRIR and Lee's leftovers.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
It's all yours coming up next.
Speaker 1 (00:59):

it is a post Easter edition of this Monday show.
So did the Easter Bunny? Did he visit? Did you
guys have a hunt? Who found the Golden egg? How
things go? How's everybody feeling here on this Monday morning?
Speaker 3 (02:02):
I feel far, I'm.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Good, I feel fine.
Speaker 5 (02:04):
How you guys doing Easter Buddy was good?
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Uh? Sure they died eggs? Yeah, I had a good
time with eggs.
Speaker 6 (02:13):
We did not do that this year. That that is
the smell of the dye. It always got me, even
as a kid, I never found that fun because of
the vinegar.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Yeah, it just it's just so.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
I wasn't around for it. I wouldn't.
Speaker 7 (02:29):
I wouldn't be around for the smell of the eggs
because I wouldn't be around for the eggs being done.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Why not.
Speaker 7 (02:39):
I mean, I'm in the house. I'm present as a
person in the house. I'm just too busy visiting my Easter.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Eggs, you know. Oh no, all right, I would good.
Speaker 7 (02:52):
But no, I'm not around when there or was I
I was outside yesterday. I stayed poolside yesterday. That's what
I did. I didn't come in at all.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
Can I give a big shout out though all the
dads out there, all the dads out there who probably
you know, hid somewhere around fifty to one hundred and
one hundred and fifty two hundred eggs, right forgot no
appreciation for the dads out there who went to a
church service of some sort, mass whatever whatever you went to,
(03:21):
but you drop the family off and then you had
to go find parking and one of the busiest days
of the year. All right, Just a shout out to
all the dads you know, as your kid was just
being a complete disaster and you had to walk outside.
So you're not that guy.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
You're not that family.
Speaker 6 (03:39):
Is that just a shout out to the dads who
will never get enough appreciation for having to battle through
one of the best holidays. But unfortunately, because we're the dads,
we'll get the short end of the stick. Shout out
to you. Okay, round of applause all.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
The dads out there. Hight.
Speaker 7 (03:58):
Yeah, if you did have to go to turn it's
on Easter Sunday. First of all, you're a loser, geez.
Second of all, what's good for you for forgetting Yeah?
Because I mean, you know what, you know what you're
getting yourself into. I would never go to church on
I would. You know. If I'm gonna do church, I'm
gonna do it online. Bro, I'm gonna do it digitally.
(04:19):
I'm going to get my Easter Sunday done. I got
that for that. For the church I'm going to, I'll
be dang. I go pulling up in a park the internet,
You go pulling up to any decent church in their
parking lot is going to be fully fool jam packed.
Like you said, drop off, drop you got to get
(04:40):
close enough to be able.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
To drop them all.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
We had planned to go Saturday night and then saw
that it was a two and a half hour mass
because people were getting baptized. No, no, that's it's not
normally that long. And I told my wife, I was like,
go ahead, we'll go on Sunday. And so she he went,
and my son and I just hung out and speaking
(05:02):
of Yeah, the Pope Francis passed away. The news came
out a short time ago. So Labar, what were you
just saying speaking of about knocking. He didn't want to
go either, I guess was to So was it?
Speaker 5 (05:18):
I mean, was it?
Speaker 6 (05:20):
I think there's that amongst the fact that like it's
arguably the most important Christian holiday, but you know that
is it?
Speaker 5 (05:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (05:30):
That was Christmas?
Speaker 6 (05:31):
I mean the resurrection of Jesus Christ is is what
differentiates Jesus Christ as a savior in the Christianity over
all other religions.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Didn't he have to be born first? Correct?
Speaker 5 (05:42):
But there's been others.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Hey Jose, Hey Coop, I'm just saying, Man, I get it.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
And he defeated death.
Speaker 7 (05:50):
I know, came from from the from the grave, but dang,
don't he got Didn't he have to be little Baby
Jesus first, Sweet Baby Jesus, and the Manger swallowed up
and wrapped up in the Manger verse.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
I'm just saying correct. But again, there's been many others born,
none that have resurrected. So okay, most in Christianity would
tell you that those are the two biggest tallidays.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
But yeah, most would say that.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Okay, okay.
Speaker 6 (06:15):
In fact, I want to say, there's like a not
a conspiracy theory, but there was a whole thought and
idea to the fact that Christmas became big because of
corporate America, not even so much like for any other reason,
Like it became more about Santa.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Claus et cetera.
