tell right now, after last Sunday show, I completely blew
(00:31):
my voice out, so I am nursing it to this
show today.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
Well, and hey listen that that happens probably once every
two years, I would say, is your average.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
About about that usually? What happens? Though, By the way,
let me run down the eight games going on right now.
Let me do I well, no, no, no, no, no, Raiders, Dolphins, Brown, Saints, Vikings, Titan's, Colts, Jets, Packers, Bears, Jaguars, Lions, Rams, Patriots,
Raven Steelers. See, the key in this thing is the
more that I talk, the more I sort of clear
out my throat. And so I'm going to do all
(01:08):
the talking and lets you do none of the talking. No,
that's not true. No, it was so funny. I left
your son. Remember, we had some of the exciting finishes
last week, and we had the you know, block field,
all this kind of crazy stuff going on. And as
I was driving back home, Yeah, I could feel this
(01:28):
little flutter in the back of my throat about an
hour into the drive, and I realize I literally lost
my voice.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Well, whenever that happens in the future, whenever I feel
a flutter, whenever I feel even the slightest bit of
a vocal cord, anguish, Yes, you just got to start
belting out Celine dion Ha. You know you just I mean,
your heart will go on whatever it is, all the hits,
I mean, I celebrate her entire catalog. And if you
(01:57):
do it at the top of your lungs, normally you
can clear out all the spiderwebs. We got a busy week,
my friend. This is going to be this is going
to be kind of like movement week in the NFL,
is what I want to call it.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Yeah, because absolutely there are certain.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
Teams that can really solidify their footing, especially in the
wild Card. There's a lot of teams that could create
a little bit of separation at the top of the
playoff structure, and.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Then there are certain teams that are literally.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
Playing for their playoff lives as we speak to this morning.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
So man, oh man, it's going to be a.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Busy morning or afternoon, depending on what coast you're listening
to us on, and a lot of things can happen
in the next three hours.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Well, that's the whole thing.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
I mean. For instance, we got this Packers Bears game
going on right now, right and the Bears are they
still in it? You know, you're four and five right now,
you have a home game where they've only lost once
all season long, going against a Packer team that obviously
is trying to keep pace. What's going on right now
in that very competitive AFC North. So this is a
tough game to read, right because the Bears, you know,
(03:07):
they made a change at offensive coordinator. What is that like, Rich,
Do you know, like making a change at offensive coordinator
mid stream with a rookie quarterback?
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Oh my gosh, I wouldn't wish that on any rookie quarterback.
That's a really difficult thing to contend with. I'll give
you the most recent comparison, I Ken, do you remember
Mac Jones' final.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Season in New England. Yes, as a third year quarterback.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
He started the offseason with co offensive coordinators. It was
Matt Patricia and was it Joe Judge or what's his
name the former Yeah, yeah, thank you, Yeah, Joe Judge,
former New York Giants. Go. So you have Joe Judge
and Matt Patricia in his ear, and then I guess
they decided on Patricia and then Bill Belichick.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
At some point. I mean that offense was a mess
that season. Mac Jones looked like he was lost.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
So I'm not gonna say it's the worst thing you
could do to a rookie quarterback because who knows, maybe
his new coordinator and him wink up. Well, maybe Shane
Waldron was having a hard time sequencing plays and putting
him in a favorable position.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
But ain't ain't easy. That's what I'm trying to tell you.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
It is not easy being a quarterback in the NFL,
and any adversity that you can avoid to put in
his path, you should do so because it can get
you know, by factors, it could get much harder.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
So during the week, you know, I'm watching all these
NFL shows and they're talking about what's a bigger story
in this raven Steelers matchup going on right now. Is
it the ongoing MVP campaign of Lamar Jackson or the
remarkable comeback of Russell Wilson. I'm like, what what do
he remarkable comeback? I mean, when you look at his numbers,
they're not all that much better than what we saw
(04:52):
with Justin Fields. The Steelers are still winning games the
way they always wins games. They you know, play great defense,
they can run the football. I'll take care of the football,
don't throw the ball away, stuff like that. But I
think it's a little premature to talk about the renaissance
of Russell Wilson right now. We'll see. I mean, this
is a huge game today. I mean, Steelers obviously underdogs
(05:14):
at home against this Ravens team. I would not bet
against the Steelers at home, but I think I'm gonna
hold off a little bit before we say, wow, Russell
Wilson runaway comeback player of the year.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
Yeah. I will say this.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
The Ravens defense is not your father's Ravens defense. This
isn't the Baltimore defense that we're used to.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Yeah, They've no Ray Lewis, no Ed Reed, none of that.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
They're all Sugs.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Back in the day.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Check out this stat.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
This is an incredible stat I found on the Ravens.
They've allowed an NFL high this season of twenty two
completions this season of passes.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Twenty or more yards down the field.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
Yes, no team has allowed more explosive passing plays completed
on them outside of the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
They are number one.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
By the way. Just a quick note here, Russell Wilson
I believe has already ten or eleven completions over twenty
five yards.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
He has been good. He has been I don't want
to say great, but he has been good. He has
been serviceable. He has not hurt the Steelers in any way,
shape or form. And I mean, you know, he's shown
some guts out there, some fourth quarter guts. So the
Steelers look, they've got their work cutout for him. Never
easy to play in division, especially against a well coached
(06:28):
team like the Baltimore Ravens. I'm gonna say the X
factor today for me is gonna be George Pickens.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
If he can elevate.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Win some fifty to fifty balls, maybe one in the
first half, one in the second half where you get
a nice little chunk out of this Ravens defense. You
shorten the field for Pittsburgh and you know that guarantees
them three points on a driver or a touchdown. You know,
you pad your team an opportunity to score ten points,
you'll be the player of the game. So give me,
give me George Pickens as a player to watch in
(06:57):
this matchup.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
All right, I believe we have a touchdown, but there's
a flag on the play and it's against the defense,
so the Packers are on the board.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
First.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
I did not see who Jordan Love threw the touchdown
pass two, but it was a touchdown for the Packers
on their opening drive, taking an early six nothing lead,
penning the extra point. Meanwhile, Dolphins are second eleven right
now at the Raiders thirteen yard line.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
You know, when you look at the Dolphins and you
look at the.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Jets, two teams that are both sitting at three and well,
actually Jets are three and seven, Dolphins are at three
at six.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
Are there seasons over here?
Speaker 2 (07:38):
I mean, is it absolutely over for either the Dolphins
at three and six or the Jets at three and
seven to make some miraculous run and sneak into the playoffs?
Speaker 4 (07:49):
No, not over, but their season is literally weighing in
the balance of the outcome today against the Raiders, So
good time to have some home cooking for the Dolphins
hosting Las Vegas. They're not done, but they got an
incredible amount of work to do, and their margin for
era has basically disappeared. Look the Raiders, they haven't lost
(08:14):
six straight games since.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
The twenty fourteen season, and I think they know that.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
I have a feeling that they realize they're about to
make some recent history if they don't get a w
Antonio Pierce is an incredibly passionate coach. I know that
he's gonna have these guys ready to play. I think
it's a battle. Every time you see Las Vegas this season,
I think they are ready to play.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
I don't know if he's ready to be a head coach.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
So this is gonna be a war for the Dolphins
the way I see it in my mind's eye. We'll
see how it turns out. But the Raiders, look, they're
gonna struggle against Miami today because Miami is a cornered
animal playing for their lives and they're much more talented.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
All right, So was Jaden Reid on the receiving none
of that touchdown pass from Jordan Love seven nothing Packers
on the road against the Bears Jaguars, three nothing lead.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Fifty nine yard field goal.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
I see Chris over there shaking in his boots as
his Lions or I am seeing the team that he covers,
the Lions. He doesn't like to say. It's his Lions
in a three nothing hole early on in this game.
I am not expecting that to hold up. The Steelers
got a field goal on their opening dry Can we
so yes?
Speaker 5 (09:29):
Can we just say this about I am still shocked
that that was a fifty nine yard field goal and
he made it clean on Yeah, I'm just shocked that
this is what NFL kickers do on the red.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Now, this is like sixty yards, no problem. How about this?
Speaker 2 (09:42):
So the stats I saw going into this week fifty
plus yard field goal attempts seventy one percent.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Isn't that wild?
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Seventy one percent? To put that in perspective. Jan Stenerud,
who's one of the first great soccer style kickers in
NFL history. He's one of only a couple of kickers
pure kickers in the Hall of Fame. For his career,
all field goal attempts was under seventy percent. My god,
that's that's that's how it was.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
No, it was not an automatic. You know, you had guys,
you know it was. I I remember, yeah, man, I
gooes of our back. I can remember when over fifty
percent was considered good, but seventy one percent from beyond
fifty yards.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
I mean it just goes to show you that the
skill specific training that these athletes are going through at
a younger and younger age now is improving the level
of talent. I remember when we were watching the and
this was on the broadcast with you, Steve, after I
finished my playing career and I was a teammate of his,
(10:50):
while we're watching tom Brady's career start to you know,
start to come to an end.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
I mean it took a long time.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
I was I was rich hired ten years and I
had played six years in the NFL, and I was
his teammate at year ten for him, and I was like,
I mean, it's any day, right, any day now, right,
he's gonna retire.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
He ended up playing five more years. But the point
is so Tom Brady.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
I thought there would never be a more talented quarterback
in the NFL than Tom Brady. And then all of
a sudden, Patrick Mahomes came along. It just goes to
show you that.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Now.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
I'm not saying he's gonna be as accomplished as Tom Brady,
but I do believe in his talent, and I think
he's an unbelievable young player, and I think he's got
a long career ahead of him. And obviously it's already
started out like Tom Brady's where winning seems to come naturally.
That's what I mean. Like these kickers, you compare them
to the kickers of even ten years ago, you can't.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
These pass rushers.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
You compare them to even the pass rushers of ten
years ago, you can't. Aaron Donald felt like an anomaly.
And now you look around in the NFL and Mile Garrett,
Aiden Hutchinson, you know, Nick Bosa. Like these guys, they're
playing like men possessed. Will they ever be what Aaron
Donald was?
Speaker 1 (12:10):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
But we've got a lot of talented pass rushers too.
So the NFL just keeps marching forward. Man, guys get
better and better and better.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
All right.

Shafon Reid on a sixteen shuts down receipting totally the
fine lot.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
The play that's out, that's ninety seven to three. The
game wrn W Packers Radio Network. Packers with the early
seven to three lead on the road against the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Once again, this is Red Zone Radio. Steve Harbin, Rich Ornberger.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
We live from the Tirerack dot com studios and eight
games going on. Dolphins Sega seven eh in lead over
the Raiders. Rich We're winning on the Patriots and Rams
right now. No score, but the Patriots are at the
Rams ten yard line right now, so they're a little
bit on the move. I want to get back to
(13:51):
the Jets right now. After last week's latest debacle getting
absolutely blown out by the Arizona Cardinals. I mean, we
talked about that to your previewing and say, you know,
I asked you what's more likely a Cardinal's four game
winning streak or a Jets two game winning streak. I
think we're both in agreement. It would be a four
game winning streak with Arizona and they blew the doors
(14:12):
off the Jets. Jets, So Aaron Rodgers is already talking
about twenty twenty five. If you're the Jets organization, do
you want to see Aaron Rodgers in twenty twenty five?
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Well, you kind of have no choice because he's under
contract for twenty twenty five unless you're willing to eat
that salary because he is untradeable at this point. And
by that, I mean no team would trade anything, and
I mean anything. How about just fresh air, fresh American
air for Aaron Rodgers. Here's the reason why, Because Aaron
(14:49):
Rodgers is a media sensation. Everything he says creates headlines.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
So what an.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Unbelievable distraction for a different organization than maybe trying to
bring in a veteran quarterback to be a backup so
that you can fortify the position and maybe get a
little coaching out of him for your up and coming quarterback.
No team would trade for Aaron Rodgers because Aaron Rodgers
will not be satisfied being anything other than a starter,
(15:19):
and he doesn't, and no other team will want him
to be a starter. I would assume, other than the
New York Jets on a one year contract. So Aaron Rodgers,
I think, is what this is what's gonna happen. If
the Jets season goes the way we think it's gonna go,
unless something miraculous happens here, They're going to draft a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
It's gonna be a first round pick. Aaron is going to.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
Be tasked to help bring that quarterback up to speed,
just like he did with Jordan Love. And Jordan Love
he has mentioned he's like, look, you know, you know
he Aaron would tell me some pretty wild stuff about
his politics or UFOs, but he has credited him with
his development behind the sea. He has said that Aaron
(16:01):
Rodgers was a teacher, was a teammate, was a guy
who shared football wisdom with him, and I think that
would benefit whoever the Jets draft next. But you're gonna
have to weather the storm next year with Aaron Rodgers again.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Yeah, but that Aaron Rodgers, that was tutoring.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
Let's say Jordan Love was still an MVP in otherwise
he was still at the top of his game.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
Yeah, I get this guy. Is his has is still there?
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Well, his brain is still there, but is his heart's
still there? See here was the one thing I said
about Aaron Rodgers. Again, I'm not questioning his status as
one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the NFL,
but he doesn't have the leadership qualities of some of
the other old time legends. He just doesn't. You know.
He's not Tom Brady, He's not Patrick Mahomes in terms
(16:51):
of he talks about his accomplishments. He talks about being
MVP four times, he talks about his numbers. And for
a Jets team, yeah, they needed an upgrade a quarterback
in terms of being able to deliver the football throw accurately.
All that stuff, But they really needed was a leader.
Aaron Rodgers has not been that leader for this New
(17:13):
York Jets team at all, And so I don't know,
you're right. I mean they're sort of now. The money's
not guaranteed. I don't know if I'm the Jets, I
caught my losses unless there's some miraculous turnaround. By the way,
right now, Colt's leading the Jets three nothing. But unless
I see some miraculous turnaround, not just in terms of winning.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
But just an overall mindset of this Jets.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Team, I cannot hand the football back to this guy
to guide my team in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Yeah, I mean, like from an emotional quotion standpoint, I
understand where you're coming from from both a business standpoint
and from just I guess a re agent standpoint.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Look Rogers, for everything you just.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Said, and some of it is opinions that have been
shared throughout the football community, and I imagine there are
certain players who feel that way as well. But he's
a well respected player and person in the NFL. You
don't want to have a situation where the New York
Jets are viewed as the type of team who will
(18:22):
just throw out a free agent who they lord to
their city in trade, or I shouldn't say free agent,
but a trade candidate they lured to their city like
yesterday's garbage because he tore his achilles in one season
and then had a rough season which may or may
not be all his fault the next year. You know,
(18:42):
you want to make sure that other players know that, Hey,
if you get traded to the New York Jets, we're
gonna give you a shot. We're gonna we're gonna treat
you fairly, we're gonna we're gonna do everything we can
to give you success. And they've really held up their
end of the bargain with Aaron Rodgers. I think if
the New York Jets continue to invest in Rogers throughout
the course of this season and then turn to the
(19:05):
draft in the spring and say, hey, look, we did
everything we could over two years now to make it
work with Aaron, it didn't work. We're no better than
before we had Aaron Rodgers. So we're going back into
the draft and we're gonna ask Aaron to help us
coach this next quarterback coming through, because this quarterback will
be the quarterback of our future. Aaron is the quarterback
(19:27):
of our right now, of our current present day in
twenty twenty five, and Aaron's just gonna have to eat
that because the facts are the facts as it stands
right now.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
The Jets are no better with.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Aaron Rodgers record wise at quarterback than they were with
Zach Wilson.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Yeah, but no, I'll tell you what about it, speaking
of a quarterback of the future, Drake may how about
these numbers already as the Patriots taken early seven at
the lead against the Ramps, seven of nine eighty four
yards touchdown pass to Kendrick Bourne and the Patriots. I
know the city at three and seven, but I like
the Patriots situation at three and seven a lot better
(20:06):
than I do the Jets situation at three and seven.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Again, the margins have absolutely disappeared for the Patriots too,
So everything I said about the Jets vying for a
wildcard spot in the AFC goes for the Patriots in
the AFC as well. But I am impressed with the
moxie and the talent of Drake may I'm impressed with
Jared grod Mayo doing a nice job at head coach
for his rookie year, keeping the team together. There's no
(20:30):
quitters out there in New England. That's one thing you
could say that's a huge positive. Absolutely no quit in
that team. That sideline is filled with believers. Drake May
has got a bright future.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
All right, Raiders? Right now, second and goal in the
Miami ten yard line. To a tongue about the law.
Off to a fast start for the Dolphins today. Seven
of eight forty eight yards and a touchdown passed early
in this game. That was to Jonah Smith Gardner Minshew
of course at quarterback for the Raiders. So the Raiders
another team that's going to have to make some decisions. Rich,
(21:01):
I mean, did they hire the right coach? Is Antonio
Piers the future of this team or is it a
potential one and done situation.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
It's most likely a one and done situation. And here's
the problem.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
In the NFL, Antonio Piers could end up being who knows,
the next John Madden.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
He could be a Hall of Fame coach for the Raiders.
We don't know.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
I know this, He's not going to get the opportunity
because that's not how this works anyway.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Can Tom Brady talk Bill Belichick in becoming the Raiders coach.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
I would say it's a possibility.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Look Tom and Bill, for everything that has been said
about their relationship and many things have been written, if
there's one thing they both believe in, it's each other.
You know, from a standpoint of ability to coach, ability
to play. I mean, Bill never wavered. He considers Tom
Brady the most excellent quarterback that's ever played the game
of football. And the way that Tom talks about Bill's
(21:54):
coaching style, there's clear admiration for everything he was able
to accomplish. Even though his talents aided those accomplishments, he
gives Bill all the credit. So yeah, I mean, in short, yeah,
there's absolutely a way that Tom Brady could be an
integral part of louring Bill Belichick to be the raiders
next head coach.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
By the way, you're not gonna believe this.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
You're talking about these kickers, how automatic they are. Arguably
the best kicker of the last fifteen to twenty years,
maybe of all time in the NFL. Justin Tucker just
missed a forty seven yard field goal st He struggled
all season long. So while everybody else has become automatic
no matter the distance, Justin Tucker is in a slump
(22:35):
and the Ravens trail of Steelers by a score at three.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Nothing.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
All right, let's find out what's trending right now.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
She had to endure yesterday as I was hacking my way.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Here was the difference Todayzi.
Speaker 7 (22:48):
It's all right. I had a lot to say, rich
it was fine.
Speaker 8 (22:50):
He just started coughing, and I would just talk a lot.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
To say, our listeners are so thrilled more Monzi les Hartman.
I'll take that every time. But today I took some
coffe medicine. So at least so far, you don't know that, Manti.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
He said that so sneaky.
Speaker 7 (23:09):
Like he did something illegal.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
By cough medicine. Yeah, it's just copious amounts of bourbon.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Like that's what it takes.
Speaker 8 (23:19):
You got to bring it, because yesterday you didn't sound
the way you sound a little, you know, you got
a sexy voice going on, like Phoebe in front.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Right, So, Rizard Monty, I gargle with sulfuric acid.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
I think everything is fine now fine.
Speaker 8 (23:36):
Yeah, but yeah you're not coughing today, so that's good.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
So yeah, I'd rather have this sultry voice.
Speaker 7 (23:43):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Really, I'll tell you my brain.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
It only took you sixty something in years, but your
voice is finally dropping.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
You're really settling into your final form.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
Yeah, I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
That's right, all right, guys.
Speaker 8 (23:58):
Eight games going on right in the NFL Continuing Week eleven.
