a swiggy with the Swaggy right here on the show
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. You know, I
wanted to bring up one thing you talked about, those
pharmacy toys, and you know we all got his kids
color forms. Easter Bunny brings a little you know, as
you said, the pharmacy type of toys. Yeah, the Willie Willie.
Do you remember the Woodie Willie? Who doesn't That's the
guy you can make a mustache on them, right, Yeah,
(02:35):
sounds like the mag the magnet stuff. Yeah, it's not.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
So.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
I wanted to get my kids some baseball cards and
I told them, I said, hey, listen, Easter Bunny's gonna
bring your other stuff, but dad wants to bring you
to the baseball card shop. Nice, and let me tell
you something. Not as easy to find baseball cards as
when we were kids. I know we went to the
baseball card shop. But you almost gotta seek a place
out because Walmart Nola carries baseball cards target much like
(03:02):
Pokemon cards. If you got a little kid, all the
years old down. So there's always going to be the
local baseball card shopp and you hope they're opening. You
hope they got what you want. But I was I
was stunned at how much cards are nowaday.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
It is a.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Lot of special cards out sane. No, I'm talking regular tops.
Is it bad to to what's the politically correct term
to take a card back that you gave to somebody?
I don't know the politically I don't know the politically
correct term for that, dum button, So be careful.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
No, no, no.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
But this weekend, this Easter weekend, my sister said, remember
those stacks of cards you gave to James. I was like, yeah,
She's like, you know, there was an autographed show, Hey
o Tani in there.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
I was like what.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
I was like, I'm sorry, can I have it back? Please?
You give her of things? Can I get that back?
Speaker 4 (03:56):
It's close, like regifting was the close that I could
go about it exactly what it is.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
But Danny, j Dan Bayer, Cavino, you guys, allys we kids.
We talk about baseball cards as kids, right. I'm not
trying to sound like we're not even a little boy.
I'm trying to sell it the old timy time guy.
But I feel like there was a point where stadium
Club and upper deck. There were a couple dollars a packet.
I remember my grandfather get him at the seven to
eleven or the quick check or the local bodego. He's
(04:23):
had him on standby a couple bucks. Your dad would
be buying some cigarettes of coffee and some scratch offs
and he's throwing a pack of cards for you.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Did you get a hobby pack or a blaster pack
or oh, I'm telling you it's ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
I go there and uh, these are not the you know,
Dan Patrick Pinini collectible ones he does reads for I'm
talking like, I was just like, let me just get some.
I was really trying to find like the cheapest cards
because my kids are not going to like take the basket, right,
They're not going to take care of them. And I said,
I'll throw these in here with the Easter bunny stuff
because I want you guys to have some baseball cards.
(04:57):
And these are the those basic tops twenty twenty five.
No you know, no shiny, no inserts, none of that stuff.
Basic cards. Aaron judges on the cover, a super pack
which is still forty cards, so don't get me right,
it's like a thick ass pack. You know you can
get them. Surprisingly, the car wash sells them hard. Yeah,
they have them there once in a while. Maybe I
(05:19):
should buy some since they're so hard to forty cards.
So it's a big ass pack of cards. Who would
you believe it was thirty bucks? That's insane. No, I
don't believe that thirty bucks. And then I looked at Oh,
maybe I'll look online. That's a lap dance and a
half worth of cards they have. Wait, hold on, how
much is the lap dance nowadays? Twenty five last?
Speaker 3 (05:40):
No way? Really?
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Five bucks goes to show you what a good guy
I am. But the point is the kids still get
fascinated by it. But it's not a cheap thing. Thirty
bucks are a big value pack of tops cards. Tough
times for the Easter Bunny. And it was happened to silly,
petty guess my son the other day. I was telling
you who let's if you pay attention to my stories?
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Who do?
Speaker 1 (06:04):
My son says? Two favorite players are he said, Lindor yeah,
and Otani in his megapack. He pulled the away and
I almost want to be like, buddy, that's got lucky Palin.
