Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Let's go stick a gi Yeah, big boys, let's field
us out.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
And Arnie has already filled out his bracket.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Yes, every year it's done this early. You know that.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Come on, but why why why don't you take some
time to dig into it a little bit? Maybe look
at the matchups, look at a couple of analytics, maybe
some numbers or anything. You just you just go straight gut.
You don't slow down or pause at all, do you?
Speaker 3 (00:27):
This is why I'm usually winning the contest, right because
I just go right at it.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Come on, now, congratulations, how'd you do last year?
Speaker 3 (00:35):
I probably didn't do very well. I don't know, I
didn't it just like the first time in like a decade.
I'm not picking Arizona to win the whole thing. What yeah,
I didn't pick Arizona to win the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I picked him to go all the way. Oh stop,
what's going on here? I have him going to the Nasha.
What's going on here? You should feel pretty good, though,
I mean, that was a heck of a run in
that what do you call the Big twelve as.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
The party conference conference that you're.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
In right now? Pretty good run, right.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
I gotta tell you, I'm I'm just right off the bat.
I'm not feeling the madness. I don't know if you
saw my tweet a little bit earlier, but I'm not feeling.
For the first time in a long time, I'm not
feeling the madness. I I don't feel like there's going
to be a lot of upsets. Oh. Usually I'm you know,
I'm usually all over the sets, and I'm oh, this
one in the fifteen seed's gonna win here, and a
(01:24):
fourteen seeds gonna win there. And as a matter of fact,
I don't know who said it. Somebody said, does anybody
have a thirteen fourteen fifteen seed winning? And everybody said no, no, no, nobody,
nobody had them going. I just I don't see a
lot of upsets. I didn't. I wasn't digging a lot
of the matchups this year. And call me crazy, I'm
not even digging the where the first round sites are?
(01:46):
What see Seattle? My goodness, man? Can we keep it
in the United States? For crying out louder? Why do
we got to take it outside of you worth? You
know how hard it is to get the Seattle my goodness.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
In Vermont did you live in Vermont.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
I'm not asking I'm not asking you to put the
first round here in Vermont. We have one in Providence,
which is only like three four hours from me. They
got Saint John's there, they got Kansas there. People can
drive up from New York, they can come from Boston.
You put it in Seattle. Who's gonna go the people
from Montana? I mean, it's ridiculous. They did a bad
(02:23):
job this year. Just not feeling it, you know.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Okay, Well, I am a Can I try for three
hours to get you intrigued or fired up for this?
Or do you just want to tap out and talk
about the new deals for t Higgins and Jamar Chase.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
No, no, no, we're not gonna tap out. I will
tell you this though. I did dig the Greg Gumbel
tribute and you know, the the rolling stones and the
whole thing.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Now.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
I don't know if you saw that, Chris, but.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yeah, it was right in the open of it.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
It's really cool, man, really really good, very touching, well done.
I thought they did a great job with that, and
uh and you know, moving on. But I thought it
was a great tree of you that put me in
a good mood there that was cool.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
That was cool.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Yeah, so I can't even interest you in like Bill
self versus John Calipari in the first round with Rick
Patino waiting in the second round potentially, Yes.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
I mean thing for you, it does. There's I mean,
there is obviously some matchups, but you know, and and
by the way, I was looking at the Lions, there's
not a lot of First of all, there's a couple
of the big lines, but not a lot of the
fifteen to twenty to twenty five.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
They got lines out already.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Oh yeah, they've had about for a while. Yeah. I
was looking it up, trying to figure out.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
So you did do some prep work for it? Come on, man, you.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Know, come on, by the way, you'd be surprised. And
some of the lines out there very shocking, where you
you think it's going to be a blowout and it's
a very close line or the other way around. Kind
of shocking with some of the lines out there.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Okay, I'm scrolling through them right now. Wow, Arizona's only
and again i'd say only, it's it's one of the
bigger lines.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
But yeah, teen points.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
I was actually shocked. I thought it was only going
to be seven or eight. To be honest, Oh really,
Oh yeah, so I was. I was actually shocked about
that one. There. There was a lot to be shaking
your head about. I'm like, oh my goodness, this one's
a very short line out there. I was. I was
shocked at a couple of them. Iowa State Lipscomb's a
fourteen and a half point one and Oregon Liberty. I
like Liberty, They're a four and a half point dog.
(04:22):
That was a that was a close ligne. Also, I
saw it there.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
But let me let me just try to drill a
little bit deeper. Here is We're coming to you live
tonight from the tire rack dot Com studios. Tire rack
dot com will help you get there an unmatched a selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand
recommended in stallers. Tirack dot com the way tire buying
should be. Is it possible, Arney Spaniard? Yes, that part
of the reason you're not really down with this bracket,
(04:47):
and part of the reason why you're not too excited
is just because outside of your beloved Arizona Wildcats and
maybe a game or two here or there, college basketball
really hasn't like captured our attention, yere?
Speaker 1 (05:00):
Is that part of it? Like when have we during
this show?
Speaker 2 (05:04):
You know, and we've We've lived through the NFL free agency, right,
we went through gosh, the college football playoffs.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Which lasted like a month and a half.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
It seemed like, uh, you know, NFL season in Super Bowl,
Like when was the time? Whenever we came into here,
they were like, holy smokes, did you see x or
y or? Is he from college basketball? Maybe won Cooper
Flagg's debut which came right in the middle of the
NFL season.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Right right?
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Is it just where we're truly lacking that pool like
we used to have outside of March Madness.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
This is I still think the greatest sporting event.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
I think March Madness for what it is and what
it involves, it's still the best. But if we just accepted,
all right, I'll catch up on college basketball when we
get to the field of sixty eight?
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Is that where we are now with this sword?
Speaker 3 (05:51):
But it is like that. But I mean, if you
took me, if I take you back about twenty five
thirty years ago, whatever, I got to take you back,
and if I told you we're all going to talk
about the top four or five teams. It'd be what
un l V it would be, Duke, I mean to
be some big name.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
You really going back now if you think about it, dude,
that's like thirty years now.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
No, But my point is we'd really be pumped up.
We go, oh wow, this is I can't wait to
see what U and LV is gonna do, or Duke
or Arizona. We'd be pumped up because there are one
seeds and excited about it here. I think it's gonna
be a lot of the one and two seeds advancing
all the way. Matter of fact, if they had three
one seeds and a two seeds in Saint John's and
(06:31):
we should be more excited about I think Saint John's
is a great story. It just doesn't seem to be
catching on naturally because I guess it's still just your
dad Saint John's. Nobody really goes back all that way.
Nobody cares about the old Big East and what Saint
John and lou Carnasseeca. If I asked everybody who Luke Carter,
I bet you're ten percent of our audience doesn't know
who Lou Carnaseca is. So it doesn't have that appeal anymore.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Those sweaters were pretty awesome though.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Yeah, the good was all right.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
It's kind of funny you can tell someone that really
truly loves college basketball, arn't he when they say something
along the lines of, man, it's really good to see
Saint John's relevant again.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
You're like, what saying that.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
An eighty year old? I just wanted to who's saying
that somebody who's like eighty years old?
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Right? It really goes back.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
So are you saying you don't want to drill deep
in this tonight? Talk about who got screwed? Did West
Virginia get hosed?
Speaker 3 (07:29):
By the way, Did I miss something that West Virginia
turned down an invitation to the NIT? Did I miss that?
Speaker 1 (07:34):
I do not know. I saw they were mad that
North Carolina got in.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
I saw the pairings for the NIT, and I saw
the number one seeds, which I assumed that West Virginia
would have been a number one seed in the n
and they weren't there. So I'm thinking that maybe they
turned out an invitation.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Wow, you've already looked at the NIT bracket. You who
is the college basketball expertise?
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Tho?
Speaker 3 (07:56):
God, leave it's me.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Come on now, Well, I was I will say, and
Ian Roddy, our producer, can back me up who earlier?
I think it was yesterday as a matter of fact.
And Aaron Torris, if you're listening to this, this is
like the ultimate high praise I think from Arnie Spaniard. Yes,
you sent a text along the lines of, hey, we
should see about getting someone like Aaron Torres to help
(08:18):
us break down the bracket.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Now, I'm not gonna.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Lie I thought you got hacked because I know that
you think you're the college basketball expert. But I think
at least that shows me that there is some kind
or are you trying to draw something out in yourself
for this field of sixty eight?
Speaker 1 (08:35):
What do you mean?
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Are you trying to get excited about like Aaron on?
Speaker 3 (08:39):
No, And I'm sure I will be excited once it
gets started. And you know, first of all, it used
to be that we had the wait till Thursday, then
we got the playing game. Now the whole thing really
starts on a Tuesday. And I was a little riled
up that West Virginia didn't get in and the coach
was all mad. And then you hear the breakdown and
then the head of the committees from North Carolina and
(09:00):
West Virginia had what six was it? Six squad one
wins and North Carolina one in twelve and you're shaking
you like, what the hell? How does this happen? So
you know, you get all fired up about it and
pumped up, but you move on and you get ready
for the turn. I'm sure once that starts on Tuesday,
I'll be all excited about it, Kennedy, North Carolina gonna
(09:20):
win two games, by the way, Oh you do, yeah,
I have winning two games.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Well, so the playing game, obviously, you must have them
beating San.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Diego stink ole miss and then beating all Miss, oh miss.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Pretty good.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
I know they are right, they are a good team.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
But I don't think I would argue with you too
terribly much.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
I want to make a point on that, all right,
And I feel like this is one of those full
disclosure moments. The North Carolina eighty Bubba Cunningham is a
friend of mine, all right, He's one of my guys.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
He was at Tulsa for a long time.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
So I know I'm not defending it, Okay, okay, I'm
saying if they came back and the head of the
committee can't be involved, in these like they they lay
out to parameters and they're not really too terribly involved
in the debate. If they came to where it was
(10:08):
my team and it looked as bad as it looks
for North Carolina, I'm just saying, I don't know if
anyone can do this, but I almost feel like he
should have said, nah, you know, let's let's go ahead
and get someone else. Well, he's in the room, right,
he's I know, But I'm just I get it already.
I get it, But it's just no one knows that
you know it because you cut for sports and you
(10:28):
love sports.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
The people from the Hills, if you will, they don't know.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
It just looks like that North Carolina a D got
him in and you don't want to turn it down
because it's extra money for the school, and you know
everyone needs more money with REVS share. But I guess
for me, I don't know. I just I feel like
whenever it looks this shady, is that a term I
can use here?
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Well, they always got away with it because I think
the other people the other teams were what was Virginia,
Indiana and Boise. Well, nobody's gonna make us think about
it because they were losing their coach and they were
playing through a ripoff tie. They played so well I
was even shocked. I was even shocked they were being considered.
And then Boise. I mean, it's Boise, So you know,
(11:11):
nobody's gonna make us thick about that. They've had tree
falls in the woods. Did it fall down if nobody's
there to hear it, So maybe they thought they could
get away with something like that. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
Let me clean up that analogy for you, just because
it's when I used today. If a tree falls in
the woods doesn't make a noise? Okay, that's hey, what
did you one thing that kind of jumped out to
me that I found interesting. We might have some second
round conference matchups. Yeah, and in the history of the
nca tournament, and that's something they're trying to avoid. Alabama
(11:44):
and Vanderbilt could potentially play in the second round.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Florida too many SEC teams fourteen and they only did
get was it eight in the big twelve? I think
they dropped or was it seven? Maybe I'm not even
I'm not even sure. So that's too many fourteen, But
I guess there's nothing you can really do about it.
They all deserved it.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
I guess here's the thing though, if if you get
fourteen in all right, we just we're some of these
games involving the SEC ole, Miss, I don't know which
which matchup are they playing?
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Are they are they playing the win?
Speaker 2 (12:18):
Well? Are they potentially playing the winner of Texas Xavier?
I mean, could that be an SEC matchup in the
first round?
Speaker 1 (12:23):
No?
Speaker 3 (12:24):
Almost play is playing the winner of North Carolina San
Diego State?
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Oh? Is that who they're playing?
Speaker 5 (12:28):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (12:28):
I thought they're playing the winner of Texas Xavier. Okay, Well,
if you're ol Miss, if North Carolina State and San
Diego State, whomever wins that are North Carolina San Diego State, Yeah,
you gotta beat them.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Texas A and M's gotta beat Yale.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
I mean, Florida's going Oklahoma should beat you, count And
I'm not just saying that because I'm a Sooner homer
coming to you live from Norman.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Uh, Missouri better be Drake.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
I didn't even know he also had a college named
after him. I'm just Kentucky can't get beat if you're
gonna get fourteen teams in the dance, if you're gonna
flex your must and I say this as an unabashed
SEC homer.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Now you got to win those games, Arnie.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
If we're back here next Sunday night and there's like
two or three SEC teams left, or how about this,
if there's only like five left, you gotta look at
it and say, what the hell happened here? Why did
you let this many teams in?
Speaker 1 (13:20):
From this? As you would say Maloney.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
Conference, hey, how about this? If you really want to
make us think, Chris, how about that Louisville gets to
play in Lexington, which means they get to play Auburn
in the second round in Lexington. Lexington, they're the number
what aid seed and they get it right to How
far is it from Louisville to Lexington for the crowd
(13:42):
to get there? I'm sure, let's see here.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
I don't think it's too far at all, but it is.
It is very much. It's a home field advantage. It
is a one hour drive.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
Oh there you go. There you go, one hour drive.
And then if you're Auburn, you're gonna have the whole
stadium against you and they're the number one seeds. How
fair is now?
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Fair?
Speaker 6 (14:03):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (14:03):
That's probably one of the biggest snubs. I think I've
ever heard in my life when you're a number eight
seed and you get it right in your backyard? How
fair is that to Auburn and Arburn's the overall number one.
I just don't know how that's fair. I don't know's
there all right?
Speaker 1 (14:19):
When we come back, I want to hit Roman numeral one.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
Okay, with the hardest bracket, easiest regent upsets gets you
some times, and let's kind of break down the selection show.
But I did want to say one thing before we
grab a break. Number one shouts out to the Boston
man Kiris, who's running the show tonight because Mary Mack
is sick, So Kiris Coburn whom Arnie, I'm sure. I'm
sure you bugged the hell out of him with technical
(14:43):
questions because you have no idea what you're doing. Yes,
Ian Roddy's running the show, and of course our man
Steve de Segar on updates. But I'm glad you brought
up Greg Gumble off the top because the only thing
that comes to mind with me, well everything, A lot
of things come to mind, but one of the main
thing that comes to mind with me with Greg Gumble,
Arnie Spaniard is we didn't have every game on at
(15:03):
the same time. They didn't stagger start or we had
every game on at the same time, they didn't stagger
start times. And whenever a game was kind of getting
a little bit lopsided, all of a sudden, to go
back to the studio, Greg Gumbel, here, we're gonna take
you to the West Regional. I would get goosebumps, I'd
get fired. I'm like, Oh, what's going on? What's going
on in the tech Iona game? Let's go right and
(15:24):
and it's it's great that we have every game and
it's and everyone has the same joke on Wednesday, Oh,
time to find out what channel True TV's on. Right,
Everyone's got the same joke. But it's awesome. It's amazing
that we get all the games. But typically Captain Greg
Gubbele first election show without him, but those moments when
they would go back to the studio to shift to games, Arnie,
that was a pretty big high for a sports fan.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
It was it was and it was a good tribute.