Packers were on the scoreboard first, Jordan Love connecting with
Jayden Reid for a fifteen yard touchdown pass. The Bears
are on the scoreboard, but just a field goals. The
Packer's up seven to three late in the first quarter.
Lions David Montgomery with the rushing touchdown. They're beating the
Jags seven to three, less than a minute to go
in the first. The Titans are up on the Vikings
(24:20):
three zero with about four minutes to go in the first.
I told you I was intrigued by this game because
of the Titans defense when it comes to the Vikings
in Sam Darnold. The Dolphins are beating the Raiders at
home seven three. They're about to start the second quarter.
Drake may Plain on one of my fantasy teams today.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
Guys.
Speaker 8 (24:36):
He's seven of nine eighty four yards, one touchdown. Patriots
are beating the Rams seven zero, three minutes to go
in the first.
Speaker 7 (24:42):
Taysom Hill with a rushing touchdown for the Saints.
Speaker 8 (24:44):
They're beating the Brown seven zero late in the first
Colts on top of the Jets, three zero, three minutes
to go in the first Raven Steelers. The big one
here Raven started with a fumble Derek Henry on the
opening drive. Steelers were only able to get a field
goal out of it. And then you guys just talk
something is going on with Justin Tucker. He's got the
yips broken.
Speaker 7 (25:04):
I don't know what it is, but he just missed
that field goal to tie the game.
Speaker 8 (25:07):
So the Steelers are have three zero, less than five
minutes to go in the first.
Speaker 7 (25:11):
Later today, Chiefs and Bills.
Speaker 8 (25:12):
So no Isaiah Petreko for the Chiefs this week, but
he should be back for.
Speaker 7 (25:16):
A week twelve against the Panthers.
Speaker 8 (25:18):
As for Amari Cooper, apparently he's feeling good.
Speaker 7 (25:21):
He's feeling like.
Speaker 8 (25:22):
He's gonna play despite that wrist injury.
Speaker 7 (25:25):
And lastly, did you guys hear about this?
Speaker 8 (25:27):
Inside the NBA will live on past this year, so
ESPN is going to be licensed to air inside the NBA.
This is part of that lawsuit that Warner Brothers Discovery
started in July because they said that they matched the offer,
but the offer wasn't taken, so this is part.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
Of all of that.
Speaker 8 (25:47):
The Athletic does say that TNT will continue to produce
the show, but it's going to air on ESPN. No
word on what ESPN is gonna do with their already
NBA show that they have, like the pre and post.
Speaker 7 (26:00):
I don't know if there's no worre on what's gonna
happen with that. But inside the Men.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
One, there's only one show for the NBA.
Speaker 7 (26:06):
And it's inside the NBA and it will live on.
Back to you guys, all.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
Right, MONSI thank you very much. All right, I'm gonna
try my sultry voice right now to introduce someone that
is a dear friend of our show. He is one
of the absolute elite at what he does. He's gonna
be working that Seahawks forty nine Ers game today. The
great Greg Olsen is joining us once again. Greg, thanks
for joining us. We miss you, man. But I want
(26:31):
to get to the Seahawks forty nine Ers game. Let's
get it started. I'm looking at like power rankings in
the NFC right now. You obviously have the Lions sitting
there at the top. The Eagles are coming on strong.
But now that Christian McCaffrey's back with the forty nine ers,
where do the forty nine ers fit in your power
rankings in the NFC?
Speaker 9 (26:50):
You know, I think on paper, I think potentially everyone
every week is just saying, okay, this is the week
they break out, you know, as the time it seems
that they're getting a little bit healthy. You're of course
getting McCaffrey back last week, and now the question is
do they lose Kittle and Trent Williams. Will find out
here shortly whether those two guys can play. So it
seems like every time it looks like they're getting healthy,
(27:11):
and it looks like all their stars, especially on offense,
are going to be back in there together. You know,
somebody else has to miss, So it's really just a
question of not you know, listen, this is still one
of the best offenses in football when you look at
most of the you know, the ways you can evaluate
offense with EPA and stats and yards for play and
everything other than red zone offense, this is still an
elite offense in the league. It just looks a little
(27:33):
bit different. So I think the defense is coming off
their best game last week against Tampa played really well
obviously probably the biggest reason that they won. And this
offense with McCaffrey should continue to find its group so
Rock Purdy plays at a high level if they continue
to get all these pieces back on both sides of
the ball. Yeah, you have to imagine in a pretty
wide open NFC I think the expectation across the league
(27:56):
is it's just a matter of when do the forty
nine ers break back out? Is it today, is it
next week? At some point, but when they get in
the playoffs, this is whether it's a wild card or
they end up winning the division. This is just a
team in the playoffs that's built for playoff football and
probably not a team that anyone wants to draw.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Greg you won three Pro Bowls as a tight end,
two All Pros. You are the only tight end or
the first tight end in NFL history with three consecutive
one thousand yard seasons. You're still top ten in most
receiving yards by tightands in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
I mean we're talking about historic numbers.
Speaker 4 (28:33):
During the course of your career, nobody knows the position
better than you. When you watch George Kittle, how do
we quantify what he means to the San Francisco forty
nine ers because I realized McCaffrey was a brilliant trade
and he fits perfectly into the system. And everybody talks about,
you know, the utility weapon that Deebo Samuel is and
(28:56):
Brock Purty obviously the position he.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
Plays, he gets a lot of love.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
But George Kittle, he feels like the behind the scenes
glue guy who just never gets the credit he deserves.
But he's great at catching, he's great at running after
the catch, he's great at blocking. I mean, the guy's
tough as nails, he plays hurt. How do you quantify
or categorize his important importance to the forty nine ers success.
Speaker 9 (29:22):
I think you're spot on, And a lot of the
guys you just mentioned, it's a little bit easier to
evaluate and to kind of quantify what their impact is
because it shows up a little bit more in the
statueet right. Of course, at the quarterback position with Purdy,
that's a no brainer. But you know, McCaffrey comes back
in and it's easy to see you know, yards pability
to generate yards after catch and what types of coverages
(29:42):
do they see and how teams do they want to
play man coverage because they don't feel good about, you know,
the matchups against you know, McCaffrey. It's a little bit
easier to kind of dissect the impact of guys like
him and Deebo and of course Purdy, but George and
Nith offense. You know, he's going to catch touchdowns, he's
going to have breakout games, but he's also going to
have you know, quiet three catch games like last week.
But then you look and you say, okay, one's a
(30:04):
toetep touchdown in the red zone, and one's a great
third down conversion on the ball. It's a little high
that he brings down. So you take a look and
you say, cannot be getting the volume of targets in
the passing game. But every time he does have the
ball targeted, it's a critical it's an impactful play. And
then the things that you can't put a measuring stick on,
you can't really give him, you know, yards in the
(30:25):
run game or pass protection or you know what he
does picking up a blitz to give Purty a chance
to hit one of those other targets with the ball.
That's the stuff you can only really study and deep dive.
But you're not going to see it in the box score.
You know, that's something that you're only going to see
if you really spend time and appreciate the impact. You know,
similar to Trent Williams, you know, but the difference for
George is and the advantage that he brings. It's like
(30:48):
taking one of your best blockers and being able to
move them wherever you want. You know, he's the queen
of the chessboard. And the fact that he can do
whatever you want him to do, and you have the
ability that you can line him up in the backfield,
you can put him on the end of the line,
he can line up in the slot, out wide, you
can bring him in motion, you can bring him as
a lead blocker. He's just there's really an endless amount
of things that he can do to impact the game. Run, pass,
(31:09):
pass protection, across the board. So I agree, I as
good as McCaffery is. Don't get me wrong, he's you know,
reigning Offensive Player of the Year for a reason. I
played with him. I saw it up close in person.
He is the best player on their team. But you
could I would agree with you. I would argue that
George Kittle might be the most important player on their team,
just because he can really impact the game with or
(31:32):
without the ball. And you know, there's just not a
lot of guys that's height end position that can have
that level of impact if they're not impacting it through
the air in the passing game.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
All right, Greg, one more question I want to find
out about these Seahawks right now. They start three to zero,
and now they've lost five out of the last six, and
you have a rookie coach that's replacing a legend.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
How is Mike McDonald holding up right now?
Speaker 2 (31:52):
What are your impressions of where he is mentally at
this point of his rookie season as a head coach?
Speaker 9 (32:00):
Oh yeah, I think I think mentally and all that,
I think these guys are so resilient anyone who's been
around high level ball. And obviously he's played in a
lot of big time moments as a decordinator, both of
the college and at the NFL level, just as recently
with a really good Baltimore team the last few years.
So that kind of stuff doesn't really save you know,
these guys at this level. But you know, listen, there's
(32:20):
probably some frustration. He's a defensive minded guy, and you know,
they they put they hang their hat on being good
on their side of the ball when you're the head
coach and you're also heavily involved in the play calling
on the defensive side, So there's no question they've got
to be better.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
You know.
Speaker 9 (32:34):
And I think everyone has all these questions about Geno
and the ten to ten interceptions and the miss throws
and the pass heavy offense. I think they could take
a lot of pressure off of Gino and be able
to spend a little bit more time running the ball
with Tennis Walker and being operating out of neutral downs
in the pech play action game and under center if
the defense played a little bit better. But I think
(32:55):
right now, until further notice, Geno and these offensive skill
players or the strength of this roster are they have
to come into a game, especially a game like today,
and say, hey, we got to score thirty to win.
And then for every stop that the defense of Seattle
can get, every field goal in the red zone, that
they force a takeaway, a three and out, a punt,
that thirty number kind of starts trickling down, but bumping
(33:19):
out of the gates, they've got to be aggressive on offense,
they've got to continue to push the ball downfield and
try to challenge San Francisco in the passing game, albeit
making good decisions at the quarterback position. That's really been
their big hurdle. And then defensively, they have to find
a way to get some stops and that's been a
challenge for them this year. And you know this forty
(33:39):
nine or offense, you're not going to get a lot
of three and out, so when you get in the
red zone, you got to force field goals. That's the
one area that this forty nine er team has really
struggled with it is converting They got the most red
zone trips in the league and just not converting touchdowns
at a very high percentage. So that's really that's probably
the biggest achilles field right now. And this can't if
you're Seattle, this can't be the day that you allow
(34:00):
San Francisco to find their groove in the red zone.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
Well, no one breaks it down better than this man.
That's why we love to have them on our show.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
Greg.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
We always appreciate the time we'll be watching Seahawks forty
nine ers.
Speaker 9 (34:10):
Thanks Greg, all right, thanks thanks for having me on.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
That's greg Olsen. By the way, Rich Justin Tucker just
missed another field goal.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Oh my gosh, this is.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
A fifty yarder, but forty seven and fifty yards everyone
else seems to be automatic. Justin Tucker oh for two
on field goal attempts. They showed John Harby's coach on
the sideline. He was shaking his head like, what the
f is going on with a future Hall of Fame
field goal kicker? Three nothing, Steelers a minute to go
in the first quarter. All right, we're rolling on here.
(34:38):
We got a lot to cover. Eight games going on
right now in the NFL. This is red Zone radio.
Speaker 10 (34:44):
Golf up under center, single back behind him, these gifts
on second down, they give it to Jamir hesitates guts
left looking for the edge, so the end.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
Zone touchdown Detroit Lyons look to the left side, didn't
find anything there, fun out and look left wide open,
takes it to the house.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
That's ninety seven to won the ticket.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Lions Radio Network Lions with a big fourteen to three lead.
No surprise over the Jaguars early on in that game.
Once again, this is red Zone Radio. We Alive from
the ti iraq dot Com studio. Steve hartbin rich Ornberger.
I don't know if you've seen the Jets game, but okay,
this is where I almost feel like Aaron Rodgers is
(35:27):
going to walk out. So Colts lead this game ten
to nothing. Jets have the ball on their own thirty
nine yard line, fourth and one on their own thirty
nine yard line, and they decide to go for it.
And it seems like one of those situations where you know,
because Aaron Rodgers is really good at drawing teams offside, right,
so he's back there in the shotgun. He's barking out
(35:49):
signals and the tight end goes in motion. Tyler Conklin.
Conklin stops behind the center and takes a direct snap
and goes nowhere.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
I've stopped in his tracks.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Turnover on downs, and now the Colts, already up ten nothing,
have the ball in Jets territory, and of course, as
this play completely unravels, there's Aaron Rodgers with the best
seat in the house to watch this debacle. This might
have been one of the worst calls I've ever seen
in my life, in your own territory at home. Already
(36:24):
down ten to nothing, and now they hand the ball
right back to the Colts.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
Yeah, I think that coaches can panic when they get
into a situation where where they have an early deficit
they're facing. They get too cute. Sometimes you see it
all across the NFL. You see it a lot more
in college football because I think that's more of a
proving ground than the NFL, as you have more polished
(36:49):
coordinators obviously making their ranks up to these NFL teams.
But it still happens. And I don't understand how anybody
in today's football could look at ten points as feeling
somewhat insurmountable, even if the numbers suggest that you should
be aggressive in a situation like that, Like if the
book tells you, like in Blackjack, hey you got to
(37:11):
hit on this because the dealer's showing this card, or hey,
you got to stay on this because the dealer's showing
this card.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
You don't always go by the book.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
You don't always go Sometimes it's about what you've seen.
Not everything happens in a vacuum. And so I think
it's a bad choice and they'll pay for it.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
By the way, there's a good news and not so
good news for the Cleveland Browns. Good news Jameis Winston
just threw an eighty nine yard touchdown pass to Jerry Judy.
The bad news is there's no extra point on that.
One extra point was missed. I don't know what happened there.
Oh wow, seven six, all right, seven six Saints. But anyway,
(37:49):
eighty nine yard. See, that's the thing about Jameis Winston, right,
he's one of those guys.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
Yeah, it's boomer Bus.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
It's Boomer Bus. That's what he's always been this way.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
You know, is statistical season in that last year in
Tampa will go down the record books. I mean, with
thirty three touchdowns, thirty interceptions, over five thousand yards passing
that year was absolutely insane what he did. I believe
he had seven pick sixes that year, which was one
of the most remarkable records of all time. But anyway, yeah,
(38:20):
immediately though, the States have answered back in fact, whether
they just scoring seventy one yard touchdown pass from Derek
Carr to all this scantling. So now fourteen to six
Saints take the lead over a Cleveland Browns team that
we keep have to remind ourselves, rich this was a
playoff team a year ago, well.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
They were, and the Saints looked like a playoff team
earlier this season, and they started kind of crawling back
into you know those old ways against the Falcons last week.
That a season high five passes of twenty yards or
more in last week's victory over Atlanta. The Cleveland Browns
they're kind of licking their wounds going into their bye
week after a Week nine loss to the Chargers where
(39:01):
they gave up a pair of deep touchdown passes to
La So there's a little bit of what the Saints
have done well very recently is exactly what the Browns
need to shore up.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
And again it's reared its head.
Speaker 4 (39:15):
This Cleveland, or should say this Cleveland team seems to
be able to put up points in a hurry when
Jamis is on and the Saints can answer.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
So we may see a shootout here in this one.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Steelers defense is good.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Let me give you an illustration, Lamar Jackson, your leader
right now in the clubhouse, in terms of the MVP award,
is four of twelve passing, four of twelve passing. Early
on in this game, Ravens have had two justin Tucker
miss field goals. It's not like the Steelers offense is
doing anything Russell Wilson five of eight for sixteen yards.
(39:50):
It's been sacked twice, six net yards. Steelers only have
thirty one yards of offense. But they're winning. Isn't that
just the story with the Steelers week after week? Yeah,
But but they're winning somehow, some way. All Right, we
got a lot going on with these eight games. Are
actually heading toward halftime in many of these games right
now for all the latest, keep it right here.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 1 (40:12):
Here's the snack sprint, all right.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
Pro Darnold back to pass hitting the pros.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
Finds Addison over the metal twenty five twenty.
Speaker 11 (40:18):
Here's that ten to five touchdown.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
Suregon Addison put this fourth touchdown this season, hits up
forty seven yards right. That is k Fan one hundred
point three FM. Vikings Radio Network. Vikings have just scored
again on a Sam Darnold keeper from one yard out.
(40:44):
So the Vikings spending the extra point now with a
thirteen to three lead on the road against the Tennessee Titans.

(41:07):
com the way tire buying should be. So most of
these games, rich are going pretty much as advertised. Let's
stay with the Vikings though for a moment here, because
this is a team you know, got off to that
phenomenal start, undefeated start, and over the last couple of weeks,
Sam Darnald has not been as sharp as we saw
him earlier in this year. Now, right now, he's off
(41:28):
to a great start. After that long touchdown pass to
Addison forty seven yards series eight of eleven, one hundred
and eighteen yards, one touchdown. I know I've asked you
in weeks past. I'm gonna ask you again. Do you
think Sam Donald can hold up for the entire season?
Speaker 1 (41:42):
Boy?
Speaker 4 (41:43):
That is the question of the hour, because Sam Donald
he looked really good to start the season and then actually,
oddly they're onto their third straight AFC South matchup here.
They've won BOLF against the Colts and the Jaguars. But
he didn't look particularly great now turn it over the
ball three times in each of those games, However, his
(42:04):
defense has bailed him out Minnesota during those that two
game stretch, they first they forced five turnovers. So look,
that's the markings of a very very good and well
coached team. And I think Kevin O'Connell has done amazing
work in Minnesota, you know, sort of revamping the career
(42:24):
of Kirk Cousins after Zimmer moved on from Minnesota, and
the work he's done with Sam Darnold. I mean, it
is remarkable how much he's gotten out of him already
to this point this season. But Sam's got to get
back to what he was doing. I think when a
quarterback starts with a new program, with a new franchise,
(42:46):
sometimes he feels like, Okay, I just got.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
To learn this system and not screw things up.
Speaker 4 (42:52):
And then when they become more comfortable and confident, they
start thinking in the terms like all right, I know
how to do this. I've got a really help this team,
and they start playing outside the boundaries of the system.
They start taking more of the game into their own hands.
When Sam was doing a lot of listening and learning
and playing a little bit tighter, he was actually doing
(43:14):
a better job for Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
I think now that.
Speaker 4 (43:16):
He's become more comfortable and confident in Kevin O'Connell's offense,
He's actually playing a little bit worse. I'd like to
see him get back to becoming more of a game manager,
taking what the defense is giving you as opposed to
trying to unleash it and getting this team into trouble.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
Rams in a must win situation, I think. I know
it's early and they got on a great run. But
after a disappointing loss at home to Miami last week
game the Rams could have won d they played well,
they did not another touchdown pass here for Matthew Stafford.
The first one was the Cooper Cup, this one to
Pooka Nikoua. So apparently Nikoole was hurt on the play.
(43:54):
Do we have any update on that?
Speaker 3 (43:55):
But Nikooa with the touchdown, Rams take the lead over
the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (43:59):
All right.
Speaker 2 (43:59):
I want to get off base for just a second here,
because coming off a big college football Saturday yesterday, one
of the great stories in college football rich is this
Colorado Buffalo's team. As Dion Sanders has proven, without a
shadow of a doubt he knows how to be a
head coach. And I'm one of those that doubted him
(44:20):
last year. I'm eating my words right now. Dion has
done a phenomenal job to get that program back on track,
and now all of a sudden people are like, Okay,
Colorado's great, but there's a job waiting for him in Dallas,
and I remind people again take it for what it's worth.
