(00:21):
you're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Boom Up America Doug
Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. The Part two of the

(00:44):
must win Game in the National Football League. Last week
we told you Falcons Steelers felt that way. Tell you
what tonight's game means uh to a team that I
don't think people are discussing of the two. We'll get
to that upcoming Thursday Night Football. By the way, he
should be pointed out that Thursday Night Football, I believe

(01:04):
is a stunning success for Fox. But what the NFL
has done is what the NBA did to Saturday night hoops.
They have squashed it if for college hoops and for
college football like you have to and I understand some
of this is because of conference alignment, but if you
go back to when I was in school, and it

(01:26):
wasn't that long ago, I was for a lot of
long ago. But you go back to nineties, early two
thousand's Thursday night football, you would have the old beat,
you'd have the Big East, you'd have Miami at Virginia Tech. Right,
remember those days. Beamer Ball in in the nineties was
made Thursday night football. Great games, great games. They're still

(01:50):
Thursday night games, just no one watches them because if
you watch football, you're gonna watch the National Football League anyway.
Doug Gottlieb show Box Sports Radio. Everyone still talking, not
just about Thursday night football. We're a day away from
the NLCS getting underway on Fox, but we're also uh

(02:13):
waiting for Tuesday night's NBA tip off. And instead of
freaking out over how the Warriors looked, or Trey Young
hitting at thirty five foot at all win a preseason game,
and making over making paralysis by analysis on preseason games,
let's talk about the latest drama. Jimmy Butler in this

(02:34):
story broke in show yesterday Jimmy Butler and shamp Sarannia,
who works for Stadium Now, recently tweeted out that there
was a player's only meeting led by Jimmy Butler and
he committed to wanting to compete with the player with
the current group of Timberwolves. Other players spoke up, and

(02:56):
that appears to be the way in which the tim
Wolves are leaning that he's gonna play with these guys.
You go back and he had an interview yesterday just
so happened to have interview set up with Rachel Nichols
right after the practice in which he led the Scrubs
to a victory in a scrimmage. He was Jimmy Butler

(03:17):
sitting down with Rachel Nichols. That's raw me, me at
my finest, me and my curious that's what you're gonna
get inside the lines. It could be, it could be,
but uh, do I think so? You know, because you
gotta be honest. I'm being honest. Do I think so? No,

(03:40):
I'm being honest with you, But it is. Everybody gonna
be honest. No, no, everybody's not gonna be honest. Like
if you go and say, which one are y'all told
what Jimmy said today in practice? Everybody, Oh, I don't,
I don't know, be honest, I don't care. It ain't
nothing we can do about it. Now, let me be honest. So,
Jimmy Butler hurt by the dishonesty within the locker room,
the lead in the locker room. It is ironic. It

(04:02):
is ironic that Jimmy Butler wants honesty and yet he
just so happens to have an interview with Rachel Nichols
set up when this incident just so happens to have happened. Right.
But among the things that people don't react well to. Remember,
we talked about Odell Beckham Jr. Essentially Calling out his

(04:24):
team is having no heart and um, he said that
he felt like he was being schemed out. So he's
talking about the coaching staff and he said, we gotta
play with great effort, meaning he's saying guys don't play hard.
That that attacks coaching. Coaches have to get their guys
to play as hard as possible. Calling somebody a liar

(04:45):
is not is not a way to endear yourself as
a leader. I understand what Jimmy Butler. Jimmy Butler is
trying to execute a hostile takeover of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Hey look, I'll stay here, I'll play here. We're gonna
do it my way and I'm going to be the leader.

(05:06):
And this some of this goes back to articles written
when he was in Chicago in we all have egos,
right there's there isn't a human being that's successful that
doesn't have an ego. Text Winner passed away last night
at the age of nine. Of course, most of you

(05:26):
know text Winner because of the triangle offense, something that
unless you understand basketball, and even guys that understand basketball
don't understand what the triangle offense is, how it's executed,
and how it allowed Phil Jackson to win eleven titles
in Chicago and in Los Angeles. But Phil ja but

(05:47):
but text Winner, in spite of the fact that he
was ultimately awarded as a Basketball Hall of Famer, he
may have had an ego. He just hit it quite nicely.
He did so with self deprecating humor. And I'm not
saying it's wrong for an NBA player to have an ego,
especially a star player to have an ego. I believe

(06:08):
Jimmy Butler is a star player. I don't believe he's
a superstar, but I believe he's a star player. But
Butler's ego outside out is is too large for his
actual game and too large to work with others. Right,
like and I find this actually with my own son.

(06:30):
So my son's nine years old and we're trying to
figure out what he's going to be best at because
he loves just about everything. He plays basketball, he's okay,
but he really likes playing with the team. He plays baseball,
he's good. Um, he's very good. He's a lefty who
hits right. He we're gonna have to we gotta turn
around here this offseason. He plays tennis. He's pretty good.

(06:52):
He actually plays right handed, even though he's left handed
in life. He plays football. He's very, very good as
a as a wide receiver. But do we want him
playing football? And ultimately is that the way he wants
to go? And when sitting down with my wife and
trying to decide, hey, what what sport? You know he
used to play soccer, thinks about wanting to go back

(07:13):
out for soccer. At some point you do have to
whittle down the number of sports. And the reason that
even though he loves tennis, I don't think he's a
tennis player is because he feeds off the energy of
others and loves winning and even losing as a team.
He is a team guy. You have to be able

(07:34):
to function within the locker room. Now, each sport is
different in terms of the team right. In baseball, you
gotta get along with people socially, and you do need
to to work together. You know, yah, cel Peig not
hitting the cutoff man early in his career and some
of the things he didn't do to endear himself hurt
him with the team. But the truth is, in baseball,
if you're a pitcher, um, if you're a catcher. If

(07:58):
you're a pitcher, you're a relief pitcher, you're a inch hitter,
you're unless you're a catcher, you don't really have to
have great relationships with everybody on your team. In football,
it's more about your position group and your side of
the ball. In basketball, you do it's it's a very much.
It's I think the most team event because you both
play offense, you both play defense together, and when you're
on the court, you need all five guys functioning together

(08:20):
as one. Jimmy Butler is almost he's more like a
baseball player, more like a tennis player, then he is
like a basketball player. I I understand he has a
sizeable ego and that he feels like his competitive spirit

(08:42):
is greater than some of the other younger players on
the team, like a Karl Anthony Towns. I get that,
But in addition to not understanding his own place within
the lineage of star players in the NBA, I'm not
sure he understands other people's ego us When he says

(09:03):
I'm being honest and the way in which he says it,
he's calling out the lack of honesty of others. I
don't think there's any doubt in my mind he believes
Karl Anthony Towns is the one who runs to the
media because Karl Anthony town is the media darling, and
Karl Anthony Towns when he gets done playing, couldn't be
in the media. Nobody likes being called a liar. Never

(09:26):
watched the Western What gets the guys to stand up
and go out and have a have a draw? You
call him me a liar? Right, It's not just his ego.
We all have him. And you're not going to be
homeless growing up to becoming a star in college and
a I mean a star in college and then a

(09:50):
second round pick and U all NBA guy and all
star in the pros unless you believe in yourself. But
believing in yourself up to the detriment of others. When
your ego not only outside of your talent, but but
uh but questions the ego, confidence and legitimacy of others,

(10:13):
you run the risk of alienating yourself and you may
end up leading this ship. But if if two teams
are tired of the way in which you want hostile
takeovers to take place, it becomes really hard to find
a third team that's gonna buy in and and go

(10:33):
all in. The Butler thing is fascinating, fascinating. Stug gotlib
show here on Fox Sports Radio. Man we gotta we
got a great show for you, great great show for
you coming up. Um, so many things to get to

well in the NFC, in the a f C South.

(12:55):
M m m m m m. I mean I to
feel like I'm about you, guys. I kind of feel
like and I felt like it at the time, and
I think I said it at the time, Um, Ryan
Music did Did I say it at the time that
I felt like the Colts by going forward at their
own forty three yard line that you know, everyone looked

(13:17):
at it from the Colts perspective. To me, it kind
of save the Texans season, right I did? Was that
my outloud voice or was that in a pre show
meeting or because that was the out loud voice, Doug, Yeah, yeah,
I that's what I thought too. Um, you know what
let's do. Let's let's let's bring it out for Blue
of course, the running back for the Houston Texans in

(13:38):
that one two in a row too, absolute nail Biers right, Like,
there's no overtime game. You know it's gonna be the Texans,
He joins us in the Doug Outlip Show on Fox
Sports Radio. Um, where where were you when the Colts
decided to go for it? Hello? Yeah, Alfred? Where were
you when the Colts decided to go for it? Where? Yeah?

