Speaker 3 (02:00):
I don't know why I paused throughout the first round
of the Drive live right here on Fox Sports Radio,
brought to you by that's right, ship Station. All right,
we got a lot to get to Aaron Rodgers, Nico
the story that keeps giving out. I can't wait to
hear what TJ has to say about the finale of that,
(02:21):
at least the portal finale of it. Joel Klytt had
some interesting things to say about well, the jerseys in
Colorado getting retired. But we'll get to all of those things.
But first I asked my guys. Man, we got Plex
back in the driver's seat. We got TJ here. How
(02:42):
y'all feeling today?
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Man?
Speaker 3 (02:43):
I already know what TJ about to say because I'm
looking at the side.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
But see what I see?
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Can you see what I see?
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Man? It's just great being out here. Man. Hates the taxes,
but that it makes it work. Pursuit today or this evening,
Oh god, to a championships.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
We got cos the legend. Yeah, we got cops coming
on too. Yeah, okay, all right, Oh.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
Man, everything is you know, nice and dandy out here. Also,
I mean, don't just count us out because we were
over here on the East coast. I mean it is
supposed to reach uh, you know, upward was towards eight
degrees in around one per him eastin standard time. So
it's about seventy five seventy six right now, perfect weather
for when the show uh ends today with all the
(03:33):
juice information that we have to give to the world.
And nice another nice of vasa and some little barbecue
and my Saturday will begin.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Well, let's get to it because speaking of the show,
beginning UH this week, there was some interesting UH developments
with the New York Jets. They they well, it wasn't
with the Jets happening, but it was Aaron Rodgers finally
talking on it, and he spoke about it on the
Pack McAfee show. I thought it was interesting what he
(04:02):
had to say, but more so the responses that came
out of Aaron Rodgers saying, I didn't have to fly
in you know. I guess he flew private and he
could have just stayed home and took the call with
the Jets from home if that was what they were
going to do, if it wasn't going to be a
real meeting. I guess the meeting was fifteen minutes long
(04:26):
versus it being hours long. And it was basically Aaron Glenn, well,
depending on what your interpretation of it is Aaron Glenn
basically letting him know they didn't want him anymore. But
I found Colin Cowherd's response to what took place very
interesting and I love to hear y'all's take on it.
(04:46):
Here's what Colin had to say about it this week.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
The Jets are second class operation. Aaron Rodgers his own
dime flies Cross country on his you know, citation or
jet stream or a jet golfstream probably plays about fifty
thousand there in back, maybe sixty and they give him
five minutes. They could have told him they didn't want
him on the phone. I don't care how much Aaron makes.
I don't care what you think about Aaron. You can't
treat employees that way. That's not how you treat people.
(05:12):
Rams aren't treating people that way. Come on now, Niners
aren't treating people that way. Dodgers aren't treating people that way.
Baltimore's not treating people like that. That's a second class move.
And by the way, we have report cards to back
that up. Remember when the players in the NFL had
player polls NFLPA player polls, Jets ranked twenty ninth.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Owner got an f by.
Speaker 6 (05:34):
The Jets players and the f They also have the
longest playoff rout in North American sports, longer than the
Washington Wizards. It's not a well run organization at all.
They fired Joe Douglas, who I thought was really good.
They fired Robert Sala in Week five when the next
game he was going to be if they won in
first place. And they treat Aaron Rodgers like a door
(05:55):
to door salesman.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
Give me a break, all right, Well, he didn't mince
words for how he felt about how this was handled.
What's your guys' take on this?
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Man? When you listen to the Aaron Rodgers interview on
the Pat McAfee show, that bothered. But we know, well,
we don't know. Well, let me just say this, I
don't know when you fly private. I don't care how
much money you got. You going from the West coast
(06:31):
to the East coast. That's that's at least seventy five
k at least round trip, seventy five maybe one hundred.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
One way one way for me. One way for me
was in between twenty five to thirty one way. That's
what I'm saying. You got that big money. I don't
even know what that's like. Go ahead, I just want
to let y'all know that what you know what it
could be flying out of Orange County.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
But go ahead, listen. Man, If you are the New
York Jets and you're Aaron Glenn, if that conversation is
going to be a five minute conversation, and you know
you don't want Aaron Rodgers, why can't you just tell
him over the phone, because when you have a man
fly out there, you're giving him a belief. Oh they're interested, Okay,
(07:23):
they're they're interested. So you know, I'm I'm gonna fly
out and you see her. Aaron Glenn was in there
for all of three to four minutes. We all know this. Man.