(44:41):
Jerry Jones has hired eight coaches since he took over
ownership of that team member They only had one coach
before he was there, Tom Landry, and all eight of
them were white men. That being said, Deon Sanders was
a Super Bowl champion as a member of the Dallas Cowboys,
so he has history with that franchise. If you were
advising Dion Sanders and he got the opportunity to be
(45:05):
the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, would you advise
him to take that job or would you encourage him
to stay exactly where he is right now?
Speaker 4 (45:16):
Well, it depends on his goals in the NFL. If
his goal is to coach his son, the answer is no,
I would advise him against it, because there is no
way Jerry Jones is going to eat the money that
he's spent on Dak Prescott in guarantees in trade away
dak to make room for his son should Or Sanders,
who's going to be available in the draft. I feel
(45:38):
like this is going to be a package deal that
Dion Sanders would sooner take a job in the NFL
to a worse football team or a team who presumptively
has a worse roster to coach his son than he
would take on a challenge like coaching the Dallas Cowboys,
America's team with a narcissistic own like Jerry Jones.
Speaker 1 (46:01):
I just don't see it happening.
Speaker 2 (46:03):
So I agree with you a thousand percent. I mean,
Deon Sanders, why would you want that job right now?
Speaker 1 (46:09):
No?
Speaker 2 (46:10):
No, no, you have all this momentum going everything else.
As you said, we'll see where Shoudor goes. He is
expected to be the number one overall pick in the draft.
It looks like he and Hunter, by the way, will
be the top two picks in this year's NFL draft.
Speaker 4 (46:24):
And by the way, which like so if he is
the top pick in the NFL draft, that means that
most likely should Or is going to a real bad
football team, and most likely it's a team that would
already be shopping for a new head coach.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
So it kind of feels like hand and glove just
like it did.
Speaker 4 (46:39):
Did he take over a great, like historically great program
with the Buffs.
Speaker 2 (46:43):
But by the way, just a quick note here, Yeah,
one team that could be in the running for that
number one overall pick the New York Giants. Yeah, they're
the other long term franchise that's never had a black
head coach.
Speaker 1 (46:54):
It's interesting, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (46:56):
The Cowboys?
Speaker 1 (46:57):
Like, how how in twenty twenty four is that still?
Speaker 2 (47:00):
I mean, I think there's only four teams that have
never had a black head coach. I out of thirty two,
think about that, only four, but two of them are
the Cowboys and the Giants. And if Brian Dable is
let go after this debacle, yeah, shdor Sanders number one
overall pick. Giants have to lose a few more games
(47:23):
before they get there. But anyway, I just wanted to
get your thoughts. I'm one hundred percent of lockstep with you.
If I was Deon Sanders, the last thing on my
mind would be going to Dallas right now. That seems
like a lose lose. The Jets are down thirteen to
nothing in this game, and Anthony Richardson is seven to
nine passing for ninety nine yards, which is really good
(47:46):
for him. Aaron Rodgers is six of nine for sixteen yards.
Oh no, he has. Their longest pass play is seven yards.
Devonte Adams has two catches for zero yards. So you
(48:07):
have Garrett Wilson, you have Breise Hall, you have DeVante Adams.
You can't say this team is devoid of talent. No,
and yet they have nine yards passed. They have thirty
three total yards. Get this, thirty three total yards with
two minutes to go in the first half the Colts.
I'm at home.
Speaker 4 (48:28):
I'm gonna say something I didn't forecast saying at the
start of this season because I had still an abundance
of belief in Aaron Rodgers' talent and the fact that
he would find a way to make this situation work
in New York. If the New York Jets had a
better quarterback, they would be a much better football team.
(48:48):
And that is period, end of statement. If the New
York Jets had Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Justin
Herbert Jalen Hurts, go down the list, they would be
a much better football team. Aaron Rodgers has been hired
to be the cure and he's part of the symptom.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
I would bench him right now, Rich, I just I'm sorry.
Doesn't hurt his legacy. In my opinion, his legacy will
be his glory years of the Green Bay Packers.
Speaker 1 (49:23):
Look, could he like Youli, got benched. It didn't hurt
his legacy?
Speaker 2 (49:26):
Apparently not. They're still buzzing about the wather or not
he's a first ballot Hall of Famer, which is ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (49:31):
He's not, but you know you want to put him
first ballot.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
Whatever.
Speaker 3 (49:34):
But for Aaron Rodgers right now, he's out of it.
Speaker 2 (49:37):
Like he is. He is playing like he is completely
checked out.
Speaker 4 (49:44):
He's playing like a guy who's in his forties who's
just recently torn his achilles. Look, I mean, I don't
want to make a direct comparison because it's not opt
but we watched many of us who are fight fans
and who loved Mike Tyson and as a fighter, yeah,
as a boxer, Mike Tyson take on a man thirty
(50:05):
one years his junior and he lost.
Speaker 2 (50:08):
Yeah. I knew when I saw the knee brace on
the right knee, it was like, Okay, why is he
out there? Yeah, yeah, he literally could not.
Speaker 4 (50:15):
I fully believe that Mike Tyson still had ko power
left in his fists. You saw moments where it felt
like he backed off laying the dynamite on Paul and
getting him into trouble.
Speaker 2 (50:26):
Thank you very much. I'm glad you saw the same thing.
He pulled a couple of punches.
Speaker 4 (50:30):
There's no question, and you saw it. Trademark Tyson. So
he would duck punches, he would leap forward, and he
would follow up with.
Speaker 1 (50:37):
The right cross.
Speaker 4 (50:38):
Yeah, and then that was before he hit him hit
his opponent with an uppercut.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
Look, I watched every Mike Tyson I think was so stage.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
It was absolutely unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (50:47):
So I think Mike helped out Paul, and I think
then in the late.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
Round he got twenty million dollars to do that.
Speaker 1 (50:52):
Yeah he did.
Speaker 4 (50:53):
And I think Paul carried Mike in the late rounds.
So I think this was a brother in law agreement,
whether it was on PAP or if it was just
a handshake behind the scenes, whatever it was, they were
talking to each other in the ring. I imagine it
was Hey, good job, we're really selling this thing. Like
I can't imagine that this was the outcome that it
(51:13):
would have.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
Been if it was like the Floyd Mayweather McGregor fight.
It was the exact same thing. I mean, it was
completely staged. All both made a huge amount of money
and walk away unscathed.
Speaker 1 (51:23):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (51:24):
So that's exactly what that was. By the way, I
will say this for Netflix. I watched that. I had
a reset because of the buffering every two minutes, yep, yep,
every two minutes. And they got a NFL double header
coming up on Christmas Day.
Speaker 4 (51:38):
It's gonna be well, they'll get much lower capacity. It'll
be something more like twenty twenty five MILLI instead of
over one hundred million people tuning in at once.
Speaker 3 (51:47):
If there's even a hint of that.
Speaker 1 (51:49):
No, no, I agree, I agree they got some problems.
Speaker 4 (51:51):
For one second, the comparison I'm making you have the
the fifty eight year old Mike Tyson who's at the
end of his rope. When when an athlete is done,
they're done. Yeah, okay, and I don't want to stick
a fork into Aaron Rodgers. But but you know that's
that's not my place because I'd rather I'd rather he
(52:13):
decide when he wants to lay down the sword for good,
and that is a very personal decision to make. Every
athlete dies two deaths. You know, when you put when
you put in the ground, just like everybody else. But
you also have to mourn the loss of your career
when it's over, because there's no picking it up again
unless you're Iron Mike. I guess, but that was a
(52:33):
farce of a fight. Look, the point I'm trying to
make is Aaron Rodgers, if he's not at the end,
he's very very near the end. And and again I'll repeat,
you put in a younger fighter in the ring with
Jake Paul, that's a much different outcome. You put a
younger quote unquote better And that's an accurate statement at
this point quarterback in New York, that's a better football team,
(52:57):
and there's no questioning it. The Jets are being buoyed
by a defense that stingy, and that alone because their
quarterback has failed them.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
By the way, speaking of quarterbacks, Jared goff is thirteen
to sixteen, two hundred and five yards in a touchdown.
The Lions are leading the Jaguars twenty eight to three.
Like every time I look down, they've scored another touchdown.
Total yards in this game, Lions have three hundred and
six Jacksonville forty six. Wow, And I would say that
(53:29):
Peterson's days in Jacksonville are over.
Speaker 5 (53:33):
This might be Ben Johnson auditioning for Peterson's job right now.
Speaker 3 (53:37):
And if I was him, would I want that job?
It's a good question. I mean, if you're if you're
one of the hockeys.
Speaker 2 (53:43):
Trevor Lawrence, he was a hot commodity last year and
decided to stay in Detroit.
Speaker 3 (53:47):
You're gonna leave Detroit for that job?
Speaker 1 (53:49):
I like? But I like Trevor Lawrence?
Speaker 2 (53:53):
Do you I do?
Speaker 1 (53:54):
I was up to see.
Speaker 3 (53:56):
I picked this team to win their division.
Speaker 5 (53:58):
They share are pieces that you can build around in Jacksonville.
I think you need a wide receiver. I think you
need to improve upon the offensive line. But like I
see the vision there, Tank Bigsby and Travis Etn are
pieces you can work with. Yah, Charlie Johnson Stior, don't
forget about.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
Kay this. This defense has given up over three hundred
yards in the first half. You're talking offense, how about
the defense? All right, We'll roll on here. We got
eight games going on right now. Halftimes are right around
the corner. This is red zone.
Speaker 3 (54:29):
Radio takes the snap.
Speaker 1 (54:30):
Here comes the blitz. He looks right, steps up, checks
it down.
Speaker 3 (54:34):
Price Hall makes the catch. What's left at the twenty
at the test.
Speaker 4 (54:37):
Set the fifteenth, he's at the five touchdown.
Speaker 1 (54:40):
Price Hall found a crease.
Speaker 3 (54:42):
Had he found a lane to the end zone for
a Jet touchdown. That's Q one OZH four point three
Jets Radio Network.
Speaker 2 (54:48):
I told you Rich, do not count out Aaron Rodgers,
and the Jets do not count them out. They trail
the Colts thirteen to seven. Once again, I think nighted
a team. It doesn't. It happens every time. So when
I was talking about Aaron Rodgers should be benched, he
was sporting a passer rating in this game of sixteen.
(55:09):
Since then, his passer rating this game is now up
to one oh nine. So again, you need motivation. He
needs a jumpstart for your team. He needs something to
motivate the guys. Come to me, because as soon as
I'm critical that team suddenly becomes a juggernaut, or on
the flip side, as soon as I start overpraising a team,
(55:32):
they go into a free fall. So the Jets trail
that Colts thirteen to seven at the half. Let's see
if the Jets at home can come back to win
this one once the red zone radio here, we're live
from the Tie iraq dot comstaday is It's pretty amazing
how it happens almost every single time.
Speaker 4 (55:48):
Yeah, yeah, well listen, Aaron Rodgers didn't exactly make you right,
but Breise Hall did. Yeah, that was just a five
yard checkdown because Aaron ran out of time in the pocket.
He was surveying the downfield. Colts did a nice job
in coverage deep, but whoops, they forgot about the speedster
over the middle. So he catches the ball underneath zone
(56:08):
coverage and literally sprints pass like two or three defenders
down the left sideline untouched for twenty nine yard touchdown reception.
So look, it doesn't matter how you get in the
N zone. You just got to do it often enough
to beat the team you're facing. I mean, that's Look,
this is a scoreboard sport, it's not. It's not like
(56:31):
college football where you have to win with style.
Speaker 1 (56:34):
You just have to win.
Speaker 4 (56:36):
So whether the Jets win ugly or they win pretty,
whether the Jets pile up points or they win with defense,
it doesn't matter. If they want to stay in the
wildcard conversation, they must find a way to beat the Colts.
And right now it's a ball game, all right.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
Updating some of the scores, the Ravens have finally taken
the lead seven to six over the Steelers on a
Derreck Henry run. By the way, the overall there on
this game was forty eight and a half. I took
the under yesterday looking pretty good thirteen points forty eight
and a half over under. We mentioned the Jets Colts game.
Saints lead the Browns fourteen to six, minute to go
(57:12):
on the first half. There Rams over the Patriots fourteen
to ten, minute to go on the half there halftime,
Dolphins lead the Raiders, but only ten to six. Viking's
up sixteen to three on the road against the Titans
minut and a half to go in the half there
almost a half time. Mercifully for the Jaguars, they trailed
the Lions twenty eight to three. And how about this,
(57:33):
Bears lead the Packers ten to seven at the half.
Jordan Love eight of twelve ninety nine yards a touchdown.
The score Caleb Williams nine to twelve eighty five yards
a clean slate, no interceptions.
Speaker 3 (57:47):
Big story here. Caleb Williams sixty yards rushing.
Speaker 2 (57:51):
In this game, so his legs have, at least for
the first half, helped the Bears to a lead.
Speaker 12 (57:57):
Can I ask you guys a question real quick about
the Bears here? Do you guys remember after the I
think it was the Colts game the Bears played, Matt
Eberflus publicly said that he wanted Caleb to be less
risk averse or be throw the ball with less risk,
you know, take care of the ball. Do you think
that might have been? Like what hurt the growth that
we've saw from Caleb Earler in the season.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
What's part of his game?
Speaker 12 (58:19):
Like, Yeah, that's that's how he plays, is by putting
the ball in spots where it might get picked off.
But it also might be a forty card.
Speaker 3 (58:24):
Game, right. I mean, I'm very curious.
Speaker 2 (58:26):
I've never understood I understanding Rich You've talked about this
many times about the quarterbacks that are mobile, they have
a shorter shelf life.
Speaker 3 (58:34):
But if that's your game, you got to use it
while you can.
Speaker 4 (58:37):
Yeah, listen, a great point that you brought up there,
Bow and Steve, Yeah, we've talked about this many times,
you have to lean into it.
Speaker 1 (58:46):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (58:46):
Everybody wants to have a quarterback that's gonna man the
position for twenty years, like Tom Brady did in New England.
But he's an albatross. He's an exception, he's not the rule.
Most quarterbacks aren't gonna last that long. Most quarterbacks are
going to fade than that. Most quarterbacks are gonna have
a shelf life anyway, whether they're a pocket passer or
(59:06):
a dual threat quarterback like for example, Russell Wilson or
Cam Newton. You know, I mean, there is a shelf light.
There is an expiration date. We've seen it over time,
so lean into it. Caleb Williams, you know, this conversation
reminds me of something Wade Phillips said to me and
Steve years ago.
Speaker 1 (59:24):
We were interviewing the old coach and he goes, hey, listen.
Speaker 4 (59:28):
He was like, there's a lot of offensive and defensive
coordinators and head coaches frankly who will tout their great system.
Speaker 1 (59:34):
And he put that in air quotes. Yeah, and he goes, well,
here's the deal.
Speaker 4 (59:38):
If you have a great player who can't play great
in your great system, you have a bad system.
Speaker 1 (59:44):
So If the Bears believed enough in Caleb Williams talent.
Speaker 4 (59:48):
To take him with the first overall draft pick of
this year's NFL draft and he's not playing well, you gotta.
Speaker 1 (59:56):
Start shining the flashlight on yourself.
Speaker 4 (59:58):
You have to start saying, what are we not doing
to amplify his talents that we thought so highly of
that we could have selected anybody, and we chose him.
Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
So they got to figure this out that I agree
with you bo.
Speaker 4 (01:00:13):
They got to start leaning into what he does best,
what comes naturally to him, and then build off there.
Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
All right, the Jags are on their way back.
Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
They kicked a field goal right before and to a
half to cut the lines, lead to twenty eight to six.
Speaker 3 (01:00:29):
One's getting spicy?
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
And then Doug Peterson ran to the sideline to do
a quick interview on you know, how do you feel
now that you got that field goal before they have?
Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
Can I tell you about it?
Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
In that lead to twenty eight to six?
Speaker 4 (01:00:44):
If I were a head coach, this happens in college
football too, because everything you know, they both influence each other,
so networks if they get away within the NFL, they.
Speaker 1 (01:00:53):
Want to do it in college also, man, oh man.
Speaker 4 (01:00:55):
If I'm a head coach and I'm in the middle
of a football game and all of a sudden, I
have my sports information director or my public relations manager, yeah,
tugging on the back of my shirt and like, hey, coach, coach,
you gotta do a quick interview with the sideline reporter.
I'm going to be so pissed. I mean, can you imagine, Like,
(01:01:17):
it's just it's so absurd to me. Why can't we
wait to halftime? What nuggets of wisdom are we getting
from a head coach in game? It's all coach speak.
Speaker 1 (01:01:26):
Just leave them alone, let them coach well.
Speaker 2 (01:01:29):
And by the way, they say, they do that for
the audience, right, we're giving the fans what they want.
Do we really want that? No, no, we don't care
about that. We just want to watch the game. All right,
Let's find out what's trending right now. And I been
watching Monsey's face route because I was going to try
to get a read on her fantasy team.
Speaker 7 (01:01:49):
Oh, you know, not too shabby.
Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
You've had a little bit of a mixed reaction going on.
Speaker 7 (01:01:53):
Yeah, it's not too shabby.
Speaker 8 (01:01:55):
I got players playing later more than anything, but not
too shabby. For me, I had to play I'm saying,
I told you, guys, Drake may today because I had
Baker Mayfield on a bye and then Dak Prescott died
on me.
Speaker 7 (01:02:06):
So I picked up Drake may and he's not too shabby.
Speaker 8 (01:02:09):
So it's a close game, and that's what I need
so he can keep throwing the ball, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 7 (01:02:13):
It's like, I don't need to blow out here. I
need a close game so he can keep throwing the
ball and doing what he does.
Speaker 8 (01:02:18):
Eight games going out right now, guys, pretty much either
at halftime or headed into halftime.
Speaker 7 (01:02:23):
We'll start here with the Bears, who finally got in
the end zone. I think it was like more than.
Speaker 8 (01:02:28):
Twenty five consecutive possessions without actually getting in the end
zone for the Bears. Well, Roshawn Johnson has changed that.
The Bears are now on top of the Packers at
ten seven. It's all lines against the Jags completely.
Speaker 7 (01:02:41):
David Montgomery and the.
Speaker 8 (01:02:42):
End zone twice. Eight carries, fifty one yards, two touchdowns.
I'm on Ross Saint Brown seven catches eighty one yards,
one touchdown. Jared Goff two hundred and five yards and
a touchdown in the air twenty eight to six is
a score there.
Speaker 7 (01:02:52):
The Vikings are beating the Titans sixteen to three.
Speaker 8 (01:02:55):
Sam Darnold one hundred and forty eight yards and a
touchdown in the air. He also has a rushing touchdown
so far. The Dolphins beating the Raiders ten to six.
They're about to start the third quarter in this one.
The Rams extended their lead a little bit over the
Patriots fourteen to ten. Is the score headed to halftime
as we speak. The Browns, I think did they let
them kick again? The Browns missed a field goal, but
(01:03:16):
I think I saw a flag, so I don't.
Speaker 7 (01:03:17):
Know if they went for it again.
Speaker 8 (01:03:19):
But the Saints are beating the Browns fourteen to six
right now, and the Browns still have.
Speaker 7 (01:03:23):
The ball knocking on the door to score before halftime.
Speaker 8 (01:03:26):
Cults are beating the Jets, but the Jets did get
in the end zone. Aaron Rodgers connecting with Breeze Hall
for a twenty nine yard touchdown. Pass culture up thirteen
to seven, though, and the Ravens Dereck Henry rushing touchdown.
