Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio Home.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Snap is back.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Cannob looks to the near side, throwing in the back
of the near side, ends one corner co Comet touchdown Bears.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
I'm Darnell Savage and.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Gets his second touchdown catch today. It's a two yarder
and the Bears have opened up a thirteen to three
lead on Jacksonville. That's the Bears Radio network.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Bears take care of business in London against the Jaguars.
Thirty five is sixteen and this is a red zone radio.
We are broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Tire rack dot Com. We're gonna help get you there
an unmatched selection, fastree shipping, free road assid protection, over
ten thousand recommending installers. Tire rack dot com the way

(00:45):
tire buying should be. We have six games kicking off
right now. Cardinals at the Packers, Colts at the Titans,
Texans at the Patriots, Buccaneers at the Saints, Browns at
the Eagles, Commanders at the Ravens, and Rich already in
the books. The big win for the Bears today four
touchdown passes for Caleb Williams. And you know I was

(01:06):
listening to the guys this morning and countdown to kickoff
had the best line when they said, expect Doug Peterson
to fly back commercial from London after another debacle for
the Jacksonville Jaguars. It only gets worse for him. But
the good news for the Bears is Caleb Williams looks
better every single week.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Yeah, London a little bit of a house of horrors
for two coaches on the hot seat in consecutive weeks.
When the Jets got home from London, they immediately fired
Robert Sala will the Jacksonville Jaguars do the same thing
with Doug Peterson, because I remind you it was Shot Com,
the owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who was bragging about
the quote unquote best roster in Jacksonville Jaguars history to

(01:49):
start this season. And so when you start looking at accountability,
you know, you just paid your quarterback. You're not firing
your quarterback. You know, you look around this roster, you
got good players. So who do you place the most
blame on for less than fortuitous start? You start looking
at the head coach, So Doug Peterson, all of a sudden,

(02:09):
the seat gets ratcheted up another couple of notches in
terms of temperature.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
No question about that. It is another busy, busy week
in the NFL. And this has been craziness already in
this league so far this year. I mean, when you
have a Josh Allen have a nine for thirty passing day,
which doesn't even seem possible in this day and age,
where you know, quarterbacks regularly complete sixty sixty five percent
of their passes to have that kind of day. We've

(02:35):
been talking about this rich We've seen a bit of
a change in offenses around the NFL where suddenly we're
seeing a little more of a running game these days,
and the defenses seem to have figured out, at least
temporarily some of the offensive schemes that we've seen that
have exploded. I mean, we go back to Patrick mahomes
last ten regular season games, twelve touchdowns, eleven picks. The

(02:59):
thing for him is he still knows how to win games.
And that's the difference why Patrick Mahomes is still on
an undefeated team sitting on top of the mount. But
it's those days, right, you know what you see quarterbacks
throwing fifty touchdown passes five thousand yards passing. I think
we're in a little bit of a lull right now,
so I have to adjust our eyeballs because we're seeing
a much different NFL than we saw just two or

(03:22):
three years ago.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
Yeah, we'll talk about the Bills, I'm sure plenty today,
But yeah, when it comes to overall what we've seen
offensively from a lot of quarterbacks, a lot of offenses
around the league, there have been changes. It does feel
like the defenses are catching up. I think one of
the biggest reasons why it seems so different is because
all of a sudden, all of these Hall of Fame

(03:43):
quarterbacks that we're sort of loitering around offenses for about
a decade and a half to two decades are gone.
There's no Brady, there's no Rivers, there's no Roethlisberger, there's
no Manning. There's no Manning, you know. Ye Eli may
also end up being a high or excuse me, Heisman
in the Hall of Fame one day. There's no Drew Brees,

(04:05):
you know what I'm saying. So all of a sudden,
you have about six to ten Hall of famers.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Who we got used to seeing out there.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Every single Philip Rivers, who's you know a maybe Hall
of Famer, probably not, but you know, Matt Ryan, like,
there were so many passers who you could lean on
as starters during their times, and that has kind of
gone away. We've very much so shifted to much simpler
offenses as a results of quarterbacks immediately playing in the

(04:34):
NFL getting very little weight time before they have to
man the roster and be the leader of the team.
And then also a lot of these college offenses are
pretty simple and they have to dumb down the whole
system at the NFL level to get it to work.
And defenses are starting to catch up.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
All right.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
A couple of things right off the bat. The Eagles
a three and out on their opening drive. They are
hosting the Browns. You tell you about a coach in trouble,
and Nick Sirianni loses at home today to the Browns.
He could in serious trouble against a Browns team that
because they're paying their quarterback a whole lot of money,
they're just continuing to throw to Shaun Watson out there
as bad as he has been. Meanwhile, right now, the

(05:13):
Texans were in a great position on their opening drive
against the Patriots. However, penalty has moved them back, so
we're keeping an eye on their opening drive. And I
want to talk about what happened with the Jets this
week and the firing of Robert Salah and obviously Hacka
being demoted. I like, he'll keep his title as offensive coordinator,

(05:33):
but his duties will change. In other words, he has
literally nothing to do because he will not be calling
places for the Jets. But you know, Rich I've been
saying this. You guys have been fighting back on me.
I know what my eyeballs tell me. The Aaron Rodgers
that we last saw at the peak of his career
when he won his second of two consecutive MVP Awards
in twenty twenty one does not exist anymore. I mean,

(05:56):
I understand that the running game has been not good,
the play calling has been bad. Maybe the receivers are
dropping balls, but Aaron Rodgers is making throws that I
did not see when he was an MVP Hall of
Fame quarterback. To me, as he approaches his forty first
birthday in a couple of months, that Aaron Rodgers is
gone forever. So you know, the Jets can make all

(06:20):
these changes. They can fire their head coach. Salah is
a terrible coach to begin with, but fine, you fire him,
but keep in mind this. Only one team has made
a change at coach and gotten into the postseason, and
that was the Raiders with Bascatcha a couple of years ago.
And of course Gruden wasn't fired. He resigned under under
saying no team has won their division making a coaching

(06:43):
change during the season. So the idea that this change
is going to ignite the Jets, to me, is fantasyland.
It doesn't bear any fruit. And the problem is is
that they have a quarterback who's going to be destined
for a first ballot Hall of Fame status who is
no longer that quarterback.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Well, let's slow down on a lot of this, because
I'm not as hyperbolic as you are. Typically there are
times where we agree, but I think it's either times
where you tame some of your knee jerk, slapstick reactions
to some of these things, and there are times where
maybe I'm a little bit over my skis on certain things,
and that's where we tend to meet in the middle.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
With the Jets.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
We're not going to meet in the middle here because
I really think we need to let this Bake. The
Jets have been like incredibly undisciplined. They have almost as
many penalties as they do have points in the first
quarter of games. They're slow starters, so they have fourteen
points in the first quarter through five weeks of the
season entering this game against the Bills, and they have

(07:46):
thirteen penalties in the first quarter. They shoot themselves in
the foot. Also, you mentioned it Robert Sala great defensive coordinator,
not a good head coach, and that was proven during
his short stint as a head coach with the Jets.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
And I'm not even saying that it'll always be that way.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Maybe it looks better a second time around for Roberts
all elsewhere. This was not the situation. It wasn't the time.
These weren't the players, whatever the situation. And by the way,
Nathaniel Hackett now I think the jury's out on so
he's been replaced as a play caller by Todd Downing,
who is going to try to get this thing kicked
in the right direction. And to your point about winning

(08:24):
the division, the Jets were never gonna win the division,
you know, I mean on paper, they weren't.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
When you looked at it.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
The Bills and the Dolphins both on paper, seemed like
better teams with them than they were.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
And that's a lot to contend with.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
Maybe a wildcard team, right maybe they could sneak in
with the double digit season if they get that many wins.
You look at Aaron Rodgers. Yes, the early returns have
been poor, but now I'm not willing to say he's done.
I'm not willing to say it's over. I'm gonna let
this bake. I'm gonna give this a couple of weeks
with the new changes, like we saw a couple of
years ago with the Raiders after Gruden was let go,

(08:59):
Rich Bassacia took a team that was left for dead
and he improved them all the way to a wild
cart contender in Las Vegas, and they were able to
go toe to toe with the Bengals all the way
till overtime and lost a nail bier. So I'm not
gonna say the Jets can't do anything this season.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
I want to wait and see.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
All right, well, I've made up my mind. Now, by
the way, we have our first score of the day
and Baker Mayfield no doubt about his status right now.
Touchdown passed through Chris Godwin six for six sixty two
yards on that opening drive. So the Bucks take the
seven to nothing lead on the road against the Saints,
and the Bucks trying to take firm control right now
that NFC South. Meanwhile, the Texans have a first and

(09:39):
goal at New England's one yard line. The Patriots, after
that upset win in their first game against the Bengals,
are staring at the possibility of a fifth straight loss.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
And c J.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Stroud and the Texans again when today get to five
and one, they're sitting pretty especially in a division where
the Jaguars have collapsed. We don't know about the Colt
situation right now. By the way, if you don't.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
Know what the Patriots though, they they're starting their number
three overall pick, yes, Drake May. So that's really the
storyline of that game. And I do understand the Texans
being four and one.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
CJ.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Stroud, in his sophomore effort making good on the promise
that he is the franchise quarterback, very curious to see
how May looks against the talented Houston Texas week we.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Talked about this sold Drake May situation, like when is
the right time? Is this the right team for Drake
May to make his debut against.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Hmmm, is it the right time? You know what, I
would have probably waited another.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Week this this, this schedule gets a lot softer, but
maybe they want you know what, I'd have to look
ahead at their schedule again.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Do they have a road game coming up next? Because
if they're on the road, maybe that No, they're hosting
the Jaguars. Yes, so I I mean I probably would
have wait waited a week. Yeah, had him start against
the Jaguars, then you host the Jets next after that,
then you go on the road to the Titans. Then
you go on the road to Chicago, so you get
two home games still and you get two road games
against lesser competition before hosting the Rams. So the schedule

(11:09):
gets much easier after this game. But maybe they wanted
to test him against a better defense.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
All right, Commanders opening drive get down to the thirteen
yard line and then Jaden Daniels gets sacked for a
twelve yard loss on third down, so the Commanders have
a fourth to nineteen now at the Ravens twenty five
yard line. This is sort of a how good are
the Commanders? Obviously they're an underdog on the road, against

(11:38):
the Ravens as well they should be, but can they
be competitive in this game and hold their own The
field goal of tip is good, so the Commanders take
the early three out the league. We're just getting started here, folks.
If you're just tuning in for the first time, you're like, Wow,

for you. The Colts get the early seven to nothing
lead on the Titans again. Joe Flacco a quarterback Josh
Downs on the receiving end of a touchdown there and
which we just saw the Buccaneers, after scoring on their
opening drive, force a fumble return for a touchdown and

(13:26):
we are six minutes into this game and the Saints
are down fourteen to nothing at home.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Wow. Wow. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
The Saints, it's interesting, right. They started off so so
promising this season. It looked like everything that was ahead
of Derek Carr and this offense. But they've been rattled
a little bit, dropping to two and three on the season.
The Buccaneers, though, after the heartbreaking overtime loss to the Falcons,
they're trying to avoid an zero to two start in

(13:54):
division in the NFC South. So getting a couple of
points on the board to start the game, even if
you're your defense, who cares points on the road, are
good points.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
All right?

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Packers have taken a seven to nothing lead at home
against the Cardinals. Jordan loved to Jayden Reid touchdown pass.
So early seven to nothing lead for the Packers in
this game. You know, Rich, we talk about week six, right,
and suddenly you know, the boy there's you know, early
on it's like, all right, two and one versus one

(14:25):
and two, But when you're talking about four and two
versus two and four, now, all of a sudden you
can see, okay, now we're now you start having to
you know, sort of taking shape, like, okay, which teams
are looking good? I mean the Bears are a prime example, right,
the Bears are sitting of four and two. And we
talked about this before the season that Eberflus was sort

(14:47):
of on the list of the favorite to be the
NFL Coach of the year. He was also the favorite
to be the first coach fired. Well, he won't be
the first coach fire because Robert Salas already got that one,
but all of a sudd with an improving Caleb Williams,
you start looking at the Bears say all right for
it too, at least right now they look legit.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
They do.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
And it's interesting timing because you start thinking about the
Packers looking a little shaky to start their season. You
think about, honestly, how monstrous the NFC North is, with
both the Vikings and the Detroit Lions. The only way
you're gonna be able to keep pace for the next
foreseeable future is if you do something special. And Caleb

(15:33):
Williams is a special talent. Is he gonna have an
amazing year? Is this going to be a standout year
like c J.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Strodd?

Speaker 4 (15:39):
I don't know. I think it could be. I think
he could mature into a year like that. It wasn't
exactly a no brainer at week six that CJ. Stroud
was going to turn in one of the best rookie
seasons from a starting quarterback taken in the first round.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
It wasn't you know.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
As we let the season bake, we started realizing, oh, no,
this guy has the goods. He's playing with injured receivers.
He's playing with receivers who are frankly and I'm being
you know, I'm not trying to be unkind here, but
where nobody's in the NFL until they had a breakout
year with c J.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Stroud. We'll see if Kleb Williams can do the same
thing with Chicago.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
All Right, Ravens have tied up their game with the
Commanders three to three. In that game, and then opening
drive for Drake May making his season debut for the Patriots.
They ran three plays, two runs for one yard and
an incomplete pass, so they have one total yard and
now the Texans have a first and ten at the
New England seventeen yard line. As CJ. Stroud is on

(16:39):
fire to start this game six of eight sixty six yards.
He already has a touchdown pass to Dell that you
just heard, and they're knocking on the door once again.
Of all my preseason predictions, one could still hold true,
and that's the Patriots are the worst team in the NFL.
I mean, Jacksonville right now looks like the worst team.
But yeah, yeah, you know, when it's all said and done,

(17:00):
this Patriots team they're just thin on talent. I mean,
they just don't have a lot of game changers. They
have any game changers. I mean, their defense is certainly
at the very worst average, but offensively, I mean they're
just challenged.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
They're challenged, there's no question.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
But hey, you know what, a good quarterback can turn
around an offense real quick. Yeah, and we've seen that
many times droughout NFL history.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
You know, when you gave.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
Aaron Rodgers very little to work with in terms of
receivers during his tenure in Green Bay, you know, I mean,
he would turn those lemons and he would make some lemonade.
Same thing with Tom Brady with his time with the
New England Patriots. There are many times where people looked
around the offensive roster and said.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
Who are you leaning on this year? How is this
gonna work? Exactly?

Speaker 4 (17:50):
And then boom, they're back in the AFC Championship Game.
And a little bit of that has happened with the
Kansas City Chiefs. Now Mahomes has always had Travis Kelcey,
but when they got rid of Tyreek Hill, all of
a sudden in comes a couple of faces that nobody
really knew we're going to help out or be able
to help out as much as they did, and they
end up winning a Super Bowl that year. So here's

(18:11):
the deal, Drake May who knows the story's unwritten. But
if he's a talented quarterback, just like CJ. Stroud in
the Houston Texans a year ago, we're going to see fireworks.
It just all comes down to did the Patriots select
the right guy?

Speaker 1 (18:25):
Is he ready to play?

Speaker 2 (18:27):
All right? So Texans get a defensive passing a friends
call against New England. So they've reset first and goal
at the New England ten yard line, leading seven to nothing. Meanwhile,
the Titans trailing the Colts at home seven to nothing.
You have a first and goal at the Indianapolis nine
yard line. And when you look at the Colts, I
don't know. They resemble last year's Cleveland Browns. Why because

(18:49):
they have Joe Flacco a quarterback. Would that be unbelievable? Seriously,
if Joe Flacco, after leading the Browns into the playoffs
a year ago, a year later, would lead the Colts
into the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
It would be insane.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
When he's considering that at the start of last year,
basically still at this time we are talking right now,
a year ago, he was watching games from the couch,
probably listening to red Zone Radium.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
Most likely I would guarantee because everybody does. Look, this
matchup is featuring one of the most stingy defenses going
against one of the worst in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Right now, the.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Titans have allowed a league low two hundred and forty
three point eight yards per game behind this unit who
they've invested into.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
The Colts.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
Meanwhile, they're yielding a league high four hundred and nineteen
yards per game off So in order for Joe Flacco
to have success, they have to unleash him, like he
has to be insanely accurate with the football, and so
far he has been. I mean, the last game out,
Flacco was on fire. It's it's interesting, though, you're leaning

(19:57):
on an old guy, you know, a guy who potent
could be injury prone if he gets roughed up. Although
he's playing behind a very talented offensive line group in Indianapolis.
But that is some of the concern here. Is Okay,
so you're already onto Flacco and that is what you're
holding onto for dear life. But then you start thinking, like, okay,

(20:18):
if Flacco goes down and you're onto your third string quarterback,
who who knows who they.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Put in next?

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Shane Steichen and this crew everybody starts turning their attention
back to Anthony Richardson and saying, hey, why did you
guys spend that pick and all this money getting Anthony Richardson.
Clearly he's not helping the team over his first two
seasons as a first round quarterback selected. So what is
going to be the future? Because right now it's getting
pretty bleak. But that hasn't happened yet. Joe Flacco's elite,

(20:44):
and who knows, maybe he will lead the Cults to
some AFC South prominence.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
All right, dog game of the day so far, no score,
Browns Eagles did. John Watson has been bad as usual,
three or four twenty two yards eel has been sacked
twice for fifteens and losses, so they have a net
seven yards passing. But he's a juggernaut compared to Jalen
Hurts oh for five passing to start the game.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
Jalen Hurts, who we saw in the Super Bowl less
than two years ago outplay Patrick Mahomes except for one
unfortunate fumble that cost them that game against the Chiefs.
He was the talk of that Super Bowl. And here
we are they're playing the Cleveland Browns and again the
Browns have a really good defense, but Jalen Hurts oh

(21:31):
for five passing.

Speaker 4 (21:31):
And speaking of which browns aj Brown is back with
the Eagles after the hamstring injury. He was expected to
play for the first time. The Eagles scored thirty four
points in their opener against the Packers, and then in
the three games without Brown average seventeen points. So I
think you understand how valuable wide receivers are in this
league now. They completely changed the way you have to

(21:53):
defend teams. Also, coming back into the offensive lineup back
from injury, Lane Johnson I tackled DeVante Smith to give
a little bit of Batman and Robin feel back to
this receiving corps for the Philadelphia Eagles, who have looked
bad frankly without them. So, yeah, Steve, I'm with you.
I think I think that Jalen Hurts the jury all

(22:18):
of a sudden feels out on whether or not he's
the franchise guy.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
We felt very much so like it was the case.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Then let's former Eagles Fano Benson here.

Speaker 6 (22:26):
This is a great day. The Rams aren't playing a.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Former tell yeah, that's right there.

Speaker 6 (22:30):
I got to watch Matthew Stafford on TV with Fox
was wonderful if you'd like a good summation of the
mood around Philadelphia Eagles. According to Bo Wolf of All Philly,
Nick Sirianni joined back and forth with two Browns quarterbacks
as his team punts for the second time in its
first two possessions. Things going well here, Yeah, that is
the mood in Philadelphia.

Speaker 2 (22:49):
Well again, if they were to lose today at home
to Deshaun Watson and the Browns, well, there is no
guarantee that Sirianni will survive.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
You did you?

