They're coming to here in the dirag dot com studios
tirag dot com. We'll begin there. No no, no, you're
two kinds.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
No, you're you have to.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Stop it. Okay, maybe a little bit more. I'm I'm
you know what I yeah, yeah, yeah, I can use that.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
That's because me, like the rest of you guys, died
in my survivor pool already taking the Cincinnati Bengals. Yikes, yikes,
what is that about? What is what is that actually about? Oh?
We got to get in to the Bengals and what's
wrong with the Bengals. Uh maybe maybe maybe what isn't
(01:04):
wrong with the Bengals. Maybe maybe maybe that's what we'll do.
I don't know, Huh.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
I like this.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Jason Stewart, a steam producer of The Doug Gottlieb Show.
Tweets off coming off an NFL weekend with so many
upset Survivor pool uh, survivor pools destroyed. And on Tuesday
I tune into host analysts are going through the schedules
to judge outlooks. This league has never been less predictable.
How about stop lazy prediction segments? DEM's fighting words? Jay Stu,
(01:37):
Jay Stu, are you gonna call out who you're talking about?
Is that what you are you?
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Are we doing that? What are we? Are we doing that?
Speaker 2 (01:45):
So?
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I love it, jay Stu. You're you're fired up, You're
fired up. And and I was thinking about this, okay,
because this is the reality. This is a bit of
a humble brag. I got a chance, you know, the
U s g A has the Women's US open at
Aaron Hill's this upcoming spring summer. Right and dear friend
of mine, Ronald Lahy, is running a media day event
(02:08):
where got a chance to go down and play walk
eighteen holes, which was over fifteen thousand steps. Dan Byer
got my steps in, walked eighteen holes and walked I
think it's eight and a half miles as well in
a little bit of a little bit of rain it
felt like real golf. And we were driving back and
(02:30):
I was just thinking to myself about about Jay stew
your what's the what's the word I'm looking for your
statement about this being like the like the zur Rupa album, Right,
that's your thing. It's like, it's this is Zurrupa. This
is the Anybody will watch the NFL just because the
(02:53):
NFL even though the product isn't good, just like Zuopa? Right?
Did I get that right?
Speaker 3 (02:59):
And kind of yeah, more or less? More or wes?
I think it's the NFL seeing how far they could
push to their audience, and we're eating it up, and
we're watching more than ever.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Okay, are we watching more than ever? Are we watching
more than ever because of because we gamble on it?
Are we watching more than ever because it is so unpredictable?
Were watching more than ever because we just love football?
Speaker 3 (03:26):
I mean, I think we're watching more than ever because
we all have fantasy interests. You mentioned the survivor interest,
the gambling interest, and if you're watching from that prism,
I don't think you're noticing how dog crap the product is.
You just want to see if your action comes through.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yeah, was the action was it dog crap last night, though,
It's like it's a real question to you, like, was
it dog crap because the Bengals lost? Because, I mean,
if we're honest with ourselves, jayde Daniels was outstanding, you
know as a rookie quarterback. Two hundred and fifty four,
(04:05):
two touchdowns, no interceptions on the road, you know, and
he sprayed that ball around. I mean, nobody had more
than I think five receptions. I think Zach Ertz led
him with five receptions. Like that was pretty good for
rookie quarterback. And even as much as the Bengals end
up taking the l I mean, Joe Burrow throws three
touchdowns no interceptions. Granted, you know, a couple them late.
(04:28):
But the issue is that you're making the assumption that
it's always bad because touchdown passes are down. But last
night we saw two winners score thirty eight and forty
seven points.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Yeah, I would say that the Bengals game last night
was the exception to the rule. And by the way,
I don't need the numbers. The numbers are catching up
to the eye test, but I think the eye test
has told me in the last couple of years that
the product is down. I don't. I don't know if
I need stats to back that up.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
I think you do need stats to back it up.
I just do because otherwise then it's it's the facts
over feeling sort of thing. This show, by the way,
is brought to you by DraftKings, speaking of reasons we
love sports and football specifically. Stay tuned because you'll hear
more about DraftKings and all has to offer throughout the show.