He has scored at least one touchdown every week this
season with the Ravens, so eleven for eleven so far,
and the Ravens are beating the Steelers seven six.
Speaker 7 (01:03:47):
There's about thirty eight seconds to go in the game.
See if the Ravens can get some more points before halftime.
Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
Back to you guys, all right, Monsie, thank you very
very much once again Red Zone Radio. Here, you know,
Rich speaking of great running backs. It's like a two
man battle right now for the rushing title between Dereck
Henry and Saquon Barkley. And it always gets back to
the old argument about how do you define most valuable player.
(01:04:14):
Here's what I see in Philadelphia right now is the
Eagles suddenly have found themselves again. I don't think you
can underscore, especially since Hurts is not exactly lighting it up,
the impact that Saquon Barkley has had on that football team.
He's so excited to get out of New York, excited
(01:04:34):
to put on an Eagles uniform. And I know Lamar
Jackson's been putting up some pretty impressive numbers this year.
But if you actually think about it, has there been
a more valuable player so far to his team than
Saquon Barkley has been for the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (01:04:51):
Ooh, that is such a good question. You know, we're
just talking to Greg Olsen earlier.
Speaker 4 (01:05:00):
Hit'll comes to mind because I think without him, I
think the forty nine Ers season could have slumped. He
saved them in at least two games, filling in admirably
and filling up the stat the box score.
Speaker 1 (01:05:14):
For brock Purty, I would make an argument for him.
Speaker 4 (01:05:19):
Sam Donald comes to mind, even though he hasn't played
well through this middle portion of the season. The Vikings,
after losing JJ McCarthy, their presumptive starter, Sam Donald comes
in and is playing like an MVP candidate to start
the season.
Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:05:35):
So, there's a couple of guys when you look around
the NFL and you think about their team's success without
that player, could they have had that level of success?
Speaker 1 (01:05:44):
And the answer is probably not.
Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
But Saquon Barkley is certainly certainly on the short list
of players who have helped save a season or highlight
amplify season for a team. And with Philadelphia, if that
running back is in the backfield, their record looks vastly
different than it does.
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
Well, let's look at Bob Bo. You had given up
on this team a few weeks back. Now obviously you're
back with your beloved Eagles. I mean, I'm you know, look,
we always look at the MVP as a quarterback award.
We haven't had a running back win MVP since Adrian
Peterson way back in the day. I mean, and Barkley
(01:06:25):
he ends up you know, he's on pace for nineteen
hundred yards rushing. Yeah, if he puts up those kind
of numbers, that's a lot of yards rushing. And I mean,
if if they end up winning the East, you know,
you know, I would love to see a running back
win the MVP. I know it's almost like, well, they'll
give them Offensive Player of the Year. No, no, no, no, no, no,
(01:06:48):
Most Valuable Player.
Speaker 12 (01:06:50):
I don't think that Lamar Jackson should win another one.
I think there might be some voter fatigue finally coming
in for him, so maybe you can cross him off
and then yeah you're down to like Sakwan Derek Henry.
Speaker 3 (01:07:01):
But has been really I would for the Eagles.
Speaker 12 (01:07:04):
I think the the key for them though, has been
Quiny and Mitchell out of Toledo, the defensive back. He's
been insanely good. Like you have Eagles fans debating if
it's Quintanamo Bay or Quinnanamo Bay, as they should call him,
like they want to give him nicknames already, But if
you just go look at who he's matched up against
and how badly he's locking them down, Like they might
not be on this win streak if it wasn't for him.
(01:07:25):
He raised Terry McLaurin from that game on Thursday.
Speaker 1 (01:07:27):
That was unreal. Yeah, that was unreal.
Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
So you're you're still of the mindset though, if the
Eagles win the Super Bowl this year, you would still
fire Nick Sirianni.
Speaker 12 (01:07:35):
It depends on how they win. Yeah, Like if it's
a blowout. Yeah, if it's a blowout, I don't know
if you could do that right. But you know, if
it's like a field goal and you just hand him
his walking papers as he's holding the trophy on the stage.
Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
I would be I, I can't, I can't go this far.
Speaker 12 (01:07:51):
Do you think Doug Peterson even comes out of the
half with the Jaguars, Ben Jonson might have to switch sidelines.
Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
I think they sent him back to lunch.
Speaker 12 (01:08:00):
You had I and Rappaport like tweet yesterday that if
the Jaguars get blown out, the changes are going to happen.
Speaker 5 (01:08:04):
While like Sean Cohn's got his Mega yacht parked off
of Jacksonville just stunted.
Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
Well, let me ask you guys as we look at
Doug Peterson. Yeah, I mean, would they be what two
and ten? I mean, come on, do you think do
you think Bill Belichick is ever going to come back?
Speaker 1 (01:08:22):
I do.
Speaker 4 (01:08:23):
I think I think that he wants Don Shula's record.
I think there's unfinished business for Bill Belichick. I don't
think he's going to be back.
Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
He went to Jacksonville. It might take five more years,
okay to real in Shula's record.
Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
I mean that's the part of it, right, I mean,
if you're Belichick.
Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
It's a history play behind a mess in New England
that they're trying to unravel over the next few years.
But but what if you really want to walk into
a bad situation and try to rebuild.
Speaker 1 (01:08:51):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (01:08:52):
So the answer is no, I don't think he has
energy or the interest to walk into a situation where
he has to tear something down to the studs and rebuild.
But I do think he would be interested in any
team that has a high level or I should say,
a high ceiling quarterback, and Jacksonville does have a high
(01:09:14):
ceiling quarterback. Trevor Lawrence is not a bad quarterback. Trevor Lawrence.
I I look, and this is just my opinion. There's
a lot of people who disagree with me. But I
think has incredible potential. I think he's been held back
by a variety of territories.
Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
Hires somebody rich that can tutor him up. See that
Plichick is not that guy.
Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
Well, Josh McDaniels is jobless right now.
Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
I'm just saying it worked with Tom Brady in New
England for years as Belichick's offensive coordinator, just as the
head coach doesn't work, but he works well under Bill.
Speaker 12 (01:09:48):
Is there somewhere Bill could go that he could work
with Tom Brady again?
Speaker 1 (01:09:51):
Well? Yeah, the Raiders want right Yea.
Speaker 3 (01:09:56):
I talked about that earlier, but.
Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
I know you did, Steve. But he Here's the thing,
could he? Lord? You asked me the question, could Tom
Brady lore Bill Belichick to the Raiders? I said, yes,
I think he could.
Speaker 4 (01:10:07):
However, if Bill houses Druthers, is he going to go
to a team that doesn't have a quarterback currently on
the roster with a high ceiling, high potential. I don't
think he will because the draft, as he found out
with Mac Jones, is a complete crapshoot. Not everybody's coming
out and being Tom Brady, you know so. I mean
(01:10:28):
Tom Brady was the most special quarterback to ever play
in the National Football League, and he was. He benefited
from the Patriots selecting him in the sixth round.
Speaker 1 (01:10:36):
They got lucky getting Tom.
Speaker 2 (01:10:38):
See, a lot of people are looking at this draft
as a one quarterback draft with like, there's Schadeur Sanders,
and then I mean Dylan Gabriel's five to eleven.
Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
He played six years at college football. Same thing with
cam Ward.
Speaker 2 (01:10:51):
I mean, these guys, you know they're playing forever, three
different schools.
Speaker 1 (01:10:55):
Let me give you a team.
Speaker 2 (01:10:55):
Shador Sanders is the only projected high level talent in
this draft.
Speaker 4 (01:11:02):
Historic team woven into the fabric of the lore of
the National Football League.
Speaker 1 (01:11:10):
You know that stuff is important to Bill Belichick.
Speaker 4 (01:11:13):
High potential young quarterback who you could imagine if Josh
McDaniel says, Bill's OC got his hands on him, they
could probably do some special things.
Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
If Matt Eberflus gets canned and you have an opportunity
to sign Bill Belichick as your head coach, I'm sure
you would consider it, if not take the job.
Speaker 1 (01:11:33):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:11:33):
You heard from Tom Brady during a recent Fox broadcast
from the broadcast Booth talking about how Chicago was on
the shortlist.
Speaker 1 (01:11:40):
Nobody knew it.
Speaker 4 (01:11:42):
Nobody knew that Chicago was on the shortlist until he
told everybody in free agency when he decided on Tampa Bay.
Chicago made the top three. So I could see Chicago
trying their hardest to lure Bill Belichick in, and I
think I think it would work. They got a pretty
stout defense. They got a lot of playmakers around that offense.
(01:12:02):
That's kind of a just add water and mixed team
if you have the right coach.
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
All right, Steelers just kicked the field goal right before
the half. This was the slowest drive in the history
of the NFL. This thing just dragged on and on.
They settled for a field goal seven seconds left and
a half. Steelers lead the Ravens by a score of
nine to seven. By the way, the Steelers have beaten
the Ravens seven of their last eight games. They have
owned the Ravens all right. On the other side, we
(01:12:27):
continue on as we actually have games heady into and
starting the third quarter, including that Jets Colts matchup a
repeat of Super Bowl three. Naymith in United Home. No,
it's not Richard Rogers exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:12:45):
This is red Zone radio.
Speaker 10 (01:12:46):
There's the Snapjared backs, Jared looking, looking, looking, throwing middle.
Speaker 4 (01:12:51):
Yeah, count it down five end zone touchdown, had a
step of the defender, angle to the end zone, took
it to the house.
Speaker 1 (01:12:59):
Pennli's added to their lead.
Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
Cz is a pc.
Speaker 1 (01:13:03):
Gough to dom and Ron.
Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
That's ninety seven to one the Ticket Lions radio network.
And it only gets worse for Jacksonville. Lions just scored again,
sixty four yard touchdown pass to start the second half,
Jared Goff to Jamison Williams. They lead thirty five to six.
Once again, this is red Zone Radio. Steve Hartman and
(01:13:27):
rich Ornberger from the tire Raq dot Com studios. I
don't know if Peterson is going to make it to
the end of the game the way this is going.
I mean, as an owner, you see your team down
twenty eight to three, kick a field goal right before
the half, and then less than two minutes in the
second half give up a sixty four yard bomb for
(01:13:47):
a touchdown thirty five to six.
Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
I look at Doug Peterson as a guy who you know, Look,
I'm not saying he had lucked into a champimionship with
the Philadelphia Eagles, because I really do think he did
a stunning job handling that that season with Carson Wentz.
Speaker 1 (01:14:08):
And he goes down. He's on an MVP type season, yea.
Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
And sometimes he's able to finish things out with a
backup and win a super Bowl. And in that Super Bowl,
Nick Foles is able to outdual Tom Brady like I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
How coach Belichick in that game.
Speaker 1 (01:14:25):
There's no doubt. There's no doubt.
Speaker 4 (01:14:26):
I mean he looks sometimes you're the bear. Sometimes you
get caught by the bear.
Speaker 1 (01:14:30):
That time.
Speaker 4 (01:14:31):
Doug Peterson, he was the monstrous killing machine in the cave.
And Bill Belichick, I don't think the Patriots ever saw coming.
That was a very good and talented Patriots.
Speaker 2 (01:14:44):
And then he took over Jacksonville, complete mess after the
debacle that was Urban Meyer, and within two years they're
a playoff team.
Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
Yeah, I mean so, I mean they played against the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
He overstays is welcome.
Speaker 2 (01:14:58):
Some guys have this. I remember one of the greatest
coaches of all time, Larry Brown, you know, basketball coach
who I knew from my UCLA DA's if you look
at his track are very similar. He could take over
the worst situation and make it good or great in
a short amount of time. But then all of a sudden,
something doesn't go right and we're seeing it. What happened
(01:15:19):
in Philadelphia to Peterson is now happening again in Jacksonville.
Speaker 4 (01:15:23):
Well, and I'll tag along with this, and I'll say
that we've seen it before in the NFL, and we
may be seeing it again.
Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
We'll see.
Speaker 4 (01:15:31):
But Jim Harbaugh over state is welcome in San Francisco.
All of a sudden, the message wins stale players couldn't
stand him in forty nine er Land and he got
shipped out, and so he goes to his alma mater.
And that was a little bit slower of an assent
for Jim Harbaugh. Took a couple of years. Now they
(01:15:54):
had some success, but they weren't having success the way
that Michigan Wolverine's fans want them too. He wins the
National Championship, he skips out of town because the scene
was getting pretty hot for Jim Harbaugh. You know, all
of the show caused stuff was being discussed and suspension talks.
So he leaves, he goes to the Chargers and he's
doing a magnificent job. But we'll see because, like you
(01:16:15):
mentioned with Doug Peterson, the last time Jim Harbaugh appeared
in the NFL, he had about what was it, four
solid seasons well with San Francisco and then had all
unraveled on him.
Speaker 2 (01:16:25):
Right, But it was like right after they lost that
Super Bowl. A year later everything started unravel and then
he was gone. Then he got the Michigan job. Colts
have retaken the lead sixteen to fourteen over the Jets
in one of the most anticipated matchups of the day.
Not let's see here, Rams are up twenty one to
ten over the Patriots and Matthew Stafford is having a
(01:16:48):
day twelve of seventeen two hundred and twenty two yards,
three touchdowns and no picks, two of those touchdowns to
Cooper cups. So the Rams rebounds. Interesting. You have the
Dolphins do the cross country trip and deliver a victory
against the Rams.
Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
That's so far. Now the Rams doing the cross country
trip the other.
Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
Way and now leading twenty one to ten early in
the second half against the Patriots.
Speaker 4 (01:17:16):
Yeah, look, The Rams are quality football team, and it
comes down to two positions that they have filled with
really talented people. And if you look across the NFL,
when you got these two boxes checked, you're in good shape.
Quarterback and the head coach, Matthew Stafford is like a
mad scientist back there.
Speaker 1 (01:17:35):
You're never gonna fool him.
Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
He's gonna make the decision eighty five ninety percent of
the time, and he's got the arm strength to get
the football there when he's healthy, and he is healthy
right now. And then you have Sean McVay, who, in
my estimation, is one of the brightest coaches we've seen
in the NFL in the past twenty years. And that's
saying a lot, because there have been some really smart
(01:17:58):
coaches who have they're coached and retired in that time
span or currently coaching right now.
Speaker 1 (01:18:05):
Sean McVay is great at this.
Speaker 4 (01:18:06):
And so the Rams, it doesn't matter what their record
looks like what point of the season, they are a
dangerous team and going on the road cross country not easy,
especially playing in Foxborough even with the three win Patriots team,
not an easy place to win. Those are avid fans.
They cheer on their team with fervor the Rams if
(01:18:27):
they get this win. Don't overlook this, even though they're
they're road favorites. This is this would be a big
win for the Rams to get their record back to
five hundred.
Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
You think Arizona's going to keep it up?
Speaker 1 (01:18:38):
Boy, that's the question of the of the season.
Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
They seem better every week.
Speaker 4 (01:18:43):
Yeah. Kyler Murray, the Kyler Murray question is the most
fascinating question. He's done this to us so many times
where he's roared out to a start like this where
sometimes even in past seasons, we've said Kyler Murray MVP,
Kyler Murray, MVP, and then he he just tails off.
Speaker 1 (01:19:01):
I don't know if I can trust it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:03):
Because of that reason, Jameis Winston is actually putting up
some pretty decent numbers today even though the Browns are
trailing the Saints fourteen to six. He's fifteen or twenty
four two hundred and thirty four yards one touchdown in
no picks. Wow, And Jerry Judy fort Keats is under
twenty seven yards in a touchdown. Remember they got him
from Demra Emmers. Like, yeah, he could be a possible
(01:19:25):
help to Deshaun Watson.
Speaker 3 (01:19:28):
YEP, yeap the Browns. I mean, you talk about a predicament.
Speaker 1 (01:19:33):
What do you do?
Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
Do you just eat that contract that they yes gave
Deshaun Watson? Do you have any trust moving forward with
Jameis Winston. That's just crazy, I get it.
Speaker 4 (01:19:44):
I mean, look, Jamis isn't the long term fix, but
Deshaun Watson isn't either, right, So you.
Speaker 1 (01:19:50):
Gotta move on.
Speaker 4 (01:19:51):
You have to move on from if you're making the
decision with your football brain instead of your business brain.
You look at the contract and you cut your losses
and you move on.
Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
We have eight games around the NFL. All of them
are in the second half. We'll cover all the stats
of scores for you. This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:20:08):
Back to throw to a looking pressure going to his left.
Speaker 10 (01:20:12):
It's away from one defender still at this date, throw
to terraate touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
That's Fox Sports nine forty Dolphins Radio Network, Dolphins leading
the Raiders seventeen.
Speaker 3 (01:20:23):
To twelve a minute to go in the third quarter
in that game.
Speaker 2 (01:20:25):
And this is Red Zone Radio broadcasting live from the
tire rack dot Com studios tire rack dot Com. We're
gonna get you there. An unmatted selection, fast free shipping
free road ads of protection over ten thousand recommended, and
installers tie iraq dot com the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
I am powering through this show thanks to you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
Thanks so much.
Speaker 1 (01:20:45):
Well, you're doing a great job.
Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
So just trying to power my way through this show.
The Lions are about to score. Is there a mercy rule?
What's going on here? I mean, seriously, it's the Lions again,
already leading the Jaguars thirty five to six second down
at the Jacksonville seven teen yard line.
Speaker 5 (01:21:01):
The Jaguars secondary is not stopping anything today. And while
their run defense was doing well, I don't think it's
holding up against the run attack either.
Speaker 2 (01:21:11):
Yeah, they've held.
Speaker 3 (01:21:12):
Lions are doing whenever they want.
Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
Six and a half minutes to go in the third quarter,
rich and the Lions have four hundred and sixty four
total yards.
Speaker 5 (01:21:21):
If they score here, expect to see Hendon Hooker a
lot in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
Yeah, four hundred and sixty four total yards. Jacksonville has
one hundred and five.
Speaker 4 (01:21:29):
Well, you know, to the Lion's credit, they added Zadarius Smith,
who makes his debut against Jacksonville after being traded from Cleveland,
and the whole goal is to do exactly what they're doing,
to continue rolling offensively and to build up this defense.
Is aiden Hutchinson watches on from the booth upstairs instead
(01:21:52):
of being on the field with his teammates. And so
far that little experiment's going pretty swimmingly because his defense
has stepped up in a major.
Speaker 1 (01:21:59):
Way against a team that's struggling.
Speaker 4 (01:22:01):
Albeit Jacksonville has not been a juggernaut offensively this season,
but still, this is exactly what you're hoping for.
Speaker 2 (01:22:08):
Speaking of a lack of offense, the Tennessee Titans, Wow,
they have one hundred. They have ninety three yards of
offense ten minutes to go in the third quarter, trailing
the Vikings sixteen to three. Outside of his mayonnaise commercial,
Will Levis eight to fifteen, ninety two yards, no touchdowns,
(01:22:29):
no picks, and they have no running game either. Pollard
has ten yards rushing. Levis actually has the most yards
rushing for this team at seventeen. Where is the Titans
franchise going? I know they're going to hell this year,
but where where do they go from here?
Speaker 1 (01:22:45):
I mean, the only way you can go is up right?
I mean, it's is that with Will Levis. Well, I
don't think it's with Will Levis.
Speaker 4 (01:22:52):
I think that they've failed now twice to bring in
a second round quarterback and make it work for them.
They tried this with Malik Willis out of Liberty, and
then Will Levis this most recent draft. And yeah, look,
I here's the way I look at Will Levis. He
is boomer bust, but the busts right now outweigh any
(01:23:14):
of the booms. And Mason Rudolph is as competent a
quarterback running this system in Tennessee as Will Levis is.