It always happened. I was like so he guys should
get a bunch of Johnny Grubbs and Don Assis. Oh man,
(06:27):
another Jeff Musselman.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
You know what they do in some some companies, and
I'm not sure exactly which ones is now, they'll put
old players in, the guys who had already played. So
when you and I were growing up, we'd be like, oh, look,
I got Dwight Stevenson center, right, you know from the
Miami Dolphins. There's no lineman in any of these anymore,
Like it's been replaced by like Thurman Thomas. You know, Oh,
(06:52):
I got a Troy Aikman card in this pack at
twenty twenty five.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
Whatever. It's a completely different game.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
They're switching, man. But there's definitely a huge, a growing
buzz again around all these cards for sure, and just
for all the parents whose kids are into I roll
my eyes at it, but hey, my son loves it. Pokemon.
Pokemon cards are like five to ten dollars minimum per
little pack. Like it's a market man, you know what,
let me promote our bonus pod. Then rich Over promised,
(07:20):
because we talked about the greatest athletes of all time,
but we also talked about the greatest polls in baseball cards,
basketball cards especially. We talked about it on Over Promised,
our bonus podcast Fox Sports Radios YouTube page, episode eighty eight,
and this week I think KFC from Barstools stop them
by the show. So that's on Fox Sports Radio's YouTube
page because we always run out of time on this show,
(07:40):
so over Promise check it out. Did you happen to
see that clip Dan Bayer a big Cat from Barstool?
It's insane. That is such a cool clip. It really
is of doing what so big cat?
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Who you know?
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Part of part of my take on Barstool. He's doing
a he bought a pack of he's doing a basketball
fleeor from like eighty the Jordan Rookie one. Yes, and
I think he spent like you know those packs go
for like eight hundred pack. Yes, whul don't you believe it?
Second card, they're slowly opening. He pulls a Jordan Jordan
(08:17):
Rookie which could it could be hundreds of thousands of
dollars based on the rating. Yes, so a big payoff,
but it was pretty cool. Like just watching the on
the unopening of that pack gave me anxiety. Speaking of
cards back in the day, which was a Tuesday. I
do remember collecting wrestling cards. They were grimy, they were
old school wrestling cards, and it's crazy to see how
(08:39):
much it's grown. This weekend we saw WrestleMania, and the
big story is John Cena's back. John Cena is the man.
Not only is John Cena back, not just him. Seems
like some of his hair is back. That's take a
listen to Sena. He was on the Pat McAfee show
this morning post WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
That's the thing when you get it, like, so you
get the deal right, and your hair falls out because
the new ones have to grow, so the old one
falls out. So like in January February, it was like
I had it in November. That's when I came to
like half a skin hit up here you guys. Oh,
by the way, thank you for being so aware of
my needs and emotions, because you guys ripped me to
(09:19):
shreds for a genetic problem that I can't control. Wait, dude,
you don't look good enough out there, Like that's what
I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
This isn't cool.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
You guys aren't cool to me.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
There's John Cena talk about how he was bullied into
fixing his hair well, he was going bald. It wasn't
a good look. It wasn't working for him, right, and
that Scott van pel always says, yeah, it is take
it home, take it home. At that point, I don't
know if it was taken home worthy, but it was noticeable, right,
he had a noticeable bald spot. Couldn't help but notice
(09:51):
it. It was at receding he actually had like the circle
on top. I do think we as men have to
be more accepting of these things and just sort of
lean into it. Like we worked with a guy that
wore a hat for like two months straight and everyone
was talking about him behind his back because everybody knew, like,
and once he took the hat off, he had a
full on pompatour, right, So I think we need to
(10:12):
just be more understanding of that and make it more
acceptable because it's becoming more and more common. People are
doing all these trips to Turkey, these all inclusive trips,
coming back with full heads of hair. You know, women
are doing things all the time. Hey, we gotta be
okay with dudes fixing their hair. I was gonna say women,
women do these type of things all the time, and
(10:32):
they talk about it with each other and publicly. Some
girl will be on TikTok being like I'm going for
my boatox and filler in my and my ass tuck
and whatever. Guy does something with his hair, we crucified. Yeah,
guy has to be all guys. Guy has to hide
it under a hat for you know, the rest of
his life. Guy fixing his hairline has the secrecy of
(10:53):
a girl getting a boob job in the eighties. We
have to be like you go, queen. We have to
do that. You go see way to go by because
and you know why, I want to do that because
it might be me one day now. I don't want
to hear flak from anybody. I'm fascinated by when women
do things to improve their looks. It's encouraged and they
cheer each other on. Yes, bam baboom. I applaud John
(11:16):
Cena because I saw John Cena come back and he
had his floppy almost like his nineteen nineties mushroom haircut.
