(00:41):
You're having a great day. Now I'll listen. You're too kind,
You're really too kind, and like, here's generally the way
sports radio shows work is, you know, especially ours, is
you get up in the morning and you watch sports

(01:03):
last night. I mean, we're creeping into the last weekend
of the regular season the NBA. Of course, here we
are with this with the second round of the Masters
taking place. So you're looking for kind of a lead
story and I don't know, you hop on the phone,
you try and figure something out. What is this lead worthy?
Is that lead worthy? How does this sound? How does
that sound? And I was thinking earlier today and Jason's like,

(01:30):
it's a really good point, like, hey, you know, we
haven't realized that there's at least a portion of there's
the probability has to be creeping closer and closer to
fifty percent that Aaron Rodgers is never going to play
football again. And you know, it's fascinating because I think

(01:56):
a lot of us, and by us, I would say,
us in the media have grown frustrated by Aaron and
the idea that he kind of holds this thing hostage, right,
Like are we really going to wait for Aaron Rodgers
to ride in on his white horse? And the more
that you watch teams make decisions about their quarterbacks and

(02:20):
making other decisions, or even the Steelers bringing in Shador
Sanders or Schador Sanders, people saying hey, he'd loved those meetings,
he was really comfortable. And then we factor in that
there was an internet rumor which I bought into, that
he was going to announce on Pat McAfee's show, which
was live in Pittsburgh, and it was some sort of
variety show that he was coming to Pittsburgh. He did not.

(02:44):
And in the all time, what's the word I'm looking for,
inauspicious endings to a career, we may be seeing one
here with Aaron Rodgers, because I think at his core
he has never wanted to be what so many of

(03:06):
these veteran quarterbacks are, which is, you know, bounced team
to team. I'm gonna look Joe Flacco again and not
let's not even say that Joe Flacco is. He's not
a Hall of Famer, He's not in anywhere near the
conversation Maaron Rodgers. But he is a Super Bowl champion quarterback.
And Joe Flacco has made the cognitive choice a couple

(03:27):
of years ago to be okay with being the ever
president veteran backup collecting you know, several million dollars a
year with low expectations of playing, and then be ready
to play when he does get an opportunity. That happens
to a lot of these guys. We've said it before,
or at least I have that. I don't see Russell
Wilson ever wanted to be a backup. Like the fact

(03:50):
that Russell Wilson signed with the Giants must have told
me that they said he's going to be their starting quarterback.
And oh yeah, by the way, to me, that means
the Giants aren't serious about winning games. They're just gonna
run it and and control the ball and kind of
manage him. But again, Russell Wilson has gone from the Seahawks,

(04:11):
to the Broncos, to the Steelers, now to the Giants. Right,
that's that team hopping that only happens at the end
of your career. And I've never thought that Aaron was
that guy. I still don't think Aaron's that guy. And
it feels like he must be done, Like he just
couldn't get himself to the point to where he's excited

(04:32):
enough to just go, this is what I'm gonna do.
And if you can't, like we're two weeks away from
the NFL Draft, if he hasn't made a decision, you know,
in two weeks, every team is going to select, probably
on the second day, a quarterback that they feel like
will eventually be viable. And then once you have a

(04:54):
couple of quarterbacks on your roster, you're not gonna add
Aaron Rodgers because if you're going to to add Aaron Rodgers,
there would have been more teams that were reaching out
to him than have reached out to him. And you know,
this is a it's always an interest. Johnny Uniteds obviously
famously was. He was a charger when it came to

(05:15):
an end, right, But Troy Aikman was not. That was
ended because of concussions. Uh. You go and look at
Hall of Fame quarterbacks and it's about a fifty to fifty.
Do they stick with one team, one or two teams
and then right off in the sunsets or they do
to the five to six team sort of deal. This

(05:37):
is probably one of the most, if not the most
inauspicious ending to a first ballot Hall of Fame career
we've ever seen for a quarterback. And yet we don't
actually know that it's ended. I'm just guessing because we
haven't heard from him yet. Jay Stu, What what does
is there a is there a musical or some other