Speaker 6 (22:57):
Did you see his fashion statement today? He nick Sirronni
shaved his head coming out of the bye week.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
Okay, all right, so hang on, hang on those let
me give you the don't they shave the heads of
guys that go to the electric chair?

Speaker 1 (23:10):
That is correct?

Speaker 2 (23:11):
She Okay, Now, I don't know. I just I don't know.
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (23:15):
I mean, I just want to say I'm fired, but
more distance so.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
But here's the good news for the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (23:23):
Aside from haircuts and electric chairs, Deshaun Watson has a
total QBR of twenty one this season, which is the
fourth worst total QBR. Get this, in the team's first
five teams of a season, amongst the four hundred and
eighty qbs to start all five games since the QBR
metric was invented, Deshaun Watson is playing historically poor football. Yes,

(23:49):
I mean if the if the Eagles lose to the Browns,
there's something seriously wrong with the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
Let's put it that way.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
I would say that. Say, by the way, if you
are playing A J. Brown today and I told you
Jalen Hurts is zero for five passing, that answers your question,
how's AJ Brown doing today? All right, let's find out
what is trending right now?

Speaker 1 (24:10):
And there she is.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Here's Moncey. Yes, Monzi. I have to tell you, rich
Monzi is in the midst of like the busiest forty
eight hours of her life.

Speaker 7 (24:24):
I really am, I really am.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
So we did our show yesterday and then you stayed
to do updates and there did updates.

Speaker 7 (24:30):
Yeah after I forgot about that actually.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
And then you have now you have the Horror Nights
as well.

Speaker 8 (24:35):
So yeah, so I'll be here with you guys till
too and then I'm gonna go change and get out
of my Halloween outfit because you know, tis the season,
right this, he's a Universal Studio those First, I'm gonna
go to the Dodger game.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
So you're going the Dodger game, then Horror Nights, and
then you have to be back at Dodger Stadium at
ten am tomorrow game Trick time.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Out, QuickTime out? Steve. Are you saying horror like horror? Yes? Horror?

Speaker 2 (24:57):
Okay, horror, Yes, I just wanted to. I know when
I say that you get a little suspicious. I get that,
But I'm just saying horror. Horror Nights.

Speaker 8 (25:07):
There's literally an episode of Modern Family where it's Halloween
and they're like, are.

Speaker 7 (25:11):
We saying horror?

Speaker 2 (25:12):
What are we saying?

Speaker 9 (25:16):
So?

Speaker 7 (25:16):
Yes, No, we're Horror Nights.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
So yes, I I have been because I'm saying it.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Everyone question right right?

Speaker 8 (25:25):
Everyone is it's Horror Nights.

Speaker 7 (25:28):
Yes, I'm here. Then I'm going to Dodger game.

Speaker 8 (25:30):
Then I'm gonna go to Halloween Horn Nights, and then
I have to be back at Dodger Stadium at like
nine am.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
That's great.

Speaker 5 (25:34):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Yeah, So I'm the only reprieve is we only have
six games going on? Right?

Speaker 7 (25:40):
That is really it.

Speaker 8 (25:41):
It's a and I'm having such a grand time. I mean,
you guys, I love Sundays. Okay, let's check in on
the scores.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Here.

Speaker 8 (25:47):
We have the Packers beating the Cardinals. You know, Jordan
Love connecting with Jayden Reid early on. So it's seven
zero five minutes to go in the first quarter. The
Colts and the Titans are tied at seven apiece. Joe
Flacco in for Anthony Richards, who is serving as the
emergency number three quarterback as he continues to rehab that
oblique injury. Joe Flacco already with a touchdown pass to
Josh Downs, but the Titans have responded, so at seven

(26:09):
to seven, six minutes to go in the first quarter.

Speaker 7 (26:12):
All Texans against the Patriots.

Speaker 8 (26:13):
C J Strout has already connected with Tank Dell and
Joe Mixon is back after missing the last couple of weeks,
so the Texans up on the Patriots fourteen zero. Late
in the first quarter. All Buccaneers against the Saints. Saints
expect Derek Carr to be out three to four weeks
with this oblique injury, so Spencer Rattler may be in
there for a little bit. Wide receiver Chrystal Lave has
gone to the locker room. He's being evaluated for a concussion.

(26:36):
The Buccaneers Baker Mayfield connecting with Chris Godwin Antoine Winfield
Junior with a fifty eight yard scoop and score. So
the score right now seventeen zero against the Saints Eagles,
Browns scoreless, three minutes to go in the first quarter.

Speaker 7 (26:49):
The Commanders and.

Speaker 8 (26:50):
The Ravens some of the strongest offensive teams that we
have seen so far.

Speaker 7 (26:55):
Three to three.

Speaker 8 (26:56):
They're about to end the first quarter, so all of
a sudden, they're a defensive team.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Wow, well I know wow.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Oh.

Speaker 8 (27:04):
And of course the Bears defeated the Jags in London
thirty five sixteen. Chicago is now foreign to Caleb Williams
four touchdown passes, feeling himself.

Speaker 7 (27:13):
Yeah, I love it. He's on my fantasy.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Yeah he is.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
He is looking good right now. And Trevor Lawrence is not.
And Peterson I would be stuck.

Speaker 10 (27:23):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
If it doesn't happen now, yeah, yeah, it's no.

Speaker 8 (27:27):
Boy now, especially because we talked about it yesterday, Steve.

Speaker 7 (27:29):
The Jags are like, that's their home. It's like a
home game for them in London.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Right, they always play every game here in London, and
for that embarrassing performance today. Yeah, that's that's usually a
ticket out of town. By the way, we do have
ODM Moore.

Speaker 7 (27:43):
No, I don't, oh you don't.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
You take a breather for a second here once again,
this is Right Zone Radio. Steve Harbin and Rich Ornberger
with you. We do have a completed pass courtesy of
Jalen Hurts So his first completed pass of the game
Eagles and Brown's score with two minutes to go in
the first quarter. You know, the Saints at home. This
was a question today about Spencer Ratler at quarterback for

(28:10):
the Saints today, Rich with the Derek Carr out. As
you mentioned earlier, the first two games, they were the
best team in the NFL. Two games into the season,
the Saints were the best team in the NFL. They
haven't won since, and so it's it's a reality check
time for them. I remember during the preseason Rattler played well, yes,

(28:32):
and Saints fans are screaming forget Derek Carr. Put in Rattler,
and then those first two games, Derek Carr looks like MVP.
Well not so much anymore, you know.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
You know, what's another storyline that we do have to
comment on. Because many of the Buccaneers players did. Is
the fact that Hurricane Milton obviously made landfall on the
West Bank of Florida and ravaged a lot of the
people who root for the Buccaneers and left a lot
of people without power, a lot of people lost their lives,

(29:03):
a lot of people needed to be rescued, and so
as a result, there's a little bit more to this
storyline for Buccaneers players, you know, because they know that
they represent hope and see this and it's odd that
they're playing the Saints because the Saints during Hurricane Katrina
and the aftermath that followed, they ended up winning the
Super Bowl and years later, but do you remember how

(29:27):
impactful that was for not only the players. Obviously for
the players you win the Super Bowl, it's great, but
for the city of New Orleans, for the people rooted
on for the Saints, like it became more than just football.
And I'm not saying this is going to be the
same effect, but certainly it came up in conversation before
the game kicked off, and I think there's a little

(29:48):
extra gusto that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are playing with today.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
I don't remember if this was exactly the billboard. I
do remember coming into New Orleans after the Katrina situation,
like you said, eventually winning the Super Bowl, and there
was a billboard that I saw. It was something like
the Aints no more right, right, you know?

Speaker 1 (30:09):
And it did.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
It completely changed the dynamic not only of the Saints
franchised but that entire city. So you're right, you know, again,
our thoughts and prayers with everyone that's been savage by
these back to back hurricanes throughout the South there. It's
been absolutely unreal to see what we've all seen in

(30:33):
the coverage of those hurricanes. Packers have the ball right now.
They're in Arizona Territory and trying to increase their lead. Packers,
you know, they looked a little indifferent early, but at
home today against the Cardinals, a pack of victory gets
them to four and two, and then all of a sudden,

(30:54):
you look at this NFC North. This is the best
division in football. You got the underf Vikings, you got
the Lions, who may be on paper the best team
in the NFL, and then you have the Bears at
four and two, and the Packers could be foreign too.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
It's crazy.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
They're lapping the field Jordan Love has already thrown five
interceptions so far this season, so he has gotten off
to a shaky start with the knee injury he's come
back from. Look the way it feels to me is
this is truly the first adversity that Jordan Love has

(31:31):
had to overcome in his young NFL career, and so
we'll see how it looks against a pretty talented Cardinals defense.
If he can get this victory, you know, that means
that he has the ability to shake off the circumstances
and find a way to win it. It's never perfect.
I shouldn't say that, And it's not that it is
imperfect that we should be critical of any of these quarterbacks,

(31:53):
but at such an important position, especially when a team
commits the kind of money that they've us committed to
Jordan Love, you become more than just a quarterback. You're
not just a player. You're now the face of a franchise.
And so if the Green Bay Packers are going to
have success, yeah, you could talk about Matt Lafleur, and
you could blame the running back situation, or the receivers

(32:14):
or the defense let us down. But we all know
this league now all roads go back to the QB.
So this is gonna be a big bounce back for
Jordan Love if, after some early stumbles and absences due
to injury, he could get this win and advance the
Packers to four and two.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
Well, thing we're guaranteed this week is that we'll still
have an undefeated team after Week six because both undefeated
teams have a bye this week. The Chiefs and the
Vikings are off this week, as are the Rams and Dolphins.
All Right, we're heading to the end of the first
quarters into second quarter actions six games around the NFL.
As always, we are the place to be to update
you on everything you need to know. This is Red

(32:50):
Zone Radio.

Speaker 10 (32:52):
Three receivers form a bunch on the left side, Snip
the love waits still looking close right.

Speaker 5 (32:58):
Side over the color tuxdown stream Bay Packers.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
That's ninety seven to three in the game WRNW Packers
Radio Network Packers fourteen nothing lead at home against the
Arizona Cardinals. That game just into the start of the
second quarter. Once again, this is Red Zone Radio. Steve
hartin Rich Ormberger with you. We are live from the
Tirerack dot Com studios. So let's update you on the

(33:26):
other games. Colts and Titans are tied at seven. Just
starting the second quarter there, Texans with a fourteen nothing
lead on the road against the Patriots. Eleven minutes to
go in the half. There, started the second quarter, and
the Saints have just gotten on the board with a
field goal. They still trail the Buccaneers seventeen to three.
The Eagles lead the Commanders. Excuse me, the Eagles lead

(33:50):
the Browns three to nothing. Twelve minutes to go in
the half there, and the Commanders and Ravens are tied
to three. Now, this was a game where a lot
of people thought we were going to to see a
multitude of points. Rich Baltimore coming off that shootout victory
against the Bengals. Obviously, this Commander's offense has been pretty prolific.
Three three, eleven minutes to go in the half. What's

(34:13):
going on there?

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Isn't that always how it goes.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
Whenever we think we're gonna see fireworks, all of a sudden,
it starts looking more and more like a heavyweight prize fight.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
Right.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
You know, in the heavyweight boxing world, everybody knows what
you're excited for. Knockouts, right, the knockout power heavyweights obviously
have a harder time getting out of the way of punches.
So when we're everybody's all excited for a big heavyweight fight,
you know you're expecting to see fireworks. And then for
the first two to three rounds, it kind of feels
like the fighters are circling each other and trying to

(34:46):
figure each other out because they know how detrimental mistakes
will be.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
That's what this looks like to me.

Speaker 4 (34:51):
I think Baltimore and Washington both are playing a little timid,
They're playing a little shy. It sort of feels like
they're choosing when to throw their haymakers. I'm expecting some
fireworks in the second half.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Well, one guy is having a good game for Baltimore's
eight flowers right now, five catches eighty eight yards already, Wow,
in the first half of this game. By the way,
yesterday with Montsey and I, I added the under on
this game, and so I did pick the under on
this game. So I don't probably here was my thinking

(35:21):
on it seriously about this game, because you got the
commanders on the road, and I thought, look, let's be
fair to the commander. This is a no knock, is
what they've done. So far Jaden Daniels. But this is
the Ravens, right and you know this is an experienced
team defense, and I thought that at the very least
Jayden Danils would struggle some today. I thought though, that

(35:42):
the Ravens were going to score plenty against the Commanders,
and so far they haven't, although they are now in
a position where they have a second and ten at
the Commander's fourteen yard line. So again, three three, nine
minutes to go in the game. There, I'm watching this
Eagles Browns game, as ugly as it is, and I'm
watching Kevin Stefanski on the sidelines and he's going nuts.

(36:08):
I mean, he really is. This guy was the NFL
Coach of the Air last year and has done a
pretty good job since taken over as the Cleveland Browns coach.
But it's got to be frustrating for Stefanski when it
seems to be ownership hell bent on keeping DeShawn Watson
in a quarterback. And this stat that I just saw

(36:29):
is mind blowing. Through their first five games, twenty six
sacks already. That's the most sacks of a Browns quarterback
through the first five games since nineteen eighty four. Stat
forty years ago.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
That stack can be misleading and now can be.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
But I mean, it's either your quarterback ain't getting on
the ball too long or your offensive line sucks. But
either way it's a bad stat.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
So consider the source.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
I'm a former offensive lineman, so maybe I'm rushing to
the defense of an offensive line. But yes, it can
be because your offensive line is not good, not playing good,
or not understanding the concepts of pass protections and they're
letting too many free hitters go in the backfield or
not getting to their responsibilities.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
Or it could be very much so on the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
And not just in terms of where he's going with
the football and holding on to it too long. It
could also be situations with the pass protection where he
isn't communicating things with the offensive line and there are
too many opportunities for defenses that shouldn't be getting to
Deshaun Watson getting to Deshaun Watson because he's not taking
care of his problems, not throwing hot when he's supposed to,

(37:40):
meaning when there's an extra person who you can't account
for in your protection package, knowing where to go with
the football and doing it immediately. This stress is a
defense out. This lowers their pressure rate if they're smart,
because if you're beating their pressure and they keep going
to that, well, well you're gonna keep having success against
that defense. And then some of the blame can be

(38:00):
on the head coach. So if you have a quarterback
who's not playing well in.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
A system, it's a bad system. Okay, I understand.

Speaker 4 (38:09):
Yeah, you know, some of these quarterbacks are getting paid him,
you know, tens and tens and tens of millions of
dollars per year, and Deshaun Watson's one of them. But
if you have a great system that a quarterback is
playing poorly in, you don't have a great system.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
You have a bad system.

Speaker 4 (38:24):
So if that's the issue, if Deshaun Watson's not understanding
the Stefanski system, well.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
Guess whose fault that is.

Speaker 1 (38:32):
It's it's Kevin Stefanski's fault to a certain extent. So
he's got to find a way to meet him in
the middle, find out what his strengths are and get
to those strengths. Otherwise his job is in just as
much jeopard as Deshaun Watson's job.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
All Right, we had a pass interference call against the
Commanders that put the Ravens in scoring position and they
have just scored. I missed the score, which how did
they scare it? Okay, so the extra is.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Good, which, by the way, that makes a lot of
sense because one of the biggest storylines coming in is
Washington does not.

Speaker 1 (39:06):
Stop the run.

Speaker 4 (39:07):
They are near the bottom in yards per carry allowed,
They're near the bottom and yards per game allowed on
the on the ground. It's terrible timing to play against
a Baltimore offense because they're just not going to be
able to stop Derek Henry and Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
All right, ten to three, now, Ravens a lead of
the Commanders in that game. The Eagles are on the
move right now. They actually had a big was that
kal Katara? Who was that that caught that pass? Yeah,
Gran calcater all right, so he had a thirty five
yard recept, thirty four yard reception. As the Eagles now
are in Browns territory, leading this game by a score
of three to nothing. And if you run a es,

(39:44):
this game has been that ugly so far with these
two teams. Though after his zero for five start, Jalen
Hartz is now four for his last five, four for
ten in the game. All right, we are heading toward
halftime around the NFL. Keep it right here for all
the latest. This is Red Zone ra.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
Hurts back, Hurts looks.

Speaker 11 (40:02):
Hurts is looking for AJ Brown who has to purt touchdown.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
That's what they do, these two, that's what they do.
Twenty two yards for a touchdown. That's ninety four wip
Egles Radio Network.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
AJ Brown back and he is in the end zone.
Eagles lead the Browns by a score ten to nothing,
seven minutes to go in the first half in that game.
This is Red Zone Radio. We're broadcasting live from the
ti iraq dot com studios tyrach dot com. We're gonna
help get you there. I matched selection, fast, free shipping,
free road ass and protection over ten thousand recommended installers

(40:37):
ti iraq dot com the way tire buying should be.
All right. So a couple of things happening right now.
The Packers are once again well now looking at a
fourth down place. So imagine a field goal attempt, already
leading the Cardinals fourteen to nothing, and meanwhile Jayden Daniels
trying to get the Commanders back in it, and they

(40:58):
have got a touchdown. Commanders mclauren on the receiving end
of a touchdown pass from Jade and Daniels, Sir, they're
an extra point away from tying up this game rich
with the Ravens about four minutes to go in the half.

Speaker 4 (41:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
Jaden Daniels is the Goods.

Speaker 4 (41:15):
He was great at LSU in that Heisman effort and
everybody was thinking, well, Kayleb Williams.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
What if?

Speaker 2 (41:22):
How will all that?

Speaker 4 (41:24):
And it's been Jaden Daniels the whole start of this
season who's really impressed all of us. Now, it doesn't
mean that Kayleb Williams hasn't been impressive for the Browns.

Speaker 1 (41:32):
He has, but this command of.

Speaker 2 (41:34):
Bears, for the guys say for the Browns wish yeah, yeah, yeah,
exactly yeah for the Bears.

Speaker 4 (41:42):
But the Commanders, I think a lot of people with
the coaching change, it sort of felt like they almost
settled for dan Quinn, you know, and and I know
that's probably not fair to dan Quinn, but that's what
it felt like. They had some other interviews, specifically when
they brought in Ben Johnson from the Detroit Lions, the

(42:03):
offensive coordinator, who turned around and said yeah, never mind
to the Commanders and they end up signing him. They
draft Jaden Daniels. They have Cliff Kingsbury as if his
offensive coordinator, and everybody was thinking to themselves, how's this
really gonna work, how's this gonna look? Well, we know
how it's gonna work. Well, we know how it's gonna look. Electric.

Speaker 1 (42:22):
Jaden Daniels is real.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
How about this? Saints have a third down right now
the Tampa twenty. They were down seventeen to nothing and
now all of a sudden they have the ball down seven.
So Spencer Rattler has been able to sort of settle down.
Of course, he is in today for Derek Carr. What's
going on here?

Speaker 1 (42:42):
Bo?

Speaker 9 (42:42):
Do we have a little just saying Baker Mayfield got
picked off to set off the sul.

Speaker 2 (42:46):
Run I was wondering how the Saints got the ball back? Okay,
so an interception throw by Mayfield is given the Saints
a golden opportunity and.

Speaker 6 (42:56):
Uh and Mike Evans ran right into the locker room afterwards.
So this all coming off.

Speaker 9 (43:00):
Rashiji head of course returned a punt for a touchdown too,
because of course he did.

Speaker 2 (43:05):
Okay, well, I mean a.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
Good turners in the league and he's paying it off
right there, and he's turned into one of the best receivers.

