Speaker 4 (03:55):
Action as it goes down today.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
But guys, we're gonna start with what would you grade
this trade?
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Because Tuesday was a big day in America. I don't
know what happened.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Oh, well, we're going to We're going to talk about
the NFL trade deadline.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
It's so much less stressful doing the NFL trade deadline
on the West Coast though, because everything's over oh yeah
by one pm. Although it is more stressful because you
have to wake up a lot earlier because by the
time I.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Was that better though, I mean, I don't know, like
you have the rest of your day. Yeah, you got
the rest of your day.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
I mean, but I'm also biased.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
So okay, but we're going to start with what I
think the most shocking thing to me was is that
the Cowboys were buyers not sellers. WTF, you guys, The
Cowboys are doing something extremely delusional. They refuse to give
up despite everything trending in the wrong direction. They traded
(04:49):
for wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a seventh round pick
and gave the Panthers a fourth round pick. Now, let
me just give you some notes on Jonathan Mingo. In
twenty four games, he's in a second season, he does
not have a career touchdown. He has fifty five catches,
five hundred and thirty nine yards.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
And no touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
You guys, no touch.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
And just to put this into perspective, the Titans got
a conditional fifth round pick for DeAndre Hopkins from the Chiefs,
who is a much better player than Mingo.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
This is crazy. This is Cowboys big get.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
It's even crazier when you consider who the Cowboys have
been able to get in the fourth round and therefore
what they forfeited. Dak Prescott is a fourth round pick. Yes,
there have been multiple Cowboys starters because the Cowboys do
for all of the things that they do wrong, what
they do right is draft, which.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Is why they should have knocked up on draft picks.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
It it was an overpay, I think it. I mean
it was a good call to go get a receiver,
I guess. But then in the same breath you're going
to talk about how Dak Prescott's season may be over.
He still hasn't been put on IR by.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
The way, No, he did get put on I think yesterday.
Speaker 5 (05:58):
No, he still hasn't. As of an hour ago. He
was it was the Cowboys did not actually put him
on IR yet.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
So they talked about putting him on IR yesterday.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Yes, but they're also like debating is he gonna get
season ending surgery? Like he's dealing with a major hamstring
issue where part of his tendant tore off the bones.
That's not an easy like, Oh, he'll be back and
he'll be at full strength. So like, not only did
they not stuck up on draft picks, which is what
they should have done, because it feels like, Okay, we're
in a semi rebuild situation, but they think they could
(06:27):
still win even though they just lost Dak.
Speaker 5 (06:30):
They're just trying to stay relevant. That is all Jerry
Jones ever wants to do, is be relevant. If you
think that the Cowboys are trying to actually win, you're
diluting yourself. They are trying to stay in the headlines.
They are trying to stay relevant, and they are going
to hammer the whole We're five and one with Cooper
Russia quarterback till the Cows come home. But this is
exactly what we've come to expect out of the Dallas Cowboys.
(06:51):
I mean, yes, did it make all of the sense
in the world to sell off some pieces and offload
some different contracts that are gonna come down the pipe
and stockpile draft picks, because again, that is something that
this team does.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Very very well.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Sure were they ever.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
Going to do that and admit in Week ten that
this was a lost season. Of course not that is
not Jerry Jones. That is not the Dallas Cowboys. And
I mean, for all intents and purposes, Cooper Rush is
an excellent backup. They are going to be able to
sneak through some wins. And you needed another receiver, but
you overpaid for Jonathan Mango and you don't know what
he can be, but he is going to have to
(07:25):
be immediately impactful given the fact that the only person
now on this offense is Ceedee Lamb without Dak Prescott,
by the way.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Yeah, which is crazy.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Like I just want to remind people, like that rush,
that rush, that run that you went on with Cooper
Rush in twenty twenty two is a big difference. The
Cowboys then had a really solid run game in twenty
twenty two. There were second in rushing touchdowns, they were
ninth in rushing yards per game. Now they have the
second worst rushing yards per game and they are tied
(07:55):
for last in rushing touchdowns. So my question is, what
do you think you're going to be able to do
with this team When you had Dak Prescott, who was
an MVP finalist last season at highest quarterback.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Rugling this year.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
So if you can't do it with your starter, why
do you think you're going to be able to do
it with your backup when the team was in a
completely different situation last time he came in.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
That's that's not the context that Jerry Jones is worried
about Alex.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
He's not gonna say he's a zero sense, no zero sense.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
Now they're they're trying to stay relevant. That is what
the Dallas Cowboys do and will continue to do. And
we're going to see Dak is currently seeking a second opinion,
that is. But Ian Rappaporre just came out literally right
before we got on saying it is thought to be
season ending. It looks like a season's over. He won't
have surgery, it's what it is. But he still is
going to get a second opinion.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
But this also comes after longing the waiver ryer was
due already to declare whether or not these guys are
on IR and Cowboys still haven't put Dak Prescott, but
that should be coming. It's just they're not normal.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
They're not Okay, carm what do you grade this trade?
Oh God, I'm going to give this trade an F
because they should have been sellers not.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
The whole situation to me is a fail.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
I'm still going to give it a D because, like again,
this is going to be another This is going to
conceivably help Cooper Rush because he's going to be in
a better situation because there is another receiver on the field.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
But I'm not going to go beyond that.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yeah, Okay, f failed situation for me, dfer Carmon. Let's
move on to some teams that did make some good
moves though, and we're gonna start with the Lions landing
Zadarius Smith from the Browns, which fills that Aiden Hutchinson
hole this season. That was kind of like the only
damper that the Lions had. It's a massive one, but yeah,
(09:40):
it's massive. This is already a complete powerhouse team. That
was a huge blow losing Hutchinson, but again, this team
has super Bowl expectations. Jared Goff is in the MVP conversation,
and this is a situation that if you can jump
on it, you have to. You're filling the whole, the
exact hole that you need to keep on pace. And
(10:02):
they they clearly know they are that team. And can
be that team and have the potential to reach that
super Bowl level.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
I mean they are toying with their food.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
Offensively, defensively, they've done some really interesting things after losing
eight Hudginson, because there is no replacing Aid Hudginson. He
still leads the league in pressures, by the way, even
though he's out, yes, and he's missed, and he's missed
the last month and a half. That's crazy, it's wild.
You know, he was on pace for We were really
robbed of a very special season from Adan Hutchinson, so
there is no replacing him. But what was interesting is
(10:35):
in the interim before they went out and made this move,
they actually increased their blitz rate to kind of account
for the fact that they weren't banking on getting pressure
with four anymore.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
So you now see.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
That and like their whole offensive kind of strategy change.
They blitzed more, they blitzed from different levels of the defense,
and it was working because there's still a very good
defense and complimented by an offense that can score thirty
points in their sleep.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
So now I'm going to be very interested to see though,
because when Aiden Hutchinson was in the lineup. This entire
defensive line was based on isolating a really good matchup
for him, So basically trying to take attention away and
that's a shout out to Alee McNeil, to DJ Reader,
taking attention away from the offensive line and making them
contend with those guys on the interior so that Aiden
(11:21):
Hutchinson could be one on one. Well, then since Aiden
Hutchinson went out again, you've got more guys involved in
the rush, You're blitzing more. Are you going to continue
doing that even with Zadarius Smith because he isn't the
player that Aiden Hutchinson is.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
I mean, no one can be at this or are
you going to revert back.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
To all right, We're going to try to get Zidarias
Smith as many good matchups as we possibly can, as
many of those one on one type things off the edge.
Is that going to be the you know, is we're
going to see an adjustment? Yeah, going forward, and I
think there will be some adjustment or you just add
him into the defense as it currently is. You can
you put him into this these blitz packages and everything
(12:00):
like that. It's just funny to me too, that like
Zadarius Smith is just collecting the NFC North like he's
the ash Pokemon, like ash in Pokemon of the NFC North.
He's collecting NFC North teams. Got to catch them all.
He's got to get to the Bears after this. But
I do think that this is going to just fortify
the Detroit Lions that much more. And I mean, I
(12:20):
don't know who's going to be able to stop them.
Like they're going to make the postseason. They should win
the NFC North. Yeah, they should be the first seed
in the NFC. I think they're the best team in
the league. We're going to see if that translates finally
to a super Bowl for Detroit.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
I would love to see it.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
I think a lot of people would. So what would
you grade this trade?
Speaker 5 (12:40):
Oh, this is the best possible person you could have
gotten without giving up too much?
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Yeah, which is the which is?
Speaker 5 (12:47):
That's the caveat here, Like if you were to get
a Max Crosby, then you're forfeiting so much future capital.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
Same.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
I'm also giving this an a because that was the
biggest thing for the Lions is like, we don't want
to give up anything because we are in such a
great place right now. How can we out, Well, yeah,
how can we add without losing our future and what
we have right now that's making us such a great right.
Speaker 5 (13:06):
They weren't willing to sell their souls no for this,
and I think that that was the right call. Again
because Brad Holmes has such a wonderful track record in
the draft.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
Yeah, all right, we're like semi SENDI same page.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Let's move on. Mike Williams to the Steelers. The Jets
traded Mike Williams to the season.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
To the Steelers, and he had some interesting words about
playing with Rogers this week.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Take a listen.
Speaker 7 (13:31):
Obviously going over there after you know acl not having
OTA's training camp. Oh, to get the chemistry right with
Aaron and it you know, he real detail, like what
he liked, so I for like me, not you know,
being able to go in there and transition in as quick.
Probably what went wrong.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
I could feel he was sugarcoating that a little bit.
That's right, Yeah, I mean he just he didn't have
enough time to find chemistry and build the trust with Rogers.
