there an unmeatch selection, fast free shipping, free road has
a protection and over ten thousand recommended in sollers Tirec
dot Com The way tire buying should be. You ever
hear the phrase a day late and the dollars shorts?
Ryan Hollins, how many times? Yes? I feel like it
happened to me. And I mentioned earlier that I was
traveling on Sunday nights, so I did not see the
(01:00):
roast of Tom Brady, and we'll try to figure out
a way to catch it when my three year old
isn't in the living room and hearing all of the words.
By the way, I thought it was gonna be our
hour and twenty minutes. I turned that thing on and
it said three hours and four minutes, and I'm like,
my goodness, how long is this thing? But the reason
(01:22):
I bring that up is because on Sunday night, as
I was traveling back to southern California, I was thinking
to myself, and I knew that you and I were
going to be teaming up on today's show, and I
kind of just started to think of, like, what are
some stuff that we can we can dive into? And
I thought to myself, you know, Lebron James is always
(01:43):
a topic of conversation, and maybe it's time for Lebron
James to maybe just hang it up, maybe just yet,
maybe just just call it quits. And this was on Sunday.
I'm not not trying to be that guy, but it's
going to sound like that guy. Lo and Behold. Yesterday,
as I'm home celebrating my anniversary with my wife, I
(02:05):
see on the TV. Kendrick Perkins, Lebron should retire. Okay,
So a former NBA player goes on ESPN and says
the same exact thing that I was thinking as I
was flying over the Rocky Mountains on Sunday night, the
same exact thing, but for completely different reasons. Kendrick Perkins
(02:26):
feels that Lebron James should retire because of the ongoing
drama he feels hurts Lebron's argument of being the greatest
of all time. That the more and more that Lebron
drags this out ends up changing head coaches, maybe losing
in the first round of the playoffs or last year
(02:48):
in the Western Conference finals and not getting back to
the finals. The more and more this stuff goes on,
the more it hurts his case of being the greatest
of all time. I don't agree with that at all.
I think that I think in ten years from now, Ryan,
we're gonna look back and we're gonna be like, holy smokes,
Lebron James, like no one's gonna match what he was
(03:09):
able to do. And I just think that that's what
happens when when time, you know, as time passes, we're
gonna get to the point where Lebron isn't in our
forefront every single day, and we'll be able to appreciate
it more and have more of a of a real
understanding of what he actually accomplished. But there is no
doubt in my mind right now that Lebron is taking
(03:30):
the air out of absolutely everything in the NBA. And
that is my reason for it is I just feel
that there is this continuation of Lebron Lebron Lebron, and
even the greatness of the NBA can't fully sprout and
bloom and grow because of the ongoing dark cloud of
(03:52):
what is Lebron gonna do, Who's gonna be his coach,
Where's he gonna play? Are they gonna draft Bronny James? Like,
there are so many things that are going on that
I just don't feel the Timberwolves, uh Dallas in Oklahoma City,
however that ends up playing out, All of these stories
end up always getting dwarfed by the Lakers and Lebron James.
(04:14):
And I just wonder if Lebron stepped away, if more
of the NBA would actually be able to grow.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Dan's got it.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
That's gotta be one of the most backwards contradictory reasons
that I've ever heard in my life. Dan, Why, here's
the reason why it's backwards in contradictory, he's so popular,
he should walk away, like like like he's such he's
so you're saying that he's such a dominant figure he
(04:40):
should walk away. No, that's time for somebody else to
step up. You got it or you don't. If somebody
else is not being talked about, that's not Lebron's fault.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
You can't.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
We can't pit every Lebron's responsible for a lot of stuff.
He can't be responsible for that. So I'm gonna give
you an example. When Michael Jordan was getting all and
Kobe Bryant came into the league.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
It wasn't like Michael needs a retorier so we could
talk about Kobe Bryant, Moore. No, Kobe Bryant made a name.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
For himself in Los Angeles and everybody put respect on
his name. Okay, Well, Lebron James stepped on the stage, okay,
in Cleveland, and Kobe Bryant was very much in the
league and very much known it very much who Kobe is.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Lebron was still Lebron.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
So I understand, Hey, you know what you don't want
to see Lebron come out this next year.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
We all understand it, but it's just a part.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Of it, okay, because there's that foolish, boyish mentality where
you don't know any better. Okay. And for those who
don't remember, this is the honest to god truth. Kobe
Bryant ended his career like a movie sixty points on
the Utah Jazz.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
It was unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
But before that, I mean that was in four or
five years where just Kobe was there with a bunch
of young guys that it wasn't fitting and he was
frustrated and none of it felt right, none of it
felt right. But those guys are they are because they
don't just walk away on a note like that. Now
here's the big problem, and Dan, I want, I want
to know if you agree with this when we talk
(06:08):
about Lebron. Here's the big.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Problem with with Lebron.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
He's good enough to not take that step back, So
maybe that's the angle that you're going with. But he's
not young enough to where he can just go and
take over series the way that he used to. And
I think, and I believe in my heart that's the
biggest conflict with Lebron in the Laker, he's not he's
not young enough and he ain't taking no pay cut either.