Speaker 1 (43:11):
Ye that nobody's talking about. But Rashid Shaheed is great.

Speaker 2 (43:15):
Well, I mean, if the Saints were to actually come
back and win this game at home, suddenly the dynamic
of the NFC South looks completely different, because that means
the Saints to be three and three. Bucks, they're three
and three, got the Falcons and oh, that's right, you
still have Carolina Carolina in that division.

Speaker 9 (43:30):
Yeah, three out of four ain't bad, that's right.

Speaker 1 (43:33):
That's right there, all right.

Speaker 2 (43:35):
So I wanted to jump ahead for a second here
on one of the games coming up a little bit
later on, since Chris is anxious. You have to understand this, Rich.
It was a bitter day for Chris yesterday. Tigers obviously
was scooball.

Speaker 1 (43:48):
On the mound.

Speaker 2 (43:49):
He was holding as an understatement. Yeah that you know,
the Tigers would prevail against the Guardians, and it did
not happen. So the Guardians move on to play the
Yankees in the ALCS. But the Lions against the Cowboys.
Everybody's picking the Lions. The Lions are favored on the road.
The Cowboys are three and zero. On the road and
owing to at home this year. I said at one

(44:12):
point early in the show that you could almost make
an argument the Lions have the best talent in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (44:19):
Maybe.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
I mean, they don't have a lot of glaring weaknesses
on this team. Right now, what's your early read on
this Detroit Dallas game?

Speaker 4 (44:29):
I mean my early read is I would be all
over the Lions too. Look, you know it was probably
the most controversial ending to a game last year when
Dallas and Detroit played against each other. Dallas beat them
after that game winning two point conversion by Tyler Decker

(44:49):
was negated because of illegal touching. Do you remember that.
I mean, so, let's put it this way. You know
that Detroit is out for blood. Because if there's one
thing Dan Campbell has done is he's completely changed.

Speaker 1 (45:05):
The ethos of the Lions.

Speaker 4 (45:07):
It's not a team like, hey, where the down trodden
Lions were America's favorite loser. You know, where the team
you root for when you don't have a team to
root for in the in the game where you're like, ah,
you know what, who wants to root against it?

Speaker 1 (45:22):
No?

Speaker 4 (45:22):
No, no, no, no, this is a completely different look the
Detroit Lions are dangerous, They're scary. Like you said, they
don't have many holes. They re signed all of their
weapons offensively this offseason. They get better with Laporta being
healthy at some point this season, completely healthy at some
point this season. I'm I'm I'm excited for the Detroit
Lions this season.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
And then you look at the.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
Other side and you think about Dallas, Like, what are
your feelings, Steve on the Dallas Cowboys entering this season.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
It's a very different feeling that.

Speaker 2 (45:52):
How we had to win the Super Bowl. Remember this,
I am on record having the Dallas Cowboys because my
thinking was, yes, this is a team that's been winning
what twelve games three consecutive years, you know, and it
just like the football gods are saying not now, not now,

(46:13):
not now in that ugly playoff game against the Packers
a year ago. And I just feel like at some
point things are going to go their way at some point.
I mean, obviously they're sitting at three and two. Usually
when you start the season with three road wins, you're
in great shape. But owing two at home and obviously
an underdog at home today against a really good Lions team,

(46:34):
So I don't know, the lines are a better team
than the Cowboys. But maybe that's maybe there's a day
like when suddenly everything goes their way and the highest
paid player in the NFL just has an insane day
against a really good team. Could be today for Dak Prescott.
Who knows.

Speaker 4 (46:53):
If they lose again today, it'll mark the first time
since two thousand and six, with their starting quarter back
in under center, that the Dallas Cowboys have opened the
season with three consecutive home losses. So and listen, I mean,
is that huge news. No, But considering they were on
an absolute tear at home, winning sixteen straight home games

(47:16):
all the way through last season.

Speaker 1 (47:18):
I mean, this is a team that was just typically
great at Jerry's World.

Speaker 4 (47:22):
Anytime they were hosting anybody, You're like, oh, well, Dallas
will find a way to win. I mean, it was
a short fire money line bet. And now all of
a sudden, we have questions about why, like why do they.

Speaker 1 (47:34):
Look so poor when they're at home. It's a strange thing.

Speaker 4 (47:37):
It feels like a little bit of a hiccup through
the first two weeks. But if they do it again,
if they lose to Detroit at home, all of a sudden,
it's a trend. And now you got to start asking
questions to Mike McCarthy, to Dak Prescott, to some of
the other important members of this team defensively or otherwise, Hey,
why does this keep happening?

Speaker 2 (47:56):
Yeah, by the way, the Saints did get a field goals,
so they have cut that Buccaneers lead down to seventeen
to thirteen. So the Saints mounting a challenge. I'm watching
right now the Cleveland Browns. All right, we got three
minutes to go in the half. Eagles are up ten
to nothing. Browns are driving, and I'm just watching Deshaun
Watson throw the football. He's five of eleven for forty

(48:18):
six yards. He just missed a receiver badly. You know
it wasn't one of those so that was dropped or
and now he just got sacked, which is his third
sack of the game, setting up a fourth down, and
so they're staring at about a forty something yardfield goal.
So you know, it's just not happening. And I don't know,

(48:39):
if I'm Kevin Stefanski, I march into the owner's office
and say, okay, I get it, like we're paying this
guy a lot of money, but you can't hold me
accountable for his ineptitude as a quarterback, Like I can't
be held responsible because I would make could change right now.

(49:01):
I would go to James Winston, I would go to
dtr I would go to anybody but him. But if
you insist that we keep throwing him out there and
he continues to play as poorly as he is, the
Browns did get a field goal ten to three right
now is to score against the Eagles. Do not hold
me accountable.

Speaker 4 (49:19):
Hey, listen, he can't play anymore. He's not a starting
quarterback anymore. It's as simple as that. I mean, we don't,
don't we have a large enough yes sample size.

Speaker 2 (49:30):
You you just gave us the numbers historically bad.

Speaker 4 (49:34):
Historically bad through these first five games for the Cleveland Browns.
Has he really dazzled anybody when he wasn't injured?

Speaker 2 (49:40):
You know what he dazzled last year? Remember it was
that last half that he played and then the next
week they said he was hurt. But you remember that
he had almost a perfect half in leading the Browns
to a comfort behind victory, where like finally we get
to see and then that's announced that week he's out
for the year.

Speaker 1 (49:55):
Well, and see that's just my point, Steve.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
You can't depend on him to be on the field
as an NFL player, Your most important ability is your durability.
When he's on the field, you can't depend on him
to be anything resembling the quarterback he was in Houston,
which is the reason why you're paying him this enormous
guaranteed contract. So here's the question I'll ask again, is
he a starting quarterback in the NFL? And the answer

(50:19):
is no, he's not because his numbers don't look like
any starting quarterback should in the NFL, especially one who
you're paying this much money to.

Speaker 1 (50:27):
So, if this is a business decision.

Speaker 4 (50:30):
And you're keeping him in the game because you've spent
so much money on him, you're doing bad business because
you're throwing good money after bad You're saying, Okay, we
made a poor investment, so let's really lean into this
poor investment. This way, we can make sure to maximize
our dollars. Absolutely not. What you have to want to
do is cut bait and bail.

Speaker 2 (50:52):
You're not gonna believe this. Baker Mayfield just got intercepted
again and the Saints have just scored a touchdown Spencer
Ler to Bob Means and the Saints take the lead
against Tampa. This is unbelievable. So first play after the
interception and there it is two feet down touchdown. Saints.

(51:16):
Amazing to take the lead.

Speaker 1 (51:17):
So this was.

Speaker 2 (51:18):
Seventeen to nothing Buccaneers. There's still eight and a half
minutes to go in the first half. So the Saints
now have the lead in this game. And that is
a touchdown passer Spencer Ratler. And wow, what a turnaround
in this game for the Saints after it looked like
a mailing game.

Speaker 6 (51:36):
We also have a touchdown by a Jordan Love in
the Packers game. He's just threw another one.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
All right, So the Packers now with a twenty four
to nothing lead. Jordan Love three touchdown passes fourteen of
nineteen hundred and eighty five yards and three touchdowns. So
Malik Willis can stay on the bench right now. No
knock on him because he did play well. But looks
like Jordan Love is back. By the way, the extra
point for the Sainteints no good. They missed the extra point?

Speaker 1 (52:04):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (52:05):
Or did they?

Speaker 1 (52:06):
No?

Speaker 2 (52:06):
They did get the extra I'm sorry let me correct
that it said no good, but it actually is good.
So Saints lead the Buccaneers by a score of twenty
to seventeen after spotting them a seventeen to nothing lead.
All right, as you can see, we argue really heating
up around the NFL with these six games. Right now,
what's next is one way to find out? Stay right here,

(52:27):
this is red zone radio. Saints have the football.

Speaker 12 (52:30):
At the ten ratt lerner throw looking now, throwst to
the ends on and that is gonna be caught, and
that is Bud Leans lit. A rookie on the far
side gets his first touchdown. Good play action waited, waited.

Speaker 2 (52:45):
Bang, that's WWL Saints Radio network. Saints took the lead
twenty to seventeen over the Bucks, but the Buccaneers have
just answered back with a big touchdown. I believe Tucker
was on the receiving end from Baker Mayfield there, and
so the uh Buccaneers now have a twenty three to
twenty lead over the Saints waiting on the x foint there. Oh,

(53:08):
it is going.

Speaker 9 (53:09):
Don't bear crazy, though, don't bury the lead on what
just happened.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
Hold on a second, I do have to do a
reset here. Once again, this is red Zone radio and
we are live from the Tirak dot com studios. So
the Eagles had a ten to three lead at home
against the innep Rounds lined up for a fifty seven
yard field goal attempt, blocked return for a touchdown. Wow,

(53:33):
that game is ten ten.

Speaker 1 (53:34):
Oh my gods.

Speaker 2 (53:36):
Garrett was all over that kick. Yeah, that was a
by the way, to see the laces pointing at the
kicker when he kicked it. The ball was flipped wrongway
and it was blocked and returned for a touchdown.

Speaker 9 (53:49):
So I'm watching it. Miles Garrett jumps the center, yeah,
and gets directly to it.

Speaker 2 (53:54):
Yeah, it was a clean and it was a perfect bounce.
It was one of those perfect blocked kick that bounces
right into one of the Browns players hands and he
returns for the touchdowns. So we got a lot of
craziness going on in a very very volatile first half.
By the way, that Eagles Browns game. The reason they
were attempting the fifty seven yardfield goal is that it

(54:17):
was right at the end of the half. So instead
of up thirteen to three at the half, Browns Eagles
tied ten ten at halftime.

Speaker 4 (54:26):
Look again, I'll repeat what we said earlier in the show,
considering who you're playing against that quarterback, and really just
sort of the general vibe that the Browns have given
off the entire season. It doesn't seem like they have
the same fight they had with Joe Flacco at quarterback
toward the end of the season. The Browns were a
surprise team with the fact that they had cycled through

(54:49):
six different starting quarterbacks throughout the NFL season, But they
looked like a scrappy team that just found ways to
win and Joe Flacco was leading them. They feel list
right now, So if you're Philadelphia, especially with the questionable
situation at head coach, because as it's been well reported,
there's been issues with Nick Sirianni in this locker room.

(55:11):
There's been issues with Nick Sirianni and this front office.
I'm curious if a loss of the Browns is in
something of a death now, especially since a little bit
of the pressure has been taken off with the band
aid being yanked off in New York with Robert Sala
being the first to go this season.

Speaker 1 (55:26):
In terms of a head coach firing.

Speaker 2 (55:28):
Could well be by the way, remember I was bragging
about my underpick on this Ravens Commander's game when it
was three to three. Well, all of a sudden, a
touchdown pass from Lamar Jackson and Mark Andrews makes it
seventeen to ten. Ravens, we got about fifteen seconds to go.
Jayden Daniels is frantically trying to get the Commanders in

(55:49):
at least field goal position. So as soon as I
open my mouth and they're like, there's no way we
can let Hartman win on the under, suddenly a Floria
points Mark Andrews. As I mentioned, thirteen yard touchdown reception
from Lamar Jackson, who, by the way, is having one
heck of a game again today, fourteen of nineteen two
hundred and eight yards passing in this game. So the

(56:12):
Commanders are at midfield right now. We got sixteen seconds left,
and they have one time out, and they've got another
completed pass ten seconds left out of bounds, so at
the very least right now, they're in a position for
a long field goal attempt.

Speaker 1 (56:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (56:29):
Yeah, this is a wonky part of the season when
you start thinking about where we're at in the NFL
Week six, we're getting to see who these teams are, like,
we're getting to see the identity of certain teams like
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, at least to my measure in
terms of the eyeball test in year two with Baker Mayfield,

(56:50):
it looks right like Tampa Bay looks like they've found
their starting quarterback.

Speaker 1 (56:54):
At least for the future couple years.

Speaker 10 (56:57):
Right.

Speaker 1 (56:57):
You know, you look around the league and you say, Okay,
the New England.

Speaker 4 (57:00):
Patriots, where are they at? Well, they're still waiting to excel.
After the Tom Brady era ends, they're still listless and
it hasn't gotten much better. Now we're onto the new
era with Drake may We'll see how that looks. It
remains to be seen. But right now Houston's leading against
the New England Patriots.

Speaker 2 (57:19):
Yeah, they have, by the way, eighty three total yards
on the first half New England and no points with
sixteen seconds left. By the way, Commanders Sebert is coming
on for a field goal attempt right now with five
seconds to go in the half. Again, it's a fifty
two yard field goal attempt, and let's see how this
kick is looking. The Ravens leaving seventeen to ten, and

(57:40):
it is no good missed it.

Speaker 4 (57:44):
The Commanders another team where you start to think to yourself, man,
we're starting to see the identity of that team. Jayden
Daniels looks to be a real quarterback at this league level.

Speaker 1 (57:54):
You know.

Speaker 4 (57:54):
So Week six is an important week because now we
have a record that actually gives you a large enough
ample size to say, hey, what's the season going to
look like? Which direction is this team going? And then
also you can get an idea, especially with some of
these new coaches in eight different places around the NFL,
you get an idea of what those coaches look like

(58:15):
heading up an NFL team, whether it's for the first
time or maybe a second time around for some of
these guys.

Speaker 2 (58:20):
All right, so again it's halftime. The Ravens lead the
Commanders by a score of seventeen to ten. Meanwhile, right
before the half, the Colts have gotten a field goals,
so they are tied with the Titans ten to ten
nineteen seconds to go in the half. There After, a
good star Flacco cooled off tremendously. Colt's going to get
much going, and so they are tied to ten and

(58:41):
the Cardinals finally get on the scoreboard. They still trail
the Packers by a score of twenty four to seven.
Kyler Murray in this game, just four of nine sixty
three yards. He did throw a touchdown pass to Michael Wilson.
But the other thing about the Cardinals right now is
their running game is non existent. James not much of
a day, only twenty four yards on the ground. Murray's

(59:03):
been held in check, so Green Bay could not be better.
Jordan Love fourteen of nineteen, one hundred and eighty four yards,
three touchdown passes in the first half. And a big
difference for this Packer team is Josh Jacobs. You know,
I mean, all of a sudden, you got a guy
Josh Jacobs. We know he is approven running back in
this league, led the league in rushing a couple of
years ago. So amazing. How much better a quarterback looks

(59:25):
when he actually has some semblance of a running game.

Speaker 4 (59:28):
Oh yeah, yeah, well, I mean look at Lamar Jackson.
He's benefited his entire career because the Baltimore Ravens have
always made sure to have a capable running back flanking
him in the backfield.

Speaker 1 (59:41):
His style of play.

Speaker 4 (59:42):
Really is suited with a good running game as well.
Same thing happening with the Commanders in Cliff Kingsbury's offense
in Washington. You know, when you have a good running
back who can help take some of the pressure off,
which is why it is a little confounding that the
New York Jets haven't found a way to make it
work with Aaron Rodgers playing alongside Breese Hall, because he
has shown the goods he's he's a talented running back

(01:00:05):
at this league level. But again, maybe we'll have to
wait a little bit longer to see if they can
get that thing going in the right direction. Yeah, By
and large, running backs are absolutely the pressure release that
a young quarterback especially needs to have success in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
All right, we have history made in New England. Drake
May has just thrown a forty yard touchdown pass with
eleven seconds to go in the half to get New
England on the board as they trail Houston fourteen to seven. Obviously,
the Patriots are hoping this will be the first of
some six hundred touchdown passes that Drake May throws in

(01:00:44):
his Patriots careers. Are rookie numbers. Yeah, so there you go.
But then, I mean, right before they have a forty
yard touchdown pass.

Speaker 4 (01:00:51):
Yeah, Well, the one thing that they were complaining about openly.
In fact, Rod Mayo said at a postgame press conference,
was they were not able to push the ball down
the field. They were having a hard time, whether by
scheme or because Jacobi Prissec couldn't get it done throwing
the football vertically. Well, Drake may he did it his
entire college career. And you saw it there in this

(01:01:12):
great touchdown pass. I mean when you say forty yards,
all forty of those yards were.

Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
Through the air.

Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
I mean this was a ball thrown and caught at
the goal line for six points before the half.

Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
Crazy game of the day. So Tampa Bay had retaken
the lead, and now the Saints have retaken the lead
at seventh place, seventy yard drive, Alvin Kamara with the
touchdown and the Saints lead the Buccaneers. It's twenty seven
to twenty four with almost three minutes left in the half.

(01:01:48):
So if anybody took the over in this game, you've
already won. You can cash your ticket. It's over before
half died. Twenty seven to twenty four. Saints lead the
Buccaneers and bencer Rattler after a little bit of a
slow start, ten of thirteen hundred and thirty seven yards
in a score. The big story here, Baker Midfield's had

(01:02:08):
a good half, except he threw two picks, and that's
how the Saints have got themselves in a position leading
this game twenty seven to twenty four. All right, let's
find out what is trending right now. Monzi is back
and Manzie's been raising her hands a lot, victorious, like
your team must be humming.

Speaker 7 (01:02:27):
It's up and down. I'm not gonna lie to you
up and down.

Speaker 8 (01:02:29):
But I just was excited that Mark and Andrews, you know,
caught his first touchdown pass of the season. That's probably
the latest one that I was happy for. Jordan Love
a hat trick in the first half, just through an interception.
So the Packers are still beating the Cardinals twenty four
to seven. There's one minute to go. Cardinals have the
ball now around midfield. But yeah, Jordan Love with a

(01:02:49):
hat trick and it's just about to be halftime. Sixteen
of twenty two, one hundred and ninety four yards, three
touchdown passes. He shared the love. Jaden Reed Romeo dopts
Christian Watson at halftime.

Speaker 7 (01:02:59):
It's a game in.

Speaker 8 (01:03:00):
Tennessee between the Colts and the Titans. They are tied
at ten apiece the Texans. You just mentioned Drake may
with his touchdown pass for the Patriots, but the Texans
are on top at halftimes.

Speaker 7 (01:03:09):
Still fourteen to seven.

Speaker 5 (01:03:11):
C J.

Speaker 8 (01:03:11):
Stroud has connected already with Tank Dell and Joe Mixon,
who is back.

Speaker 7 (01:03:14):
In the mix today. Yeah, this Buccaneer Saints game. See
Baker Mayfield. I have him. So it's up and down.