Obviously the situations with the injuries, but then also Rogers
miss mandatory mini camp and in these situations is the
exact reason and issue why you need to be there
(14:10):
for every mandatory situation when you have new guys with
the team, when you need to build that chemistry, when
you need to build that trust. But honestly, Mike Williams
should be thanking the Jets. He is in a much
better situation. The Steelers are one of the better franchises,
not a dysfunctional franchise like the Jets. They have a
solid quarterback situation upgrade, they have a Hall of Fame coach,
(14:32):
great defense, They're in the playoff picture. I don't think
it changes a ton, but it will help the Steelers
having kind of another veteran wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
In the room.
Speaker 5 (14:45):
I mean, the hard part about playing with Aaron Rodgers
is that you do there is so much detail that
goes into it, and it really does take a lot
of time. And like Mike Williams wouldn't have been there
for mandatory mini camp either, Like I get that point,
because he missed a lot of training camp.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
Yeah, all of that coming off of that in injury.
Speaker 5 (15:01):
And it's also though, and I've talked about this before,
all the reports that I've really seen from and I
haven't been at practice to know for myself. Yeah, but
it doesn't seem as if Aaron Rodgers really is taking
these guys aside when like the first team offense isn't
on the field and like really working through them. And
maybe he is, but like, it is an extremely hard
(15:23):
thing to be a trusted receiver by Aaron Rodgers, and
it really does come with reps. And that's what was
so disappointing about so much of Aaron Rodgers missing out
last year and then you know, being in and out
of OTAs and then training camp comes around and it
just doesn't seem like he's in for the all right,
I'm gonna help you get on the same page with me.
(15:45):
He's just expecting you to be on the same page
with him, and he's like, this is how we're going
to do things. You fit in, And it's hard to
do that when you don't have the reps. So I
get it from Michael Avis perspective. He honestly got a
couple more targets than I thought he would after he
had that drop a couple of weeks ago. I do
really like him on the Steeler because he does exactly
what Russell Wilson wants to do.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Mike Williams is that true X kind of.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
Outside receiver Russell Wilson wants to throw outside the numbers
down the field. That's exactly what Russell Wilson wants to do.
He can do it to George Pickens. And now there's
another threat on that offense in Pittsburgh. And Mike Williams
up until this point in the season, has seven catches
gaining fifteen or more yards. So this is something that
again is going to fit right in with this Pittsburgh offense.
(16:26):
And it's still a defensive led team. But if you
can get some true offensive production, I don't just see
them finishing with a winning record again and eking into
the playoffs. I say there could be a legitimate playoff
run with the way that they're playing now if they
get more offensive production.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Yeah, I mean, they're what ahead in AFC North right now,
Like it's they're they're a solid team. They're a solid team.
Is for them to be LA coach? Yeah, Okay, what
would you grade this trade?
Speaker 3 (16:56):
B plus?
Speaker 2 (16:57):
That's exactly what I had it. That's exactly what I had. Okay,
real quick, We'll get to this one real quick. Commander's
trade for Marshawn Ladder the best.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
Trade this is the best one.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Yeah, did like didn't have a huge need, but just
a great player to help boost their OH.
Speaker 5 (17:11):
I would argue they had a huge needed quarner. Their
secondary is not go go up what it needs to be. Okay,
now you're going to put Marshawn Lattimore, four time Pro Bowler.
You're gonna hope you're going to get the Marshawn Lattimore
from like twenty twenty one more than the last couple
of seasons. He's played seventeen games of the last two
seasons leading into this year, had some injury issues, but
if you get the Marshaw Lttimore, that's closer to what
you had in twenty twenty one. He now is opposite
(17:32):
Mike Sanders still, who's a wonderful young corner in Washington,
and he ups the value of this Washington secondary, which
is something that was a huge concern for them.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Coming into this season. Even this season in general.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
And now with the Washington Commander's playing as well as
they are offensively, with Jayden Daniels their rookie quarterback, this
defense can now kind of sustain the success for them
and not have the Commanders have to go out and
score thirty five points a game, although we've seen them
be capable of that. Now you've got a defense that
you can kind of lean on a little bit more
because that defensive line is decent, is decently well. Their
(18:08):
offensive line, for that matter, is really really good. But
you have the secondary now that's shored up a little
bit with the splashiest trade of the trade deadline.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
All right, what would you grade this trade?
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Oh it's a nag.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Yeah, I also have any I just I hate that.
Speaker 5 (18:20):
They're breaking up the marsha On Latimore Mike Evans rivalry.
But it could still happen in the postseason, could still happen,
but it's it's I'll miss that.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
All right, guys, we're gonna take a quick break here,
but when we come back, we got our first college
football rankings this week.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
Did they get it right? You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
I'm Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitali, and we are
broadcasting live from the tark dot com studios in Los Angeles.
Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon carme and me.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
You guys, it is a great college football day.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Also big college football week because the college football Playoff
rankings came out on Tuesday, the first rankings released by
the College Football Playoff Selection Committee.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
And I'm gonna be honest, I think they look pretty good.
I think they look pretty good.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
At the top, you have unbeaten organ then you got Georgia,
my aunt, Wait where am I at?
Speaker 6 (19:28):
No?
Speaker 4 (19:29):
Here we go? Thank you?
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Sorry, Ohio State, Georgia, Miami, Texas. I was looking at
a different list, you guys, and honestly, I don't I
think this is a pretty fair.
Speaker 9 (19:40):
One.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Through twelve.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Let me just run through Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia, Miami, Texas,
Penn State, Tennessee, Indiana, BYU, Notre Dame, Alabama, Boise State.
Speaker 10 (19:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
Well, first of all, with the new format, you've got
twelve teams in the playoff this year, which is very exciting.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
So that's why this is a big deal, big deal.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
But it also doesn't mean just because you're ranked the
T twelve, that's not necessarily the twelve teams that are
gonna get in.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
It's not it's not like the former.
Speaker 5 (20:04):
BCS where like it's the's arbitrary rankings and that's who
determines it. They are going to We're gonna have a
whole selection show. They're gonna make content out of it.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Whatever. Yeah, I love that Oregon is right at the top.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
I mean, they're unbeaten Oregan, but they are putting on
for the shell of the PAC twelve because for so long,
and to be fair, there were so many times where
Oregon kind of faltered in the postseason against especially SEC competition.
But now they're handling the Big ten just fine, time
zones and all. They have the second highest strength of
record rank per ESPN, behind Georgia. So not only are
(20:39):
they unbeaten, but they have not had it easy and
that is something that I think is a very good
encouraging thing for a girl that was part of the
PAC twelve for so long. Yeah, they beat up on
Michigan last week, they beat Ohio State in week six.
They only have Maryland, Wisconsin, and Washington left. That should
be a cakewalk at this point. So Oregon is very
feasibly going to end the season on beaten yep, and
(21:01):
go into the playoff and hopefully kind of beating up
on the Big ten teams will prepare them to beat
up on some SEC teams in the playoff. I'm gonna
be very interested to see that. I do have an issue.
My biggest issue here is that Indiana is ranked eighth
because they're they are unbeaten to and I get that
(21:21):
they're Indiana.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
But they haven't been ranked opponents.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
No, that's not true. So they are.
Speaker 5 (21:27):
They have the seventh highest strength of record rank. They
are still in a tent in top ten with strength
of record ranks so far this season per ESPN. They
just scored a touchdown right now over Michigan, so they're
gonna go up to They're gonna go up two scores
now on Michigan. They are They also like when you
watch these games, Indiana is like the Detroit Lions right now.
(21:49):
They are beating up on everybody. And I get that
there's some teams that they should beat up on, but
this is not an Indiana team that we're used to
seeing being.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Able to do that.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
And they are just they look so incredibly solid across
the board.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
Offensively, they are scoring so many points.
Speaker 5 (22:04):
This is something that I feel like you can absolutely
put them up and I think it's gonna happen though
after this week, after Miami just lost to Georgia Tech.
Miami previously ranked fourth, they were another unbeaten team, third
highest strength of record rank per ESPN, and now they
just lost to Georgia Tech, so that is going to
go down. I think that Indiana has the ability to
move up provided they take care of business here with Michigan.
(22:25):
But they should, and I know that Michigan isn't the
Michigan that they used to be. Sorry Martin, but he's
giving me the stank guy right now. Yep, it's true.
But like Indiana is still showing up, showing out. Kurt
Signetti has those boys ready to play every single week,
and I just think that we need to give a
little bit more credence to the eye test when we're
talking about the playoff rankings.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
I they're in the top ten, which they deserve.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
I don't think it doesn't matter though, it's it's the
teams that they have beaten. I think once they can
get through some other higher ranked teams.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Then they can move up.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
As you said, with what Miami just losing for the
first time, and then if they can pull off this
win against Michigan unranked opponent, then it changes. Then it
can change next week.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
But this week I think.
Speaker 5 (23:12):
Is tremendousness is we'll talked about rising about it later
in the show about how disrespected Indiana.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Husband Nah, I think.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
This is right, all right, let's take it with Martin Wises.
He was trending.
Speaker 11 (23:22):
Just as in Michigan and Love. I'm on karmess out
of this Indiana. They're putting B two A and they are.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Doing it right now.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Yes, watch the game when they're doing it.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
Can it feel better?
Speaker 11 (23:31):
They're doing it right now to Michigan twelve ten left
in the second quarter, fourteen to three Indiana. Right now
they're six to zero in the Big Ten, nine to
zero in the regular season, undefeated, obviously Roork for the
quarterback two touchdowns ten for twelve, one hundred and twenty
two yards a game.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Ten are twelve ten left in the second quarter.
Speaker 11 (23:49):
There at the end of the first quarter, the Georgia
Bulldogs trailing to the Old Miss Rebels ten to seven,
Jackson dark through an interception that led to a Georgia touchdown.
Speaker 1 (23:58):
He actually left the game on the locker room is
back in now.