(13:59):
I'm were you? Were you sitting there going like? Are you?
I mean, what was the reaction You're sitting there watching
helming On? Probably what what was what was your reaction? Uh?
By reaction that it was going for it and we
was gonna stop him. So you know, I had faith
in the defense that we was gonna stop him and
get another chance, the opportunity to win the game. What

(14:21):
what's that like when somebody kind of your defense steps
up and hands you, guys, after a hard fought game,
hands you a great opportunity. I know this a week
and a half ago, but but what what's that like
for your team that was so in need of a win? Uh?
It shows that we're uh, we'll fight to the end
and and We're going to continue to build on that
and it shows that, uh the team is coming together

(14:44):
and uh, we're getting better and better each week. Okay,
Now fast forward to this past weekend and kind of
the opposite happened, right, Like the Colts went forward on
their own forty three, the Cowboys decide to not go
afford on you or forty three yard line. Like, what's
your reaction when you're sitting there going like, wait, they're
not gonna go for it here? I guess they watched

(15:07):
the coach game. But yeah, it was a surprise. I
would have thought they would have went for you know,
uh you knowing that they had a good back in
the back, but I would have thought they would at
least try to attempt to go for it. Alfred Blue
joining us on the Doug Gottlib Show on Fox Sports Radio.

(15:27):
This hasn't been Uh, this hasn't been easy for you
to earn that many carries, and it wasn't easy with
yet twenty carries only forty six yards. But as your
first start, what's it mean that this franchise and that
that Bill O'Brien has faith in you to start you
running back? I think you have a lot of faith
in me. I've been here since. Uh, coach will Be

(15:48):
got in me five years ago, you know, his first
year here with the Texas, So I think he knows
a lot about me. Yeah, he puts a lot of
trust to me. He knows, he knows I come to
work and I'm just a reliable player. Um, Nuke Nuke
was simply amazing. I've actually if you watched NFL films,
it's it shows so Be saying we gotta get nuke

(16:10):
the ball, We gotta get nuke the ball. Finally he
made that incredible play with two two spins. It looked
like Madden. I haven't seen I haven't seen a dual
spins since Madden. Um, your your your sense of watching
watching Nuke do what he does? Uh, what's what's that
like to be a part of Uh it's uh part
of greatness? Really, you know, I've been here, been here

(16:32):
five five years, so I watched Uh. DeAndre cuts a
lot of balls and make a lot of plays. So
it's it isn't really is no surprise in the game
to think that he's not going to make a play.
You know, when it comes down to number ten is
always the guy that comes out and create something and
make something happen. Uh stug out the show here on

(16:54):
Fox Sports Radio, Alfred Blue who uh caught eight passes
seventy three yards, twenty care twenty carries forty six yards.
And that was a that felt like a game for
you in which man, it was almost a game and
a half. Like well that go back, take me back
to yesterday. How did your body feel considering the amount
of use that you got in that one game in

(17:15):
overtime against Cowboys. Uh, my body was really a story.
You know, still a little sword from the game, you know,
but it's a process throughout the week. You know, you
just got to get in the ice tub and do
stuff to take care of your body to get ready
to go on Sunday. Deshan coming back off off the
knee surgery. What percentage of back do you think he is?

(17:36):
I mean, last year he was tearing up the league
before he tore up his knee for a second time.
What percentage of of DeShawn do you think we see? Uh,
he goes out there, he plays hard. You know, he
was the captain of the offense, the leader of the offense.
And I think he goes out there and plays plays
to win. So I don't see any called in this game.

(18:00):
Why do you think you guys have had a little
bit slower start than some would guess. Uh, I don't know, man,
When you know it's something one of those things, you know, Uh,
we get a lot of mental parents, you know, balls starts,
killer drive. So I mean, you know, we're professional football team,
So it's those things that comes down to the teams

(18:21):
that's gonna make the least of minder mistakes. So I
think a lot of the games we beat ourselves, you know,
we all and we always fight back in the end,
and we in the games that we did lost, we
only lost by seven a couple of points. So I
mean we clean start cleaning up these these little mistakes
in the middle of mistakes, I think we're gonna we're
gonna make a run for Uh. You have Buffalo coming

(18:43):
in this week. Kind of a weird team, right, Like
they have some losses around the year, people lower expectations
of them. But then Buffalo goes in. You know, they
beat Minnesota on the road. Um, you know, Buffalo beats
the Titans, a playoff team at home, a team in
your division. What what do you see? You see this
Buffalo defense, I Steel defense. That play is hard. You know,

(19:05):
their front four is very good, you know, getting after
the uh the past, the quarterback and stuff. So it's
you know, their their professional seen like we're a professional team.
We just gotta prepare and go out there. Like I said,
make don't make the mental errors mental errors and jumping
off side and stuff, and I think we'll uh moved
the ball down the still Alfred Alpha Blue joining us

(19:28):
in the Doug Olip Show running back for the Houston Texans.
Can't let you go without asking you about the gig
big game in Baton rouge U L s U. I
don't know if they were I don't I don't think
they were overlooking Florida. But you lose the Florida, you
come back home, dogs coming in. How much trash talk
is there in that locker room with Georgia coming in
this weekend? Oh, there's a lot of trash all everybody
down in the L s U. But you know, I'm

(19:49):
a Tiger for life, so we're going with them. Um
all right, So is there there any bets that you
have laying out there? No? I own bet on again.
I just not necessarily better on a game, but you know,
like a jersey switch or or any sort of any
sort of thing. Nothing, just just just healthy trash talk.
I may just healthy trash talk. You know, they're saying,

(20:11):
George're gonna beat us, and I'm saying, we're gonna see
you know, little Tigre. You know we're gonna win Death Valley.
So I'm always take the home team. How many times
a day do people yell at you you're my boy Blue?
How many times? Huh? I heard that? I really it
started at L s U. Man, when the quarterbacks that

(20:32):
came in exactly. Yeah. I told me about this movie
Old School, and I was like old School and I
never even heard the movie. You're like, man, you gotta
see it because he kept saying You're my boy Blue Man,
and he went brought the movie for me and I
ended up watching it and uh and that's why. But
it just stuck women since my freshman year L s U. Yeah,

(20:52):
you never went streaking in the quad? Did you? You
did that? You didn't do the old school like Will
Ferrell go streaking the quad? Did you? Oh? No, man,
I don't do all that. Listen, best to luck against
the Bills and the Jags. Next week. It doesn't get
any easier. But man, you had yourself a hell of
a football game on Sunday. Congrats on the win and
thanks for joining us on Fox Sports Radio. Alright, pleasures
mind Alfred Blue he is our boy, joins us on

(21:13):
the Doug Gottlip Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Man,
that should be that's I mean, like, I don't know, Um,
I I love It's SEC is like that, I do.
I think most college foot problem. I don't feel like
I don't know if the PAC twelve is as much
like that in that when it's L s U and Georgia,
huge game, obviously Georgia undefeated this season. It does feel

(21:37):
like the guys in the league pay more attention to
what's going on back home than than some other leagus.
That that crazy. I think Big Ten as well. I
don't feel like the SEC out and look, part of
it is the a c C outside of Florida State
and Clemson. How many how many guys are there in
the league speaking of football and broadcasting my from Miami tomorrow,

(21:58):
I'll be the sideline for these Bears Dolphins game. Our
fall football tours brought you by Granger. How do all

Visit Granger dot com whenever you need whenever you need
a Granger. For the ones that get it done, let's
go to uh Dan Buyer Dan. What do you got
going on in the world of sports outside of Jimmy
Butler saying I'm your captain? Now, Well, the Pack twelve

(22:21):
wasn't getting it done in a game last month. We've
come to find out it all started with a Yahoo
Sports report. Now Commissioner Larry Scott's is the conference made
procedural mistakes and replay following a call in that game
between the Trojans and Cougars. On September twenty one, Scott
stated the media changes need to be made after an
unauthorized person to overturned a targeting call through the league's

(22:42):
replay procedures following a report from Yahoo Sports, and what
ended up happening basically was a targeting call was being reviewed,
it was not called targeting on the field, while replay
officials wanted to call a targeting penalty and ejection on
the play, and unauthorized Pack twelve official called the booth
overturning the replaced supervisor's call, saying that the call on

(23:04):
the field should stand. That was the then called by
the referees, and now there are changes going to be
made in the Pack twelve. As if that conference doesn't
have enough issues already, now the officiating coming into question
once again. The Winnipeg Jets take on the Predators in

Week six starts tonight. Eagles and Giants covered John Fox
begins at seven thirty Eastern time. Panthers tighten greg Olsen
a full participant in practice today, returning from a broken foot.
He is on track to face the Redskins coming up

(23:45):
on Sunday and Doug This from Spectrum News in Charlotte.
They say that former Panthers wide receiver Raker Ruth will
be released from prison on October cruise of more than
seventeen years in jail after he was convict good of
conspiracy to commit murder charges and the death of his girlfriend,
Sharika Adams. Um, okay, this this brings up you bring

(24:10):
out the music real quick, uh ramos So and Dan,
I know if you have to go, tell us. But um,
that was a hardle Okay. So I don't know how
many people remember Ray, the Ray Carruth story, but his
his ex wife or his his his estranged girlfriend or wife.