DraftKings to Crown is yours. Okay, let's talk about Jayden
and Daniels. There were many when we got to the draft,
(05:19):
many who thought Jane Daniels he might be better than Caleb Williams.
And Caleb Williams was the number one overall pick. If
you go back two years ago, he probably would have been,
And so part of it is I operated in the
assumption that he was going to be and that he
was the better prospect, even though Daniels had a better
(05:39):
season last year and many pundits, many people in the know,
thought it might be the best guy. Here's Bengals head
coach Zach Taylor on losing three straight one score games
to start the season.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
We have to create our own opportunities when you lose
three one score games, no one's going to give you anything.
And so again, there there's no gift we're expecting to receive.
We have to go take it, and we haven't. We
haven't done enough really dictating the tempo of the game.
You know, as collectively offense, defense, and special teams. There
hasn't been one unit that's that's dominated to really take
(06:14):
the pressure off the other unit, and so this falls
on everybody, and it's frustrating. It's a kick in the
gut when you put on alls work in the off
season training camp and you feel really good about the
team and you start out own three. But again, it's
that is what we are right now. And I told
these guys, we got to find a way to get
a win next Sunday and we'll get this thing moving
(06:35):
in the right direction.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
The Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Traits. That's
that's that's Zach Taylor kind of being a matter of fact.
And it's not that they're just that they're owing three.
It's that they're own three and two of those losses
are Patriots at home and Commanders at home. And look,
the Commanders may be way better than we would have thought,
and the Patriots may be better than we would have thought.
(06:59):
But the reality is that the perception is those are
two non playoff teams and they it wasn't just that
they beat you, they beat you at your place. Speaking
of that non playoff team, expects expectation. Dan Quinn's the
head coach of Washington. He said this about his rookie quarterback.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
He's a really cool customer and he's got like real
poise about him. I thought, going in, we knew the
importance of the ball and you know the decision making
for that. We just couldn't give them short fields and
chances to go. So his ability to know when to
when not to when to make a play with his legs,
I thought, we've seen a lot of this at practice
and now it's carrying over into the games where the
(07:38):
decision making sliding going taking your shot. But I thought
it was a really strong performance tonight by him.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
It was a it was a very very strong performance
by him. And then the question becomes did did the
bear screw it up? Right? Did the bear screw it up?
And and I listen. I listened to Calherd just like
I think you all do. I love him. I think
Collin's incredibly talented, but I also might point out that
(08:05):
at some point there has to be an accountability for
the player. They went out and built an entire newly
new group. Granted their offensive line is not playing particularly well,
but this whole idea that Chicago doesn't know how to
develop quarterbacks, like the guys developing Caleb Williams are completely
different than the ones that we're trying to develop Justin
Fields are completely different than the guys that are trying
to develop Mitchell Trubisky. At some point, you know, Trubisky
(08:29):
wasn't that good. You know, Fields is winning, but it's
not because of his arm or his development. It's because
he's really good defense. He's valuing the ball, he's running
it instead of turning it over, and they're keeping everything
safe and they're just and they played a pretty soft schedule.
I do want to get to one other topic of
(08:51):
the day, and this is a really interesting one. Brett
fav announced today that he has Parkinson's disease. And I
understand that now if you bring up the name Brett
Farv because of the controversy and the accusations of what
(09:13):
he was doing and how he was where they were
getting money in fundraising for his all moderate for his
daughter's volleyball team to build a new facility. That Brett
Farr becomes a name for many people that rivals that
of people in the Me Too movement or even you
know Diddy or any of these other guys that have
(09:34):
been locked up. The fact is that if you I
have defend Brett Farr from this from this point of view,
I don't think and there has been no proof otherwise.
I don't think that Brett Farv had any idea that
they were builking funds for the poor to fund this
(09:55):
fund that field house. Like Brett Favre's a lot of things.
I don't think that's the person that he is, nor
has been proven by anybody any stretch that he had
any sort of knowledge of where that money was coming from.