When you're somebody, you get treated differently. When you are
a somebody, people treat you differently, right or wrong, that's
just what it is. They treat you differently. Aaron Rodgers
(07:46):
is a somebody. He should have been treated with the
respect to say, you know what, don't even waste your money, bro,
We're gonna move in a different direction. All right, thank you.
But when he fly out there, you're giving him a belief,
even if it doesn't go away, that he wanted to go.
(08:07):
At least we had a dialogue. You respected me, You
said what you had to say. I respected you. I
said what I had to say. It just didn't work.
I just think from a respect factor, because of what
he's accomplished as a player, you gotta handle this a
different way. You just have to. You must handle this
(08:29):
a different way. It doesn't look good. But then again,
in the interview, Aaron Rodgers did say they asked him,
do you want to play football? And I believe he
said I'm interested. I don't like that response. You tell me,
I'm meant do I want to play? Hell? Yeah, I
want to play. That should have been a response. But
(08:52):
with that being said, I just feel like when you
when you've accomplished what he's accomplished, a little more respect
problem he should have been given on the Jets behalf
go ahead stretch.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
So correct me if I'm wrong. When when Aaron Glenn
was hired as the head coach for the New York
just didn't he come out and initially say when he
was hired that he did not want Aaron Rodgers back
on his team?
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Didn't he say that first? He hinted at it?
Speaker 5 (09:19):
Yes, okay, So if why does it take Aaron Glenn
this long to make a decision to have a meeting
with Ann Rodgers if you wanted him to be your quarterback?
While to wait so long, That's what I don't understand.
This happened long. I mean, I think he's just now
(09:39):
talking about it. I don't know that it just happened.
I don't think are we clear on when it happened.
I'm not sure when it happened.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
He spoke after he got the job. It happened, so
it was it.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Wasn't like it was like yesterday or anything like that,
like it happened before. But he's just not speaking on
Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
Oh yeah, I'm pretty much thinking that. You know, Aaron
Rodgers was pretty much still on the roster when they
had this conversation. So but if that's not the case,
and that's something totally different. But what I will say
is this, Aaron Rodgers upset is upset basically a lot
of what TJ just just elaborated on. He got treated
like a regular player, except that he spent a lot
(10:22):
of money to fly coast to coast on his own dime,
as he would call it, and he felt that he
was disrespected because you know what, I'm ann Rodgers, you
don't treat me like the rest of the players in
this league, which you can say that he has earned
that right, But if you look at it from a
player stand up, a player's point of view, Aaron Glenn
(10:44):
is a former player.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
We are former players.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
We are not in all of guys that we run
into around the country, around the world, who have played
the same sport that we have because we consider ourselves
to be like, you know, it's a brotherhood. You know,
we have a tremendous a lot of respect for each other,
but we're not in awe of each other when we
run into people.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Well, I kind of do be sometimes.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
A regular coaches, you know, regular coaches that haven't played
are And Aaron Glenn probably approached the situation like, look, man,
I played in this league. I played in this league too, you.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
So you know you're Aaron Rodgers, but to me, you're
you're you're a player in the same league that I
played in.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
And I can see that coming from him.
Speaker 5 (11:32):
But for Aaron Glenn to treat him the way that
he did, to hold a five minute meeting basically saying
that we don't want, we no longer want you to
be the quarterback in the team, I think he went
about it the wrong way. So now you know, here
we are before the draft or whatever the case may be.
If Aaron Rodgers was on this football team again this year,
(11:56):
they may be a little better. But the fact that
they do not have a quarterback as of right now,
who the starter is going to be.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
The Justests are not going to be that good anyway.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
Last year that supposedly had the best team of the
best defense on paper in the nest Football League. I
don't know what happened at You can't blame that on
Aaron Rodgers, but I just thank for Aaron Glenn the
way he's going about it. I was fortunate enough to
play for this organization and get a chance to know
Woody Johnson. And I've always said this, Woody Johnson is
(12:30):
a great man. He's a great person, but when it
comes down to being able to run an NFL organization,
he hasn't done well. And it showed over the last
fifteen to twenty two decades. Whatever you want to call it,
it's that aura and that feeling. I don't know what
it is, but when you walk in the building every
(12:52):
single morning, on the back of your mind, you're just
saying to yourself that, man, I hope we can.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Win the game this week. And I've never felt that
way anywhere else where. I was in.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Pittsburgh or across the street at the New York Giants.