Speaker 11 (24:02):
PAIRAVN, so we'll see how it goes. But the due
old mis touchdowns drive vig enough Austin Simons led.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
It was four for five and just right down the field.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
Wow, just surgical there.
Speaker 11 (24:11):
Yes, I with Dayton Kansas right now the Cyclones in
the world are her twenty one to seven. The score
Kansas with the lead seven to fourteen left in the
second quarter.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Jayden Daniels, sorry, Jayalen Daniels.
Speaker 11 (24:23):
Six for nine, one hundred and seventy two yards, two touchdowns.
Who knows, maybe he'll also come out and never thrown
in completion in the NFL, too, Army in North Texas,
the twenty fifth ranked team in the nation. Army with
a seven to three lead over North Texas two or
four left in the second.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Nine minutes left in the second quarter between Clemson.
Speaker 11 (24:40):
And Virginia Tech, the twenty three ranked Tigers trailing the
Hokies seven to nothing. Kay Clublick has thrown an interception
and Colorado down early. The Colorado the twentieth team and
the nation right now trailing Texas Tech, who are wearing
their Patrick Mahorms Patrick Mahomes sponsored uniforms have Mahomes logo
right there with the Nike.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
To have a former quarterback with on a half a
billion dollar contract.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
When you do that, maybe new shoes for everybody.
Speaker 11 (25:06):
Texas Tech ten to nothing to score over Colorado six
on one left in the first quarter.
Speaker 6 (25:11):
There.
Speaker 11 (25:11):
Earlier today, Ohio State pounded Purdue forty five to nothing.
Jeremiah Smith with a touchdown, Travion Smith, Travon Henderson with
a rushing touchdown.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
And Will Howard had three through the air.
Speaker 11 (25:22):
Miami lost to Georgia Towns twenty eight to twenty three.
Cam wod did have three touchdown passes. But when you
give up what was it, I had it right here.
You give up like three hundred yards two hundred yards
rushing in the first half and then two hundred and
seventy one throughout the entire game.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
That's gonna not the rest of people.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
I picked Georgia Tech to cover, and I'm so glad
I did. Because Miami has not played a regular game.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
They really liked that.
Speaker 11 (25:47):
I honestly feel like all the complaints that you would
have about Indiana.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Straight the schedule should be they apply to Miami.
Speaker 5 (25:53):
Intern Miami has a good strength of schedule but like
they haven't won indominant fashion like Indiana House.
Speaker 11 (25:57):
That's what I meant. Like the way that they were,
they should have lost. The cow end up catching them
here twenty eight to twenty three. Kem Wore did have
three touchdown passes, Buddy fumbled in the last possession that
would have given Miami a chance to play for the win.
Texas pounds Florida forty nine to seventeen. Quinn Yewers five
touchdown passes, and the NFL Tyreek Khill has a rist injury.
Head coach Mike McDaniel says he's neither optimistic nor pessimistic.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Could play questionable.
Speaker 11 (26:20):
On the injury report, A Lave Chris Lave, out for
the Saints wide receiver, suffered a second concussion last week.
Adam Schefter's reporting that Cowboys quarterback Dave Prescott will likely
undergo season ending hamstring surgery. Astro and Cyberts ruled out
the kicker for the Commanders he will not play against
Pittsburgh and Zion Williamson, Pelicans forward in the NBA, is
(26:40):
going to be out in definitely due to a left
hamstring injury.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
Back to you guys, Thank.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
You Martin you're listening to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex
Curry here with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from
the tart dot Com studios in Los Angeles, and it
is time for our first guest. She is the smartest
mine in sports, NFL Network's analytics expert, host of Number Games,
Gordon and Clyde's mom my bestie, Cynthia Freeland.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
Welcome to the show.
Speaker 9 (27:04):
Hello, how's it going. I'm with Lordy and Clyde right now.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
Some snugs for us.
Speaker 5 (27:09):
How are you. I haven't talked to you in so long.
It's so good to hear voice.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
No.
Speaker 9 (27:14):
I saw Dave the other day, so we chatted.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
Oh yeah, he's been in our workout classes in the morning.
Speaker 7 (27:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
He's very good. He's very good at that. He's very diligent.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
All right, Cynthia, you put in a lot of work
this week leading up to the trade deadline. So in
your opinion, which trade do you think will have the
biggest impact for the rest of the season.
Speaker 9 (27:33):
I think it was the DeAndre Hopkins one. I know
Daria Smith is a huge one. I know Marshall Lattimore
that's also a really big one. However, I still think.
I actually think the combination of both josh Ucha and
DeAndre Hopkins to the chief makes a huge difference in
the AFC where that team is. So it's there. You know,
obviously they lost their wide receiver, she writes, but they're
(27:55):
just they're they're in such a great spot playing even
though they're playing a first place schedule, it's still a
light first play scheduled than usual because one of the
weird opponents they have this year is the entire NFC South.
So that's why you're seeing the ability for them to
kind of get that number one by in the AFC,
which is going to be a very big deal.
Speaker 5 (28:12):
Yeah, And honestly, I don't think that Patrick Mahomes has
really ever had a guy like DeAndre Hopkins who can
really go up and he can catch, he can come
down with those prayers that Patrick Mahomes is going to
throw up into double driple coverage and there's no one
better right now at contested catches, and I just think
that that is lethal when it comes to the Kansas
Age cheese. But Sin, I need to give you some
some opportunity to talk about your lions, because I'm very
(28:36):
interested to see this is something that we talked about
just a couple of minutes ago, the way that the Lions.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Attributed or made up for the fact that they lost
Ain Hunderson.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
Obviously there's no replacing him, but you see Aaron Glenn's defense,
he starts to blitz a little bit more rather than
trying to get pressure with FORO, knowing that he doesn't
have the power up front that he did when In
Hutchinson was playing.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
What do you think that they do now going forward
with Zadarius Smith.
Speaker 5 (28:59):
Do they kind of keep the same thing and usher
Zadarius Smith into what the adjustments are or do you
think they've got to go back and try to isolate
him on the edge and get him some better matchups.
Speaker 9 (29:09):
To me, that's the that's the best question, because there
there's two different reasons to blitz. There's one there's blitzing
because you're manufacturing a pressure, and that's probably what we
were seeing when Aiden Hutchinson wasn't there. And two, there's
blitzing because you trust your secondary and that's kind of
how Denver does their blitzes. I hope they blitz the most,
so I think that secondary has kind of proven itself
to be really really good. I mean, between Brian Branch
(29:29):
and Kirby Joseph, those two staties alone are really really
ridiculously paying, like playing out of their minds. So I'm
curious to see if that will change now. I would
imagine in this particular game. You know, I don't know.
I don't think zvarious Smiths will end up playing, but
I think this is, you know, the interior of the
Texans O line is not the strongest one ever. In fact,
(29:50):
they've given up the most stacks and Ali McNeill is
like that's where he does his damage. So I think
they're okay this week, but I'm going to be curious
to watch it going forward because, like I said, there's
two blitz there's blitzing because you have to and there's
blitzing because you choose to.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Right right, all right, Cynthia.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
One of the biggest shocks for me was that the
Cowboys were buyers and not sellers at the trade deadline.
And we're getting news that's coming out right now that
Doc is most likely getting seasoned ending surgery. Takeas like,
what was the thought process there? Why what do they
think they're going to be able to do?
Speaker 9 (30:24):
I mean, I'm not really sure, but it would you know,
this one's a little bit more confounding than others. But
it would seem that if you're picking up a guy
who's on, you know, a second season and deep into
his rookie you know he's done for touchdowns, right, I
don't really know what It's not like he was in
a great circumstance. He's very unknown, So I would imagine
(30:46):
they believe it's they're just creating an option for the future.
I don't know. That's a very I'm going to be
honest with you, I have a hard time explaining that
one other than.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
To stay the only what are you doing?
Speaker 9 (30:57):
Yeah? And also like why are they not playing trailer?
Because I want to know who I have there? Because
you could be creating for yourself and so Cooper Rush,
you could be creating with Trey Lance, some value in
the trade market. I mean, if he's really good. If
Trey Lance is really good, great, you could trade him
away at the end of next year. If he's not
so good, then at least you know what you have.
It's very it's very confusing. Well, I don't know what
(31:19):
it is.
Speaker 5 (31:20):
That would require the Cowboys to admit though that this
is kind of a lost season, and that they don't
really care about the quality of the quarterback play or
they can afford to roll the dice.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
I just don't see Jerry Jones doing that. Unfortunately, I
don't have words. I don't I don't either.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Think that's why they already know what they have in
Trey Lance, and that's why they're just kind of similar
to like admitting defeat by not putting them in.
Speaker 9 (31:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (31:44):
I think I think they're still trying to win, and
I think they feel like Cooper Rush gives them the
best shot to do that.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
I don't know, sin Well.
Speaker 9 (31:51):
Obviously that's what they'd say, right, Rush gives them the
best opportunity to win, But I don't know.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
What that means right exactly how far are you going
to go?
Speaker 8 (31:58):
Right?
Speaker 11 (31:59):
Right?
Speaker 8 (31:59):
When?
Speaker 9 (31:59):
What in the draft pick for next year or like what,
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
Your draft position next year?
Speaker 2 (32:05):
Really made no sense. Were there any teams that were
close to making a move that you knew about or
like kind of had some insight on that didn't anything
should have.
Speaker 9 (32:15):
I mean, there's every team can use. I was actually
very surprised overall that no Olignement, other than Cam Robinson
going to replace Christian darrisaw were traded because when I'm
looking at next year's draft class, it is very light
in the olignement way. There's not a ton of day
one starters at least. I mean, I've done a lot
of work on this O line already, this O line
(32:35):
class already, and I can't seem to find any unless
they're hiding somewhere that I have not yet to see.
