Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is straight Fire with Jason McIntyre.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
What is up? Straight Fire? Fam, It's me Jason McIntyre.
Straight Fire for Friday, November First. Hope everybody had a safe, fun,
candy filled Halloween last night. Oh mine was glorious. Oh
was it spectacular? We divided and conquered. You know, we
(00:31):
got two kids now who want to kind of go
on their own, but they're not old enough to go
on their own. So his dad or mom is in
the vicinity, shall we say, with other parents? Obviously we're
not that helicoptery, but handed out a bunch of candy,
saw some pretty good costumes. We went to a house party,
(00:52):
hit up a block party, and oh, by the way,
I watched a little New York Football Jets during all
of that action. Now I will can I'm in a
dark place when it comes to the Jets, dark obviously
being the theme this week. Aaron Rodgers saying, hey, you've
got to make peace with the darkness, and then me saying,
does Aaron Rodgers think darkness is his ally? And I
(01:15):
just I wasn't keeping it one hundred with you guys.
I was not excited for this game. Come on, they've
lost five games in a row. Screw these guys, Screw
Aaron Rodgers. He wasn't delivering. We brought you here to contend,
and you let us down weekly in London. Okay, I'm
(01:38):
not gonna fine even if I don't pin the Broncos
loss on him. Let us down in the final drive
against the Vikings in London. Let us down in the
final drive against the Buffalo Bills. Brutal interception, flip the game,
late first half in Pittsburgh. I don't even know how
to describe the Patriots loss. And would you lose five
in a row. Your season's over. There's no shot of
(02:00):
the playoffs. You get down of the dumps. I've moved on.
I'm on NBA now. I'm starting to research college basketball
rosters and lineups. Oh yeah, oh yeah, that's coming. And
it's like, oh, that's right. The Jets are playing. I mean, folks,
you want to laugh. So if you didn't watch the game, okay,
I'll just give you this. So the Texans had the
(02:22):
ball first, the Jets forced a punt. You know, they
got a lot of pressure. It was great. Okay, Jets
take over first out. Aaron Rodgers looks to Devonte Adams, Devanta.
Adams has like a step maybe two on Stingley. I mean, oh, Mike.
As soon as they the camera pans down with the
ball in near, you're like, oh, Adams, this could be six.
And Rogers sails it out of bounce, not even close.
(02:44):
You're like this, you know, and you start murmuring cusswords,
and then the doorbell rings in your hand out candy.
Then Aaron Rodgers over the middle, Breeze Hall off his hands.
Breese Haall was turning his head to look up field
to make a play drop third down, Aaron Rodgers drops
the back look out sacked minus nine yards. They get
(03:06):
the ball, they go three and out. They had the
ball for one minute exactly. They got negative nine yards
and it's like, jeez, so depressing the rest of the
first half. Punt awesome drive. They do a finally, a
nice Ottle trick. Play to the kid Corley, the young
player who they like, who's dynamic. They he's like a
(03:26):
poor man's Deebo Samuel. Not yet, but that's how they
envision him. He look clear, path to the end zone.
He's sailing. He's so excited because he's never scored an
NFL touchdown. That Corley does like puts his arms out,
drops the ball before he gets in the end zone.
Ball bounces, goes out of bounce, touchback Texans ball. Instantly,
(03:49):
my phone blows up all these bleep and bleep, bleep, bleep.
These are your guys. It's just your kid, you know,
like all that stuff, And I was just so depressed.
The Jets end the first half down seven nothing. Fortunately
to be seven nothing. They had something like seventy yards
of total offense. But in the second half they were
able to turn things around. They went touchdown, touchdown, touchdown
in their three possessions and that's a rap. And it
(04:10):
was a good second half. I mean, the Jets played well.
I don't know if you can give credit to a
second half speech. The penalties kind of sort of slowed down.