(06:00):
a reminder in terms of retirement that went this way
where all of a sudden, somebody just because it does
feel like Aaron Rodgers is going to just drop off
to face the earth whenever he starts playing.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Yeah, I don't know. I was just looking at a
list of guys that bounced around. And so Joe Namas
was another one of the Rams uniteds. You had mentioned.
Michael Vick was a Steeler. Does anyone remember that? Yeah,
he was a steeler. I'm looking at a picture of
him right now. Brett Favre, I think, I think that's

(06:35):
that's another angle here. I think that's.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Almost he was almost a Viking and then the Vikings
seemed to cool off on that idea.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
But Brett farm has a successful third act. Yeah, I
think that's what Aaron's holding out for. He wants. He
wants a successful third act like Brett did. But it
is it's unusual you think that Aaron is the opposite
of of cliches, being a cliche, Like he probably goes
out of his way not to be predictable or a cliche.
But this is what quarterbacks do at the end of

(07:07):
their careers, healthy ones. Anyways, Philip Rivers is another one.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Uh yeah, Philip Rivers went to Indie. Do you go
anywhere else? Uh?

Speaker 3 (07:18):
Maybe not?

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Yeah, that's interesting. And I think the weird part about
it is we seem to know, we seem to feel
like we know everything about people nowadays, know what they're
going to do before they do it. And yet with him,
we have no idea, without a clue. And so again

(07:41):
I'm not saying he's done. It just feels like, Okay,
Pittsburgh welcomed you in, you toured the facility, and we
thought there'd be some announcement. There isn't. Now they're taking
other visits from Shador Sanders and who knows who else
is he calling it quits? And anyone who says they know,

(08:02):
I don't think they do know. I think that's and
that's exactly how he wants it. Just super weird.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
What did the Steelers owners say at the meetings a
couple of weeks ago, the.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Take all the time he wants, but we need to speak.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Will need to wait a little bit. I think, yeah, yeah,
but not forever.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
No, not forever. How we reach forever? That's the question.
How long is forever? Forever? Is not forever? Ever? You
know how long is forever? It's a great question. Does
anybody know how long forever is? In the Steelers, in
the in the Steelers' minds, I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
I don't know. If you had to guess, does he
play this year? My answer is probably not? Right? Is
I think no, so, but I just I have no idea, Sam,
what do you what do you think?

Speaker 5 (09:00):
I think when we have Rogers' name and him as
a topic in the sporting media, he likes that. So
whether he's holding out for like the best opportunity for him,
it works out either way because he's he's his name
is relevant and it's out there. I do think he'll
play this year. I think he'll sign with the Steelers.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
But again, why hasn't he done it already? And I
know you don't know. I don't know either, But again,
like I'm just trying to hypothesize, like if he wanted
to play for the Steelers, why hasn't he played for
the Steelers?

Speaker 5 (09:35):
It's a great question. I just I just think that
whether whatever he's working on the background, he comes up
just like right now as a topic and we're talking
about him, is relevant. He's okay with that, He's okay
with taking his time. But I don't know, I don't
know why isn't Why would the news heads work.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
We're kind of out of time, aren't we.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Yeah, because if you don't get Aaron Rodgers, then you
gotta go, Hey, we're gonna have to then they may
have said, we're gonna already draft our quarterback, but there's
no other veterans of substance that are out there. And
when you're Mike Tomlin and you're you may not be
at the end, but you're creeping towards the end. You
don't want to have a kid play quarterback, or maybe

(10:15):
you do, but you're gonna have to kind of surround
him with a different cast. It does it. Literally, one
guy does change everything everything.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
So you think it'll either be a young quarterback or Rogers.
And I mean, is Mason Rudolph He's not, probably not
the answer for the whole year. I think he's the
name in there in pencil right now, right.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Yeah, he's the placeholder. He's a placeholder. Mason's fine, Mason's
gonna let him to the playoffs a couple years ago.
But if it's not Aaron Rodgers, now, all of a sudden, okay,
we got to draft some young guys, probably on the
second day draft one, maybe even two, and Mason Rudolf
becomes your starter, and it looks very different than if
Aaron Rodger your starter.