I'm like, yo, he's got a big balt spot look.
It's terrible and so he's post problem. But I didn't
say it out wow, but I noticed it, and I
thought to myself, here's John Cena movie Star Wrestler champion.
(11:37):
So I said it, man, it's genetics, and that's why
Lebron can't do anything about it. It's just you know,
in his DNA at this point. And I'm sure he's
tried and we've seen it appear and reappear and disappear
and all that, but he was sort of bullied into it.
So think about this Fox Sports Radio Nation, because I
have an answer. We all have an answer. We'll go
around the room. Let's chop it up. The times you
(11:58):
were bullied into doing something by it was for your
own benefit, for your greater good. I was bullied and
I held out so long. I was ruining the group
text messages for so long because I had an Android.
Oh you did, I had an Android? So oh oh,
so you're that guy. People like, here's what happened. Then,
you know, I was going on dates, and then I
(12:19):
was realizing this is when I was single. I just
got out of a divorce, and people, the women I
was dating, they're like, he has an Android. So I
was getting looked down upon. And then I met a girl,
girl that I'm currently with till this day. She's like,
if you're going to date me, you gotta get rid
of that Android. I'm like, Wow, this is serious. Huh,
this is a real thing. And between her and all
(12:41):
my buddies and Rich and I'm ruined the group messages
and all that stuff because my texts were green. It
was a it was an issue. I guess I got
bullied into finally getting an iPhone, and I have to say,
you know, I like it. I guess I'm more accepted.
It works. It didn't change my life, but at least
I got you off my back. So I'm a fan.
(13:03):
But I wasn't really against the Android, but Rich, I
was totally bullied into that by you guys and my
current girlfriend. What were you bullied into doing that benefited you? Yeah,
I guess. I guess you could say it benefited me
in the sense that people don't look down on me
anymore because of the Android. It could be a show,
it could be a movie, it could be something you do.
(13:24):
I feel like I feel like I was sort of
shamed into trying sushi for the first time. How about
we shamed you into getting a fade. This guy had
a haircut like he was Mel Gibson up until we
have a Mel Gibson hairspot. Did we not bully him
into getting a.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
Fade like George Washington like side this guy had like
old wig.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Yeah, he had like mad dog, like a cocker spaniel earflaps. Yeah,
you know, like where the hair went over his ears.
He had side poofs and we we were like, dude,
just can you please get like a normal buzz cut
from a barber. He would sit under those those moon
things that the old lady sit under the salon like
a hair Now, yeah, Rich would do that. It's the
salon all the time. And now ironically Rich she used
(14:09):
to aquinet like a longer hairdo is coming is back now,
so you might have to grow your hair back. But
for the longest time, we're like, dude, do you just
get a fade? Yeah, an old guy hair do. It
was the right move, But you act like I just
had longer hair on the sides. I used to it
was not with scissors. Now it's now a longer hairstyle
is probably in style. Should probably go back. But for
(14:32):
the longest time he had never gone to a barber, never,
up until maybe five six years ago, had never gone
to a barber, and we bullied him into it. You
got to you got to accept it. Sometimes sometimes your
friends or family might bully you into something and at
first you might be like, oh, well know, and then
you're like, you know what, thanks for doing that, because
(14:55):
I'm better off for it. I mean, I hear this
a lot when it comes to those jobs and things
like that. Like certain people like they don't want to
but then they're haggled and harassed so much and it
turns out to be the greatest thing they ever did.