The Jets are just so frickin undisciplined, so they had
nine penalties for eighty three yards. They gave the Titans
five first downs via penalty five just handing your team
(04:32):
your opponent multiple opportunities just abysmal. That being said, the
Jets defense did kind of lock down. CJ. Stroud had
not his worst game of the season, but probably his
second worst. Eleven of thirty for a buck ninety one,
and he was sacked eight times. His offensive line is
a joke. We know that, Okay, his offensive line for
(04:54):
weeks has just been putrid. I mean they might struggle
to block me. The Jets did bring some heat, had
a couple of sacks. DJ Reid had a sack. I
think another guy in the secondary might have had one.
But overall the Jessey Quinn Williams was a monster. Had
a one and a half sacks, two tackles for loss,
four quarterback hits. I think he forced a fumble that
(05:16):
was recovered by Yeah, he forced a fumble that was
recovered by Will McDonald. Quinn Williams had an amazing game,
but the Texans' issues are very clear. In a full
football game of sixty minutes, three players on Houston call passes.
That's it, Tank Dell, Robert Woods, Dalton Schultz, no running back.
(05:38):
They threw three passes to Ogunbowale, he didn't catch any
of them. A tight end Stover could not catch his two.
They tried a trick play to Stroud from mixing, didn't work,
and then Metchi and Hutchinson could not deliver on five
combined targets. Stroud was all over the place. Now, maybe
he was feeling the pressure. We know the green the
(06:01):
guard is a turnstile. He was getting lit up by
Quinn Williams. They just Lara mc tunzel is so overrated
at this point and overpaid. This is a bad offensive line.
You toss in injuries to Digs and injuries to Collins,
and this basically is We've got Joe Mixon and we
don't have much else. And again, this is not some
(06:22):
I know the Jets one and Aaron Rodgers technically had
a fourth quarter game winning drive and Garrett Wilson had
one of the best touchdown catches you'll see this season,
and DeVante Adams just cooked a defender on a beautiful
touchdown late in the game to lock it up. It's again,
on the surface, nice win, But maybe this is pessimistic
(06:44):
Jason who's kind of down in the dumps right. Zero
explosive carries, no carries, no rushes longer than eighteen yards,
and only two guys were able to unlock in the
passing game. Adams and Wilson. They're not They're still not
able to consistently get tight ends in the game and
Breeze Hall. I don't maybe it was the early drop,
(07:05):
but they didn't really look to him, and he's super
explosive and can outrun any linebacker. So again, maybe I'm
not picking. They did get a win over a six
and two team. Hooray, will take it. I mean that's great.
Now the Jets are off kind of the extra by right,
and they have the Arizona Cardinals up next to me.
(07:25):
That's a winnable game. I will be watching the Cardinals
very closely. And this is what the Jets do. They
lose five in a row and I'm out, I'm done,
and then you win one and they suck it right
back in and now you're like, oh, wait a minute,
let's look at Arizona. If the Bears can beat Arizona,
we know Arizona ain't that great. Arizona has won two games.
Both have been like at the last second, very very lucky.
(07:48):
They were outplayed by the Chargers. And see now I'm
doing going overboard. You guys don't care about the Arizona Cardinals.
I mean three of their four wins have come on
last second field wals. Okay, they look good against the Rams.
Week two, after the Rams have played the Vikings, like,
come on, what are we doing? Everybody looks bad after
they play the Lions. I will also point out we'll
(08:09):
do best bets later. I didn't bring this game up,
but the Titans played the Lions last week. The Titans
are now laying three and a half against New England.
Do you have the intestinal fortitude to back the Patriots here,
Jacoby Brissett. Likely just because the Titans played the Lions
(08:32):
last week, and so far this season, everybody who plays
the Lions has lost the next week. Now that was
a stat. I'm pretty sure I floated that on Cowherd
one day, and now it's everywhere, And I'm not trying
to act like I was first For sure, I'm pretty
sure I was. But I don't know that Titans game
is gonna be interesting against the Patriots, if only to
(08:53):
see if that's the only reason, really to see if
that Lions streak can keep intact. Then I only brought
up the Titans because of the Rams, and I brought
the Rams because of the Cardinals, and I brought the
Cardinals because of the Jets. And now I'm just like,
uh yeah, maybe it was a long night of Halloween
trick or treating and adupe everages. Okay, so we'll put
(09:13):
a ball on the Jets game at that and we'll
get to, Oh, any NBA that I flagged something in
the NBA that I had wanted to mention. Oh that
the Bucks lost again. Yes, the Milwaukee Bucks. I think
this is one of the most interesting developing stories in
the NBA. The Bucks get trounced by the Grizzlies. Giannis
has a real good game. The Grizzlies went by twenty
(09:35):
three points. Bucks one and four. Chris Middleton ain't back yet.