You walked in the building the morning like, yo, man,
we're gonna whoop somebody's ass.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
This weekend.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
But on the flip side of it, from an organizational standpoint,
it's just not there.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
I think Woody he needs to get some.
Speaker 5 (13:18):
Real football people in this building and try to turn
this franchise around, because I mean, look, look at the
market that they're in. They can't even get to a
playoff game, and it sucks for him.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
But at the end of the day, I think wood
is going to have to make.
Speaker 5 (13:35):
A mass overhaul of who he has in that building
to turn this franchise around, because there's no way that
this franchise can keep going the way that it is
for the past two decades.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
I think everybody's kind of seeing it from the same lens,
But it could be somewhat of a miss. You know,
I heard Colin say, second class organization, treating people poorly.
A CEO flew in on his own dime, doesn't matter
how much he makes. Not well, ran team fired, Douglas fired, Salah.
(14:09):
I'm listening to you guys talk about how poorly Aaron
Rodgers shouldn't have been treated and different things. Could we
have missed the point of what's going on here. I
think that this is a masterful play by Aaron Rodgers
timing wise to go on one of the most viewed
and listen to and Coke followed shows and all of
(14:33):
television and even easily in sports on the Pat McAfee
show comes on. If y'all didn't notice, if you saw it,
shaved his face. So he didn't have the old man
bear going, right, he had the young he had the
young Aaron Rodgers face going. He tells the story in
a way where he makes himself a sympathetic figure to
(14:55):
the people who are going to be watching it and
listening thus us the media. So now you're painting a
picture where you should be sympathized with and empathized with,
rather than the narrative that came out of him him
being immune immune to to COVID. Because we all recall,
things went bad with how people viewed Aaron Rodgers when
(15:19):
he said he didn't get vaccinized, he got immunized, right.
People didn't like that because he was playing the media,
He was playing the people, and people didn't like it
when the truth came out.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
This is a This is a a.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
Repair. This is Aaron Rodgers persona or or you know
him as a person. This is he's repairing who he
is he threw out in the in the uh in
the interview, I'll play for ten ems. He's talking to
somebody directly. He's interviewing for a job directly. He wants
(15:54):
a job with somebody directly. Man, No, he hasn't been
transparentjld on, I'll let you. I'll let y'all go. Let
me finish, Let me finish, because we're up on the break.
This is why I think it is about. This is
about him trying to get to where he wants to be.
There would be no reason for him to come out
and be transparent at this point. It's already happened. If
(16:17):
you were going to be transparent, be transparent while it's happening.
You waited. He waited to do this. This is very
well calculated. This isn't about being transparent because he's not
relevant enough for it to be transparent, this far away
from him doing it.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
You gotta be relevant enough. We're talking about it.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
It's not relevant enough, and we're talking about in my estimation,
we're talking about it because he's he hasn't signed with
the team that people you know think that that's the
only team available to him in the Pittsburgh Steelers and
how poorly ran. People think that the New York Jets
are still and maybe that Aaron Glenn, which has now
come out as an attack on Aaron Glenn in some form,
(16:54):
shape or fashion, that he's not the person to be
a head coach, or he's not a good head coach.
You don't treat people like this. We have heard one
side of this story, and that was Aaron Rodgers' side
of it. And now we're saying, Oh, he's being transparent. Oh,
it's not about this. No, No, he's repairing what people
think about him.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
One.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Two.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
He's trying to get to the team he wants to
get to, and it's not the Pittsburgh Steelers. It might
be the Minnesota Vikings, don't know what team it is,
but it's not the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Three. Three.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
I think the one point that people may fail to
see in this is that the way Aaron Glenn handled this,
supposedly air quotes by the way Aaron Rodgers said he
handled it. That man flew in there on a private
jet on his own dime to go meet with them.