Now you're just raising money for your Alma manter like
and you call people and you know, say like, hey,
where you getting the money? I got it? Don't worry
(10:16):
about it, Okay, But still you say Brett Favre and
people roll their eyes. You say Brett Favro, and people
talk about the you know the picture. You say Brett
Favre and you think of, let's just be honest, Brett
Favre was kind of a cult hero. He's not the
greatest quarterback ever, but might have been the toughest quarterback ever.
(10:39):
And yeah, it's gonna be really interesting. You know. Brady
on one hand, looks like a million bucks and now
he's posting thirst trap videos on Instagram. Then you got Farv,
who you know, had the lou gerrig streak only in
(11:02):
the NFL, right, the Ironman streak in the NFL, And
now it's Parkinson's and who knows what's next? And oh yeah,
by the way, you know, it's a couple of the
toughest quarterbacks that anyone knows, right, Jim McMahon also suffering
a ton of ill effects after playing football, and now
Brett Favr as well. It's just sad. It's really sad
(11:29):
byer when you hear that, when you hear Farv you
grew up in Wisconsin. I know, not a Packers fan,
but it still is. Brett Favre, give me your.
Speaker 6 (11:40):
Thoughts well, and I got a lot of thoughts on
the Bengals too, if you want to hear those.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
But honestly, with this we'll circle back to with this.
Speaker 6 (11:48):
I'm honestly not surprised or shocked this is I mean,
especially on how his career ended. You think of the
concussion that he suffered when he played for the Minnesota
Vikings when they ended up having to play where the
golfers played, and I think at that time that field
was was not heated because universities around the country did
(12:09):
not have heated football fields. And I think about that hit.
It's not Minnesota's fault. A lot of them didn't because
you weren't playing in January. But the point is, is
not surprised by that, not surprised by the guy who
has the consecutive start streak in the National Football League.
You played through everything. Yeah, the only thing that was
(12:29):
shocking to me was it's now this generation of players,
and it's not even that shocking because we've seen other
far of contemporaries deal with much worse from what we
think were the effects of their football career.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
We're getting you your Bengal thoughts for Yeah, Well.
Speaker 6 (12:50):
I just I love the Zach Taylor the score in
one score games. It was a one score game last
night because they scored at the end of the game. Sure,
and Joe Burrow, by the way, I thought was great
last night. T Higgins filling in for this, you know,
coming in after the two game absence, Jamar Chase finally
breaking through the Bengals as an offense. I really had
(13:14):
no problems with you put up correct thirty three points, Joe.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
You can't give up them any points to a rookie.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (13:19):
Fact, that's the problem. And I think that's part of
even of what Jason is saying on the bigger picture
of the National Football League. So when you look at
these games that happened this past weekend, Commanders and Bengels,
is awesome if you love offense, but there's no resistance.
When you look at Cowboys Ravens, you say, oh, twenty
eight twenty five must have been a good game. Well,
the Cowboys were down by three scores and then just
(13:41):
had to rally back to make it look like it was.
It was actually close. When you kind of go down
the ledger, I like a little bit of everything. I
like momentum here, momentum there, offense here, defense there. If
it ends, you know, twenty seven to twenty four in
a good game, that's perfect. But I don't think he
got that the game of the week was Falcon, it
was Eagles Aints. It's fifteen to twelve. You know, it's
(14:03):
just it's all over the map, Packers Eagles. That was
a fun game in Brazil, wasn't it.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (14:08):
Absolutely, yeah, yeah, yeah, a real fun game. But that
one in Week three didn't necessarily match up, and not
all of them are going to be fun. But I
think that's also just to the point of where this
league is and who knows what? Who knows what is
an actual upset right now? As well? That's another thing,
because I have no idea who is who?