Now you bring in Brian Callahan, who's the former offensive
coordinator worked with Joe Burrow, and the offense in Tennessee
is a far cry from what it looked like in
Cincinnati with Callahan manning that position there. And the biggest
(01:23:39):
difference is because the Cincinnati Bengals have Joe Burrow. Yeah,
you think things get a lot harder when you don't
have a quarterback as capable and as intelligent and as
predictive as Joe Burrow. Part of the reason why Joe
Burrow was so incredible was because of his mind. It
felt like those things that normally trip up younger quarterbacks
(01:24:01):
in the league were things that he already had a
knack for, you know, throwing blitz pickups at him where
he's got to throw off a you know, throw a
hot route over the top of a blitzing defense, you know,
end of game situation. He's been clutched so many times,
but that stuff was going on early in is in
his process. And so when you have the benefit of
(01:24:21):
working with a player like that, and then you are
you become the head man with a franchise that doesn't
have that kind of talent at the quarterback position, it
gets hard.
Speaker 1 (01:24:31):
It gets really hard. This league is really hard without
a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:24:35):
And at two and seven, soon to be two and
eight on the season here against the Vikings, the Titans,
they just look lost.
Speaker 2 (01:24:42):
Bears retake the lead DeAndre Swift thirty nine yard touchdown run.
So the Bears are leading the Packers nineteen to fourteen.
And again we talk about this NFC North where the Lions,
by the way, they Lion.
Speaker 5 (01:24:56):
Scored again, I mean this crazy two to six, this one.
But you mentioned Zadarius Smith. I know he went down
a little bit earlier, but I think he came back
in the game. But Lions are now down at alex
Anzeloni and their linebacker and I believe people were checking
them him trying to lip read, and it sounds like
he broke his arm.
Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
Oh wow, some bodies.
Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
But I mean, offensively, this team is hitting on all
cylinders right now. But if you're the Packers right now
and the Vikings, you know, again, this is a division
that could project have two wildcard teams. Yeah, but if
the Bears beat the Packers today, all of a sudden,
the Packers are like whoa, whoa, whoa. Because when you
(01:25:41):
think about the resurgence of the Eagles, the Commanders obviously
are a team that have to be reckoned with. And
then all of a sudden, you look at that NFC
West where Arizona's on the roll, the forty nine ers
are coming back. All of a sudden, that cushion that
the NFC North seemed to have in the wildcard chase
is evaporating.
Speaker 1 (01:26:01):
Yeah, and quickly.
Speaker 4 (01:26:02):
And that's what That's what happens when when you have
great parody in the NFL, and we have great parody,
and some of that is because I think the talent
level has evened out some and I think a lot
of teams you know, because of the the player movement,
the fluidity that has now seeped into the NFL where
(01:26:24):
quarterbacks aren't shy about being traded, and some of the
things that we've seen in recent in recent memory have
aided that. I also think the additional wildcard spot, the
you know, the additional playoff spot, which creates a situation
where you have a one seed rest while the rest
of the playoff bracket plays and you have a wider
(01:26:46):
a group of haves compared to the have nots late
in the season. I think it's really stirred the pot.
I think we're we're seeing a lot of a lot
of interest in these you know five hundred or just
sub five hundred or just over five hundred football teams
down the stretch of the season. And you look at
(01:27:06):
the Packers again, they're they're kind of one of those
just over five hundred football teams with the six and
three records. The Bears at four and five, they're one
of those sub five hundred teams who are staring down
a win in division. This could be a big deal
the storyline with the Bears, though, all eyes on this
offense making the change moving on from Waldron to Thomas
(01:27:27):
Brown as offensive coordinator. Who is you know, Shane Waldron
was fired on Tuesday. So if this offense looks even
somewhat composed, that's a win for Thomas Brown today.
Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
The Falcons later on are going to be on the
road against the Denver Broncos. Falcons with a two game
lead right now in the NFC South, are they safe?
I mean when you look at Tampa, the Saints, Carolina,
are the Atlanta Falcons as long, obviously as Kirk Cousins
stays healthy, do you feel like they're safe?
Speaker 4 (01:27:59):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:28:00):
No, I don't feel like they're safe.
Speaker 4 (01:28:02):
Now, that's that's not that's not a condemnation on I'm
not condemning Kirk Cousins. I I am going to say
that Kirk Cousins not throwing a passing touchdown last last outing.
You know, he's he's gotta have he's got to light
up the scoreboard a little bit here today.
Speaker 1 (01:28:22):
I haven't looked at the box score that game's coming up.
Speaker 2 (01:28:28):
Yes that's a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:28:30):
Yeah, that's a one o'clock game.
Speaker 4 (01:28:32):
But but when we're when when they take the field,
I'm I'm going to be concerned to see how he
responds after taking an indivision loss, It'll be interesting to
see what happens.
Speaker 1 (01:28:44):
It will be.
Speaker 4 (01:28:45):
I mean, the Falcons, the arrow is either pointing up
or the arrows pointing down.
Speaker 1 (01:28:51):
It's it's you.
Speaker 4 (01:28:52):
There's no living in between when you're a middle of
the road team and right now the Falcons are six
and four and.
Speaker 2 (01:28:58):
The Broncos are also middle team coming out that devastating
loss to the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (01:29:03):
Last second field goal block blocked.
Speaker 2 (01:29:05):
I mean, you know, again, does the guy that missed
that block, Will Lutts, the guy that completely whiffed on
the block, and.
Speaker 1 (01:29:14):
You're talking about the offensive liness.
Speaker 3 (01:29:15):
Offensive lineman, does he sell the job? How does that
play out?
Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
You know, when you you have a chance to knock
the Chiefs out of the undefeated ranks and you just
whiff on a.
Speaker 1 (01:29:26):
Block, you can't do it.
Speaker 4 (01:29:27):
Look, you know, most of the time those positions are
either manned by your starting offensive linemen who are shifted
over into different positions. You know, whether they're used to
playing on the left side, they play on the right
because you know, that's the side that you put your
hand in the dirt, or or or it's a reserve
offensive lineman or tight end coming into the game, and
(01:29:49):
that is their sole responsibility. It doesn't matter who you are,
it doesn't matter how long you've been doing it for.
It can't happen when a singular play. Now again, this
is supposing Will Watts hits that field goal, but not
even having a chance to see if it'll go through.
You can't have it happen. So I'd imagine there would
(01:30:09):
be a change made on special teams.
Speaker 2 (01:30:12):
You're not gonna believe this, Yeah, which is all right?
Who was I trying to lay out Will Levis?
Speaker 1 (01:30:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:30:17):
Yeah, he just threw a ninety eight yard touchdown pass.
Speaker 1 (01:30:19):
Well, this is the boomer bust potential I was talking.
I did it again. You did it again.
Speaker 2 (01:30:24):
Will Levis just threw a ninety eight yard touchdown pass
to Westbrook a heeny?
Speaker 8 (01:30:31):
What is that?
Speaker 2 (01:30:34):
Nick?
Speaker 3 (01:30:34):
What's his last name?
Speaker 1 (01:30:35):
Please please pronounce it. It's my favorite thing.
Speaker 3 (01:30:39):
Westbrook aikini?
Speaker 1 (01:30:41):
That's perfect, That's yeah, you got it.
Speaker 3 (01:30:43):
Believe it's a key, it's a kee.
Speaker 2 (01:30:45):
Yeah, I believe bikini.
Speaker 1 (01:30:47):
I believe Tahini is a delicious uh Middle Eastern.
Speaker 2 (01:30:52):
I could have said I could have said Westbrook a kine,
but I'm pretty sure he's a running back. For the
dol it's a k.
Speaker 1 (01:31:02):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (01:31:03):
It's it's it's so funny because you know it with
with eight chan. Remember it was eight chane. We all thought, well,
that looks like a chane.
Speaker 3 (01:31:09):
Is like no, no, no, it's eight chan.
Speaker 1 (01:31:11):
Yeah, that's right, it's like what eight chan? Oh? I
love you.
Speaker 3 (01:31:16):
When I was a kid man, I couldn't pronounce everybody's
name back in the day.
Speaker 2 (01:31:19):
All right, we continue on here. I get a sense
we're gonna get some crazy finishes today. Just a guess
because it usually happens coming up. More red zone radio.
Speaker 4 (01:31:29):
Firing deep down field for wester rook Atene got it
forty fifty forty thirty twenty ten five zone.
Speaker 13 (01:31:39):
Touchdown tight the longest touchdown past of the year in
the National Football League.
Speaker 3 (01:31:48):
Jeff Witch tighty eight years.
Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
That's WGFX one oh four point five Titans Radio Network.
Titans are back in it. Oh wait a second touchdown
pass Sam Darnold to Akers. Yeah, three yard touchdowns. So
the Vikings answer back with a score of their own.
Vikings penning the extra point, now lead the Titans by
a score of twenty three to ten. Three minutes to
(01:32:12):
go in the third quarter. There once again, this is
Red Zone Radio. Steve Hartman and Rich Ornberger with you.
We are live from the tiraq dot Com studios. Quick
rundown of the score. Bird Bears lead the Packers nineteen fourteen,
eleven minutes to go on the fourth quarter. There, Lions
forty two to six over the Jaguars. Apparently they will
play the fourth quarter, which is starting right now. We
(01:32:34):
mentioned the Vikings with the twenty three to ten lead
over the Titans. That game ten and a half minutes
to go right now, excuse me, three minutes to go
in the third quarter, ten and a half minutes to
go on the fourth quarter. Dolphins lead the Raiders twenty
four to ten, rams over the Patriots twenty eight to thirteen,
two minutes to go on the third There we're all
tied up, Browns and Saints fourteen each. By the way,
(01:32:56):
Jamis Winston has three hundred and twelve yards passing in
that game, fourteen alls started the fourth quarter. Into the
fourth quarter. Now Jet's trying to figure out a way
of winning a game, and Aaron Rodgers has just thrown
a touchdown pass, so they have up their leading out
to twenty three to sixteen over the Colts and the
Steelers and the Ravens. I mean, this is a classic
(01:33:18):
AFC grinded out North game. Steelers lead the Ravens by
a score of twelve ten. Good news for Ravens fans.
After missing two field goals early in the game, Justin
Tucker kicked a fifty four yard field goal.
Speaker 4 (01:33:32):
Yeah yeah, I mean, here's the crazy thing about the Ravens.
If they fix the Justin Tucker problem, they fix a
lot of problems. Yeah, because if they get some of
the points back that he has cost them in some
of these games.
Speaker 1 (01:33:48):
I mean, you could make an argument the record looks different.
Speaker 4 (01:33:51):
So hopefully he can get things fixed before their playoff run,
which we assume, unless something goes horribly wrong, they're going
to be on later this season, because we know as
we get into Thanksgiving time, the Christmas Holidays, playoff time,
field goals, extra points, you can't miss them.
Speaker 1 (01:34:08):
No margins are too slim.
Speaker 2 (01:34:10):
So you look at this game again, the Steelers have
had the Ravens number, and you just look at these
two teams and you're saying the Ravens are a better team. Yep,
which is why the Ravens are favored to win this game,
and yet here are the Steelers leading twelve to ten.
They're actually moving right now. They are in Ravens territory
inside the forty yard line and they're just grinding it out.
Speaker 1 (01:34:32):
This is what this you know.
Speaker 2 (01:34:33):
Steeler team always does. Lamar Jackson just ten of twenty
four passing, no touchdown passes in this game, no rushing touchdowns.
He hasn't been sacked, Rich, but I've been watching this game.
He has been under siege. He's been, you know, figuring
out way to get rid of the ball and not
taking a sack. But you know, ten to twenty four passing.
(01:34:57):
The Steelers win this game, Rich, all of a sudden,
have a game and a half lead in that division.
Speaker 1 (01:35:02):
Yeah, they do.
Speaker 4 (01:35:03):
And that is Mike Tomlin to a t have a
I mean over the past half decade. Now, it's just
have a quarterback who's competent enough not to screw it
up for you. And that's exactly what Russell Wilson's doing.
And he's riding off of the efforts of this defense.
Seventeen of twenty five twenty one.
Speaker 1 (01:35:21):
Oh what do he got?
Speaker 2 (01:35:22):
Big pass from Russell Wilson. He just dropped a dime
right now. I didn't see the receiver on that one, guys,
but Russell Wilson just dropped a dime. It was George Pickens.
So George Pickens, uh, just an absolutely perfect pass.
Speaker 4 (01:35:40):
Was that about a thirty eight yard connection there? Thirty seven?
Thirty seven yard connection?
Speaker 1 (01:35:47):
Yeah? Look, George Pickens, I said it to start the game.
Speaker 4 (01:35:49):
He would be the X factor in this matchup because
Russell Wilson needs to get the ball out of his
hands quickly. George Pickens a sharp route runner. If they
need to score, you go to number fourteen, George Pickens.
Speaker 2 (01:36:01):
And you mentioned earlier, Rich, excuse me that the Ravens
defense has been susceptible to these deep passes.
Speaker 1 (01:36:08):
Yep, yep.
Speaker 4 (01:36:09):
And that, by the way, it's the second time now
that they've given up, or really, I guess you would
say the second time. They got a twenty yard connection
to Najie Harris earlier in the game. He's only caught
three passes, but he's been good out of the backfield
for the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (01:36:24):
Today.
Speaker 4 (01:36:25):
You got a thirty seven you're almost a forty yard
bomb to Pickens there.
Speaker 1 (01:36:29):
He's been targeted ten times in this game.
Speaker 4 (01:36:32):
He's now responsible for half the yardage that Russell Wilson
has thrown for in this game. So no question he
is he I mean, he's the most targeted player on
the field. Even the Ravens don't have anybody near that
amount of volume.
Speaker 2 (01:36:47):
Well, at what point are we taking the Steelers Steelers seriously?
I mean, with Russell Wilson in a quarterback and obviously
he's not putting up you know, huge numbers by any
stretch of the imagine, but he's certainly playing well enough
for them to continue to win. They haven't won a
playoff game in a long time. That's been the knock
(01:37:07):
on Tomlin. Is that, Yeah, you continue to have winning seasons. Yeah,
you get teams in the playoffs. We haven't won a
playoff game in a long time. Could the Steelers change.
Speaker 1 (01:37:17):
That this year? Well, all they do is beat playoff teams.
Speaker 4 (01:37:21):
I mean, if you look at going back to the
early season, they beat the Falcons on the road in Atlanta.
They made the Falcons look foolish in that game. Right,
We're so excited to see Kirk Cousins. He was under
siege the entire game. They go to Denver the very
next game, they beat the Broncos. The Broncos are trending
in the direction of being a playoff game. They face
the Chargers, they beat them. Chargers are presumptive playoff team.
(01:37:44):
Now the Cowboys loss hurts, the Colts loss hurts. But
you go to the raven or excuse me not the Ravens.
The Raiders, the Jets, the Giants, the Commander's game in consecutive.
Speaker 1 (01:37:58):
Fashion, racking off four in a row.
Speaker 4 (01:38:01):
I mean, just in that short spat I mentioned a
playoff game and maybe one other if the Jets can
pull it together at all, which is highway unlikely. But yeah,
and what they're doing to the Ravens, I guess to
answer your question, Steve, yeah, the Steelers should be taken
seriously because they've already beaten playoff teams this season, So
(01:38:21):
how could you not?
Speaker 2 (01:38:23):
All right, Jared Goff just threw another touchdown past Monroe
Saint Brown.
Speaker 3 (01:38:28):
Okay, it's efficient.
Speaker 2 (01:38:29):
Now, Jared Goff has a perfect passer rating today twenty
four of twenty nine, four hundred and twelve yards, four touchdowns,
no picks. That is a perfect one fifty eight point
three passer rating.
Speaker 5 (01:38:42):
One hell of a bounce back after five interceptions, on
Sunday night.
Speaker 3 (01:38:46):
Okay, why is he still in the game.
Speaker 1 (01:38:49):
It's a good question.
Speaker 5 (01:38:50):
Well, I mean, I'm just going to assume they just
wanted to let him finish out that drive. But also
the reality the NFL is there's just not enough guys
to take starters out of a game.
Speaker 2 (01:38:59):
Yeah, it's forty nine to six right now, it's thirteen
minutes to go. You don't have a backup quarterback.
Speaker 5 (01:39:05):
No, they'll put the backup quarterback in, But then there's
other guys in the field. Like, it's not like the
offensive line is going to get a lot of time
off here.
Speaker 12 (01:39:12):
What if they did it to piss off Xavier McKinney
with the Packers.
Speaker 3 (01:39:16):
Maybe this, all I know is just seems weird that.
I mean, it was great for golf.
Speaker 2 (01:39:23):
Who you know, again, last week was amazing and you
have throw five interceptions and win the game is just
beyond belief what they did last week. But you know,
he has a perfect passer rating for today. I'm sure
he threw his last pass of the day. But there's
got to be something up with this. Well, right, I mean,
you're up, You're up forty two to six at the
start of the fourth quarter and he's throwing a touchdown pass.
Speaker 12 (01:39:44):
Maybe maybe Dan Campbell saw the Ravens score on the
board and he's like, Okay, well, we can erase last
week's game from voters' minds, and now Jared Goff's the
MVP front runner.
Speaker 1 (01:39:54):
That's right. Yeah, yeah, Well listen.
Speaker 2 (01:39:56):
I okay, where are you now with Golf and the
MVP voting after another incredible day to day.
Speaker 4 (01:40:01):
I said it last week. I still have believe that
Golf is in the running for MVP. Can't judge a
guy by one game in one game alone, a game
that he won by the way, yeah, fourth quarter, But yeah,
I mean, he still found a way to get it
done in the end, and I'm not going to give
him an overwhelming amount of credit the Detroit Lions that or,
(01:40:21):
I should say, Jared Goff specifically did everything he could
to give that game away. They still, and I do mean,
they found a way to win because I was a
team effort. Jared Goff helped, but I mean he's certainly
hurt more than he did help in that game. Jared
Goff is still an MVP contender because he's playing for
the best team in the NFL and he is a
huge reason why they've had the majority of their success.
Speaker 1 (01:40:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:40:43):
I mean, look, some of that lies on the talent
he has around him, Like always, how many talented teams
did Tom Brady play on? Yeah, I mean how many
talented teams did Aaron Rodgers play on?
Speaker 1 (01:40:55):
Plenty? Yeah, you have to have talent around you in
order to have success in this lead, and there's no
question he does.
Speaker 4 (01:41:02):
But he's also playing at this completion rate that's almost
otherworldly in the majority, if not all, outside of that
Ravens game, of the games he's played.
Speaker 1 (01:41:14):
This year's, he's on an absolute tear.
Speaker 2 (01:41:17):
By the way, do you hear about that guy that
pulled off one of the greatest spoof stat spoofs of
all time? So I remember in the first half GoF
had four interceptions, right, yeah, and this guy posted that
this is the seventh time the GoF has had four
interceptions in a game that was at halftime, and his
record in the previous six games is six and zero.
Speaker 1 (01:41:40):
And he got it to go viral.
Speaker 2 (01:41:42):
Oh he won more than Viral. McAfee interviewed Aaron Rodgers
and threw the stat out and Rogers goes, is that
a real stat? He goes Yep, it's a real stat.
This guy later admitted he was just sitting there in
his underwear at halftime watching this Lions game and he
just made up a stat and it went completely viral.
(01:42:03):
The reality is is that GOB's only had two games
ever before that game with four or more interceptions.