Do we know the feeling that they got between one another,
because it sounded like it got a little contentious. Aaron
(17:46):
Rodgers says, well, Aaron Glenn says to him, you don't
know me, right and my culture in my world, if
I say that to somebody like you're about three four
steps away from us squaring up, I gotta either walk
away from you or we got to stop the conversation
because basically, when I hit you with you don't know me, bruh,
(18:06):
Like you don't know me like that, bruh, Like we
got there's an issue. His response is on the McAfee show,
I know I don't know you. That's why I'm here, like, oh,
that sounds good. Like it's somebody telling a story and
they're telling their side of the story and nobody ever
sees themselves as being the person that's wrong and telling
the story. I feel like this is the situation here.
(18:29):
And he ran into a situation where Woody Johnson already
had beef with Aaron Rodgers. This could have very well
been a vendetta hit on Aaron Rodgers. Woody Johnson told
Aaron Glenn how he felt he already had an idea
all these things that Colin said, all these things that
y'all are saying, all these things that have taken place.
(18:49):
Aaron Glenn is already aware of it and knows that
that entire building knows that.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
This is over the phone. Why do I well out
there tell me over the phone.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
I don't think here's where I think the over where
there is an explanation, There is an explanation.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
The explanation is.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
The explanation is in bringing you here and you coming
in here in person. If it's if it's put in
chronological order, do you still want to play the game,
like do you still want to be a part of
this this team or be a part of football, this,
that and the other. If the feelings in the and
people were rubbing themselves the wrong way in the initial meeting,
(19:28):
things changed tj.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Had He said, I would love to remain in New York.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
Jet Had, I don't know for certain.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
I don't know for certain. I'm not going to I'm
not going to create a conclusion on saying that you
brought him here clearly to have five minutes of conversation
and send him on his way. I don't think that
that's what happened here. I think that's cat I think
just like people always want to skew and turn things
to fit the narrative that they wanted to fit. That's
what took play here. Aaron Glenn has not responded, so
(20:03):
everybody's left to look at it and listen to it
and think about it the way that it's being interpreted.
From what Aaron Rogers said, he should.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Leave it as it is. Story done, Aaroner, Aaron Rodgers
could have left the story alone and not went on
Pat McAfee show and made it a thing.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
That's really what should have happened. But since he did it,
I think that it was a calculated approach to trying
to clean up your image and let somebody know that
I'll play for your team for ten million dollars. I
don't need the forty million or all that stuff that
all these other guys are getting, and I need to
be an empathetic, a sympathetic figure to the public out there,
(20:41):
and this gives me the opportunity to do it. Glynn
is an easy target in this situation. That's what I.
Speaker 5 (20:51):
Think Well Levard was just saying, is that he's making
a plea to somebody. He went out and said that
it's not about the money, but I'll pay for you
for ten million dollars and If that's the case, why
hasn't he signed with a team or a team offered
him an opportunity?
Speaker 3 (21:09):
Point he's making, No, I'm not you're making.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
So why does he have a job? Then? Thank you privately?
What he would play for?
Speaker 3 (21:21):
He is trying to get the job that he has
not been offered or has written.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
So why hasn't he got the job?
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Because they probably I don't know why. I don't know
if they it's because they don't want.
Speaker 5 (21:35):
If he's talking to somebody a particular football team it's
a Minnesota or if it's players on the carters or
whoever the case may be. If he's put it out
there to all thirty two teams that I will play
quarterback now dolls, then why hasn't eight team given him
a job? He's not putting in my estimation, he's not
(21:56):
putting it out to all thirty two teams. He's putting
it out to somebody very through the media.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Well why have.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Yeah, that's again he's making the plea. Why they haven't
they don't want to hire is one thing or the other.
But he's addressing what he's being being told, what he's hearing,
and he did it in a way. He not only
did it, he's probably doing it behind the scenes or
his agency forty, but he's also doing it in the
media so that the fan bases and the and the
(22:25):
media can get a hold of it and talk about
it and here.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Better Oh and I he did so it makes him better.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Caught on.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
It makes him look better to the public.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
And to the fans of all these organizations to say, oh,
Aaron Rodgers is going to.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Only play for ten million dollars.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
Yes, wow, we should get him as our quarterback. Yes,
it does, Yes, it does. It creates conversation.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
Listen, is great. We know how great this young man
has been through. He's a first battle. He was one
of the greatest quarterbacks to play.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
In this league.
Speaker 5 (22:58):
If it's only a ten million dollar salary that he wants,
then everybody should be jumping out.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Of the office.