Speaker 8 (01:03:19):
It's an emotional roller coaster if you're playing Baker Mayfield.
He has thrown two picks already, but he has also
thrown fo one hundred and seventy five yards and two touchdowns.
And the Buccaneers are losing to the Saints twenty four,
twenty seven, excuse me to twenty four. There's a little
over two minutes to go, and Tampa Bay does have
the ball. The Browns and the Eagles, could they fire
Nick Sirianni at halftime? Like, is that even possible? Because

(01:03:42):
that was yes off a bye week and no Bueno.
Browns and Eagles tied at ten apiece at halftime. Jalen
hurt Seine of sixteen one hundred and thirty seven yards
one a touchdown so far, the Commanders and Ravens. It's
the Ravens on top, seventeen to ten at halftime. Zay
Flowers for Baltimore nine catches one hundred and thirty two yards.

Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
I know, it's unbelievable. House is heating up, Yeah for sure.

Speaker 8 (01:04:07):
Now the AP College Football poll has dropped. Texas remained
remains at number one, Oregon moved up to number two,
Penn State moved up to number three, Ohio State four,
Georgia number five.

Speaker 7 (01:04:21):
Oklahoma out of the top twenty five. Yeah, well you know.

Speaker 8 (01:04:25):
They lost due Also thirty one point vic three for Texas,
So Oklahoma out of the top twenty five.

Speaker 7 (01:04:31):
Army and Navy in the top twenty five.

Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
Wow.

Speaker 7 (01:04:35):
Yeah, for the first time since nineteen sixty.

Speaker 2 (01:04:38):
To get both in the top.

Speaker 8 (01:04:39):
In the top twenty five. Yeah, Navy is twenty five,
Army is twenty three.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
That is amazing.

Speaker 7 (01:04:43):
Yeah good so yeah, good for that.

Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
I know, ye Servan schools. I'd love to see them
out there.

Speaker 4 (01:04:49):
Meanwhile, air Force, did you watch any of the New
Mexico Air.

Speaker 1 (01:04:53):
Force game last night? No?

Speaker 7 (01:04:55):
Shit, we have.

Speaker 4 (01:04:56):
The Air Force is off to uh let's but they're
not playing like armire Navy this year.

Speaker 7 (01:05:02):
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
Well Mantzie, thank you very much. By the way, my
guy that is number one in my Heisman poll, I
guess he's number one ambulance Heisman pole. Ashton gent ran
for another two hundred and seventeen yards last night as
Boise State beat Hawaii. It's actually a tougher game than
maybe Boise he was expecting. For much of the game
Hawaii actually played pretty well. But I mean, this guy,

(01:05:26):
at least in my book, especially with Travis Hunter getting
hurt yesterday for Colorado. Obviously, you know, with Dylan Gabriel,
you know, leading Oregon to a victory over Ohio State
gets him in the conversation. But Rich, obviously you are
in that Mountain West Conference. By the way, the San
Diego State Aztecs just running away with that conference right
now after another big win. But it looks like this

(01:05:48):
Ashton Genty, barring injury, could literally run away with the
Heisman and be the first running back to win the
Heisman since Derrick Henry back in twenty fifteen.

Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
He's sensation, And uh yeah, I'll get to see him
in person up in Boise on a Friday night here
in November I'm looking forward to that meeting between San
Diego State and Ashton Genty because really the story has
been all about him.

Speaker 1 (01:06:14):
No, don't get me wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:06:15):
The Smurf Turf and they have a pretty decent quarterback,
and there's other things going on in Boise, I'm sure,
but it's all Ashton Genty.

Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
With the way he's been towed in the rock.

Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
You gotta watch it. If you haven't seen this guy, right,
you've heard about him. He's, you know, like five foot nine,
he's thick, right. I would never compare anybody to Barry Sanders,
but he has that kind of like one step explosiveness,
like if he sees daylight, he just goes. I mean,
he's just like gone. He had a fifty four yard

(01:06:46):
touchdown yesterday. It was very similar where it's look like,
you know, this might be a four or five, six, seven,
eight yard play and then all of a sudden, he
puts his foot down and he's off to the races
and nobody is going to catch him. He came into
the game yesterday averaging ten point nine yards of carry. Yeah,
averaging Yeah, that was like ninety five carries for over

(01:07:08):
a thousand yards.

Speaker 4 (01:07:09):
And also he's done it against some of the top
tier talent in the country Oregon. Yes, when Boisse State
went on the road to Oregon or lost by three
by three points, that's right. But Ashton Jenty had one
hundred and ninety two yards on the ground with three touchdowns.
He had a seventy yard touchdown rush during that game.

(01:07:30):
He averaged over seven yards per carry. I mean, he's good.
He's good against anybody. So this this guy, I mean,
he has to be the favorite to win the Heisman.

Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
It reminds me Barry Sanders year where Oklahoma State. You
know that was in the old Big Eight days when
Oklahoma Nebraska owned that conference and that Oklahoma State team
only lost two games, both to Oklahoma and Nebraska. But
in both those games, even losses, he had huge numbers.
So it was just like, it doesn't matter who this
guy plays, he's going to get it done. So yeah,

(01:08:00):
Ashton Genty Boise State could well be on his way
to winning the Heisman Trophy this year. Meanwhile, the Cardinals,
right before the half, they were down twenty four to
nothing in this game to the Packers. They now have
a third and six at the Packer twenty yard line,
so trying to get some points there to at least
make it possible for a second half comeback. I want

(01:08:21):
to get back to this Patriots game for a second here,
and Drake May just boom out of nowhere, just as
soon as I started talking about their negative offensive stats again,
I can ignite anybody in literally a snap of a thing.
You know, there's eleven seconds left and a half the
boom forty yard touchdown pass. Yeah, I mean, just like that.

Speaker 11 (01:08:41):
I was.

Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
I was like, you know, okay, it had been a
terrible first half and Drake May makes that throw, and
you know how it is rich you're a team. Imagine
being an offensive lineman on this Patriots team. It was
a bad team last year. Coaching change made not a
good team this year. Now you throw the rookie in
a quarterback against a pretty good team, obviously, the Houston Texans,

(01:09:03):
and just one play like that, especially going into halftime,
can change the whole dynamic of that team as they
come out in the second half.

Speaker 4 (01:09:11):
Yeah, there's no question about it. Look, I got to
call a Holiday Bowl. I was broadcasting when Drake May
faced the Oregon Ducks back in what was that twenty
twenty two?

Speaker 1 (01:09:20):
I guess, and I.

Speaker 4 (01:09:22):
Was impressed back then as I am now with his arm.
I mean, he has just incredible arm talent. You saw
it on that throw down the sideline for the score
in that game against Houston. You're going to see it
throughout the season. Now he can make real throws. Now,
the question is can he have an understanding of the
offense and what the Patriots are trying to do? Have

(01:09:42):
they worked with him getting route concepts that he's comfortable
throwing too, like he did in college. That the things
are communicated in a way that simplifies it for Drake
May so he can go out there and react and
play instead of overthinking things.

Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
That's a really.

Speaker 4 (01:09:59):
Important part of this process that I think sort of
doesn't get spoken about enough. When quarterbacks think and when
they're over analyzing, they oftentimes throw interceptions, or they hold
onto the ball too long and they get sacked, or
they don't know where to go with the protection call,
and then they lose track of the play clock and
then you have to burn a time out early and

(01:10:19):
a half or you end up running out of time
and getting a delay of game. All of those little
miscues they can be blamed on the quarterback shore and
some of them are the quarterback's fault. These are things
that maybe they've already had down.

Speaker 1 (01:10:32):
For a while.

Speaker 4 (01:10:33):
But sometimes it's the coach. Sometimes it's the offensive coordinator
trying to do too much. You have to present a
very complex surface to the defense you're playing against, but
you have to simplify things for a young quarterback so
he can just go out there and play football.

Speaker 1 (01:10:49):
And right now it looks like he's out there playing
football for the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (01:10:52):
Yeah, and again he's like Josh Allen. Right, he's a
big quarterback, he has a big arm, and he's able
to run the football well. Couple of carries fifteen yards.
He had an eleven yard run in this game. So
he has those qualities as a quarterback. And if New
England can fully, you know, embrace all the things he

(01:11:13):
can do on a football field, they could be a
much better team. So his first half, thanks to the
touchdown pass pretty respectable eight of fourteen hundred and five yards.
He had an interception early, the touchdown late. Two carries
for fifteen yards. Meanwhile, on the other side, CJ. Stroud
eleven to seventeen, only one hundred and four yards passing a
couple of touchdowns, had an interception there. All right, I'm
watching what could this be the last half of coaching

(01:11:36):
for Nick Sirianni with the Eagles right now ten to ten.
They have just started the third quarter, and the Browns
have the ball first, and they've already driven into Philadelphia territory.
They have a second and four right now at the
Philly thirty two yard line, and I just want to
you know, we just talked about how the Drake may
touchdown pass before the half, because you know, it's really

(01:11:58):
ignite that locker room. I don't think the Eagles locker
room was after the block field goal for a touchdown
for the Browns. How let go?

Speaker 1 (01:12:06):
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
I mean, if you're Sirianni, what do you say.

Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
Things like that?

Speaker 4 (01:12:10):
They honestly have an enormous effect on a team, because
we always talk about in squad meetings leading up to
games and even on the sideline or pregame right before
you go out there, Hey, listen, we're gonna be tough
here in the second quarter, going in at halftime, especially
when you're giving your opponent the ball or you want
to score. You want to bracket the half with scorers.

(01:12:32):
This way, you can have a fourteen point swing in
the middle of the game. And that's exactly what the
Browns did, you know, potentially, as they're driving now with
the ball starting the second half, and that's exactly what
you're trying to prevent. If you're the Philadelphia Eagles, special
teams let them down, leads to a score. The Browns
absolutely needed that score because they've been listless offensively, and

(01:12:52):
so you get on the board there and if that
ignites their offense enough, all of a sudden, the Philadelphia
Eagles are in a dog fight and they have looked
like they didn't get off the bus in the first half.

Speaker 2 (01:13:02):
All right, So the Browns are gonna line up for
a field goal right now. This is going to be
a fifty two yard field goal to try to give
the Cleveland Browns the lead on the road against the Eagles.
And the kick is no good. It is missed, So
ten ten it remains Eagles and Browns. All right, we
roll on here. Second half's underway already around the NFL

(01:13:25):
six games to talk about. This is Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 13 (01:13:29):
Twenty five seconds remaining, second quarter, fifty seven yard field
goal try high snap is down. Elliott blocked, Miles blocked,
it picked up by the Browns running down the sideline.

Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
Rodney McCleod Dee may.

Speaker 14 (01:13:41):
Go summersault into the end zone, touch down Brown.

Speaker 2 (01:13:48):
That's the Browns Radio network. That was the block kicker
right before the half that resulted in a ten ten tie.
Browns try to take the lead, but missed the field goals.
So we are now ten ten still Brown and Eagles
nine minutes to go in the third quarter in that game.
Once again, this is Red Zone Radio. Steve Hartman and
Rich Hornberger with you. We are live from the tirerack

(01:14:09):
dot Com studios. All right, let's give you a quick
rundown of the scores right now. At halftime, Packers lead
the Cardinals twenty four to ten. Second half just underweight.
Titans and Colts are tied to ten. Also just underway
in the second half, Texans lead the Patriots twenty one
to seven. It's at the half. Saints lead the Buccaneers
twenty seven to twenty four. We mentioned the Browns and

(01:14:30):
Eagles tied to ten, and the Ravens have a seventeen
to thirteen League Commander's just got a fueld goal just
underway there in the second half. So the story so
far has been a crazy game between the Saints and
the Buccaneers, a inept game between the Browns and the Eagles,
to say the least. We haven't talked a lot about

(01:14:50):
this Colts Titans game rich As we mentioned Joe Flacco
back in at quarterback today, It's been a pretty ordinary
day for him. On the other side, you have Will Levis,
who he has ten for fourteen fifty six yards. I
don't know what his yards per attempt is this year,
but it's got to be pathetic. He does have one
touchdown pass in this game, but they're just not getting

(01:15:12):
the ball down the field. We knew this was going
to be a struggle year for the Titans. But the
question again is do you continue to move forward with
Will Levis or is that going to be a priority
one to try to find a quarterback in the draft.

Speaker 4 (01:15:28):
We looked to the draft and you don't want to
get it wrong this many times at quarterback consecutively. But
if you think about where the Titans have selected quarterbacks,
it was a second round selection for Malik Willis and
now Will Levis same thing, another second round selection. So

(01:15:48):
you haven't in terms of draft capital really overspent. Now,
you don't want to miss on second rounders because, as
you know, Steve, you've been following the game forever. I've
played in the game. Many second rounders. They are actual
NFL starters and Pro Bowlers and all pro players.

Speaker 2 (01:16:04):
I mean, so you're counting on them to be at
the very least starters.

Speaker 4 (01:16:09):
At the very least you're counting on them to be starters.
But many of these players, they blossom into some of
the best players in the league. So it almost feels
like you're getting a first rounder on a value And unfortunately,
both of those starting quarterbacks, at least in Tennessee look
kind of like the value menu options. They're they show
glimpses of being great. They show you that maybe they

(01:16:32):
could be great, but they weren't ready. So they moved
on from Malik Willis, and it looks like they'll do
the same with will Levis unless he really turns the
season around for Tennessee.

Speaker 2 (01:16:41):
All right, Ravens on the move right now. They have
moved deep into Commanders. Tore Ravens lead this game. Seventeen thirteen,
Lamar Jackson had a run that was a design quarterback run.
It wasn't some kind of scramble. It was snapped to
Lamar Jackson and he just took off on a long run.
And this is again the dynamic in his game that

(01:17:01):
just separates him from all the other quarterbacks, his ability
to run the football. And you think back to the
Michael vic days. It wasn't just that Michael Vick was
fast and he knew how to run like a running back.
That's right, and that is exactly how Lamar Jackson is.
They understand the dynamics of running. They're not scrambling, they're
actually running. And what a bonus that is to any

(01:17:23):
kind of offense. So the Ravens now a second and
eight at the Washington nine yard line.

Speaker 4 (01:17:27):
Yeah, when you have a mobile quarterback who knows how
to make tacklers miss in the open field, what you
have is a whole nother dimension that defenses need to
worry about. So you can't rush the way you like
to rush. You can't blitz the way you like to blitz.
Because if you leave your defense and man coverage all
the day, all day long, what happens, Well, soon as
the mobile quarterback like Lamar Jackson, who can break tackles

(01:17:50):
breaks contain his eyes are downfield and if you have
one man coverage player slip up or lose track of
his receiver. Were talking about an explosive play down field,
and so it changes everything. And Lamar has been I mean, now,
durability has been an issue, but he has played when
he's healthy at an MVP level every season he's been

(01:18:12):
healthy for. And so the Ravens with Derrick Henry in
the backfield, who's kind of off the scrap heap when
he signed with Baltimore, and and the fact that they've stayed,
you know, consistent with the way they've coached up Lamar
Jackson like, Hey, we're not gonna ask you to pump
the ball down the field. We're not gonna ask you
to be a vertical quarterback. We're gonna ask you to
be involved in the run game. We're gonna ask you

(01:18:33):
to complete pass his close to line of scrimmage. Let's
go win a whole bunch of ball games. That's exactly
what the Baltimore Ravens do.

Speaker 2 (01:18:38):
All right. So on a third and long play, Lamar
Jackson scrambled, he threw the ball out of the end zone.
There was a hold against the Ravens. That penalty will
be declined, so the Ravens now will attempt a field goal.
Leading this game by a score of seventeen to a thirteen.
Eagles have the ball back after the Brown missfield goal

(01:19:01):
and they're trying to move right now. Jalen Hurts ten
of eighteen one hundred and forty four yards not great,
but remember he started the game zero for five h
so at least they're showing some light there. And we
failed to mansion After the Patriots got that touchdown to
cut the halftime lead to fourteen to seven against the Texans.
The Texans came back at the start of the third

(01:19:22):
quarter and they got the score on the What was
that play was?

Speaker 1 (01:19:28):
It was?

Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
What happened was the Patriots fumbled the ball and then
the Texans got the touchdown, and that was I forget
the play here? What is it there? All right? I'm
gonna find this before we get to the top of
the ark. Can I do this well? Cutting down three
seconds three could not figure it out. Texans lead that
game twenty who won seven at the steph third quarter?

(01:19:50):
There it is Stephan eggs.

Speaker 5 (01:19:54):
Leve Us delay hand off hollar of the twenty hollered
to the fifteenth, Hollered at the tenth, Hollard to the dig.

Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
The Hits touchdown Titans on third and nineteen. Tony Collard
gets it all it did's so that's WGFX one O
four point five Titans Radio Network. Titans take the lead
over the Colts seventeen to ten inside six minutes ago
in the third quarter of that game. This is Red

We're gonna help get you there and on Matt's selection

all the scores going on with the six games going

(01:20:43):
on right now. Coming up a little bit later on
the Atlanta Falcons sitting at three and two. Kirk Cousins
playing well on the road against well a Carolina Panthers
team that's just trying to find their way. And on
the call is a man that Rich I share memories
with going back to the nineteen eighties when you were born. Okay,
this is how that my former partner in crime here

(01:21:04):
at Fox Sports Radio, the great Chris Myers, is joining
us right now. Chris, how are you today, man?

Speaker 10 (01:21:09):
I'm good and it's good to be on with you. Yes,
we work together at Rich. We still survived, still going.

Speaker 2 (01:21:14):
Yes, back when Chris came out to the West Coast
and I was still working with the LA Raiders. That's
how far back it goes with Myers and Hartman. But Chris,
let's talk about this game and start with this Panthers team.
You know, the knock defenders of Bryce Young, and both
Rich and I really were trying to defend Bryce Young
was that he didn't have a lot of talent around him.

(01:21:36):
And then all of a sudden, Andy Dalton gets inserted
and their offense look very, very different. So what's the
mood right now around this Panthers organization.

Speaker 10 (01:21:46):
Well, they're still trying to figure out the quarterback situation,
which is sad because you invested so much in Bryce
Young and with a head coaching change, so an offensive
philosophy change. He had already been through three different offenses
coming into this year with the coaching change last year
when Frank Reich was fired and brought in to builds
him up, so Dalton gave him the best chance to win.

(01:22:09):
That's a cliche, but I think that the other players
on the team got tired of, you know, busting their
butts defense and then running routes on offense and having
a quarterback again not all his fault, but not deliver
the ball or turn it over and put them in
a hole. So at one in four they are playing
to try to stay in games and be competitive, but
they still haven't decided as Bryce Young their quarterback of

(01:22:31):
the future. We know Andy Dalton is not, but in
the meantime, he's just trying to help them hang in
there in the NFC South, in a division that Atlanta
is obviously watching that crazy New Orleans Tampa game because
they came into the day as the leaders in the
division and hope to stay there with a win here
on the road.

Speaker 4 (01:22:47):
Yeah, Atlanta with two straight wins against NFC South foes,
looking for their third straight against Carolina today. Both of
those games though Chris really tight. How has Atlanta been
able to win in crunch time.

Speaker 1 (01:23:03):
What's the ethos there?