Speaker 1 (01:42:10):
And his record was one and one.
Speaker 2 (01:42:12):
Yeah, but it was a good looking stat, but some
some people absolutely bought it.
Speaker 1 (01:42:17):
And so let me let me run down something for
you really quick about the Lions.
Speaker 2 (01:42:22):
I feel like I want to do something like that.
I mean, like that's phenomenal.
Speaker 1 (01:42:25):
This is a real stat for you. Check this out.
Speaker 4 (01:42:28):
Possession one for the Lions, touchdown possession, two touchdown, three touchdown,
four touchdown, five touchdown, six touchdown, win.
Speaker 2 (01:42:38):
Touch They have scored on every possession, They've scored a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (01:42:43):
What every single possession they're getting to six over the
Jacksonville Jaguars.
Speaker 2 (01:42:49):
With Does anyone believe that Doug Peterson is going to
be the coach of the Jaguars next week?
Speaker 5 (01:42:55):
I think we should more be taking bets on what
day of the week he'll be fired. Well, if he's
to be fired, it's gonna be Monday.
Speaker 3 (01:43:01):
But sometimes they wait for Tuesday.
Speaker 12 (01:43:02):
Brandon over in the edit bay, he said that Doug
Peterson would not get fired today, so we can bring
him on and ask him to explain himself the one voice.
Speaker 1 (01:43:12):
Ye, yeah, alright, you see it's getting warmed, all.
Speaker 2 (01:43:14):
Right, it's it's getting really warm. Let's find out what
is trending right now. And monci I.
Speaker 8 (01:43:20):
Got excited for a second. Drake May threw another touchdown pass.
Did he really yes, yes, he really really is And
so that's what you saw my little celebration for. But
then the Rams blocked the extra point, so that happened.
Rams are still beating the Patriots twenty eight to nineteen.
Early in the fourth quarter. Taysom Hill, with another rushing touchdown,
(01:43:43):
has given the Saints the lead once again against the
Browns twenty one fourteen early in the fourth. The Colts
have just scored as well, Anthony Richardson connecting with Josh Downs,
So the Colts are now losing to the Jets bench
just too, twenty four to twenty.
Speaker 7 (01:43:57):
Two early in the fourth.
Speaker 8 (01:43:59):
Ravens have the ball, but Steelers are still on top
fifteen to ten.
Speaker 7 (01:44:03):
They're gonna start the fourth quarter soon.
Speaker 8 (01:44:05):
The Raiders are still losing to the Dolphins twenty four
to twelve with less than five minutes to go in
the game, but they are knocking on the door to score.
The Vikings slowed down a little bit, but they're still
beating the Titans twenty three to ten early in the
fourth quarter. Even though we talked about Will Levis' touchdown pass,
he was literally on one end of the end zone
and got that touchdown.
Speaker 7 (01:44:24):
So good for him.
Speaker 8 (01:44:26):
All Lions against the Jags. Also have Jared Goff on
one of my leagues. If you're wondering how many points
he's given me in my fantasy league, on the one
that I'm not playing with Drake may let's just check
because it's fun. He's given me forty two and a
half points. Not bad, Jared Goff, thank you so much.
Four hundred and twelve yards and four touchdowns. Lions just
crushing the Jags forty nine to six. Ten minutes left
(01:44:49):
still in this one. The Bears are beating the Packers.
The latest score was DeAndre Swift with a thirty nine
yard rushing touchdown. They went for a two point conversion
weren't successful, but Chicago up on Green Bay nineteen fourteen
with about five minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
The Packers also lost in the third quarter. They lost
Jyer Alexander to a knee injury. Now still to come
(01:45:10):
Seahawks forty nine ers. Offensive tackle Trent Williams and defensive
end Nick Bosa are both active for San Francisco and
no George Kittle.
Speaker 7 (01:45:17):
As expected from yesterday, it looks like.
Speaker 8 (01:45:20):
Gardner Minshew with a touchdown pass now the Raiders cutting
their deficit against the Dolphins. Dolphins still on top twenty
four eighteen, less than five minutes to go.
Speaker 2 (01:45:28):
Back to you, guys, hi mon, see I'm watching night
now this Ravens Steelers game. Steelers lead fifteen to ten.
We are now starting the fourth quarter, and it's so
many interesting to see if the Ravens can get any
kind of offense going here. Rich they are really struggling
to move the ball. You know, you're only down five,
(01:45:50):
and I'm thinking to myself, can you run the ball?
I mean, Derek Henry actually is averaging five yards of
carry in this game. Yeah, the passing game is going nowhere,
but you still have the big horse. I mean, you're
down five, you got the ball at your own thirteen
yard line to start the fourth quarter. What is your
offensive strategy to get a drive together get in the
(01:46:11):
end zone?
Speaker 4 (01:46:12):
You I mean, look, you're not You're not in a
situation where you have to abandon your original game script,
which I have to imagine involved a lot in the
running game. That's what the Ravens do, That's who they are,
that's how they're built. So you do not abandon the
running game. You have to find a way to get
(01:46:33):
it to work. Whether it means, you know, you start
using Lamar Jackson in planned QB runs more often. You know,
it may be a situation where you know, you're you're
you're trying to loosen the defense from the line of
scrimmage with an early downs play action pass just so
you could get maybe sneaking a second and medium run
(01:46:54):
that can go off, you know, get Derrick Henry loose
on an explosive play, or or you know, you start
you start firing up the exotics, you start putting a
couple of things to keep the Steelers guessing.
Speaker 3 (01:47:07):
Well, let me update you.
Speaker 2 (01:47:08):
That drive netted negative three yards on three plays. Goodness,
and they just punted out of their end zones. So
the Steelers are going to get the ball back with
the lead fifteen to ten, and just some teams have
the other team's number.
Speaker 3 (01:47:24):
We mentioned the Steelers had beating the Ravens seven to.
Speaker 2 (01:47:26):
The last eight meetings, and they have the ball and
the lead with this one fourteen minutes to go in
the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:47:32):
In that game, Jets and the Colts twenty four to
twenty two.
Speaker 2 (01:47:35):
One of the interesting notes here is Anthony Richardson, who
I believe was completing forty four percent of his passes
rich which seems incredible that a quarterback in the NFL
could do that in twenty twenty four. But he's played
well today much well, let's put this way, by his standards,
he's played well. Seventeen to twenty seven, two hundred and
(01:47:56):
twelve yards, one touchdown, no picks. In this game, the
Jets run defense has been very effective. Jonathan Taylor only
has fifty five yards and twenty three carries. But you know, again,
this is a young quarterback you invested in. You can't
give up on him, and you just got to figure
(01:48:17):
out a way to get this kid right. And maybe
today is that first step. You know, win or lose
this game at least is playing pretty well.
Speaker 4 (01:48:26):
Yeah, look, it's obviously the storyline of the game having
Richardson returning to the lineup for the Colts. The five
full games Richardson's played in this season, the Colts have
only averaged five or should say, they have averaged five
point two yards per game and rushed for over one
(01:48:46):
hundred and.
Speaker 1 (01:48:47):
Forty two yards.
Speaker 4 (01:48:48):
So that is an aspect of the Colts offense that
they want to get back to in a big way
with Anthony Richardson, because, let's face it, I mean, when
you're able we're just talking about the Ravens doing this,
and you're able to establish the line of scrimmage and
run the football, you're gonna have more success. And they've
attempted thirty two carries on the game. Now, not to
(01:49:09):
those type of yardage you know age both averages or
total yardages that we were discussing. You know, there's certainly
nowhere near one hundred and forty two yards. They're total
rushing right now is at eighty one and Jonathan Taylor
has been hemmed in to a paltry fifty five yards
on twenty two carries. But you can tell what the
(01:49:30):
goal is with Richardson in the football game. We're going
to attack you with the run game. We're gonna throw
it when we need to, and that's how they've had success.
And he's been able to air it out for a touchdown,
he's been able to run it in for one. We
saw in the scramble Anthony Richardson for what he isn't,
and there are plenty of things he's not at this
(01:49:51):
point his second year in the NFL. What he is
is a dynamic, mobile, dual threat quarterback and it gives
a lot for a defense to worry about. And even
though they're trailing in this game, it's by a slim margin.
They're only trailing the Jets by two in New York.
This is anybody's football game.
Speaker 3 (01:50:09):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:50:09):
The game that is furthest along right now is this
Green Bay Bears game. We got four minutes to go
in the fourth quarter. Bears Packers just took over trailing
nineteen to fourteen at their own twenty two yard line.
Really the story of this game because you look at
Jordan Love twelve of sixteen for two hundred and one yards.
Speaker 3 (01:50:28):
That's impressive.
Speaker 2 (01:50:29):
Josh Jacobs solid seventy six yards on the ground in
a score the numbers are pretty even except for one
stat time of possession Bears thirty three minutes the Packers
just twenty two minutes. And that's why the Packers have
been hindered in getting their offense going in this game.
Caleb Williams pretty good game today, twenty at twenty eight
(01:50:50):
and eighty two yards, no touchdowns, no picks in this one.
But he also has seventy yards rushing in this game,
which is part of the story. But this is this
is a huge for the Packers. As I mentioned, and
we were talking about this wild card chase in the
NFC earlier, Packers seemed pretty safe. But you know, with
the Vikings probably winning today against the Titans, all of
(01:51:13):
a sudden, you got the forty nine ers back in
the mix. Packers really can't afford to lose this game.
Speaker 4 (01:51:18):
Packers, they've turned the football over love through the interception.
Speaker 1 (01:51:23):
Packers.
Speaker 4 (01:51:24):
They've been terrible on third down, one of five, zero
for one on fourth down. I mean, you look at
the other side. Bears have been clean in the turnovers
and they are wildly efficient in the third down and
fourth down efficiency nine to fifteen third down, two of
two for their fourth down tries the run games on fire.
They've got ten more rushing attempts than the Green Bay Packers.
(01:51:46):
So they're getting Caleb Williams into third and manageable situations
and they're having success on those downs. Well, of course
they are, because when you're using like we're just talking
about Anthony Richardson, when you're using a dual threat quarterback
the way he's supposed to be used, you're leaning into
his capabilities as a rusher, You're gonna have more success.
(01:52:08):
So I think that is the biggest key here for
the offensive coordinator switch that they've made in Chicago. Highlight
the things he does well, hide his weaknesses, you're gonna
have more success. They're having more success today against Green Bay.
Speaker 3 (01:52:20):
Hold on turn around in Jacksonville. They just held the
Lions to.
Speaker 2 (01:52:26):
A field goal.
Speaker 1 (01:52:27):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (01:52:28):
So after's seven straight drives and in a touchdown, hen
and Hookers in they I don't care who's in playing
the jackson What is the hen and Hooker's one?
Speaker 12 (01:52:41):
Yeah, the Lions with the MVP on the bench, How
are they are.
Speaker 2 (01:52:44):
You getting defensive? As a Lions guy.
Speaker 8 (01:52:47):
I just saying it seemed like you wanted to talk
smack and I was just saying, well the Sat Jared.
Speaker 3 (01:52:51):
Golf, they pulled the starters. Well, I'm just saying I
was trying to give Rendell Bill run the ball here.
Speaker 1 (01:52:57):
You know, you know what they.
Speaker 2 (01:53:00):
Field goal.
Speaker 4 (01:53:01):
What's embarrassing is Detroit's only scored fifty two against this Yeah,
that is embarrassing.
Speaker 1 (01:53:06):
I mean, this should be this score should be.
Speaker 3 (01:53:07):
A way, Tom Brady Lazer Eyes were only up by forty.
Speaker 1 (01:53:11):
They should have gone for only two point converts.
Speaker 2 (01:53:13):
Meanwhile, the Steelers guys are driving there down the five
yard line first and goal, trying to I don't know,
put the Ravens away if you want.
Speaker 12 (01:53:24):
To talk embarrassing. I don't know if you guys saw
the sequence that just happened in Chicago. But Bears had
fourth and three elected to punt, and then on one
play Christian Watson take it down to the twenty yard
line of the Bears, and then Matti Refluse decided to
challenge the catch for no real reason. It was very
clearly a catch. So two bad decisions in the span
(01:53:44):
of two minutes by Matti Refluse there.
Speaker 2 (01:53:46):
So you're not giving up on the idea Iberflus being
the next coach to be fired. Well, well they just
fired their offense.
Speaker 1 (01:53:52):
Yeah, I think.
Speaker 12 (01:53:53):
Everybody knows the Bears don't do that midseason, but they
have every reason to.
Speaker 2 (01:53:56):
All right, three minutes to go. Right now, Jordan Love
is scrambling. He's gonna take off and run and he
is all the way down to the one yard line.
So the Packers are now in a position to get
back into the lead in this game on the road
against the Bears. Some exciting finishes are coming up. We'll
have it all covered. This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 10 (01:54:18):
Off up under center turn takes to give to Jami
or throws end zone.
Speaker 2 (01:54:22):
Con n a Ross Saint Brown touchdown. Detroit Lions go
off with the chart.
Speaker 1 (01:54:27):
Fourteen is having a day, sixteen is having a day.
This whole team is having a day. Ninety seven to one.
That take it.
Speaker 2 (01:54:35):
Lions Radio Network games still going on. Lions lead the
Jaguars fifty two to.
Speaker 1 (01:54:45):
Six.
Speaker 2 (01:54:47):
Red Zone Radio Steve Hartman and Rich Ormberger with you.
We are live from the tai Iraq dot com studios.
All right, here's where we are with a couple of
games that are a little bit closer than that. Lion's
Jags game Packers lead the now twenty to nineteen.
Speaker 3 (01:55:02):
They went for a two point conversion, did not get it.
Speaker 2 (01:55:05):
So the Bears have the ball right now at their
own twenty yard line with a third and twenty and
we've hit the two minute warning.
Speaker 3 (01:55:12):
So the Bears need to come up with a big
play real quick or they're not going to.
Speaker 1 (01:55:17):
Win this game.
Speaker 2 (01:55:19):
Rams and the Patriots Rich. Rams are leading twenty eight
to twenty two, three and a half minutes to go.
Matthew Staffords had a huge day sixteen of twenty three,
eighty five yards and four touchdown passes in this game.
But the Rams trying to put the Patriots away. They
have a third and three at the New England forty
five yard line. And then you got this Ravens Steelers
(01:55:43):
game that the Ravens are still trying to figure this out.
They had a big play that was called back because
of a penalty. But the big story in this game
was Russell Wilson.
Speaker 1 (01:55:54):
YEP.
Speaker 2 (01:55:56):
So the we're mentioning right before the break that the
Steelers were fifteen to ten, they had a first and
goal of the five yard line, and you know, everything's
going great for Russell Wilson and he just threw one
of the ugliest interceptions in the end zone that you
will ever see.
Speaker 4 (01:56:13):
Turnovers have been a killer for the Ravens in this game.
They fumbled twice and now all of a sudden, the
Steelers are helping him out here. The Ravens have also
been really undisciplined. Ten penalties today for seventy yards. Look,
the Steelers haven't played good football.
Speaker 1 (01:56:30):
Make no mistake.
Speaker 4 (01:56:31):
When we're talking about the Steelers winning this football game,
it has nothing to do with Russell Wilson. He's been bad.
This has not been a good game for Russell Wilson.
He's been That interception was uh. He's been serviceable at best.
But when you when you start looking down the team
stats in this one, I mean the Steelers are two
(01:56:52):
of thirteen on third down. Yeah, they're over on fourth down.
But the one thing they've done a nice job of
is rushing the football.
Speaker 2 (01:57:01):
Rich let me jump in right now. So the Jets
lead the Colts twenty seven to twenty two. But the
Colts now have the ball at the Jets ten yard line.
Anthony Richardson throws a little pass down to the six.
So the Colts have put themselves in a position to
win this game on the road against the Jets.
Speaker 4 (01:57:23):
Yeah, so the Jets settle for a field goal on
that last drive, answering the Colts touchdown, and so back
and forth this game has went as the Colts have
tried to lurch back into it, and they have a
second or excuse me, yeah, second and goal opportunity, opportunity
at the Jets six yard line.
Speaker 1 (01:57:43):
Look, here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (01:57:45):
Anthony Richardson is a really difficult red zone threat to
deal with. If you look at Richardson, I mean, you
have so many options. I mean, is he the best
thrower of the football. No, But you have to defend
all eleven players, or i should all the skilled position
players on the field, including Richardson, because he'll dial up
his own number even if it's a passing play.
Speaker 2 (01:58:06):
All right, So here's where the Jets are. They have
no timeouts left. So now you're the Colts. You have
a second and goal at the six. Obviously you need
a touchdown here, yep, But you also want to run
clock a little bit here. So the Jets has used
their last time out. But you can't play around too
much because it's second and goal. Richardson is going to
(01:58:27):
do a straight handoff. Think the Taylor that's going to
get down to the four yard line. The clock is
now going to run.
Speaker 4 (01:58:34):
Let me ask you a question here, let's get crazy.
So Indianapolis Colts score a touchdown, say yes, do you
go for two and you make it a field goal
ties it game for the Jets with a minute and
change left? Or do you kick the field goal and
make it so you give the Aaron Rodgers the ball
back with an opportunity to kick a field goal and
(01:58:56):
win the football game?
Speaker 2 (01:58:58):
If the Colts score a touchdown, yeah, one hundred percent,
you're going for a two point conversion. Yeah, I'm with you,
one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (01:59:03):
You got yeah to put this game out of reach
for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.
Speaker 2 (01:59:07):
Right, Okay, Now Richardson is going to keep the ball
and go into the end zone for a touchdown. So
the Colts have now taken the lead forty six seconds left,
and that's where a guy like Anthony Richardson is simply unstoppable.
That was just a pure quarterback. Keep go around the
left end and he just ran over a couple of people.
(01:59:27):
So touchdown Colts. So most likely they will go for
a two point conversion and put Aaron Rodgers in a
desperate situation to figure out a late game miracle. Too well,
it depends on if the two point conversion is good
or not. If it's not good, it could be a
game winning field goal or a game time field goal.
Speaker 4 (01:59:47):
Unbelievable day for Anthony Richardson in his return twenty thirty
two to seventy two, a touchdown, throwing a two touchdown
rushed in.
Speaker 2 (01:59:55):
Now all right, more exciting finishes coming up.
Speaker 1 (01:59:58):
Keep it here.
Speaker 3 (01:59:58):
This is Red Zone Radio. Oh Richardson out of the cup.
Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
Left, Dave in.
Speaker 11 (02:00:04):
The touch into the zone touchdown, Anthony Richardson his second
rushing touchdown today and the Colts with the score right there,
lead eight to twenty seven with forty six seconds to.
Speaker 2 (02:00:19):
Go, Colts Radio Network, and that was that, as the
Jets go down to defeat again, Colts winning that game
twenty eight to twenty seven. This is Red Zone Radio.
We are broadcasting live from the ti rack dot Com studios.
Tierrack dot Com. We're gonna get you there on a
matt selection fast read shipping free road as a protection
(02:00:39):
over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot Com The
Way Tire buying should be the end of that game. Wow,
forty six seconds left, no timeouts for Aaron Rodgers. First play,
he's scrambling, he fumbles, the ball goes backwards about ten yards.
Then he completed to pass over the middle, which is
not good because they had no timeouts, and the game
(02:01:00):
ends with a sack. Three an eight, Rich is where
the Jets are after losing at home to the Colts.