I guess they could be hiding in like Australia. This
wouldn't be the first time, but you know, like but
but you know, it's it's weird, so I would have
I think some teams should have made that move. But
you know, that's that was surprising to me just overall.
And I would imagine some teams probably were in the
(32:57):
market for some people, like you know, I think we've
probably we'll hear that Aziz al Jalaris price was just
too high for a number of teams that were looking
for his services too. But I don't think anyone was
going to be paying like second round or whatever they were.
You know, I never believed there were reports, right because
the agents are liars, so you know, I don't know,
I don't know what it is, but I think it
was probably too high for for whoever is looking.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
Yeah, well then looking forward, do you foresee this? I mean,
I know we talked about this being like all right,
who's made them is going to make the biggest impact,
But does that then like shake up anything when you
look at all right down the line, who's going to
finish top of the conference? I mean, I think you're
dead on with the Chiefs being now like clear winners,
(33:39):
clear path to that first round by given DeAndre Hopkins.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
But are there any teams that really like upped where
you think that they'll finish now given what they've done
at the trade.
Speaker 9 (33:49):
Then life I think didn't do Yeah, I mean, look,
we'll see this week. Obviously, Marshall Lattimore is not playing
this week, at least to everything I've heard, right, so
you know that will make a huge difference. Because this
Washington defense has been playing better and better every single week. However,
it's not like their corners are really really scary and intimidating,
and the quality of their opponents hasn't been as high
(34:11):
as some other teams. That is the one knock on them,
and that is very fair, But they could easily win
the division if they could. You know, the Eagles, they
seem to be making a stronger push as of late. However,
you know, they dropped some weird ones earlier in the
season two and that's confusing. And I think that, you know,
the Washington getting into the playoffs is a very very
good thing. Maybe not winning the division. They could get
(34:34):
in as a wild card. So you know, I think
there's a lot of things and that that specific trade.
I mean, Marshall Lattimore has been a little banged up
all season long, but if he decides to play, and
we know things were really weird down there in New Orleans,
so I'm sure some of that is kind of like
the same injury DeAndre Hopkins had with his hamstring in Tennessee. Right, right, right,
and Devanta.
Speaker 5 (34:54):
Adams Right, all of a sudden, it starts to feel
a lot better in the new climate.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
It's got to be the climate, right, the climate change.
Speaker 9 (35:00):
Yeah, you know, everyone everyone gets a little like everyone
knows that Kansas City's weather is just absolutely better for
all injuries that can potentially have it.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
Exactly, Cynthia, we love you, thank you so much for
joining us.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
And if everyone is listening.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
Go and watch her numbers game if you want, like
inside information on all these games, all your picks, all
your players on YouTube.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
She puts out great work every week. We love you,
Sin love you too.
Speaker 9 (35:26):
Thanks for having me, guys, have a great day always.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
All Right, guys, when we come back, it's time for
the dues and the donts and sports.
Speaker 4 (35:31):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday at Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from the tark
dot Com studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending
your Saturday afternoon with Carmeie and me.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
So like eighties nineties nostalgia right now.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Like not mad at it? Okay, let's go. But you
know time it is for the time for the dues
of the Doulton Sports Baby.
Speaker 8 (36:00):
Love that putting a spotlight on.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
The don't the subject brings me no joy.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
That's insane.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts in sports.
Speaker 6 (36:10):
All right.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
I'm gonna start with the do do go all out
for your hobbies. So, just after winning the World Series
like under two weeks ago, Mookie Bets finished second place
during an amateur scratch tournament at a random bowling alley
this last weekend, and.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
There's a photo elite. There's a photo of him with
four other random.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Men, which is absolutely hilarious because Mookie is not like
a big guy, but like the other guys are like
very small compared.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
To to Mookie.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
And just like, can you imagine watching Mookie bets win
the World Series and then a week later he just
waltzes into your bowling alley and you beat him in
a bowling tournament a week later.
Speaker 5 (36:52):
Hilarious athlete, athlete, It's so good. I gotta don't start
out all right, don't change your stripes. Why Louisiana's governor
right now is trying to import another tiger in for
the Bama LSU game, which is in Death Valley, because
so full context, LSU has a live tiger mascot, Mike. Yeah,
(37:16):
he is on campus. He is in this wonderful enclosure.
He's a rescue tiger, okay, and he is in this
wonderful enclosure. He is under the care of Louisiana State's
Veteran School or veterinary school. Okay, And about ten years
ago they decided, all right, you know what this is
putting too much stress on the tiger. We're not going
to bring him into the stadium before the game. Yeah
he didn't stay for the game, but he would he
(37:38):
would come in and parade around. They decided to, like
a decade ago, this wasn't okay for the tiger. We
need to you know whatever. So now, for whatever reason,
Louisiana's governor is saying we want the tiger back in
the stadium. And LSU's veterinary students and not even the students,
the real like he's got two actual vets on staff
for him, or like, no, we're not letting him in
(37:58):
the stadium.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
That's not good for him.
Speaker 4 (38:00):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
So the governor wants to bring in another tiger imported
from somewhere else and bring him into the stadium.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
Absolutely not. Mike the Tiger is Mike the Tiger.
Speaker 5 (38:12):
Yes, students, go and say hi to him at his
habitat on their way to class. That is his domain.
Do not stress this tiger out. Also, we can all
tell the difference. Yeah, don't change your stripes.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
That's gnarly it is.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
Yeah, there are you Okay, I'm gonna do adu do
get that tattoo. A girl got a tattoo of the
Freddy Freeman Grand Slam.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
Oh, I did see that.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Her post said sports girls are so weird, Like, what
do you mean you got the Reddy Freeman Grand Slam
tattoo on you?
Speaker 4 (38:43):
It's me. I'm that girl.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
And it's a drawing of like the diamond with the
player's numbers who were on base, and then the ball
where the home run went like leaving the ballpark.
Speaker 5 (38:54):
Which is, it's so funny because actually this has been
a tattoo idea of mine since the Buccaneers one the
Super Bowl. I never got a Super Bowl tattoo, and
that was on my to do list, and I wanted
to get one of the play diagrams from that game, which.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
Is and I'm still going to do it.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
I'm still going to do it to be So that was.
Speaker 5 (39:13):
The hard part is there wasn't like one defining play
of that game in the way that like there was
in Kansas City's like Super Bowl the year before, Like
that was that game was one defensively, So I think
I might just get like the Bucks defensive like base formation,
because I know it.
Speaker 4 (39:28):
Get it on your rest rights.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
I don't know what I'm gonna get on my wrist.
I know I was.
Speaker 9 (39:32):
I was.
Speaker 5 (39:32):
No, I have another different race. I might get it
maybe on my bicep or something. But I still want
to commemorate that. Yeah, because I was part of you know,
the organizations I do.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
I've got three okay needles.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
No, No, I love tattoos. I think there's so much fun.
So we'll see. I've got a really quick do.
Speaker 5 (39:47):
Let's go do lean in ye safety Kirby Joseph Detroit
Lions handed out T shirts A Brian Branch look the
Double Birds to the green Bay bench after being ejected
from that game, handed out T shirts with that on
it to the entire lock. Zadarius Smith, New Lion, wore
that shirt to the Pistons game that night. Hilarious.
Speaker 7 (40:05):
So good.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
All right, guys.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
When we come back, we're halfway through the season, so
we're doing our mid season awards. You're listening to Fox
Sports Radio. Welcome to hour two of Fox Football Saturday.
I'm Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitally. Thank you for
spending your Saturday afternoon with Carmee and we We've.
Speaker 4 (40:25):
Had a lot of fun so far. Sure, it's been
a good show.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
We spent the first hour kind of talking about the
trade deadline, the college football playoff rankings. We had Cynthia
Freelan on the show kind of breaking everything down, and
this hour we're gonna do our mid season awards coming up.
But the whole theme of the show is just like
having fun today, right, because this whole week was just
doing things that make you smile.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
I've got my childhood best friend in the studio.
Speaker 4 (40:51):
To workday.
Speaker 3 (40:51):
It's so funny.
Speaker 5 (40:52):
This is the first time I think she's ever done
something like this. Have you ever been to work with
me before?
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Oh? Okay, yeah, I love that. I've like there's certain.
Speaker 5 (40:59):
People in my life, Like I remember in college I
got to bring a friend of mine to like, like
we played Georgia at home at ASU and I got
to like bring him to the game with a credential
and everything. I've gotten friends of mine and stuff like
on the sideline or do anything like that. This is
you never actually got to come to a Bucks game,
So I got her parents.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
Her parents have been to two bus games. Yeah, when
I was working for them and kids. It makes sense.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
But this is cool. It is this is like a
smiley day. You know what We've been like trying to
watch like more classic movies. And you know what I
watched last night for the first time that I've never
seen Swingers. Oh no idea, Your Money, Baby, Your Money,
Your Money a class. That was like mind blowing seeing
Vince Vaughan like that tiny oh and that young.
Speaker 3 (41:42):
I haven't seen that in forever, first time, first.
Speaker 4 (41:45):
Time, but it was great. Also.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
Okay, I know we touched on this last week real
quick before we get into this. After this week, I
think so many people just said if at it's Christmas time,
I need to like have some joy.
Speaker 4 (41:59):
So I need to ask a question. We're going to
take a poll.
Speaker 2 (42:04):
When is the appropriate time to start putting up Christmas
decorations and then to start playing Christmas music? Okay, because
right now I'm okay with Christmas decorations going up. This
week I saw a lot going up. There's a lot
of decorations going up. Music has to wait until after
Thanksgiving whenever you damn well please, no music has to
wait till after things. No music after Thanksgiving? Decorations put
(42:27):
them up.
Speaker 5 (42:27):
It is so harmless. If it makes you happy and
you need that, fine, go for it. My Christmas decorations
the trees.