(06:34):
So Tim Duncan when he got older, he took that
pay cut. Kobe Bryant didn't want to take.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
The pay cut.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
So now it's hard if you want.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
To get that third star, if you want to get
those assortment of guys in between, to really really put
the talent around Lebron, put the guys around Lebron. You look,
here's Anthony Davis. It's like Anthony Davis hasn't taken that
torch yet. I think Lebron you know, at least it
seems like he want Anthony Davis to do it.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Yeah, I don't know if he does, And that's part
of that's I think that's part of the issue as well.
And I think your I think your analysis is actually
really good and I actually agree with that sort of thinking.
And then it goes to the thinking of Okay, if
you're not competing for titles, then what is the point
of playing. Is it just to team up with Bronny?
(07:18):
Is that the point of it?
Speaker 4 (07:19):
Just a little bit, Yeah, then I think that as
you spur on the goat debate, and that man plays
with his son or sons in the NBA. That's, in
my opinion, that's a notch in the goat debate. Okay,
that's pretty darn impressive. And then if you could play
at a high level. Now, let me hold on you.
(07:41):
You can't just lost by that big fellow. Hold on
Dan Well, you said you don't think Lebron James wants
Anthony Davis to take over as the guy in LA.
That's you got to clarify that, man. You can't just
leave that out there.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
I think it's very difficult for Lebron to pass a torch.
I just think it is. It is, It is very difficult.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
What makes you say that? What makes you confidence saying that?
I want to hear I want to hear it.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
I just don't think that he differs. Like there are
times where they tried to even bring in players who
would maybe have the ball more in their hands, and
in the end it it doesn't work because Lebron they.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Were they good enough?
Speaker 4 (08:17):
And I'm not said shooting down, I'm just asking were
they good enough? Were there's someone that was just bulling
and then Lebron was like, nah me give me the ball.
A little more now he and Kyleie was closer to
his prime. We can argue maybe when he and Kyrie
didn't work out at the time, but keep him on.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Kyrie want to come home now?
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Sure Kyrie was a mess before he went back to Cleveland.
Cavs were a mess. Yes, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
But what I'm saying is who who are we talking
about that is worthy? And we can say kai was
the most worthy, But who we talking about that is worthy?
Speaker 2 (08:47):
It's it's it. Let me let me phrase it this
way because this is this is an analogy, and I'll
try to answer the question, but this is where I
think Lebron is in this career. Did you ever watch
The Office? You ever watch the TV show The Office? Yes,
the last yeah it was. But when Steve Krall left,
(09:08):
you tried to bring in other guys, You brought in
different characters, You try to have other guys play different roles,
and it was still the Office, right, Like That's how
I feel like Lebron's career is like we're at the
end of those Office seasons where you're trying to you're
trying to do anything. We're trying to find a head coach,
and what we're using is all right, does someone have
(09:29):
to have championship pedigree? What about top assistant somewhere? What
about top assistant with previous head coaching? Like there's this
cookie cutter realization. There's probably only two people that can
coach Lebron James, maybe three. Tyler could be one of them,
but it's Eric Spolstra and probably pat Riley like that,
that's where the list is, and pat Riley's week may
(09:51):
not be conducive to that ever happening. The point is,
I think there's an impossible search. No matter what the
Lakers do for a head coach, it's probably not going
to work. It just it probably won't. And now when
you look at what the Timberwolves and Anthony Edwards are doing,
what Jalen Brunton is doing with the Knicks at this point,
and what could happen with the Thunder and MAVs with
(10:13):
Luca and Kyrie, Like I just I feel Heck, today
it's leading one of the hours of our show because
we're talking about Lebron James and whoever the next head
coach of the Lakers will be when he is out
of the league. I think it allows everybody else to bloom,
even more, their pedals get to spread a little bit more.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
And as you're disgusting, Dan, I've never I've never listen.
I love you, Dan, you know I'm never been more
disgusted by.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
You right now. Disgust is a pretty disgusted.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Gus is a pretty big you know, it's a word.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
But Dan, you are an apologist for the rest of
the NBA players.