(24:32):
I can't remember his wife. She was pregnant and um,
he had he hired two guys to kill her, to
like run her off the road, and he was following
them as they did it, right, isn't that? This isn't
that what happened. I'm trying to remember the exact story. Yeah,
I can't remember if he was following or not, but
it was his girlfriend. And then they pulled up in

(24:54):
her vehicle and had it blocked and she couldn't go
anywhere they shoot her were today because she was pregnant. Right,
she died. She gave birth to the child who is
now a special needs child. And you know he got
how many years is he in jail? Over seventeen? Just yeah,
between seventeen and a half or so. Okay, So what

(25:18):
I don't this is a hard one. Does someone like
that ever deserve to get out of jail when you
when you when you do that, right, And it was
it was really about the fact that she was suing
him for child support, wasn't it. I mean it was
like there's ways in which you can react and and

(25:38):
if someone gets pregnant and you can overreact, and like
when we have somebody killed and then and then and
then the and then the child has done irreparable mental
harm even though he ultimately survived, yeah, from those actions. Yeah,
and there's reports that Kruth wants to have a relationship

(26:00):
with the son. And remember and then like the the
other part, he was on the loose and he was
hiding and saying the trunk of a car when police
ultimately found him. Right. Um, he was spared to death
penalty and he was found not guilty of first degree murderer.
So he's found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, shooting

(26:21):
into an occupied vehicle, and using an instrument to destroy
an unborn child. He sentenced to eighteen to twenty four
years in prison. I don't know, like that's a really
that's a hard one, right, It's like, yeah, I mean
I guess that. This is when we always we hear
about those sentences being handed out. We we always think like, well,

(26:44):
he's going to jail, and you know, but he was
a young man when he went to jail. Now he's
out in the street. I don't know. I'm okay if
he never gets out. I know he's going to get out.
But the idea that he legally he can have some
sort of relationship with the child who he tried to
have killed. And then and and Doug. Just to clarify

(27:07):
the he was ahead of her, she was following in
the vehicle and then he stopped and then the vehicle
pulled up, um alongside of her. There was another vehicle
behind her that ended up doing the shooting. Yes, Um,
And he was on I think he was on the
phone with with the with the vehicle that was following. Yeah. Uh.

(27:29):
And this was I was still in college at the time.
And then of course he was he was on the
lamb and he tried to flee and then had like
he had like four thousand dollars in cash. He had
a bottle in urine that he was like peeing in,
and he was in the he was in the trunk
of a car. That's another part of it, Dougas because
as you said, you were in college, I was in
you know, around the same time as well, and all

(27:51):
of a sudden, now you're to this point, we're all
at this point in our lives where we remember it.
It's still fresh in our minds, if you will, where
it's you're like, oh wow, now that's and is entirely over.
Just for that. That's why I find it so striking.
So when you say, doesn't he deserve to stay at
jail for this whole time? A I likely agree with that.
I do agree with that. And be it seems so short,

(28:14):
doesn't it, because it's just so I mean, it is
seventeen years, but it just it seems so short because
it's also a story that we followed at that time. Yes, yes,
it's truely true. When it's really been a long time,
we're actually old, like you know, it's nineteen years or
eighteen years whatever in jail. I mean, he's been in
jail for nineteen years. Um, that's a hard one. That's
a really I'm glad I'm not that. That's one of

(28:35):
those ones that I'm glad. I'm not a judge and
I'm glad. I don't set down these penalties because even
though you're found not guilty of something, you you know
that he set it up and I don't know, I
don't know. Doug gotlib show Fox Sports Radio this, Uh yeah,

(28:55):
just nothing good comes from from that story. Last week,
I said that at the Steelers Falcons felt like a
must win game. And obviously, if you're the Giants, you
lose this game, you're you're one in five on the season.
And remember that it's not just that you had faith

(29:15):
in Eli Manning and that's why you drafted Sae Kwon Barkley.
You obviously thought your team could win last year. You
didn't just lose O b J. And your offensive line
was a mess. You lost all your wide receivers, right,
you had no running game, you had no offensive line.
You broom your GM, you broom your coach, and you
try the short term fix and thinking, hey, our window

(29:36):
is still open one in five and the window for
this season feels pretty closed, like right, like this division
is struggling. The Redskins had the Redskins played, had a
week off and then played on Monday night, said plenty
of time repair and they looked completely unprepared for the Saints.

(29:57):
I mean, Drew Bruce drops back, there was a touchdown
first time, he lets fly right, like you didn't know.
So the Redskins aren't good. The Cowboys haven't shown the
ability to pull away from anybody. Every even the games
they've won has been an absolute struggle. And the Eagles
have been disappointed there two and three right now. But
instead of we always look at the Giants, right. Maybe

(30:18):
it's because New York. Maybe it's because O. B J.
Maybe it's because they were drafting second they drifted Sae
Kwon Barkley. Has anyone thought of what if the possibility
of the Eagles losing? Anybody thought about that? What happens
if the Eagles lose? See here, here's the thing about

(30:40):
locker rooms like the Eagles is all of that. Hey
we're gonna have fun. Hey we're gonna do it our way.
Hey we're gonna talk a little bit of trash. This
this is a little bit like Seattle. Now, it looks
Seattle's dominance lasted a lot longer. The Eagles had one
good year the year before. You know, they got off

(31:01):
to a good start, but then uh, they were all
full at the end. Of the season. Remember this is
the defending Super Bowl champions. They play the Giants on
the road if they were to lose. Now they do
have three home games in a row. But if you're
two and four and you've got the Panthers, and I
think the Panthers are pretty good. I don't think they're great,

(31:21):
and I think they have to win in meet grind
or fashion, they're pretty good. And then you get the
Jaguars coming in. I think everybody respects what they have defensively,
and they've been banged up at wide receiver. Then you
get the Cowboys. You definitely go to the Saints. You
still have to go to the Rams, still have to
go to the Redskins, still have to go to Cowboys.

(31:41):
Has anyone thought of the possibility what happens with the
Philadelphi Eagles are two and four to start this year
with the Panthers coming in. Don't get me wrong, I
think the Giants are in worse shape obviously, if they're
one in five in that same division, and the Giants
would then have losses to the Cowboys and the Eagles

(32:03):
in division and still have road games upcoming in Philadelphia.
But but you look at the Philadelphia Eagles, and like,
I feel like tonight is and maybe not must win
for the Eagles, but boy, that locker room could very
easily fisser a little bit if they're two and four,

(32:26):
if you lose to the New York Giants. You know,
I sought with the Cowboys, and the second the Cowboys
lose to the Texans, there's questions about Jason Garrett's job status,
and there's you know, Odell Beckham Jr. Was already questioning
the Giants. I mean, I understand that there's adversity in

(32:53):
anybody's season, and the Eagles could overcome that adversity, but
you don't want to be two and four and then
lose to the Giants. This rule in the season was
still the meteor schedule to count. So if you want
to go call it a must win game or you'd
be wise to win game, that's great. I just I
think we're looking at the Giants and not paying attention

(33:15):
at all to the possibility of Eagles losing this game.
Two and four and still a very difficult schedule to
coume a Heisman Heisman Trophy candidate playing hurt this season.
Find out who next be sure to catch live editions,
so the Doug Dot Leaps show week days at noon
Eastern three pm Pacific. You look at the way the
games games with managing, and I believe that really all

(33:37):
teams on on some level are doing it. But I
go back and if you think about what has actually
worked in this realm of of of analytics and matchups
in the last couple of years, go back to the
World Series last year and even the ALCS with the
Astros and and I think the analytics would have said
you should not close out the game with a starter
necessarily as they did with Landsman Colors in Game seven

(33:58):
of the ALCS and then Charlie in Game seven of
the World Series, facing the lineup multiple times as they did,
but it worked. And I think that's where I think
a J. Hinch. Some will say, Okay, well he's analytical
because he went to Stanford. Well, he's a very smart guy.
He went to Stanford. But he also was a very
traditional baseball person as well, and I think he blends
things very nicely. I think that's where you have to

(34:21):
find the right blend and and understanding that in some moments,
if we can have there all the numbers on the
spreadsheet are great, but it's different getting on the field,
and so the numbers may say one thing, but but
the manager may be able to look at the picture.
See hows warming up? See howays acting in the clubhouse
before the game between if the guy really is ready

(35:47):
you got, Dann? The game today? Doug is yes, all right?
Guests who admitted his conference made a huge blunder when
it comes to replay in college football. That's Larry Scott. Yeah,
that is the case. I mentioned it a bit earlier,
but the Pack twelve commissioner today had to follow up
on that. Yahoo Sports reports saying that an unauthorized voice
overturned what was going to be a targeting call and

(36:09):
instead left the call on the field, allowing the Washington
State player to stay in the game. But yes, Pack twelve,
do we know who was the yes, the the person
of interest, if you will, the Pack twelve official, right,
that's who we're talking about. Woody Dixon. He's the senior
vice president of Business affairs. His name's Woody. That's funny,