Speaker 4 (42:36):
Yet partly see you were told there.
Speaker 3 (42:38):
The tree is not up yet.
Speaker 5 (42:40):
My Christmas decorations went up November first, and I make
no apologies about it.
Speaker 4 (42:43):
I can't.
Speaker 3 (42:45):
How great is my house, Christie right now? It's so cozy? Yeah, yeah,
we made ornaments. We made ornaments yesterday.
Speaker 4 (42:51):
Love that. Yeah, at Arts and Craft's Day. Okay, Oh,
whatever you want, I'm not going to judge it.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
I'm not going to judge you. And do you want
to Christmas music in your headphone? I'm fine with that.
Speaker 4 (43:00):
Cheetphones, yes, please, just don't haunt my dreams with that yet. Okay,
she give me to live.
Speaker 3 (43:04):
I started watching Christmas movie.
Speaker 2 (43:06):

Speaker 2 (43:42):
All right, guys, we are officially halfway through the NFL
regular season, so it is time for our mid season awards.
Carmee and I are going to go through give our
MVP so far, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year,
Offensive Player of the Year, and then our biggest surprises,
both good and bad. So let's start with the MVPs.
(44:03):
I'm just gonna give the odds. As of now via FanDuel,
you have Lamar Jackson at plus one seventy, Josh Allen
at plus three forty, Mahomes plus five hundred, Jared Goff
plus eight hundred, and Jane Daniels tied with GoF.
Speaker 4 (44:16):
At plus eight hundred.
Speaker 2 (44:18):
So I'm kind of torn between this MVP, who I
think kind of deserves this first half of the season,
because Lamar Jackson absolutely went off right Thursday Night Football
made a very good case for his third MVP and
he's yeah, he's pretty darn close to his twenty nineteen
(44:40):
where he was unanimous MVP numbers, but he's actually better
this season with completion percentage, passing yards, blow touched down.
Speaker 5 (44:51):
I was going to say his numbers ratings to anything
he's ever gone.
Speaker 2 (44:56):
So that alone is an argument in itself for lam
Jackson again to get his third MVP. But this is
where I struggle. The Chiefs are undefeated, and they are
undefeated because of Patrick Mahomes, and I don't know how
you cannot say he is the not necessarily like number
(45:18):
rankings wise.
Speaker 4 (45:19):
But like.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
He feels like an MVP halfway through the season because
of what he's been able to do with what he
has and his team, and they are undefeated. So between
the two right now, I'm leaning towards Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (45:34):
As my envy.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
Oh, I'm going with Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 5 (45:36):
Wins aren't a quarterback stat and it's not just Patrick Mahomes,
it's that defense too. I mean, like Steves Bagnolo and
that Chiefs defense is has been ascending every single year
and this year has been no different. They haven't allowed
more than twenty five points in the game and that
was back Week two with the Cincinnati Bengals. I mean
(45:58):
they are stifled playing opponents and it has resulted in
the fact that yet it's not looking like we're used
to with the Chiefs offense, but they're still extraordinarily efficient.
Patrick Mahomes is extraordinarily efficient. I'm not trying to take
anything away from Patrick Mahomes because he hasn't had the
talent around him, especially with losing Rashi Rice and not
being able to lean as much on the run game
without is Isaiah Pacheco. But he has a defense that
(46:21):
he can fall back on.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
And I'm not.
Speaker 5 (46:24):
Gonna say that the Ravens defense isn't awesome too, because
it is. But Lamar Jackson is on pace to shatter
shatter any of his previous stats. We could see him
be the first four thousand yard passer and thousand yard
rusher right now.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
He is on pace.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
Let me see, I have these numbers right here.
Speaker 5 (46:48):
Oh, he leads the league in passerrating, leads the league
in passing yards per attempt, fourth most scrambles, second lowest
turnover worthy throw a percentage at one point three percent.
Speaker 3 (46:56):
I don't have the what.
Speaker 5 (46:57):
He's on pace for, but it is well over yea
four thousand yards and he's averaging six yards to carry
himself and then.
Speaker 4 (47:08):
Yes, I realized he has he's like the dual.
Speaker 5 (47:11):
Threat he has Dereck Henry. But again, this is an
extraordinarily productive offense. At times they look completely unbeatable. There's
a couple of really head scratching losses in there, but
I can't conceivably say that there is somebody that is
being more productive at the quarterback position than Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 3 (47:31):
And when you consider too that the O line is
really good in.
Speaker 5 (47:37):
Baltimore, but it really comes down to the interior of
that O line being pretty solid. Whereas you see on
the tackles themselves, they're like they're more middle ground, and
that's kind of what the big thing is keeping you
from pressure, and especially with the way Lamar scrambles, he's
doing it without all world tackles on either side of
this offensive line. I just I cannot say enough about
(48:00):
what Lamar Jackson is doing currently and the fact that
he is pushing the ball down the field. He is
so incredibly productive. But he's not throwing interceptions. He's taking
care of the football, he's being responsible with his decision making.
He's getting through progressions. They're longer, they're more complex. I can't,
I cannot say enough about it, and I just think
(48:21):
he is the front runner for the MVP. I think
that conversation is Lamar. I think it's I think Patrick
Mahomes does go into it. But I also think that
we need to talk about Jared Goff and Josh Allen
because I think Josh Allen.
Speaker 4 (48:32):
Josh Allen's number two, He's the second favorite.
Speaker 5 (48:35):
I think he's doing the most with the least. It
is if you could argue team's success is based on
one person for any team, it is the Buffalo Bills
and it is Josh Allen.
Speaker 2 (48:46):
Again, you could literally make a case for any of
these guys. Halfway through the season. Lamar Jackson has the numbers.
Mahomes and the Chief I had those numbers somewhere defeated.
Speaker 1 (48:57):
Look up.
Speaker 4 (48:57):
I'm going with.
Speaker 5 (48:58):
What Lamar Jackson's on pace for right now because it's
absolutely stupid.
Speaker 4 (49:03):
It's insane. Okay, let's move to Rookie of the Year.
Odds were obviously doing Offensive Rookie of the Year right now.
I have both, you have both.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
I have both.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
Okay, I did Offensive Rookie of the Year and Jaden
Daniels is favored by eight lands minus thirteen fifty and
then you have Bonux and Caleb Williams tied at plus
three thousand below him.
Speaker 4 (49:25):
But hands down, it has to be Jadeen Daniels.
Speaker 2 (49:27):
This is a kid who has had a seamless transition
into the NFL and you have to give so much
credit to Cliff Kingsbury who has helped ease him. And
we've talked about that over and over again on this show.
But Jaden has been named Rookie of the Week seven
times this season out of nine weeks. Seven out of
the nine weeks. That is right now, that is a
(49:48):
unanimous decision in my mind, if if the award was
given out right now, I mean he's won away from
the record which Justin Herbert got with eight Rookie of
the weeks, it's just yeah.
Speaker 4 (50:03):
He's yeah, he's he is the offensive RIGI of the year.
Speaker 5 (50:06):
In my mind, I really appreciate what Jane Daniels has
been able to do, because, yes, Cliff Kingsbury was able
to ease him. And if you watch Jayde and Daniels
in the first four weeks this season, it looks drastically different.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
Than the Jane Daniels. You'll see now.
Speaker 5 (50:18):
And initially Cliff Kingsbury allowed him to ease in very
easily by not giving him overloading him with longer progressions
or like trying to get him to do multiple reads
before he throws the ball. It was quick decisions, it
was short passes. It was just let's stink and dunk
our way down the field as much as possible. Now
(50:39):
you see that Jane Daniels has started to open up
this offense more, or Cliff Kingsbury has opened up this
offense more with Jane Danis because he trusts him. And
now Jane Danis is throwing the ball down the field
and yet again still taking care of the ball. He
has just five turnover worthy plays this season, that's one
point six percent, And he now has the what fifth
longest averaged up of target in the league, which to
(51:02):
start the season he had the fourth shortest ye. So
he's still pushing the ball down the field. He's now
being extraordinarily productive. He's very decisive, he's very confident. This
is absolutely a unanimous thing where you're talking about all right,
Jon Daniels has Offensive Player of the Year all but
locked up, barring any sort of crazy either meltdown by
him or Resurgence by Kayleb Williams. I think this goes
to Jay and Daniels, but then I also wanted to
(51:23):
just give some love defensive Rookie of the Year because
there were so few defensive players taken in the first round.
I think that this is a little bit more wide open,
but I do think that Jared Verse of the Los
Angeles Rams has to be the front runner here. He
just turned twenty four, but he leads the league in
pressure percentage, not just rookies, everybody.
Speaker 4 (51:45):
That's impressive, and he's honestly.
Speaker 5 (51:49):
The Rams defense has generated season highs in pressure rate
this last week fifty nine point one percent, sack rate
fifteen two point nine, and they have made up for
the absence now of Aaron Donald so beautifully. Jared Verse
is him, Kobe Turner. Those guys are the reason for it.
Braydon Fisk, even Jared versus teammate in college. It's worked
(52:10):
out so beautifully. But Jared Verse has been so incredibly
productive for how.
Speaker 3 (52:16):
Young he is.
Speaker 5 (52:17):
He's had four games this season with at least five
pressures generated, and.
Speaker 4 (52:21):
It's just that's great.
Speaker 5 (52:22):
He's and then he's starting to kind of turn those
into more sacks. He has three and a half sacks
on the year. But it's you can tell that the
ascension is happening. So Jared Verse, shout out to you
birthday boy this week just turned twenty four.
Speaker 8 (52:35):
Love that.