I'm and there he was at the beginning. I guess
they had either it was a tape piece or some
piece they obviously took from earlier, from a couple of
years earlier, and it was just good to see him,
you know, even though he was gone, it was good
to see him and good to hear from him. And
the guys went on and they played the stones and
(16:08):
it was it was just a good tribute every which way.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Solid tribute all the way around. All right, Well, let's
go through the brackets. We'll talk about the regions, we'll
talk about what we like. We do have more than
just college basketball tonight, tons of NFL news to get
to the latest draft coverage, and Arnie and I will
submit our brackets for the Fox Sports Radio contest brought
to you by Tractor Supply Company tonight. So hang with
us a busy Sunday night with Arnie and Plank on
(16:33):
Fox Sports Radio. All right, it's Arnie and Plank. Now
we're going to talk a lot about the brackets tonight.
So you need to listen up and get ready because
the bracket challenges on aren't.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Have you already submitted yours? No, how do you do that?
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Waiting for the boss to send an email?
Speaker 1 (16:49):
It's it's in your inbox.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
No, no, let me go look at it, right, And
so go look right now, we'll did you get yours?
Speaker 1 (16:56):
I like five minutes ago, so it's it's there you go.
You're not missed out.
Speaker 2 (17:00):

Speaker 3 (17:41):
I got mad at you. I got mad at you
remember last year? Why because you took my picks? Because
I put mine out right away and you just copied them.
What place did you finish last year?
Speaker 1 (17:53):
I won it up, Bingo, Bingo? So do you think
I won it? Why didn't you tie with me?
Speaker 3 (18:02):
You probably changed a few of mine, so it looks
like you weren't cheating. Last year was cheat, you know,
like you cheat off somebody else's paper, but you change
a few of the answers so you don't look like
it's really word for word. That's what you probably did.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Cannot confirm her deny, Arnie. I mean, listen, the win's
a win now. I will say I timed it right.
I should say I timed it wrong because I won
the bracket challenge when there was nothing to win for
the host, like a couple of years ago, the host
actually won something like didn't someone walk away with a TV?
Speaker 1 (18:30):
I win it.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
I had the tie breaker and I didn't get anything.
I gotta bet on the.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Back two weeks free vacation, Well.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
I got it.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
I don't have vacation. I gotta get I gotta work.
They had pace. I'm up from one to four am
Friday night. I can't take vacation. I got three freaking
kids and they all want something. But I will say,
what's kind of funny about last year is I have
a theory. Okay, my bracket theory. It was a winning theory.
But every year. For about four years, five of six years,
(19:03):
I'd lost a Final four team in the first round.
I just bad luck, right, and and we had some
first round upsets. I think there was like an Iowa
State team in there that was pretty good. They got
beat in the first round, probably like an Arizona team
that you talked to me into picking.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Out beating the first round. So last year, I'm not
even kidding.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
I had submitted my Fox Sports Radio bracket and I
looked at it and said, I'm not picking Kentucky to
go to the Final four because I talked to myself.
I watched them in the SEC tournament with John Calipari'm like,
these guys are freaks.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
They're athletic freaks.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
No one's gonna beat them if they play like they should.
And so just on a whim, I said, you know what,
I'm gonna change it. I'm gonna have them getting beaten
the first round.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
And what happened.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
They got beat in the first round. Oakland beat them,
and the rest was history. Now, Oakland could have won
a few more games. I would have done even better
on the brackets, but winning's not good enough for you.
I could have won by a larger margin Arnie. It's
not it's not how far you go, it's how go
you fall? So I should have won by more.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
This year is so easy. I'm thinking I may have
a perfect bracket.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
No really, Yeah, what makes it so easy? In your opinion?
Speaker 2 (20:07):
Have we gone away from calling it? Are we trying
to do what they're doing in the women's Are we
calling it the Atlanta region, the San Francisco region, the
Indian and the Newark region.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Is that what we're going with now?
Speaker 3 (20:17):
Yeah, we're doing the cities because we're not really doing
the North, Southeast and Midwest. But it's very easy this
year because I think it's gonna be a lot of
the one and two seeds and not too many upsets.
We don't get a few of them in the first round,
but we're not gonna have any big oh my goodness,
George Mason in the final four, any boloney like that.
(20:38):
It's not gonna happen this year.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Well, I am just now officially looking for that twelve,
thirteen or fourteen seed that can make a run of
the final.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
I was hoping Arizona was gonna play. Yeah, so we
get a little revenge on that Bologna conference.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
But I guess every conference is a bloney conference, including
the one that you play.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
In real quick before we get a sega in here.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
I can understand like the lack of interest in college
hoops this year and really not generating a lot of buzz,
But why are you just like slam dunking, rubber stamping
that's that we're not going to see a team maker run.
What is it that tells you that, like, what evidence
do you have to support this scorching hot take of yours?
Speaker 3 (21:16):
What that is going to be the top two seeds
in each region? Is that?
Speaker 1 (21:21):
Yeah? Why? Well?
Speaker 3 (21:23):
I mean I just don't see, you know, first of all,
the look at the top teams, the Auburn's, the Dukes,
the Florida's, the Houstons. I mean, they're all just having
phenomenal years. They're just absolutely beast out there. Sure as
matter of fact, even take a look at the two seeds.
Saint John's going to the finals and are to the
to the final four, and there are two seeds strong
(21:45):
two seed out there. I don't even you know, I
don't even see many three seeds that are possibly that
could win the whole thing. Matter.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
They just lost one of their better players.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
So matter of fact, here's a little stat for you.
Arizona's A four has a better chance to win the
championship than every number three seed in the tournament.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
Is that according to those numbers I sent you from
sports Betting dot ag.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
That's according to Las Vegas.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Oh, the Vegas line number.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Yeah, the Vegas the odds to win the championship, they're
shorter for Arizona than every number three seed team. And
I think two of the two maybe also number fours too.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
But that's what this is about. It's about matchups.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
Haven't really well, every number three seed, you would think
that one of the three seeds would have been a
shorter mark than Arizona because they'd have an easier schedule.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Arizona probably should have been a three seed, to be honest.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Oh no, we're four seeds.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Fine.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
They did lose to Houston. Before they started the Big
twelve Conference tournament, they had lost I think three of
six or four six they had. They ran a tough
they had a tough goal there. You know, they lost
the Kansas and I believe they lost the Texas Tech.
They lost to Iowa State, so they did some bad losses.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
Well, I think there's some pretty bad three seats. To
be honest with you, I think that, and again I'm
not doubting. I think it's a wild number. But I
don't I don't think Kentucky's all that great. I don't
think George. I don't think Iowa States. I mean, I
would think just lost their best players.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
I think Texas Tech is a good Texas Tech.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
Has longer odds than Arizona.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Yes, yeah, oh wow.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Now I will admit that surprises me just a bit.
So I like Tech. I think that's a team. I'll
move on quite a bit in my bracket. But to hear,
I mean, they're twenty eight to one. It's not like
it's a massive number. It's twenty eight to one. In
Arizona's twenty six to one. I mean, hell, you guys
have better numbers than Michigan State is a two seat
to potentially win the thing.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
It is kind of perplexing trying to figure out where
than No. I guess you know, a lot of it
has to do is how much money's coming in. But
you do wonder how they came up with some of
these lines. I don't think they're really you know, right
on the pianos with you.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
You might be right.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Well, we're coming to you live tonight from the tech
iraq dot com studios. Your tweets coming up here in
just a bit. Let's talk about the toughest region in
a moment. First, Steve Sager is in the house with
everything that's going on in the world of sports. Good evening,
Steve de Sager. What's trending, my friend.
Speaker 7 (24:13):
And a good evening to you. And the NFL breaking
news is now official. The Cincinnati Bengals have agreed to
extensions with wide receiver Jamar Chase, an extra four years
at one hundred and twelve million dollars guaranteed, and theoretically
an extra four years with t Higgins. Not all guaranteed,
but I did read that recently Higgins changed to Jamar
Chase's agents, so they got that done together. The Ravens
(24:36):
signed backup quarterback.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
But by the way, are we taking guesses on what
their excuse will be next year when they don't make
the playoffs? Oh oh, Joe Bird didn't have enough insive line?
Speaker 7 (24:46):
Well, that part is true, Joe games. As you see
how often they had great offense and still didn't win
the game.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
I don't want to hear anything from them. I I
already heard from one.
Speaker 7 (24:56):
Since it's not for them, it's from the front office.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
You just weren't. You're blone.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
You got your two receivers and you got your quarterback.
As far as I'm good, so you should just play
with three people. Go out there.
Speaker 7 (25:06):
You made your bed, sleep in it. If that's all
the money you have, that's your line.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
Let's go.
Speaker 7 (25:10):
Okay, let's see suit him up. The Ravens sign backup
quarterback Cooper Rush from Dallas, and yes, shortstop Mookie Bets
of the Dodgers, not an outfielder anymore, will miss Tuesday's
opener in Japan and miss the Wednesday game against the
Cubs as well. The regular season for MLB is opening
with just these two games this week in Tokyo, first
game on Fox TV, then on FS one the second
(25:32):
day Tuesday and Wednesday six am Eastern time. Bets had
been been missing the two exhibitions that were played there
this weekend. There's a chance to even get sent home early.
Apparently he was ill before even leaving spring training for Japan.
The NBA's late game not close. It's the Thunder leading
with three and a half minutes to go at Milwaukee
one twelve to ninety seven. Okase's Record's going to be
(25:55):
fifty six and twelve. Orlando got to win at Cleveland
one oh three e The Cavs had won sixteen straight games.
Wins for Philadelphia and Brooklyn. Portland ended a five game
losing streak. Clippers won, Minnesota won it's eighth straight. Anthony
Edwards forty one points against Utah won twenty eight one
to oh two to the final, and the Lakers got
thirty three points from Luka Doncic and beat Phoenix today
(26:17):
one oh seven ninety six. Lakers were up by twenty
in the first quarter and golf play was suspended due
to darkness at the players. It'll be a three hole
playoff Monday. Rory McElroy against jj Spawn winner against four
and a half million dollars. The NASCAR race went to
Josh Berry at Las Vegas, his first ever Cup Series victory.
(26:40):
He had won twice at Vegas in Inxfinity events. Daniel
Swarez finished second. Series leader William Byron was fourth Today.
This ended Christopher Bell's three race Cup winning streak. Had
to start at the back because of an unapproved change
and in the race was penalized on a pit stop
later wound up finishing twelve.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
He had his lug nuts tight in his teammates pitstall.
I've never seen it before in my life. They got
an it was loose radio forward, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Tires less, go in your teammates, pitchtall, get it fixed.
Speaker 7 (27:12):
So because he wasn't in his square or his area, yeah, sorry, the.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
Gas station next door or something like that, they couldn't
take the Absolutely.
Speaker 7 (27:23):
Yes, it's just like that. NASCAR's on FS one again
the next four Sundays, and of course all seventeen IndyCar
races this season are on Fox TV. That includes the
Indy five hundred late May, and the IndyCar season continues
next Sunday. That season will end in August. And you
were talking coops. Auburn is the number one overall seed
Stronger Conference. They said, you know, they lost at Duke
(27:44):
in December. Duke is a one seed, just not number
one overall. Houston's a one seed, could face a second
round matchup against Gonzaga. Florida is a one seed. The
Gators won the SEC Tournament beating Tennessee. An SEC school
has not won the national title in men's basketball since
twenty twelve. Kentucky North Carolina did get in last team
(28:06):
in It'll face San Diego State on Tuesday night that winter,
then plays Friday against Ole Miss.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Back to you trying to go through Arnie's bracket here,
kind of see what I like what I don't like?
So you go ahead just for the sake of debate, right,
and you go ahead and pick who you think is
gonna win the play in game two.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
So you got you got.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
North Carolina not only winning the play in game but
beating Ole Miss.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Right, So they win two games, actually the favorite over
San Diego State by like two or three points, I believe.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
So I like how you say there's no interest, no
upsets here, and you have Yale in the sweet sixteen.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Yeah, that's I mean, I do have seven first round upsets,
but I mean only a couple that are really shocking.
They're not like like you see San Diego. Do you
know what that line is against Michigan right off the bat?
I mean you would think that was like some type
of big one. No, it's I think it's like four
or five.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
It. You see San Diego is really good? You see
San Diego, I'm kind of surprised to see. So they
got Michigan all the way up to uh five. Yeah,
if you see San Diego hadn't won their conference tournament, areny,
they probably would have had.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
A case to make it asn't that large?
Speaker 3 (29:14):
Cool?
Speaker 2 (29:15):
So they're a pretty good team. You got I see
what you're doing here. You got Liberty winning their first
round matchup against Oregon, so you wouldn't have to worry
about them in the second round.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
What what an injustice? We'll put Oregon up there? So
a number what is it? A number five s could
go ahead and play in Seattle, a four hour drive
from their from their campus. So Arizona gets them in
the second round. That's that's so bogus.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Well that's you guys round.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
Yeah, that's I guess we're gonna have to That's okay.
Liberty is gonna win anyway. I like this Liberty team.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Did you do you, big Liberty?
Speaker 3 (29:53):
Well they score a lot a big Liberty fan.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
Don't you fall from McNeice again. Don't do it.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
I got them winning like three games.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
You got them going to the Sweet sixteen again this year.
Don't do it. They're not that good. I do it every year.
Though I know you did it last year.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Everyone fell for him last year. I will say I
like your UCSD pick a lot. I like the That
might be one of my bigger upsets in the first round.
I can't get behind North Carolina right now. But with
that in mind, which region, Arnie Spanier, before we hit
your tweets, which region do you think is the most difficult?
Let me rephrase it, which one seed got the toughest road?
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Well, I do think the toughest region are the ones
thing that got the toughest road. I think it's all
the same. Is the East in Newark? I mean, yes,
Duke is the number one seed rightfully, so there's no
if fans or butts about that. But everybody else, I mean,
it's tough when Alabama's a strong too, even.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Though they got smoked in the in the SEC tournament,
they're really good.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
They're a really really good team. Arizona a number four,
as you mentioned, they're better shot to win the whole
thing than every number three and number four seeds in
this tournament. And Wisconsin had a really good year and
they're the number three seed in that one. That's got
to be the hardest overall. When you take a look
(31:13):
at it. I think, well, I haven't done the easiest yet,
but we haven't done that one yet. But overall, when
you have that type of depth one through four, I
don't think any other region you can have all four
teams that could come out of it. So I think
it's gonna be the East right now.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
I kind of think Auburn got host a little bit.