Speaker 6 (06:29):
Yeah, and was it like Coca col behind that?
Speaker 7 (06:32):
Well, what's crazy is this is the first thing y'all
said was the bunny rabbit?
Speaker 3 (06:36):
How was the Eastern Bundy?
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Isn't that that?
Speaker 5 (06:38):
Like?
Speaker 7 (06:38):
Can we can y'all get be on the same page here, man,
I mean, I'm just saying, is it the bunny rabbit?
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Or is are we going and we're visiting the two?
Speaker 7 (06:46):
Well, I mean it's you know, an aspect. Do we
know where the rock was moved? Has anybody seen it?
Do we know where the rock is. There's a big
old boulder that they did that they put in front
of the site. Do we know where it is?
Speaker 2 (07:01):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 7 (07:01):
Do we know where the barn is where he was
in the manger? Do we know where that is? I'm
not sure. Yeah, okay, that's oh, I don't know. I
was just curious. Do we know where it is? Bethlehem?
I think based on all.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Right, here's what I say. Here's what I know.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
The NBA playoffs are here. That's what I knows.
Speaker 7 (07:29):
Hey, Broh, Steph Curry's baby Jesus is out there on
the basketball court.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
I'll tell you that.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
By the way.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
The fact that the Warriors are a seventh seed that
doesn't feel like a seven seed like that.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Just listen, Here we go, Here we go.
Speaker 7 (07:45):
I told you told me what I told you. The
Warrior is going to be a problem.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Man.
Speaker 7 (07:50):
They are going they are going to be a problem
because Jimmy Butler is a score and can score and
create his own type of opportunities to score. And adding
that just like they had when they had KD having
that element there, all they got to do is d
(08:11):
up if they if they can play good enough defense.
The fact that they were able to overcome Houston's defense
in Houston and pull that game out. That's that's that's
got to be putting people in the West on notice. Man,
you gotta be nervous about it.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
I just wish that they would get to the brink
quicker in the first round because it's really hard for
me to react one way or the other after one
game because the series is so long, Like, it would
not surprise me if all of a sudden, Houston routed
off four straight and the series is over.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Just wouldn't like, that wouldn't surprise me at all.
Speaker 7 (08:48):
I mean, you might not be surprised, but I don't
feel like that's that's likely.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
But I it's just and we've made this point a
really good team too, you made this point before in
previous years. If you just like, if you and they'll
never do it if you the first round. Yeah, because
the TV revenue, I.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
Do, right, Yeah, it's too much money.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Because you would get teams like if you watch the
Hawk's heat game, the playing game, that was fantastic because
they were playing, you know, win or go home, and
you just saw a desperation play out the entire time.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
And I just feel like in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Playoffs, Like did Oklahoma City won by fifty yesterday? What
like at one point Memphis is probably like, yeah, whatever,
we're not going to get this one.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Let's just gun it for a game too, and try.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
To gun it core.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (09:34):
Well maybe like that he ain't have enough game, He
did not have enough ammunition.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
No, he is, Hey, we're.
Speaker 6 (09:46):
Up like sixty eight to thirty six, let's just gun
it from here.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Plays.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
That is a fair comment.
Speaker 6 (09:53):
So I felt that's been the case in the NBA
for a while now, and some of these best of
seven series is when when things start to go wrong,
they just kind of give up.
Speaker 5 (10:02):
There's not many teams.
Speaker 6 (10:03):
Battling back, and and that's kind of it. You sort
of restless starters. You kind of just get through the game.
It happens a little bit in baseball. I feel like
you're not gonna waste some of that some of that
pitching too, to pick up things get out of hand
in the early innings and somebody's longer series. But the
only thing you could do is expand, But then you'd
(10:24):
have to create, you know, more more entry from more teams.
They already kind of have that with a plan and
maybe extend those series and then you cut these down
to like a best of five.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
So I don't know.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
I mean, there's not a there's not a I'm one
hundred percent with you. It does feel like some of
these series, like you know, Miami and Cleveland should be
a little bit more competitive than it was last night,
But like Oklahoma City and Memphis, it's it's just that's
that should be over quick.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Yeah, Okama City.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
Might be the best team in the NBA, and but.
Speaker 6 (10:53):
Some of these other ones, it does feel like the
first rounds of wash and it's really not to the
second round. But until you get anything entertaining to.