Speaker 2 (52:36):
All right, Let's move to coach of the Year, and
I think it's Dan Quinn. There was so much uncertainty
and transition with this commander's team and he came in
and has handled it perfectly. Dan is a defensive guy,
and he went out and got the perfect offensive coordinator,
as we just talked with Jane Daniels being the offensive
(52:58):
Rookie of the Year is offensive coordinator Cliff Kingsbury. So
a great leader knows how to delegate. You know, your
strength is strength is defense. You go out and you
find someone to help on the other side. And he
did that. And we saw with Dan Quinn as a
defensive coordinator in Dallas, players loved him. People thought he
was going to be next in line as a Dallas
(53:20):
head coach. But now I think he's in a much
better and functional situation.
Speaker 4 (53:24):
And this is just this is.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
Just the beginning, and they are already so ahead of
schedule and it's so fun.
Speaker 4 (53:30):
To watch.
Speaker 5 (53:30):
His defense is out performing their talent level too. I
think nobody was really sold on that defense, and now
you're starting to kind of reckon with the fact that
it is. And I agree that dan Quinn has done
a beautiful job, but don't forget he's been a head
coach before. He knows how to do this. I got
to give it to Kevin O'Connell. This is his first
head coaching job. He's now been with the Minnesota Vikings, right,
I believe this is third fourth year, and he has
re like Sam Darnold has gone through a complete resurgence
(53:55):
in his career. He was given up on by multiple
teams and he gets to Minnesota and he is now thriving.
He's on pace for his first four thousand yard season.
He's already matched his touchdown total from his rookie year
at seventeen. He's on pace for thirty six touchdowns this year.
And when you consider that they have a new running
back in Aaron Jones in the backfield.
Speaker 3 (54:15):
TJ.
Speaker 5 (54:15):
Hodginson just rejoined the lineup this last week. Of course,
you have Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, and you have
a ton of talent on that offensive side of the ball.
But you needed in order for this to work, Sam
Darnald had to be good, and he has been. He
has done He's outperformed all expectations. He has potentially researched,
like revived his entire career so that even if he
(54:36):
doesn't stay in Minnesota because they do end up making
the switch to JJ McCarthy, he's.
Speaker 3 (54:41):
Going to be able to go somewhere and do well.
Speaker 5 (54:43):
I think that the things that Kevin O'Connell has taught
him and how they have he has developed under Kevin
O'Connell is stuff that Sam Donald can take with him.
Speaker 3 (54:50):
And then on top of that, two years ago, Kevin.
Speaker 5 (54:54):
O'Connell was the driving force behind getting Brian Flores to
Minnesota and do and to head up the defensive side
of the ball, and Brian Flores is defense. Save for
Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff, no other quarterback has been
able to figure them out. And they are getting so
much better every single year that now Brian Floyes has
been there, he is asking guys to do just the
craziest stuff and it's working. It's so creative, it has
(55:18):
very little tendencies and there are not a lot of
quarterbacks that can beat it because it essentially just requires
a very high IQ. So putting those two together and
then having Kevin O'Connell, I honestly think that three of
the four coaches in the NFC North have a case
to be coach of the year. Between Dan Campbell, what
Mattlafloor was able to do when Jordan Love hasn't been
in the lineup, able to win those games with Malik
(55:39):
Willis under center and switch up the scheme so drastically
sometimes in the middle of a game, I think all
three of those coaches really have a case to be
Coach of the Year. But I'm going to give the
edge Kevin O'Connell.
Speaker 2 (55:51):
All Right, I went Dan Quinn, Kevin O'Connell, both honestly
great choices. Okay, I think we can get one more
in here. Let's go to do you want to do
Offensive Player of the Year or do you want to
do biggest.
Speaker 4 (56:03):
Surprises Offensive player of the year? Ossive Player of the Year? Okay,
so offensive player of the Year.
Speaker 2 (56:08):
There are two names that are taking over right now,
and like these are Week nine numbers since Derrick Henry
played on Thursday. But as of that, it's Derrick Henry
and Saquon Barkley that are the two I think front
runners right now for Offensive Player of the Year. I'm
going to go with Saquon Barkley because he has just
been he Henry has the better numbers, but Barkley has
(56:29):
just been electric with this new team. He has a
new energy. He's creating new moves at Barkley hurdle that
we saw last weekend, the spin move backwards hurdle.
Speaker 3 (56:39):
Oh, you just want to do that again?
Speaker 4 (56:40):
No, no, but it was like the freshest move I
have ever seen it.
Speaker 2 (56:46):
Just seen the reaction of all of his teammates, these
grown men on the sidelines who have watched football their
entire lives, just like full shock mouth, open hands on face,
like absolutely insane.
Speaker 4 (56:58):
I just he's halfway through.
Speaker 2 (56:59):
The season and he is on track to blow his
career highs in rushing yards out of the water. He's
already at nine hundred and twenty five rushing yards right now.
His career highs two thousand and twenty two in twenty
twenty two is one thousand, three hundred and twelve. I yeah,
I'm I'm high and so happy for Saquon Barkley.
Speaker 3 (57:18):
I don't know how you go with anybody other than
Derrick Henry, though.
Speaker 5 (57:20):
I mean, he is on pace for nineteen hundred over
nineteen hundred rushing yards very easily could eclipse two thousand,
has twelve touchdowns already this season on the ground, could
end up well. He's on pace for twenty touchdowns by
the end of the year. He's tied for the second
most explosive runs, fifth most mistackle is forced with thirty three.
He's rushed for a league leading forty five first downs.
(57:43):
He is moving the chains almost single handedly for the
Baltimore Ravens offense, which is coupled now not single handedly,
but he is now coupled with how well Lamar Jackson
is passing the ball. I cannot like Derrick Henry is
just it's so funny because he's like the first to
do this since and then you think back on like
the performances we've seen from like Ladanian, Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson,
(58:05):
and you realize really how ridiculous those guys were, because
what Derek Henry is doing is absolutely insane, and he's
doing it for one of the most productive offenses. But
it's still a run first offense, which is just wild
to me that they are this productive, but that's what
happens when you're running back already has twelve touchdowns on
the season.
Speaker 4 (58:25):
Wild, So the best one to best one two punch
over there.
Speaker 5 (58:28):
So all right, Defensive Player of the Year shout out
Dexter Lawrence Sexy DEXI. I need to get my lineman
in there. I need the trenches. Got I need the
trenches in there. He's got a good case and I
want it for him.
Speaker 4 (58:36):
All right, guys, we're gonna.
Speaker 2 (58:37):
Take a quick break here, but can Christian McCaffrey saved
the forty nine Ers season. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (59:20):
So one of the things we didn't get to in
the last segment where the kind of the biggest surprises
this year, and this one was definitely a surprise because
the forty nine Ers were favored in every game this season.
Speaker 4 (59:30):
They were a super Bowl favorite.
Speaker 2 (59:31):
They're currently four and four, fourth in the NFC West,
but they've been plagued with a lot of injuries this year, right,
so that is their excuse. However, they're getting a big
name back this week, CMC. You are their only hope.
Christan McCaffrey is back at practice. Can he save the
forty nine ers season? And when you look at the numbers,
(59:53):
the numbers speak for themselves, right with Christian McCaffrey. Without
Christian McCaffrey, their record obviously sleeve. He's played a lot
more than he's missed twenty six and seven without seven
and eight. He is a game changing player. But my
question is we all know he was getting treatment over
in Germany for his achilles tendonitis.
Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
Is he going to be the same player?
Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
Are you like, are there going to be any sort
of restrictions on the explosiveness, on the agility, things like that.
I hope so, because it is so much better for
the league when the best players are at their peak
and able to play and the division is still up
for grabs the NFC West.
Speaker 5 (01:00:41):
The real question isn't if he can save the forty
nine Ers, because the forty nine Ers have the seventh
most points per game. They have the second ranked offense
in the league. Jordan Mason has the second most rushing yards,
behind only Derrick Henry, So he not that there is
a comp for Christian McAfrey, because Christian McCaffrey is one
of the best dual threatbacks we've ever seen.
Speaker 3 (01:01:01):
But they've also.
Speaker 5 (01:01:02):
Had the unfortunate aspect of having to play a first
place schedule in the NFC West, and the defense has
faltered a little bit more than we're used to seeing.
Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
Now.
Speaker 5 (01:01:16):
They have their twenty eighth in total EPA per play
allowed defensively, which means forty four percent of the plays
against them have generated a positive EPA for the other team.
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
That's not good.
Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
You need all of this to happen.
Speaker 5 (01:01:27):
So what you need to see is a little bit more,
like you need to see the defense kick into gear
a little bit more. What you need to see from
Christian McCaffrey is can you take this team from scoring
twenty six point three points per game to maybe more
like thirty points game? Because this is who they have
coming up, The Buccaneers, the Seahawks, the Packers, the Packers, wow,
(01:01:48):
my Midwest just came out, and the Bills. Yeah, this
is a tough schedule coming up. They are going to
need every bit of offensive firepower that they can muster.
But there is precedent for this too. Two years ago,
the forty nine ers were sitting at four and four
on their bye week like they did this year, and
then they ran the table, won every single game except
(01:02:11):
for their last one against the Philadelphia Eagles when it
does matter.
Speaker 4 (01:02:14):
But that's so they went down, right, Is that what
you're talking about now?
Speaker 3 (01:02:17):
No, this is they won, they won out and then.
Speaker 5 (01:02:21):
They lost that last game to the Eagles, which it
didn't matter because they were already in the playoffs. So like,
there is precedent for the forty nine ers to be
able to do this, and that they just kind of
reset after their bye week and that makes the difference
going there forward.
Speaker 3 (01:02:33):
So they were on there by this last week. We're
going to see them come out of it.
Speaker 5 (01:02:36):
And I really think that they in general, I don't
think it's up to Christian McCaffrey to save their season.
Speaker 3 (01:02:43):
I don't think their season needs to be saved. We've
seen them do this before.
Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
Yeah, but it hasn't like for someone that like for
a team that was favored in every single game.