Speaker 5 (10:50):
Yeah, those are drastically that fork in the road you
go down drastically different avenues there.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Yeah, here's a Shadora Sanders. He was on with Kay
Adams and he said this about his Steelers visit.

Speaker 6 (11:02):
I enjoyed my.

Speaker 7 (11:02):
Time very I think I connect them row with all
the coaches and those real fun I understand the mindset
and why they went a lot, just how he is
the first and you know just the value that the
team has and where he threaches from his stuff down
a similar show like my day.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
So remember shed Door Sanders, who wasn't going to go
visit a bunch of people. Now he's going to visit
a bunch of people. So maybe it signifies his stock,
his stock slipping, and it might signify that either the
Steelers are trying to motivate Aaron Rodgers, Hey dude, you
don't take it. We got to move on, or they're
trying to plan to not have Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
What Up Dog Godlib Shoe But but but oh so.
As we as we get into this new era of
college sports where athletes can be paid, and they're paid

(12:15):
above the table. Now they're also being paid by the
actual universities. Right, that's what the the what. What we're
planning with the opting into the settlement that's supposed to
be signed sometime this week means that you can sign
what's called revshare agreement with the student athlete and then

(12:37):
you can provide additional NIL if you want, or you
can or you can, uh not, you don't have to.
So this happened. Tennessee Volunteer's quarterback Nico i'm a Leva,
who's their starting quarterback, started last year as a freshman,

(12:57):
did not attend spring practice today. Told ESPN his absence
came as a surprise to coach and players. According to sources,
Iamaalva has been in conversations with the falls about a
new NIL contract. On Thursday, on three reported that he
and the NIO collective at Tennessee we're working on a

(13:18):
new contract. Several other quarterbacks, including Miami's Carson Beck and
Duke's Darien Menza, have signed NIL deals for specifically for
significantly more money this offseason. I am Alva was looking
to renegotiate his deal. The situation has been a growing
source of frustration among administrators at Tennessee and within the

(13:41):
locker room. Yeah, it's one of those. This is where
we really need to end the chaos of it. And
there has to be a way where contracts can be binding.
You know, so many people say, well, you got to
sign guys to coop to your contracts with buyouts. Great,

(14:03):
we'd love to the problem with it is, what's going
to make those kids other than we can hold onto
their transcripts. If we hold on their transcript somebody's gonna
make us look like we're the worst people on earth.
So you can sign a guy to a contract and
then he can get out of it. And in this
particular case, I believe as a quarterback he has a deal.

(14:28):
Other people's deals aren't bigger than his, so he wants
a therapist deal. This is where anybody who says it's
pro sports does not understand. No, it's not. If it
was pro sports, you'd sign a multi year contract with
no ability to negotiate. This is like some version of
au slash European basketball sports. But that's crazy, right, Like

(14:49):
you play a year, you go through spring practice, like,
yet you're not worth more money. So I'm just gonna
hold out. Mark Dominic joins us spent over spent over
twenty years the NFL front offices and the former gum
enter the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He joins us in the

Let's get to Aaron Rodgers. Felt like it was trending
the way of him becoming a Steeler, and then time

(15:35):
keeps passing and now nothing. We're two weeks out from
from the draft. When is the moment that you have
to know if you're gonna have Aaron Rodgers who starting quarterback?
If you're the Steelers front office.

Speaker 6 (15:50):
Yeah, you know, Doug and Tak having me on again,
you know we're what we've We've got the Ota is
coming up to them. You know that are people are
from the Pittsburgh Steelers, And as much as we'll see
how that works out, I think you're going to have
to have this decision part of his draft. I think
it's only fair to the Steelers that I would say
by Monday or Tuesday, it's the draft week, which is

(16:11):
right around the corner. Sure, it's kind of when you
kind of need that drop that to answer, like what
do you want to do? Because it's going to depend
on what we're going to do with the draft. And
I think that's a very fair thing to ask for
of Aaron Rodgers and his team. Again, I sit back
the same way you probably feels like you've had now
four months, you know, three months at least to think

(16:33):
about do I want to play again? Where do I
want to play again? What do I want to play for?
It shouldn't take much more to say do you want
to play? Don't you want to play? Every time I
don't hear something, Doug, it makes me feel more and
more right now, like maybe maybe Aaron really just doesn't
want to play, and maybe he has done. But I
you know, Pittsford giving me every indication of being patient,

(16:54):
like commins giving me every indication of being patient. But
it's a it's a surprise. I still think he becomes
a fitch for Steelers, but I think it has to
happen before the draft.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
It absolutely has to happen for the draft. There's any
to me, There's there's no question about that. Okay, cam Ward,
so you go.