Speaker 1 (14:26):
You know, there's I watched a ton of college I
think this weekend I may have hit my mark for
most football games watched, right because you watch Thursday and
there's some college. Friday, there was college I mean again,
I was talking about I was going through my notes
of things I wanted to talk about, and I was like, man,
we hadn't even gotten to the fact that, you know,
Nebraska loss to Illinois, like Brett Beilima gets another big
(14:49):
win on a Friday night. But that's those Friday night
games nobody ever discusses. It's like they didn't happen. And
then Saturday. Obviously we had you know, Michigan bouncing back
after getting stomped at home by Texas. They beat without
throwing the football, blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
But what jumped out to me is the post of
quality quarterbacks. Right, Oklahoma's already made a quarterback change for
(15:11):
their upcoming game to Auburn, like this is you know,
was Jackson Arnold, Like he was supposed to be the
guy they had, Dylan Gabriel's good quarterback, and then when
he left to go to Oregon, everybody's like, don't worry
about it, We're actually going to be better. Well they're
actually been worse. The point of it is, I think
what people in college already know but maybe they're figuring out,
is there's just a post of quality quarterbacks. There just is.
(15:32):
And the same only at a higher level happens in
the NFL, and that affects things as much at any
And then you couple that of the quarterbacks that are
getting paid. When you pay guys this exorbitant amount of money,
which I'm not arguing whether you do or don't deserve it, right,
you're allowed to pay whatever percentage of the salary cap
you want. But the point is that many of these
(15:52):
teams that have these star quarterbacks now have some gaping
hole because they can't afford the rest of their roster
to be at the level that it was previously. But
so I can't determine whether or not the NFL's lack
of offense overall offenses, there's just not a good enough good
quarterbacks or that couple. Maybe it's coupled with the fact
(16:14):
that the teams that do have the good quarterbacks don't
have nearly as much money to spend on everything.
Speaker 6 (16:19):
Yeah, I think the Bengals are a perfect example. Do
you want to continue to play games like last night?
I would say no, Well, then you can't pay Jamar
Chase Anti Higgins. You know, there's obviously going to be
a decision with one of them, because otherwise then your
defense stays exactly the same as it was correct and
they hardly touched jaded and Dad knows last night there's
grades of a game that it was he was He
(16:42):
was really not under pressure for a majority of it.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Is jersey was clean. His jersey is absolutely, absolutely, positively
positive clean.
Speaker 7 (16:51):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
It's Doug Gotlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. John Middlecoff joining
us very very shortly. We'll talk let's go around the
Nfl'll talk about a bunch of different things. John to
join us here in the Doug Gotlieb Show on Fox
Sports Radio. I again, if you're not, if it's your
first time listening to the show, welcome in. Just so
(17:22):
you know, Jason Stewart myself are big Charger fans. Also,
so you know that in terms of uniform aficionado, that
is Dan Byer's domain. Right by the way, Dan, I
have a couple of uniform options for the Green Bay Phoenix.
I want to fire at you and you tell me
what you tell me what you like to do that
a little bit. Chargers all whites I think are their
(17:45):
best look. I love the powdered blue, but the all
whites are Wow, Goal charge us go. They're good, Dan
by Are they Dan Buyer approved?
Speaker 6 (17:54):
I have no problem with them. I don't know if
they're my favorite set.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
But yeah, I mean the power. My problem is the
powder blue and the yellow pants were. This is really interesting,
you know when when they debuted them like on the runway,
like runway models. Those look really cool. You look at
them on the field and it's probably a little bit
too much, a little.
Speaker 6 (18:13):
Too much sensory overload maybe.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Yeah. Whereas the Rams, I remember when they debuted there
was that sand that is sand color, uniform bone, bone,
bone color, uniforse that bomb a bombs had sand at
one point, but that's bone. Yeah, they have bone. Everybody
killed them on their kind of runway. And then you
watch them in the game, You're like, oh, I kind
of like them.
Speaker 6 (18:35):
Yeah, I'll tell you this, I'll kind of meet you
in the middle a little bit. I actually like their
white jerseys with their yellow pants if they would wear
and I like that. I like their blue tops with
their white pants.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
So okay, we'll get more on that, more on uniforms
in a second. First, let's bring in John Middlecoff. He
joins us in the Doug Gottlieb Show. Of course you
here is three now podcasts in the Volume podcast network.