Dame shot one of twelve. You know, I'm a Dame guy.
One of twelve, Gary Trent Junior and Damian Lilar. The
starting back court was OHO for thirteen on threes. It's
like they're me shooting in my men's league. In the
(09:55):
last three weeks, it's been rough. So by the way,
side note, because you guys care of it. See I played.
We have two leagues. I'm not I can't do the
second one because it's Sundays and you know I got NFL,
And just keeping it real with you guys, it's okay
to do two leagues in like the spring. It's falls
just brutal. It's just so tough. So I don't play often.
But we needed a dude. So I was like, yeah,
(10:17):
I'm in of course, I paid for the season, and
I need to be you know, I need to stack championships.
I need my names on those trophies and banners for
my ego, of course. But like I played Sunday in
that league. I took three shots, missed all three. We
won by a million. It was whatever, and I was
(10:38):
just so out of it. I'm like starting to now
brame blame a groin injury on my shooting. I'm like,
I'm just not getting the lift. And I don't think
that's accurate, but I'm telling myself that. And so you
know what I said. This week, I'm gonna I'm gonna
go to this place. I don't know if you guys
have heard of Stretch Lab. So I've been going to
stretch Lab to get this groin thing fixed. But I'm
(10:58):
also taking a week off. Sho just not gonna shoot
the basketball at all. It may shoot this weekend, we'll see,
but I want to take some time off, you know,
just recalibrate because I'm on such a I'm on the
struggle bus. Well, if you're Dame Lillard, who's on the
struggle bus, Gary Trent, Yeah, this is the starting backcourt.
If they're on the struggle bus, they can't go anywhere
and hide. They're professional athletes.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Now.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
I know you can say, well, Dame's being paid fifty
million dollars or whatever the number is. Who cares if
he's struggling, like that's on him? Yes, also true, I
get it. But why I brought up the Bucks just
let's just keep an eye on you on us. I'm
not saying he's asking out. I have no idea what's
gonna happen. Nobody does. I just find it really interesting
(11:41):
that here we are in year two. Remember this is
the team that signed Adrian Griffin as the new head
coach and Dame those did. Those two did not get along.
They run off Griffin, they bring in Doc Rivers. He's
not winning games. Dame then is starting off slow here,
Like there's a world where this is a Bucks team
(12:01):
that's just not good and they lose in the first round,
and then what and then does Giannis get upset? I
don't know, is he competiti ough to be? Like you
know what I need to be contending, and you guys
aren't doing a good job. Remember part of it? I think, yeah,
I think someone in their ownership group, one of their
major guys, had sold a large steak after the championship.
Now there was a report is he doing this to
(12:23):
get out in front? In case he Honis leaves And
people are like, now, come on, Gebriel, We'll see. We'll
just leave it up. We'll see what happens with the honest.
All right, let's do best bets NFL in.

(12:54):
do it. Here's your best bet.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
All right, best bets win a little hog wild this weekend.
Ladies and gentlemen feeling it off that Jets win. And
you know, I gotta gain some momentum after last week's
one and four in the contest before that two and three.
So we'll get to the contest shortly, but let's start
with college football. Oh boy, I'm counting here is this
eleven yeah, eleven wagers this weekend, and that doesn't include
(13:21):
the big one, which is Ohio State. Give me Ohio
State minus three. I got that earlier in the week.
I'll take the three and a half two. I don't
see Penn State being able to hang here. James Franklin
consistently lets down in big spots, specifically against Top five,
specifically against Ohio State. Listen, there's a good Penn State team.