Now I'm not condoning or promoting that. I'm saying certain
things might work to your advantage and you put it
off for so long. How about Spot with the gym.
If you ask Spot, we we bullied him in the
(15:17):
early two thousands all the time, and he has all
this crazy resentment about how we bullied him. But we
would say he was paying for a gym membership and
never went. Now, this guy thinks he's an Adonis flexing
all the time because we bullied him to go into
the gym. If anything, we should get a little credit.
That's what I'm saying. I know, now he's a mister ripplepex.
I give you zero crick, I know, but dude, how
(15:39):
much how often do we tell you were just mocking
me for not coming to the gym with us. Come
to the gym with m went to that gym. We
didn't tell him to go to the gym all the time,
and he never went to the gym ever, came with me.
I didn't know what to now. He's a gym rat.
Now I know what to do now he's a gym rat,
but a llah John Cena. Just something to keep in mind.
You might assume all bullying his bed. John Cena talked
about it on McAfee today. Not all bullyings Vegas. Sometimes
(16:02):
sometimes it's just a solid encouragement. Enough people say something
to you, you know, might better. You know it's all
in the presentation, might change really better. It really is,
because if you like John Cena, we could all say
he's dude. I love John Cena. I think it's a
solid move for him. He has a lot of tread
on the tires still, as they say, so for him
to rock that bald spot in a spotlight like that
(16:24):
where he's supposed to be the cool guy in the ring,
I don't think it matched his vibe. Don't you think
I think it was a good move for him. I
think John Cena unless he shaved his head completely. I
think it was the right move for sure. So Sina
the big star. The big star that was John Cena.
I thought that was ernest he does. I thought Pee
(16:46):
Warrel was on steroids. So WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
That wasn't.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Your phone calls. You were bullied into something, but it
was the solid move, Joe and Virgin You will start
with you a llah, John Cena. Have you ever been
bullied into something and you're like, you know what, I'm
sort of glad. I'm so glad. I was what's up? Man?
Speaker 5 (17:05):
Hey, guys not necessarily bullied into too much. But my
old man talked me into a pedicure one time when
I was totally against it. And I'll tell you what,
when you're done as a guy getting your first pedicure,
you're gonna be so happy with the softest feat the
best feeling calves you've had. You won't knock them anymore.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
Oh is that why they call you soft foot?
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Joe?
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Yeah, thank you, buddy, Joe, SFJA everybody. That's a great
example because I have had I've gotten pedicures with why
my wife and ex girlfriends, and there are guys on
pedicure I would never And I'm like, oh, if you
know which his wife gets pedicures with rich It's true. Yeah,
now he makes the appointments. But again it works to
(17:48):
your advantage. I'm sure it's a life changer. You know.
These guys bully me every time we're out to dinner.
They bully me into trying something new, some sort of
seafood thing that I I'm sure I've had before, but
I don't want it, but they just won't stop until
I try it. Every once in a while, you'll come
across something like, you know what, I think I like it.
So sometimes it could work to your advantage. Something to
(18:10):
keep in mind. All right, Hey, coming up, we are
going to play a little NFL Draft trivia. Yah, we
got it man, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, three sleeps, three kids.
My kids would say three sleeps until the NFL Draft. Yeah,
but all the superstars aren't going this year? Is it
cool to not go?
Speaker 4 (18:28):
Well?
Speaker 1 (18:28):
The other question is are we going to find an
Aaron Rodgers update before then? In the next seventy two hours,
does Aaron Rodgers make any life decision? I mean, we
were so certain, like a week ago, so certain. Maybe
we could bully him into making a decision. We'll take
your feedback and if you want to play this game,
(18:49):
let's do it eight seven, seven, nine to nine on Fox.

a real nice water bottle for your kid to lose.