I think, oh, big time, they got home. Yeah, not
only with the Lexington trip and the potential second round
matchup with with Yeah, but yeah, but then again, I
say that and Iowa States leaking, They leaking, Uh, Michigan
State just got being the Big ten tournament. Didn't look
(31:48):
all that good. Marquette was faltering down the stretch this year.
Didn't Auburn lose like three of their last four. They struggled,
They lost to Alabama, they lost in the SEC tournament.
So I mean they haven't necessarily played all that well.
Maybe maybe that's just a region of kind of stinking
because you're not supposed to gauge in the mint's turn.
(32:09):
You know, the women's tournament cares how you play down
the stretch, right, they care about the final ten. The
mids they don't it's like the final ten doesn't matter Auburn.
I give him grace because it feels like which and
I broom. They've had the one seed wrapped up, the
number one overall, and a one seat wrapped up for
quite a while. So I don't know if it's just
maybe they've already played their best basketball, but I want
(32:30):
to say they have the toughest roads.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
And then I look at it and I'm not all
that floored by it.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
No, I'm not floored by it, and I'm a little
surprised they got the number one overall. I'm still curious
what I would do if I'm Duke, if I'm gonna
play Cooper Flag, if I'm going to sit him. You
don't need him against what is it Mount Saint Mary's
or American or wherever they play.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
In the first round.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
You probably don't need him even need him in the
second game, do you? But you want to be maybe
getting him out out there. But if you can just
rest them the first two games, that makes all the
difference in the world.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
Grip.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
If you're playing a team that's won a national championship
in the last five years in that second round, I
think you need him. I mean, that's what Baylor is. Obviously,
all those dudes in that team are gone. But I don't.
I don't want to take that risk of playing either
Baylor or Mississippi State without Cooper flag do you No,
I don't.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
Want to, but it would certainly make the difference if
I could rest them one more week. If it can't
be done, I'm still not going to play him against
Mount Saint Mary's, are you, though?
Speaker 1 (33:30):
You know? Put him out that well? I don't. I mean,
there is just to get in the flow of things
or what.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
Duke has the shortest odds of the one seeds in
the tournament plus three thirty. For some reason, they made
it thirty three to ten. Whatever, they want to make
it hard on me mathwise, I don't get that. I
don't think he's healthy, Arnie. I don't think he's gonna play.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
I just told you.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
They think it's so much of an easier road than all.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
Right, right, exactly, all right, when we come back to
the tyrack dot com studios, let's get your takes on it.
That's the stink Engenior Sarny Span you're on. Chris Plank

Speaker 3 (34:38):
I was just thinking they need the feature mission. What
they need to do? Dude? Does that mean I have
to have like my uh computer on while we do
the show? Is that what I have to do?
Speaker 1 (34:47):
We could come up with something, right, Ian, I think
we could probably have zoom.
Speaker 8 (34:51):
One and you're talking to I mean like if the
if the listeners want to see you, we can do that.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Oh they want to see we could? We could we
could do a stream. Curious is the engineering guru? He
can make any of this happen for you?
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Ronny?
Speaker 2 (35:04):
I don't know why you're acting like I can't do this.
I mean, you got a new modem last week?
Speaker 3 (35:09):
I did I sound nice and good. I feel good,
so fugged that off uppy right.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Well, I'm happy for you, and again we're gonna talk
about it a lot tonight. But Tractor Supply, you gotta
go fill out your bracket. I'm a little bit disappointing
that I'm going to get mine submitted before you will.
You haven't submitteders yet, have you?
Speaker 3 (35:28):
No? No, I gotta wait till tomorrow. I'll do my
off for the fives five.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
I'm gonna be first in. Are you gonna be okay
with that? Well?
Speaker 3 (35:36):
I already got mine, not on Twitter, though, but it's
gonna be different than the one I put out on Twitter.
I just want you to know that.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Why what do you change? Why would you do that?
Speaker 3 (35:44):
I gotta make a few changes a couple.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Are you gonna take a Yale out of the Sweet sixteen?
Speaker 3 (35:48):
No, I'm gonna keep dead man. I like you, I do.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
I do like them.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
I wish Arizona was playing them though. I wanted to
kick their backside.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Uh Russ, the goat has hit us up on the X.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
He writes, I accepted a challenge of any three full
sized bags of Jalapedo potato chips if Duke doesn't win
the tournament.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
What kind of challenge is that? That sounds awesome?
Speaker 3 (36:08):
It does well, I mean, there's still the favorite, but
I'm not wouldn't bet that much on it because, I mean,
you still want to see what Cooper flag is gonna do.
You still want to see how healthy he's gonna be,
and there's no you know, no guarantee that go ahead
and win the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
Nature Boy does point out that apparently Tennessee apparently Plank
cheated up last year.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
The right you did.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
You took all of mine and then you changed two
of my answers to the right ones.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Who still?
Speaker 2 (36:34):
I mean, and listen, I'm not here to brag I
won the bracket challenge last year, but aren't he's going
to tell you that he did.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
It's it's like, that's like we should be a shame.
That's like me beating Hussein both in the hundred yard dash.
The fact that you want it is such an embarrassment
to this whole network.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
It's just crazy, right, I mean crazy someone that's actually
been to a bunch of college basket.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
Look, I'm trying to compliment. You don't take it away.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
Winning the back should be how many college hoops games
should be to this year.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
I mean, it's like the office secretary winning the office pool.
You're a softball guy, You're the Chris Plage softball guy,
and you win the basketball contest.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
That's yeah. I mean, all you basketball experts got leave tours.
You should just tap out. I mean, in fact, the
way you make it sound, all you sports guys should
tap out and I should sit here and I don't know,
talk about nail polish or something.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
So yeah, take that.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
Joe Judges Berner, who occasionally hits a home run every
now and then, has an intriguing one here, AREN'TI Yeah,
he writes, every member of this crooked criminal committee needs
to be institutionalized for a minimum of twenty years in
a psychiatric facility to study their brains. This is extreme
(37:47):
mental wand bornerline criminal America Carolina over at North Carolina
getting in over West Virginia. I know, Joe Judges Berner
was that passionate about what West Virginia basketball.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
I know, but I guess said it was egregious one
in twelve quad one wins. Who would have thought that
they were even gonna get in? I thought, if somebody
was going to get in it was gonna be Indiana
or Boise or something like that.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
I guess part of the theory too, is there's a
twenty four to seven sports report out there.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
Now.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
Again, there can be things on the intrawebs that are
not correct and just suddenly go viral.
Speaker 1 (38:20):
For oh, I don't know they fit a narrative.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
But there's a report that Bubba Cunningham's contract allows him
to receive an extra a month of his salary if
North Carolina makes the NCAA tournament. And I again, like
I said, if I was and he wasn't allowed to
be in the room, and he wasn't conferred about it
or anything, And I don't think I think Bubba's doing okay,
Joe Judges Burner, I don't think he has to go
(38:44):
to be like, guys, listen, if you get North Carolina
in the tournament, slid an extra hundred year away, I
don't think that's an issue.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
Nobody doesn't have to be in the room either. Those
talks would have happened as they drove over from Chick
fil A or something like that. They're like, hey, you
know I picked up the sweet teas.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
You gotta do me yet, So I don't think I
don't think that that had anything to do with it.
But the fact that West Virginia had six quad one wins, heck,
the Hoosiers had four of them. Indiana didn't have a
single loss outside of a quad one game, and even
Ohio State had six squad one wins and North Carolina
(39:20):
had one.
Speaker 3 (39:22):
One and twelve one and twelve.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
That'd be one win, twelve loss. It just seems a
little bit concerning. As the kids would say, I am ho,
We'll get more of your texts coming up next because
I think it's a fascinating night. In thirty seconds, your
biggest upset is it Rydan Yale or McNeice right now?
Speaker 3 (39:44):
Yeah, I think the Yale and McNeice, So the top
two of my upsets.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
I've got a better one for you when week ooh,
I like that. And we got Todd Furman to look
at the numbers.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
We've got some I guess tips and tricks to.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Help you fill your bracket out more on a March
and this kind of a Sunday night that's already spanner
on Chris Plank.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
This is Fox Sports Radio. Stigure out. You're listening to

(40:30):

complaining about how the NCAA tournament just seems what doll
storyline lister.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
I figured out Jews.
Speaker 3 (40:42):
Well, I figured out why some of the cities are
bothering me too. You know what I mean? Because I
told you Seattle so far away, so isolated? Why is
it there? You know?
Speaker 1 (40:52):
Why are we like it's a foreign country at Seattle. Man,
It's a city.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
One city that should definitely be in the rotation every year.
And I don't mean for the final four. I just
mean for the first round has to be Phoenix one.
It's very accessible from all the West Coast teams. I
want to go and watch their teams play from California
and up and down the coast. Also, it's very accessible
from many of the Big twelve teams or SEC teams.
If you're coming from Texas or Oklahoma, especially Texas, there's
(41:19):
so many schools there very easily. You can get to Phoenix, Arizona.
And if you're a school that's a little bit far
away but you're in bad you know, not great weather,
maybe you make the trip to Phoenix to enjoy a
little bit of weather. So three reasons and very accessible.
But yet they don't have Phoenix out there. They give
you Seattle. Who's going to go to Seattle? And that's
another thing. Don't you love when there's like a couple
(41:42):
of thousand fans show up for the team and they're
back of the team and they're enjoying it. You're not
gonna get that unless you're you're gonna see Louisville their
fans going to Lexington and stuff like that. You're not
gonna see too much of that this year because it's
so far away from some of these schools.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
Well, I mean, in fairness, it actually Phoenix hosts the
Final four. So you're like, why don't they go to Phoenix, Well,
they they host the Final four.
Speaker 3 (42:13):
Rotation, but it's got to be in the first round
because well, so you can go to the games, you
know what I mean, You're gonna go to the Final
four no matter where it is. If you're one of
the four teams in there. It could be in timbuk two,
but you're gonna want to see your team play the
first round when you're on short notice. It's so tough
to Seattle. I mean, where is that on the map?
(42:33):
Can you point it out? My goodness, man.
Speaker 2 (42:36):
It's where you act like there's not professional teams that
play in Seattle. I mean, they've got an NFL team.
We got a Major League Baseball.
Speaker 3 (42:45):
To prove it. If nobody watches the game, is there
really an NFL team there?
Speaker 8 (42:49):
Prove it? There's really like the senior ball going on
in Mobile, Alabama.
Speaker 3 (42:55):
You have an issue with Seattle, Washington.
Speaker 1 (42:57):
It's major city. What you're doing.
Speaker 3 (43:00):
They got it hard to get to. I just and
you know it's not just Seattle too, So don't just
act like.
Speaker 1 (43:05):
Com go well, okay, then what else is it?
Speaker 3 (43:08):
Well, Milwaukee's another one out there. Do we have to
have it in Milwaukee? Why Milwaukee?
Speaker 1 (43:13):
Milwaukee?
Speaker 3 (43:13):
Oh, because it's such a college hotbed that we got
to have it in Milwaukee.
Speaker 1 (43:17):
And Marquette University is the host of it.
Speaker 3 (43:20):
Oh gee, that's great. Then, well, thank goodness for that.
Let's just have it every year. There, I understand why
we're going to Raleigh and and places. I understand Providence.
At least the people from Massachusetts and New York and
the East coast can get to that.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
You understand the coast. Yeah, okay, go ahead, give you
another one.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
What about Denver? What's why there?
Speaker 1 (43:40):
Give me your why?
Speaker 3 (43:41):
We're all big Air Force fans down in Colorado Springs
University of Denver. You see fans in Colorado? Why Denver?
Why are we putting it there? Who wants to fly
in and out of Denver? It's such a pain in
the backside. Nobody wants to go to Denver.
Speaker 1 (43:57):
Stop that. You know that this has been the case
for a really long time.
Speaker 2 (44:03):
Whatver? I'm just talking about these cities in general. Like
next year, are you gonna throw a fit whenever one
of the first and second round sites is Oklahoma City
or wait for this one, Portland, Oregon. Whenever it's a
first round site next year? You're gonna be okay with that?
Speaker 3 (44:18):
No it, We'll be okay with Portland. But maybe tell
shouldn't you think it'd be a little bit closer to
some of the college towns, or in maybe some of
these big college towns like I wouldn't be opposed of
it being in like Norman. How about that, wouldn't that
be great?
Speaker 2 (44:32):
Well, in fairness, Arnie, you're trying to avoid giving too
much of a home court advantage. I mean, you want
to try to make it as the NCAA. This is
gonna sound dumb. And it's not a me rule. It's
an NCAA rule. They want to try to make these
tournaments as neutral as they can. It's just it's it's stupid, right,
I can't tell Yeah, right, So, and these cities submit
(44:55):
bids to host these first and second games, and honestly,
Tall as a host in like five or six years.
And when we finally got I was part of them.
I was a part of the group, but we were
really pushing hard to try to get first and second
round games there. It's awesome for the community.
Speaker 3 (45:12):
Oh absolutely, That's why I'm not you know, I'm for
these you know, Lexington, I'm actually okay with I forget
that Louisville gets an unfair advantage. I'm just talking about
the you know, it's a college town, you know, for
foremost accessible something with rally too, I'm okay with that one. Also,
you know you got the Carolina schools down there and
(45:33):
accessible town I'm okay with towns like that, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (45:38):
By the way, I want to make this point very clear.
I love Seattle. I think we've got a great affiliate
in seattlekjrus one. You just asked if it was even
in the United States of America, and a point on the.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
Map and show you where it is.
Speaker 2 (45:58):
What are you doing because they're Why are you mad
that Seattle a place that had their NBA team ripped
from them and now they're having to watch them be
the most dominant force in the universe.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
That sucks.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
You just went and you shape traded out for Sam
Darnold at quarterback.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
I mean the Mariners. It's been rough for Seattle, aren't
it is? Why are you not letting them have their
first second tournament?
Speaker 3 (46:21):
Arizona probably gonna win and play Oregon in the second
round and the place is gonna be twenty thousand pack
full of Oregon fans. I could see that out.
Speaker 2 (46:29):
Let's see Eugene Oregon to Seattle four hours. Oh you
already looked it up.
Speaker 3 (46:34):
I already looked it up four hours.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
Four hours, twenty three minutes.
Speaker 3 (46:37):
I had four hours in eight minutes. I must have
picked the wrong part.
Speaker 2 (46:40):
Two hundred and eighty three miles all right, I could
walk that. You could walk that walk down. So is
that where it's frustration is coming from for these cities?
Speaker 3 (46:49):
Marketit? That's one of them, that's part of it out there.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
Well, I will say I find it funny on a
Sunday night when the brackets are out, that you're complaining
about them, but yet the first or Roman numerals on
the beloved Roman numeral rundown. Yeah, I have everything to
do with the NCAA tournament, right, Well, it's still the
big thing out there. Am I wrong when I said
I'm not feeling the madness? Actually a couple of people
said the same thing. Our producer who you keep talking.