Speaker 6 (17:11):
One, yeah, one. They've give you every indication that he's
number one pick. Uh They've done nothing in terms of
bringing quarterbacks into the organization, working quarterbacks out. They didn't
look at any of the usual suspects. I don't see
how there's any other way that that's that's got to
be the number one pick in the draft is cam Ward.

(17:32):
And I think that's sign Field delivered.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Yeah, it does. It sure seems that way. Uh So
then where's should go?

Speaker 6 (17:39):
Yeah? I think Shadur is kind of that one that
you know, whether he falls down and it's like in
that that New Orleans Saints where people are starting to
put them a little bit the Jets, or does he
fall a little bit further than that? But it sure
feels like the Giants are kind of like not sure.
Cleveland obviously with Joe Flacco and what they've done at
the quarterback spot makes you feel like they're not sure

(18:01):
even though they still can draft. I mean, any of
these Chiefs can still draft the quarterback and still have
another player, obviously because the quarterback contract is so much
more affordable. But I think Shader probably drops somewhere in
the nine ten eleven range with one of these thubs.
I think you could trade back and still vi Shador
And I think that's kind of where it feels like
he's going to go, not just two or three spots.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Stut Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, and
then we've talked about this a bunch, but now that
we're getting closer to it, what about the other quarterbacks,
the second day quarterbacks. I mean, I think Jackson Dart
is probably on many people's list the first of the
next guys. Where do they come in? Because it does

(18:43):
feel like that's uh, that's the sweet spot for this
draft with quarterbacks is getting those getting those second day,
second day guys and developing them where they're gonna cost
you less than those first four or five years.

Speaker 6 (18:56):
Yeah, but I think Jackson Dart goes in the first round.
I feel like, yeah, I think he will, you know,
a big surprise that I've heard, and part of two,
Jalen Milroe is planning to attend the draft, which is
a big, big surprise for me. So that can give
you to think, like, why would he want to go
unless you know, you think you've got some pretty good

(19:18):
information that you might be going in the first where
I thought Jalen might be more top of a second.
If he's going to attend the draft, that's he's getting
some strong signals from somebody that you know, you're in
good shape to be able to go to Green Bay
and hang out and not sitting in the war room overnight.
So the will Levis moment. So I think I think
Dark certainly goes the first in Milroe. If he does

(19:38):
go to the draft and actually does fall through and
shows up there, then I guess he might be more
the top of the first or right at the top
of the second. But bought of the first, right at
the top of the second, I think those are next.
I think Queen Yours is in the second round somewhere.
I don't think he's a third round, or I think
he'll go in the third. Excuse me, I think he'll go.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
In the second, who is Quinton yours is the quarterback?
Is he Chad Pennington?

Speaker 6 (20:01):
Yeah, I mean maybe that's a good one, you know,
the Colt McCoy in the world. But if you're looking
at the upside, you're hoping for the guy that you know,
you know everybody likes that I've heard in the sky
and that those people are comparing to Drew lock. Now
that's not a good sign for Quinn yours is you
want to be better than Drew Locke. But I think
if you're on the upside of it, you're trying for
that guy that may not have the most powerful arm,

(20:22):
but certainly have accuracy and has the intelligence and the
charisma and all that kind of thing that your careing
scenarios the Drew Brees of the world, even though that's
a heck of a reach, but I think that you're
looking at that kind of guy. It's better. But he's
a little bit better athletes than to think people realize,
and you certainly know he's battle tested. That's kind of
where I like him. That's why I like him in
the second round, and I would take him in the

(20:42):
second round because I think here's the guy that certainly
has dealt with pressure at the highest level and be
able to handle it.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Stet Gottlieb show here on Fox Sports Tray. That's the
voice of Mark Dominic. He joins us here as we're
creeping closer and closer to the upcoming NFL Draft. The
biggest strength of this draft is at what position.