Speaker 4 (01:02:51):
It happen an office they four and four.
Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
They are lucky though that like the NFC West is
like a game or two away from like if they
go on a good little street because we get the
Cards in first at five and four Rams and forty
nine Ers or four and four and the Seahawks at
four and five, it's very doable within the division. But
I do think they need to start if they want
(01:03:15):
to get to the expectations of what everyone had them
for this season, it needs to happen like now.
Speaker 5 (01:03:21):
Like I'm saying that's happened before. It happened in twenty
twenty two. It happened in twenty twenty one. After their
bye week. They have done like they have done tremendously
better and getting a guy like Christian McCaffrey back, even
if he's not the same exact player as he was,
or he has a little bit of rust that he
needs to shake off, that is still another component to
that offense that you need to respect as a defense.
(01:03:42):
And that is where you're going to see Kyle Shanahan's
play calling ability really come into play, because we know
that he's a really good offensive play caller. Half the
teams in the league play a system now based on
the Shanahan McVeigh three essentially, So I have faith in
in Kyle Shanahan being able to tweak what he needs
into tweak in the bye week for the forty nine
ers to come out swinging. And it's not going to
(01:04:04):
be easy. Like I said, their next four games are
against very quality opponents.
Speaker 4 (01:04:08):
Yep, but yeah, bucks of them putting up a fight.
Speaker 5 (01:04:10):
With Yeah, their defense is still incredible and they've done
well against the forty nine ers historically under Todd Bowles
or with Todd Bowles as the defensive coordinator.
Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
I really do think.
Speaker 5 (01:04:19):
That you just need a little bit of a spark.
But like Christian McCaffery is going to be able to
give that for give that to you, and he doesn't
even need to be an all world beater to do it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
It's going to be interesting, all right. Let's check in
with Martin Wise now and see what's trending.
Speaker 1 (01:04:38):
College football all over the place.
Speaker 11 (01:04:40):
Right now at the half, Georgia Bulldogs trailing the Old
Miss Rebels sixteen to seven. Georgia the third ranked team
of the nation. Old Miss sixteenth right now. Jackson darr
did leave this game early, but he came back and
he's got one hundred and thirty one yards passing on
the ground. One of Old Missus touchdown drives was by
the backup quarterback. At the half between the Indiana Hoosiers
(01:05:02):
and the Michigan Wolverines, Indiana has a seventeen to three lead.
Indiana undefeated right now, the eighth RAN team in the nation.
Rourke the quarterback one hundred and ninety yards passing two touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
Through the air.
Speaker 11 (01:05:13):
Iowall State trailing big early in the third quarter at
Kansas Kansas with a thirty one to thirteen lead over
the seventeenth Thran Sideclones.
Speaker 1 (01:05:20):
Daniels, the quarterback got.
Speaker 11 (01:05:22):
Two thirty four through the air, two touchdowns, adding fifty
one on the ground and another touchdown Army in North Texas,
the Cadets with a seven to three lead over le
Mean Green ten thirty left in the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:05:33):
There, Clemson finally gets on the board.
Speaker 11 (01:05:35):
They were trailing this game against Virginia Tech almost the
entire tea of it seven to seven right now, eleven
thirty left in the third quarter. At the half, Texas
Tech had a thirteen point lead over Colorado. Colorado scored
ten points in the second quarter to cut that margin
to three. Earlier today in college football, Ohio State pounded
(01:05:56):
Purdue forty five to nothing, Jeremiah Smith breaking the school
record for his ninth touchdown catch for Ohio State. Will
Howard had three touchdowns altogether. Terry von Henderson won on
the ground as well. Georgia Tech upset number four Miami
twenty eight to twenty three. Cam Ward had three touchdown
passes in the loss. Haines King, the leading rusher for
(01:06:16):
Georgia Tech, the quarterback with twenty carries, ninety three yards
and one touchdown. Florida got pounded by Texas the fifth
ranked team Longhorns there forty nine to seventeen. Quinn Ewers
had five touchdown passes. Arts Manning also saw action in
this game. In the NFL, the Saints have put wide
receiver Chris Olave on injury reserve after he suffered his
(01:06:36):
second concussion of.
Speaker 1 (01:06:38):
The season last week.
Speaker 11 (01:06:39):
Tyreek Hill has a wrist injury. He's questionable right now,
Head coach Mike McDaniel saying he's neither optimistic nor pessimistic
that Tyreek will play. Quarterback Dak Prescott will likely go
season andy hamstring surgery per Adam Schefter, and the Commanders
have ruled out at Austin Cybert to kick her for
Sunday's game against the Steelers. The Rams are going to
(01:07:00):
get some help this week as Steve Avila and Jonah
Jackson are going to be off injured reserve. I had
a Monday Nights matchup with ma'am. Yes, this is just
breaking about five minutes ago, per Adam Schefter. And in
the NBA, Pelicans forwards Ion Williamson out indefinitely with a
left hamstring injury.
Speaker 1 (01:07:16):
Carmen and Alex back to you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
Thanks Martin, Thank you Martin. You're listening to Fox Football Saturday.
I'm Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitally and we are
broadcasting live from the tyrot dot Com studios in Los Angeles.
It is time for our next guest. He covers the
Titans for eight is E Sports. He's the host of
the Buck Rising Show on one of four to five
The Zone in Nashville.
Speaker 4 (01:07:34):
Please welcome Buck Rising.
Speaker 6 (01:07:36):
Well how about that?
Speaker 3 (01:07:40):
Thanks for coming on back.
Speaker 5 (01:07:41):
I know that you're at you're at brunch, you're here
in LA to cover the game, but you're Hoosiers, man,
I had to bring you on.
Speaker 6 (01:07:50):
How about them Hoosiers? I have a bet with Taylor L.
Speaker 1 (01:07:54):
Lawn.
Speaker 6 (01:07:54):
He thought that Michigan was going to be able to
handle business the way that they have basically our entire
life time and yet down seventeen to three, looking like
a bunch of sad boys in Bloomington, Indiana.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
Okay, well, then let's start. Let's start with your Hoosiers.
Because Carmie was talking about, you know, you got a
lot of love for this team. How surprising has it
been to see this start for Indiana.
Speaker 6 (01:08:21):
Well, let's start there first and foremost, because none of
no Indiana alum know that Indiana football existence until this year.
I'll tell you that love that right now, we tailgate,
we go home, we watch Notre Dame.
Speaker 1 (01:08:35):
So the idea that is brutal.
Speaker 6 (01:08:38):
Indiana in the middle of November. I'm doing you know,
Fox Sports Radio national hits talking about Indiana, but it's
not The basketball team is a completely foreign concept. So
it's awesome to see. I mean, it's the coolest story
in college football this year. I don't know how much
you guys know about Kurt Signetti. The coaches gone gone
a very interesting route to take and on a program
(01:09:00):
that nobody believed in rightfully, so they have more losses
in college football than any program in the history of
the sport. It's a pretty nice dragging point. Radiana football
have been playing football a long long time and they've
been losing a long, long long time. So it is
it's really really cool to see. And you know, even
the text former players like the guys on the Titans
(01:09:21):
roster Nick westber Kakia, guys who have played for the
Titans that it's the team that I cover. Roger Sapples,
who's in Bloomington today, taken in the game. They're shocked
that people are paying attention that Indiana has a sellout
crowd their fourth sellout out of the year. It's unthinkable.
Speaker 5 (01:09:35):
It's so funny because it took me a while to
trust this team, as I think I'm justified in doing so.
But now you see the college football rankings come out
and playoff rankings rather come out this week and Indiana
at nine and zero with the seventh hardest strength of
record score according to ESPN, is sitting at eight even
though they're nine to zero. I mean, there's now I
(01:09:58):
think we need to catch up. There's little little bit
of disrespect for Indiana. I was I was putting on
for them, thinking that they should have been higher.
Speaker 6 (01:10:05):
No, it's it's a crime. And I love that given
this work and live in the state of Tennessee, where
they have been desperately climb climbing back to football relevancy
for basically the better part of twenty years since Lane
Kiffin kind of hit it and quit it and got
on his way onto his next job. I mean, it
is unbelievable to see how big a turnaround that is.
(01:10:27):
And right now you know the first college football playoff
rankings has come out, Indiana is in the top twelve.
Obviously that's a big play. A game at Kneeland stadium
if things held correctly right now in the first round
of the College football dying to hold that over the
entire state of Tennessee to my own detriment, my own that's.
Speaker 4 (01:10:47):
Going to make your friends, all right, buck Well, you're
in LA.
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
You're in town covering Titans Chargers game tomorrow, and the
Titans are switching back to all of us at quarterback
now that he's recovered from the shoulder injury.
Speaker 4 (01:11:00):
Okay, that that was everything right there? Just go go off,
go off.
Speaker 9 (01:11:05):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:11:06):
He's very stressful, and you know he's he's very well meaning,
but he's very stressful in the way that he plays quarterback.
And it's not been terribly seamless this year. And you know,
I'm honest to God, I would not wish this situation
on anybody. He's in. He is very tightly round and
he's got a lot of pressure on him. And they
spent a ton of money to invest around him. They
(01:11:26):
hired a coaching staff that's there to maximize him, and
it's fallen flat on its face. I mean, people in Nashville,
for the amount of money they spent, they expected to
be meaningfully competitive this year, and instead, the team identity
is that of Will Levis and his means like it's yeah,
and the man that's the other thing. Like, you know,
there were a couple of smart people like Peyton Manning
(01:11:46):
and Mike Rabel who told him, hey, you know, he's
easy on the marketing stuff until make the football part first.