Speaker 5 (23:04):
That's what you wou teams that need a quarterback, but
they have yet to do that.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
That is what you would think. And that is not
the obvious.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
No body has done it. Why it's the point. That's
the point. He's pleading for it. He's trying to clean
his image up. He's pleading for anyways, it's a bit
I guess it's a it's a bigger conversation. We'll see
what happens.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
I mean, he may go into retirement, and it may
not be because he can't, you know, he doesn't want
to retire. I don't because he won't find a team,
you know, But I mean that could be that. Anyways, Well,
U c l A wanted Nico, and a lot of
heat came down on my boy.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
T J.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Huchman's ode of paying team man was like almost like Batman.
This week in the media to the Tennessee faithful, we're
gonna talk about Nico Leo may Li Levo. Uh, what's
what's his last name?
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Again?
Speaker 3 (23:51):
I just never can get it. Leo may Leah Leva.
I don't know. Anyway, he goes to.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
U c l A.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Uh, we'll talk about that. And Dan Landing plays a
part in this, but he's not a coach of UCLA
or of Tennessee. But we'll tell you how he played
a part in it. This is up on Game.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
It's TJ.

Before we went to the break, we had a spirit
of conversation about the Aaron Rodgers situation with New York
and Aaron Glenn. You'll be able to check that out
on podcasts as well. But we talked about Nico. I'm
gonna leave you. That's how I'm a calling. That's that's
what I'm gonna bam. All right, Well, I'm just saying,
you know, I know that's that's that's your deal. Just
call him Nico. But I gotta I gotta try to
(25:26):
say something, and he reportedly is heading to UCLA for
a pay cut. Now we call it whatever you want
to call it, Like they're saying that he was earning
two point four at Tennessee, which, by the way, let
me preface this by saying, I hate being the one
that reads out players numbers in the pros college. Now
(25:49):
I've always hated this part of it. But here we
go two segments in a row where numbers and figures
of what players gonna make is coming out two point
four million at ten See ends up landing in uc
LA for somewhere around what estimated one point seventy five
I believe one point seven. One of those figures, it
(26:12):
is being reported that he signed for TJ. I'm gonna
let you take it first, because when we when you
had the take you had last week, and you basically
said that you know what you said about Tennessee and
how they handled the situation and why Nico felt the
way that he felt a lot of people responded on
social and felt like that was inaccurate or it was
(26:36):
cap or maybe you were misinformed, or maybe I wasn't.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Okay, go you got it, Go ahead, yes, all right,
he's gonna make more than he made it Tennessee. And
I'm gonna just say that. I'm gonna say that, so
all you go. He took. It wasn't about the money
to begin with. It wasn't about the money to begin with.
And so it was always about the offensive system not
(27:04):
being conducive for a quarterback to have success at the
next level. And if you tell me you're gonna change it,
I expect you to change it. And if you're not
gonna change it, you'd say, you know what, We're not
changing our offensive system. We're doing fine at Tennessee. Why
would we change our system to accommodate you. We're doing okay.
(27:28):
But if you say you're gonna change and change it, now,
he's gonna make more money at UCLA. Now, well, ten
does Tennessee? Are they in a Do they have better
players on paper? We say yes, by far and away
he's going from Tennessee to UCLA. The teams are not
(27:49):
the same. They aren't. But to me, everything that came
out was from the University of Tennessee side. Niko side
hadn't said a thing. And I'm not on Nico's side.
I just know Nico, and don't put somebody down and
leave out little rumors here and there, because everything that
(28:13):
came out was within the Tennessee camp. Everything, and they
created a bunch of false narratives because they want to
protect themselves. Like Josh Shipel, when you got hired at Tennessee,
I believe your first year was solid. Your second year
they went ten and two. Did your contracts start the same, Joshipe?
Or did you go get paid nine million plus a year?
(28:36):
Why didn't you just you were under contract, Josh? Why
didn't you just keep coaching for the contract that you
were under Buddy, you went and got nine plus million
after your second year you were still under contract. Why
would you want more money? Oh? Because the team had
outperformed expectations so fast sort of rewarded you. Oh that's
(29:01):
how it works. It's good for you, but it is.
Isn't it good for anybody else? Though? Right? That's how
it works. And so from what I gathered Nego's representation
in Tennessee, they weren't discussions in November Nigos people, they
shared their expectations, Tennessee said okay, we can do this.