Speaker 3 (47:14):
To, he said, he's not feeling the madness at all
either for some reason. I don't know, maybe because some
of the spreads are low, or I'm not feeling any
of the thirteen fourteen, fifteen seeds winning or something. I'm
just done.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
I got to be honest with you, Okay, We've had
this fight every single year. I couldn't care. Le's what
the spreads are in a tournament game. I just don't care.
Speaker 1 (47:34):
And I don't know.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
You're like, oh, that's kind of a close spread. So
I mean when have you looked at it and said, man,
that's spread. The McNee spread was tight last year And
you're like, oh, look out, I just I love the matchups.
Why do you need a spread to be close or
be wide in order for you not to enjoy the
NCAA tournament?
Speaker 3 (47:53):
I well, what are you calling an upset then? And
you're certainly not doing it by seeds or are you
looking just by seeds and by because you know, sometimes
it's seven to Oh, it's an upset ten beat seven
when it was like a pickup game or something like that.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
But it's still it's still a ten beating of seven.
I mean, it's it's still an upset. I don't the
ten could be the favorite, and to me, it's still
an upset.
Speaker 3 (48:16):
You see when I picked U see San Diego over Michigan, Well,
but that's not really a big upset. Even though it's
a twelve over five, Michigan's only a two and a
half point favorite right now that have you ever seen
a twelve and a five only separated by two and
a half in the spread. I don't think I've ever
seen that before in the history of the NC Douable.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
I think it's getting tighter. I think it's getting tighter.
I think it's been this way for a while. But
I mean, you just you're wanting to matter. Here's the thing.
You're in this group of people that want all the
blue bloods to win because you want all the big
names there.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
But you also want all the upsets.
Speaker 3 (48:47):
I want a few of the Yeah, I want them
in the first round.
Speaker 1 (48:50):
Of course.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
That's what makes this the the tournament that it is.
That's why we love doing the brackets. We want the
McNee state to win, or or Drake people jumping on
and they're bare wagon.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
All of a sudden, the UC san diegos, But you
don't want to see him advance out of the second time.
You don't watch them, then we're done with you.
Speaker 3 (49:08):
You know. It's like hitting on a girl at a bar.
We want to talk to you, but I mean, please
don't call me the next day.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
There you go, Oh my gosh, that's quite the analogy.
But I understand what you're getting at. I just I
think you're like purposefully trying to implode your own viewing
experience for the NCAA Tournament. I don't know you're mad
about sits, you're mad about where teams are.
Speaker 3 (49:28):
I'm so mad. I have an eight o'clock basketball game
on Friday night in the Arizona game starts at seven
thirty five, So.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
Your personal rec league, that's gonna be a tough choice. Arnie,
which way are you gonna go watch.
Speaker 3 (49:40):
The Arizona Well, the Arizona game probably gonna start late.
Those things are the third game in the Seattle region,
so you know we'll be pushed back about a half
hour to forty five minutes.
Speaker 2 (49:49):
A couple of quick tweet slash exes before we get
Todd Furman in here. Mister nobody writes as a Florida
State fan, I hate Florida in the SEC, but I'll
probably struggle to pick Duke because even though which k
has gone, I still hate them with the burning of
a million suns. Well, maybe we don't have a hateable
figure anymore in college basketball, right.
Speaker 3 (50:08):
Well, we used to hate Duke, right, but why are
we not hating Duke? To the number one seed and
almost the number one overall? Why are we not because
Coach K has gone. If Coach K was still the coach,
we'd be hating them big time.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
You know, I think you're right. I think you're right.
Nature boy stop, he writes, what channel is Truth TV?
It's True TV, And every single person on Twitter is
going to have the joke on do they put the
you have the up with the channels up? Do they
put the playing games on True TV? Because everyone's gonna
have the same joke. Time for me to find out
(50:40):
what channel True TV is on, Like, you guys don't
watch World's Most Dumbest Criminals.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
Yeah, they do have it on.
Speaker 2 (50:47):
Uh it was one of the different brackets that you
said to me.
Speaker 1 (50:52):
Yeah it is on True TV.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
So on Tuesday and Wednesday night you'll have everyone joking about, well,
I don't even know what channel True TV is, trying
to find out what channel True TVs on. So just
prepare yourself it's coming. I hope you guys call out
the first person you see that does in. Uh, Toga Rights.
I'm sorry, Colin Wrights. I'm not much of an NCAA
basketball game basketball guy, but if you don't talk about
(51:15):
March Madness, I'll actually be disappointed.
Speaker 1 (51:18):
Go Wildcats.
Speaker 3 (51:20):
Oh wow, we'll get ad People were giving me crap
earlier in the day. Was once the brackets came out,
I didn't pick Arizona to go all the way the
you know, Torres called me a fair weather fan. How
about that?
Speaker 1 (51:31):
But you you picked them every single year.
Speaker 2 (51:33):
I feel like this is some sort of reverse psychology
that you're trying to throw out there or something.
Speaker 3 (51:38):
I just I'm just not feeling it with them now.
They did lose a lot of games. I didn't think
they what do they have, like twelve losses or something
that way too many? I thought that there was going
to be and we lost to some of that Bologna,
the list Godsons and.
Speaker 1 (51:53):
Tech, Wisconsin, Ken and there are three CN.
Speaker 3 (51:56):
Texas Tech for crying out lost Kansas, Kansas in Kansas.
Yeah that makes me just just I have to take
a shower now.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
Twenty two and twelve this year not bad. Finished fourth
in the Big twelve, fifth in the Big twelve, Arizona
third in the Big twelve. Uh final tight tied for
third of b y U b Yu went to a tiebreaker.
Speaker 1 (52:19):
So there you go.
Speaker 3 (52:20):
No, they were the fourth seed. We were the third seed?
Speaker 2 (52:22):
Thank you?
Speaker 1 (52:23):
Were they really?
Speaker 3 (52:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (52:24):
Well, why does the big twelve standings have you guys
behind them?
Speaker 3 (52:27):
It has, but I think they go by overall record.
Speaker 1 (52:29):
Ah, twenty two and twelve, when they were twenty four
and nine, that would be.
Speaker 3 (52:32):
Right there, you guys see there you go.
Speaker 2 (52:34):
See Look now you just you're you're so quick to
defend them.
Speaker 1 (52:38):
Yeah, you're just dumping him. I'm like, what four seed? Like, no,
there were the three? They were the three?
Speaker 3 (52:42):
Just correct? Isn't you just telling you the way? It is? Misinformation?
Speaker 7 (52:47):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (52:47):
Keen Wright? Is Zona going to the Final four? And
did you ask the boss to take off from work
for the championship or are we moving on to the Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
No, I'm taking off a week when the Knicks went
the championship, so I got that off, and I'm definitely
taking a week off when the Mets or when the
Dolphins win the Super Bowl, and I'm taking a Sunday off.
I already put that in to go to the Dominican
Republican May So I've taken a lot of time off
(53:17):
coming up.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
That's wait, what is there a baseball game there or something?
Speaker 3 (53:21):
Or No, I don't know. I'm just going for whatever reason.
I think I bought a package there or something.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
Okay, and then here's Geda. He writes, here we go
with Spaniard comparing the tournament to a ham sandwich. That's
pretty much happened here today. I don't know why. I
think part of it. I think part of it is
because you truly don't believe in your team. And if
you want to say Ian's not into it, I mean
for Ian, he's a USC fan in a Texas fan.
Speaker 1 (53:47):
That's the worst curse you could happen.
Speaker 3 (53:48):
I've been I've been into the tournament when Arizona was
like a nine seed or something, and here they are
as we as we already mentioned, they have a better
shot than all the three seeds in the fourth seeds,
so they do have a chance.
Speaker 9 (54:03):
I just just got feeling it with them. They've lost
some close games this year, but it's funny because they
got in. They got yeah in Houston to one twice.
Speaker 2 (54:13):
They got beat in the first round last year, and
you were like, oh, they're going all the way, and
it's like, I don't.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
I think you're trying to play mental games here.
Speaker 2 (54:20):
That's what I think is going on, all right, Todd
Princeton game still still crushing me.
Speaker 1 (54:25):
Yeah, you were supposed to quit your job after it,
but here we are.
Speaker 3 (54:28):
That the loss you're talking about the Princeton game.
Speaker 2 (54:30):
No, no, no, all of them that Arizona has lost
in the first round. You've always got your job on them.
Speaker 3 (54:36):
I saw the one when you sent me the Oklahoma one.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
Oh gosh, that was Arizona one.
Speaker 3 (54:41):
I was at that game?
Speaker 1 (54:43):
Was the was that in the eighties?
Speaker 3 (54:44):
Yeah, Josh Pazner gave me a ticket to the game.
Speaker 1 (54:47):
Look at you, hey?
Speaker 2 (54:48):
Like basketball, Tractor Supply knows in a winning season, takes practice, teamwork,

All right, I'll continue to try to get Arnie fired
up about March Madness with the help of Todd firm
and next on Fox Sports Radio. All right, We're coming
to you live from the tire rack dot com studios.
It's Arnie and playing on Fox Sports Sunday. Arnie's been
complaining about March Madness. I will say, I think if
Arizona was like a two seed, you'd be all about this.
Speaker 3 (55:45):
Doesn't really make it eff it's a two seed, three seed,
four seed, does it really?
Speaker 1 (55:49):
How about this? If you thought Arizona was gonna win
it all, you'd be all about it.
Speaker 3 (55:55):
Hey, I was excited when Arizona was ten sed one year.
They I didn't even think they were going to make
the turn.
Speaker 1 (56:00):
Oh I love it.
Speaker 3 (56:01):
We're going all We're going all the way. But no,
I just I'm not feeling it this year.
Speaker 1 (56:05):
Well, Todd Ferman joined.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
Just Todd, do you feel like there's some juice lacking
from the field of sixty eight?
Speaker 5 (56:11):
Yeah, I mean I think there always is when you
look at the way that the regions lay out. You're
trying to identify some of the cinderella stories of the
programs and players that don't get a whole lot of
national attention throughout the course of the year. And like
every good college basketball handicapper, do everything the exact opposite
of people like Arnie and Sat Davis tell us to
do with our bracket.
Speaker 3 (56:30):
Good point, you know, Tod, But I'm not feeling the
you know, the big upsets this year. I yeah, I
do have like five or six, But do I consider
you see San Diego an upset when it's a twelve
and a five, but they're only a two and a
half point dog.
Speaker 1 (56:45):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 5 (56:46):
Well, I think for me, you know, I look at
it a little bit differently. So I'm probably not the
best litmus test with a lot of those things, because
you're exactly right, Arnie, if a team wins outright as
a two and a half point dog, I don't really
care much about how they're being seated for it to
be a bigger ups or something that kind of shakes
college basketball. If you're looking at some of those low
major programs that are out there, and not to discredit U,
(57:07):
see San Diego and what they've been able to accomplish
only being a divisional wommer for a few years, but
twenty nine to thirty wins pretty impressive resume. You know,
if you're looking for a team that could be a
giant killer, maybe it's a high point that can upset
Perdue or a grand Canyon that can do a little
bit of damage as a double digit dog. But unless
we're talking about ones and two seeds going down, I
think some of the Cinderella storylines get removed from the
(57:29):
equation and you just try and go pick winners in
these games, whether it's from an ATS perspective or when
you're filling out your brackets to try and beat your
friends and family.
Speaker 2 (57:37):
Well, you know, I think one of the most fascinating
conversations always is who did or who did not get in?
And with North Carolina getting in, I'm surprised you shocked
at all? And does West Virginia have as much beef
as it seems like they should.
Speaker 5 (57:52):
I mean, I won't clean to be a bracketologist by
any stretch of the imagination. I don't go through ranking
the field one through sixty eight like a lot of
the college basket. All folks out there do but one
hundred and eleven out of one hundred and eleven brackets
that are typically used as a good identifier or a
lens through which you're trying to anticipate which teams are
going to be in the field. Was definitely surprised that
(58:13):
West Virginia found themselves on the outside, and even Indiana
to a lesser extent when you look at what the
Hoosiers had done down the stretch. I think San Diego
State got the benefit of the doubt despite playing in
a Mountain West conference that hasn't exactly performed all that well,
but San Diego State has been the one bright light
from that league over the last couple of seasons. And
then North Carolina. I mean, we've all talked about how
(58:34):
watered down the ACC is no greater illustration of them
getting three teams in the basically the field as a
whole in Louisville being the third seed coming in on
the eight nine line. I don't know what North Carolina
did that allowed the committee to go, hey, look, this
is a team that we have to put in based
on potential. When you're one to twelve against the better
schools on your schedule, it's.
Speaker 3 (58:55):
Called being the head of the committee. I think is
is what it aid, as.
Speaker 5 (58:58):
It definitely doesn't hurt to have a little bit of
juice in that regard.
Speaker 1 (59:01):
You're correct, as just Tod.
Speaker 3 (59:03):
How are you betting this tournament? Are you betting the
odds to win the whole thing? Odds to go to
the final four? Casinos have bracket pools, or that's just
for us in the office. I don't know. You you
tell me how you're betting this.
Speaker 5 (59:16):
You know, a couple of books have experimented with it,
but they found that most people when they're filling out
their brackets are going to do They're putting up a
little bit of money to make a lot all the
folks that try and throw their darts in hope that
they're able to land the first perfect bracket and recorded history.
But you do have a myriad of betting options. You
can pick regional winners, you can pick yes no's on
teams to get to the sweet sixteen over under on
(59:37):
conference wins. We'll be available later in the week, and
I think I'm as fascinated like anybody else to see
what the over under is set for at the SEC
knowing that they've had a record number of teams into
the field, and it's a league that has to go
out there and now perform with so many expectations around
not just their power programs, but some of the teams
that are mired in that mushy middle, or even a
(59:59):
Texas that will get say kicked off in my opinion
against the team handling from the Big East that was
a relatively down conference by Big East standards.
Speaker 1 (01:00:06):
Tom, how much do trends matter to you? For instance,
saw this tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
Over the last eleven tournaments, the Big Ten five seeds
are just three and six in five twelve matchups, and
we've got two of them in this Big Dance Doe.
Speaker 1 (01:00:19):
Trends like that matter to.
Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
You or no?
Speaker 5 (01:00:21):
Well, sometimes it suggests that a conference may or may
not struggle with a particular seed line, whether they're overvalued
or undervalued. But I think, like always, you have to
identify the individual matchups and look at team A against
Team B, factor in a little bit of previous history,
but not fall in love with some of the trends
that are out there when you're trying to not only
fill out your brackets, but also trying to identify those
(01:00:42):
winners and the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday games. From
a betting perspective, that'll be out there because a lot
of the teams that you're going to see showcase under
those bright lights. The casual fan hasn't paid much attention to.
They don't watch high point when they're going through their
conference road to try and get here any of the
sixteen seeds over some of the other giant killers that
could be out there in that thirteen to fourteen line.
Speaker 3 (01:01:03):
Todd, the numbers are on your side though. You know,
we were talking about this earlier about my Arizona team.
They're a four seed, but they have a better chance
to win the championship than every three seed and four
seed in the tournament. So there's got to be three
and four seeds out are going to pay off pretty
well if you want to pick up to go that far.