Speaker 7 (10:59):
Watch, at least in the NBA playoffs, I mean, record wise,
they definitely have been the most impressive. They got probably
the most impressive players so far. I think the West
is going to be interesting, but listen, I think that,
and I'll continue to say, I think the Clippers are
fools Gold. I think that they might go home in
(11:21):
the first round. I think the Lakers are fools Gold.
I think they might go home in the first round.
Minnesota look really good. They look strong, they look too
fast for the Lakers. The Lakers did not look as
though they were able to keep up with the athletic
ability and the speed of what Minnesota was bringing to
(11:45):
the table. Man is as advertised, it's just a serious team.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Man.
Speaker 7 (11:52):
I just I think that this first round is kind
of playing out the way that if you were you know,
if you're really paying attention to it, it's probably playing
out the way that you would think it would play out.
You know.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
The Pacers, uh, I think.
Speaker 7 (12:05):
They're gonna be too much for for the Bucks, just
just out of pure there's not Jiannis can't do it
by himself like Portois, Somebody, somebody else has got to
get involved and do more. Otherwise it's just not he's
not going to be able to do it by himself.
Kind of felt that when Lillard went out with his ailment,
(12:29):
so that you're seeing a series there that that's kind
of you know, it's going to play out the way
that you thought. Now when you look at the Knicks
and the Pistons, that's an interesting one because that is
that to me, is the one that's the one matchup
that could possibly go back and forth, that could be
a seesaw situation.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
But if Town, if.
Speaker 7 (12:50):
Town shows up and does what he needs to do,
I think that the Knicks will be fine, and I
don't know. I just think that this first round is
going to play out the way that that it should
play out, even if they weren't a higher rated seed
than the team that they're playing against.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
So no surprises, which I.
Speaker 6 (13:07):
Was gonna beg the question Piston's Nicks. Okay, so let's
just assume whoever wins are they getting past the second round?
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Probably not who do they have in the second round?
Speaker 5 (13:21):
Who they beat?
Speaker 7 (13:22):
Yeah, because it's who I mean what like matchup wise,
I'm not looking at the bracket.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
It was like the bigger point is you could take
if I just told you all right, Boston, Cleveland, Oklahoma City,
I think we're good from there, like like one like one,
like one of those teams is gonna win the time.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
I don't think. I don't know.
Speaker 7 (13:45):
I don't think that to be I don't think that
to be Bible. I think Cleveland looks really good. I
think they look really good, and this could be the
year where they're not fools Gold, because they've been fools
Gold as well. I think this is the year that
Oklahoma City makes makes a legitimate run and they're not
fools Gold. Or just young, a young team that's still
(14:08):
trying to figure it out. Obviously, we said that Houston
they lack experience as well, and you saw that play out.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
But I got to tell you you're taking the Warriors. Well,
here's the thing.
Speaker 7 (14:18):
Right if you look at it, we continue to have
these conversations, these ongoing conversations about you know, the comparison
between Bron and MJ. But if this Golden State Warriors
team continues on the tear they were on last night
and they slowed down, I mean they did slow down
at the end of the game, and that that it
(14:40):
kind of gave me like make cause for pause. But
if they're able to continue to play as well as
especially Steph, if Steph can play as well as he
played last night, don't you have to have the conversation
just safe for the sake of Sam and Paul Pierce.
I heard Paul Pierce say this, don't you gotta have
the uncomfort conversation of now looking at Steph Curry as
(15:04):
winning this era of basketball in the NBA. But but
we'll debate that Lebron James is the greatest player.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
He's already got more titles on the Moron.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (15:16):
And he will have our and he will have done
it with three three different teams, like you know, the
pre KD team, the KD team, the post KD team,
like and the post Clay team. By the way, I mean,
he's I just I think there's a lot to be
said about what this man has accomplished, and we don't
really put him up in the conversation of being the
(15:37):
goat of goats, like it's always like a quality. Well
the media, the media is really I mean pretty much
everybody who talks about Yeah, well, Jonas and I've been
advocating for a while man for Steph Curry to be
considered the best ever.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
I mean, we're the ones that have pointed out he's
got a.
Speaker 6 (15:52):
Half lead on right now, let me be very very
clear about something. It is Jordans. Okay, it's Michael Jordan
and then we can start having a conversation about who's.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
After that, all right, Okay.