If this game were at night, I would be very
(13:44):
concerned for the Buckeyes. But a day game, it's just
not gonna be as juiced up as it would be
a white out Beaver Stadium at night. I've got Ohio
State winning this one twenty seven seventeen, fairly convincingly. For
my money, they're the best team in the country. I
know other people organ some will say Georgia, some will
still lean on Texas. I think Ohio State's the most
complete team and they will win the Natty this weekend. Elsewhere,
(14:06):
I am on Rice plus ten and a half. How
about the Owls, I've got South Carolina plus two and
a half, Auburn minus six and a half, Louisville plus
ten and a half. That's a risky one. Per don't. Yes,
I'm actually backing Perdue. They are horrible. My buddy called
me this week and goes, Dude, my friend has been
saying that you've been crushing Perdue. Yeah, I've been hammering Perdue,
(14:29):
but I'm on him this weekend plus one, Air Force
plus twenty two, Colorado State minus two, Old Miss minus seven,
South Florida minus two and a half, the Washington Huskies
plus three. And that's an interesting one because I know
a lot of USC people listen to this podcast. If
Lincoln Riley loses again, do I would say, start to
Lincoln Riley watch. But a buddy of mine was like, hey,
there is a ninety million dollar buyout for Lincoln Riley.
(14:52):
He's not going anywhere this year, nowhere, And I would
agree with that, but man, oh, Lincoln Riley. Geez. I
took the three with Washington, and finally Minnesota minus two
and a half got the Gophers in a tough spot
against mighty Indiana. But I think Indiana's probably thinking about
Michigan next week, and obviously that game against Michigan is
(15:14):
a big one. Just more than anything, it's you know, hey,
this is Michigan, this is Indiana probably the biggest game
in school history next week, or at least this generation.
But those are the college football picks. Let's go to
totals in the NFL four overs. What could possibly go wrong?
Over forty six and a half in Denver Baltimore. I
(15:35):
think Lamar is gonna play, right. I mean, goodness, gracious,
I saw illness out Wednesday, that it was a knee
on Thursday, and now it's like, all right, well, let's
see what happens Friday. I can't imagine Lamar not playing.
I'm going over anyway over forty six and a half
Denver Baltimore, over forty eight and a half, Ram Seattle
over forty three and a half, Washington, New York Giants,
(15:56):
and over forty six and a half Colts Vikings. I'm
sprinkling a little first half action. Jacksonville Philly under twenty
three and a half. Boy, Jacksonville, so beat up. Go
check out that injury report. You know, offensive line, they
trade away Cam Robinson, Christian Kirk. It's like, goodness, gracious,
hair beat up. And you know Doug Peterson wants this
(16:17):
game badly. But the Eagles, as everybody knows from watching football,
this season, are the only team in the NFL to
not score point in the first quarter. At some point
that will turn and they'll figure it out. And opening drive.
They did score an opening drive field goal last week,
but it was the field goal came in the second
quarter because the Bengals held the ball for so damn long.
I still think low scoring first half. And by the way,
(16:37):
how about Jacksonville coming out just sluggish in almost all
their games. They're just not good this year. And the
other first half? Oh sorry, two more Baltimore minus six
first half. They've had some late game problems, shall we say,
the last couple of seasons, including last week, two weeks
ago against Tampa and then finally the Vikings minus three
first half sides. Here we go. I know everybody loves sides.
(17:00):
Some of these were got earlier in the week, and
you know you don't want to give out lines that
are no longer available. But let's start with the Chargers
minus two against the Browns. I think everybody's on the
jamis Winston Browns train. Oh, it's so exciting. How about
that win over the Ravens again, Kyle Hamilton doesn't drop
an interception and don't take my word for it. Go
(17:21):
go look on social media. Type in Kyle Hamilton drop.
I mean the ball's right in his red gasket basket.
He catches that game over and you know, Winston was solid.
They put up a good fight, but they lost. And
then this line's probably higher. I know this is the Browns.
I believe, third straight road home game, so they're just
hanging out at home. You got jamis you got the energy?