(36:34):
but now Woody Dixon. Yeah, the he's also the Pack
twelves general counsel and senior VP of business. Should have
said none of your business, would he? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
fire fire. His name is Woody. Um So, Woody Nixons

(36:56):
is like, he's a lawyer for the PAC twelve. He's like, nah,
no targeting. Is he a wazoo alum? Did he have
money on the game? Like? Why? I don't understand. I
don't either. I think that's why we all are kind
of like huh. But he came in and said there
was no call on the field. They ended up reviewing it.
The replay officials were about to say, yeah, that is targeting,

(37:19):
but then he ended up chiming his two cents and saying, no,
don't overrule it. Keep the call on the field wasn't targeting,
and that's what they ended up having to stick with. Ya. Yeah,
guess who Doug is a Heisman candidate and has been
playing with a sprain knee during this season. No, No,
it's Alabama quarterback to a tongue of Iloa. A sprain

(37:43):
knee according to Nick Saban, and that's the reason too
has a knee brace. However, it hasn't affected him in
games obviously also really hasn't affected him in practice. But
Saben revealing the injury yesterday, I don't really. I mean
it's not that I'm not sympathetic. I also think this
is one of the reasons, one you keep two quarterbacks
in case one gets hurt, but also you motivate that

(38:04):
quarterback to you heard re injured, because if you're injured,
you go the you go in the training room. But
if you're hurt, you can get back out there and
lead our team. You're injured, Jalen can come in and
take some reps. Remarkably, he's hurt, not injured. Guess who
Doug is looking at tax laws that would allow his
team to play more games in London. I'm gonna go
with um, what's his name, Shot Khan. Yes, the Jaguars owner,

(38:27):
according to the Daily Mail, looking into what the tax
laws are and maybe wanting to have his team play
more than just one game in London, yet keep the
franchise base in Jacksonville because of tax purposes, higher taxes
playing in London or in London, so we'd rather keep
the team in Florida. Same thing with players who would

(38:48):
be maybe playing in multiple games there. But that's what
Shaan Khan is doing. I like it looks I like it.
I mean, I'm sure Jacksonville doesn't love it in terms
of how many times they use their stadium and all
that is just an incredible well spring for the local economy.
But um, look this happens. I mean in the United States,
a lot of businesses are based in Delaware. Does anybody

(39:10):
actually live in Delaware? Like, no, you it's for tax purposes. Um,
In in Nevada, there's business based in Nevada and you
have to spend more than half of the year. So
what's the half of three sixty five? Anybody want to
do that math? That's a hundred And it's been a
four nights four nights in Nevada in order to to

(39:31):
make it work. So the tax purposes is. Look, I
was my first team. I was supposed to play on
in Europe. We trained in Italy and our home games
were in St. Petersburg, Russia. So there you go. Guess
who told Ginny Buss she needed to fire Mitch cup
Check and her brother Jim Buss if she wanted the

(39:52):
Lakers to sign Lebron, James Rich Paul Kobe Bryant. Yes,
that's according to a piece in The Athletic by Sam Amix,
saying that Kobe sat down with Genie and said, Hey,
you need to clean house if you want to have
any hope of Lebron coming to l A. I believe it.

(40:12):
I think he liked Mitch. But you know, they just
didn't do a good job. What's interesting watching the Lakers
play last night. They have very good depth, much better
athleticism across the board. Uh, the young players and the
old players. I don't think they're a great team. I
don't think our top three the top three team uh
in the West, and I don't think it's particularly close. Uh.
But if you look at that roster, I think there's

(40:34):
I think only Brandon Ingram. I think only Brandon Ingram
was from the Mitch Cup Jack era. So they've they've
turned over that roster in short order, guests who Doug
will be able to buy tickets to watch Tiger and
Phil's pay per view match play event Thanksgiving weekend in Vegas,
all of us, none of us tickets apparently aren't going
on sale, only v I p s and uh maybe

(40:56):
a few special guests will be allowed to watch the
match in person. Otherwise the rest of us are going
to be relegated to the pay per view aspect of it.
There is a chance that I'll be going to that event.
I just want to point that out, all right, and
guess who on the crew Doug was once kicked out
of class? Once? Who was kicked out of class of
the crew? Mm hm um, Well I've been kicked out

(41:21):
of class. But I'm gonna go with Ryan Music. Yes,
it was too much talking. Doug couldn't keep my mouth shut. Yeah,
it happen. Happens. That happens to Haze all the time.

It's the Doug Gotlip Show Fox Sports Radio. M Change happens.
It seems slow, but it's really really fast. I'll give

(42:32):
you an example. I give an example, Um, the iPhone,
the iPhone. When did the iPhone first come out? Um?
Do you know when the iPhone was launched? Or the
original launch date of the of the iPhone? It was
in two thousand and seven, June two thousand and seven.

(42:52):
So as much as you sit there and go, has
been a long time coming. And the smartphone thing, right,
we're only eleven years into this deal. And do you
know anyone who doesn't have a I guess you would
call it a smartphone. Things happen so fast. I'll give

(43:17):
you another example. UM, I've now, this is like our
tenth house we've lived in. It's ridiculous. We gotta we gotta,
we gotta pick a pick a place and stick there.
But throughout the time, you know, either renting houses or
buying houses and selling houses, moving because of work. You know,
you move in and you always had a TV guy

(43:38):
come and hook everything up. Right, and you go back
about ten years ago, maybe even five years ago, and
you want to have a smart house, right, You want
to have the ability. You got an iPad in the wall,
you can or from your phone, you can turn on
all the lights, you can turn onto different TVs. You
can record all this different stuff. Ask somebody with young

(43:59):
kids now, and when you ask them, hey, what are
your kids watch on TV? And they'll tell you, like,
my kids don't watch TV. Talking to my sister, my
sister has two in high school and one in middle school,
She's like, they're on their phones and their computers. They
do their homework on their computers and then they watch

(44:19):
videos and stuff on their phones. That's it, you know,
like saying when they moved in, they were like, well,
we gotta have a bunch of TVs for sports, Like, yeah,
maybe on Saturday and Sunday sports, guys we watch. We
want multiple multiple TVs. But even now I have a
big old TV to which which you know, if I go,
I can watch the sports mix, I can watch, you know,

(44:40):
six twelve games at once, and then put on the
sound of the one I want. I don't. I don't
need four TVs anymore. And so as as we kind
of sped up all of the different um technology, now
we're almost regressing in terms of the technology with televisions.
It's really interesting. And this has happened like overnight, overnight.

(45:06):
I remember Netflix, people on Netflix was gonna go out
of business when they raise prices like five years ago.
Now it's more valuable than Disney. It's crazy crazy. The
point is, you gotta pay attention to trends because rules here,
tweaks there, and before you know it, you're behind the

(45:29):
times you spent spent catching up. Um. The NFL is
clearly changing and evolving, just like the NBA, just like
Major League Baseball. I don't know if you know this,
but in baseball, many um many teams when they draft, hey,
they draft pitching, and they draft shortstops because the idea

(45:55):
is shortstops and maybe catchers. The idea is, if you're
a catcher, you gotta have great baseball like you, and
you gotta have really good you gotta have really good
hands and good leadership, the same thing. And then you
gotta have athleticism. At shortstop, we can make you into
a center fielder. We can make you into the left
field or right fielder. You have a good enough arm,
you're not scared of those rockets. You play third base

(46:17):
if you don't have that much ven arm, but you're
a good athlete, we can hide you over at second base. Obviously,
if you're a prodigious hitter and you're big, you play
first base, and then depth of arms. Baseball has evolved. Basketball.
What do you hear when you watch you watch last
night's NBA. I saw Jalen Rose had a list of

(46:40):
like the top two guards, right, and James Harden's in there,
and I'm like, well, James Harden is basically the point
guard for the Rockets. You're not the two guard the
days of the traditional two guard. Clay Thompson is a
traditional two guard. Brad Beale is more of a traditional
two guard, but Clay Thompson sometimes is the three. He's

(47:03):
not really a point He plays without the basketball. But
for the most part, you'll hear positionless basketball. Why is that, Well, because, um,
the way teams played defensively, they switch every screen. You've
got to be able to guard multiple positions. Offensively, you've
gotta be able to play with and without the basketball.
There's a lot less moving and cutting off of screens.