Speaker 6 (21:04):
I think ed rushers, it's an outside linebacker, head dressers.
I think by far or where you're going to see
the best strength in this draft class. I think it
played a lot of people, you know, the ear to
see a lot of those guys go. Now it's just
at the top yer at the beginnings draft, but certainly
in the when we get the team in the twenties,
a lot of Hackey teams are sitting there looking at
these d drushers going, I'm in a good shape here.

(21:25):
I'm going to get a good one that I really like.
And I think I think it's clearly those players are
going to I think, you know, dominate the bottom of
the first where you think about uh Williams and Green
and Pierce. I mean, you know, there's just a lot
of guys, so I think you could have side here
outside rushers and ed Rudgers. I think you could have

(21:46):
easily eight guy come in the first round.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
Wow, is there one that you don't like? There's one
like that? One I would stay away.

Speaker 6 (21:58):
From if I think it's what you're looking for. Uh,
I get I get a little worried about Williams out
of Georgia. He's a big guy. Uh is powerful and long,
but sometimes he plays at a higher pad level, which
makes me nervous. Will he be as effective at the
next level or not? So if I had to be
really difficult at one of these guys, I would say

(22:19):
he's a little bit scary. James Pierce brings an unbelievable
tool package to work with. But you know, again, bending
around the corner, you know, that's where a private workou
would be really important for me with James Pierce to
actually watch him drop his weight around the edge because
he's going to have to be able to get that edge.
You know, he can do it with a fastball, right, Doug.
But you've got to be able to. You've got to
be able to. Yeah, you gotta have you gotta you

(22:42):
gotta have another pitch. And and that's where I'm worried.
Does James Pierce have another pitch? Uh? That's where a
private workout, those are the lord of private workouts are critical.
So for James, you know the speed. Obviously, we also
have the combine work at We just want to make
sure that he can find the other move inside with
meaning dropping his inside show or in his knees and
his ankles all band at the same time, so you

(23:03):
can diet like a like a Derek Thomas if your
old school, if you can think a vote that or
Von Miller type of move.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
So edge rushers, oilbs or whatever are the strength of this draft.
Take quarterback out of it. Numbers aren't as deep and
not as well regarded as others. But what other position
is weaker in this draft than in most previous drafts.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
Well, I think the linebacker position is very weak if
you just look across linebackers just in general. Yeah, John
Walker's kind of like the He's probably best linebacker there.
And you've got Campbell obviously at the Alabam who's going
to show up with Then I think it drops off.
You might not see the guy go to the third
rounds and mine your prototypical linebacker. Does it feel great?

(23:46):
And I think even at corner it's not near as
a strong corner draft in the early parts of this draft,
as it has been in the years before. So I
feel like those two positions to me feel fairly weak.
On the defensive. Having tight end, I think you've got
the two guys Tyler, Warren and Loveland are going to
go fast, and then you're not gonna see them the
tight ends come off the board. I don't think you

(24:07):
tail the third round.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
So interesting, right, because it feels like there should be
a run on tight ends, that they should those guys
should just be created every year, and you look at
how important they are. And yet I've seen the same
thing in the in the draft boards. Mark Dominic's our guest,
of course, you spent years is working his way up
in the front office and then ultimately becoming the GM
of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He joins this weekly here
in the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. Help

(24:32):
us all out. So you're putting together your own draft plan.
How much of other people's draft plans play a factor
into what your draft board looks like?