Speaker 6 (16:04):
I think if you were to look at the pass
that if you look at the past decade or last
fifteen years, there is a debate, no doubt in regards
to Steph and Lebron and their success. Now, if you
were to match them up, because this is basketball and
you get those one on one conversations, we would all
agree Lebron James would win that one on one matchup.
(16:24):
So most people would say, well, Lebron's better than right.
I mean, that's how a lot of people try to justify,
you know, their belief that Lebron would beat Michael Jordan
one on one, or they look at their career stats
and what he's willing to accumulate, which is phenomenal.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
By the way, it would eas beat Michael Jordan one
on one. Boy.
Speaker 7 (16:41):
Look, I don't know that he would beat I don't
know that he would beat Steph Curry one on one.
Steph Curry shoots way too well, man, he'd be blowing Lebron.
Lebron is not a one on one player. Lebron is
a very, very.
Speaker 6 (16:53):
One on one scenario. I understand. I understand what you're saying.
I don't think we need to break this stable much Further,
I'm not sure many people would believe Steph career because
he would.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
Never be able to defend the one. I don't know
that one miss and that's over.
Speaker 6 (17:06):
But anyway, back to the seating, it's always based on
the higher seat who's left. So assuming that Boston beats Orlando,
which they're ahead, that's who the Knicks and Pistons would play.
It feels like it's gonna end up being a little chocky, right,
We're probably gonna have Cleveland play whoever wins, beteening the
Bucks and Pacers, and then looking at Boston play the
(17:27):
winner between the Knicks and the Pistons. But the problem
is you just go all right, or even those matchups
gonna be entertaining.
Speaker 7 (17:36):
I feel if you have some upsets, like if you
have if if you if you see some competitive games,
I think it will be it will be entertaining to watch. Well, right,
but I don't I don't see any of them. I
don't see them coming out, you know. I see Indiana
doing what they need to do. I see Cleveland doing
(17:57):
what they need to do. I certainly see Boston doing
what they need to do. And it's sad because I
don't know that Indiana is the better team over over
the Milwaukee Bucks. They're just shorthanded. I mean, you got
to have at least one more guy, at least one
more and in the best case scenario, you have too.
But you only have one guy that's that's carrying the
(18:20):
load for Milwaukee right now, and that's just not you know,
that's just not going to be good enough for any
team that you're going to play, you know, at this
point in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
So I don't know, I think it could be competitive.
I do. I think it can be competitive in the
next rounds.
Speaker 7 (18:35):
But in terms of looking at and saying, this is
the team that you would assume is going to have
more success, I mean in the East, yeah, I would.
I would think that that's pretty I don't know it's
as clear cut in the West, but I definitely think
in the East you could you could say, you could
probably stand on the fact that the teams are the
teams in the East.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
I just think the only lower seed that I could
see making a run in either conference is Golden State.
And again, they don't feel like a seven seed, like
it just that's not that's not your normal.
Speaker 6 (19:06):
And mostly because it's been such a dramatic shift since
they've gotten Jimmy Butler got it hasn't been there hasn't
really been a revelation since he's gotten there, they've been
one of the best teams in the West. So you
look at some of those like monumental trades in the
trade deadline. We all talked about Luca that created a
spark for the Lakers. We'll see if if they can
find their way out of that series, because it feels
like that's gonna be more of a dogfight because maybe
(19:29):
Minnesota is able to actually win that one. But yeah,
it doesn't feel like Golden State's a seventh seed considering
Jimmy and Steph with that combination.
Speaker 7 (19:39):
But it looks like you're going into Houston. Isn't used
in the number? Are they the number two seed?
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (19:44):
Too, Like it didn't look like it it used to
supposed to. It didn't look like that they were supposed
to be that, you know, in a play in tournament
to get you know, playing the game, to get in
right right. Yeah, they But again I thought that I
thought that that's what it was going to be. And
the fact that Jimmy Butler did show up the way
(20:05):
that he did, it gives Steph Curry the opportunity to
get off of the court at times and them not
lose that ability to score.
Speaker 6 (20:13):
Now, is that surprising that Jimmy has showed up the
way he has.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
I just think it.
Speaker 7 (20:18):
I mean, he does have a nickname playoff Jimmy for
a reason. I'm not surprised that he show he's showing up.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
I'm just glad he was able to get out of
the toxic culture that is Heat culture and that he's
actually being respected again.