Speaker 3 (10:49):
You're an apologist right now.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
I never thought of mention Kobe. Okay, Jordan was out
of the league for three years. He didn't return until
Kobe had already won back to titles, So there wasn't
like the emergence of Kobe through that spot, like there
was Kobe's last title in twenty ten. Lebron ends up
winning his first in twenty twelve. Maybe maybe it took
(11:15):
Kobe moving out, you know, and whittling down his career
going through those injuries for Lebron to maybe flourished. Maybe
it's just the Big Three. The point is is he
has such an enormous shadow, and I woult to claim
that Lebron's bigger than Kobe, like like truly.
Speaker 3 (11:31):
Oh whoa, Dan, you don't some hot lava right now?
I'm sure that the phone lfs are probably lighting up.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Am I am I wrong? Does anybody here as I
look through the glass here? I I Jason Stewart, Isaac
Glohncrown Iowa. Sam. Lebron is a bigger entity than Kobe
in his NBA career and.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
You are are you? Are you hit studio?
Speaker 2 (11:55):
Kobe is not in the goat debate.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
I agree with that. I agree with that. Ron, as
you know I did. I did local radio. So it's
really easy to get beholden here in this market. That
kolbe Bryant was a huge deal and he was here.
But Lebron, I think worldwide, in nationwide. I hate to
say it, but I agree too.
Speaker 6 (12:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
So I just can't believe you guys are a studio
saying this. And I'm not trying to fight this and
argue this. You know, I like Lebron, but but Dan,
I mean, are you are firing off right now?
Speaker 3 (12:22):
I mean, well, I don't even know where in the
first hour?
Speaker 2 (12:25):
How about this? How about this, Ryan Hollins, If we
were to look at the best case scenario for Lebron James,
for Lebron James best case scenario coming back next year,
they find a head coach and they win an NBA title. Right,
Do we look at that as man look at what
Lebron did? Do we look at that as like we
(12:47):
look at the last go around of the Golden State Warriors,
or do we just have all right, it's about time
Lebron finally got his real championship with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
I think you answered your own question earlier.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
You said it's impossible, and especially in today's day and era,
to appreciate what you have while it's there. Dan, I
don't think you appreciate me. I mean, you know that
that seven footer was something else. Man, I like that
guy like you are not gonna appreciate that man while
(13:20):
he's there.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
And I hear you talking about both sides. Are you're
behind right now? And this is not like you? This
is you. You are an apologist.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
You're an apologist for the rest of the stars in
the NBA right now.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
It is it is, it's time like the growth of
what you could get or anything extra. I don't think
it's hurting his legacy. I just think that the gains
are are minimal. They they are minimal, and all it
is is just adding more, you know, angst more of
more of a more of a strain. The new coach
(13:57):
that comes like Darvin Ham's. Who knows if Darvin Ham's
ever gonna be a head coach in the NBA again,
who knows. But this is a team that wins an
end season tournament and now we're thinking, hey, look at this,
look at what could be turning around. And at the
end of the year he's out. And I'm not saying
that Darvin Ham does or doesn't deserve an opportunity, but
you have now been marked with the didn't win with
(14:17):
lebron stature and a status. And Frank Vogel's got his
own issues right now in Phoenix with what they're doing.
He found work. Maybe Darvin Ham will. I just feel
that Lebron's gains of what he could gain for winning
again and doing what he's done minimal. I think that
(14:38):
that fourth championship for the Warriors and coming back and
winning in twenty twenty two after everyone had their injuries,
after Kevin Durant had left, was that was Jack Nicholas
in eighty six at the Masters, That was Tiger Woods
at the Masters in twenty nineteen. That is your last hurrah.
The juice is out of the orange. That's it. And
I just don't think you're going to get that sort
of reviv vialization, sort of rejuvenation of Lebron or the
(15:03):
Lakers if they were to win it again. I don't
think that it adds to it would help to add
to I guess his goat argument, But I don't think
that we would all fall in love with Lebron in
this fairy tale run to the NBA Finals because we've
been so exhausted from him over the previous five years.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
Dan, let me let me ask you, son, because you
have a short memory. And I never thought a guy
who did a recall during the show would have a
short memory.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Did it?
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Did?
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Pull it back one of his takes. There was a
point in time when when the NBA Finals was was
just Cleveland and Golden State, Right, Lebron versus Curry and
the Warriors?
Speaker 3 (15:39):
Right?