Speaker 10 (01:23:05):
Well, I think it's Kirk Cousins and having just what
we talked about with Carolina, and you notice teams that
don't have a veteran quarterback who's been there and experienced,
who know how to win close games with at the
Falcons every game this year, all five have been one
scoring games, and the Pittsburgh loss seems like years ago.
And their offense has really grown a lot in that time,

(01:23:26):
especially in the back to back games and Cousins coming
off that five hundred yard passing performance, so they feel
like their offense with it is gelling together now with
the talent they have, they can run the ball a
little bit more efficiently. In fact, you know, you could
make it an argument Rich that this offense potentially could
be one of the best in the NFC if all

(01:23:46):
of the working parts, you know, with Moody and Drake
London coming off a career best game, Cousins at the
controls against something they haven't had since Matt Ryan retired.

Speaker 2 (01:23:55):
I know a lot of people who were shocked when
Raheem Morrison now Bill Belichick got that job in Atlanta. Chris,
you know Raheem Morris obviously from his first head coaching
run with Tampa Bay back in the day. Give us
a little sense of how he was then and how
he is now and how maybe he is I don't know,
evolved as a head coach to get the Falcons off

(01:24:17):
to this winning start.

Speaker 10 (01:24:18):
Yeh, Steve, and he has evolved, and he'll admitted to
you when he ran the bus and it was a
takeover of post Gruden and he was young and maybe
not as disciplined himself or with his team and grew
from that. And I think an advantage she'll say is
he's coached since on both sides of the ball. He's
been a defensive coordinator with the Rams. He was a
receivers coach in Atlanta in between. In fact, he was

(01:24:40):
an interim head coach for Atlanta when they had a
coaching change before they hired Arthur Smith and thought he
might get the job then. So they remember him in
bringing him back, and they wanted somebody to fit into
the organization that was a likable guy, but an experienced guy,
and Raheem brought all of that. He really relates well
to his players. I guess the one thing is he
two nights. Can he be tough when he needs to be? Well,

(01:25:01):
that's what assistant coaches are for. And he brought a
lot of familiar face especially on offense with Zach Robinson
from the Sean McVay offense, and that's the kind of
offense that they want to run, which makes Kirk Cousins happy.
And Raheem at his hard is more of a defensive guy,
but he certainly is well appreciated, and I think with
the talent they have on this team now, the defense
hasn't played its best, especially up front. They got to

(01:25:23):
stop the run. They're giving up one hundred and forty
yards a game, and he's admitted that, he said, that's
something we're going to have to work on. But Jesse
Bates in the second area are solid, and I think
I think Raheem's been really a good situation and very
popular among Atlanta fans so far and ownership as well.

Speaker 4 (01:25:39):
The one in four Carolina Panthers will be hosting the
Atlanta Falcons later on on Fox, Chris Myers joining us.
He'll be on the call for the game. You mentioned
that Morris has this upbeat personality, super positive. Dave Canal
has kind of labeled the same way, super upbeat guy.
Trying to keep this team afloat after a two win
season last year, only one win to speak of this year.

(01:26:01):
Do you think it's working with Canalis in Carolina?

Speaker 10 (01:26:04):
Well, it's too early to judge, but it isn't working
because of what already the way the quarterback situation is handled.
And what's unknown is whether that was all his call
or ownership said let's get Dalton out there so that
we don't embarrass ourselves. And where are we going with
Bryce Young? I mean he can he develop with that
investment or do we really need to move on from that?
But Canalis, you're around him, and you spend time. This

(01:26:25):
was a rapid rise for him.

Speaker 1 (01:26:26):
Rick.

Speaker 10 (01:26:26):
It was a little bit of a surprise, all those
years kind of in the shadows as an assistant. Just
one year finally late in his career he gets an
oc chance offensive coordinated with Tampa and Baker Mayfield. They
hit it off and then all of a sudden he's
a head coach and a place where some people didn't
want to take the job in Carolina for various reasons.
So he's still positive, but that can only last so

(01:26:47):
long if you don't produce wins, regardless of who your
quarterback is or how positive you want to be.

Speaker 2 (01:26:53):
When you are the loser of the magnitude, the Panthers
have become under the ownership of David Tapper. Obviously he's
been sacked ever since he took over ownership. I don't
know much about Tepper other than obviously he has a
huge bank account. He seems rather impulsive, considering there I
had six head coaches under his regime. Does there seem

(01:27:13):
to be a group around him of advisors? Are they
just yes people? Does he have anybody that can basically say, look,
we got to give this Canal, this guy an opportunity.
We can't be this impatient. It just doesn't worked that
way in the NFL. Or who exactly if anyone has
the ear of David Tepper.

Speaker 10 (01:27:33):
Well, that's a good question, and I think that's part
of the problem here. You change gms, somebody else took
a fall for a draft decision that really wasn't his fault.
Your current GM is probably not the right guy, although
he picks Dave Canal as the coach, So you need
to bring those guys in together, the coach, the general
manager under the ownership. And look, Tepper has been successful

(01:27:55):
in business. He was a minority owner of the Steelers,
so you thought he would have had a grasp what
put it take to build an organization, and he is trying.
I'll give him that, and maybe he's a little impatient,
but he's got to hire the right people together and
then let them do their job together. I think, if
you really want to build something here, and so far
we haven't seen this, not without a lack of trying.
I just think it's maybe a lack of maybe not

(01:28:17):
picking the best people, or interference from a group of
people that aren't working together.

Speaker 4 (01:28:22):
With some fireworks with close wins over divisional opponents, draft
day sort of feels like a distant memory in Atlanta.
But Draft Day did happen, and the Atlanta Falcons, after
signing Kirk Cousins to a rather large quarterback contract this offseason,
traded up and drafted Michael Pennis Junior.

Speaker 1 (01:28:40):
So how early of.

Speaker 4 (01:28:42):
A hook could Kirk Cousins have if things do start
going sideways in Atlanta? And also, how has Michael Penix
Junior's development been sort of behind the scenes here.

Speaker 10 (01:28:54):
Yeah, he hadn't played it all yet in the regular season.
I think again, in just won preseason game. It's funny
Rich on a day when we have five different rookie
quarterbacks starting from Spencer Ratler to Bownicks to Drake may
Penix is just going to sit and wait. And if
Cousins keeps keeps having games like he had in that
Thursday night game, the primetime game when he threw for
over five hundred yards against the Buccaneers and won that

(01:29:17):
game late, then I don't know if FedEx will see
the field for a while.

Speaker 3 (01:29:20):
Now.

Speaker 10 (01:29:20):
The key is what about health, and I think that
may have been part of it, even though it was
still a mystery to take a high pick on a
quarterback when you invested so much in Cousins. But his
achilles is better, but still not to the point where
he can roll. You know, he used to do a
lot of those boots and rollouts in Minnesota, and that's
still not there. So he's going to stay in the pocket,
take the hits which he has done, deliver the ball.

(01:29:41):
But if there is an injury there or some relapse
in that part, so far, so good on the healing
for Cousins, but it's just going to be a slower
progressive step there. And so if you hear where to
get hurts, he'd at least have a guy to step in,
a young guy who is learning the right kinds of
things from a true professional. But Kirk Cousins is a
big hit in Atlanta, especially in the last two games,

(01:30:03):
and that's where they feel like their offense is coming
together with him. But still some would say, hey, you
could have used that tenth pick instead of a quarterback
for the future on a big defensive star at a
pass rusher, which really Atlanta needs. They only have five
sacks this year, which is the fewest in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:30:18):
All right, it'll be the Falcons on the road against
the Panthers, big game there in the NFC South. And
thinking about Chris, our first meeting all those years ago,
and Rich was in the playpen, sitting in the same room.
It was unreal that we are all the first time
we were all there together at that time. But Chris
always great to talk to you, all the best of
you and your family, and we'll talk again down the road.

Speaker 10 (01:30:40):
As I always say, I tried cryogenics, you know, to
freeze my look, and they froze my career instead.

Speaker 2 (01:30:45):
I know.

Speaker 5 (01:30:47):
The feeling great.

Speaker 10 (01:30:49):
Talking to you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
All right there, he is great, Chris Myers, all right,
com out up on the other side. We'll get you
updated on the six games going on around the NFL.
Right now, by the way, we're going to the fourth quarter.
Colt's trailing the Titans seventeen to ten. I have a
fourth and goal at the Tennessee four. He can tell
we got some exciting finishes coming up. Keep it here.
This is red Zone Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:31:08):
Heading we alone to the back field. He'll get the
carry up.

Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
The middle, pig hole, touch down to the cane. Derek
Henry strikes again and the Ravens extender lead. That's ninety
eight Rock Ravens Radio Network, Dereck Henry. A couple of
touchdowns today, seventy six yards on the ground. Ravens lead
the Commanders twenty seven to thirteen. Sarr of the fourth quarter.

(01:31:30):
Commanders now with a second ten at the Ravens thirteen
yard line. So I mentioned earlier, I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:31:35):
Know why I always do this.

Speaker 2 (01:31:37):
You know, a three to three game wears all this
points and now they're rolling to an obvious This is
why there are certain people that are odds makers, and
they they're very wealthy people because they actually know what
they're doing, right, and why I don't gamble any of
my money because I understand I have absolutely no idea
what I'm talking about? All right, once again, this is

(01:31:58):
Red Zone Radio Steve Hartman and Rich Army with you
live from the tire Rach doc on studios. Again, Rich,
just quickly a rundown of the scores. Right now, Packers
lead the Cardinals thirty one to thirteen, three minutes to
go in the third quarter. There, Titans over the Colts
seventeen thirteen. We've got thirteen minutes to go in the fourth,
minute to go in the third quarter, and the Patriots

(01:32:19):
have scored. They still trail the Texans by a score
of twenty seven to fourteen. Second half quiet so far
in this shootout game of the first half between the
Saints and the Bucks. Still twenty seven to twenty four,
eight minutes to go in the third. There Eagles and
Browns are tied at thirteen, nine and a half minutes
to go in the fourth quarter. And as I mentioned,
the Commanders now with a third and ten at the

(01:32:42):
Baltimore thirteen yard line, trailing the Ravens by a score
of twenty seven to thirteen. That game actually is sort
of playing out the way I thought. Lamar Jackson's had
a big day seventeen to twenty three, two hundred and
seventy nine yards of the year. I knew the Ravens
were going to score, and the question was, you know,
Jayden Dan, this is the biggest test that he has
had yet, you know, on the road against the Ravens,

(01:33:05):
and he hasn't been terrible. It's just that you know,
his his team, the Commanders. I mean, when when this
is all said and done, assuming that the Ravens can
hang on here, when you look at the NFC East,
obviously we'll have the Cowboys later on hosting the Detroit Lions,
you have the Giants, and obviously we have the Eagles
right now in this tie against the Browns. Where do

(01:33:29):
you think the Commanders fit right now in terms of
who could come out on top when it's all said
and done in the NFC East.

Speaker 1 (01:33:36):
I think the Commanders could win the division. I really,
honestly do.

Speaker 4 (01:33:40):
I think that what we've seen from Dallas has been
a little inconsistent, and we'll see them against a very
good NFC competitor tonight, very similar to the Commanders facing
an AFC competitor tonight. You know, obviously, the class of
the NFC from leftover from last year is the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 1 (01:33:59):
And I'm really curious to see what this game looks
like tonight against Dallas.

Speaker 4 (01:34:03):
But Dallas really feels like the big Impass because the
Philadelphia Eagles have plummeted after starting a double digit win
season last year, losing six straight and then starting this
season looking awfully off kilter. And so the Commanders, I mean,
everything's in front of them. You have a talented rookie quarterback,

(01:34:26):
you have weapons around him offensively, a strong running game,
a defense against obviously against the Baltimore Ravens, they're getting
their flaws exposed that can't stop the run, but they've
been opportunistic in other games. I think it's possible, conceivable
to see the Commanders win this division.

Speaker 2 (01:34:44):
By the way, it's early, very early right now. The
rookie class of quarterbacks looking pretty good. Caleb Williams is
certainly improving. We talked about Jaden Daniels Drake May's first
game today. Even though they're trailing twenty seven to fourteen,
Tina twenty two hundred and eighty two yards, two touchdowns
and a pick. Those are good numbers. Bo Nicks, after

(01:35:05):
a slow start, suddenly has the Broncos city in at
three and two, and obviously we're still waiting on Michael
Pennock and JJ McCarthy. So I mean this as bad
as the class looks from twenty twenty one, and that's
that just three years ago, and after Trevor Lawrence today,
I mean wow, I mean that could go down as
one of the worst quarterback classes of all time. And

(01:35:26):
by the way, it's not a knock on their individual talents,
because so much of being a successful quarterback in this
league is to be on the right team at the
right time, in the right system. So much of it is.
It doesn't mean they don't have talent. Obviously they have talent,
but is it the right system to fully amplify the
talent that they have. But the early returns on this

(01:35:47):
year's quarterback class looks promising.

Speaker 1 (01:35:50):
Yeah, I agree with that.

Speaker 4 (01:35:51):
And to your point about Drake May, I actually, at
our show break broadcasting from home here went to see
if I could find my notes from the ball in
twenty twenty two when UNC was facing the Oregon Ducks
at Peco Park, and I found my notes and one
of the things I wrote down during the game about
Drake May that I noticed because you can see things

(01:36:13):
on film, but you know the film copy. You know,
you're looking at plays, you're not looking at the whole environment.
You're not seeing every moment on the field. And what
I wrote down in game about Drake May is he
plays football like he hates to lose. There are certain
quarterbacks who go out there and you know that it's
important to them, but they don't seem all that bothered

(01:36:37):
when a play doesn't go their way.

Speaker 1 (01:36:39):
But Drake May, he was fired up and he was gutsy.

Speaker 4 (01:36:43):
He rushed the ball twelve times that day for something
like forty yards, and he threw for over two hundred
and three passing touchdowns. And it wasn't a perfect performance,
there's no doubt about that. But what he did is
he fought. He fought from whistle to whistle. And in
a time period where there are certain starting quarterbacks you
know who you know, may come up limping and not

(01:37:04):
want to play in there, you know, and their their
their bowl games. And he was younger then, so that
really wasn't an option for him at the time. But
it was one of the gutsier quarterback performances I remember
seeing that year. And so Drake May what the Patriots
got in third overall draft pick. Is a guy who's
going to fiercely compete and he's going to try hard
to get better at this level.

Speaker 2 (01:37:25):
All right, A couple of touchdowns just put on the board.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have retaken the lead thirty one
to twenty seven of the Saints. Second touchdown pass from
Baker Mayfield to Chris Godwin. Mayfield three touchdowns, three interceptions
on the day, and DeVante Smith. I guess the Browns
decided that DeVante Smith should not be covered. He was
wide open and walks into the end zone, giving the

(01:37:48):
Eagles the lead in their game against the Browns. I
was watching Bo who used to be an Eagles fan.
He's so holding out hope. Maybe the Eagles will be
worth rooting for down the road.

Speaker 6 (01:37:59):
The important on that drive was that aj Brown went
over his seventy one and a half receiving yards.

Speaker 1 (01:38:04):
Wow. Wow, he has completely divorced himself from the Philadelphia
Now I just need I need one catch from Calvin
Ridley and we're sitting pretty today. So yeah, wow, wow,
wow wow.

Speaker 6 (01:38:14):
Let's go Titans.

Speaker 1 (01:38:15):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:38:17):
Meanwhile, it looks like the Commanders have scored. Did they
get in the end zone. Looks like it is that
a catch.

Speaker 6 (01:38:25):
Looks like a touchdown to me.

Speaker 2 (01:38:27):
He's holding on to the ball. They gave it to him. Touchdown.
That's mclauren as second touchdown of the game on the
receiving end there and the extra point for the Commanders
is good. I believe I'm just going to call it
ahead of time here. Every time I do the kiss
of death. Oh barely made it. There was a knuckleball

(01:38:52):
into the lower right corner.

Speaker 1 (01:38:54):
Suck in there.

Speaker 2 (01:38:55):
Unbelievable. All right, So let's give an update on the
passing numbers in this game. We mentioned Lamar Jackson seventeen
to twenty three two hundred seventy nine yards in a score.
Jaydon Daniels twenty two of thirty three, two hundred and
forty seven yards, two touchdowns and no picks. He right
now is every bit as good from a passing stat

(01:39:16):
standpoint as we saw last year from Strap. I mean,
this is the kind of start we remember in his
first four games, Jadan Daniels was completing eighty two percent
of his passes. As insane as that seems, the insanity
is no quarterback in the history of the NFL ever
ever in over one hundred years had ever had a
four game run of eighty two percent completions. No quarterback,

(01:39:41):
much less a quarterback in his first four NFL games.

Speaker 1 (01:39:45):
Yeah, I mean that.

Speaker 2 (01:39:46):
That is such a mind boggling stature. Like, no quarterback
over four gamespan ever completed eighty two percent. Never. Never
this guy did in his first four games.

Speaker 4 (01:39:55):
I mean the throw, and I know it seems a
little routine to Terry mcl lauren, but these are such
tight windows in the NFL. In the low red zone,
the Baltimore Ravens were showing a house blitz they bring
I believe it was only four rushers in bailed and
so it clouds up the picture. He knows exactly where

(01:40:16):
to go with the football on the outbreaking route to
the front corner of the end zone. He puts a
perfect amount of touch. He threw that football before Terry
even put his foot in the ground to make his
break toward the sideline, and it was in the only
spot where Terry McLaurin could catch it away from the defender.
It's not just about picking the right guy to throw
the football too. That's something that Tom Brady Drew brees

(01:40:40):
Peyton Manning, all the greats will tell you. It's about
putting on the correct shoulder, putting in the correct quadrant
of the pass catcher to make sure you keep it
away from the defender or keep the receiver safe from
the defender.

Speaker 1 (01:40:53):
And Jaden Daniels is already doing that his rookie year.

Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
By the way, Jalen Hurts after that, oh for five
start now fourteen to twenty two, two hundred fourteen yards,
two touchdowns. After that forty five yards scoring pass to
Devonte Smith, here's my amazing stats. So Jashaun Watson, same
stats as usual, ten of sixteen, eighty eight yards, no touchdowns.
But here's here's the consistency. It's been sacked five times.
So he came into this game twenty six sacks. That's

(01:41:18):
thirty one sacks, so right on pace of at least
five sacks per game per game. Yeah, that's where it
is right now with this Cleveland Browns team. All right,
let's find out what is trending right now. And Montsi's
been busy keeping track of her multitude of fantasy football teams,
everything going on with the games.

Speaker 8 (01:41:41):
It's very annoying when you have multiple teams because for example,
I have Baker Mayfield in a league, and then in
another league here against Shay, he has Chris Godwin.

Speaker 7 (01:41:53):
So it's like, I'm happy that.

Speaker 8 (01:41:54):
He just threw that touchdown pass to Chris Godwin, but
then I'm playing against him in a different league.

Speaker 7 (01:41:59):
So how am I so supposed to feel?

Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
Well, First of all, I wish they were the listen.
Brian Know was all in on Mike Evans today. Of
course I listened this morning and he was all in
on Mike Evans, so you know, and all of a sudden,
God wins got.

Speaker 8 (01:42:12):
Today, which you know yesterday when we talked about this game,
I mentioned both of those weapons for Baker Mayfield being
the reason why I would take the Buccaneers in the
situation against a rookie quarterback Spencer Ratler, who you know
got his first touchdown pass.

Speaker 7 (01:42:24):
But the Saints have.