(29:22):
Since then, they hadn't really spoken about nothing financial. So
when you come out and say he wanted more money,
who are you discussing it with yourself or did you
just put that out there to make you look good.
Because what I'm saying is a fact. It's not fiction.
(29:43):
This is a fact. This is talking to people that
have had these discussions. I was just on the field
with Nico three days this past week, and so all
I'm saying is this, When you, as a co coach
are under contract and get a new contract, that's okay,
(30:05):
isn't it. But now in the world nil, when the
player is trying to get more money or a player
wants this, then you get the fans and the people
that say, oh, he's under contract, why does he They
want the fans in public opinion on their side, because
(30:25):
the fans in public they don't like that these young
men can make this amount of money, So they know
when they bring up money, they know the public is
going to be on their side. They don't like the
fact that these kids can make this amount of money
because the average person can't. I don't make this type
of money anymore. And I'm happy for every kid that
can get it. I'm happy for every kid that can
(30:47):
get it because for years they've been robbing us, and
now that they can't rob us, it's a problem. And
so for me, man, I wish everybody the best. But
Josh Hypel knows this. He knows it was about the
system and furthermore.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
To a better system at UCLA.
Speaker 1 (31:10):
He may not have better players, but it would be
a better system. And Joshippel, but I'll be honest, he
needs to win games for the University of Tennessee. It
ain't his job to prepare you for the NFL. It's
his job to win games for the University of Tennessee.
I get that.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
But he has put quarterbacks into the league too.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
Like I'm glad you said that. I'm glad you said that.
All three of us played a long time in the NFL.
You one of YouTube, Plexico Burgs, Laverarrington, one of y'all
tell me a player that Josh Hypel has coached on
offense since he's been at Tennessee that's performed well in
the NFL. Y'all tell me just one player. I don't
(31:50):
think that's a fair question. I mean a lot of
you know, I'm just saying you can't name one.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
Well, I'll say none because none of them are starting.
But why is it not a fair question? Stretch?
Speaker 5 (32:02):
Because you know, guys get injured and you know, different
things like that happened. They go to teams where they
are not you know, in the best position for them
to go out and the form.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Uh, that's my point.
Speaker 5 (32:16):
The hooker was probably the Heisman Trophy winner of the year.
He was a favorite right right, and went down with
a knee injury.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
Now and ask yourself displex He was with the Detroit
Lions all season, soaking up the offense, learning the system.
The Detroit Lions said, Man, we're gonna get this guy
that's coaching high school football or be our backup in
the playoffs. Exactly, you like, exactly why is that tough?
Why is And That's what I'm saying. They gonna get
(32:47):
Teddy Bridgewater that was coaching high school football to be
there back up in the playoffs. That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Tennessee. I want to hear y'all respond to that, because
I ain't gonna lie. Like coming into it, I was
kind of like, you know, it's TJ gonna double down
on it?
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Is he?
Speaker 3 (33:06):
Is he going to back up from it? Is he
gonna say, maybe it was this, maybe it was that,
uh Tennessee. I want to hear how y'all respond to
this one, because I feel like he kind of gave
y'all a real.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
Why did so many Why did so many of their
receivers into the portal? Why did so many receivers from
Tennessee into the portal? Mm hmm, you got a quarterback?
A nical? Why is so many receivers from Tennessee into
the portal?
Speaker 3 (33:31):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
So you so, what you're basically in senulating is that
it's the it's the it's the offense.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
And one hundred the offense is good for college football.
These dudes ain't prepared for the league. And that's why
Jalen Hide was a blatant offense.
Speaker 5 (33:46):
If the offense, if the offensive good, If the offense
is good for college football, and you have the quarterback,
So why all the wide receivers jumping in the portal because.
Speaker 1 (33:58):
Offenses? List of them?
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Let's let's finish that conversation, because we didn't hear from you,
really plex, Let's let's let's table this. Let's get an
update from Ilo. Let's finish it. I know we got
the Joel Clatt. We'll move Joel Platt to the next hour.
Let's let's finish this one. But first let's get started
with what's trending with our guy the Goat himself, mister
(34:20):
Isaac Loew and gron right, you.