Speaker 4 (15:39):
And what did everybody wait, wait, wait, wait, wit everybody's screaming,
do Dan, what do they say? We're tired of what?
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Sick of it, sick of it, sick of sin, the
same thing.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
And Dan, you have your nerve on the other.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
End to now say you don't want to see parody
in the NBA. I mean, for God's sakes, the Minnesota
Timberwolves are now favored.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
We watch, I don't think we're actually appreciating what they're
doing right now because of we have our thoughts on
who's going to be the next head coach of the Lakers.
I think for about you know, for the game last night,
there will be more talk about Lebron and the Lakers
this week because of the gap between games two and
three with Denver and Minnesota, then there will be about
(16:20):
Denver or Minnesota. That's just the fact, because he just
carries so much weight, you know. Let's ask our next guest,
former NBA or Antonio Daniels Sirius xmmba radio host analysts
for the New Orleans Pelicans. He'll join us. He got
a first hand to look at the Oklahoma City Thunder
who opened their series of the Dallas Mavericks tonight. He'll
join us next as we are live from the TIREC
(16:42):
dot Com studios. If you side with Hollins, tell them
about it at Lee Ryan Hollins. If you side with me,
tell me about it, hit me up at Dan Byron Fox.
Or if you disagree with us, he can hit us
up both ways as well.
Speaker 6 (16:53):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Fox Sports
Radio dot Com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR

Speaker 2 (17:07):
To gollib Show on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Dan Byer,
He's Ryan Hollins, a ten year NBA VET as we're
a live from the Tireq dot com studios. In fact,
as we bring in our next guest, we almost have
a quarter century of NBA experience. I contribute absolutely zero
to that number. You can hear them as the Pelicans
color analysts and also on Sirius XM NBA Radio. Antonio
(17:28):
Daniels joins the program, Antonio, Happy Tuesday. Do you want
to get in the middle of this beef that Ryan
Hollins that I have right now about Lebron James? Are
you willing to dive in and give us your thoughts?
Speaker 7 (17:39):
Oh? I already know where this is going. First, foremost,
what's up fallons, Ryan Hollins, what's up?
Speaker 8 (17:44):
Brother?
Speaker 3 (17:45):
A D? What's up? A fun fact? Me and A D.
We're teammates with people don't know we were teammates.
Speaker 8 (17:51):
Man. About twenty four hours.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Where did a cross paths where did these lines intersect?
Speaker 4 (18:00):
How about you guess we've been talking about this team
and you're very fond of.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
Him right now?
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Uh Minnesota mines there? All right, all right, thanks to
the Thanks for the hint. This is where Ryan Hollins
and I he turns heel on me or he becomes
my enemy. This is on the fields of you know,
Kendrick Perkins brought up yesterday that he thought Lebron should
retire because it's hurting his goat argument. I actually feel
(18:25):
the same way, but for a different reason. I think
Lebron should retire because I just think he still takes
up so much air in the room in the NBA.
Where are you and Lebron James? And where his future
should be playing or not playing in the league?
Speaker 7 (18:39):
Listen, man, when is the last time we told a
guy average in twenty eight points a game he should retire?
Speaker 2 (18:44):
I never, I know, We've never done that.
Speaker 8 (18:47):
No, No, And here's the thing. I tell you.
Speaker 7 (18:49):
I'm not a big fan of the goat debate as
a whole, but it's almost like there is no criteria,
so people who are making up criteria as it goes along.
So it was like, if it's not one thing, then
it's something else.
Speaker 8 (19:02):
When has it ever been an issue?
Speaker 7 (19:04):
Then how many coaches that a guy plays for comes
into count when you're talking about the Goat conversation. The
difference in the Golt conversation, though, if we actually want
to take it, there, is the fact that Lebron has
never played for an ur time great coach. You think
of everybody that's in the Goat conversation, whoever we want
to put in there. You know, I don't care who.
Speaker 8 (19:24):
You want to put in there.
Speaker 7 (19:25):
You can put Kareem in there, you can put mj
in there, you can put Kobe in there, you can
put Shack in there, you can put Magic, you can
put Tim Duncan you know all those guys have in common.
They all play for an all time great coach.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Lebron has not what okay, what does Lebron have to gain?
Speaker 3 (19:44):
That is?
Speaker 2 (19:46):
I don't think it tarnishes his legacy at all. And
I'm not even worried about the Goat campaign internally. Here's
my reason why I kind of wish you would step
away is because you have Minnesota. What's that your wishing, Dad,
I'm just saying Minnesota. Last night, Anthony Edwards you know,
taking care of the Nuggets. There's an opportunity for stardom.