Speaker 7 (20:29):
You know, just feel bad form while we're trying to
I mean, Bam Bam was carrying the load yesterday and
they just they just.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Man, Cleveland's just a better team. They're just better. They're
just better.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
Tie Jerome man with two first names, kind of going
off the way he did. I'm just saying, Dang, you
can't stop that. Sometimes you can't trust him, but you
can't stop that when when Ty Jerome gets Hotang, Wow,
they look pretty good. Man Calves pretty good?
Speaker 2 (20:58):
Hell yeah, they look pretty good.
Speaker 7 (21:01):
I mean, you need your up Tops to pool through
four pretty for Miami for them to have a chance
to win that series.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
What do you think about us claiming tidejer Own.
Speaker 7 (21:11):
There's a lot of mixed kids in the league too,
you know, so you guys could theoretically up topic for
some guys. You know, Gordon, you know ya could up Top,
Ya could claim.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Gordon hold On?
Speaker 5 (21:23):
Is that debatable with Tys Frome.
Speaker 7 (21:25):
No, I don't know that's Jonas saying that. I'm just
say I've said there's a lot of mixed kids in
the league though. So it is what it is, man,
I mean you could up top it quite a bit,
knock yourselves out.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Hell yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:39):

you coming up in a little over fifteen minutes from now.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
We've got a.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
Brand new fan, a brand new fan on this show,
and we will explain why here a little over fifteen
minutes from now here on FSR. So remember that little
sit down that Aaron Rodgers had on the Pat McFee
show starring Ajhawk where he described the disastrous final meeting
with the Jets and everything that went down.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Apparently there is a.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
Different version of events that the Jets have this according
to Tom Pellisero, who said the following. What I was
told is that Aaron had indicated to them, Hey, I'm
gonna be on that side of the country in this
next week, and they said, great, come into the building.
And there had been ongoing dialogue up until that about it,
just a variety of different things because they don't, as
(23:22):
Aaron said, he and Aaron Glenn don't really know each other.
Aarin clearly from his perspective when in they're thinking we're
going to have a conversation about the future, but the
Jets very quickly informed him they were going in another direction.
Kind of feels like semantics like listen, you could have
handled it better, And he walked in there expecting something else,
(23:43):
and next thing, you know, fifteen minutes later he finds out, well,
that's weird, and they don't want me a part of
this organization anymore.
Speaker 6 (23:49):
So you know what I think it is, And tell
me if you think this is a little bit the
part of it that's not accurate. But I've noticed this
in some other sports too, and having some conversations with
guys who are more towards the end of their career.
Speaker 5 (24:04):
In his case, you know, is he.
Speaker 6 (24:06):
Coming off an mvpcson a super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
No, of course not.
Speaker 6 (24:10):
As we've pointed out, he was playing better, you know,
he was coming off an injury, and he was playing
better down the stretch. But there's a certain sense of
respect that I think someone in his position, who has
won a Super Bowl, who's won four MVPs, who's a
guy that we all look at as a first ballot
Hall of Famer, that I think he looks at himself
(24:30):
as what he's meant to this league, and honestly look
as bad as this sounds to say out loud, maybe
he's meant more in the offseason to perpetuate a lot
of the headlines the last four years or so, three
years or so. But that's kind of part of it too, right,
Like for those people who follow the NFL. One of
(24:51):
the biggest conversations that's been consistently as Aaron Rodgers in
the off season, and there's something to be said for
that because it's helping to perpetuate a lot of what's
going on. We've talked about this draft. It's kind of
a ho hum draft. So there's a certain element I
think of respect that he feels like he deserves because
of what he's done in this league over twenty years.
(25:14):
And I just I think that regardless of the circumstances.
I mean, obviously he still paid his way out there.
Who knows, maybe those plans would have changed had they
not had said, yeah, come on by if.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
You're in there for those days.
Speaker 6 (25:25):
That works for us too. But he probably feels like
he deserves more than a fifteen minute conversation of just
saying we're out, we're moving on. And look, the fact
that this became public is maybe evidence as to why.
But I think if you're a Jets fan, and I
think a lot of people will get upset because it's
(25:46):
a oh, you guys are taking defense of Aaron Rodgers.
Damn right, we are, and you don't know why because
the Jets have been a disaster, like he was the
one like guiding light of hope that you had. And
it's again, it's not that things were going in the
right direction anyway, but you at least could have handled
it with a little bit of grace and dignity and
(26:08):
just said, hey, man, you know, let's just sit down
and talk for thirty minutes or so forty five minutes.