Speaker 4 (02:01:09):
So three and eight, I mean, it's getting to the
point where you start thinking to yourself, like if the
Jets had Sam Darnold again, if the Jets had Joe
Flacco again, or not again, but if they had Joe
Flacco instead of Aaron Rodgers, if they had you know,
(02:01:31):
I mean, there's a top tier of quarterback, but then
you get into the second tier like Kirk Cousins or
Brock Purdy or Dak Prescott, you know, I mean the Jets.
It feels like with any of those names, or certainly
any of the top quarterbacks of this league would have
a much.
Speaker 2 (02:01:49):
Better team than Rich. Let me back up a little
bit here, So they were two and three when they
fired Salah and demoted Hackett, and since then they're one
in five. So I mean, look, it comes down again
to management Woody Johnson embarrassment. I mean, the guy has
(02:02:13):
spent money. It's not like the Jets haven't spent money
over the years, but they just seem to make one
bad decision after another. This is the longest playoff draught
of any team, not just in the NFL, any team,
and any one of the four major team sports, at
least in America.
Speaker 4 (02:02:32):
But I didn't characterize this as a bad decision when
he was signed. It's just gone so poorly. Like I know,
there was a camp and you were a part of
the camp. In credit to you for getting it right.
Who said Aaron Rodgers isn't what he used to be,
even last year when he signed ahead of last season
before the Achilles tear. He's not who he used to be.
(02:02:53):
He's not the leader of the Jets need right now.
This is young team, etc.
Speaker 1 (02:02:57):
Etc.
Speaker 4 (02:02:57):
But there was another camp which I belong to, and
I was ardently defending the Jets decision to sign Aaron
Rodgers all the way through the basically the midpoint of
the season, giving the Jets a chance to incubate and
get back from you know where they kind of left
off last preseason. Or I should say early last season
(02:03:19):
when he tore his achilles like. It takes a while
for guys to get used to each other in real,
live game situations. But this has gone on long enough
now to make the assertion, and I don't think it's
a bold one that this is a failed attempt, and
to your point, it's another failed attempt. I don't believe
(02:03:39):
in curses. I think that's a lot of hooey. But
I do believe in bad guidance starting from the top.
And I think the Jets have made a lot of
bad choices at head coach, and I think they've made
a lot of bad choices in their front office. The
leadership from the top down has been the biggest problem
for the Jets, and it's because they haven't put the
(02:04:00):
right people to build rosters and to coach football.
Speaker 1 (02:04:04):
Teams in the positions that they need to be.
Speaker 3 (02:04:06):
All Right, Rams have finished off the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (02:04:09):
Rams win this one twenty eight to twenty two, So
a big win for the Rams after a disappointing loss
a week ago to the Dolphins at home. All Right,
the one game that does of interest that we are
watching right now, Steelers and the Ravens and the Ravens
have the ball two and a half minutes to go
in the game, so this game was way behind time
(02:04:30):
wise with the other games around the league. I don't
know why this game lasted so long, probably because Lamar
Jackson had a lot of incomplete passes. But now they're
actually in Steeler territory. They're trailing eighteen to ten. Unreal,
so the Steelers need a touchdown and a two point
conversion just to tie this game. My play of the
Unders looking pretty solid.
Speaker 1 (02:04:51):
Rich, Yeah, I would agree, I would. You know.
Speaker 2 (02:04:54):
I saw that number as like, why is that number
so high? Yeah, it was forty eight and a half,
like forty eight and a half for Steelers Ravens.
Speaker 1 (02:05:03):
And what's crazy about this game is this score could
be so much better for the Steelers. They are zero
for four in the red zone.
Speaker 2 (02:05:09):
Well and that includes it, you know, an end zone
touched interception. I was just I don't know what Russell was.
Speaker 4 (02:05:16):
A terrible pick, but but yeah, I mean, this score
could be out of hand. The Steelers could be absolutely
mopping the floor with the Ravens. But look, credit where
credits to the Ravens had when when the field shortened
and they were in.
Speaker 1 (02:05:28):
Gotta have it situations.
Speaker 4 (02:05:30):
As a defense, they were able to slow down the
Steelers at least, But my goodness, the Steelers have been
bad in the red zone.
Speaker 5 (02:05:36):
So it is.
Speaker 4 (02:05:38):
It is just one of those games where, yeah, I mean,
I guess you should have assumed it was gonna be
a slobber knocker between two teams in the AFC North.
Speaker 2 (02:05:47):
That's what I thought, and I was like, so, by
the way, Lamar Jackson in this game, twelve of twenty
nine passing, oh one hundred and fifty five yards, no
touchdowns and a pick. That's a forty four passer race.
If they lose this game, they go to seven and four.
Speaker 1 (02:06:04):
Anytime does this.
Speaker 2 (02:06:05):
But Jared Goff is the runaway favorite now for the MVP.
A week after a five pick game, he had a
perfect passer rating today, four touchdowns over four hundred yards passing.
But Lamar Jackson's game by far as worst of the year.
Speaker 1 (02:06:19):
I don't know how you could see it any other way.
Speaker 4 (02:06:22):
Again, like the Detroit Lions are our heads and shoulders
above the rest of the NFL. Jared Goff is the
quarterback for the Detroit Lions. If he was a quarterback
by another name. If that was Joe Burrow, if that
was Patrick Mahomes, if that was Josh Allen, would there
be any debate whether or not he's the MVP this season?
Speaker 2 (02:06:42):
I agree with you. There's this thing about Jared Goff, like, uh,
is he really an MVP?
Speaker 4 (02:06:48):
If Jared Goff, if Jared Goff's name was Lamar Jackson,
he would be the MVP.
Speaker 1 (02:06:53):
But he's not. He's Jared Goff.
Speaker 4 (02:06:55):
And so they hold what happened, what transpired in LA
and Saint Louis before that against Jared Goff.
Speaker 2 (02:07:02):
Yeah, but what did he do in LA? Led a
team to the Super Bowl. He had some big years
in LA. It was just at the end where he
became the scapegoat and they made a trade. They brought
in Stafford, won a Super Bowl, and you know, GoF
was just going to be a placeholder. I'm with it
with a Lions, but you know what Buddy Dan Campbell said, otherwise.
Speaker 4 (02:07:21):
You're you're preaching to the choir because I look at
the time when they traded for Stafford, I was like,
that is the right choice. They weren't going to be
able to win with Jared Goff. And you know what
I was right, because they won with Matthew Stafford and
they did a nice job. But with Detroit, I was
like very intrigued with what they were going to be
able to ring out of Jared Goff as they were
(02:07:43):
going to make a transition to what I assumed would
be a first round drafted quarterback at some point because
they were in the midst of a complete rebuild.
Speaker 1 (02:07:53):
You know, they weren't very good.
Speaker 4 (02:07:54):
Dan Campbell's first season and his commitment to his quarterback
and building around Jared Goff has been the reason, maybe
the sole reason why the Detroit Lions are so dangerous
because they they worked with him, they taught him, He
learned the system under Ben Johnson and they developed him
(02:08:15):
by the way Ben Johnson wasn't there at first before that.
Speaker 1 (02:08:18):
I believable. Whoa okay, gong on.
Speaker 2 (02:08:20):
We got a big gass play in this Ravens Steelers
game all the way down to the sixth yard line.
There's a penalty flag though Nelson Aguilar was able to
catch a pass and was just basically thrown it for
grabs down to the six yard line for the Ravens,
but there is a penalty.
Speaker 3 (02:08:38):
Is illegal man down field?
Speaker 2 (02:08:41):
Oh my gosh, is that what they called?
Speaker 1 (02:08:43):
Now?
Speaker 2 (02:08:43):
Lamar Jackson was scrambling on that play, and apparently aligneman
got down the field and shouldn't have been there, so
that play got called back.
Speaker 1 (02:08:55):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (02:08:57):
So I'm watching a replay of this right now. But
somebody got loose down field.
Speaker 4 (02:09:05):
That's brutal. Well, listen on these scramble plays. I mean,
that can happen, especially if there's a run option. If
it's an RPO, you can have a situation.
Speaker 2 (02:09:17):
Good lord, all right, So we have a third and
nine now, minute twenty six to go. Both teams still
have all their timeouts. But again, the Ravens need a
touchdown and a two point conversion just to tie this game.
Lamar Jackson throwing cross his body that looked like a
block in the back that they didn't call, and they
(02:09:39):
didn't call it. So that's a first down for the Ravens.
Did you see this replay here? Once there's a block
it actually, yeah, because the receiver opened to me, it
looked like a block in the back.
Speaker 4 (02:09:53):
I don't know if I'm calling it, though, Steve, to
be perfectly honest with you, because I mean, are you gonna.
Speaker 2 (02:10:00):
Well, they didn't call it. So we got the ball
down the twenty four yard line right now, and then
at fifteen to go still all six timeouts are on
the board. Lamar Jackson trying to engineer a game tying
score needing a two point conversion as well, lit'll flipout
pass there, so all right, we'll just keep it right here.
Speaker 1 (02:10:20):
Right. Yeah, Well, I'll tell you what. You can't call
that on Andrews the block in the back?
Speaker 3 (02:10:24):
Are you saying because it was behind him?
Speaker 4 (02:10:27):
Well, no, it's just because it was such a close
call and it's such an important drive in the game.
I mean, you flip a coin, you say, maybe he
got a little bit of the back of the defender there,
but maybe nah. And I don't think he peeled back
on him the way. It's not a defenseless defender kind
of peel back crackback block.
Speaker 1 (02:10:46):
All right.
Speaker 2 (02:10:46):
By the way, finals score, the Vikings have defeated the
Titans twenty three to thirteen. All right, here's Lamar Jackson.
Touchdown Ravens. Unreal, Wow, touch down Ravens.
Speaker 1 (02:11:02):
Look a look at that?
Speaker 2 (02:11:04):
Is that likely against say Flowers? Hey Flowers, Zay Flowers
on the receiving end. All right, there's a minute six
to go. Obviously they're gonna go for a two point
conversion here to try to tie the game. But Zay
Flowers gets it in.
Speaker 3 (02:11:17):
This a heck of a play.
Speaker 1 (02:11:18):
I'll tell you right now, it's a heck of a route.
Jay Flowers.
Speaker 4 (02:11:22):
I'm pretty sure his defender thought he was gonna run
to the corner and instead he gives them a little
shove in the chest and the Steelers defender was like.
Speaker 1 (02:11:30):
Where's the flag. Where's the flag? Well, no flag at
the top of the route.
Speaker 4 (02:11:34):
He comes back and Lamar Jackson knew exactly where he
was going with the football.
Speaker 1 (02:11:38):
Here we got there for him.
Speaker 2 (02:11:39):
Two point version and there is a whistle time out
by the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (02:11:46):
Smart choice, get yourself organized.
Speaker 2 (02:11:48):
Well they It was interesting because I thought they snapped
the ball before the time out. Apparently they got the
time out just in time to take a look at
what they're gonna do. It looked like what they were
gonna do is have h Lamar Jackson trying to run
it in.
Speaker 1 (02:12:01):
Yeah, that's what it looked like.
Speaker 4 (02:12:02):
It looked like a little bit of a QB follow
on the inside run there, hey, you know, And here's
the thing, also, Mike Tomlin, smart coach, Right, you have
a player in your defensive backfield campaigning for a flag.
All of a sudden, the Ravens rush the line of
scrimmage to get their two point offense going. Everything's happening
pretty quick. That's a good time to slow the game
(02:12:24):
down and give give you your defense, your defensive coordinator,
yourself an opportunity to really evaluate what personnel information you're facing.
Speaker 2 (02:12:33):
All right, here we go right now again, two point conversion,
this would tie the game. And Lamar Jackson does keep
the ball and he is going nowhere. He throws it
up and it is wow, that one absolutely nowhere. They
lost yards on it, and that means that the Steelers
now now again, there's a minute six to go here,
(02:12:54):
and the Ravens have all three of their timeouts, that's right,
so they can stop the clock. So if you're the Steelers,
obviously you're not going to do anything crazy. Well, but
if you can't, like even if you took a knee,
you're only gonna knock off what about ten seconds, twenty
seconds at the most, You're gonna give the Ravens some time.
Speaker 1 (02:13:16):
Well, all right, so first.
Speaker 4 (02:13:18):
Play ten seconds, second play ten seconds. Third play ten seconds,
You're down to thirty seconds.
Speaker 1 (02:13:24):
Fourth down. Snap the ball.
Speaker 2 (02:13:28):
You can't run out thirty seconds, no way, I mean.
Speaker 1 (02:13:32):
Yeah, So look, I mean the Steelers are looking for
a first down.
Speaker 2 (02:13:35):
All right, we will update you on that situation, but
right now it is eighteen sixteen. The Steelers the lead
the Ravens. All right, we continue on more coming up
right here on Red Zone Radio. It is over in
Pittsburgh as the Steelers have defeated the Ravens eighteen to sixteen.
(02:13:57):
Read it and weep.
Speaker 3 (02:13:59):
Steelers are eight and two.
Speaker 1 (02:14:04):
Incredible, eight.
Speaker 2 (02:14:06):
And two, and now the game had the lead in
that AFC North. Once again, Red Zone Radio here Steve
Harbin Rich Arnberger relive from the tai Iraq dot com studios.
What a win for the Steelers. And again, we've been
sitting here all season long. You know, we've been talking
about obviously the Lions in the NFC, and they have
(02:14:29):
yet to disappoint. But there's been this argument all season
long that the Ravens have the best team in the AFC.
But if you really look back, I mean, yeah, Lamar
Jackson's having an unbelievable year. Derek Henry's had an unbelievable year.
There's a lot of positives with the Ravens. Yeah, but
you mentioned something at the very beginning of the show.
(02:14:52):
Their pass defense is not good.
Speaker 1 (02:14:53):
No, it's not.
Speaker 2 (02:14:54):
And so we always talk about, you know, most complete team.
You know, teams that have the fewest weaknesses. There are
a lot of weaknesses showing up in the Ravens right now,
and all of a sudden they find themselves battling for
a wildcard spot instead of actually battling for the division lead.
Speaker 1 (02:15:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:15:14):
Look, I think that the Ravens do need to be
taken very seriously. I think they're a very dangerous team.
I think they have a lot of talent on their team.
Speaker 1 (02:15:23):
I think the Buffalo Bills, in a similar ilk on
the AFC side, needed to be taken very seriously because
they have a very talented roster. They're a very good team. However,
when you look at the.
Speaker 4 (02:15:34):
Standings based on win loss record in the conference, there's
a clear winner in that conversation, it's the Kansas City Chiefs,
and oh right behind them now in conference is the
Pittsburgh Steelers at eight and two. Now, the Buffalo Bills
are an eight and two football team, as well, but
if you look at the Steelers, they're beating solid playoff
(02:15:58):
caliber teams and they are doing it in a fashion
that very two teams, very few.
Speaker 1 (02:16:04):
Teams can do at this point in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (02:16:08):
They're beating them with just competent, good old fashion, hard
nosed defense and just enough offensively, like this game was survival.
Speaker 1 (02:16:19):
The Steelers were awful in the red zone.
Speaker 4 (02:16:21):
The Steelers could have boat race the Baltimore Ravens if
they had any sort of red zone offense whatsoever. They didn't,
so they had to settle for a bunch of field
goals and it was a nail bier down the stretch.
But goodness, gracious, I mean, Pittsburgh, they've if you look
at the wins that they have this season, it is
a who's who of playoff caliber teams. Whereas you look
(02:16:44):
at the Buffalo Bills and it's like, Okay, they beat
the Dolphins, the Seahawks, the Titans, and the Jets most
recently lost to the Houston Texans in The Ravens beat
the Jacksonville Jaguars the Dolphins earlier in the seasons, and
the Cardinals out the Gates, who gave them all sorts
of trouble. The Bills have beaten nobody. The Steelers have
(02:17:05):
beaten playoff caliber team after playoff caliber team.
Speaker 2 (02:17:09):
Well, and that's I agree with you. I mean, right now,
if you're just saying, based on their resume, who's the
better team, I'm gonna take the Steelers over the Bills.
Speaker 1 (02:17:18):
I'll tell you right now.
Speaker 2 (02:17:19):
I mean the Bills. You know they's We're gonna get
into that game. And at just a moment, by the way,
I do want to update you. The Broncos took an
early seven to nothing lead against the Falcons, but the
Falcons right now have a second and fifteen at the
Denver twenty yard line, so seven nothing Broncos four minutes
to go in the first quarter there and the forty
nine Ers trail the Seahawks three to nothing, but they
(02:17:40):
have a second and five at the Seattle ten yard
line with less than three minutes to go in the
first But yeah, I mean, let's not downplay the Steeler team.
It just so easy and they just again they know
how to win games. It's just amazing to me how
Mike Tomlin it never seems to get the respect that
he has earned in a career that will end up
(02:18:01):
in Canton, Ohio. He's still a young coach, isn't like
still his early fifties.
Speaker 1 (02:18:07):
Crazy.
Speaker 3 (02:18:07):
I mean he could be there for I don't know,
as long as I guess, as long as he wants.
Speaker 1 (02:18:11):
Yeah, I mean, I mean, don't get me wrong.
Speaker 4 (02:18:14):
The Baltimore Ravens have beat some solid teams this season,
There's no doubt. I mean, they lost to the Chiefs
in the opening game by literally isaiah likely toenail. Yes,
but they lost to the Raiders. That was an ugly loss.
To follow that up, they beat Bills, they beat the Bengals,
they beat the Commanders, they beat the Buccaneers. I think
(02:18:35):
all four of those teams are quality victories. They beat
the Denver Broncos. They actually they beat the Bengals twice
so on their way to a seven win season. I mean,
the Bengals have gone toe to toe with very, very
quality opponents. Now, this is the first matchup against the Steelers.
Three games from now, in late December, they'll face the
(02:18:55):
Steelers again.
Speaker 1 (02:18:57):
It could be a very different looking game at that point.
Speaker 4 (02:19:00):
He knows what the trajectory of Russell Wilson throughout the
course of this season is gonna look like, but I
can tell you this, this AFC north Man, this is
one of those divisions that delivers every year on battles
for the top seed, and we're seeing it once again
because Mike Tomlin, he never says die. Even if he
has problems at quarterback, he finds a way. And the
(02:19:22):
Steelers are the second place team in the conference for
good reason, because their strength of schedule and their record
supports that argument.
Speaker 2 (02:19:30):
This is a very interesting matchup between the Falcons and
the Broncos. We were talking a little bit about it earlier.
By the way the Falcons end up with a fourth
down place it looks like they're gonna attempt a field
goal here Broncos leading seven to three over the Falcons.
Bo Nick's another hot start to this game, four five
fifty yards and a touchdown pass. And this team, I
(02:19:51):
mean you talk about heartbreaking. I mean, you have this
game done to beat the Chiefs. Beat the Chiefs, young team,
how do you react? Well, they come back the next
week and score on their opening drives. So again I'm
a little partial by the way Falcons do get the
field goal because I did make a bold prediction about
(02:20:13):
the Broncos making the playoffs. By the way, even with
their loss last week at five and five, there's still
the last wildcard team in the AFC. But this marriage
between bow Knicks and Sean Payton is working because you
can see the confidence in this kid bo Nicks.
Speaker 3 (02:20:29):
Week after week. He's improving on his game.
Speaker 2 (02:20:31):
He's gonna make Orkie mistakes, but he understands it, and
they got an offense that works for this kid. So
I think it's if your Broncos fan has been a
dry spell since that last Super Bowl win with Peyton Manning,
very dry, But I think they might be heading in
the right direction.