Speaker 6 (24:43):
Yeah, I mean I think you know, as as you
kind of get everything settled and set up, you're certainly
looking you're only you you do mock out. I mean
you do mock drafts, and I mean you've got to
do that to be prepared not just for your first
round pick, but through your second round pick. So you're
certainly setting your own prime or internal board in an
organization of how you think things will play out, whether

(25:04):
that's talking to agents, whether that's talking to certainly too,
you know, media people that you know that might be
connected in somewhere or another. But you're trying to kind
and you're looking around, you know the guys that the
people that you see have been more consistent in their
information or One of the things I used to do
Doug is like I knew that, you know back at
the time that this reporter you know, really has a

(25:26):
good relationship with this team. I'm going to trust when
he puts whatever that is out there that that's probably
more leaning towards what it is. A good example that
would be like I knew Todd McShee was really closer
to Baltimore Ravens, and so when Todd mcshage and tell
me what he thought the Raves was doing, I was like,
I'm going to go with Todd over email over you know,
whoever else is putting out all those draft onoms because

(25:47):
I know that relationship is real, and so I would
use that to kind of mock things to get ready
for you know that round two is it's going to
be a lot smoother for us, and we're not going
to be surprised for you know, do I want to
go move up to the bottom of a round one
because I realize what's going to happen here at this board.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
That's that's amazing. Yeah, it's there are you, everyone knows
who's connected with who, and those are the those are
the teams you pay attention to, and that it's it's
almost like a crossword puzzle, right like who if I
have this word here, I know how that I can
fill out this word here?

Speaker 6 (26:19):
Mm hmm. I think it's a great way to say
if you're a cross from puddle is an absolutely really
good analogy of the way we're trying to look at
it to kind of make sure, you know, how can
we figure out what's going to happen before it happens.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
When you draft a guy, obviously there's always a scout
that has like this is his guy, this, this is
his guy. Uh, do you ever get to a place
where you take a guy in the late rounds and
you've seen him a little bit, but it's really just
trusting your scout's word on a guy.

Speaker 6 (26:50):
Yeah, I've done I've done it both ways. I've done
it where I like the guy, the scout had certain convictions.
It just is like, yeah, I love this guy. And
I've also had a scout talking to me out of
a player whereas like it's just not going to be
a good fit. And you know that was that was
a bad one. It was Josh Norman and so he
had a pretty much career, but we were going to
take him, and then the scout was like, now it's

(27:12):
not your type of guys. You're going to get back that.
Let's go with somebody else. And you know, sometimes it
runs both ways. It's not always just a good one.
It is the whole teams. You know, because so many
people look at as the head coach at the final
state that is the GM. Look, the reality is you've
got to come to agreement. I've been in the draft
room before where I saw the head coach had a
different opinions than the general manager and the players were

(27:34):
taken and both players failed because of it, and that's
just a bad spot to be so in the end,
you're trying to come up with a chemative pick for
the whole organization. If it becomes so polarizing, I usually
took that guy out of contention because it just didn't
make sense to walk a young players to the buildings
where maybe the Skuy's staff thinking the bust or the
coaching staff aren't cided to coaching. What good is that

(27:55):
for anybody?

Speaker 2 (27:56):
All Right, next week we'll get to some more draft stories.
The meantime, Mark just a great resource for us. We
appreciate you, joy us look forward to talking you up
coming to that draft.

Speaker 6 (28:05):
That great good job talk.

Speaker 4 (28:07):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
It's a Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. You know,
I don't know if you guys saw this. There's a
first time they've ever had these concerts at mild Monern
Oklhoma State. It's called The Boys Schmoke Oklahoma. It's a
lot of red dirt music. Cross Canadian Ragweed has reunited
for it. They had a sold out concert last night.
It's like all through the weekend, and it's interesting. I

(28:38):
don't know how to feel about it, Like, I don't
know what bands you guys follow around when you were
in college. This band called The Great Divide. I used
to go to all their shows, and they're part of
this music series. They'll also go down to Waco and play.
I think they're playing a couple of shows at McLean Stadium,
which is where Baylor calls home. But you know it's

(28:58):
interesting about it to me is it's like, hey, these
guys used to go and do like small college venues
and outdoor country fest and now like it's they they've
crosstrating and Radgreeg was a little bigger, but now after
breaking up, bringing back and you're putting like sixty thousand

(29:19):
people in a venue for them. I don't know how
to feel about it. It's like, hey, there wasn't sixty
thousand people following these guys around when we were in college.
I was at day one, That's what I feel like.
I was at day one and everybody else's interlopers. Jay Stu,
who's your bands you used to follow around when you
were in college?