Speaker 8 (01:42:25):
Yet to score since scoring twenty seven points in the
second quarter. You know, there was a there was a
scoop and score by Rashisha Heaton that, yes, but they
haven't scored since thence so the Buccaneers are on top
thirty one to twenty seven. Baker Mayfield with two different
hat tricks three interceptions.

Speaker 7 (01:42:41):
And three touchdown passes.

Speaker 1 (01:42:42):
What is he?

Speaker 2 (01:42:43):
Jameis Winston accent faking up?

Speaker 8 (01:42:46):
Pre text me earlier because we both have her, both
have Baker Mayfield in different leaks since she was like,
Baker is not baking, but he's baking.

Speaker 7 (01:42:53):
He's also just not baking all great? You know again,
three interceptions.

Speaker 8 (01:42:58):
The Texans are still on top of the Patriots, but
Drake may has now hit his second touchdown pass, this
time to Hunter Henry. Texans are up. Oh a rushing
touchdown Joe Mixon. Welcome back Joe Mixon for the Texans.
They have extended their leader for the Patriots thirty three
to fourteen early in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 7 (01:43:15):
The Titans still on top of the cold seventeen thirteen.

Speaker 8 (01:43:18):
Halfway through the fourth quarter, Packers Jordan Love did a
hat trick.

Speaker 7 (01:43:21):
And then some how about four touchdown passes.

Speaker 8 (01:43:24):
He's twenty one of thirty two hundred and forty eight
yards four touchdowns.

Speaker 7 (01:43:27):
Packers beating the Cardinals thirty one to thirteen.

Speaker 8 (01:43:30):
Early in the fourth The Cardinals did lose Marvin Harrison
Junior very early on to a concussion.

Speaker 7 (01:43:35):
He never came back. The Browns are losing to the
Eagles twenty to thirteen halfway through the fourth. They are
playing in Philly.

Speaker 8 (01:43:42):
Jalen Hurts fourteen of twenty three, two hundred and fourteen
yards and two touchdowns in that one. Derrick Henry two
rushing touchdowns for the Ravens who are beating the Commanders
twenty seven to twenty.

Speaker 7 (01:43:51):
Early in the fourth quarter. Football dis start in.

Speaker 8 (01:43:54):
London earlier today, Caleb Williams with his hat trick and
then some four touchdown passes as the defeated the Jags
thirty five to sixteen. Chicago is now four and two
still to come today in the NFL.

Speaker 7 (01:44:06):
The Raiders and the.

Speaker 8 (01:44:06):
Steelers wide receiver Jacoby Myers of Las Vegas and running
back some Mere White are officially inactive for that one.
And we do have the WNBA Finals going on. It's
Game two between the Links and the Liberty. The Links
won game one. Right now, the Liberty are up thirty
three to twenty four with about eight minutes to go.

Speaker 7 (01:44:24):
In the first half.

Speaker 2 (01:44:26):
Fact, you guys all right, mont See, Thank you very much.
We'll check in with you a little bit later on.
Once again, this is Red Zone Radio Steve Hartman and
Rich Ormberger.

Speaker 1 (01:44:34):
You know, I we just had this.

Speaker 2 (01:44:36):
Baseball season where Shohyotani fifty to fifty. Right, You're like, wow,
that's that's unbelievable. But I will still say this, Jamis
Winston in twenty nineteen had a thirty thirty thirty three
touchdowns and thirty interceptions by the way through for five
one hundred and nine yards. That year, he led the
league in passing yards and in the five years since then,

(01:44:56):
he's only started a total of ten games. But who
what can you ever see a quarterback do thirty thirty again?

Speaker 1 (01:45:04):
No ever?

Speaker 2 (01:45:05):
I mean because normally if you throw thirty interceptions, you're
not going to be in a position to throw thirty
three touchdown passes. But he started all sixteen games that
year and he pulled it off. So yeah, fifty to
fifty is amazing. But I'd say that thirty thirty at
Jamis Winston holds up over the test of time.

Speaker 1 (01:45:23):
I agree with you. I agree with you one hundred percent.
There's no way that'll ever be beaten.

Speaker 4 (01:45:28):
So just like shohe Otani, yeah, a generational talent, earning
some generational.

Speaker 1 (01:45:34):
Statistics years ago as a starter in Tempao.

Speaker 2 (01:45:36):
Oh by the way, he also had more pick sixes
in that season than any quarterback in the history of
the NFL.

Speaker 1 (01:45:42):
Well, listen, uh, he will find forever that was like
the hat trick right here, you will forever being blazoned
in the annals of NFL history. So there it is.

Speaker 2 (01:45:51):
Well, is he going to get another opportunity to start?
As I mentioned in the last five years with the Saints.
Now with the Browns, he's only started ten games in
the last five years combined. Are the Browns ever going
to turn the page on Deshaun Watson to give Winston
an opportunity if they lose today?

Speaker 1 (01:46:07):
I can't imagine sticking with this same formula, right.

Speaker 4 (01:46:11):
I mean, you're about to face the teeth of your
NFC North schedule with the Bengals. You get to host
them and then going on the road to Baltimore both
those games and consecutive weeks following this Eagles loss potentially.

Speaker 1 (01:46:25):
And you're gonna roll Deshaun Watson out there.

Speaker 4 (01:46:28):
I mean, like you said, Kevin Stefanski won Coach of
the Year last year largely because in spite of all
the changes at quarterback, he was still able to get
the job done. So he may need to have a
replay of last season, moving on from DeShawn if he
could get ownership or the front office to agree it's
what's best for the football team.

Speaker 1 (01:46:49):
And next in is Jamis. We'll see how that goes.

Speaker 4 (01:46:52):
You just mentioned his last year as a full time
starting quarterback with it had its highs and its lows.
So maybe if he can be a little more careful
with the football it'll be better. But right now, if
you're asking me, just based on the current quarterbacks they
have to select from this season, who's the best option,
I would say Jamis Winston because it is not working

(01:47:13):
with DeShawn.

Speaker 2 (01:47:13):
Well, it's working on this drive right now though. So
the Eagles after getting the touchdown from Jalen Hurst to
Devonte Smith, defense, which really is hell completely in check.
Cleveland's only score was on a block field goal run
for a touchdown. Bo I'm watching this Eagles defense suddenly
wilt under the pressure of the passing game led by

(01:47:35):
Deshaun Watson.

Speaker 6 (01:47:36):
It was first in twenty five.

Speaker 2 (01:47:37):
Look at this second half. Deshaun Watson is ten for
ten passing for one hundred and eighteen yards. This is
reminiscent of his last half of last year where he
had a perfect second half, let a Browns comeback, and
then after a game that it was announced he was
out for the season. So right now the Browns have
a second and goal. So and I'm watching Stefanski working

(01:48:00):
it on the sidelines right now. I mean, I like him.
I think he's a hell of a coach. Like you said,
rich was the big thing about last year. You have
to hold that locker room together. Right your quarterback is down.
You're bringing a guy literally off the couch and Joe Flacco,
and yeah, Flacco performed well, but you can't lose the
locker room, and he didn't and Cleveland was able to

(01:48:22):
get it. Meanwhile, the Ravens right now leading the Commanders
twenty seven to twenty. Justin Tucker, future Hall of Famer,
is on the field right now to attempt a field
goal to make this a two score game in favor
of the Ravens. So again for the Eagles, the kick
by Tucker, of course is good. Thirty to twenty. Right now,

(01:48:42):
Ravens lead the Commanders six minutes to go. In the
fourth courter in that game, by the way, Indianapolis has
taken a twenty to seventeen lead. Rich On the road
against the Tennessee Titans. We got seven minutes to go
in the fourth quarter of that game. This has been
a pretty you know, rough game. Joe Flacco has been

(01:49:03):
good enough, you know, let's put it that way, twenty
to thirty five, only one hundred and seventy two yards,
but he does have a couple of touchdown passes in
this game. And for the Colts, again, what we talked
about earlier, just trying to stay in the playoff Conversationshaun
Watson on a keeper is going to come up short
of the goal. There's only four minutes remaining, So this

(01:49:25):
is not a place where the Browns are going to
settle for a field goal. No, this is four down
territory for the Cleveland Browns here.

Speaker 1 (01:49:32):
Absolutely. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:49:33):
Look, you know one thing that you have to remark
on going back to the Colts Tennessee Titans game is
the Colts defense has stepped up. I mean against a
much weaker offense than they've faced recently, but they've been
a lot better in this game, limiting the damage, the yardage,
the points and.

Speaker 1 (01:49:50):
Also Joe Flacco. You know, this offense has been really
really consistently converting third downs. Another good performance on that
very important down of football. Seven of twelve so far
today for the Colts against the Tennessee Titans three of nine,
so Will levis not getting it done in that statistical category. Overall,

(01:50:14):
pretty even day though from the lookout.

Speaker 2 (01:50:17):
Yeah, some of the better days today. Certainly Jordan Love
has had a day twenty one of thirty two hundred
and forty eight yards, four touchdown passes. Wow, as the
Packers fully in command against the Cardinals by a score
of thirty one to thirteen. So it only made sense
that Jordan Love looked a little rusty coming back, but

(01:50:39):
all of a sudden he's now reverting to form that
we saw when he was literally the hottest quarterback in
the NFL in the second half of last season.

Speaker 4 (01:50:47):
Well, and also when Arizona is just giving you gifts
throughout the course of the game. I mean, don't get
me wrong, Jordan Love threw that interception earlier in the game.
But the Falcon or excuse me, the Falcons. The Cards
have fumbled twice this half, which is given green Bay opportunities.
The first one they try the field goal and missed it,

(01:51:08):
and then obviously this current drive going on, green Bay
has the ball. Uh, and they've already driven about fifty yards.

Speaker 2 (01:51:16):
So right now I am looking at this Ravens Commander's game. Okay,
So the Eagles have stopped the Browns on third down,
so we're now looking at fourth and goal. Bow, is
that where we are right now? Fourth and goal for
the Browns down by seven? All right, So that's where
we are right now. We're looking at a fourth and
goal for the Cleveland Browns and they are at the

(01:51:40):
eight yard line of the Eagles. And as I said,
four minutes to go. So on this Commander's Ravens game,
I took the under rich. I'm still winning barely fifty
one and a half was the overrunner right now. I'm
hanging on by a thread right now. All right, here
we go, and this's an illegal procedure call. Can you
believe it? The un tackle? Okay Will's junior there on

(01:52:04):
a false start fall start on fourth down at the
eight yard line. Wow, okay, and he jumped up like
real quick.

Speaker 4 (01:52:13):
So here's the problem. You know, they they got down
to the goal line and kind of abandon what now.

Speaker 2 (01:52:18):
They're going to go for a field goal?

Speaker 1 (01:52:20):
Oh jeez?

Speaker 2 (01:52:20):
All right, three point fifty seven to go, they're not
going to get the ball back. Well wait a second,
and now, first of all, the Browns do have all
three of their timeouts plus the two men in a warning.

Speaker 9 (01:52:30):
Also, I hate to do the math part on this,
but like a field goal doesn't change, you still need
a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:52:37):
Yeah, correct, this is if they go for a field goal.

Speaker 2 (01:52:40):
It will be they're going for a field goal unless
it's a fake.

Speaker 6 (01:52:45):
We're taking aways the Fancies Coach of the Year award.

Speaker 2 (01:52:47):
All right, seriously, so it's twenty to sixteen. I guess
the only difference is is that a touchdown wins the
game and doesn't tie the game.

Speaker 1 (01:52:56):
Yeah, but it's again, a two point conversion wins the game.
You could win the game.

Speaker 2 (01:53:00):
I mean, I understand what you're saying, but I mean
the way at the thirteen yard line. Do you think
they have a play in their arsenal to score from
the thirteen yard line. He obviously doesn't think they did.

Speaker 6 (01:53:09):
Yeah, but you can back the Eagles up to their
goal line and ask Jalen Hurts to drive ninety nine years.

Speaker 2 (01:53:13):
Well again, so the Eagles will get the ball back.
Brounds to have all three of their timeouts and the
two minute warning. They need to stone the Eagles offense
and hold them without a first down. All right, we
roll on to the exciting finishes around the National Football League.
This is Red Zone Radio fourt and goal for the
sixth stat the Jadon Ravens brick five pumps throw toward

(01:53:33):
the second McLaurin touch down.

Speaker 1 (01:53:37):
Touchdown. Wach again.

Speaker 2 (01:53:38):
Daniels comes through again. Shuck, great baby, I guess Cliff Crais,
how better up chet, did you?

Speaker 1 (01:53:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
That's big one hundred Commanders Radio Network Commanders. Still trailing
the Ravens thirty to twenty. However, they have a four
down right now and attempting a forty nine yard field
goal to make the game an over. And it's right
down the middle, and there goes my inner like that,
as simple as just like that, right down the middle,

(01:54:08):
No breath right there. Marcy's happy because I smoked her
last week and now I'm getting it in reversed this week. Yeah,
it's going the other week, that's right.

Speaker 1 (01:54:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:54:19):
So I had one one week out of the year
where everything went my way, and as this is going on,
I picked the Saints upset today against the Buccaneers. That's
not looking so good as the Buccaneers have the lead
thirty one to twenty seven, have a second in goal
right now at the thirteen yard line. By the way,
this is Red Zone Radio Steve Hartman and Rich Orenberger

(01:54:40):
and we are live from the tire rack dot Com studios. Meanwhile,
the gamble of the Browns doesn't look good, so they
decided to go for the field goal with three timeouts
and the two minute warning, and the Eagles right now
have a first down. Actually it's a second eleven right now,

(01:55:00):
they're near midfield, and at this point the Browns only
have one time out left and there goes the two
minute warning. So the Eagles are getting close to closing
out the Browns, leading this game by a score of
twenty to sixteen.

Speaker 4 (01:55:15):
Yeah, yeah, Look, the Browns, if they win this game,
it may save Deshaun Watson's shot because if they see
an efficiency that they haven't seen with Deshaun Watson over
the course of this second half against the Eagles on
the road, they give them a shot against the Bengals

(01:55:36):
next week, hosting the Bengals before they go on the
road to the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 1 (01:55:39):
Like we discussed, if you lose to the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (01:55:43):
It gives you an opportunity to sort of circle the
wagons and say to yourself, all right, we're about to
face a couple of NFC or AFC North opponents here
right in a road consecutively.

Speaker 1 (01:55:55):
Do we really want to do that with the shot?
And if the answer is no, well then you can
kind of have all the excuses.

Speaker 4 (01:56:01):
In the world to pull the plug right now and
to tear the band aid off and to give Jameis
Winston a shot. And if you need to go back
to Deshaun at some point in the season, I guess
you could. But right now, the way he's playing, he
may be saving his job or saving at very least
his starting role on this offense, with the way he's
putting together a second half against the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (01:56:22):
All right, we have just seen Baker may mayfield through
its fourth touchdown pass of the game, extending the Buccaneers
lead kito and right there with the reception there and
so the Buccaneers, waiting on the extra point, have a
thirty seven to twenty seven lead on the road against
the Saints. Strange game where the Saints scored all twenty

(01:56:45):
seven of their points in the second quarter. I have
you ever seen this is their scoring so far? Zero
twenty seven zero zero. Yeah, that is the line on
the Saints scoring.

Speaker 1 (01:56:58):
In this game.

Speaker 2 (01:56:59):
I don't know if that's ever happened before.

Speaker 6 (01:57:00):
I have a question for you guys, and maybe you
can help me. Is there any way possible that we
can take one of the one hundred plus yards that
Aj Brown has and just give it to Calvin Ridley?

Speaker 2 (01:57:11):
How much do you need that?

Speaker 1 (01:57:12):
Right? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:57:13):
Extremely, extremely badly. I just need I literally just need
one yard from Calvin Ridley's.

Speaker 9 (01:57:19):
Speaking of AJ Brown, I believe the Eagles have just.

Speaker 2 (01:57:21):
Put this game.

Speaker 1 (01:57:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:57:22):
AJ Brown just caught an absolute bomb from the jail Leaveland.

Speaker 2 (01:57:25):
No more timeouts to go. Yeah, well that's happening. The
Ravens with that one score lead, just had a huge
run as they are now in a position to put
it away. Good news bad news for the Patriots today.
Drake May three touchdown passes in his first start. The
bad news is the New England defense got completely run

(01:57:47):
over today by the Texans. The Texans with a one
hundred and ninety three yards rushing in this game, Joe
Mixon one hundred and two yards and a score, Damian
Pierce had seventy six yards in a score. They average
a mere seven and a half yards and carry. So
the Patriots defense woeful today as they're getting blown out

(01:58:07):
forty one to twenty one by the Texans, who with
a win today, get to five and one. Rich And
you know, I've been asking our dear friend Adam Kaplan
each week because you know, he's all hyped up on
the Jets. By the way, he's still not willing to
give up on the Jets like you, but he maintained
that they were the number two seed in the AFC.

(01:58:28):
The Chiefs haven't been great this year, but they're undefeated. Yeah. Like, now,
who do you believe is the second best team in
the AFC in the moment right now, in the moment,
right now, Yeah, who's the second best team in the AFC?

Speaker 1 (01:58:41):
I guess I would have to say the Baltimore Ravens.
I guess I would have to say the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 2 (01:58:46):
That's hard to argue with.

Speaker 4 (01:58:47):
Yeah, I mean it's just look, I guess when you
look at a team and you say, okay, how are
they built and where are their flaws? The Baltimore Ravens
are built like a team that can withstand colder other months,
which they're going to need to, especially in the AFC North.
But this is a team that's also built the right
way in terms of surviving some of the bad weather games.

(01:59:09):
They love to run the football, they love to play
great defense, and their special teams are good and that
gives you extra opportunities. So right now, in fact, the
truth is record wise, the Chiefs are the best team
in the AFC, but the Baltimore Ravens have looked better than.

Speaker 1 (01:59:25):
The Chiefs over the course of the season in my eyes,
in my view.

Speaker 2 (01:59:29):
Right and a member again, Texans win today, which they will,
they will have the second best record in the AFC.
So that Larch more coming up as we'll have some
games getting started, will we get an exciting finish?

Speaker 1 (01:59:41):
Find out?

Speaker 2 (01:59:42):
This is red Zone radio.

Speaker 11 (01:59:44):
Kerks takes the d and hands the football to the
official and the rest as academic. As the seconds run
off the clock, Any rebroadcast of this game is expressly
prohibited without the offense for the professional the NFL.

Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
That is a perfect final call there as the Eagles
hang on to beat the Brows by his car. Not
a lot to brag about and that Eagles win. Apparently
what's we are broadcasting live from the tire rag dot
com studios ti rag dot com. We're gonna help get

(02:00:24):
you there and I'm mad selection pass reshipping pups over
ten thousand recommended dollars tyrag dot com The way tirebide
should be. By the way, it is unlikely that anyone's
gonna air a repeat of that broadcast of that game,
so I know you have to sort of read the disclaimer,
but in that case, I really didn't think it was
necessary to read that twenty sixteen was the final. There

(02:00:50):
By the way, final stats are the quarterbacks in that game,
Jalen Hurt sixteen to twenty five two hundred and sixty
four yards, two touchdowns, no picks. That's a that's a
pretty healthy one twin six passer rating up bad after
a zero for five start. He also had thirty three
yards on the ground. Deshaun Watson's numbers not as bad
as they have been. He was sixteen or twenty three
hundred and sixty eight yards, no touchdowns, no picks. Remember,

(02:01:13):
in the second half he did get hot. He actually
got to a ninety passer rating in this game. But again,
the Browns only touchdown of this game was on a
blocked field goal attempt run back for a touchdown. So
the Browns fall to one and five, and you almost
have to remind yourself Rich this was a playoff team

(02:01:33):
last year. The Browns were a playoff team last year,
and they are off to a one in five start.
So you know, even though the final numbers weren't horrific
for Deshaun Watson, they did not get an offensive touchdown
in this game. So it's going to be interesting as
they move forward here with this season unraveling quickly in Cleveland,

(02:01:56):
if they're going to make some kind of move at
the quarterback position.