(47:25):
Some of that his players don't know how to move
and use screens. Some of it is everything is determined
based upon Jim Joel penetration. Alright, fast forward to football tonight,
We're gonna watch the Eagles take on the New York Giants.
Giants got Olivier Vernon back is gonna play for his
first game this year. I think that will be a

(47:45):
big change for the Giants. But big picture, average passer
rating is at nine point four. Let me give you
some context, right, what does that number mean? That seems high?
I told you last week and I went on Cowherd
and said, did you realize that eleven quarterbacks had a
hundred or greater quarterback rating a passer rating currently in

(48:08):
the NFL? Here's some context. The average passer rating right
now is ninety three point four. Feels high, doesn't it? Okay?
For the last fifteen years, the average passer rating was
eighty four point two. The average completion percentage has moved
to sixty and yards per tempt has spiked to seven

(48:30):
point five yards per ten. From nineteen sixty six to
two thousand and seventeen, so we're talking fifty one years,
the league saw three yard passing performances once every three
point eight games. This year the average is now once
every one point four games. It's not just an offensive explosion,

(48:53):
it's an explosion in the passing game. They know exactly
what they're doing. I can't touch a quarterback can't touch
a wide receiver. You touch a wide receiver after five
yards downfield, that's the flag. You touch a wide receiver
when he's going up for the ball without seeing the ball,
that's a flag. Through five weeks, NFL offenses have accumulated
three thousand, eight hundred and thirty five points, and teams

(49:16):
are averaging twenty four points a game. That's ten percentage
points higher than ever in the past. According to Pro
Football Reference, twenty four points per game is the highest
per team average in NFL history. Was the previous high.
That's at twenty three point six. Now the numbers probably
come down some with the weather. But remember the other
thing they've done in the NFL. The Vikings, they only

(49:38):
played two years outdoors, but they're indoors. Cowboys used to
play with a hole in their roof. I don't know
if you know, but Jerry's World actually is a retractable dome.
They never retracted, but they play indoors. Look around the league,
fewer and fewer teams play play outside, and almost all
of them play on turf. Two thousand thirteen holds the

(49:59):
highest mar in the Super Era twenty three point four
points a game. Now It could come down as an
adjustments made to the officiating and as bad weather strikes.
But the fact is it's an offensive explosion. And maybe
what's more interesting is last year at the Super Bowl,
we had um, we had Sean Payton on with us. Now,

(50:21):
think about how the Saints kind of like the Patriots,
used that first quarter pole the season to figure things out, right,
so they've adjusted in that. We don't have limited training camp,
so we'll use the first four games to try some
stuff out. Particular, listen to what Sean Payton told me.
Sorry i'll paraphrase, well, he basically told me, like, look,
the next wave in NFL defensive players are going to

(50:45):
be hybrid players, positionless defense. Those are the guys do
you have to be able to cover the run, but
the old runs stopping linebacker not as valuable as they
used to be. If you're a linebacker, we just got
to run, but we also need to be able to
use you in coverage against tight ends and against running backs.

(51:09):
I mean, from Levy on Bell to you know, pick
talented running back who gets out to Todd Gurley. That's
always been a huge mismatch. It has to be less
of a mismatch than it used to be. That's not
any different than the NBA. Right that you make two
choices at center. You either play small ball. I don't
know if you know this, but uh, p J. Tucker

(51:31):
started at center for the Houston Rockets in the last
preseason game. P J Tucker, Right. What's ironic about p
J Tucker when he came out of Texas at like
six ft four is a powerful Where people said he'd
be too small, he'd have to be a two guard
or three when he got to the NBA. Instead, now
he's playing five. It's worth the other way. You make
a decision in the NBA. Either you play small ball

(51:53):
and use a guard forward as your center and you
use his toughness and versatility and hopefully is shooting the
stretch out the defense, or or you put a big
shop blocker in there that's a ridiculous athlete and he
doesn't switch. He just kind of hangs around the basket
knowing you're gonna give up some open three point shots,
but you're gonna give up fewer shots at the rim. Look,

(52:17):
I thought we all look at it in a linear fashion.
Look at well quarterback and wide receiver defenses obviously know
that you got invest in defensive defensive ends and pressure
in the pass here, and that that's what made the
gave the Eagles first of all, the win over the
Atlanta Falcons, but also allowed them to be dominant last year.
But what's gonna allow teams over the next five years

(52:40):
to adjust and be better defensively? Hybrid players? Hybrid players.
He always have had to run, always have had to tackle,
and then some positions have had to run. Now you
can had to run and tackle. Now you're gonna have
to run tackle. Longtime NFL insider ed Warder joins the show.

(53:03):
Up coming next, nobody's more dialed in the Cowboys than Ned.
I'm gonna ask him if Jason Garrett should legitimately be
worried about his job status. That's up coming next. Be

(53:46):
joins us every week here on the Doug got Leap
Show on Fox Sports Radio. UM. And one of the
teams that I mean, like all the teams, you have
a ton of knowledge about what's going on inside their
front offices, but one of the teams that you know
maybe better than anybody on earth, is the Dallas Cowboys.
What's what's the sense of Jason Garrett's job status is

(54:06):
many have come out and said he could be the
first one to go if things don't change in Big
d I don't see him getting fired during the season.
Jerry Jones is excused every coach the Cowboys have ever had,
from Tom Landry to Jimmy Johnson to Bill Parcelves. But
he's only once replaced the coach during the season, and

(54:28):
that was Wade Phillips when the Cowboys of a Sunday
night nationally televised game lost to the Packers seven, and
it became quite obvious that the team had quit on
on Wade Phillips and he had Jason Garrett to give
the job to. So Garrett somebody that you know, Jerry
Jones has always coveted, and so I do think that

(54:50):
he came into this season having to win to remain
the Cowboys coach, and I think he put himself in
some jeopardy with his decision the other night to punt
in the on the first possession, uh, in in the
of overtime against Houston on the road. Jerry Jones himself
said that they were being out played and that was
a situation where taking a risk might have been necessary.

(55:13):
And this is the league where you know, Doug Peterson
won a Super Bowl with bold decisions, and even earlier
in the day last Sunday, Sean McVeigh went forward on
fourth down on his own side of the field with
the lead to close out the Seahawks. So, uh, there's
a lot of criticism in the building, even of Garrett.
I talked to a source over there who said, quote,
you've got to play to win on the road. I

(55:35):
don't know about us being the lesser team, but if
your mantra is fight as Garrett's is then you go
into a fight swinging, not running around the ring in
the final uh round of the match, with the judges
having even on the scorecards. So I think he's placed
himself in some jeopardy, but I don't think I think
he's gonna get the full season before his fate is

(55:56):
ultimately determined. Yeah, it's it's fascinating. The interesting thing up
McVeigh who's being championed. McVeigh was gonna punt, He was
gonna punt, and Pete and then Pete Carroll called time
out and the players like, hey, we don't, we don't,
we don't want to punt, we want to go for
let's end the game and end up working out. It
is really um, it is very interesting. And then you know,
look the juxtaposition of that decision with last week in

(56:18):
Indie on the other side of the field, though you're
only forty three yard line, the Colts go for, don't
get it and lose the game to the exact same team.
The Texans like, there's a lot, there's there's a lot
kind of going on there. Um, what what about the
blame for the offensive? Um, the offensive inadequacies? Does that
on him? Shot, I mean Scott Line. I know they

(56:39):
changed position coaches, but the kept Linahan and the thought was, hey,
we'll go with an ensemble cast, and to this point
it hasn't worked with those wide receivers. Kind of one
of the odd decisions that Jerry Jones made that should
almost never see anywhere else in the league. After last
season seven and nine disappointment, uh there was some pressure
to fire uh Sin Garrett at that time. Instead, Jerry

(57:01):
Jones comes up with this concept where he keeps the
head coach and the two coordinators and and basically replaces
most of the position coaches and believe that that could
make a significant difference. They're in a situation now where,
you know, coming into this season, it was believed that
Dak Prescott, uh you know, would have another good year,
the Cowboys would then be allowed to renegotiate his contract

(57:22):
for the first time going into his fourth year, and
that they would pay him franchise quarterback tight money. I'm
not so sure that's going to happen now. A lot
of concern despite all the rules changes and the record
number of points being scored at this point, record number
of touchdowns being scored to this point, you know, the
Cowboys are in scoring ahead of only two teams starting

(57:43):
rookie quarterbacks, the Bills and the Cardinals, are averaging sixteen
points a game. There's all kinds of questions about Dak
Prescott's accuracy, which has fallen every year from to current.
His yards of per game passing have gone from toe
to two oh nine into currently one ninety two. Uh
and and he just doesn't seem to be able to

(58:05):
elevate this average group of receivers that the Cowboys have
put around him. And I think that's a noteworthy point, Doug.
You know, they they claim that they think he's a
franchise quarterback. Well, I think if you really believe that,
then you do with the Eagles and the Rams and
the Bears have done for their young quarterbacks, you know,
Carson Wentz and Jared Goff and Mr Tropisky, you out

(58:26):
and you assemble as strong as supporting cast for them
to have success as you can. And that's certainly not
what the Cowboys have done. And staid they let um.
You know, Jason Witten retired after fifteen years, they didn't
have an adequate replacement for him. Has become obvious. And
then Dez Bryant was released in the Cowboys shouldn't have
done that if they didn't have somebody better, and clearly
they don't. Yeah, the Dez Bryant thing is interesting, Like

(58:49):
I get that he had he wasn't a number one
wide receiver, but you didn't you didn't have a plan
beat any of the guys they signed to replace it. No,
and they didn't do that. And you know, it's interesting
now that you know Dez has been trolling them on
Twitter every time they play, and at the same time,
he's made it very clear that that he's opened coming