(21:15):
And you know it's multiple choice. It's NFL Draft trivia,
but multiple choice, Like Rich, what kind of genes? What
kind of gene shorts was Brett Farm wearing when he
was drafted? Were they A Lee's, b Levi's ce wrangler
or d Jordan ash Oh, I'm gonna go see wrangler
cee wranglers? Correct, Wow, I was wearing Wrangler, Actually I
(21:38):
made that upon What gene shorts was John Cena wearing
last night? Oh? Jinko? Yeah. Man, it's all multiple choice,
it's all fun, but it's gonna get you hyped for
the NFL Draft trivia. I mean NFL Draft this weekend,
this week and we'll give away a prize in return
(22:00):
that I think eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
I think the NFL Draft is gonna be a lot
of fun and uh, We talked about it within the
last week after WrestleMania last night. NFL Draft is this
week and every week, and I know you're watching some
type of UFC. I was trying to think, is there
(22:20):
a fourth and I can't think of a fourth. I
think I'm setting in stone the top three things that
have come the furthest in our lifetime. NFL Draft, yeah,
UFC and WrestleMania. As far as evolution. As far as evolution, man,
it's unbelievable, and if you want to get hyped out UFC,
(22:43):
NFL Draft, NFL drafts definitely one of them. When you
think of how it was really nothing, Well, I was
gonna say nothing to something Foo Fighter stuff if you
want to if you have won a little homework assignment
and you want to watch something fun as we get
ready for the NFL Draft. From Lway to Marino is
a really great thirty for thirty And it's a reminder
that it was forty eighth years ago there was a
(23:04):
bunch of dude smoking cigars with now all three things
you described their specta quid with tan phones in a
wooden paneled room, making their picks all right, Well, you
could add to the list at Covino and Rich. But
now it's time to play NFL Draft trivia.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
All right, here we go NFL Draft Trivia. We are
kicking off Draft week by testing your knowledge. We're going
to meet the contestants right now. Yeah, turned that music
up for me, Big Ryan, the man who was once
mistaken for Tommy DeVito at the Newark Airport.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
Steve Covino, that's me, what's Stevie Culotz, Steve cutlets Man,
Stevie pork Chaffs.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
And the man who once drank six glasses of wine
out of forty nine Ers home game, Rich Davis.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
It's likely then spilled soup out of the lat I did.
I did spilled soup on my left, and I did
see Tommy Cultz at the airport.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
That's the story and there's no picture proof. And right
over there the man who first suggested that Travis Hunter
play on both sides of the ball, Spotty boy.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
That's true years ago, Yeah, in high school.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
And to my right, right beyond the glass there the
man who was once grounded as a kid for shaving
the sides of his head to style a Brian Bosworth Spike.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Dan Byer, I did want the boz haircut. No one
knew what I was talking about, but I did want that.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
What about comedo in the nineties, did any of your
friends want to be like Anthony Mason or you know
those nicks with the hair? Are you serious?
Speaker 2 (24:27):
Of course?
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Oh yeah, they carved, carved in words and everything that
was dope.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
I had one friend that like followed that lead and
his parents were okay with it.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
I'm like, man, oh, Anthony Mason rip, All right, let's
go to the studio lines right now to see who's
playing for a stainless steel Swiggy damon in Montana? What up, Dame?
Speaker 2 (24:44):
What up?
Speaker 3 (24:45):
What do you do for a living there in Montana?
Speaker 1 (24:48):
I worked for a drywall company, Cool Drywalls, Help Building America.
Thank you man.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Here are the rules for NFL Draft trivia. The first
contestant with two correct answers is the champ. If there's
a tie, we have a tie breaker question. Your name
is your buzzer, But like always, you do have to
wait until all three possible answers are read. If there's
two wrong answers in a row, we move on to
the next question. Are you ready, I'm ready. Let's get
it on here. We go round one. What year was
the very first NFL draft held? A nineteen twenty four,
(25:20):
B nineteen thirty six or C nineteen forty two. Damen, Damon.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
I'm gonna say P B.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Nineteen thirty six.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
It is correct, good cool man, Damon on the board
right away. I'm sorry, a dB.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
I was just gonna say, I don't think during war times,
the height of World War two, let's have a draft.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Wrong kind of draft?