(20:07):
Jalen Brunt's in four straight forty point games, all of this,
but somehow in the mix, we always end up talking
about Lebron and who's the next coach of the Lakers.
Speaker 8 (20:15):
That's on the media.
Speaker 7 (20:17):
That's on the media.
Speaker 8 (20:17):
That's not on Lebron. It's what your choosing.
Speaker 7 (20:20):
Again, life is about perspective and what you're choosing to
focus on. You just reference Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves
and what they're doing right now to the Denver Nuggets.
If you choose to talk about Lebron, that's on you,
as opposed to choosing to talking about Ethne Edwards and
what they're doing to the Denver Nuggets. Like this is
new for me.
Speaker 8 (20:41):
This is new for me. I've heard a lot of
different and had a.
Speaker 7 (20:44):
Lot of different conversations and debates about Lebron James.
Speaker 8 (20:47):
I have never.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
Heard someone say that Lebron Zams should retire because he's
taking up so much air in the room. You're welcome
that the media has put him in.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
That's why you come on Fox Sports Radio. Antonio Daniels,
I just hey, I say, the office was great, but
when Steve Carroll left and they started to bring everybody
else in, it just wasn't the same anymore. It's time
to move on. I kind of feel that way with Lebron.
It's too much drama and.
Speaker 7 (21:14):
This is so that's a question I would ask, though,
what stopping you got from moving on?
Speaker 2 (21:20):
Well, you know, we did start the show with the Timberwolves.
We did, But.
Speaker 8 (21:25):
But again again, what stepping you got from moving on?
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Yeah? Fair enough, fair enough a d This.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
Is one of the grossest things I've ever heard from
Dan Bayer, and he contradicted himself by by talking about
how much respect he had from Lebron and this and that,
and this is my take really quick. I said, when
Lebron came into the league, we still had Kobe Bryant,
we still had a lot of names, but his his
light was so bright that we had to put respect
(21:54):
on his name. And we're talking about the next up
and coming star. A lot of people are saying and
as Anthony Edwards, do you feel this ad or are
there other names should be in the mix?
Speaker 3 (22:05):
And why?
Speaker 7 (22:07):
Well, I mean, right now, I think we are in
the process of the torchs being passed. And that's cool
because that's life. It's the evolution of life. It's a
circle of life, the evolution. I mean, the torch is
being passed. There's no Lebron, there's no kd there's no Staff,
there's no Kawahi. You think about, oh, there's no Anthony Davis,
(22:29):
all these guys, but you look who is still playing,
right You look at Sey Gibseph Alexander.
Speaker 8 (22:34):
And you look at Luca and you look at.
Speaker 7 (22:36):
Anthony Edwards and some of Jalen Brunson, these young stars
right now, Teres Halliburton that are taking the league over.
Speaker 8 (22:43):
There's nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 7 (22:44):
Because this is the evolution of the sport of basketball.
I don't have an issue with it. I don't have
an issue with it. I think it's a lot of
guys that you can throw in there. For me, I
feel like the San Antonios first will have the best
player in.
Speaker 8 (22:56):
The world in two years.
Speaker 7 (22:57):
So yeah, we can sit there and talk about Ann
Edwards and out great Fony Edwards is, But this man
down here in San Antonio that just won unanimous Rookie
of the Year. There's no one else I would rather
have for the president and the foreseeable future than Victor
women Yama.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
And I'm not trolling Antonio Daniels joining us here at
Fox Sports Radio. He's Ryan Hollins. I'm Dan Byer, And
I know Hollins is saying Danny's trolling here, but it
is a true question. Can Anthony Davis truly flourish? Can
he truly be the Lakers guy? When Lebron is always
there like that? Can that actually happen? Can it?
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Tors? What you said? No? No, tell her what you said?
Speaker 4 (23:35):
I said, you said, Lebron doesn't want Anthony Davis to
be a guy, And I said he's he's.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Gardner fist Ford.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
No, he is forty, I said.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
He said, you want to keep up?
Speaker 2 (23:44):
He's unable to pass the torch.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
He said, he doesn't want to dance.
Speaker 7 (23:48):
Okay, So here's the question I would ask, ellis here's
the question I would ask to combat your questions. You said,
is Lebron's names he's unwilling to pass the torch? Is
he passing the torch to someone that you can say
on your side that is reliable and available enough to
accept that torch and run with it.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Well, well, the Lakers feel so they just signed.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
They did.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
They did, so there so there, there obviously is a
plan where the Lakers believe in Anthony Davis. I'm just
saying that because of who Lebron is. It's just he's
never going to be able to be like, all right,
it's your time because he's Lebron James, and there's you
know that it's a gift and a curse with it,
and that's I agree with that.