(59:11):
back and forgiving everything that happened. And obviously we talked
about last week about all the criticism he levied at
certain people in the organization, including key players and the
head coach and the offensive coordinator. So maybe it's not
a situation that can be repaired, Um, but it's interesting
that he's willing to do it. Yeah, it's very interesting.
Doug out the show here on Fox Sports Radio, Edward

(59:32):
Or is our guest, UM. Tonight, you have the Giants
taken on the Philadelphia Eagles, and a lot of people
are focused on the Giants, rightfully, so because of the
decisions they made in the draft, dians decisions they made
in free agency. But what about the Philadelphia Eagles. Here's
a team that had their chest puffed out after when
the Super Bowl. We took chances, we went for we
have fun. You know, you lose your quarterback, coach and

(59:55):
your offensive coordinator. That's what happens when you're successful. Um,
you didn't have your quarterback his couple of games. Also
didn't have all Sean Jeffrey. Now you got a running
Now you got an issue at at at running back
with injury. Um, how how stable is that team? As Look,
they're one and a half point favorite, but they lose
night there, two and four right now? Coming off a
dominant year in a Super Bowl championship year. Yeah, since

(01:00:18):
Carson Wentz returned UM in Week three, they're just one
and two. Uh. They've obviously been forced into a position
where they're playing from behind a lot more often, uh
this season so far than they did a year ago. Uh.
Wentz has not been particularly good in that UM. You know,
he really took advantages of third down of defense on

(01:00:39):
third down last year had the highest completion percentage in
league Land. He's got the lowest completion percentage in the league.
When he's pressured, Uh, He's He's only completed like four
of his passes. All of his success has come when
he's not been pressured. In the offensive line. You know
Lane Johnson, the right guard, the right tackle went on
the injury report today with an ankle injury. Be interesting

(01:01:00):
to see if he plays. Uh. You mentioned the running
back situation. They lost J I E. So there's a
real expectation I think, given that they cleared some cap
space by redoing Fletcher Cox's contract and creating six and
a half million dollars worth of cap space, that they're
going to make a move I at the running back
position like they did last year when they acquired A J.

(01:01:21):
E in a trade with the Dolphins right at the deadline.
They've got till the end of the month. I asked
about Levian Bell with a source there who said that
Bell uh is too expensive currently in their mind. But
a player who may not be UH certainly is not
as expensive in terms of payroll. Is Lashawn McCoy on
a rebuilding team in Buffalo. And you know, Sean McDermott,

(01:01:43):
the head coach, didn't exactly come out and say no
to the reports that have surfaced that there might be
a potential trade between the two organizations. And Howie Roseman
is a guy we know as a general manager, is
one of the most aggressive gms in the league, and
I think that that kind of move might send the
right message to his team, just like the move for
a jot he did last year. That's the voice of Edwarder.

(01:02:06):
He's joining us in the Doug Gotlip Show here on
Fox Sports Radio. I did mention that the Giants um
the g men came out and played a hard fought,
spirited game which they lost on the sixty three yard
field goal. But they're also dealing with during the given
before the game and then after the game. The interview
with that Odell Beckham Junior had with Josina Anderson which
Little Wayne made an appearance. You look, before the season,

(01:02:30):
they signed him to a contract contract extension, and my
thought was like, what is the rush? You know, you
go back three months before the contract and he was
in a room with a woman and there was coke
in the room, and there was talk of them being
done with him with the franchise. Now like three months
of good behavior, like okay, and I wanted to see
how he handled adversity, and this is how he handles adversity.
Calls out teammates, he calls out his coaching staff, he

(01:02:52):
calls out their heart like, um, how's how's Odell Beckham
Junior view viewed right now with the Giants. Well, I'm
her that um with Dave Gettleman, the general manager, Uh,
the ownership and uh Pat Shermer that yeah, Pat Sremer
that there's you know, a real sense of betrayal here
because they they did give him big money. Uh, they

(01:03:16):
felt like he earned it by the way he interacted
with them during the off season, and then as soon
as he gets the money a month later, he's you know,
he's not showing confidence in Eli Manning as a quarterback.
He's not even saying that that this is where he
wants to spend the rest of his career. He's talking
about going to Los Angeles. But then he goes out
and has a relatively brilliant performance on the field. Was

(01:03:39):
certainly adventurous. He fumbled a punt and and was tackled
and and the Panther score a touchdown on that play.
He threw for a touchdown, he caught a touchdown pass. Uh,
So that's I'm sure they're not thrilled with the maturity
level of the guy, but they recognize his value as
one of the real playmakers in the game. And obviously

(01:03:59):
they committed in the draft to another season with Eli
Manning at thirty seven by taking Shake Chakawan Barkley, who
has been terrific. So that remains to be seen. But
I'm sure there's misgivings about what they did. Uh, he
certainly didn't reinforce the decision is a good one for
the Giants with his behavior in front of the television
cameras last week. Doug Olive show Fox Port traiter, that's

(01:04:20):
the voice of Edward or he joins us. You know,
it's interesting, it's kind of quietly what's happened during the
last week. Jameis Winston now back as a starting quarterback,
and they're using him um in their ad campaigns and
their marketing campaigns building up for for this weekend coming
off that three game suspension. Obviously fits played really well
up until you know, obviously fits Magic ran off, Rent

(01:04:42):
ran out um. How solid is the footing Jamis Winston's
on in Tampa. Well, you know, Dirk Cutter said, even
when when he made the change as inevitable as we
all knew. It was from Fitzpatrick back to Jameis Winston.
That you know, he said, Winston's gonna be here longer
than I am. Uh So that's a recognition that he is.

(01:05:02):
He was drafted to be their franchise quarterback when they
spent the number one overall pick. The reason Dirt Cutters
the head coach at the expense of love Smith is
because the organization viewed him as his offense and his
coaching as an important component in Jamis Winston's early success. So, uh,
let's see if he's changed by this bad experience that

(01:05:23):
he's had. I think most people would question whether that's
likely to change behavior that's existed for a very long
time with this particular player. I'm not surprised, necessarily to
see the Fox go out and use him as a
centerpiece of their marketing campaign. I think they want to
reinforce the relationship with him. Uh. You know, it's gonna
cost him twenty one million dollars to have him on

(01:05:44):
the roster next year. They've already committed to that, So
I don't really think it's a surprise. I think it'll
be interesting to see if he can pacify uh and
use Mike Evans and DeShawn Jackson as well as Ryan
Fitzpatrick did the first three games of the year. Yeah,
you know, it's it's It's definitely fascinating and interesting stuff.

(01:06:04):
Last thing game of the week is Monday Night football.
Assume Sunday Night football. Kansas City taken on New England. Um,
you go back up weeks ago, and I think all
of us we didn't want to hit that panic button,
we're but we were tempted to do so, especially watching
them in Jacksonville after losing to the Lions as well, like, oh, um,
have they fixed everything or is it simply a matter

(01:06:26):
of who they played? Well? I think New England's own
an up swing just because you know now little have had.
But this is Josh Gordon's third third week with the team.
Rob Gronkowski's healthy again. They got Julian Edelman back last week,
so I think there's an expectation that offensively they should
improve from this point forward, barring any more injuries. But

(01:06:46):
this this is a huge game for them because their
model for getting to the Super Bowl has been to
dominate the a f C East. Uh, you know, have
the best record in in the a f C, get
a home division round game game, and then host the
championship game and go to the Super Bowl. That's the
way they've always done it. While if they lose to
Kansas City this week, then they'll effectively be four games

(01:07:10):
behind the Chiefs in the race for the number one
seed long time you know in the future though it
is and you know Patrick Mahomes will uh present a different,
different player for them to defend themselves against. But Bill
Belichick's had great success. He's only making his seventh NFL start.
Belichick's ten and oh against quarterbacks who have started fewer

(01:07:32):
than ten games against him. So uh, it's a real
interesting matchup, uh and and real pivotal in terms of
how ultimately uh you know the playoffs where they might be,
where those games might be played, whether it's in New
England or Kansas City in the end of yep. Edward
or is the NFL Insider. Fallm on Twitter at Edward
or r f A and check out his doomsday podcast.

(01:07:53):
Add great stuff and enjoyed Thursday Night Football will catch
up next week. Sounds great, Duck. I look forward to it.
Thanks man. By the way, I'll be in Miami. Side
that tomorrow we're gonna broadcast live and there Sunday check
me out Bears Dolphins game on Fox. Are full football
tours brought you by Granger. Count On Granger, drop a
winning plays a, Granger dot Com for industrial supplies and
safety products to help your business cross the goal line.