Speaker 4 (02:01:59):
Just under discipline and bad situational football. So when you
look at the sum total of the game, like you said,
you know, there aren't statistics that are glaring in opposition
to having Deshaun Watson start next week. However, with him
at the helm, this offense looked.

Speaker 1 (02:02:19):
Inept.

Speaker 4 (02:02:20):
On third down, they converted at a twenty five percent rate.
They had twelve opportunities and they only made three of those.
And part of the reason for that is because when
he gets into those, you know, harder situations to convert
either they had been walked back due to penalties, and
that's somewhat outside of his control, although his cadence is

(02:02:41):
what starts every play.

Speaker 1 (02:02:42):
And then the other side of it is he wasn't
able to get those conversions.

Speaker 4 (02:02:47):
And again, it's a it's ten other guys on the
football field, it's an offensive coordinator in your ear, it's
a head coach on the sideline, you know, from a
situational standpoint overruling certain play calls and things of that nature.
There's a lot of chefs in the kitchen when it
comes to making the offense, but one common denominator when
Deshaun Watson is in the game is Deshaun Watson's failure

(02:03:11):
to get this offense going. We've seen it work. It
worked great last year with Flacco, it worked great last
year with other quarterbacks not named Watson. So it sort
of feels like we're just waiting for the shoe to.

Speaker 2 (02:03:24):
Drop here, all right. The Ravens have defeated the Commanders
thirty to twenty three. Some individuals have big games for
the Ravens. Lamar Jackson twenty to twenty six, three hundred
and twenty three yards a touchdown, and a pick. He
also ran for forty yards. Dereck Henry twenty four carries,
one hundred and thirty two yards and two scores, and
Zay Flowers today nine catches for one hundred and thirty

(02:03:47):
two yards. On the other side, Jayden Daniels continues to
impress twenty four to thirty five, two hundred and sixty
nine yards, two touchdown, no picks. But here was the
glaring staff for the Commanders. He was also their leading
rusher with twenty two yards Asoler just nine kerries twenty
one yards. So Jaden Daniels, as talented as he is,
cannot do it alone. If the Commanders are going to

(02:04:09):
keep pace in terms of, you know, being in the
mix as far as the playoffs, they got to get
a running game going here.

Speaker 4 (02:04:15):
They got to get a running game going. They need
to get healthier in the backfield. That's a big part
of that too. Look here, here's the reality of the
situation for the Washington Commanders. You have a rookie quarterback
who's great. It can't be all on his shoulders. You
gotta get this guy some help with a running game.
You gotta get this guy some help with your defense.
If the defense could stop the run at all, the

(02:04:38):
Commanders would be a much better football team this year.

Speaker 2 (02:04:40):
All right, Packers have closed out the Cardinals thirty four
to thirteen. Jordan Love big game twenty two to thirty two,
two hundred and fifty eight yards, four touchdowns, He had
a pick. Josh Jacobs got sixty two yards rushing this game.
Infect the Packers had one hundred and seventy nine yards rushing,
so they rolled it up. Kyler Murray not much twenty
two thirty two, two hund and fourteen yards and a score.

(02:05:01):
But this was just not a good Cardinals game. Is
this another coach that could be on a hot seat
in Arizona.

Speaker 4 (02:05:06):
It's possible. It's possible. He seems to be well liked
by the players out there, but it's possible. Look, a
lot of teams are going the route of offensive head coaches.
Jonathan genn And is not. He was a marvelous defensive
coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles. The selection to make him
the head coach in Arizona seemed strange. But they were
a scrappy team last year. They never quit in any game,

(02:05:29):
and they gave a lot of teams a lot of
hard times. But right now the Cardinals are falling on
hard times. A two and three football football team and
a bad loss on the road. And coming up next,
I mean the Cardinals' schedule, it doesn't exactly lighten up.
They're going to host the Chargers, who look Jim Harbaugh,
he's got a tough nose squad, even though they're banged

(02:05:50):
up with injuries.

Speaker 1 (02:05:50):
We'll see how they look after their bye.

Speaker 4 (02:05:53):
You have the Miami Dolphins on the road, tough place
to play early in the season.

Speaker 1 (02:05:59):
You're gonna face the Bears at home.

Speaker 4 (02:06:00):
But the Bears they've been surging, so it's not exactly
an easy path. So two and three very quickly could
turn into.

Speaker 2 (02:06:09):
Well, he actually he's going to two and four, because
that was two and three going into the Ohm.

Speaker 4 (02:06:13):
Sorry, two and three going into them. Two and four
could turn into two and seven in three weeks.

Speaker 2 (02:06:19):
Easily, easily. Meanwhile, the Colts escape with a win on
the road against the lowly Titans, twenty to seventeen. The
finals score there Joe Flacco twenty two to thirty eight,
one hundred and eighty nine yards, two touchdowns, one pick.
Pretty pedestrian. But again you look at Will Levis's numbers.
You're like, how is it possible to complete sixteen passes
and only have ninety three yards passing, especially when you

(02:06:41):
have DeAndre Hopkins, right, I mean, it's not like you
totally void a talent. You know, Tony Pollard had a
good day, seventeen carries, ninety three yards on the ground
and a score. But again, they got some soul searching
to do as far as their quarterback is going to
score because Levis is not getting the job done.

Speaker 4 (02:06:59):
Yeah, two feasts and a quarterback Levis. I mean, some
really great, brilliant plays mixed in with some really bone
headed moments. Already this season, he's not getting the job done.
And then you look at just this loss and you
think about what you've seen in other games. The Tennessee
Titans are undisciplined. You know, they had eleven penalties today.
Eleven they were penalized over one hundred and ten yards.

(02:07:24):
It's just it's ridiculous. You know, this is a far
cry from the Mike Vrabel Tennessee Titans that look pretty
buttoned up.

Speaker 10 (02:07:32):
Right.

Speaker 4 (02:07:33):
You know, you didn't have a greatness that quarterback with Tannehill,
but during those days, those days you had Derrick Henry,
and you had an offense that could control the clock.
He had a defense that was fierce and flying around,
and their defense is pretty good.

Speaker 1 (02:07:47):
But this offense is just it is. It is a
struggle to watch the Tennessee Titans when they have the football.

Speaker 2 (02:07:54):
All right, Texans put away the Patriots. Final score forty
one to twenty one. Sort of good news, bad news
the Patriots. The good news is Drake May is their
quarterback absolutely twenty thirty three to two hund and forty
three yards, three touchdown passes. He also led the team
with thirty eight yards on the ground. The problem for
the Patriots and this game was their defense was awful,

(02:08:16):
as they gave up one hundred and ninety two yards
on the ground of Houston. Joe Mixon had one hundred
and two yards on a score. Damian Pierce had seventy
six yards in a score.

Speaker 1 (02:08:25):
C J.

Speaker 2 (02:08:25):
Stroud at pretty ordinary numbers by his standards, twenty of
thirty one one hundred and ninety two yards. He did
have three touchdown passes in this game. But at the
very least for the Patriots, after their fifth straight loss,
they have definitely found their quarterback. No looking back.

Speaker 4 (02:08:41):
Now, Yeah, it starts to make sense when you look
at this game. The reason why the Patriots elected to
start Drake May. That is now their third consecutive home
loss of the season. Fourth pardon is it their fourth, No,
it's their third consecutive home loss of the season. They
win on a five game slide now since the kickoff

(02:09:04):
of the season. After winning on the road at Cincinnati,
the Boo Birds were coming out next week if Jacobe
Burssett went out and laid an egg against the Houston Texans. Instead,
Drake May gives the fan base hope. So now you
have Patriots fans excited to show up and see what
he can do against the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars team. After

(02:09:25):
having a great look the interceptions, there's things to clean up,
but a great first showing as a starting quarterback for
this organization. So I think this was a little bit
of hey, listen, the crowds turning against us. We need
to inspire home field advantage. We have a tomb game
home stint coming up against winnable opponents one in division

(02:09:46):
after the Jacksonville Jaguars, they faced the Jets. It's time
to make a change and that's the reason why they
started Drake May.

Speaker 2 (02:09:52):
Today, two weeks into the season, we were asking the question,
are the Saints for real? The answers, no, they're not.
They are getting blown out at home by the Buccaneers.
Just scored again on a short run by Bucky Irving.
The Buccaneers in this game have three hundred and seventeen
net yards passing and two hundred and thirteen rushing yards.

(02:10:13):
That's five hundred and thirty yards of offense against the
Saints team that scored all twenty seven of their points
in the same quarter. The second quarter. Spencer Radler has
been sacked four times. It has been an awful day,
so any hopes that the Saints had after two weeks
when they were at least two weeks into the season
the most impressive team in the league has completely evaporated.

(02:10:36):
Four straight losses pending five and a half minutes ago.
Buccaneers lead this game by a score of forty four
to twenty seven.

Speaker 4 (02:10:44):
And I mean basically, the Buccaneers kind of handed this
game over the Saints and said, hey, do your best
to beat us, because they threw three picks in this game.
I mean, it's it has been somewhat of an uncas
characteristically poor game for Baker Mayfield from the standpoint of
protecting the football, because Baker has been good at that lately.

(02:11:09):
But the Saints have not been able to do anything
with the football with those extra opportunities. They've really been
flummixed by this Buccaneers defense. Now, I mean, it's gonna
be a high scoring game in the end, but the
Bucks basically after the first halfway point of the first half,
they really turned on the after burners and they haven't
looked back.

Speaker 2 (02:11:27):
All Right, two games just underway. Chargers on the road
against the Broncos. Steelers an early field goal, three to
nothing lead on the road against the Raiders. We will
update you on those games and other games about to
kick off. This is Red Zone Radio, alright, rolling along
here on a very busy NFL Sunday Red Zone Radio.
Hartman and Urburger with you live from the tai IRAQ

(02:11:50):
dot com studios. All Right, so the Chargers got a
field goal on the road against the Broncos. Here's an
interesting stat going into this game. Charger had a bye week. Course,
they started the season with a couple wins, had a
couple losses going into the by and when Jim Harbaugh
was named the new head coach of the Chargers, Rich

(02:12:11):
immediately course, you know he's talking about Justin Herbert. I mean,
I've got this superstar quarterback, unbelievable quarterback. I've never had
a quarterback like this. Chargers go into this game second
to last in the league in passing yards thirty first
in the league and passing offense ninth in the league.
In rushing offense. Their offense has been running the ball,

(02:12:31):
not passing the ball. And here you're on the road
against the Broncos team that's rattled up three straight wins.
Fourth and goal at the one yard line, and they
kicked a field goal fourth and one, fourth and goal
at the one yard line, and they went for the
field goal with Justin Herbert as your quarterback. Meanwhile, the

(02:12:52):
Raiders just ran in for a touchdown to take a
six to three league witting on the extra point against
the Steelers. DeVante Adams still active? What's your thought? Is
DeVante Adams going to get traded? Are the Raiders still
trying to hold out hope that they can get a
second round pick for Devonte Adams? What's the hold up
and where do you think ultimately he's going to end
up Well, let's.

Speaker 1 (02:13:13):
Start with your first question, or really wasn't a question,
it was a statement, And I think the statement is
Jim Harbaugh doesn't believe Justin Herbert's healthy enough to run
a QB sneak.

Speaker 2 (02:13:22):
Apparently not.

Speaker 4 (02:13:23):
So that is a big issue for the Chargers moving
forward because part of the reason why they were going
to employ a rushing.

Speaker 1 (02:13:30):
Attack was to protect Justin Herbert and already it's failed.

Speaker 4 (02:13:35):
He's already gotten injured, maybe more severely than he was
injured last year, since Jim Harbaugh has been on the scene.
So look, some of that's lock up. Obviously, you can't
help it. Quarterbacks get hurt in this league. So that's
what that says to me. They don't trust Justin Herbert
with the football in his hands with one yard because
they're worried about his ankle, worried about his availability and
what's behind him in the quarterback room.

Speaker 1 (02:13:57):
Not good.

Speaker 4 (02:13:58):
Moving on to to Adams, he is one hundred percent
on the trading block. There is no question about this.
He does not want to be there. Otherwise he would
be playing football. And I promise you, after he gets traded,
he will immediately be in the story.

Speaker 1 (02:14:14):
Amazing. Yeah, he will immediately be at the starting lineup
for whatever team he gets traded to.

Speaker 4 (02:14:19):
So this is his agent saying to DeVante. Look, there's
gonna be some bad press. Obviously. Raiders fans are not
gonna like this. They are an ardent fan base. You're
going to get a lot of replies and mentions and
your social media is gonna fill up with hate. But
hang tight because we're just waiting for the right package.

(02:14:42):
The Raiders are motivated to get something done. You'll be
out of Vegas in no time, and I promise you
within the next two weeks, he's going to be playing
for a different football team.

Speaker 2 (02:14:53):
By the way, the Buccaneers just scored a game. That
game is just never gonna end fifty one. Remind me again,
is Dennis Allen's like a defensive coach?

Speaker 8 (02:15:01):
Right?

Speaker 1 (02:15:01):
That is correct? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:15:02):
Okay, And they've lost four straight games after that two
and oh start, and now they're just getting blown out,
humiliated at home by the Buccaneers. That is all good?
Would it be overstating the case that maybe Dennis Allen
after that two and oh start could be on the
hot seat already?

Speaker 4 (02:15:20):
I mean, yes, obviously, Dennis Allen's name was already skyrocketing
up the board his potential hot seat candidates, alongside Robert
Sala who lost his job, Doug Peterson who's in jeopardy
of losing his job, Nick Sirianni in Philadelphia. But yeah,
the Saints head coach Dennis Allen. I mean, since he's
taken over, have the Saints.

Speaker 1 (02:15:40):
Really wowed anyone?

Speaker 4 (02:15:42):
And they've had a pretty decent defense at times, they
just haven't been able to get it done With Derek Carr.
Spencer Rattler looked subpart today, so there was a lot
of excitement about what Rattler might bring to the fold
offensively for the New Orleans Saints.

Speaker 1 (02:15:57):
And so far, his numbers.

Speaker 4 (02:15:58):
Today are abysmal seventeen to thirty three, passing two hundred yards,
one touchdown, two interceptions.

Speaker 1 (02:16:05):
He's been sacked four.

Speaker 2 (02:16:06):
Times hold On rich The Saints defense has held Tampa
Bay to two hundred and seventy seven yards rushing. Sean
Tucker has one hundred and thirty six yards and has
scored Bucky Irving has eighty one yards and has scored
two hundred and seventy seven yards rushing for the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers. You don't think, Hey, running the football with Tampa,

(02:16:27):
it's about Baker Mayfield's got great receivers to seventy seven
on the ground.

Speaker 4 (02:16:32):
I'm gonna say this, heading into the season, Sean Tucker
rushed for thirty yards over his two years so far,
and heading into this game, so far this season, yeah,
had two carries for seven yards.

Speaker 2 (02:16:46):
Look what I'm trying to say, Sean Talker. Everybody who
played Sean Tucker today on their fantasy team.

Speaker 14 (02:16:52):
Buddy Steve, everybody should have. Everybody knows he was due
for a breakout to apparely so. So Yeah, Dennis Allen
to the list of coaches. Definitely on the hot seat
right now. All right, let's talk about a couple of
games about to kickoff. A little bit earlier, Chris Meyers
joined us. We talked about that Falcons Panthers game. But

(02:17:13):
in that game, by the way, just kicking off right now.
But let's face it, the game, the game we're watching
Lions and the Cowboys, that game is just kicking off
right now. The Cowboys season has been all over the place.
Three and zero on the road, zero and two at home.

Speaker 2 (02:17:27):
They're at home against a Lions team whose quarterback I
was trying to, you know, play We have these hunch bets,
you know, like the over the top right on Saturdays,
and so I said, I'm going to give you an
over the top prediction. I get this, I win a point. Yeah,
Jared Goff will have an incomplete pass. Okay, okay, And

(02:17:48):
they didn't buy into that. Being outrageous, I said, why not.
He was perfect last week, so if even has one incomplete,
it's crazy. I say this about Jared Goff. Jared Goff
right now, and I'm tracing the history of the National
Football League is one of the ten most underrated quarterbacks
in the history of the NFL because when you think

(02:18:09):
about it with the Rams, the turnaround, obviously, when Sean
McVay took over and then he hit the slide because well,
Todd Gurley got hurt, they lost their running game. The
play action was sort of out of the mix. When
you think about last year, how did Matthew Stafford have
a bounce back year? Kyron Williams showed up all of
a sudden, they had a running game again. But when
you look at what he has done over the course

(02:18:31):
of his career, Jared Goff and really his lack of
recognition for the quarterback he has been. I say he's
incredibly underrated, and there's been.

Speaker 4 (02:18:41):
A bevy of underrated quarterbacks over the years. I would
argue Philip River, as a former teammate of mine, falls
in that category for the type of leader he was,
the type of player having a player like him always
gave you a chance on the outside looking in, the
national narrative was very differ and I think that's the

(02:19:01):
same for Jared Goff in teams that he quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (02:19:03):
When he was with the Rams.

Speaker 4 (02:19:04):
With Sean McVay, Seawn helped unlock Jared Goff in a
way that Steve Fisher didn't when he was a first.

Speaker 1 (02:19:11):
Overall draft pick.

Speaker 2 (02:19:12):
Jeff Fisher.

Speaker 1 (02:19:14):
Jeff Fisher. Steve Fisher was the San Diego State.

Speaker 2 (02:19:17):
Basketball not just a basketball coach all time the basketball.

Speaker 1 (02:19:21):
Than with the Michigan Wolfverines as well. But I digress.

Speaker 4 (02:19:24):
Jeff Fisher was tired of the nine and seven bull
blank and ended up having a losing record after that
win viral on Hard Knocks. So look, the deal is
is since Sean McVay took over the Rams, he really
unlocked something in Jared Goff, and it's something that everybody
was hoping for. He was a first round talent for
a reason out of cow and since then he's been

(02:19:46):
on somewhat of a war path. It hasn't all been perfect,
but since going to Detroit, it's basically been. He is
a great leader. He's a great follower, and I think
all great leaders need to be good followers as well.
And what I mean by that is he does exactly
what his offensive coordinator and his head coach tells him
to do. He's a great game manager. I mean sometimes

(02:20:09):
the running game takes over in Detroit, and as a result,
Detroit has had some of the most phenomenal rushing attacks
in games or seasons since Dan Campbell has taken over.
And it takes a quarterback not making mistakes and putting
a team behind the eight ball in games where their
plan is to rush the football, and he doesn't.

Speaker 1 (02:20:28):
Make those mistakes. So I agree with you.

Speaker 4 (02:20:30):
I think Jared Goff is probably criminally underrated. However, you
got to remember all the way back to when his
career started, there were extremely high expectations on Jared goll He.