And there's even equips of him and the Manning passing
academy asking Peyton about the marketing side of things. So
it just makes the mayonnaise campaign that's a national campaig
still running even though the guy hasn't played it. I
just saw it pop up on the spend today for
Hellman's No Free ads. And you know how much less the
(01:12:07):
offense of doing Hellman's over dukes in the South. I mean,
it's it's criminal what he's done here.
Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
It's hilarious.
Speaker 5 (01:12:13):
There's so much, so much there. But all right, so
then what do we expect out of Will Levison coming
into this game? Are we expecting to see anything drastically different?
Do we think that he's you know, sitting down has
been beneficial for him?
Speaker 3 (01:12:27):
What?
Speaker 1 (01:12:27):
What?
Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
What do we expect tomorrow?
Speaker 6 (01:12:29):
I mean, it can't get worse. Carmen, I saw you
week one in Chicago when he literally gave the game
away on that on that one of the weirdest looking
sis I've ever seen.
Speaker 3 (01:12:39):
Yes, we did in my life.
Speaker 6 (01:12:41):
It was. It's been it's been pretty pretty ghastly for
will Levis. So you know, I really don't know what
to expect. Their offensive line was honestly just starting to
improve with Mason Rudolfi quarterback. They've been giving up a
lot less sex, but that's because Mason's decisive, he gets
the ball out. I want to know if that's going
to have an impact a negative impact on the offensive line,
because that was kind of the book on Levis. He
doesn't feel pressure terribly well. He takes a lot of sacks,
(01:13:03):
he holds onto the ball, he's trying to make the
home run play down the field, and then all of
a sudden he's got Quinn Williams in his face mask.
He's a meme yet again. Are separating his shoulder in
Miami or a spraining an ac joint, not separating a shoulder,
But it's the expectation is I have no expectations. They
just started to figure things out, and now he's dropping
back in here as an agent of chaos, and it
(01:13:24):
may nuke the entire play.
Speaker 3 (01:13:26):
I ran for chaos that all the time. So as
you know by us.
Speaker 2 (01:13:30):
Okay, so how do the Titans stop Justin Herbert and
the Chargers?
Speaker 4 (01:13:35):
Like, is it possible? Is there any hope in your soul?
Speaker 9 (01:13:39):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (01:13:39):
Yeah, because the defense is good. I mean, the defense
is not the issue here. It's a it's a defense
of a playoff caliber team, and that's really without getting
that much pressure, which has made the thing astonishing this
year because they don't have any top tier pass pressures.
Jeff Simons is that a busted UCL all year, which
is difficult for an interior defensive lineman to deal with.
And he's still playing pretty high level ball right now.
(01:13:59):
So I mean, the only the key to beating the
Chargers is for will e Us to not turn it over,
because he had. At the time that he exited the
lineup with this injury, he was leading the NFL for
the most individual turnovers. He's got five cutsdowns to seven interceptions.
He's got three loss fumbles and some of the ugliest
turnover situations that you will see. Given that the maniac
(01:14:20):
moments as we've done them at home are are the
primary source or the primary instance where these turnovers are happening.
But if they can like clean it up football, they
can hang with these teams. They've got the defense in
the running game to do it. Tony Pollard's for.
Speaker 4 (01:14:33):
The stud Yeah, Buck, you were great. Thank you so
much for joining us. We needed that last.
Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
We needed that last.
Speaker 6 (01:14:40):
I know, I know these things, but it's nice to
hear it every once in a while, so I really
appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (01:14:45):
I certainly don't tell him, Alex, so I do.
Speaker 4 (01:14:49):
People that are great when they are You made me laugh.
That was awesome. Have a great time out here in
LA and thank you so much for joining us.
Speaker 6 (01:14:56):
Absolutely gonna enjoy it. Thanks for having me, Ladies.
Speaker 2 (01:14:59):
B A right, We're gonna take one more break here,
but when we come back, we're making our week ten
NFL picks.
Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:15:05):
Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from Attar dot
Com Studios in Los Angeles, and it is time for
our week ten NFL picks. But producer Patrick, we didn't
have you last week, so we need an update.
Speaker 4 (01:15:22):
How are we doing well? Lead us through this week.
Speaker 10 (01:15:25):
Well, with that, I do have the updated stuff of
what BO has left me. I thank you, by the way, Bo.
And with that, I have both your records with the
five games. One of you is five and oh the
other one is also pretty commendably four and one's Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
It was it was It was close.
Speaker 1 (01:15:47):
It was close.
Speaker 3 (01:15:48):
It was because I was almost so right.
Speaker 10 (01:15:51):
You are, Carmen the Buccaneers yet again, Just do I
get it?
Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
I get close.
Speaker 4 (01:15:57):
Not even that.
Speaker 5 (01:15:58):
I really don't think that they matched up really well
had they gone. I don't know, like which over side
you land on that two point version.
Speaker 3 (01:16:04):
I get why you didn't.
Speaker 5 (01:16:05):
I get why you try it, like, but trying to
win an overtime against that team is a tough bill.
Speaker 3 (01:16:10):
But they forced them into overtime. It was so close.
Speaker 1 (01:16:13):
I like the moxie. I will continue.
Speaker 10 (01:16:15):
I will give you that one on that one the
record right now, Alex, you are thirty and nineteen. Carmen,
you are twenty five and twenty four, five games below.
But fear not, we're still a lot more to go.
We're a mid season here, but Alex, you are a
fearless leader. Okay, and we are starting off with number
one here the forty nine ers are taking on Carmen
(01:16:37):
the Bucks here. Bucks are actually six and a half
point favorites at home. Oddly enough, with that said, Alex,
take it, take.
Speaker 4 (01:16:48):
It away, I'm taking the forty nine ers.
Speaker 9 (01:16:51):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
The Bucks have been hanging in there, even without their
top wide receivers.
Speaker 4 (01:16:55):
They've put up a fight the last few weeks, but.
Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
They get a little boost of energy with Christian McCaffrey
coming back. And as we were talking about earlier, Carmen
brought up they've been in this position before where they've
had this record and come out of the by and
just went absolutely insane. So I'll bank on that and
I just the fort nine is going to turn it
around if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive,
and I do think they're going to.
Speaker 5 (01:17:21):
But just just to be you know, I'm picking with
my heart. You're right, and I'm picking with my heart,
and I'm gonna go to the Bucks day. They've done
well against the forty nine ers. Todbles knows what to
do against Kyle Shanahan. I do think that they've got
a shot here defensively, and I do think a lot
of this game that was going to come down to
who runs the ball better, because you're going to have
the three headed monster in the backfield of the Buccaneers,
(01:17:41):
which needs to get going and wasn't going against the
Chiefs last week. But I think they can do that now.
And then it's going to be like, what do you
do with Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason.
Speaker 3 (01:17:50):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (01:17:50):
We'll say, well, speaking of picking with your heart and
probably picking with or your heart and your.
Speaker 1 (01:17:56):
Head will align on this.
Speaker 10 (01:17:57):
We have the Broncos taking on the chief Kansas City
is home and a seven and a half point favorite.
Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
By the way Carmen take it away, I.
Speaker 5 (01:18:06):
Wish we were picking against the spread, and honestly, I
think we should pick against the fur like every week
because I feel like I would be doing so much better.
Because I do I would pick the Broncos to cover
this game because they've also I just think it would
be very quintessential of the AFC West, especially given what
happened last year, that the Broncos win this game. Even
though it's an arrowhead, I do think they match up
(01:18:27):
really well. But I'm still gonna go with the Chiefs. Yeah,
We're going and we're playing straight up but I would.
Speaker 3 (01:18:31):
I would. I'm picking the Broncos to cover. Let that
be known.
Speaker 4 (01:18:34):
No brainer. Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
I mean also with Andy Reeve going up against a
rookie quarterback, Chiefs are undefeated. Mahomes and DeAndre Hopkins are rolling.
It is a great match for him. So I'm picking
the Chiefs, all right.
Speaker 10 (01:18:46):
Well, sticking with Roland here, we got the Steelers taking
on the Commanders, who are two and a half point
favorites at home.
Speaker 1 (01:18:51):
Alex, what are we feeling?
Speaker 2 (01:18:52):
Yeahmandazon defeated at home and we've been raving about their
coaching staff, their quarterback all show. They won all my
mid season awards. I can't turn my back on them now.
I am going with the Commanders.
Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
I'm going with the Steelers.
Speaker 5 (01:19:06):
They now have the I don't know that Michaels is
gonna play a whole lot, but I do think that
this offense is rolling now with Russell Wilson not rolling quite,
but they are a defensive first team. That defense is
really hard to go against. I think they're gonna give
Jane Daniels all he can handle in Washington.
Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
I'm going to Steelers, all right, all right?
Speaker 10 (01:19:22):
Well, next up, we got the Lions three and a
half point favorites on the road taking on the Houston Texans.
Speaker 3 (01:19:27):
Carmenal would Phil. I just think the Lions are gonna
beat up on the Texans.
Speaker 5 (01:19:30):
They're not what we were used to seeing, and I
do think that they're gonna get better as the season
goes on. But what it comes down to is what
Cynthia said. The interior of that Texans offensive line worries
the hell out of me when they're going against Alee
McNeil and DJ Reader in Detroit.
Speaker 2 (01:19:44):
Yeah, I'm also taking the Lions. They are too hot
right now. Yeah, let's let's get to the last one,
our last one.
Speaker 10 (01:19:50):
Dolphins on the road taking on the La Ram to
turn two point favorite Alex take it away.
Speaker 4 (01:19:56):
I'm gonna pick with my heart with this. When I'm
going with the Rams. They have both Cooper Cup and
book and back.
Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
They are coming off a huge ot wind all the
way Rams, baby Dolphins.
Speaker 5 (01:20:04):
Are much more productive. But that Tyree kill injury, I
don't know. I'm going with Rams too.
Speaker 2 (01:20:08):
All right, Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon with us.
We'll see you next week, same time, same place,