Let's talk talk about the Bolts. Incredibly physical now stop
me heard this floor. But they got injuries and a
suspension of Drwyn James and Derwin James, the guy who
(19:09):
as good as he is, one he's struggled to stan
on the field healthy and then two like he leads
with his helmet. That's a hard thing to unlearn, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Yeah, I mean I listen, maybe call me an old
school guy. I mean, I think sometimes we overreact to this.
Now the rules are the rules? Is at a suspendable offense?
Speaker 8 (19:31):
I mean not the football I grew up on. I
found like you know, my dad and I'm in my thirties.
But it's just that one.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
I don't know. I'm always uncomfortable with that. Last year,
remember there was the play I think it was on
my Christmas Eve, Gardner Minshew or some holiday. Gardner Minshew
threw a ball and the Steelers guy destroyed him. I
mean it was a hospital ball, that's what it's called. Forever.
So I don't know. I mean, I get it to me,
(19:59):
the all injury. I didn't even see it at the time.
I was like scrolling This morning. When I woke up
in bed like five forty five, I was like, WHOA,
I must have missed this one. That's that's a pretty
devastating blow.
Speaker 8 (20:11):
And obviously I mean, I don't know about you, but
halfway through that game, when it was just two old
school physical teams, I thought Charges are a playoff team.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
I did too. I still think they are. But if
they're not healthy, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Like we exactly, once Herbert's limping around, boss out, you're
just like and then after the game also injured. They
got no shot, but like their version that first half,
they were like mirror images of the Steelers, who are
clearly pretty good too, right, I mean, that's eleven win
team right there. Now, you know, the moment Herbert started
(20:50):
limping around, it was they were in major trouble because
that was the type limp around that you go, well,
this is going to be a problem for a while.
Not I don't know how many games is gonna miss,
but it's gonna be one of those things that clearly
doesn't go away.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Nope, not so much. John Minikoff's our guests here on
the Doug Gottlieb Shaw on Fox Sports Radio, Bengals offense
is good defense yikes now at owen three and you
know we went through I think Bayer had the stat
yesterday that even in the seventeen game seasons, only two
teams have started to two and made the playoffs. Now
at owen three and it's not just oen three home
(21:27):
losses to the Pats, home loss to the Commanders. Those
are not good home losses. So with that in mind,
what what's wrong with the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Well, you know, to get to nine wins at three, right,
you got to go nine at five, So your margin
ferrera is really really small. I think the hard part
about that question is they lose the first week sixteen
to ten. Offense is terrible. They go toe to toe
with the champs, kind of blow it with a bad fumble,
(21:59):
but just play there clearly just a high level game
in week two and lose it. And then last night
the offense starts humming burrow, slinging it around, they're running
the ball, chase comes alive and they don't even get close.
I know, they scored kind of a hollow touchdown late,
but in the midst of the game they had they
went for two so and they didn't get it. So
(22:21):
they had twenty six, but let's just give them twenty
seven points. And they're staring at losing by double digits,
like that's a defensive issue.
Speaker 8 (22:29):
So I think you just have too.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Many question marks. Now you got Burrow, you got good
offensive pieces, but if you can't cover, you can't cover.
You know, football obviously, scheme matters a lot, and you
can overcome like you did have a good offense without
Jamar Chase or Justin Jefferson. It's why you know, coaches
get so much credit on offense. As a defensive coach,
(22:53):
sche matters a lot too, but you do need high
end players. You know, Belichick's has some good defense over
the years. He's also had a lot of Pro Bowlers,
and I think you look at that defense and you go,
I don't know if they got the dudes because j Daniels,
who clearly is a big time talent that I mean,
was just twice and Dice in them.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
Steug Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Radio. This is
John Middlecoff. He's the host of the three Now podcast.