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Yeah? Right, well the drafts we're going on that year?
All right? Uh yeah, February eighth, nineteen thirty six. Dame,
you are halfway to a swiggy.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
I was drafted by the Bears. No, I'm going to Germany.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
We moved to round two. Damon on the board so far?
Round two? What was Tom Brady once quoted saying about
the NFL draft? A. I spent the draft actually helping
my dad redo his backyard. Didn't even check my phone much. B.
People didn't think I'd play one year in the NFL.
Or C. It wasn't a chip on my shoulder, it
(26:20):
was a bus.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Rich rich I feel like A. I feel like he
was hanging out with his dad during the draft.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Right, No spot spotty for the steal B. Yes, people
did not think I'd play one year in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
That combine photo sexy to combine. I think he got
bullied into looking better.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
So so far, Damon and spot on the board.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
I don't know what you guys, but I thought C
was going to be like I can't wait to get
to the NFL and screw over the Raiders in a playoff.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
Watch your mouth. Round three, here we go. Which NFL
team traded up to draft Ricky Williams in nineteen ninety nine.
A the Miami Dolphins, B the Baltimore Ravens or C
the New Orleans Saints. Steve Coveno got the truck? Question
is a no? Maybe a trick to you? Not Dolphins? Rich?
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Go ahead, Dan, you got yes?
Speaker 3 (27:20):
Remember they they basically gave away their entire draft everything. Yeah,
move up there? All right, so Damon.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Spot, But maybe I misunderstood the question.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
Well I could see Coveno, I I think, Well, when
I picture M running the ball, I picture him in
a Dolphins jersey? All right? Round four? Which team is
responsible for the first NFL draft? A the Chicago Bears,
B the Philadelphia Eagles, or C the Cleveland Browns Damon
(27:53):
for the win the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
You are right.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
It was an idea from Bert Bell, who owned the
Eagles at the time.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
He wanted to even the playing field with the teams
buying players who had more money.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
All right, Hey, way to go, Damon at a Havert home.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Yeah like that drywall, d And we are going to
mail a beautiful senor swiggy tea there in Montana.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
You know what else he needs when he's doing that
drywall and he's working hard, he needs some coozies. Yeah,
keep his hands last.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
You'll throw some of those in the package.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Yeah, there's some coozies in that, Damon. And again that's
to get you hyped out for the NFL Draft This week.
NFL Draft Trivia brought to you by Danny.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
G And tomorrow on The Dan Patrick Show, Guess who's
going to be joining us? Who's that think of Tuesday's
NBA Playoffs? Shaq flying in on his private plane shack.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Diesel trivia with his sweet yellow glasses that he's rocking.
Love those. Let's go to Dan Bayer for an update, dB.
What's going on man udb And.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
While you guys are on in the mornings, it'll be
Moncey Belanios in myself tomorrow afternoon in your stead he
on Fox Sports Radio like it. Yes, we are looking
forward to it as well. Gonna have a good time.
We're gonna have a much better time the Nico Harrison
has had over the last few months after trading Luka Doncic,
it's been anything but good. The Mavericks GM today speaking
(29:15):
with reporters, and this exchanged happened during that end of
season press conference.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
Why shouldn't you be fired?
Speaker 7 (29:22):
One? I think I've done a really good job here
and I don't think I can be judged by the
injuries this year. You have to judge from totality from
beginning to end, and so I think I have a
really good working relationship with Patrick. I think you had
in Rick. The leadership that we have is really elite.
And you'll see next year when our team comes back,
we're going to be competing for a championship next year.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
For Nico Harrison to the Mavericks, is this message next
year when Cooper Flagg's going to be in the NBA.
That's because the duke freshman and consensus Player of the
Year in college basketball entered the twenty twenty five NBA draft.