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Bands in college? I don't know if this qualifies, but
social Distortion was an Orange County band. Remember them playing
on campus? They had a couple good songs, right, do
you remember that band's social distortion. I've heard the name
punk Ide early nineties, but yeah, I think that was

(29:59):
about that. I didn't really follow any bands around. I'm
not that guy. No, I don't. I don't even know
if I know the Great Divide.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
What.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
No, that's that's like red dirt music. You definitely don't
know the Great Oh okay, no, that's not not your jam.
What about you there, Sammy? Is there bands you followed around?

Speaker 5 (30:19):
I don't know if there are a ton of bands
wandering around Iowa, maybe Iowa City, like local we have
like local festivals and stuff.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
Not so much.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
I mean I saw I remember seeing Tool in college
in two thousand and eight. That was cool, but they
were doing you know, like a national tour.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Tools awesome DU's favorite.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
Yeah, they were great.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
It was awesome. But like you know, the music scene
II City is pretty good. But individual bands to tell you,
I don't think I have any Okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
What about you months any any bands you follow around?

Speaker 8 (30:48):
Like you know, I don't know about college, but like
in maybe high school, I remember like Good Charlotte or like.

Speaker 9 (30:56):
Simple Plan And I've never seen them.

Speaker 8 (30:59):
I don't I don't think they could fill out a
venue like that like Blink twin eighty two, but they're
they were pretty big in mainstream. Yeah, and so like
I've recently watched their concert and they can, you know,
fill up a giant stadium, which is crazy.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
Yeah, are they back touring? Is they are they doing something?

Speaker 8 (31:18):
They were touring like a year ago, so I wonder
if they're still But yeah, they they were just touring
and like Lincoln Park.

Speaker 9 (31:24):
But you know, they have a new female singer and
so they're trying to like do a comeback.

Speaker 5 (31:28):
But they were also so big saw little herts she's
not bad, yeah if she's Chester Bennington, but she can
carry the tune.

Speaker 9 (31:35):
Yeah, I don't, I don't mind it.

Speaker 2 (31:38):
Okay, let's get to.

Speaker 8 (31:40):
The press or game time.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
This is game time.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
The game is when Moncey's here, because Moncey is the
one who loves this game.

Speaker 9 (31:53):
So it's like we like it, it's fun, it's fun.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
What are we playing? Sam is see all right?

Speaker 9 (32:00):
Oh yes, thank you.

Speaker 8 (32:01):
So you're just gonna tell us, coach if these people
are I exactly exactly.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
All right, all right, I always feel compelled to do this.
By the way, we ripped this off from Antonio Brown. Yes,
I heard him doing this bit and I think it's
so hilarious so I wanted to steal it. So thank
you Antonio Brown.

Speaker 8 (32:20):
Yes, thank you, and thank you for your social media
presence because it's hilarious Antonio Brown.

Speaker 9 (32:25):
All right, let's start with Grizzly star Ja Morant coach.

Speaker 4 (32:30):
Is he all right?

Speaker 2 (32:33):
Why? Because he's doing yet another new celebration. It just
like doesn't get it.

Speaker 5 (32:37):
Yeah, it's just defiant.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
I don't know what it is.

Speaker 9 (32:40):
I have no idea what he's thinking.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Uh, he's like he's like a kid. That's what kids
are like. Kids like defiant just to be defiant.

Speaker 9 (32:52):
Right, Hey, dude, do you.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Have to do any celebration will you make as a
repoint shot forget about whether or not it's a grenade
now instead of a instead of.

Speaker 9 (33:00):
A pointy your fingers. Yeah, yeah, I mean I hear you.

Speaker 8 (33:06):
It is very childish, but also like I feel like
a child. You're like, hey, I'm gonna give you five
bucks if you stop doing this. The child will be like, yeah,
five bucks.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
Maybe the NBA should be paying job then they but
instead of finding him to the opposite pay him.