(17:42):
This Chargers defense man, They are feisty. Part of me
wonders if a lot of the stats were built up
against bad offenses and bad quarterbacks. But is jamis that good?
I'm a believer in the Chargers here. I like the
Chargers minus two.
Speaker 1 (17:56):

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Live Ravens nine and a half listen. I don't love it.
I did lay it earlier in the week. Maybe I
should stop betting so early in the week this went
down to nine. Now we got the Lamar questions. Today's
injury report for Lamar will be big. I anticipate he's fine,
no problem. Denver's defense is legit, but as long as
the Baltimore doesn't collapse in the fourth. I like the
Ravens minus nine and a half Rams minus one. Loved
(18:29):
this game, have liked it all week. One thing that
I have not heard discussed as I was going through
in my notes last night. So last year, do you
guys remember the Ravens played the Rams in a thriller
in Baltimore. It was in the rain. Baltimore ended up
running a punt back in I think in overtime for
the victory or late in the fourth one of the
I think it was overtime. The Rams in that game
(18:51):
shredded McDonald's great defense. Okay, McDonald's defense was one of
the tops in the league last year, and the Rams
spot went up and down the field. This was a
December game. Here are the numbers for Stafford two hundred
ninety four yards passing, seven point two yards per ten,
three touchdowns. He was dominant. Kyron Williams ran all over them.
(19:12):
It was the Cooper and Pooka show, folks. They had
no problems with the McDonald Ravens defense. Why am I
bringing up McDonald's now in Seattle? And I don't think
the Seattle defense is as good as Baltimore's last year.
So if Stafford shredded it last year, whatever McDonald cooked up,
don't you think mcvay's gonna have an edge in mcveaigh
(19:33):
historically has done great against Seattle. Obviously a lot of
that was against Pete Carroll. But I like the Rams here.
I think they were a little undervalued. I saw stat
when they have Stafford, Kyron, Cooper Cup and Pooka all four,
there's something like eight and three. And then when they don't,
when they're missing just one of them, it's almost forty
(19:53):
nine ers. Like when they're missing one of them, all
of a sudden, things go a little wonky. Kyen Williams, man,
this guy is sod. He's really just putting up good numbers.
Cooper Cup probably not one hundred percent, but good and
Pooka looked one hundred percent. But Kyle Williams, fifth round
pick out of Notre Dame, one of the league leaders
in Carrie's touchdowns. I mean, the guy's a beast, and
(20:13):
they got all four of those guys healthy. I know
it's a divisional matchup, should be close. Give me the
Rams minus one Atlanta minus two. This one maybe a
little skittish. One thing that I definitely will point out
is the Cowboys linebacker stink. They are wretched in coverage,
specifically against tight ends. Last week George Kittle ate them
for lunch. Well, Kyle Pitts, who had a really good
(20:37):
game against Tampa and actually having one of his better
seasons as a pro. Kyle Pitts is in line for
a big game here. If you've got him in fantasy,
you're doing any daily fantasy. I think Kyle Pitts has
a big game here. I just can't get over the
fact that. And I don't care about Dallas on the
road versus home. I just look at indoor versus outdoor
and indoor they are getting boat raced by teams. I mean,
(20:59):
they're just teams are just way faster than them. The
Cowboys are just a slow team that lack explosiveness. So yes,
Atlanta won't be able to get pressure because they can't
get pressure on anybody. And Dak Prescott from a clean
pocket should have a lot of success with Ceedee Lamb
and even the other guys Tolbert and ferguson the tight end.
That being said, Raheem Morris there's just no there's no
(21:22):
way on planet Earth he lets Dak sit back in
the pocket and pick his defense apart. I'm assuming heavy
blitz here. I love Jesse Bates and the secondary make
it plays. He's gonna be hopefully the guy helping with
with Cede Lamb, because Ceedee Lamb, we know he eats
and the kid Terrell has had some major problems defending
(21:43):
number one receivers. So yeah, something about some stuff about
Atlanta scaresby, But I like the Falcons minus two here,
Saints amnus six and a half. Listen, Derek Carr's back.