Let's come to an agreement of like why this isn't
going to work. If they're so hell bent, I'm saying
that it's not going to work right out the gate.
At least have a conversation to get to know one
another or explain to him like, these are the things
(26:28):
that we have heard since we've taken over from ownership
or whoever else, This is why we'd like to move on.
Here's our plan. Tell us that we're wrong. But they
didn't want to show him the respect that he probably
feels like he deserves because of what he's accomplished over
the course of his career in this league. Now that
(26:49):
doesn't mean that, you know, again, the Jets have to
you know, they should respect or have to. I mean,
I would think most players would want that. But that's
where I feel like there's the biggest disc with this
whole situation.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
It's like the whole they're handling of it. And like
when the Lions were trying to turn around the organization
and they were trying to show everybody this is a
different organization. They went out and they mended fence and
mended fences with you know, some of the all time grades,
Calvin Johnson, Barry Sanders was brought back. Like they went
about it the right way and then came the winning
(27:25):
and came the success afterwards. But there were slow steps
towards doing that, and because it was a new regime,
you were like, Okay, well, how's this going to go.
We've heard the same story. It's a new coach, they've
turned and burned how many coaches. It's not work, the
organization's a disaster. And then you saw, no, it was
these little things that they did, these little moments that
they did to try and repair their reputation in the
(27:46):
league and try and show them that they're a model franchise.
So the Jets have got this new regime, and the
first thing they do, first decision they make is handling
this departure with him the way that they did it,
and of course it gets out. Now they're going through
other channels to try and talk about, well, this is
(28:08):
the you know, he just happened to be in the
area and so we invited him in and he reached out.
Like the whole thing's just it's just the same old
Jets over and over again. And so even with a
new coach, new GM, there's hope for the future.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
We're gonna move on.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Had you handled it a different way, you could at
least show hey, we're going to go in a different direction.
But because this is a new era of Jets football,
we're going to handle it the right way and we're
going to do things differently to try and show you
that it's going to be a slow build, but ultimately
we're going to be a model franchise. Nope, not even
can't even do that right.
Speaker 7 (28:42):
Well, No, I feel like the Jets aren't easy target here.
They I mean everything, it's warranted. It's warranted to approach
it this way because they have been so dysfunctional. But
there are different sides to every story. Whose story is
best or whose story is more correct? Who knows, you know,
(29:04):
Maybe they know, I know, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
I don't.
Speaker 7 (29:08):
I'm not taking any sides on this one. Why not, Well,
because I don't feel the need to.
Speaker 3 (29:12):
I don't.
Speaker 7 (29:13):
I don't feel compelled by what what Aaron Rodgers had
to say to be like, yeah, I'm siding with him
on this, and I don't feel compelled to look at
it from the standpoint of siding with the New York
Jets and trying to come up with where you pointing
out yourself.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
You're either with us or against us.
Speaker 7 (29:29):
I don't even know what that means, man, I don't
even know what that means our team, a rod All
I'll say is is that I believe Aaron Rodgers wants
to continue his career, and I believe he wants to
continue his career somewhere specific, and I believe it could
be Minnesota that he really wants to play.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
He wants to play in Minnesota.
Speaker 7 (29:54):
I think that's the reason why he brings up the
names that he brought up in the interview with McAfee.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
I think that.
Speaker 7 (30:00):
That's why he brought up the figure, the dollar amount, Like, listen,
let's not make it about the dollar amount, Like I
won't play for that much, but I want to have
the opportunity to do this, regardless of whatever the team
is or whatever you know, he's trying to do. I
do believe that this was an attempt to make himself
more of a sympathetic figure. I think that this was
(30:21):
a character repair in terms of out front in front
of the media, out front in front of the fans,
because he has been looked at as a guy that
kind of does it the way he wants to do it.
He has commanded the you know, the headliness. As mentioned
in the off seasons, and even during the seasons, there
has been drama and things that have played out, like
(30:44):
people getting fired, losing their jobs. Douglas loses his job,
Sala loses his job during a time where you thought
that this would be a team that possibly could contend
for a Super Bowl bid at least come out of
the North. Uh you know, I mean out of out
of the the a f C. I just to me,
(31:05):
it's it's it's this comes across to me as daytime
soap opera type type news. It really does, like your
feelings are hurt. Get over it. You are a first
ballot Hall of Famer, you are good. You do deserve respect.