(01:08:14):
Granger for the ones that get it done. Let's bring
in Dan Buyer. Dan, have you been following now some
of what's going coming on going out on Twitter? Yeah?
With where with with the Jimmy Butler meeting? Yeah? Yes, yes,
can you give give people the the whole kind of
blow by blow and then that he said, he said,

(01:08:36):
so we all know what happened yesterday. You talked about
it at the top, the outburst at practice, the interview
afterwards with ESPN. Well, the Timberwolves ended up canceling practice
earlier today. There was then a report from uh the
Athletics saying that the Timberwolves, led by Jimmy Butler, had
a player's only meeting today where Butler expressed his feelings

(01:08:59):
towards the play yours and how he was feeling towards
them as it looked like Minnesota was likely to move
forward with him this season. Jeff Teague then followed up
with that tweet of saying that's fake news, the Minnesota
point guard saying that quote it wasn't no players meeting,
You just made that up. You all got to relax

(01:09:19):
with the fake news. Of course it's coming from Sham's
who have the report about the players only meeting. And
uh so yeah, so this is the back and forth
that's going out. Did I miss anything of the following
the Tige rebuttal of the Jimmy Butler so called players
only meeting. Uh No, there's there's Darius Johnson odum, who's
you know, like a player. He's just like, what meeting?

(01:09:42):
And so there's this sense, um, there's there's this sense
that um uh that maybe it was an invite only, right.
I do think it's a possibility that some of the
guys that weren't at the meeting is because they're not
gonna be on the team. That that could be. That
could be as well. Maybe it was just there was

(01:10:03):
the uh. The Athletic reported that Butler also wanted to
sit down with Karl Anthony Towns and talk with him,
that he made this known to the Wolves front office
earlier maybe that was part of it. Maybe it was
just a Wiggins Towns sort of thing. I would think
Jeff Tige would be in the meeting, though, don't you.
I mean, as you said, you know, if Derris Johnson

(01:10:25):
Odom isn't in the meeting, Jeff Tea is probably gonna
be in that meeting, right unless it was just a
Wiggins Butler meeting. Yes, but he said it wasn't a
player's only meeting, you know, I don't know. That could
be a yeah, a lot of yeah there was. It
wasn't specific. You just said it wasn't no players meeting.
You just made that up. Yeah, that's going. Yeah, but

(01:10:47):
Jimmy Butler confirmed to Rachel Nichols that there was a meeting.
So I don't know. I'll tell you what I said
to the guys in the break, and I know we
are in network here, but it's sure seems that ESPN
is doing everything they can to promote the Jimmy Butler
uh storyline and have it do great harm to the

(01:11:08):
Minnesota Timberwolves. And I find it interesting that in a
in a side where a time where you shouldn't take sides,
it sure seems like sides are being taken in this
to help one's agenda. It seems it's been very very
pro Jimmy Butler in Minnesota is the one who now
has to have their trade leverage be lessened. You had

(01:11:29):
a deal, they could have got you, Josh Richardson from Miami.
Now maybe Miami doesn't want to give them up anymore,
you know. So that's that's opinion. That's not that's not
anything the report. That's my opinion. Dan Buyer's opinion. I
don't I'm gonna well, it's different. Um hmmm, I don't

(01:11:49):
think it's like, I don't think you're wrong that they're
trying to promote the storyline. But it's because they have
it is a storyline, and they got you know, they
have a willing source who's in to put himself out
there in Jimmy Butler. Right. So you know, look, when
I worked at the ESPN, there were people and I
remember I would listen to Fox Sports Radio sometimes and
there were there are people who have at the time

(01:12:10):
work to the network of like is ESPN promoting itself
like you damn right, you do. We do it at Fox.
It's dumb not to if you have something good, you
have something interesting, you promote that crap out of it
if you don't what you expect others to do so,
So I'm not critical of that. You know, like, um,
we got Thursday night football. We have it's it's on paper.

(01:12:31):
It's two teams that are having just you know, it's
two and three and one and four. We promoted because
when I do think it's important for lie you do
have the defending Super Bowl champions and if we don't
promote it, who else is going to? So I'm not
critical of that. I think what's interesting here is that
Jimmy Butler's like leaking stories and putting his name on it,
and he's just a willing source for all this stuff.

(01:12:52):
It's really that part's fascinating to me. I I just
don't hear much of the Timberwolf side, whether they're talking
or not. But we have Jeff t Giving to go
out on his own to refute a report. Interesting that
in the ESPN reporter couldn't have reached out to Jeff
Tigue and said, hey, did you guys have a meeting today?
We haven't heard any of that just seems to be
very one sided, that's all. And it's better I think

(01:13:13):
for in an in a league that is built on individuals,
because it is that the network is siding with the
individuals because they have their right well also, but but
we also we side on who. You know. It's the
the movie The American President. Actually, you don't watch movies.
You don't know that? Miss that one. You haven't watched
American President. I've never seen it, John Ramos, Ramos should

(01:13:34):
he watched The American President. That's a good movie with
Michael Douglas and Nette Benning. Yeah, and that Benning by
the way, I yeahah yeah, I'm a I'm a net
Benning even on the Senior Tour. Very nice. Um yeah,
I mean one of the great lines. It's it's written
by um. You like TV shows though, right? Yes? Did
you like West Wing? I didn't watch that one. I'm

(01:13:55):
like Sports Night sitcom guy. No, I don't like Sports Night.
You didn't like Peter Cross but okay, Sports Night. Aaron Sorkin,
of course, wrote both of those shows. Aaron Sorkin wrote
American American President. And the line is in the absence
of leadership, people listen to whoever yells allowed us that
that's basically what this is. Like the Timberwolves they're in
a no win. They're not saying anything. So the players

(01:14:16):
are all and especially Jimmy Butler's doing the talking. That's
why he's you know, he's getting so much attention. Sorry,
go ahead, you got a bunch of this is fascinating, top,
Go ahead and finished. Laye Johnson down graded a questionable
for the Eagles tonight, so the tackle may not play
against the Giants. Cover John Fox begins at about three
hours or so just under three hours seven thirty Eastern

(01:14:36):
time to be exact. UH Packers wide receivers Randall Cobbin
Roonibo Allison returning into practice from hamstring injuries, and the
Brewers have set their rotation for the first three games
of the NLCS. Geo Gonzalez goes in Game one, Wade
Miley starts in Game two. Releash Chasing goes in Game
three in Los Angeles, So no bullpen by committee like
they started the n LDS. Geo Gonzalez getting to start

bad has Eli Manning been? The answer might surprise you.

Neil Hunter joining us in the Doug Gotlip Show here

(01:15:18):
on Fox Sports Radio. The new rule in which guys
at your job when you're trying to sack the quarterback
where you can't land with any of your body weight,
how does that change how you do what you do?
It has a big effect on what we do, you know,
because sometimes we try to tackle the quarterback. You know,
we got to tackle them the right way, you know,
and even if we try to adjust ourselves in the

(01:15:39):
right way, the quarterback might great free and you know,
be able to scramble and make a thick plate on
the field. But sometimes we're calling positions where the only
way how to tackle the quarterback is just fall down
where we fall down on them, and then that might
also cause our team a penalty by just the penalty
that they made this year, the rule that they made
it ship just laying on the quarterback. So you just
gotta be conscious and just always have you in your

(01:16:00):
mind that you gotta tackle the quarterback in a certain way,
all right, So do you change like Khalil Maxiems have
gone to strict simply gone up to the strip sac
how can you evolve and how can you change and
still be affective? He has a good thing going with
strip sex. You know, it's a good way to keep
both of you and the quarterback from getting hurt. So
I'm guessing that the way how to do it now.
But basically you just gotta pull the quarterback on top

(01:16:22):
of you. So you you grab them and then you
pull them on top of you. Said, your your body
weight ends up absorbing the ground. Is that the idea? Basically? Basically,
I look at it as a slide tackle. Grab them
in slides like your slide for first base. If you

(01:17:06):
for you a portion of a previous show on Fox
Sports Radio or Fox Sports One. We call it the
Fox Say. Here's Peter King on the Dan Patrick Show
talking about Eli Manning in the Giants front office. The
funny thing about this Eli thing is that everybody is
talking about Eli as though this is sort of a

(01:17:27):
new thing. I mean, Dan, this has been happening for years.
I mean, by most metrics he's in the lower quadrant
and maybe even lower than that, and almost everything. I
don't know what people thought was going to happen this year.
E line needs to have tremendous protection. That's all there
is to it. It needs to have great protection in

(01:17:47):
this offensive line, even though it's got some new pieces,
is not protecting a line nor creating enough lanes for state.
Kwon Barkley was still the right pick. You know, I
don't think so, and I never did think so. I mean,
I totally respect Dave Gentleman because I think he believed,
and this was told to me, that there was not

(01:18:07):
one of these quarterbacks, even after Mayfield, who we loved
enough to take anywhere very high. So if that's what
he chose, the Giants basically now have to think that
in the top five next year, which is probably where
they will be drafting, they're going to have to get
a quarterback, maybe the Oregon kid or you know, look,
I don't know. I don't watch much of college football.