I know the Panthers are getting somewhat healthy. The first
meeting was a Saint's blood bath, and historically used should
look to the dog and the divisional rematches dogging under historically,
(22:05):
But nothing about this Panthers team lines up. I mean, folks,
if you want to back them, go for it. Yeah.
I'm not saying you have to back the Saints, but
I laid a six and a half here. At some
point the Saints offense will get right with Carr. Everybody's
trending toward healthier, and that's not just offensive line, quarterback,
wide receiver, like the defense as well. Like the Saints,
(22:28):
I don't think they're as healthy as they've been in
a while. The Marshawn Latimore illness sorry hamstring has me
slightly concerned. But again, if he's able to play, you
know who does he lock down anyway? Like Adam Thielen,
who may or may not play. Like this is just
not a team in Carolina, you've got anything to really
(22:49):
worry about. I know they had a nice touchdown last
week from Bryce Young, and I actually picked up that receiver.
His name escapes me right now, but I picked him
up in fantasy because I'm desperate, because guys are on
the h on a bye. But I just tell me
how Carolina gets to thirteen points. We know the Saints
are gonna score. They lit him up last time, so
(23:11):
I do believe with car healthy, the Saints emerge once
again as a team that's like, oh, they've got some
things going on. I mean, Spencer Ratler's unplayable. I think
Carr has a solid game here. I like Kamara to pop.
I don't like anything about Carolina, and I do believe
they're the worst team in the league right now, them
in the Titans. So I'm on the Saints about of
(23:32):
six and a half Vikings abountus seven. Really like the
Vikings here against the Colts. The Anthony Richardson stuff. Listen,
I defended him earlier in the week. A lot of
people didn't like it. My guy, Matt Liinert, was like,
Jay Mack, come on, just stop, just cut it out.
You can't defend Anthony Richardson. And it was less about
defending him. He's indefensible. And yes, Joe Flacco gives you
(23:52):
a chance to win right now, but what are you
doing for the kids development? You drafted him in the
top five. Don't you befect him to hopefully be the
quarterback of your future? And after ten games you're pulling
the plug. Listen, I know Flacco right now is the
better quarterback, but it in no way shape or for me.
You definitely winning now. This line I got at seven
(24:13):
because it was an Anthony richards T from was starting.
Now Flacco down a five and a half. That says
all you need to really know. But again, I listen,
Flacco is a professional quarterback. He can drop some dimes.
We know what Flores is gonna do, okay, and Flacco's
not really mobile. This could could get ugly Vikings off
extra rest, Colts off a tough divisional loss. Listen, there's
(24:35):
a lot to like about the Colts and Stichen, but
this is just not a team I can back here
on the road. Vikings really are just such a defensive
headache for quarterbacks. They've really flumuxed more quarterbacks this season
than I think any defense in the league. And if
you ask me, I think this Vikings team is really
(24:56):
live to still do some things despite the loss last week.
They just need to get healthy. I like to trade
for Cam Robinson. We're now with Darisou out for the season.
So I'm on the Vikings here. Yeah, I think they're
certainly decide obviously. I got a bad number at seven early.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
In the week.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Eagles, I got them at seven. Yeah. I like them
against Jacksonville. I explained it earlier in the first half
wager at these think people are still kind of sort
of sleeping on the Eagles here, Guys. I know they
didn't cover at home against the the Browns a couple
of weeks ago at a big number. They totally control
that game. Fluke kickoff, field goal, run back, flip the game.
(25:34):
Jacksonville is just bad. I mean they are a bad
football team right now. I got Eagles minus seven, and yes,
I took the Chiefs minus nine, folks, that is crazy.
I'm looking now at all the eight sides and they're
all favorites. Holy cow, what am I doing? Eight favorites
usually not a path to much success. The teams I'm
looking at in the contests heavily Eagles, Washington Falcons, and
(25:57):
I got to find two more. So I've got my
work cutout for myself this weekend, folks, that's a long
Friday podcast. Everybody enjoy it. Baseball's over, got some good
college football, got some good NFL. NBA's back, college hoops
around the corner. November's here, folks. Enjoy it. Talk to
you Monday,