Everybody deserves respect. That's cool, But get over it, man, Like, Okay,
they didn't handle it the way you wanted it to
(31:25):
be handled.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
The guy the guy got you in his Netflix show. No,
he got you in you and you're going to disrespect him.
Speaker 5 (31:35):
Right now.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
G you.
Speaker 7 (31:39):
Some messed up man. But anyway, No, I'm not. I'm
not trying again, I'm not. I don't feel compelled to
defend either side because I think both of them are
equally uh probably you know which which Aaron are you on?
Are you on Glad or you on Rogers? Like I said,
I'm I'm not siding on on. I'm not siding on it.
(32:04):
I'm just not. I think that that's kind of clear
cut what it is. I think he's trying to to
do some damage control on his image because of the
way this whole thing played out in New York. He
gets an opportunity to do it on such a tremendously
popular show. It's one of the most consumed shows, so
a ton of people are going to see it. He
(32:26):
gets the opportunity to kind of put it out there
the way that he wanted to put it out there,
and he did and that was his side of it,
So good for him. That's That's kind of how I say.
I feel like it's kind of an open shut type
of deal. Like the Jets are very easy to to
look at and take take shots at. They're going to
have to take those shots until they prove something different.
Speaker 5 (32:48):
Yeah, and and but again I think it's somewhat justified.
Speaker 6 (32:51):
And for this reason, where was Woody Johnson? Part of
me when I I hear stuff like this and I
think about how this started. Did you know I think
Woody Johnson was part of the decision to bring in
Aaron Rodgers in the first place.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
You don't think he had to okay it. You don't
think he was involved in some of.
Speaker 7 (33:10):
That, especially Hoots. I didn't know that they hated each other.
I thought they were in cahoots. I thought that was
the reason why I saw Lah and them got fired
was because of Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 6 (33:20):
Right, which came out not to be the case. And
even more so when you think about the history of
the whole immunionized were immunized versus the Johnson and Johnson
and all that. I mean, there's a lot of layers
to it, and that's one of the reasons why, you know,
he had to sign off on something that I think
he knew was going to be polarizing. So now you
fast forward to first game he's there.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
I mean, it didn't feel.
Speaker 6 (33:43):
Like there was more of a build up for a
moment than that moment when he's running out of the
you know, tunnel with the flag and just everything that
went into that and it ends in what can only
be the most disastrous way possible, and then that season
turns into a dumpster fire. Fast forward this past year
or he comes back, he doesn't look a one hundred
percent healthy, Things don't go well. You know, Sallah gets
(34:05):
fired everything else, which was what he Johnson's doing. But
I guess my point is, if they were going to
have that conversation with him, why.
Speaker 5 (34:15):
Wasn't Woody there.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
I mean, Aaron Glenn's the new coach. I get that
there's a feeling out process, but they had already made
the decision they wanted to move on from him anyway,
So why don't you have the guy there who ultimately
made the decision, not a new coach? Who doesn't know
Aaron Rodgers admittedly so from from both you know, sides
of all this, but also that has no equity with him,
(34:37):
Like he wasn't a part of bringing him there. So
even if he was, you know, a part of telling
him that they're moving in a different direction, what's he
going to use his justification because I'm a new head coach,
I want my own guy. Okay, great, But wouldn't Aaron
still want to talk the team that invested into him,
that went on this with him, and you know, arguably
it's like it didn't work out for either side. You know,
the injury probably played the biggest factor into that.
Speaker 5 (35:00):
But I don't know.
Speaker 6 (35:01):
I mean, there's an element of wouldn't you think Woody
Johnson would have been there too, just to say, hey, Aaron, look,
this didn't work out for either of us. We both
went into the best intentions. We were hoping it was
going to lead to something more significant.
Speaker 5 (35:12):
It didn't.
Speaker 6 (35:13):
Let's just move on our separate ways. And and here's
some of the things that kind of bothered us. And
quite frankly it might bother other other teams out there too,
But no, there's none of that.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
I don't know that the rules apply like that.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
Maybe he was watching like there's like an interrogation room
glass and he was watching through the other side making
sure they got I think Aaron Glen was very clear
on how Woody Johnson felt about Aaron Rodgers well coming
into the situation, and I'm certain that Aaron Rodgers at
this point understood what his standing was with Woody Johnson
as well.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Well, here's what I know.