Speaker 5 (01:01:20):
You know, it's all about identifying some of the pass
that are in various regions. I mean, if you're arcing
under the assumption, aren'ty that Cooper Flagg won't be one
hundred percent for Duke, then suddenly the eight to one
or nine to one that's out there in Arizona to
win the region or four to one in Alabama, or
maybe even a little bit more of a long shot
price on a Wisconsin or VCU somehow get a lot
more intriguing. And I think that's what's so fascinating about it,
(01:01:43):
because we do see odds on teams to win the
national championship, you know, as far as when the season
starts here, I guess I should say when the previous
season ends. And then you'll get a team like Saint
John's who saw their odds to get to the final
four gep as low As right around two and a
half three to one before the field was announced, and
now you know what that road is going to look like,
and that price tag is drifted out to plus six fifty.
(01:02:05):
So sometimes the early bird gets the worm, and sometimes
it's a little bit more helpful to identify some of
these teams and how things are going to lay out.
I think the one team that'll fascinate folks the most
that's going to have a very difficult second round game,
at least if you trust some of the advanced analytics
sites out there, will be the Houston Cougars. Gonzaga listed
as the third favorite to come out of the Midwest
Regional at a price tag right around eat and a half.
(01:02:27):
The one and the one thing we've seen from Houston
in the past. If they struggle to score or go
through prolonged droughts, Gonzaga has the offensive firepower to match them.
I'm just not sure Gonzaga could defend much better than
some of the guys that you'll see playing on a
Friday night at the YMCA. From this addition of Mark feezegroup.
Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
Hey, you surprised with fourteen teams out of the SEC
from following you this year, does that shock you at all? Again,
like you said, you're not a bracketologist, but just with
the style of play and watching the league this year, no, really.
Speaker 5 (01:02:55):
It looked like it was a clear cut above everyone
else when you see how these teams are battle tested
on a gaming game in game out basis. You look
at some of the non conference records. I know Oklahoma
didn't exactly play murderers Row, but they took care of
all the foes that weren't hailing from that SEC zip code.
It's thirteen to zero to get into conference. So people
look at those win loss records and I understand some
of the frustration there. But the one thing that I
(01:03:18):
felt confident, And when you look at this bracket is
a lot of those teams that we thought were going
to be on the outside looking in if they didn't
win their one bid leagues team had gone out there
and taken care of business. We've mentioned San Diego, We've
mentioned High Point VCU didn't have to go through a
sweaty selection Sunday if they came up short in their
conference championship against George Mason. So it's always good when
(01:03:38):
the most dominant teams from some of those smaller leagues
get in because they win that auto bid. I think
it makes it a little bit easier for the power
conferences to be well represented. And now the SEC with
a giant target on their back. We'll see how these
teams go out there and match up, but it's the
SEC and a clear step down to some of the
other leagues, the couple leagues that I have the most
questions about the Big East being won because I think
(01:03:59):
it's Saint John's and everybody else, and even with the
Big Ten, you know, once you get past the top
of the league, I'm not necessarily even sure I buy
into Michigan State O than the coaching pedigree you've seen
from Tom Izzo, because all of those Big ten teams,
more so than the SEC, appear a little bit flawed.
Made me most notably Maryland, that has an elite starting
five but doesn't offer that much in the way of depth.
Speaker 3 (01:04:18):
All right, two things. One I've yelled in the Sweet sixteen.
I also like liberty to win a game, so watch
out for that, Todd. Also, Todd, I know you could
do this in the NFL. You could do it in
college football. Can I bet the Dodgers to go one
sixty two and all to go undefeated? Or no?
Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
They won't.
Speaker 3 (01:04:32):
They won't take my.
Speaker 5 (01:04:33):
Money off any anybody, anybody that has worked their sought
as a bookmaker would be more than happy to take
your money, aren't he. I think the better question is
do you think Dodgers return to American soil when they
play their first game state side? If they're even undefeated,
then after two games against the Cubs in Tokyo, what
is there.
Speaker 3 (01:04:48):
Over on their win total? What like one ten or something.
It's got to be something crazy.
Speaker 5 (01:04:52):
No, it's not quite that high, but it is, of
course the biggest win total a in Major League Baseball,
And when you're looking at Dodgers no in history either,
because there have been teams in the past, with some
Yankee teams that have been higher than this. Are the
Dodgers right now widely available sitting at one oh four
and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:05:09):
That's a steal, that's guaranteed.
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
I hope you're yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:05:13):
I'm not sure guaranteed to be the word that I
would use to describe it. But if you're that optimistic,
one oh four and a half widely available out there,
and you know what, Arnie, if you really want to
try and live dangerously, some books offering yes nos on
teams that win one hundred and ten plus games, the
Dodgers check in right around two to one. If you
think they'll need that.
Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
Threshold, you know, Todd, I've heard people say that they're
the best team in baseball history.
Speaker 5 (01:05:34):
Well, we'll find out. That's why they play the games.
And if everything was one on paper, my life would
be a hell of a lot easier. But there is
no doubt when you look at that Dodgers roster from
top to bottom, both from positional players, starting pitching and
in the bullpen, there's no excuse for them not to
go back to back. But weird things tend to happen
in short series when you get into September October.
Speaker 2 (01:05:53):
Good So thanks tot, have a great week, buddy, can't
wait to listen to the pod.
Speaker 5 (01:05:56):
Always a pleasure, gentlemen, enjoy the madness from sixty four
were down to sixteen.
Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
Happy March Todd Furman Bet the Board podcast, check it out,
Get Smart, Get Rich kids?
Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
All right, Steve de Sager is in the house with
what's trending? What's going on?
Speaker 7 (01:06:09):
Steve, didn't the Dodgers have eleven pictures on the injured
list by the end of the drest season. They were
in the World Series and had literally run out of starters.
They had to have Walker Buehler, who's no longer a Dodger,
come in and close or else they would have had
to have an all bullpen game after that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:26):
Well, you know, by the way, speaking about running out
of starters, what the hell's going on with the Mavericks
that they thought maybe four fifth games?
Speaker 4 (01:06:33):
What that?
Speaker 3 (01:06:34):
You can't call people from the G League. I don't
what's going on there?
Speaker 7 (01:06:37):
What's the story here? All I've heard about is the
resting people, not Mavericks.
Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
No, yeah, they may have the four fifth games, because
they don't have enough people.
Speaker 1 (01:06:46):
I'm like, how's that possible?
Speaker 7 (01:06:47):
This is like n discussion that you just had. Because
not selected by the NCAA committee, Indiana, West Virginia, Boise State,
and others. Some schools have declined invites to the years
and did tournament. Indiana on the list, LSU, South Carolina, Rutgers,
Wake Forest, some of them saying about just what you're
talking about roster, You know, we don't want to go.
Speaker 3 (01:07:09):
Thank you.
Speaker 7 (01:07:10):
That's the at least the public excuse. The nit's top
seeds do include Dayton, which would mean they cannot play
at home this week because of the first four games. Dayton, congratulations,
So they just missed the NCAA one.
Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
Another big deal.
Speaker 7 (01:07:27):
Sm u's a one seed in NIT. San Francisco, UC Irvine,
which had a great Big West season as a one
seed NIT. The NAT Final Four is now in Indianapolis,
by the way, not New York City anymore. It'll start
April the first. Auburn is the number one overall seed
for the NCAA Men's basketball Tournament. Duke is also a
one seed, as are Houston and Florida. And you were
(01:07:49):
talking about first round sites for this year, I looked
up for next year. First and second round games will
be in Buffalo and Oklahoma City.
Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
You too, there see Oklahomas City.
Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (01:08:01):
I just told you that last time.
Speaker 8 (01:08:03):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
Now you're talking.
Speaker 7 (01:08:05):
Saint John's going to be opening in Providence, a place
Rick Patino is familiar with.
Speaker 3 (01:08:10):
Just for the well, that's that's gonna be a tough ticket.
I was thinking of going down in the province, absolutely,
but that's gonna be expensive.
Speaker 7 (01:08:16):
That's where Calipari is, That's where Bill self is this
weekend as well. By the way, there is a new
tournament sponsored by Fox that will include teams that did
not qualify for the NCAAs. The College Basketball Crown is
going to have sixteen teams all in Las Vegas one
week only, starting at the end of the month, with
games on FS one and then Fox TV. And since
(01:08:39):
it doesn't start till the end of the month, where
a couple weeks away, they're not announcing the field tonight.
They said sometime early this coming week. That's what they
had said a few days ago. But this new tourney's
field features at least two programs from each of the
Big Ten, Big East, and Big Twelve. Conferences. So there's
a new one, and we still have the CBI Tournament,
(01:08:59):
sixteen teams less than one week total, all of their
games in Daytona Beach, Florida that starts this weekend with
for example, Armony Army opening against Elon.
Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
Oh there you go, March Madness baby.
Speaker 7 (01:09:13):
That you're streaming now. Florida won the SEC Attorney beating Tennessee.
Michigan won the Big Ten Tournament beating Wisconsin. Memphis took
the American Conference, winning over UAB. Memphis will open Friday
in the NCAAs against Colorado State. VCU won the Atlantic
Ten today, beating George Mason. Yale captured the Ivy League
over at Cornell. Iowa State guard Keishawn Gilbert is out
(01:09:35):
for the postseason with a groin injury. The Cyclones are
a three seed. The late NBA game did go to
Oklahoma City, a team with a record of fifty six
and twelve. They won at Milwaukee easily won twenty one
to one oh five. Shay gilgos Alexander thirty one points.
The Lakers Luka Donsich with thirty three points, eleven rebounds,
eight assists. LA beat Phoenix one oh seven ninety six.
(01:09:57):
Lakers were up twenty in the first quarter. Sun's from
three point range today nine for forty one. That's pretty
good orno Minnesota one. It's eighth straight one twenty eight
one oh two over Utah, which is lost nine in
a row. And Cleveland had won sixteen in a row
but lost at home today to Orlando one o eight
to one oh three. Dodger shorts up Mookie Bets will
miss Tuesday's opener in Japan, and missed the Wednesday game
(01:10:20):
against the Cubs as well due to illness. And the
Cincinnati Bengals agreed to extensions with wide receivers Jamar Chase
and t Higgins. And I must mention this tennis story today.
There's a big tournament in southern California every year, the
Indian Wells. It's not a major, but it's not just
a one week tournament. Longer than that a teenager one
at Mira andre Eva upset number one ranked Arena Sabolenka
(01:10:43):
in the final today, and she had beaten the number
two player in the world in the Semis. She's born
in Russia and turns eighteen next month. She earned over
one point one million dollars for winning this championship and
she is now that tournament's youngest champ since Serena Williams
Beckett nineteen ninety nine. How many rubles is that her
(01:11:04):
win loss record?
Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
Rubles out there?
Speaker 7 (01:11:06):
Yeah, her win loss record this season nineteen and three.
That includes five straight wins over top ten opponents Mira Andreeva,
the youngest woman in twenty years to win a tour
event by beating the number one frank player in the
world in the final. Very impressive.
Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
Serena and Venus used to play in that until they
got into a beef out there with something.
Speaker 7 (01:11:25):
Yes, they got booed, Yes, that was this. They got
that constant to not go back for many many years.
Speaker 1 (01:11:32):
Happens. Happens.
Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
Hey, like basketball, Tractor Supply knows that a winning season

I noticed they weren't gonna give me that email because
they didn't want me to be in the tournament in
the contest. Why not, you think, Well, because I don't
know if they said mind late they heard me complaining
about it on the air and they said you better
send them one to shut them up.
Speaker 1 (01:12:40):
Arnie. I think it's a group email.
Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
I think my not in the group. Mine was separate
night pm Central time. Let me see what time mine
was saying, I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
You got everyone got at the same time.
Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
I think there's two different groups to exclude, Arnie, unless
they're afraid you're gonna win it.
Speaker 3 (01:12:57):
Yep, that's what I think it's going on. No, I
don't have a big group text on minds one on one.
Speaker 2 (01:13:02):
Well, I think that's how it looks when I mean,
I see, yeah, see there, you're fine because our boss
man Scott Shapiro, knows how.
Speaker 4 (01:13:09):
To do it.
Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
Or you don't have eight thousand emails like you really
thought you were being left out of this one day.
Speaker 3 (01:13:15):
Yeah I did.
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
I said, they don't want me to be in this one.
They're afraid, so I want to had I went ahead
and did the same thing you did. I filled it
out and I have way too much chalk, so I
think I have all four one seeds in the You
do that every year, though, no guts every year? Well,
I mean there's some guts in the first three rounds,
but I did the thing that you liked it. I
chicken out after the third round. You know, you get
to the sweet sixteen and all of a sudden you're like,
(01:13:37):
I don't want to watch it.
Speaker 3 (01:13:38):
Did you take my picks again in this year? Did
you steal my pigs?
Speaker 2 (01:13:41):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
I did not go with Who did you have? Moving
on to sweet sixteen?
Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:13:45):
Yeah, yeah, I don't have l going to sweet sixteen.
I did not have right like Charles Baby, you gotta
get a right mcnique's no McNee state all right, So
when we come back to the Tirack dot Com studios,
I got tips trick and to Sager coming up here
on Fox Sports Radio, stick around.

(01:14:29):
Saga with the scraps and all the things we've missed
out on what's going on.
Speaker 7 (01:14:32):
Steve, Hello again, And you mentioned you see San Diego,
a team that's going to open the NCAA Tournament against Michigan.
Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
Where did they come from?
Speaker 7 (01:14:39):
You might say, Well, Diego, Yeah, that's good, Lijoa, California.
If you've seen the documentary on how the well the
non Dream Team beat the Dream Team in practice, all
of that was at you see San Diego training for
the nineteen ninety two Olympics. UCSD though has not been
a Division I program until now, and amazingly, this weekend,
(01:15:00):
UCSD both its men's and women's teams made the tournament,
first school ever to have both make the tourney in
the same year when it's their first year of eligibility.
They each won the Big West Tournament finals this weekend,
So congrats. They're one of the four teams headed to
the men's tournament first time.
Speaker 3 (01:15:19):
That's not the same school that Brad Holland used to coaches.
Speaker 7 (01:15:22):
He coached University of San Diego private school.
Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
Okay, gotcha, I gotta mixed up.
Speaker 7 (01:15:26):
You see San Diego of course, state school, cousin of UCLA,
and you see Irvine and the rest.
Speaker 1 (01:15:32):
You see.
Speaker 7 (01:15:33):
Irvine, by the way, just missed the NCAA's had a
good Big West season. It is a top seed in
the NIT, but SIU Edwardsville won its conference.
Speaker 1 (01:15:42):
To let's go.
Speaker 7 (01:15:43):
They are headed to the NCAA's for the first time.
We'll play Houston High Point headed for the first time.
They'll play Purdue. I'll get to them in the moment.
In a moment, and Omaha headed to the NCAA's for
the first time. Saint John's there opening opponent.
Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
Allow me to have an army moment.
Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
Here, Steve, my first ever college basketball game I ever
went to Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville.
Speaker 3 (01:16:06):
Oh, get on here.
Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
Yeah, it's literally ten minutes from where I grew up.
It's right, it's right by Wood River, Illinois. We went
with a family members of two guys on the team,
like they were brothers, and I talked about four other
guys the whole time, like these guys were awesome. My
dad was so mad at me on the drive home.
It was crazy.
Speaker 7 (01:16:26):
So in the second round when they play Gonzaga, do
you have a theory on? Okay, we're moving on in
the Midwest Region. Four seed Perdue, if it can win
its two games this week, would be playing in Indianapolis
for the Sweet sixteen. And they're a four seed, that
would be they would be playing about an hour away
from the school.
Speaker 3 (01:16:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:16:44):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (01:16:44):
Louisville, which is tied for second place in the ACC,
plays in Lexington, Kentucky this week. The Rivals arena less
than eighty miles from campus. First round Louisville against Creighton's
second round maybe against Auburn. Will Auburn be a road
team this weekend? This next weekend, we'll see Michigan State
is in its twenty seventh straight NCAA tournament. Seeded second,
(01:17:07):
It will face America East champion Bryant in its opener
that's late Friday in Cleveland. Saint John's is going to
open in Providence, where Rick Patino coached in the nineteen eighties. Course,
by this time he's coached pretty much everywhere, yet he
has his record sixth different school into the tournament, also
in Providence. You reference this earlier, John Calipari and Arkansas
(01:17:28):
faced Bill self and Kansas Thursday night. The winner likely
plays against Patino and Saint John's in the second round next.
Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
A good group of coaches up here, Yeah, Providence.
Speaker 7 (01:17:38):
And I think you're right. It will drive up the prices.
Speaker 3 (01:17:40):
Oh, it's going to be the most sought after first
round ticket, I imagine, even.
Speaker 7 (01:17:44):
Though not one of them is going to actually attempt
a shot, just for that exactly. Houston could face a
second round matchup against Gonzaga, which is making its twenty
sixth straight trip to the tourney. Zaggs open against Georgia.
Duke's going to open in Raleigh on Friday, just twenty
five miles away from campus, but they earned it even
without their superstar, Cooper Flag and his sprained ankle. Over
(01:18:05):
the weekend they won the ACC Tournament. Duke could be
playing Baylor or Mississippi State there near campus in the
second round next Sunday. The ACC down this year. They
only have three other schools in the NCAA field now.
Duke's a one seed. Houston is, Florida is and so
is Auburn, a team that lost at Duke in December.
But again Auburn the stronger conference schedule end results, North
(01:18:28):
Carolina was the last team in It will face San
Diego State on Tuesday night, and then that winner will
play Friday against Old Miss. The tar Heels are an
eleven seed this year, their worst seeding since that began
in nineteen seventy.
Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
No pushback on them getting in on Twitter is just
it's crazy. It's about as bad as I've ever seen it.
Speaker 7 (01:18:47):
Legitimate pushback Sean Farnham, who used to work here. Yeah,
he thought it was a typo that and then said, well,
this is why we don't need to expand the field.
North Carolina's record, as you've mentioned, against the so called
Quad one opponents, the best of the Country one and twelve. However,
Carolina was eight to zero against the Quad two schools.
(01:19:08):
Oh a question mark. Texas lost fifteen games this year
and still made it in this ties for the most
losses by an at large team to earn a bid. Wow,
Texas against Xavier Wednesday night. That winner will then play Illinois.
So yes, the SEC has a record fourteen of the
sixty eight teams in the NCAA field, Texas is one
(01:19:29):
of them. You know, really have this new point consider?
Oh yeah sure Texas? Yeah sure. Oh and Oklahoma's got
up against Connecticut. You know, Florida if it wins in
the first round would be facing the winner of Oklahoma
Connecticut in Raleigh. Florida won the SEC Attorney today, beating Tennessee.
The Gators in top ten matchups this season five and two.
(01:19:50):
I mentioned it earlier an SEC school, as strong as
the conference was this year, still has not won the
national title in men's hoops since Kentucky in twenty twelve.
It's been a while.
Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
Which is this year from my beloved SEC to Sager
changes this year?
Speaker 7 (01:20:05):
Fan?
Speaker 2 (01:20:05):

Speaker 1 (01:20:57):
The scenes coming out here in just a bit.
Speaker 3 (01:20:59):
What do we take one of our listeners and make
them our board up? How about that? Well, I mean

Speaker 3 (01:21:19):
Coming from Oh, we got a big budget for this show.
Speaker 8 (01:21:22):
You know that?
Speaker 2 (01:21:23):
Well, I mean I know that, but I just I mean,
you're You're kind of the one that's opening up your mouth.
You just got to take a little bit of a
pay cut.
Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
You make so much money.
Speaker 1 (01:21:30):
Well I can't. You're at quarterback as I apologize. Do
you want okay? Question? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:21:36):
Do you want to hear Bubba Cunningham explain how North
Carolina got in? Are you in the mindset where you
just you don't need to hear it?
Speaker 1 (01:21:46):
You don't?
Speaker 2 (01:21:47):
I do.
Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
I do want to hear it, and I also want
to hear it. I'm not going to get into the
women's tournament. But was Don Staley complaining that she was
the number two overall?
Speaker 1 (01:21:55):
I like Don Staley lot, but that's one of the
dumbest things I've ever heard in my life. I mean,
I love I love her. I'll go to the mattresses
for her man, but come on.
Speaker 3 (01:22:06):
But there were two coaches that were complaining about that, one.
Speaker 1 (01:22:08):
Her and Lindsay Gottlieb.
Speaker 2 (01:22:09):
Lindsay Gottlieb, the head coach at USC, was mad that
they were the fourth number one that they got Yukon
in there.
Speaker 3 (01:22:14):
They have a little bit of a beef because they
beat used twice.
Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
Yeah, I think us he has a beef. I think
don Staley really doesn't. But I understand where she's coming from.
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
I don't. It's like, okay, fair enough, but I listen.
Speaker 2 (01:22:28):
I understand that sometimes whenever we go in depth like
this and the women's bracket, people lose their mind. But
I'll say, I think it's cool to see the passion
there right where there's enough people that can I guess
you could say, from an educational perspective, realistically debate this
and not just be throwing it out there. I think
(01:22:48):
that's fun. I think that's good for the women's basketball tournament.
I think it's good for women's basketball in general. Now
here's my man, Bubba cunning Him, my good friend, Bubba Cunningham,
and explaining how you and see.
Speaker 10 (01:23:00):
God in You are the athletic director of the University
of North Carolina in your day job, so it's going
to be a natural question for people who don't know
all those procedures to ask whether North Carolina may have
gotten a little bit of an advantage that their ad
is a chair. So I'm going to invite you to
answer that question and then maybe if Keith could shed
some light on that discussion.
Speaker 6 (01:23:21):
Well, thanks Seth, and obviously I'm going to defer that
to Keith, but all the policies and procedures were followed,
and Keith can address exactly how North Carolina was discussed
because I was not in a room.
Speaker 1 (01:23:34):
For any of that. Yeah, thanks Baba and Seth. I
appreciate the question.
Speaker 4 (01:23:38):
As the vice chair, I managed all the conversations that
we had about North Carolina, and we had quite a few.
Our policies require the ADA of any school to refuse
themselves and actually leave the room for those discussions, and
they're not allowed to participate any vote as well, So
we followed those had lots of discussions about North Carolina.
(01:24:00):
You know, Saturday night, we took our final vote and
we voted in four teams in the field on Saturday night,
and we had a contingency vote and the contingency vote
that was the last team in the field and it
was based on Memphis and UAB.
Speaker 1 (01:24:15):
If Memphis won that game.
Speaker 4 (01:24:17):
Then that was going to free up the spot in
the tournament, and that was going to be North Carolina.
If UAB had won, then Memphis was going to be
in the tournament. UA B would have been in the
tournament in North Carolina would have been the first team out.
Speaker 2 (01:24:31):
So, by the way, that was Keith Gill, the assistant
whatever he just said about passing the buck.
Speaker 1 (01:24:37):
Uh, well, I mean that's what I was gonna ask.
Can you feel better about it now?
Speaker 4 (01:24:41):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:24:41):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
You're right, I could have done without that. It was
passing the buck. Sure, you had to recuse yourself. You
couldn't hear what was going on. That's why you talked
it over when you got back from Chick Foy or
wherever you went for lunch or whatever. I don't know
what was done Sunday are so they didn't go to
I don't know then. I mean, you don't think they
talked these things out. You're crazy if you think that's true.
(01:25:05):
I don't like the way the whole thing's handled. It
just has a bad optic to it. Everybody complaining the experts.
What was it that West Virginia was on one hundred
and eleven mock brackets out of one hundred and eleven
one hundred percent and everybody got it wrong because they
didn't make it. It's just amazing that everybody could have
(01:25:26):
West Virginia in and they lost their best player, the
coach's son, for like what the better part of three months.
Speaker 1 (01:25:36):
I remember.
Speaker 3 (01:25:36):
Matter of fact, he was out the second game that
Arizona played them. Arizona got clabbered by them the first game.
We beat them the second game without the coach's son.
But I just I just thought it was it's just
a bad optic with this guy. And why am I
not on the committee? That's what I want to know.
Why you have to be part of a school. It
should be somebody like me who is an Arizona fan.
(01:25:58):
But you know I don't work for the school. You
know you got you got Yale advancing to the Sweet sixteen, right, Yes,
I do.
Speaker 1 (01:26:05):
What's her head coach's name, Arnie Spaniard, No, I don't.
That's that's why you're not on the committee.
Speaker 2 (01:26:10):
Arnie.
Speaker 1 (01:26:11):
You don't watch basketball enough. Man.
Speaker 2 (01:26:12):
They don't know all the good like they know all
the coaches, They know all the coaches, they know all
the players.
Speaker 1 (01:26:17):
They get and if they don't, they get cheat sheets.
So maybe there's your in right.
Speaker 3 (01:26:20):
Now, trying to forgot con Lisa Rice watches more in
sports than I do.
Speaker 2 (01:26:24):
That was the okay, Well, anyway, that's that's Bubba Cunningham's explanation.
You can bite if you want. If not, you know,
that's that's where we are right now. It's they're in
and nothing you can do about it. I'm not gonna lie.
I was shocked. I was shocked. I didn't I didn't
get to listen to it live. I didn't get to
(01:26:44):
listen to Aaron and Dan Bayer break it down. I
was driving and when I got home and I sat
down and I went back and I watched it.
Speaker 1 (01:26:53):
I'm not gonna lie. It was an oh.
Speaker 2 (01:26:56):
And then knowing Bubba right, knowing that it was on
North Carolina a D it was very uncomfortable, very so.
I don't know that explanation makes you feel better or not,
but I do. I gotta tell you something. I think
the funniest thing ever. It's like you and I if
we're having to explain something and one of us realizes,
if it's me, it's something related to Oklahoma, if it's you,
(01:27:16):
it's something related to Arizona, and you're like, well, I
can't talk about this.
Speaker 1 (01:27:20):
So here's Chris.
Speaker 3 (01:27:20):
I'm like, right right, can you imagine that everybody in
the committee voted for North Carolina even though they were
one and twelve against Quad one teams, that everybody had
the same opinion, we gotta get we gotta get North Carolina.
And that's just so wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:27:35):
What do you make of Eric's submission of the show
tonight on X he rights North Carolina did get a
benefit of a did get the benefit of tough year
long scheduling. Their net ranking was thirty seven, West Virginia
fifty one, Ohio State forty one, in Indiana fifty four.
Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
Is there a big difference between forty one and thirty seven?
I don't think so. What was Ohio State against Quad
one opponents? I believe they were like one in nine.
Speaker 1 (01:28:00):
Could it be Ohio State?
Speaker 3 (01:28:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:28:02):
I think they were better than that.
Speaker 3 (01:28:04):
Okay, so why didn't they get it in West Virginia. Yeah,
there's a little bit of a difference between fifty one
and thirty seven, but West Virginia much better. Quad onn wins.
Speaker 1 (01:28:12):
Ohio State six and eleven versus.
Speaker 3 (01:28:14):
Oh wow, So there you go. They should have bought
be made it.
Speaker 2 (01:28:17):
But they were three and four versus Quad two, so
they have losses to Iowa, Northwestern you know what, Hitsburg.
Speaker 3 (01:28:26):
You know what's really blowney, And what's that is the
games on Sunday. We should just stop having the championship
games on Sunday. It's just a waste of time. They've
already voted. In matter of fact, didn't they have like
most of it done by Saturday night? Sure, well, they
just told you that they took two different votes. Yeah,
but I mean I get their chick flight. Chick flight
on Sunday. It's it's ridiculous to have any games on Sunday.
(01:28:50):
Have it all done by Saturday night. You wake up
Sunday and just just debate the whole thing, and then
you have this selection process at like three in the
afternoon or something.
Speaker 2 (01:29:00):
Well, I know this much. We're coming to you live
from the tyrack dot com studios. Tyrack dot com will
help you get there an unmatched a selection, fast, free shipping,
free ROADHASHERD protection, and over ten thousand are recommended installers.
Tyrac dot com the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 3 (01:29:14):
You know, my ten thousand dollars is at steak. I
picked the Arizona to way far way to the next
to win the championship. If I bet that now I
get fifty eight thousand dollars back.
Speaker 1 (01:29:26):
But I will say this much, You're still alive. You're
still still God still can do it. So here's here's
the question I have.
Speaker 2 (01:29:34):
I you know, I try to be overly creative and
I try to steer clear of like the low hanging
fruit of sports talk radio. But I do kind of
want to go through the bracket? Does that make me
a hack? Can we do that next segment? I mean,
will you embrace my suck and allow us to just
go through the bracket? Doesn't mean you have to cheat
(01:29:55):
off me, doesn't mean well, I guess I should be
cheating off you.
Speaker 3 (01:29:58):
Yeah, you're cheating off me as much.
Speaker 1 (01:30:00):
But would you be okay if we did that internet segment?
Speaker 3 (01:30:03):
Or sorry?
Speaker 1 (01:30:03):
Is that below us?
Speaker 2 (01:30:04):
Nor? You know?
Speaker 3 (01:30:06):
Again, like I said, it's a lot better when I
have a lot of upsets. And how was it seth
Davis to that like every game was an upset? I
got this, Dame, but I got this.
Speaker 1 (01:30:14):
And then he ended up with like four one seeds
in the final four. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:30:19):
The only the only guy on that CBS panel that
didn't have like a one or two seed was Clark
Kellogg and he had Clemson in the final four five seeds.
Speaker 3 (01:30:27):
I felt for that Clark Kellogg commercial. I thought they
were coming back because he was like, all right, we're
gonna do this next bracket and then they like froze up.
I'm like, oh no, what's going on. I can't believe
this is happening right in the middle of the selection thing.
Speaker 2 (01:30:42):
But don't make me start don't make me laugh because
I start coughing. Someone brought kettle corn popcorn in here
now eating it like crazy, Yeah, but it is.