You can check it out and download the pot the
Volume podcast network. What now for the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
It's a good question. I mean, they might have a
legit personnel issue on defense because when you just watch
them on TV, they look small. They're getting shoved around
back to back weeks, Like if you can't stop the run.
In the NFL, you're gonna have a long day because
they're gonna slow down the game. They're gonna wear you
out on defense. And you know, the one thing the
(23:51):
Cowboys do have going for them is they do have
a good quarterback and they've proven over the years they
can score points. But you just keep that offense off
the field and you just run down the throat and
it demoralizes you. He knows one thing, when you blow
a coverag and a guy catches a touchdown, tip your
hat when you have you know, eight to ten play
drives of just run after run. And let's face it,
(24:12):
Parsons is a big time talent. He's going to get
paid a lot of money, but he's not exactly red
you White against the run. So you can lean on him,
and right now they're getting leaned on them just looking
at television, like when you watch him play, they feel small.
And that's what happens when you get gashed in the
run game. Your defense feels small and it's you know,
(24:35):
there's not just Sam Adams or Tony Sarah bus is
sitting out there on the open market like you kind
of got what you got.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Stug Gottley Show here on Fox Sports Tradio John Millkoff
as our guest. You know me, we talked about this
last year. I'm not a big Derek Carr guy. I
know how well they played early in the season. Now
the Eagles go get a win in New Orleans and
they point out they're not Derek Carr. Guys, is he
there limiting factor?
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Well, let's face it. I would say if you remove
the bottom six seven quarterbacks in the NFL, most guys,
if their team is running the ball well, dominating on defense,
can get into a rhythm and look really good. But
Daniel Jones has looked pretty good in the last game
and a half. So Derek, his team was running the
ball out of this world and we're just throttling people.
(25:25):
Then they played Viick Fangio in the game, was ugly
and he had a mental breakdown at the end of
that game. That for a guy who spent the league
ten years and made over two hundred plus million dollars,
it's pretty bad. Right, you're down three. There's not a
Cousin situation where you've got to push the envelope because
you're down a touchdown or you need a touchdown. To
win the game. Three a field goal sends you to overtime,
(25:48):
and to throw that ball over the middle of the
field is like if that happened in a spot to
Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson, you know on a Sunday afternoon,
they would get a viscerator because it's just such a
low level play. So listen, I got CJ was a
little aggressive with his comments, But yeah, I mean it's
(26:09):
a it's a big question mark. Let's face there's a
big game in Atlanta. I put some money on the
think to win the division, to make the playoffs. Obviously
it's feeling pretty good, you know after two weeks, but
all of a sudden, you lose your two and two.
I mean, you got problems. So Atlanta's good on defense,
(26:30):
we'll see. I mean, I think there's a big, big
moment for for Derek to go on the road and
play a really, really physical defense, and we're gonna find out.
You know, if he looks like he just did, they'll
lose again.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
You know, our boy Cowherd has crushed the Bears organization
right and their coaching staff for their inability to develop
a quarterback. But is it possible that it's actually the quarterback,
not the organization.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
I watched that game back on Monday morning at the
gym just because you know it's going on with like
five different games, and really kind of locked into it.
The quarterback play, if you're Ridgim, is way worse than
Caleb Williams in that game. Caleb actually made a lot
of good place because I was critical just watching it
on the four box, and then I went back and
kind of watched it. I actually think he was better
(27:19):
than I thought, but I do think like they gotta
get better. One thing Champagne did a good job when
Pampa in the game on Sunday was have Bo get
rid of the ball pass just try to get balls
in and out. And one major problem for the Bears,
and this can't be put on Caleb. Their running game
situation is embarrassing, and running the ball helps the young
(27:42):
quarterback a lot. Like look at Jane Daniels. Obviously he
can run, but Brian Robinson's a really good running back.
So Caleb definitely has held on to the ball a
little bit too long on a bad pick. He still
does the scramble here, I'll think obviously there's you know,
things he has to work on. But I know this
like last year, because so far through three games, most
(28:02):
people conventional wisdom would be Caleb the hype machine hasn't
come close. And that's that's fair. But like you can
watch individual plays and go listen. I remember last year
with Bryce Young going this is a disaster because.