Speaker 7 (24:31):
I do agree with that, just like i'd see the
conversation now, I thought you guys were having you guys
took me in a completely different direction. I thought the
conversation was steering more toward the coaching debate, right about
the coach ingion and is it hard to coach Lebron
and all these that sid Darvinham had been fired and
all these other kind of things, like I don't know.
Speaker 8 (24:52):
What fne Davis is that guy?
Speaker 7 (24:54):
Are you comfortable and confident saying Ethney Davis is for
sure that guy moving forward for the Lakers?
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Damn by Lebron won't let him be that.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
That's how gross Dan Biers, god man, I don't know,
you're honest this fourished.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
I would have questions as well. I would have doubts
because of his health, Yes, why.
Speaker 7 (25:12):
Can we if you have questions, why do you bring
Lebron for haveing questions? That's why I ask the question
because if you can confidently say, you know what, if
I was in Lebron's case, I.
Speaker 8 (25:22):
Would believe in Anthony Davis.
Speaker 7 (25:23):
He has showed me the toughness, the mental, physical toughness,
and availability to be written, to be ready to take
this helm.
Speaker 8 (25:30):
I get it.
Speaker 7 (25:31):
But if you can say on your hand, Dan, well
you know what.
Speaker 8 (25:35):
I would have questions about Anthony Davis too, And how
can you fault Lebron for having no same questions?
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Because I don't feel it feel that Lebron that the
Lakers are in Lebron's best interest like it's not because
it's always about Lebron. I feel the Lakers DA organization, Dave,
because they're about to draft Browny James on the second
round pick, and he's probably a talented day playing all.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
What player is like, man, let me make sure this
organization makes me. No, the organizations don't do what's best
for them, and the player don't do his best for them.
And you hope you can meet in the middle free.
Speaker 8 (26:07):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 7 (26:08):
Though we have to understand.
Speaker 9 (26:10):
I feel like this says has to become a Lebron conversation,
and I feel like it's more of a Laker conversation.
Speaker 7 (26:18):
The Lakers are an organization to me that have unrealistic expectations.
They always go go go big game hunting, they always
go big a honey. They made issue, They made mistake
after mistake. Hiring Darbenham was a mistake because you don't
hire a rookie head coach and a championship or buff situation.
You don't do it because you couldn't succeed.
Speaker 8 (26:40):
But again, there's an organizational arrogance that.
Speaker 7 (26:43):
Comes along with the Lakers that people don't acknowledge. Remember
a couple of years ago when they won the championship,
they allowed Dwight Howard, Alice Caruso, Kyle Kuzma, all these
other guys to walk. KCP is now in Denver. They
allowed all these guys to walk. But no one wants
to point a finger at the Lakers because it's easy
to point the finger at Lebron. There's an organizational arrogance
(27:06):
that comes along with the Lakers that's not discussed enough.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
All Right, we'll leave the Lakers right there, because there's
a lot of NBA playoffs to talk about. I'm gotta
start with the Knicks because we haven't even touched the Knicks.
Can they keep it up? Can Jalen Bronson continue on
this run four straight forty point games and win the
series against Indiana? Is this sustainable for New York?
Speaker 7 (27:29):
I don't think. The thing is they haven't given us
a reason as to why it's not. My worry with
the Knicks incentives is the fact that they really only
play about six and a half guys. They don't go
deep into their bitch. You know, Mitchell Robinson will come
up the bench, Dude mcbride'll come up the bench, and
that's generally about where it stops. So when you start
(27:50):
to look at that, that becomes an issue. But again
is a totally different conversation. But I feel like they're
built for it because they have prepared themselves for this.
They have played this way all year, so it's not
like they're doing something different now than what they've done
throughout the entire course of the seasons.
Speaker 9 (28:11):
I think they can.
Speaker 8 (28:12):
I actually picked the Knicks and six.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
Ad Do you feel like the Nuggets are done? In
my opinion, they looked at the Timberwolves. They didn't think
the Timberwolves were that good. They didn't think they were
like that. But do you think that they're done?
Speaker 3 (28:26):
That's pig.
Speaker 7 (28:27):
I don't think that they're done.
Speaker 9 (28:29):
I don't think that they're done for me, Ryan, you
know what's always interesting about this time of.
Speaker 7 (28:34):
Year, it's how much the narratives change.