Speaker 3 (01:30:50):
I totally thought that was like real. I didn't and
then they went to the thing. I'm like, oh, it's
always just they got me.
Speaker 2 (01:30:56):
So if we're gonna go ahead and do the bracket
inter next segment, let's hit a couple of other things
on the Roman Numeral rundown. Okay, So I would like
to talk about Roman Numeral six because technically this is
our first show since.
Speaker 1 (01:31:10):
What is it our first show since the start of
the NFL league year. Wasn't that this week?
Speaker 2 (01:31:15):
Or did I dream that this week? So we have
signings everywhere. Round two of signings ended up with Najie
Harris on the Chargers.
Speaker 4 (01:31:25):
Ye.
Speaker 2 (01:31:26):
Cooper Cup is a see wait, we got Raheem Moster
with Raiders with pickup, I thought, yeah, I think they're
going to draft a running back. Still, well, but that's
still a good backup. Joey Bosa is now a member
of the Bills.
Speaker 3 (01:31:42):
It looks like the one year signing for that, that's
a tremendous pickup.
Speaker 1 (01:31:46):
I thought so too. I thought that was a great sign.
Speaker 2 (01:31:49):
Now, when your GM has to come out as soon
as you sign him and say yeah, we got a
plan for his injuries, You're like, well, what are you
doing right now now? We talk about this a lot
on Friday Night on The Plank Show, Arnie. I don't
know if you've heard it, primetime listening time one to
four am, full time.
Speaker 1 (01:32:07):
So I can't you never miss an episode, dude, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (01:32:12):
But the crew and I we were talking a lot
about how I'm kind of I've been sucked into the
Aaron Rodgers saga.
Speaker 1 (01:32:18):
You know, I hear Doug Whaley and all these people,
They're like they're holding them hostage.
Speaker 2 (01:32:22):
He's like, no, you know, I just if you feel
like Aaron Rodgers is holding you hostage, move on to
your next option. I mean, it's just the dumbest thing
I've ever heard in my life. So in your opinion,
you know, I what have you made of this last week?
And do you think Aaron Rodgers is inevitably going to
be a Pittsburgh Steeler or a New York Giant?
Speaker 3 (01:32:41):
Well, just I mean a couple of the signings, Well Aaron, okay,
Aaron Rodgers thing. I don't think too many teams are
wanting him. That's why it's dragging on this song. I
really think people are passive.
Speaker 1 (01:32:53):
Well, he has two he has the Giants and the
Steelers who allegedly won him.
Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
Right, That's that's about it.
Speaker 7 (01:32:59):
Apparently waiting on the Vikings as well.
Speaker 3 (01:33:01):
And yeah, good luck to you. It's not that Rogers
is holding them up. I don't think I think they're
holding Rogers up. He'll go for whoever wants him, and
I think that's the situation going right there. By the way,
I do like Miami's backup quarterback, Chris. I know you
didn't bring that up, but I'm not kidding around. Zach
Wilson signed with the Miami Dolphins. I actually like that,
(01:33:24):
after all the garbage, we've had a backup quarterback just
in case two of goes down. I feel a little
bit better with him as our backup out there.
Speaker 1 (01:33:34):
What are you being serious right now?
Speaker 3 (01:33:36):
Iam being serious?
Speaker 1 (01:33:38):
So you feel better with Zach Wilson as your backup?
Speaker 3 (01:33:41):
Yeah, than I do with Snoop or whoever?
Speaker 2 (01:33:43):
That was why.
Speaker 3 (01:33:45):
I just think he's a better show. No, I can't
show you my work. I cheated up the guy next
to me, but I watch it and know the thing.
I actually think he's a better quarterback. I can't show
you my work because there's no.
Speaker 4 (01:33:56):
With you.
Speaker 3 (01:33:57):
Yeah, the same thing with Daniel Joe. I think the
Colts had a grade signing one year for Daniel Gaims.
Speaker 1 (01:34:04):
And everyone hates him too. I'll say this much. I'll
say this much.
Speaker 2 (01:34:08):
I personally am a big time believer in giving quarterbacks
second chances and sometimes, in the case of guys like Baker,
Sam Darnold, yep, Geno Smith, third or fourth chances.
Speaker 1 (01:34:22):
Arnie, have you listen.
Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
I'm so I've been deep needy in the Gino Smith
mess because I think he's awesome. Now, have you really
looked at his career? I mean, have you taken time
to just look at his season by season? No, dude
like disappeared from the league for like six years as
a backup.
Speaker 1 (01:34:40):
I mean just no. I think it was with the
Chargers for a season. Do you remember that? No, No
one does.
Speaker 2 (01:34:47):
So I'm not ready to give up on anyone, which
is why I keep selling people. Don't give up on
Derek Carr New Orleans if he stays there. Don't give
up on Daniel Jones.
Speaker 4 (01:34:56):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:34:56):
People are talking him up potentially in Indy because we've
seen what Amazon, We've seen what Baker has done, go back,
we saw it Rich Cannon did, Look what Gino Smith did.
If you got some talent, I think, if you get
the right coach, and I think Mike McDaniel's a really
good quarterback coach.
Speaker 1 (01:35:13):
I think he got a chance to unlock something. So
you know what, I agree with you. Yeah, I like it.
Speaker 3 (01:35:19):
Well, it's better than what we've had. It's gone to
the point where I was like, well we're we are
medically lost every time Tua was not playing. So I
was like, just feel a little bit better that we
have Zach Wilson back.
Speaker 2 (01:35:31):
There By the way, Ian Roddy, will you please make
sure we mark the tape since I mean, as curious
can tell you, we roll tape on everything and on
the reel to reel, get the little razor blade and
get the tape to tape together so we can remember
this moment whenever Arnie said he loved the idea of
Zach Wilson. So in week three when Zach Wilson is
in the game and he sucks that, Arnie's ready to
(01:35:52):
fire him, and I just want to make sure we'll
be able to Yeah, I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (01:35:56):
If he's in week three, there's something seriously that has
gone wrong with Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (01:36:00):

Speaker 3 (01:37:45):
I had to print like about four different versions. Why well,
one that came out too small, the other one was
too big, and a multo printed like half, and then
I always have to go to like the New York
Post one that seems to be semi okay. I still
have to squint in some of the the small riding.
But that's the best thing.
Speaker 2 (01:38:03):
It's it's old age, all right. Let's start the upper
left hand corner. I believe it's called the Atlanta Region Arnie, Yes,
South Region, South Atlanta to twenty two, twenty one, whatever
it takes. I've got Auburn and Louisville in my first
second round matchup.
Speaker 1 (01:38:20):
That's who I have.
Speaker 3 (01:38:21):
Two gonna be a good matchup. That's gonna be a
good game in Lexington. So obviously the crowd is gonna
be behind Louisville Auburn still though, I have him advancing,
But that's gonna be a great second round matchup.
Speaker 1 (01:38:33):
All right, who do you have on the bottom part
of that?
Speaker 3 (01:38:35):
I have Michigan. Excuse me, UCSD going up against Yale.
So those are two of my seven upsets in the
first round, with Yale winning going to the sweet sixteen.
Speaker 2 (01:38:44):
I've got cal San Diego as well. I have no
idea why, you know, I always give you a crap.
I'm like, who's their head coach. I was sitting here
during the break and I'm like, I don't even know
who the UC Sandy.
Speaker 3 (01:38:55):
I came up with Brad Howean, but that was University
of San Diego, so a good point. Some points for that.
Speaker 2 (01:39:00):
I think it's Eric Olan if you were just wondering.
And I've got them moving on to play Texas a andum.
Texas Atum is really good. Okay, don't sleep on Buzz
William's crew. And I've got Auburn versus U see Sandy
a coach, So I'm kind of like you. I don't
have necessarily a massive amount of upsets, but I really
like the thirteen seed there, all right, the bottom bottom
(01:39:21):
part of that South bracket.
Speaker 1 (01:39:23):
Who do you have?
Speaker 3 (01:39:25):
H North Carolina have beating San Diego State by the
way in the playing game, and then beating Old Miss,
even though Ole Miss is a good team. Good so
I do have a North Carolina winning a couple of games.
I am on the Iowa State bandwagon. I would have
had them gone a little bit further, but I have
them mosing to Michigan State. But I have North Carolina
and Iowa State coming out of that the first two games.
Speaker 2 (01:39:46):
So you're not worried at all about Kashawn Gilbert missing.
Speaker 3 (01:39:51):
I know it's it's gonna be tough, and then maybe
you want to go ahead and take Lipscomb, but Lipscomb's
still a fourteen point FAI underdog in that one.
Speaker 2 (01:39:58):
Is it not?
Speaker 4 (01:39:58):
Or what?
Speaker 2 (01:39:59):
No, it's so let's just finish out, finish out the South. Okay,
I've got Ole miss playing Iowa State as well. Who
do you have in the bottom part of the bracket.
I got Mexico and Michigan State. Great matchup with Marquette
in New Mexico. One of the better first round matchups.
Second three of the tournament. I have New Mexico. I
know Marquette has been playing some good bat some great basketball.
(01:40:21):
As a matter of fact, I picked them to win
their conference tournament.
Speaker 3 (01:40:23):
They fell short they started off, so that's a great
first round matchup. I don't know the line in front
of me on that one.
Speaker 1 (01:40:29):
But which one is it?
Speaker 3 (01:40:30):
New Mexico and Marquette. I actually think that New Mexico
may be favorite, and that I could be wrong, but
that's that's a great Marquette minus four. Oh, that's a
good one.
Speaker 6 (01:40:42):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (01:40:42):
Yep, yep uh. And so then I got Old Michigan State.
Speaker 3 (01:40:47):
Yeah. By the way, Brian is a good team. Don't
sleep on them. Not that they'll pull off the episode,
it could be a good you know.
Speaker 1 (01:40:54):
Teams.
Speaker 3 (01:40:55):
Yeah, the America East. I've seen them before. They're not
a bad team, seriously, so watch for them. But I
got Michigan State going ahead and winning that one. That
I got Florida, and you know I took you Kono
over Oklahoma just because.
Speaker 2 (01:41:08):
Old stop for a second time. Who do you have
in your regional final? Michigan State and Auburn.
Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
Michigan State and Iowa State in the Auburn and Michigan State.
Speaker 1 (01:41:20):
Okay, good, okay, let's move on down to the bottom
part of the bracket. Go go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:41:24):
This would be San Francisco or the what is this
the Midwest? The West, the West West. Sorry, Florida's too strong,
there's not going to be an upset there. I do
have Connecticut being your Oklahoma team, but that's a that's
a good, good first rob matchup.
Speaker 3 (01:41:37):
Connecticut, I think is a four point favorite in that one.
Did you know that Colorado State's a two and a
f point favorite. They're good over Memphis.
Speaker 2 (01:41:45):
They should be. They're good. They're gonna beat Memphis. I've
got Colorado State beat Memphis.
Speaker 3 (01:41:50):
That's and Maryland Grand Canyon. You know, before the pairings
came out, I was gonna say I'm going deep with Maryland.
Good teams, strong team, like everything about him. Don't like
that first round matchup against Grand Canyon either, But I
did take Maryland in that one. But that's a great
(01:42:11):
first round matchup Maryland Grant Canyon, and also Memphis and
Colorado State.
Speaker 2 (01:42:17):
All right, so I have Oklahoma moving on to play
Maryland in that Sweet sixteen. Who do you have on
the bottom part? Florida and Maryland. I jumped on the
Bodom part. I jumped on Drake like everybody else too.
I've been watching them for a while now, good for years.
Speaker 3 (01:42:31):
Buddy of mine used to be their play by play
guy before he passed away. Love Texas Tech. I mean,
I've seen them in the Big Twelve A bunch, good team,
really good team. I think they can go far. I
like Arkansas over Kansas. I have no confidence in Kansas whatsoever.
And I'm on the Saint John's bandwagon.
Speaker 1 (01:42:53):
I like JT Topping a lot. He's in Texas Tech standout.
I think he was named both the player and Newcomer
of the Year. Is that right? From the Big Twelve?
Not too shabby?
Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
But you want to mention play But that's my guy,
Jeff Hackson to play by play voice at Tech. So
I've got Tech moving on to play Saint John's.
Speaker 1 (01:43:12):
Yes, I have that too.
Speaker 3 (01:43:13):
Yeah, you filed out to me obviously, right.
Speaker 2 (01:43:15):
I do have Kansas beating Arkansas. I just I don't
feel good about that around game. So the regional final,
I've got Florida Saint John's.
Speaker 1 (01:43:24):
Is that what you have?
Speaker 3 (01:43:24):
I have Florida Saint John's also, obviously you copied.
Speaker 4 (01:43:27):
Me on that.
Speaker 2 (01:43:28):
So what's so that on the left side of the bracket?
Do we both have Auburn and Florida? In the final four?
Speaker 1 (01:43:34):
You got Michigan State, don't you.
Speaker 3 (01:43:36):
I have Michigan State and Saint John's.
Speaker 1 (01:43:38):
There you go. I've got Auburn in Florida. So let's
get to say when.
Speaker 3 (01:43:42):
That's when you make the that's shift and you end
up winning, just start cheating up, is what you're doing.
Speaker 2 (01:43:49):
All Right, We'll get the saga in here to get
an update, and then we'll get the right side of
the bracket and we'll finish off. We got Newark, we
got so that would be what the East and Midwest
to get to. But first, Steven Sager's in the house
with what's trending, and.
Speaker 7 (01:44:00):
You mentioned Colorado State basketball, which won the Mountain West.
They had started the season five and five. Since then
twenty and four, wow, and a lot of blowout wins
in recent weeks, including twice getting wins over Boise State.
It's the reason that Boise State is not going to
the NCAA Tournament. They were one of the clubs that
just missed it, like Indiana and West Virginia. But North
(01:44:22):
Carolina's in. They were the last team in. They'll face
San Diego State on Tuesday nights. That winner will then
play Friday against Old Miss. Texas is in despite fifteen losses.
Texas versus Xavier Wednesday night in a play in. That
winner will then play Illinois Auburn is ranked number one overall,
top overall seed that is in the NCAA Men's basketball Tournament,
(01:44:43):
even though yes, they were ranked number one for much
of the season, but they have lost three of their
last four games. Duke is also a one seed, as
are Houston and Florida. Florida Gators won the SEC tournament
beating Tennessee eighty six to seventy seven. Michigan won the
Big Ten today, beating Wisconsin fifty nine fifty three. Michigan
opens late Thursday against UC San Diego, which made the
(01:45:05):
tournament in its first year eligible conference tournament wins for Memphis,
VCU and Yale today. The women's number one seeds are
ucla top overall seed, which slaughtered South Carolina this year.
By the way, USC is a one seed South Carolina
Texas as well. Stanford did not make it, which ended
the cardinals thirty six year streak of playing in the
(01:45:26):
NCAA Women's Tournament, but Tennessee still in continued its tournament run.
They've appeared every year in the field since the first
NCAA tournament for women in nineteen eighty two. Vols excuse me,
Lady Vols or A five seed and the way it
works for the women's tournament. By the way, the top
sixteen seeds host first and second round games, and then
(01:45:47):
the regionals that are played at only two neutral sites.