Speaker 1 (02:20:49):
Yeah, I agree with you too. I like the Denver
Broncos a lot.
Speaker 4 (02:20:52):
It's going to be very interesting to see the results
of this season when this this he's income to an end, Like,
what are we gonna be saying about neck Bnicks? What
are we gonna be saying about Sean Payne? They have
the lead, like you mentioned, hosting the Falcons here in
the first quarter today seven to three ball game. I
look at bo Nicks and I see a player who
(02:21:15):
has quickly convinced Denver Broncos fans and certainly football fans
as well, that he's a franchise quarterback that he's worth
building around. And I think this this makes an argument
for players to extend their collegiate careers. So you have name,
image and likeness money around every corner. If you're talented
(02:21:37):
in college, you're gonna get licks at the NFL level,
So why rush it. I understand there's a lot of money,
and I get it. If you're a guaranteed first round
draft pick, you gotta go.
Speaker 2 (02:21:48):
You gotta go to Schadur Sanders. You're not gonna stand
out of the year at Colorado exactly right.
Speaker 4 (02:21:52):
You gotta go strike while the iron's immensely hot, even
though Shador Sanders is a millionaire many times over playing
at Colorado because name, image and likeness, money and brand
ambassador deals and all the things we know.
Speaker 1 (02:22:05):
You gotta go.
Speaker 4 (02:22:06):
But a guy like Boon Knicks playing in college as
long as he did benefit him greatly. And if you're
a player who's entering college right now, and you're one
of those guys who's gonna be hovering around the early
rounds but not a first round draft pick throughout the
majority of your career once you're eligible.
Speaker 1 (02:22:23):
Just stay in college, collect paychecks, get better.
Speaker 4 (02:22:27):
See more football, get exposed to more defenses, get exposed
to more end of game and end of half situations,
gotta have it moments.
Speaker 1 (02:22:35):
Bo Nicks has lived that life at the collegiate.
Speaker 4 (02:22:38):
Level, and now, fortunately for him, because of where he
ended up getting drafted in the first round, he got
drafted to a team with a pretty decent roster, you know,
and a really decent ball coach who moved on from
Russell Wilson, and so they got cheaper at the position.
They can build around him. Even though they're paying Russell
Wilson an astounding amount of money to start for the
Pittsburgh Steelers this year, you have an opportunity to get
(02:23:01):
really good, really fast in Denver.
Speaker 1 (02:23:03):
I like bon Nicks. I think they made the right choice.
Speaker 2 (02:23:05):
All right, let's find out what is trending right now, Manzi.
Speaker 8 (02:23:11):
I know, I'm just dying to use the rushroom. And
so that's why they were like cut to Manzie.
Speaker 7 (02:23:19):
Yeah, I'm good, I'm good. But I was like, I
can't let them talk for five minutes. I'm not going
to survive. All right, three games currently going on, Chiefs,
and Bill's a big one. Everyone's looking forward to.
Speaker 1 (02:23:28):
Well.
Speaker 8 (02:23:28):
Patrick Mahomes on his first attempt through an interception.
Speaker 7 (02:23:34):
So Bills have the ball. Yeah, yeah, So that's how
that's going. Okay, that's all. That's good.
Speaker 8 (02:23:38):
Brockberty in the end zone with the rushing touchdown, forty
nine Ers are up on the Seahawks seven to three.
Speaker 7 (02:23:43):
After the first quarter is coming to an end.
Speaker 8 (02:23:45):
Right now, the Broncos are beating the Falcons seven to three.
Bow Nicks with a touchdown pass to get things going
with Nate Atkins a twelve yard touchdown pass, so seven
to three late in the first quarter. What happened earlier
today while the Lions crushed the Jaguars fifty two to six.
Jared Goff four hundred and twelve yards and four touchdowns
in the air, a perfect passer rating of one fifty
(02:24:05):
eight point three.
Speaker 7 (02:24:06):
I'm on Ross Saint Brown eleven.
Speaker 8 (02:24:08):
Catches, one hundred and sixty one yards and two touchdowns.
The Packers survive after blocking a forty six yard field
goal as time expires. They beat the Bears twenty to nineteen.
Christian Watson one hundred and fifty yards off of four
catches for the Packers in that one. The Vikings improved
to eight and two after beating the Titans twenty three thirteen.
Sam Darnold two hundred and forty six yards and two
(02:24:29):
touchdowns in the air.
Speaker 7 (02:24:30):
The Steelers hold on to defeat the Ravens eighteen to sixteen.
They improved to eight and two.
Speaker 8 (02:24:35):
Russell Wilson threw for two hundred and five yards no touchdowns.
He had one interception. Derek Henry thirteen carries sixty five
yards and a touchdown. He has had at least one
touchdown every week this season for the Ravens. The Colts
edged the Jets twenty eight to twenty seven. Anthony Richardson
two hundred and seventy two yards, one touchdown and two
rushing touchdowns, including They'll go ahead touchdown that left forty
(02:24:55):
six seconds on the clock, but Aaron Rodgers and the
Jets can not do anything about it. The Dolphins outscored
the race thirty four to nineteen. The Rams top the
Patriots twenty eight to twenty two. Drake may in a
losing up for two hundred and eighty two yards, two touchdowns,
one interception, and the Saints with the thirty five to
fourteen win over the Browns. Taysom Hill seven carries one
hundred and thirty eight yards and a hat trick three
(02:25:16):
touchdowns in that one. And yeah, ap Top twenty five
college poll came out. No no changes in the top
five at all. Biggest thing LSU is.
Speaker 7 (02:25:25):
Unranked for the first time in two years. That's it.
Speaker 2 (02:25:29):
Back to you, guys, no reason to stick around. You
can do what you need to do, right.
Speaker 7 (02:25:33):
Yes, thank you so much, thank you, thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (02:25:36):
Min See, hey, don't forget. Right after the show, our

today's show, check out the podcast. Just search Fox Sports

Speaker 3 (02:25:47):
Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts.
You'll see the show posted right after we get off
the air.
Speaker 2 (02:25:53):
All right, So she had mentioned Mahomes th to an
interception to start this game off for the Chiefs against
the Bills, Josh Allen versus Patrick Mahomes, and Mahomes has
a four to three lead in those matchups. Allen is
three and one at home excuse me, three and one
in the regular season against Mahomes, but zero to three
(02:26:16):
in the playoffs, and a lot was made of that
this week, saying why have you had so much success
in the regular season against the Chiefs and zero success
in the postseason, and he basically indicated, I really don't
care about beating them in a regular season game, right
you know, I need to beat him when it matters most.
That being said, I think this is a really big
(02:26:38):
game for the Bills. And they just scored a touchdown,
so right there, touchdown Buffalo to start this game. Rich,
But you know, whether it's a regular season James Cook
on the run there just for a Bills team that's
sitting at.
Speaker 1 (02:26:54):
Eight and two.
Speaker 2 (02:26:57):
Yeah, I think this is a huge game for this
team right now.
Speaker 1 (02:27:00):
I agree.
Speaker 4 (02:27:01):
First of all, I think it's an enormous, enormous game,
just just to give you a little bit more confidence,
to remind you of the fact that you can beat
the quote unquote best And I say quote unquote because again,
I think the Steelers are the best team in the AFC,
and it's because of who Mike Tomlin is and what
(02:27:22):
he's able to do in close games. I understand they
lost to the Colts and an ugly one, a close
one and.
Speaker 2 (02:27:28):
Lost to the extra point by the way, there you go.
Speaker 4 (02:27:31):
Lost to the Dallas Cowboys earlier this season. But I
think a buttoned up Steelers team right now scares me
more than a buttoned up Buffalo team or.
Speaker 1 (02:27:41):
A Chiefs team.
Speaker 4 (02:27:42):
I mean because the Bills, again, who have they beaten?
If they beat the Chiefs, it'll be one of the
only wins that really satisfies.
Speaker 1 (02:27:53):
What do you got.
Speaker 3 (02:27:56):
To amplify your point? You know, we hear about strength
the schedule.
Speaker 2 (02:27:59):
Yep, have a stack called so OV strength of victories
and there are only two teams that have a weaker
strength of victory than the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 1 (02:28:09):
Yeah, but they have it, and that's my point.
Speaker 4 (02:28:12):
The Bills, they've beat the Cardinals and the rest of
their wins are against the dregs at the NFL. So
you look at the Chiefs and you say, well they
have beaten good teams. They absolutely have. I'm not taking
anything away from the Chiefs. They've beaten a lot of
playoff contenders or certain playoff teams this season. However, I
will say this, even though Russell Wilson hasn't looked good either,
(02:28:36):
the fact that the Steelers are eight and two, starting
two different quarterbacks, it blows my mind. They're a better
football team overall. Patrick Mahomes has been the consistent starter
throughout this season, and the Chiefs have struggled mightily to
get to nine and oh now they are nine to zero.
And there is plenty that you could puff your chests
(02:28:58):
out and argue if you're a Chiefs fan, or if
you think I'm dumb for saying it, but I'm telling
you there's something special happening with this Steelers team.
Speaker 1 (02:29:07):
They never say die, just like the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (02:29:10):
And I think if Russell Wilson, if he can hone
in it a little bit more and not make any
of those foolish errors that he's obviously capable of making,
the Steelers are the most dangerous team, potentially outside of
the Detroit Lions in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (02:29:24):
All right, Remember a couple of years ago the Vikings
were eleven and oh in one score games in the
regular season, and we said they're not for real and
then they end up losing a one score game at
home to open up the playoffs against the Giants. Hard
to believe the Giants were in the playoffs couple years ago. Yeah, right, Well,
of the nine wins the Chiefs have had so far,
(02:29:45):
seven are one score games. They're seven to oh in
one score games, yep. And those are the kind of
numbers that again, like with the Vikings, they they started
to balance out right over the course of a year.
I'm just like, I'm never gonna get it. You'd be
a fool to ever bet against the Chiefs because they
(02:30:08):
just have the formula now to figure out how to
pull games out. But you just get a sense like, wow,
remember what happened last year with the Eagles. Eagles were
sitting at ten and one, and all season long we
kept saying, yeah, but they don't look right right. And
here the Chiefs at nine to zero and we're like,
(02:30:29):
they don't look right. I mean, their defense has been fabulous.
Speaker 4 (02:30:32):
Let me put it in these terms, if Patrick Mahomes
has played the way he's played for a different team,
not the Chiefs, like say, okay, this is a great idea.
Is this will help quantify how how bad of a
season it's been for Mahomes. If Mahomes was playing for
the Jets this season instead of Aaron Rodgers, the Jets
would still be an awful football team. Like the Jets
(02:30:56):
with the Jets need is somebody to elevate their roster.
Speaker 1 (02:30:59):
Now.
Speaker 4 (02:31:00):
Again, Patrick Mahomes typically a special quarterback finds a way
to win close games all those things, but he hasn't been.
Speaker 1 (02:31:07):
Playing capable enough football to.
Speaker 4 (02:31:09):
Carry a football team on his own, and no one
quarterback can do that. I understand that you need all
eleven on offense, you need all eleven on defense, you
need special teams, you need good coaching, you need good
game plans. All that stuff matters too, But you get
my point. If it was Josh Allen with the Jets,
really different kind of season. It was Lamar Jackson with
the Jets, even Joe Burrow on a lose on a
(02:31:30):
loser with the Bengals, or a five hundred football team
with the Bengals, it would be a much better situation
with Jared Goff, much better situation.
Speaker 1 (02:31:39):
Mahomes has struggled this season.
Speaker 2 (02:31:41):
I mean, look at these numbers. Think about this. His
first full season as a start, he had fifty touchdown
passes in twelve picks twenty six and five, thirty eight
and six thirty seven and thirteen forty one to twelve,
and then last year twenty seven touchdown passes, a career
high fourteen interceptions, and as we sit right now, with
that Picky threw earlier in this game, twelve touchdowns, ten picks.
(02:32:06):
I mean, his numbers have gone down dramatically, but you
know the one thing that hasn't been changed are his
wins and losses. Yes, this is a guy who's now
career record in the regular season is eighty three and
twenty two. Eighty three and twenty two. I mean, it's crazy.
Speaker 1 (02:32:29):
It is crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:32:29):
And what you just said, I mean it sticks out
like a sore thumb. There are no style points awarded
in the NFL. We talked about this a little bit
last week to Steve and probably around the same point
in the show, because it feels like a lot of
our conversations about, you know, the health of these two conferences,
what's happened in the early slay of the game, it
(02:32:51):
rolls you back into the conversation about who is lording
somewhere above the rest of their conferences individually and obviously
on the NFC side, it's the Detroit Lions, who just
put an absolute pounding on a team that if they
were playing in European football instead of American football, the
Jacksonville Jaguars would be relegated. That's how bad they've played
(02:33:13):
this season. But I digress. The point is, the Detroit
Lions are that team, and they've looked like that team.
On the AFC side, it's the Kansas City Chiefs, but
they have not looked like that team.
Speaker 1 (02:33:25):
They've got a better record than the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 4 (02:33:28):
If they faced each other right now, I think the
Lions would boat race him by twenty one points.
Speaker 3 (02:33:32):
Oh easy.
Speaker 2 (02:33:33):
I mean, by the way, after that interception, one play
drive to start the game for the Chiefs, a three
and out, Mahomes got sacked for a six yard loss.
So he has yet to complete a pass and the
Bills lead this one six to nothing, eight minutes to
go in the first quarter. All right, we got much
more coming up. Games going on right now, will preview
the Sunday night game. Keep it here.
Speaker 3 (02:33:55):
This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (02:33:56):
Brock again chased out by Raymond Jones, not gonna run
for the end zone and.
Speaker 13 (02:34:01):
Tie for the end zone touchdown, saying Francesco, We're gonna
call that the party pylon.
Speaker 2 (02:34:12):
That's CAMBR forty nine Ers Radio Network and Brock perty
and the forty nine Ers lead the Seahawks by a
score of seven to six. Once again, this is Red
Zone Radio. Steve Harbin, Rich Ormberger with you. We're live
from the ti rack dot Com studios. Want to thank
are eight plus plus plus supporting crew. Moncey Belanos, who
(02:34:32):
was in and out of well okay, she was you
know what I said, She had to take care of herself,
and yet she battled through and was able to get
all the updates, all the scores. She didn't short change anyone.
Chris who obviously running the board today. He's also been battling,
like a lot of us in this building have been battling, Chris.
(02:34:54):
But I'm sure you feel a little bit better today
after that annihilation the Lions put on the Jaguars.
Speaker 5 (02:35:00):
To I wish you could say it was because of
the Lions, but no, it helped. It definitely helped to
watch that game and not have any stress, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (02:35:08):
Yeah, no stress in that game. And then coach bo
is our brilliant producer here bo Eagles won six in
a row. We really didn't talk much about their win,
as impressive as it was against the Commanders, but it
would appear now the Eagles have control of the NFC East.
Speaker 12 (02:35:26):
Yeah, coming out here next week to Los Angeles to
play the Rams at Sofi Stadium. That's right, absolutely, So
you might not see me here next Sunday.
Speaker 1 (02:35:33):
We'll see.
Speaker 12 (02:35:33):
Is that a possibility, It's a very strong possibility. All right,
may be covering the game for Fox Sports Radio in
some capacity.
Speaker 2 (02:35:40):
So yeah, Dan and Carry are coming up, continuing on
with the Red Zone Radio after we get done. I
want to thank everybody for helping me out this weekend.
I came in a little under the weather, at least
from a voice standpoint, and battled, battled, had a battle.
It's just I can't there's no time off way, you know.
(02:36:00):
I don't take time off anyway, but especially at this
point of the season because so many interesting things are
happening in the NFL. Rich, I want to talk about
this game that's coming up tonight between the Bengals and
the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (02:36:13):
So the Bengals are in a must win, a must win.
Speaker 2 (02:36:18):
I mean, they're four and six, and this despite the
fact that Joe Burrow has twenty four touchdowns and four
picks this year. He was my preseason pick to be
the MVP, and statistically right now he's as good as
any quarterback in the league.
Speaker 3 (02:36:32):
Their defense is awful. They may need a change of coach,
but the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (02:36:38):
This is the team has yet to give up more
than twenty points in a game this year, and a
lot of people are thinking, well, that's going to change
because the Bengals can put up points. Tomar Chase is
just having a huge year for the Bengals. How is
this going to play out? Rich with that Charger defense
as stingy as it has been, going against a Bengals
team with Joe Burrow that's certainly capable of exploding for
(02:37:00):
big points.
Speaker 4 (02:37:01):
Well, I think I think the Cincinnati Bengal they're gonna
come up with a great plan against this Chargers defense.
But one thing that the Chargers have done and have
been able to do is wear down opponents.
Speaker 1 (02:37:15):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (02:37:16):
So this is unique because this has been a couple
of years since Justin Herbert has taken over this football
team and he's played for Brandon Staley, who I don't
know if I would regard any of those teams as
you know, or anybody would say, hey, what's the key
feature of this team? You wouldn't say tough, Like I
(02:37:39):
wouldn't think of the Chargers over the past handful of
years and say, man, that's just a tough team. You know,
where you're gonna get into a fistfight and they're gonna
come out on top.
Speaker 3 (02:37:48):
Are you saying the Chargers of Morphed into the Steelers.
Speaker 4 (02:37:52):
There's a little bit of the Steelers vibe in Jim Harbob,
there's a little bit of that. Hey, we're just gonna
outlast year. It may not be ugly, or excuse me,
it may not be pretty. You know, we we may
end up mashing up against you on the ground, or
you know, being a little bit undisciplined in the red zone,
(02:38:13):
or you know, finding ways to sneak past you with
you know, field goals, settling for kicks instead of points,
you know, in certain situations. But but you are gonna, Hey,
you're gonna walk away most likely a loser, and be
you're gonna walk away knowing that you faced us. And
I think Jim Harbaugh has accomplished both of those feats
in the early goings the season.
Speaker 1 (02:38:34):
Now actually it's not so early anymore. I mean we're
taking over to week eleven.
Speaker 2 (02:38:38):
Very comfortably in the playoffs at this point, City at
six and three, and obviously can enhance that with a
win today against the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (02:38:45):
This is a tough read for me on this game there.
Speaker 2 (02:38:47):
Go really is because the one thing about Justin Herbert
this year, his most impressive stat one interception the whole season.
Speaker 1 (02:38:57):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (02:38:57):
He's thrown one pick, and it just seems amazing because
every time under the previous regime, when he would fail
to deliver, you know, the argument was, well, he's our
best player. We got to put it in his hands.
And Jim Harbaugh has rained him in a little bit,
and I think he purposely had him throw the ball
very infrequently that last first three weeks of the year.
(02:39:20):
Now it's changed over the last several weeks, but I
think he just said, look, I want to prove to
you you don't have to do this alone. We can
run the football, we can play some defense. I want
to show you how we can win without having to
lean totally on you. And I think it's in the
mindset now of Justin Herbert where he doesn't have that,
you know, I got to have a big game or
(02:39:41):
we have no chance of winning.
Speaker 4 (02:39:43):
Yeah, the Chargers have allowed the fewest points in the NFL.
The Cincinnati Bengals have been good offensively, but they can
run into some problems here.
Speaker 1 (02:39:52):
It's hard to pick a side, I say, take Vander
take the Under.
Speaker 2 (02:39:57):
I'm gonna go with the Chargers in this one.
Speaker 1 (02:39:59):
Keep it going here.
Speaker 2 (02:40:00):
More Red Zone radio coming out