Speaker 2 (02:20:41):
Was the number one overall pick. Obviously, the Rams traded
a botlead. This may be my only opportunity to get
anything out of Chris since this game is actually underway. So, Chris,
what are you expecting today from the Lions in this
game at Dallas? Interception right off the bat is what
we're expecting as I speak, the Lions of inns, the
flag on the flag, Yeah.

Speaker 9 (02:21:02):
As I said, as I said, the third team is
going to be a factor today. No, I think that
opening drive for the defense is what you kind of expect.
They're not gonna let Dallas run and there was a
weird deflection pass and then you know, eighty eight could
just missus a few arms tackle like they're gonna want.
You're gonna get burned by the Cowboys a few times,

(02:21:23):
but I think they're more content to try to have
these kind of Yeah, that's that's holding on the Lions there. Yeah,
just try to get them to make some mistakes and
then roll them with your offense, which I think we'll
see soon enough. But I think you've got two great
running backs, and one just got very well paid in
David Montgomery, who will be able to establish the run

(02:21:43):
game and set up everything else that you need to
dominate that side the ball.

Speaker 1 (02:21:47):
Well early on.

Speaker 2 (02:21:48):
Obviously the big opening drive for Dallas, and they obviously
get the automatic first down, the interception off the board,
first down for the Cowboys. They are now in the
red zone against the Lions. All right, let's find out
what is true. It's rending right now, and it's been
a very busy day for all of us, but for Monsei,
her marathon schedule is just beginning.

Speaker 7 (02:22:08):
It is just beginning now. Something interesting happened, but it's
good news now.

Speaker 8 (02:22:13):
Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh was evaluated on the sideline
and taking away and he was questionable to return with
an illness. John Harbaugh of the Ravens was removed from
his press conference to take a phone call to see
what happened to his brother.

Speaker 2 (02:22:25):
Meanwhile, the Chargers just scored a touchdown on an absolutely
perfect pass from Justin Herbert to Vidal.

Speaker 8 (02:22:33):
Right there, Jim Harbaugh is back on the sideline, yes,
with his headset, but that that was weird for a second.
Quentin Johnston of the Chargers is questionable to return with
an ankle injury. But yes, they just scored a touchdown.
So they're beating the Broncos nine to zero with five
minutes to go in the first quarter. Alexander Madison with

(02:22:53):
a rushing touchdown for the Raiders who are on top
of the Steelers seven to three. Late in the first
you just talked about the line and the Cowboys who
just got underway. So they're scoreless, just like the Falcons
and the Panthers scoreless, but they also just got underway.

Speaker 7 (02:23:07):
Back to the Ravens who are now four and.

Speaker 8 (02:23:08):
Two, just like Washington, but they did defeat the Commanders
thirty to twenty three. Derek Henry twenty four carries one
hundred and thirty two yards two touchdowns. Lamar Jackson did
throw for three hundred and twenty three yards and one
touchdown to Mark Andrews, so welcome back Mark Andrews, while
Jayden Daniels had two hundred and sixty nine yards and
two touchdowns in the air. The Texans are now five

(02:23:29):
and one after defeating the Patriots forty one to twenty one.

Speaker 1 (02:23:32):
C J.

Speaker 7 (02:23:32):
Stroud threw for one hundred and ninety two yards and
three touchdowns, but so did rookie Drake May for New England.

Speaker 8 (02:23:38):
He threw for two hundred and forty three yards and
three touchdowns. In his debut, and it's official. The Buccaneers
are finally This game's finally overfellas.

Speaker 7 (02:23:45):
It took forever. They defeated the Saints fifty one to
twenty seven. Really so the Saints never scored again.

Speaker 2 (02:23:52):
Never never scored twenty seven poo in the second quarter.
Oh my goodness, zero twenty seven zero zero.

Speaker 7 (02:23:58):
Yep, so that was the final score.

Speaker 8 (02:24:00):
Baker Mayfield ended up with three hundred and twenty five
yards four touchdowns in the air to go along with
three interceptions. But now Tampa Bay improves to four and
two for the season. The Eagles outscored the Browns twenty
to sixteen. Philadelphia is now three and two for the season.
The Colts, they survive. They hold on to beat the
Titans twenty to seventeen. Indianapolis is now three and three.
Tennessee is now one and four. The Packers, they cruise,

(02:24:23):
passed the Cardinals no problem, thirty four to thirteen. Green
Bay improves to four and two. Arizona falls to two
and four. Jordan Love threw for two hundred and fifty
eight yards and four touchdowns in that one. Caleb Williams,
though started the day with four touchdown passes in London
as the Bears defeated the Jags thirty five to sixteen.

Speaker 7 (02:24:39):
Chicago is now four and two.

Speaker 8 (02:24:41):
Game two of the WNBA Finals underway, Liberty beating the
Link sixty one to fifty three. They're about to end
the third quarter, and of course Game one of the
NLCS between the Dodgers.

Speaker 7 (02:24:51):
And the Mets starts at eight fifteen Eastern from.

Speaker 2 (02:24:54):
LA and you'll be there.

Speaker 7 (02:24:55):
I will be there, and you'll be there, and I'll
be there.

Speaker 2 (02:24:58):
Unbelievable, very big, the unbelievable.

Speaker 7 (02:25:01):
Jobs in between innings.

Speaker 2 (02:25:03):
Maybe maybe all right, thank you man, see me once again.

(02:25:25):
the air. The Chargers, Wow, what a past that was
by Justin Herbert. I mean, you talk about throwing a
dime that was right on the money. But here's been
the problem for the Chargers. Offensively, They've gotten off some
fast starts and then they just stop. They've had a
couple of games now where they've gotten off to you know,
a quick start, touchdown here, you know, and then second

(02:25:47):
halves they've been zero. I don't know if that's you know,
the other team making some interesting adjustments, but you know,
you get off to a nice start. Ten nothing laid
on the road against the Broncos. Huge game for the Chargers.
You're two and two coming up the buy. You know
you're going against the three and two Broncos team. Obviously
everyone's chasing the Chiefs right now, but really what you're
trying to do is any get to ten wins? Can

(02:26:10):
you go ten and seven, because that will get you
a ticket in as a wild card in the AFC,
and that's where the Chargers could conceivingly be. Winning today
in Denver would be a big step in the right direction.

Speaker 1 (02:26:22):
Yeah, it'd be huge. It would be absolutely huge for
the Chargers.

Speaker 4 (02:26:26):
And again, a team that is rolling off a five
win season obviously made the big splashy hire this offseason.
There were eight other or seven other jobs available in
the NFL, and Jim Harbaugh had his pick. Basically after
winning the National Championship Game with the Michigan Wolverines, and
he chose La and they opened up the purse strings

(02:26:46):
and this is really the first time in a long
time that they've done that.

Speaker 1 (02:26:50):
And so far, I would.

Speaker 4 (02:26:51):
Argue, even in losses, the Chargers feel better led, They
feel more consistent with Jim Harbaugh at the helm. However,
to your point, you have some things to fix. Obviously,
justin Herbert, you got to keep him healthy by whatever
means necessary. He needs to remain on the field. The
Chargers are better with him involved. And the second thing

(02:27:12):
is you're right, if you're going to be a fast
starting team, you got to learn how to be closers.
Certain teams, especially teams that have been losing.

Speaker 1 (02:27:19):
For a while.

Speaker 4 (02:27:19):
Even though they replaced a lot of the old statesmen
in the Chargers locker room, there's this feeling of we
got to learn how to win.

Speaker 1 (02:27:27):
Well, the Chargers, they need to learn how to win.

Speaker 2 (02:27:31):
Bo Knicks was taken by the Broncos. Most people have
projected Bo as a second round pick, not a first
round pick. Sean Payton insisted Bo Knicks is the guy
he wanted all along. His first couple of games were rough,
like any rookie quarterback, but We're seeing progress of bow
Knicks week after week. I know what I saw last

(02:27:53):
year at Oregon. I mean, his completion percentage is almost
eighty percent, and he can run, and he's more games
at the Division IE level than any quarterback in history.
Five year starter, three at Auburn, at two at Oregon.
So you know, plenty of its not not to normal
quarterback coming out of college with all the experience that

(02:28:13):
he had. And even now he's showing a scramble where
you can see the speed he can. He can make
up yards what should have been a saconds of a
no game. So this is going to be interesting. Uh.
You know, you look at Sean Payton and all the
success he had in building what may well be a
Hall of Fame resume with the Saints and the partnership
he had with Drew Brees there, and he likes this Bonnicks,

(02:28:38):
I mean, this whole long way to go. The Broncos
defense better than average. They don't have a huge weaponry,
you know, repertoire for Knicks to turn to. But I'm
going to be interested to see how this all plays
out with bon Knicks and Sean Payton.

Speaker 1 (02:28:53):
Same.

Speaker 4 (02:28:53):
Yeah, I think Sean Payton's a heck of a football coach.
I think bo Necks was a heck of a football
player two different school He shined the most at Oregon.
That was a heck of a run he had there.
And I think what happened with Sean Payton this offseason
was what happens with a lot of skillful play callers
when they get their hands on a raw product out

(02:29:15):
of college. You try to shape that raw product in
your vision. So you say, oh, man, you know this
used to work for Drew back in you know, twenty
fifteen with the Saints, and we got this done against
this team, and blah blah blah. Well, guess what Bonix
isn't Drew Brees. Bonicks is intangibly different from the way
he throws the football, his height, his stature in the pocket,

(02:29:37):
the things he's able to do with his legs to
extend plays. You're not coaching Drew Brees. So you have
to dial into what Bonix does well. And I think
they started incorporating a couple of things that you saw
the Ducks do when Bonnicks was with Oregon, and as
a result, he feels more comfortable in this offense.

Speaker 2 (02:29:55):
All Right, The Lions, having held the Cowboys to a
field goal. Nothing. Cowboys early on are on the move.
Right now, they have good news down at the Cowboys
twenty yard line. Yes, Chris, good news, good news for
your out on a limpic. Jared Goff did have a.

Speaker 9 (02:30:10):
Completion ending completion an incompletion. Okay, so that was the
after a fourth throwing game deep shot to Tim Patrick.
I mean, I don't care how long these throws are.
Eighteen of eighteen is still mind.

Speaker 1 (02:30:21):
Blowing what he did last The fans want to know,
how do you do it? How do you make these calls?

Speaker 2 (02:30:27):
Yes, believe me, it's years of practice. That's right, years
of practice. Panthers. No score against the Falcons, but the
Panthers have a third and seven at the eighteen yard line.
Andy Dalton four seven passing forty eight yards. All right,
keep an eye right now on the Lions as they
have a second and three right now, trying to get

(02:30:49):
a touchdown on their opening drive of the game against
the Cowboys. And look at that gaping hole. Hey, touchdown Lions. Wow,
that was some of the worst tackling I have ever seen.
To drag him to the ground, Jersey.

Speaker 1 (02:31:08):
But they will not boy down, dude, here's the deal.

Speaker 2 (02:31:13):
There's really higher Mike zimmers their defense core. Look at
this run by Montgomery. He finds a hole. There's a
mistackle this. Watch this, watch him grab Yeah, like he
should be down by the Oh that's just pathetic.

Speaker 1 (02:31:25):
That's not now.

Speaker 4 (02:31:27):
I mean, look, there's there's players in the NFL who
will at times make some business decisions, and it felt
like there were a couple of business decisions made on
that play. Nobody wanted to take on Montgomery. He's been
a hammer all season long. Yeah for this team.

Speaker 2 (02:31:42):
Well, twenty eight yards rushing and a score, so seven
to three. Lions take the lead against the Cowboys. Much
more coming up, Red Zone Radios here for you. I
flammation behind golf deep back is Montgomery, Jared takes turns,
gives to David Arry goes with a hole to the town.

Speaker 4 (02:32:00):
Montcomy Angley to the five findings playing spinning insun.

Speaker 2 (02:32:04):
To the end zone. Touchdown Detroit Lions, David Montgomery running
through contact. That's ninety seven to one. That take in
Lions Radio Network. Lions with a seven to three lead
on the road against the Dallas Cowboys. Red Zone Radio
here Steve Harbin and Rich Arnberger with you. We are
live from the tire rack dot Com studios. Now. Remember

(02:32:26):
Red Zone Radio rolls on after we exit. Dan Bayer
Carry Rhodes of course will take over. With four games
going on right now in the NFL, and pretty good games,
by the way, those first time we've really had no
games in the morning that went down to the wire, Rich,
so we had I won't say duds, because we had
some entertaining games this none that went down to the wire.

(02:32:47):
I want to thank our supporting crew today. Of course,
Monsey doing an unbelievable job today. She hammered me in
our picks also, so she'll be very happy when we
reunited on our show on Saturday. Chris of course holding
his breath that the Lions can you know, take it
from here after an impressive opening drive, David Montgomery obviously
dragging Cowboys into the end zone a good sign there,

(02:33:10):
reminding you of why he got paid all that money.
And by the way, Rich, I have a question for you.
When is zero more than zero?

Speaker 1 (02:33:20):
When is zero more than zero?

Speaker 10 (02:33:22):
Right?

Speaker 1 (02:33:23):
I see?

Speaker 2 (02:33:24):
I thought there was no answer to that, but I
just found out that our own bo Benson has found
out the answer to when is zero more than zero?
Explained to us well.

Speaker 6 (02:33:38):
Aj Brown's over on his receiving yards, and I had
a special little thing to set Calvin Ridley's total to zero.
So I took the over because I figured Calvin Ridley
should have one catch, but he did not. He was
famously shut out today, but they cashed it anyway. So
I am now thirty dollars richer, and I think I'll
be having Chipotle for lunch because I can afford it
without going bankrupt.

Speaker 2 (02:33:58):
Wow, that is unbelievable. So zero zero actually turns out.

Speaker 6 (02:34:01):
To be more than zero when he comes to Calvin
Ridley not doing anything on the football field, it apparently does.

Speaker 2 (02:34:05):
Yeah, the long standing question, and there's the answer, thank you,
thank you. Only when Bo's involved is zero more than zero?
Panthers take the early seven to nothing lead against the Falcons.
But that shouldn't be a problem because Kirk Cousins. I
was a little surprised. I mean that first game, woof,
it looked like yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He looked

(02:34:27):
like a guy coming off a blown Achilles. But he's
been playing some pretty good football here Rich And of course,
right now, Falcon's trying to keep pace with the Buccaneers
in that NFC South.

Speaker 1 (02:34:38):
I'm a big fan of Kirk Cousins, and I always
have been.

Speaker 4 (02:34:41):
I have. I have a soft spot in my heart
for a good leader and a good guy, and I
think he's both those things.

Speaker 1 (02:34:48):
For every team he's played for.

Speaker 4 (02:34:50):
He's been a voice of reason and persistence, and I
think he's obviously been uneven in his play at times.
It got much better with Kevin O'Connell in Minnesota. I
think he took a big step forward in his career
as a pocket passer, managing games better, making better decisions

(02:35:12):
down the field with the football. There were times in
his time in his early career with Washington where he
would take too many gambles. He has a big arm,
you know, That's something that people don't talk about. But
he could get the ball down the field. But there
were times where he would throw it into double coverage
and it's like, you know, come on, Kirk, you're not
that guy, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (02:35:32):
In fact, there are so few people who are that
guy who.

Speaker 4 (02:35:35):
Can bullet pass it thirty yards in between coverage and
hit the target on the run.

Speaker 1 (02:35:41):
You know.

Speaker 4 (02:35:41):
Mahomes, Josh Allen, there's these special talents, these guys who
are that that good down the field. But Kirk Cousins
settled into his career and as a result, he's one
of the highest paid quarterbacks playing and he's playing like it.

Speaker 2 (02:35:54):
In Atlanta, Raiders lead the Steelers seven to six, which
which your sense on the field's situation. Russell Wilson now
apparently practicing. You know, Steelers won those first three games
to start, a couple losses, fields, numbers or ordinary. What
do you do if you're the Steelers in your quarterback.

Speaker 4 (02:36:16):
You evaluate every single week. You just continue the and
you don't have to tell Justin Fields that it doesn't
need to be in plain English, but you evaluate him
every single week. As Russell Wilson is getting healthier, it
gives you an option. So if this team is four
and two by the end of the day, going on
the road and getting a win with Justin Fields and
his numbers are good and he didn't make any boneheaded

(02:36:37):
decisions that put your you know, defense in a bind
or put your team in a hole, well, I mean,
it makes the decision to stick with Justin Fields a
lot easier. Now if he goes out there lays an
egg and the Steelers tumble to a three and three record,
and you have a chance to reset with a healthy
Russell Wilson. Well, that's a decision that you're gonna be

(02:36:59):
forced to make. And so, like I said, going back
to the initial thing I said when you asked me
about Fields, it's it's week to week, it's day to day.
Keep the evaluation open. And as long as he's playing
like a winner, as long as you're winning football games
with Justin Fields, keep him as a starter.

Speaker 2 (02:37:14):
Wow, we got a hum dinger tonight, don't we. Bengals Giants?
Oh yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:37:18):
Moly, a team that can't score against a team that
can't stop the score.

Speaker 2 (02:37:22):
I am still completely baffled by what the Bengals did
in that overtime. Oh boy, last way, I mean, it
was just absolutely stunning. Meanwhile, we have an interception in
the end zone by the Lions and Dak Prescott. Oh my,
I mean here he is the highest paid player in
the league. They're in a position and he throws a

(02:37:45):
interception that just is ugly.

Speaker 1 (02:37:49):
Not good, not good. You know, he was getting ceedee
lamb going earlier in the drive.

Speaker 4 (02:37:54):
Dak Prescott It's been an interesting start to the Dallas
Cowboys season. We were talking about it earlier. They dropped
this game. That's three straight at home after winning sixteen
straight games at home over the portions of two seasons.
So it would be very bad for the Dallas Cowboys,
especially with Mike McCarthy on a lame duck year.

Speaker 1 (02:38:16):
He was not extended.

Speaker 4 (02:38:18):
He's, I guess, finishing his coaching contract and then riding
off into the sunset. Unless we hear otherwise from Jerry Jones,
It's gonna be very strange if this Dallas Cowboys team
starts to struggle, because you could lose the locker room
real fast.

Speaker 2 (02:38:33):
Meanwhile, the Broncos, excuse me, the Broncos trailing ten nothing
right now, and the Chargers are on the move again.
So so far, so good for the Chargers. Also, a
quick comment about Joe Burrow, who was my preseason pick
to be the MVP because of death. But his numbers
have been great club touchdowns, two picks. You know he
saw it for all these yards. But the Bengals defense

(02:38:56):
is the worst in the league. No, Joe Burrows had
to play like a Super Bowl or excuse me, like an.

Speaker 4 (02:39:01):
MVP and fine touchdowns last week because his defense can
stop anyway anyway. So they are putting the ball in
the air constantly. And the fact that he's only thrown
two interceptions on the season and they've been going to
the air as much as they have speaks to Joe
Burrow being all the way one hundred percent back from
that risk surgery this offseason.

Speaker 2 (02:39:21):
I was always suspicious even when the Bengals made their
Super Bowl run about the commitment from the organization to
keep it going.

Speaker 1 (02:39:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:39:29):
If you look at the Bengals history, they have moments
of glory and then they all seem to evaporate real quickly.
I'll tell you what's not going to evaporate. That will
be Red Zone Radio, Dan Kerry, get ready, keep it here.