Speaker 9 (28:37):
They changed so quickly about individuals and about teams. I
don't know how many people calling into our serians at
tim show today.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
And said, oh, you know, a Denver hasn't been that
good of.
Speaker 8 (28:46):
A team all year long.
Speaker 7 (28:48):
Nikola Jokis is overrated after two games, after two games.
Speaker 8 (28:53):
And here's the thing.
Speaker 7 (28:54):
Sometimes, and you know this Ryan more than anyone, sometimes
it's simply about matchups.
Speaker 8 (29:00):
That's it. The Los Angeles Lakers last year, do they
make it to the Western Conference Finals?
Speaker 7 (29:05):
If Sacramento beats the Golden State Warriors. We know how
tup of the match up Sacramento is for the Lakers.
Do they make it there? You know, it's all about
who you see and when you see that particular team.
And people forget that last year when these two teams met,
there was no data McDaniels, Karl Anthony Tantels was coming
(29:26):
back off injury and there was no NASERI. So when
Timber ran through the Minnesota Timberwoods last year, what people
forget is that is not the same Minnesota Timberwills team
that you're looking at this year. But I will always
give the champions credit for being champions. I will always
do it.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Antonio Daniels joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, the
thirteen year NBA VET. You heard him. He's on Serious
XM NBA Radio. Also analyst for the New Orleans Pelicans.
The analys for the Houston Rockets is Ryan Hollins. He
joins me as we're in for Doug Gottlieb today live
from thee tiraq dot com studios. What about tonight and
specifically Oklahoma City Dallas? Is this just a matter of
(30:08):
SGA versus Luca Sga versus Luca Kyrie? How does this
play out as we get Game one of this dandy?
Speaker 9 (30:16):
I tell you, after watching and calling the four game
suite of the Oklahoma City Thunder North Pelicans, what I'm
watching and paying attention to more than anything else.
Speaker 7 (30:28):
Is how they allow loud doort to defend Luka Donjons.
Speaker 8 (30:33):
That's when I'm.
Speaker 7 (30:34):
Paying attention to more than anything else, because realistically, loud
sort manhandle, brandon Ingram manhandled, and then we know Ryan.
You know this, There's been a different whistle post All
Star Break, a completely different whistle.
Speaker 8 (30:51):
We saw it playing Step Out last night where Carnathon
Towns completely runs over.
Speaker 7 (30:59):
Jamal Murray is not even the whistle blow. So right now,
it's a completely different whistle. So I'm more interested than
anything to watch the lou Dort versus Luca dynamic because
I don't think lou.
Speaker 8 (31:12):
Dort will guard Kyrie Irving very much.
Speaker 7 (31:15):
But I picked Dallas. I picked Dallas in six because
right now, I honestly do feel like Luca and Kyrie
are the They're the most dangerous duo in the league
right now, and I felt this way coming into the playoffs.
So this isn't a this isn't a new thing. You know,
(31:35):
this is the way I have felt about the Dallas Mavericks.
You know, it's a backcourt driven league. This league is
driven by back courts, and the way that Luca and
Kyrie are playing right now. I have a difficult time
seeing them beaten.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Four times either way, it's going to be fun. The
second of two games tonight Celtics and cast to being
off at seven o'clock Eastern toime. That was fun. I
have never taken on two NBA plays at the same time.
It was like one on two, But that was that
was fun. What you bought that the same opinion. Thanks Antonio,
(32:11):
We'll talk to you later. You always bring it. Appreciate it,
appreciate it. All right, let's get over to Isaac Low
and Kron who gives us the latest got a life raft,
you know, life preserver.
Speaker 10 (32:22):
New new professional boxer Dan Bayer has just gone the
distance fifteen rounds with two.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
An NBA player, and it wasn't a criticism. You guys
were just on the same side of things that.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
Today. It's not you dude. You know, I don't know
who this is.
Speaker 10 (32:38):
I followed Ryan's career for a long long time and
in the pros in college I have He's usually very
even keeled on the cord. He handles pressure very very well.
I have never seen him or heard him as riled
up as I have in the last few moments. What
(32:58):
an antagonist.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Spice in your Tuesday?
Speaker 6 (33:02):
So who's it going to be?
Speaker 10 (33:03):
For you next, Dan, Mike Tyson Jakes, You're gonna fight
the winner.
Speaker 6 (33:10):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Doug
Gottlieb Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. He's Ryan Hollins,
the ten year NBA vet turned star broadcaster. You hear
him on, see him on the Houston Rockets television broadcast
is their color analysts. And here on Fox Sports Radio,
I'm Dan Byer. We are sitting in for Doug today.