Speaker 8 (28:14):
Physically doesn't have it. You see the physical attributes.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
He just missing on some long throws. I actually have
more glass half full after rewatching that indie game on Caleb,
and I'm like glass half empty. Anthony Richardson, it's hard
to play with a quarterback like that. I mean, his
Caleb does have some touch. Anthony Richardson's got balls all
over the yard.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Now, people, people, people didn't like that. I tweeted out
when I'm watching him play the Packers, he's not an
NFL quarterback, Like, tell me I'm wrong.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Yeah, I mean a lot of people are like, well,
Josh Allen's rookie year. I don't know there was a
smoothness to Josh Allen that there is just a I
felt like Josh had way more touch even though he
had accuracy issues. This guy's only throwing fastballs and he
thinks he can do things like that Mahomes and Josh
(29:10):
do now you know, roll into his last off the
side of it, put throw it like thirty yards across
his body. Like what is I mean? He's hitting defenders
in strong like that throw last night, Trevor Lawrence, the
pick to Hamlin was an awful throw. This guy's making
throws ten times worse than that. And I look in
(29:30):
Shange Psyching. Obviously, everyone that's ever been around him loves him.
His resume speaks for itself. This is a challenge because
listen to your coach. Now, sometimes you work with these projects.
They when you make them and they come to fruition, you.
Speaker 8 (29:47):
Look like a genius.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
But a lot of them, I mean, you can get
the greatest coaches in the history of any sport are
just that there's a ceiling on it, and the talent
usually gets you into trouble because you hold on for
longer than you should.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
Okay, Jayden Daniels, is that is he the real deal?
Is it? I mean that was pretty impressive.
Speaker 8 (30:10):
That was a pretty big time.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
He was an excellent deep ball thrower in college and
that immediately translated last night. You saw the touch obviously,
the throw early in the game to Terry was really impressive.
But that touchdown passed in the back of the end zone,
which essentially ended the game. I don't know, I've watched
basically every game through the last three weeks. Might be
the best pass of the year. You know, he's under
(30:34):
pressure games on the line, big spot, he puts it just.
I mean, that's like a pet play Cambra or Peyton
Manning would make from the pocket. And obviously his athleticism,
it's arm strength. I mean, how many plays did he
make on third and long? Hitten ERTs hidden? You know,
I almost say Christian McCaffrey, Luke McCaffrey. He looked awesome,
(30:57):
And to me, the number one thing he did last
night that made everyone and smile was that slide because
you can't run around and just take all these hits
because clearly he's the franchise, but that was a that
was a really really that was a fantastic win for
their franchise, right, which kind of sucks because it was
like a doubleheader on Monday night. I don't know about you,
(31:19):
like Thursday night, Sunday night, Monday night. A big part
of you know, NFL football getting the primetime game is
you kind of get it to yourself and all the
time that last pass happened for Jayden. Obviously the other
game was ended, but it kind of gets blocked in
the shuffle and that was cool to watch. He was.
Speaker 8 (31:35):
He's a fun player.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
I mean, he's he's got fast as Kyler, but in
terms of the pops and stuff with his arm you
kind of see it. But he's way taller, so it's
easier for him to play in the pocket.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Yeah, good stuff. John. Check out the three Now podcast

The Doug Gotlip Show. You're on Fox Sports Tradier live

a little game. We do so with Dan Byer.
Speaker 7 (32:22):
This is game time on the Doug Gottlieb Show.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
All right there, Dan Barr, what's the game, Doug? The
game today is rank them?
Speaker 6 (32:40):
All right? I would ask you what your three favorite
holes that Aaron Hills were, but I didn't realize you
were there until we started the show today. So but
maybe maybe put that in the back pocket at the
end because it's not on today's.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
Actually, I have a glove in my back pocket.
Speaker 6 (32:55):
All right, Doug, Right, your top best three teams in
the NFL right now through three weeks because of the season.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
That's a great question.