round series.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
Guys, back to you.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
Thank you, dB, thank you. As you talk about Nico Harrison,
let me ask you, guys, what does Nico Harrison have
in common with Katie Perry? They didn't foresee the backlash?
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Yeah, I thought you were going to say he's not
a real astronaut.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
I was going to say they both have great boobs,
but I wasn't positive that good guess. Yeah, I'm glad
I was right though, Yeah, because I you know what,
back to the astronaut story, I know they're not astronauts,
but it's amazing to me that it didn't dawn on
them that they might get this amount of backlash. It
never even dawned on the I think, you know what,
(31:36):
you saw William Shatner do a similar thing a couple
of years before. But you know, he was Captain Kerk
space related come back, acting like he accomplished something either.
I think that was the the vibe or misconception, however
you want to put it. What didn't Chad to do
the whole like it was the most beautiful thing I've seen.
He did. Yeah, he did. He didn't get the backlash
(31:57):
that they got. But again, it was how it was presented.
And when Katy Perry said, yes, I'll be the pop
culture person that goes to, you know, into space, she
never thought the world would be like no or else
they would have second guessed it. Yeah, Nico Harrison, he
got on the phone with Genie Buss and management with
(32:18):
the intention of like, Oh, the fans are gonna like this,
It's unbelievable. You gotta have the foresight, the John Foresite,
the twenty twenty. You gotta have the vision to know
that there's an other side of flip side to your
potential moves. What are the repercussions. I'll give you a
(32:39):
way dumbed down version of this. There are times in life, sports, entertainment,
your marriage, your friendships, your work where you just you
don't see it coming, like you you've even thought it
out in your head, like all right, I'm gonna make
this move. You're like, oh, I didn't anticipate this. And
I think Nico Harrison, as we talked about them a
(33:00):
bunch today, he would have never thought, well, all right,
I'm gonna I'm gonna test the waters. I think I'm
gonna trade Luca. He never thought, Wow, the city and
everyone's gonna hate my my because exactly he does. He
does make a point, had everybody stayed healthy and had
you gotten a healthy ad But those are big risks,
those are big what IFFs. As Dan Byer said earlier,
(33:20):
he's banking on a healthy great players, but he's banking
on everyone from uh Kyrie to ad to these got
to be healthy all the time. Yeah, aging superstars too
who were injury prone. So it is a big risk.
But he does make a point it wouldn't have been
as bad had they stayed healthy. Not the case. So
(33:41):
there's the commonality between Nico Harrison and Gail King and
Katy Perry. They didn't even see the repercussions here the
potential backlash that they'd get, and we talked about those
being defining moments. But I think another fun angle is
when when you really didn't see it coming, like you
may have done. I like the dumb example is Ice.
I got all these old home videos of my mom
(34:03):
when she was a little girl with her parents. I
found them on the Word of the Eight millimeter. I
got them digitized and I put it to like a
slide show with music and everything. I gave it to
my mom thinking she was gonna be like, you're the
greatest son ever. I thought I was gonna get like
pats on the back, like man, there's river to get
dawn on you. That it could be an emotional moment.
My mother was crying, it's like this, the worst life
(34:25):
is fleeting you do this. I'm like, God, but I
uh so, just to know that people in life, not
just sports, make decisions thinking, oh, I'm gonna get a
pat on the back. Meanwhile the world ends up hating them.

you by Shipstation. I was just looking at nights NBA
games and are good friends with DraftKings. Yeah, a couple
of props I think I like. In fact, forget, I
think I do like Pistons at Knicks. Knicks are up
one game.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
How about that fourth quarter from them? Right?
Speaker 1 (37:15):
I can meano. We're not in New York, so I
feel like when I talk to my friends back East,
there is a sense that like the Knicks do have
a buzz again, no doubt it's it's clear, but I
just wonder. Tonight Brunson scored thirty four in game one,
the over unders thirty and a half. I think I'm
going under. I don't think. I mean maybe maybe Pistons
(37:40):
play tougher tonight. I don't know. I'm just going I
just have a hundred saying to watch Cunningham and so
and who else towns for New York. I think under
thirty and then I just think it's Joker domination time.