Speaker 9 (33:19):
For he's making millions of dollars at the people. Don't
do this, don't do it.

Speaker 7 (33:25):
So he.

Speaker 9 (33:28):
Oh, was that your answer, Doug, No, he's not right.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
He is not.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
I yeah, he is not all right?

Speaker 9 (33:37):
All right, No he's not.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
It's like his celebrations always have to until people on
the other end dying or so.

Speaker 9 (33:45):
It's yeah, like it really just makes no sense.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
You should do a celebration of people eating McDonald's or something.

Speaker 8 (33:52):
Yeah, there's so many other things we can be doing.
All right, let's move on here. Coach to another coach,
Danny Hurley.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
Yeah, is he all right?

Speaker 6 (34:01):
Why?

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Because the Nuggets are going to make him a prime
target for the for the job.

Speaker 9 (34:07):
Yeah, maybe he's not gonna leave. He's maybe.

Speaker 8 (34:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
I don't think it's crazy that he would leave, even.

Speaker 9 (34:13):
Though the whole thing with the Lakers.

Speaker 8 (34:15):
Remember like in the off season, what about the whole
thing with that he was talking to the Lakers, and
some people are saying that that wasn't that, that wasn't
really he wasn't really doing that, that he was doing
that to get you know, a better pay from Yukon.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
We already had a new contract, and yeah, it's probably
made better. I mean again, should he have taken the
Laker job?

Speaker 3 (34:35):
No? Oh, I disagree with you looking back, looking back, Yeah, back.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
In hindsight, of course he should have. I mean, you
wouldn't have known they were going to get Luka Donche.

Speaker 8 (34:43):
Well yeah, see, I guess with Luca, you take the
job if you know that. But I think, yeah, I mean,
I just I have I have feeling. I don't know
if Luca's going to say a Laker.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
Were taking I don't know, but I don't he doesn't.

Speaker 9 (34:57):
If you don't like La and you were put in
La at least tough.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Place to live, How is LA a tough place to
live when you're making fifty million dollars a year.

Speaker 9 (35:04):
Traffic, homelessness people like it's now.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
Homelessness doesn't affect you when you're making fifty million dollars
a year?

Speaker 8 (35:10):
No, no, no, it does.

Speaker 9 (35:11):
Right, you're going through downtown.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
What's he going through downtown for to get to practice?

Speaker 9 (35:16):
To get to the game.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
Practice is not in downtown, babe, to the game. No,
you're like, you're not like stopping and again, I'm your
view of la very accurate as a native Los Angelino. Yes, okay,
that's not Luca's gonna live by the beach.

Speaker 9 (35:37):
Traffic is really gonna suck for him to get to
the game again.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
And if he doesn't like the traffic, he'll just have
a car service, has somebody driving for him. Like these
are first world problems, the first world problems. He's not
leaving the Lakers. The question is, all right, if Dannie
early Kid go back, would he take the Laker job?
And I think the answer is probably yes.

Speaker 9 (35:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Now if you can give me Nikola Jokic by gonna
have Argua with the best player in basketball. Yeah, and
you know it's owned by the Cronkys. The Cronky's are
part of the Walmart family.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
You have.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
There's there's no limit how much money they can spend. Yeah,
of course you Yeah, he's all right, he's fine. He
can stay a stay at Yukon or take the nugget shot.
These are first world good problems to have.

Speaker 9 (36:19):
I mean, you're not wrong, You're not wrong, all right, quickly,
Coach tyreek Kill.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
Is all right? Not all right, no, not at all.
How many times have all of our homes combined been
called for domestic for on a domestic dispute. Zero for me, correct,
all of us are combined.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Zero yeah, combined?

Speaker 5 (36:41):
Zero No, I'm kicking.

Speaker 9 (36:43):
Yeah zero zero yeah.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Okay, but people, it happens.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
It's part of life.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
It does happen. It happens them far too often.

Speaker 9 (36:49):
Far, far too often. So yeah not And that's game time.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
Get out there impressed.

Speaker 4 (36:56):
That is game time on the Gottlieb Show.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
We'll get to your master's update.