You're either going to Spokane or you're going to Birmingham.
Third straight year they've had that format. In the NBA
late Game, Oklahoma City won again thirty one points for
Shay Gilgis. Alexander victory at Milwaukee, and it was not difficult,
one twenty one to one oh five the final. Clippers
and Lakers each one. Portland ended a five game losing streak.
(01:46:10):
Orlando ended Cleveland's sixteen game winning streak today one eight,
one oh three. Cleveland's record now a mere fifty six
and eleven. They were up thirteen at the half. Donovan
Mitchell of the Cats from three point range three for
fourteen today in the l in Minnesota won its eighth
straight game, got forty one points from Anthony Edwards in
a blowout of Utah one twenty eight to one oh two.
(01:46:31):
The Utah Jazz have lost nine in a row. They're
fifteen and fifty three this year. Oh an elegance by
the way, Charlotte with the loss and a bad one
at the Clippers tonight. Charlotte is seventeen and fifty. They
lost one twenty three to eighty eight against the Clips.
NHL overtime wins for Winnipeg and Colorado. Dodgers shortstop Mookie
(01:46:51):
Betts will miss the Tuesday and Wednesday opening games in
Japan against the Cubs due to illness. He missed both
exhibitions there this weekend. White Sox lugger Joey Gallo was released.
He says he'll now try pitching. Oh his career batting
average was one ninety four, despite over two hundred home
runs in his tenures.
Speaker 1 (01:47:10):
Doesn't that sound like something Arnie would do? If yes?
Like a great hitter? All He's like, I can.
Speaker 7 (01:47:15):
Pitch or say yes. Braves pitcher Spencer Strider will make
his spring debut on Monday. He had Tommy John surgery
a year ago. Yankees pitcher Clark Schmidt was scratched from
his Monday spring start due to a sore shoulder. The
Cincinnati Bengals agreed to extensions with wide receivers Jamar Chase
and t Higgins. The Raven sign backup quarterback Cooper Rush
from Dallas. NASCAR win at Vegas for Josh Barry and
(01:47:37):
in golf, we're going to have a playoff in the
morning and the winner gets the first prize of four
point five million dollars. And the way they do it
at the players you see play was suspended due to
darkness today. It's a three hole playoff aggregate score tomorrow,
it's not just one hole. Ry McElroy against jj Spawn.
There was a four hour weather delay today and then
(01:47:59):
McElroy blew a three shot lead Saturday. He shot seventy
three and fell to a tie for fifth. So he
battled back early in the final round and shall we say,
gagged it later but still a chance to win it all.
And the PGA Tours in Florida for four straight events,
including this coming week. But I mentioned it on the
show earlier. A great story for a guy named Danny Walker,
(01:48:19):
a golfer who lives in the area in Florida, and
showed up Thursday morning because he was first alternate on
the list in case anybody withdrew, and he got a
call seven am on Thursday, Jason Day's sixth he's withdrawing,
You're in, And literally an hour and a half later
he's on the course and he wound up right on
(01:48:40):
the number making the cut.
Speaker 1 (01:48:42):
Wow.
Speaker 7 (01:48:43):
And he finished tied for sixth. And he earned eight
hundred and forty four thousand dollars for four days of
golf in a tournament he did not know he was
going to be playing until Thursday morning.
Speaker 1 (01:48:57):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:48:58):
Back to you, right, thanks Steve, great week. Buddy always
appreciates you. It's already in playing, coming to you a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:49:03):
And they teams on these tournaments were the number one
golfer in the world with the worst golfer in the world.
And I have teams like that.
Speaker 1 (01:49:11):
You know, Hey, don't forget.
Speaker 2 (01:49:12):
You can stream this show ID with You can stream
this show and all of our Fox Sports Radio shows
live twenty four to seven and the new and improved
iHeartRadio app. Just search Fox Sports Radio in the app
store and stream us live. And one of the cool
new features is the preset. Like on your radio dial,
you can preset Fox Sports Radio. In fact, full disclosure,
it's the only preset I have. I put it on
(01:49:33):
all of them. So set Fox Sports Radio on your
preset and the iHeart Radio app and it will always
pop up at the top of your screen. All right,
I know this is kind of imploding your pick, so
I do apologize. Yeah, but over in the in the
Duke Regional, I guess you would say Newark and the
East Regional. Any surprises here. I've got one team I
(01:49:53):
kind of like to pull off an upset.
Speaker 3 (01:49:56):
Akron Akron Dog do that to me. Actually, we're gonna
just by the way.
Speaker 1 (01:50:04):
I really like VCU in the bottom part of that bracket.
Speaker 3 (01:50:07):
This is pretty much gonna go all chalk except for
one team. I've got Liberty beating Oregon and then losing
to Arizona. But other than that, I got all the
lower seeds or wow, the favorites going in advancing. I
do like BYU not only beating VCU, but then beating
Wisconsin and even putting up a good fight against Alabama.
(01:50:27):
I'm on the BYU bandwagon. They were playing really good
basketball in their last like ten to fifteen games, so
watch out for them. And then, of course Alabama is
just so strong. I want to see how far Satan
Mary's can go big game against Vanderbilt in that first game,
and how they're gonna play Alabama in that second round matchup.
So some decent matchups in this one.
Speaker 2 (01:50:49):
Yeah, and I think again, as somebody who has lived
the SEC life this year, seeing fourteen teams in, it's
like I'm in Nashville Vandy fans. I'm gonna say this
with peace ed love. I kind of think Vanderbilt sucks.
But when I see them there as a ten seed,
they're playing a seven Saint Mary's. I watched Saint Mary's
the other night. I kind of think they suck. So honestly,
(01:51:12):
I don't know what to do. It's like my SEC
homersm came out in that one.
Speaker 1 (01:51:16):
That one.
Speaker 3 (01:51:17):
I think it's like two or something like that.
Speaker 1 (01:51:19):
Let's see which one.
Speaker 3 (01:51:20):
Is this the Saint Mary's Vanderbilt game?
Speaker 2 (01:51:23):
All right, Saint Mary's. Vanderbilt right now has a hold
on They don't. You're telling me they don't spell Saint
Mary's like everybody else does. Minus four four point favorite
for Saint Mary's. Oh wow, I'm surprised by that too.
That doesn't seem like it's right. But I'll just say
to not to not belabor the point. I've got Duke
(01:51:43):
in Alabama playing in the Elite eight.
Speaker 3 (01:51:46):
I too.
Speaker 2 (01:51:46):
I got them also, anything shocking in the bottom part
in the bracket for you, this would be considered the
what Indianapolis is at the south or is that the
Midwest middlew is.
Speaker 3 (01:51:56):
The Midwestern Indianapolis. I do think the playing game of
Texas Avier is going to.
Speaker 1 (01:52:00):
Be all good.
Speaker 3 (01:52:02):
I think the Utah State Ucla game is going to
be better than people think. I got Utah State with
the upset, though I do like Ucla, and you know,
I'm on McNee to not only beat Clemson, but to
beat Perdue and to put up a good fight against Houston.
There is a good chance that High Point beats Perdue.
But I went with the boiler Makers, who I thought
had a pretty good year this year.
Speaker 2 (01:52:23):
You know what. I like the boiler Makers a lot.
But is it weird that for some reason I kind
of don't trust him in March.
Speaker 3 (01:52:30):
No, I don't blame you at all, zero except I
mean Zach Eaty three years ago before he went to
the NBA, they lost in the first round and then
they went to the finals. Right, So it's yep FeAs
So I have.
Speaker 2 (01:52:42):
One problem here, Arnie, and I do have Houston and
Tennessee playing in the Elite eight. I opened my mouth
a couple of weeks ago and said, that's why I
have to fall in love with Illinois.
Speaker 3 (01:52:52):
I like Illinois too, but I have moves to Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (01:52:54):
Okay, Well, then I guess I can't come to you
for help because I've been trying to talk my self
out of this and I can't because Illinois is one
of those teams where if they get hot, look out.
And I don't know if they're playing very good defensive
teams in this Kentucky's not a very good offensive team.
Texas or Zavier not necessarily a good offensive team. But
(01:53:15):
when you get to the sweet sixteen or I guess
in that point it would. Yeah, sweet sixteen, you got
a couple pretty good defensive teams there.
Speaker 3 (01:53:21):
So too if they make it best in the seat,
yeah they do.
Speaker 1 (01:53:24):
All right, there you go. There is our picks, and
of course you can find them very soon.
Speaker 3 (01:53:29):
What do you have winning the whole thing, mister, Well,
I've got Florida, Florida.
Speaker 2 (01:53:36):
I think whoever wins the Florida Oklahoma second round game
is gonna win the national champ.
Speaker 3 (01:53:40):
Who was the first number one seed to lose?
Speaker 2 (01:53:43):
Well, looking at my bracket, seeing that I have one, two, three,
four number one seeds, I got a little work to
do to help you out on that one, Arnty, because
I think it would be Auburn in the final flour
against Florida so much.
Speaker 3 (01:53:54):
Maybe you beat maybe Houston.
Speaker 2 (01:53:57):
You know, the only reason Houston lost last year is
because one of their guys got hurt. I know, So
can the gods tell me who's gonna get hurt in
this final fours so I.
Speaker 1 (01:54:07):
Can figure it out? All right?
Speaker 2 (01:54:08):
Well, my picks don't matter, right, even though I won
the Bracket challenge last year, which is brought to you
by my good friends, the people that I frequent out
of tractor supply. Even though I won it last year, Yeah,
did not get anything. Did not get anything. Arnie's picks
will come up next, so you can feel like you're
on the right path towards winning your bracket challenge. To
(01:54:29):
wrap up the Plank the Arnie and Plank Show here

and review the podcast. Rate it five stars, say something
nice about the stinking genius Again. Just search Fox Sports
Radio wherever you get your podcasting. You'll see today's show
posted right after we wrap up. All right, are you ready?
Speaker 3 (01:55:29):
I'm ready. I'm gonna give you a little bit of everything.
My set's my final four championship Tuesdays and Wednesday's game
against the spread.
Speaker 1 (01:55:38):
Sounds like, hey, get away genius.
Speaker 3 (01:55:41):
All right, gay, if you have a little music, put
me in the mood there, because I'll give you my
upsets right off the bat. You see San Diego, A
twelve and a five. They'll be in Michigan, so that'll
be one of the first upsotes. I like Yale over
old miss that's my second upset, and Yale going to
the Sweet sixteen. I got North Carolina not only beating
San Diego State but beating Ole miss so a couple
(01:56:02):
wins there, and then they got Drake beating Missouri, though
that's not really a big big upset. Three more, I
got Liberty over Oregon, so that's gonna be a good one,
McNee over Clemson, and Utah State over UCLA. My final four,
I have Michigan State, Saint John's Duke in Houston. With
Michigan State and Duke in the finals, I got Duke
(01:56:24):
winning the whole thing. Now for going against the spread,
let's do the play in games Tuesday, Saint Francis taken
on Alabama State. Like Saint Francis plus the three and
a half points against Alabama State, and like I said,
give me North Carolina minus three and a half points
against San Diego State. Two games on Wednesday, I'm gonna
(01:56:47):
take Mount Saint Mary's plus two and a half against
American and give me Texas plus two and a half
against Xavier. So they oh one more, My Dodgers, Chris,
my Dodgers, Sure, oh my gosh, get two wins and
start the season two and oh, so there you have
(01:57:09):
my picks two of them as you please. No longer
strictly for entertainment purposes only.
Speaker 2 (01:57:13):
I'm not gonna lie whenever, the saga said in this
update Tuesday games, I was a little shook.
Speaker 1 (01:57:21):
It's like, I'm not ready for baseball.
Speaker 3 (01:57:23):
You're not gonna watch it. It's what is it three
in the morning, Six in the morning for me, six
fifteen in the morning.
Speaker 1 (01:57:31):
I'll be up. That's week.
Speaker 3 (01:57:32):
So that's what that's five fifteen for you?
Speaker 4 (01:57:35):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:57:36):
I wake up at five thirty every day?
Speaker 3 (01:57:38):
So are you one hour behind East Coast iron?
Speaker 1 (01:57:40):
That's right, I'm central. I'm in God's time zone. I'm
gonna get up at.
Speaker 3 (01:57:44):
Five point fifteen to watch the Dodger.
Speaker 1 (01:57:46):
I wake up. Let's let's go ahead and make sure
we make some delineations here.
Speaker 2 (01:57:51):
My alarm goes off at five thirty every day, so yeah,
I might snooze it a little bit to try to
sound I don't know. I saw something on a on
Instagram reel. It's like, sets your alarm every day for
five point thirty and get up, So I don't know.
It's like I do stupid stuff on I'm very very
much a follower. You know, you put something on Instagram.
I'm probably gonna do it. Like my golf swing. I've
(01:58:13):
changed it like ten times in the last time.
Speaker 3 (01:58:16):
That's that's true. You know, my wife will wake me
up and I'll go back to bed till like eight o'clock.
Or well, it's good for you, Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:58:24):
Then proud of you.
Speaker 2 (01:58:25):
So did I do anything to generate any more interest
for you in March madness?
Speaker 6 (01:58:30):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:58:30):
I think it's a meat problem. Hopefully it picks up
once the tournament starts, and maybe there is gonna be
a lot of upsets. Maybe I'm completely wrong, and we'll
see some of the double digit underdogs pull up some wins,
or a thirteen fourteen or fifteen seet pull up some wins.
So I mean, well that turns out.
Speaker 2 (01:58:49):
So you're not you're not trying to tell me that whenever,
like you're you're sitting around on even Tuesday, right the
playing games have kind of started their own little thing.
But I mean, come on, Arnie, you you're a diehard
college basketball fan. So when you're sitting around even when
it's a playing game on Tuesday night and you here
(01:59:13):
trying to tell me you're not gonna get fired up.
Speaker 3 (01:59:14):
And get fired off by And you know what's so
funny is my wife is out of town this week.
Oh my gosh, she's going down to Boston, so I
could just sit around and be fat and do nothing. Off.
Speaker 1 (01:59:26):
The driveway is going to be covered in snow, No
is gone.
Speaker 3 (01:59:31):
It's like fifty degrees. I'm sitting around and in shorts
of the T shirt.
Speaker 1 (01:59:38):
Let's go sure, I think that might be more concerning.
Speaker 3 (01:59:41):
She went to Costco. I got a week a week
stift to meet lif I'm ready to go.
Speaker 2 (01:59:46):
I like the idea that Ian immediately knows that your
wife being out of town means that your driveway will
not be shovel. Oh yeah, she's the man of the house.
I think that's my favorite part of all of this.
All right, Hey, Ian, great job tonight, Chiris. Great to
hear your voice all night long. Appreciate you being flexible
to come in. Ben Malar is coming up next thanks
(02:00:06):
to a sega for Arnie Spaniel on Chris Plank. We'll
see you guys here next Sunday night on Fox Sports Radio.