Speaker 7 (34:22):
Are as always LeVar and The NBA Playoffs tip off
at the top of the hour, Game one from Indianapolis,
with the Pacers hosting the Milwaukee Bucks at ESPN reporting
Milwaukee star Damian Lillard expected a return for either Game
two or Game three. He's been out since being diagnosed
with a blood clot in his right calf three weeks ago.
Today's Major League Baseball action gets underway at the top
of the hour, with the Phillies hosting the Marlins and
(34:44):
the Kansas City Royals visiting the Detroit Tigers. Now, now, guys,
I know you like to joke around a lot, and
we like to have a lot of fun around here,
but this is a very very serious story here, the
final item here that I'm about to describe. So last
night in Major League base the Angels defeated the San
Francisco Giants two to nothing. But despite that, Giant starter
(35:05):
Logan Webb had a strong performance twelve strike ats and
six innings with no walks. Now, after the game, Web
was speaking with reporters in the Giants clubhouse when someone
nearby experienced what I will delicately describe as intestinal distress.
Listen very closely.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Bumgarden gum and on our should for at least odds
with m Sorry.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
I'm sorry. Sorry. Sports are always funny. I'm not gonna
lie what.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
No work out always funny for some reason.
Speaker 7 (35:40):
No word yet on who the culprit was, but reportedly
whoever smelt it dealt it back to you, guys.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
I appreciate it. I love all right. Look, we're gonna
take a quick break. We're gonna come back, We're gonna
talk well, we're going to finish this conversation. We're gonna

and reaction. So Thursday, eight pm Eastern Time, First Round
Drive live right here on Fox Sports Radio with live
video simulcast on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube page. Brought to
you by Dollar shaved club Plexico. What is your response
(37:26):
to what we heard in the last segment you have
the floor.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
Well, I think it's a lot of you know, different
things to untangled here. I don't think that a lot
of you know, Josh Heipel, Tennessee, the fan base, you
know a lot of people were upset with the way
that Nico came out and basically said I'm gonna pay
for this amount of money, and you know, a lot
of the backlash came for you know, this is this
(37:52):
is not why the NIO was created. Uh, you know,
the kids are turning it into a pay for play
type situation. But just going back to what TJ said,
you know, Josh hyper went and got another contract when
Tennessee outperformed you know what they were supposed to do
(38:12):
a couple of seasons ago. So you have that and
now you teacher, you know, commented on then why are
all the wide receivers from Tennessee, you know, jumping in
the portal and just doing some of the research. I mean, offensively,
Tennessee was ranked fifteenth in college football last last year,
so that's not bad. But it comes into play where
(38:36):
Josh Hypel is from our era. We know what kind
of football that he wants to play. When you have
running back to run for fifteen hundred yards almost there's
not enough balls to go around. So now you're looking
at the wide receivers. The wide receiver, the leading wide
receiver for Tennessee has season to yourds. I would jump
into the portal too, because I'm there to play wide
receiver and I'm not a running back of whatever the
(38:57):
case may be.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
But TJ.
Speaker 5 (38:58):
You said that the Tennessee offense it's good for college football.
And if it's good for college football, then while all
these wide receivers jumping in.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
The border, they not prepared at the next level. Look
at jaalen Hye unanimous All American but letting the Koff
Award winning. But you just said that because they.
Speaker 5 (39:16):
Want His job is not to prepare them for the
next level and to prepare them to win football games.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
But they look at the players that go to the
NFL that were great at Tennessee, they're doing nothing in
the league.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
There's been a ton of great players come out of
Tennessee to play football.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
Man, No, no, no, no, on the side of the ball.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Yeah, not necessarily, That's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
Since Hypel has been a coach on the offensive side
of the ball. Those guys are non existent. They're not
playing well in the league. And Hyat is young and
Hypel just got there, so it may take some time.
But that's what these players are seeing. Mmm. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
I think that it's a it's an interest sting situation.
We didn't make it to the fact that Dan Lanning
is reportedly so called, you know, is a heat.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
Dan Lanning better be careful. He's doing all his talking.
He better be careful. He doing all his talking. He
better be careful.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Cold Cod says.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
Yes yeses for snitches. Yeah, over there doing all that
snitching and stuff. Break it out of here, Dan Lanning,
you know, you better chill. Bro. I don't know. They
got a lot to leverage.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
But hey, we'll see what happens with Tennessee and Oregon
and UCLA for that. So this is our ones up
on game Fox Sports Radio Hour two. Coming at you
next