Speaker 6 (33:03):
Five unbeatens, but huh, there are five unbeatens.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
There are five unbeatens. I don't know if they're the
best team, but I think I would I feel like
a dummy if I didn't put the put the Chiefs one, right,
I just I would feel like a dummy human being.
And I'm not a dummy huim being. I do dumb things,
but I'm not always a dummy being. So it comes
(33:26):
down to two and three, and I think the Bills
being two is pretty easy. And then it comes down
to three and you got Steelers, Vikings, Seahawks, right sure?
Speaker 6 (33:40):
Or one team who knows?
Speaker 1 (33:42):
Yeah, I mean could be you know, Packers, but they
haven't had their quarterback Eagles, but you know they I
thought Jalen Hurts gave away the game that they lost.
You know, Jets, no Texans, they just had them look
that good. So I'm gonna put for my number three
team the Minnesota Vikings. Good call Vikings. And as much
as we could sit here and go like, hey, Sam Donald, easy, gottlieb,
(34:04):
I no, you're a fan. That's fair. It's actually totally fair.
The problem is that couldn't you make the same argument
by Justin Fields. Couldn't you say, make the same argument
about Geno Smith? Of course you could. So Gino has
had more success in the NFL than Sam has had,
but similar career path. I'm gonna go Vikings Vikings.
Speaker 6 (34:25):
All right, So, Doug, you've crossed off lambeau Field on
your bucket list of NFL stadiums did that week to
against the Colts? What are your next top three stadium
stops in the National Football League? Where would you like
to see a game?
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Oh, I'd like to see a game. Oh three would
be Bears. Just I don't know, Soldier Field. I know
it's not like it used to be, but it's still
you know, like we all grew up eighty five Bears
and the shots of Soldier Field, And I don't know
if it's like Soldier Fields of places i'd like to
see a game I want to be I want to
(35:00):
to Seattle. Seattle's too, I liked, I'd like to go
see a game in Seattle. Uh. And then the number
one place I'd like to go see a game Buffalo.
Speaker 6 (35:12):
Yes, especially before their new stadium gets built. I'd like
to see what a game at high Mark Stadium. This
version of it looks like I think that's a good pick.
All right, we've got we got Georgia Alabama coming up
this week in college football. That may be an answer here,
But Doug, your top three matchups that you want to
(35:36):
see in the SEC They could be on the schedule,
they may not be on the schedule, but the three
best year, Yes, this year?
Speaker 1 (35:45):
This year, well, Georgia Alabama's one okay, okay, Tennessee Georgia's
two ole miss. Tennessee is three ole missed.
Speaker 6 (35:56):
Let's see. All right, I know we're gonna get any
Texas in there. I wasn't sure, but by the way
I predicted beginning of the year, and Sam knows this.
I think Georgia and Texas played three times this year.
That's my prediction, all right, Doug, rank, what we will
remember most about Dion Sanders when we look back at
(36:16):
Dion Sanders and look at Dion. What are the three
things that we will remember most about Neon Dion?
Speaker 3 (36:28):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (36:29):
Okay? Number three would be his coaching at Colorado? Okay, okay.
Number two will be playing baseball and football playoff baseball
game and football game same day. And number one just
the primetime, just the flamboyance of it, all right, Doug.
Speaker 6 (36:50):
And finally, what were your three favorite holes at Aaron
Hills today?
Speaker 1 (36:54):
I was so bad, I was, I was? That was
so bad.
Speaker 6 (37:00):
Three ninth is a favorite.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
It is so cool elevated tea box. You look down
and it's got these really cool uh sandtraps that bordered
the hole on all sides. Sure, daunting, dunting. I liked
one because I actually played a decent I like us,
which I think was a Part five as well.
Speaker 6 (37:23):
It plays like a par five or it feels like it,
but it's a part four. Sure yeah, all right?
Speaker 1 (37:27):
And then I liked eighteen because it was raining and
I was.
Speaker 6 (37:30):
It was over and that's the beast of a hole
and that's rank them s.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