I like Jokic twenty eight or over. So I like
over on Jokic, under on Brunt and who knows, we'll
(38:01):
see DraftKings have fun and sib storyline is that Joki
has taken more of a leadership role in the clubhouse,
in the locker room this playoff season, which is kind
of cool.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
That was the best game of the weekend, went to
overtime and blow for blow. I thought that was the
most exciting game.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
You know, I have a thought over the weekend, Andy,
and it has nothing to do with the NBA. As
we get ready to get out of here, It's a
question that has to do with sports, work, children and pets.
I'm tying it all together. I saw that your no,
I said, children, children, sports, pets, and work a lot.
(38:37):
I know, don't worry. I saw your boy show Hey
o Tani show, Hey show how Tani became a dad
and he wrote a really beautiful message on social media
and he missed the first two games of a series.
And now he's back in action. And you know, we
(38:59):
all know he's famously has his little doggie that everyone loves.
In fact, his dog has bobbleheads, decoy, decoy the doggie.
I also saw something today that the biggest star in
New York baseball not Wan Soto, Trent Grisham. I think
is poternity leave right now? So you had a baby too,
(39:20):
I get it all good, no problem with the paternity
leave of Tony's back. I'm just asking you because Cavino,
you're a dad, I am. Your daughter's a teenager. Yeah,
when your girlfriend have no kids together. But you have
a doggie. Yeah, it's his birthday today and three years old. Yeah,
so see it all ties together. I saw Covino's little
doggie over the weekend on Instagram, and your girlfriend went
(39:43):
out in bottom of those cute little cakes made for dogs.
And I said to Cavino, if you become a dad
again and have more kids, that'll fade away. I'm under
the belief that people that have all this love for
pets it when you have kids, but you're not a
pet person, you have kids, the dog love fades. I
believe you still love you still love your pet. But
(40:05):
I'm understand what you're saying because I do have a child.
But I think that you and I both aren't true
like animal people. And if you're a true animal person,
you still gonna have kids, still love your animal. But
your girlfriend's a type of buy his clothes for your dog,
and that's not true. She has one Yankee show the
other day. You butt your dog's shoes. Yeah, he hasn't
(40:26):
worn them pants. He butt his dog shoes and he's
saying he's denying this. I mean, he's got cooler shoes
than you, if you want to be honest about it,
the woes. But yeah, well you know you gotta keep
things in mind. You're painting a weird and inaccurate picture here.
We live in Los Angeles, so it's either I take
how am I gonna take this dog out for a walk.
If you don't put something on his feet, it's gonna
(40:47):
burn his feet. He's a little foofy dogs. We're talking
a little foofye dogs. Dogs have lived generally now, not
his son. I don't know. Maybe they have burnt feet.
I'm not a dog person. I don't have to tell you.
I'm just saying, they tell you, they tell you not
to take your dog out for a walk. I'm just
then forget you. Does shoe Han Tottie care less about
his dog today because now he has a father of
(41:09):
a human And my answer is yes. I think it's
how you come into the situation. You came into this
situation not really caring about your dog in the first place.
So of course your kids are gonna take president. Your
kids are always gonna take president. That's a given. You
can't compare the love of your kids to an animal.
I just feel but I think that some people who
care about their dog genuinely are still gonna have that
(41:31):
same genuine care for their dog. They're just gonna love
their kids more. Not every dog takes a back seat
and is almost gone out of the family, like your dog.
I don't know. Richard never hasn't walked his dog since
he had kids. That's the truth. The dog doesn't go
for walks. Yeah, exactly, which bull dogs aren't supposed to
go for walks? Yeah, when they're three hundred pounds, because
you haven't walked them. Exactly.
Speaker 3 (41:51):
He's been in his crate ever since he was born.
Speaker 1 (41:53):
Your thoughts. You could chime in at Covino and Rich
show continues there show Hey doesn't care about his dog anymore.
We'll see you guys, are there, baby, see you in
a promised land.