Hit Ryan up at the Ryan Hollins you can find
me at Dan Byer on Fox. I want to get
your thoughts on Nixon, Pacers and so much more, plus
(33:44):
the two games tonight. But we now we bring in
Isaac Lowincron for so much more with the press.
Speaker 6 (33:51):
The press.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
What do you got Isaac?
Speaker 10 (33:54):
All Right, fellas, we start with Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick
Beverly apologizing on his podcast for twice throwing basketballs at
Indiana Pacers fans last week. However, Beverly also claimed the
trash talk at him crossed a line. Here he was
on the podcast.
Speaker 11 (34:11):
I'm here to set the record, Shoate, I was absolutely wrong,
and I need to be better than I will. We
layup line. I'm on a bench with the ball fan
to the right of me say something crazy. I get
up to him. I man, you can boo me. You can,
but don't call me that. I go shake with carlylet hand.
Fans say something crazy to me. I'm looking like man,
like you can say anything. It's don't be disrespectful. He
apologized to everyone who stepped out of line and said
(34:32):
something like too crazy. All of them apologized. It was
just some people who you know, just crossed the line
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
All right, I'm gonna defer to you as the former player.
Isn't there still just a line that can't be crossed
as your a player? Or Am I wrong on that?
Ryan Hollins, I.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
Feel like at this point Pat understands no matter what,
you can't react. I would have said what this person
said because this may change the conversation and get me wrong.
Past's definitely wrong what he did to that reporter. That's
that was the egregious.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Part going Come on, Pat, sure that brother, But she
didn't address in this apology this like you didn't address
the reporter party just addressed the fan interaction.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
What did the fans say at this point?
Speaker 4 (35:16):
I gotta know what the fan said if if it
was racial, I still don't think you react. But okay,
that that went over, Like what was it? Like, you
like tell us.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
What it was.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
I think he said Lebron should retire because he's taking
too much air out of the league. That's what I thought.
Just kidding, you wanted to throw basketball at me at
one point during that segment.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
No, I just like it was just gross because you
held on to it so long and then I know,
I know, but Dan, this is what we do as
as as radio guys when you know when you're holding
on to it. You asked the question to the guests,
but you try to answer it before and you're.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Like, got them, got them to that point. The Pacers
beat the Bucks in that series, and there is something
that Antonio Daniels, you know, when you asked them about
the Knicks and Pacers, I'd be ready to count out
the Knicks because of their lack of depth. But Indiana
just makes these mistakes, and I know some of some
of the calls last night didn't necessarily go their way.
(36:22):
I just am not there in trusting this Indiana team
just yet. And I don't know if the Knicks can
continue to to play as little guys as they do,
and they're gonna have to and continue to make the
plays that they do to win those games. But I
so I would, I would lean towards Indiana, But Indiana
just hasn't been there for me in a in a
real close situation to think that they're gonna do the
(36:45):
right thing.
Speaker 4 (36:45):
At this point, the Knicks are closing close games and
then the playoffs. More likely than not, you're gonna have
a very very tightly tight game and they've been able
to be successful there. That right now is gonna be
the difference in this series. Not that Indiana isn't that capable.
I think they're deeper or like Ad said, hey, they
(37:06):
are pushing it all right. They're already missing Julius Randall.
Don't forget that an injury away.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Absolutely you got more, Isaac.
Speaker 10 (37:12):
Yeah, I actually did a short time ago, get a
text from Ryan saying, Isaac, could you please throw a
basketball at Dan?
Speaker 2 (37:19):
I will pay her fine.
Speaker 10 (37:20):
Indianapolis sports journalist Bob Kravitz reporting that Indianapolis Star newspaper
columnists Greg Doyle is in the midst of serving a
two week suspension for that awkward exchange he had with
Caitlin Clark recently at her introductory news conference with the
Indiana Fever. That report has since been confirmed by Front
Office Sports.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
I didn't see a way that according to the to
Kravitz's report, you will not be covering the Fever for
their home games. And also if he does cover them,
it will be from home, from watching on TV or
writing columns. He's not the active beat writer, He's just
a columnist. But anything Fever wise will come from home.
I think that you could see that one coming from
(37:59):
moment that he wouldn't be around the team.
Speaker 5 (38:01):
Did Isaac confirm this or not? I heard that he
can't even get a fever, like he's not even allowed
to get confirmed.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
Let's start tomorrow. Go for Ryan Hollins as a low cron.
That's Jesson, Steve and I with Sam. I'm Dan Byers
to The Gottlieb Show on Fox