(01:18:29):
So they're gonna have to get one of those guys.
They probably should have gotten them this year. But look,
Dave Gentleman has proven in his last two drafts. He's
taken Christian McCaffrey number eight, He's taken se Kwan Berkley
number two. He goes against the grain and he's a
little bit of a of a personnel dinosaur in that regard. Yeah,
a little bit of a personnel dinosaur. Now, part of

(01:18:51):
the reason they could go after Christian McCaffrey at that
point the draft was they already had a quarterback. Here's
the thing that I think is really import and to
realize with Eli Manning, Um, it wasn't like it was
just Ben McAdoo who thought Eli Manning was was on
his way out. It was the general manager, it was

(01:19:13):
John Marray, the owner. Um, they all had to be
on board in order to call Eli Manning in and say, hey,
we're eventually gonna work towards getting Davis Webb some some
reps that we're gonna play Geno Smith. I mean, honestly,
I don't even think they wanted to play Gino Smith.
It was just it was more than Eli said, Hey,

(01:19:34):
if you're gonna sit me at the end of the game,
just sit me. Fine, And they did. They called his
bluff and he wasn't bluffing, and then he did the
smart Eli thing, and you know, got everybody else to
act like they were upset. Dude. I saw Victor Cruz
on ESPN Roller today, and I like Victor Cruz. I
personally hung out with him. I know his charity work.

(01:19:55):
I think he's a good dude. But Victor Cruz's reason
for h for believing the Giants would win tonight is,
you know, Eli Manning, he just finds a way. I
had just find a way, Like what year are we in?
That's one that something analysis to it's not accurate. Just
finds way. Why hasn't he found a way in years?

(01:20:16):
I'll even give him a pastor last year because they
weren't surrounded by town like that. Many people who have
been around Eli that long all saying, yeah, this is
last year. Now, you have a completely new front office,
a new coaching staff, and they're convinced, yeah, Eli doesn't
have it. Like how many people have to say he
doesn't have it before you realize he doesn't have it?

(01:20:41):
What say, thank you, John, I appreciate it. Go ahead,
rye music. So do you think that ultimately in the
long run, if Dave Gettelman was correct that, you know,
they didn't like Baker Mayfield, they didn't love Sam Donald,
they didn't like any of these guys. And if they
are at the top of the draft, will he ultimately

(01:21:03):
in the long run be looked at for doing the
right thing, for taking say Kwan. If he does a
great job and they get another quarterback this year, because like,
we kind of have ripped on him for like, man,
you really should have got a quarterback. They should have
gotten a quarterback. But if he gets say Kuon and
a quarterback because they were bad the year before he
got there, and then he's kind of like, well, what

(01:21:25):
what did you expect me to do? I'm dealing with
these old players. So if he gets the quarterback and
the running back, are we going to look at that like,
well he did the long play, that was a smart thing. Um,
I'm sure that's how many people will look at it.
I will look at it as this becomes a lost year, right,
this becomes a wasted year. You know why I put
off to tomorrow what you can ultimately do today. And

(01:21:47):
he could have stuck a stake in the heart of
the Jets. The Jets are sitting there at third and
they don't take Donald after the Browns don't take Donald,
and so the Jets like, are you kidding me? We
get the number one guy on our board and we're
drafting heard if you're moving heaven and earth? So, um,
do I think Herbert? And then again, you're also we're

(01:22:07):
also operating on the Does that mean they're absolutely going
to get Justin Herbert? If Justin her you know, is
is that a is that a formality? One? We don't
know if they will have the first first pick in
the draft. And and this is a little bit of
this is what we talked about earlier, which which we
talked about the last couple of weeks, which is a

(01:22:29):
lot of those bottom teams, like the Arizona Cardinals, they
already have their quarterback, So um, there may be the bill.
But but that's not to say that somebody else doesn't
leap frogram. What's to say that the number one pick
in the draft isn't traded away and ultimately somebody else
who needs a quarterback decides to leap frogram? Then what then?

(01:22:49):
What do you do? At number two? They had the
chance to draft Sam donaland was number one on most
everybody's board in the Nation Football League, and they chose
to let them go to the Jets at three. That's
a tough pill to swallow, all right. Doug Ota Lip

in sports, especially when you're in Fox Sports. We had
Major League Baseball's playoffs, getting ready for the World Series.
A L d S gets on the way tomorrow night tonight.

(01:23:56):
You got Thursday night football. Giants against Eagle is of
course America's game of the week on Sundays. The World Series,
upcoming college football in the Big Ten. It's amazing. And
the guy who um has to call every one of
these events he's contractually obligated to do so, is Joe
Buck and he's kind of to join us here on
the Doug Gotli Show. Joe, how are you? How? How

(01:24:17):
are you? More importantly, how's the voice holding up? It's okay,
It's okay. Thanks. I don't know, we'll see at the
end of October and the beginning of November when I'm
football full time. But so far, so good. And you know,
I think people make a bigger deal out of doing
all these different games, uh, back to back and multiple

(01:24:39):
games in a week and all that. You just you
kind of do your work. You you show up and
you see what happens, and you talk about it. It's
it's not really uh, it's not really rocket science. Um, well,
otherwise there'd be rocket scientists in the booth, right, I
mean that's that's the rockets. Otherwise, Yes, the First Man
movie with Ryan Gosling would be about announcers and not

(01:25:00):
Neil Armstrong. Um, that's the voice of Joe Buck who
joins us tonight down Thursday Night football Giants host the Eagles.
The great thing about this, which, of course seven thirty
Eastern Time, four thirty on Fox, is you just saw
the Eagles on Sunday, right, you guys just called that
the game in Philadelphia, So there's not a ton of
It's not like I gotta go back and watch tape.

(01:25:20):
You prep for that one, you prepped for this one.
Have you been able to put your finger on why? Um?
They're not hitting on all cylinders. I just think they start,
you know, when when your quarterback pears his A C
L among other ligaments and doesn't play at the preseason
and the first stirring offense, even with polls during the preseason,

(01:25:41):
didn't score any points, and they they look like they
were struggling to to get some timing, and then they
bring the quarterback at back after a couple of weeks went.
I still think they're searching for some kind of rhythm.
That doesn't absolve the offensive line from all the sacks
or the quarterback hits. And Wentz has been sacked twelve
times in three games. That's two launched secondary. It looks

(01:26:02):
a little bit more suspect than it did a year ago.
But I think by the end of the year, when
you look around at the NFC East, I don't know
how at least as we sit here in Week six,
you don't say Philadelphia is still the best team in
the NFC East. I think that will prove to be
true by the end. It may not be even tonight,
but I think they'll I think I'll win this division
again this year. Joe Buck, who's joining us from that

(01:26:25):
life stadium. I know because I have a friend who's
standing behind you taking a picture showing showing you in
the booth getting ready. H you're doing some prep for
tonight's game. That's seven last week's I'm looking at last
week's forward and basically just transcribing everything that was on
last week's thing to this week's thing. So it's it's

(01:26:45):
like the greatest copycat experience of a lifetime. Yeah, but look,
this is not like when you're in a fret in college.
We can go back in last year's tests, right, Like,
that's your own work that you're checking. It's not somebody
else's work. This is not like the work of Tom
Brennaman or Jim I'm not taking Jim Dance's notes from
last week's Fightings Eagles game and taking it from my own.

(01:27:07):
This is my own work. I'm doing my first NFL
sideline this weekend. I need some advice. Oh my god,
who are you doing? Um? Bears Dolphins? Well, hello, it's
a good game. I know you got eighty five. I
feel like I want to do flashbacks to eighty five
Bears Dolphins, but like nobody in the field even knows
that game existed, all right, Yeah, it just makes you

(01:27:30):
feel old, you know, when I start looking at head
coaches now and you go to their age. I was
just looking at Craig Council getting ready for the Brewers
and the Dodgers tomorrow night, and uh, he's a year
and a half younger than I am. And and I
look at it like a big league manager. Since I
was doing this since I was twenty one, everybody feels

(01:27:53):
older to me, but I'm basically older than everybody I cover.
Now including the head coach and his assistance. So it's
it's been a nice life change for me over the
last few years. How do you do that? I mean, like, listen,
obviously we've talked about this before on air. I know
everybody talks about with you off air, and you've had

(01:28:13):
your book, you've had shows about it in that people.
You know, anything you say is dissected and dissected again.
How do you but baseball, especially, so much of it
is based not just historically, and obviously you have an
encyclopedia brain growing up around the game, but like, look,
you're calling Thursday and Sunday and now you're thrust into
the n l d S and there's only so much

(01:28:35):
you can prep for it. Like do you go back
and watch every game? How do you do that level
of prep? Because baseball, especially, the one time you say, hey,
he's doing well and he's been doing poorly, people will
jump all over you. How do you prep for two
different sports? Especially at that level. You know, at some
point you figure out what you need to know and
maybe more importantly, what you don't need to know, and

(01:28:57):
you find the shortcuts and you can do it in
a way that you know you are well versed. I'll
know something on everybody in the lineup tomorrow night for
the Dodgers and for the Brewers, and you know it's
Clayton Kershaw's pitching for God's sake against Geo Gonzalez, who
have done in the postseason before. So it's not like

(01:29:17):
I haven't seen these guys before. And then you just
do the game. I don't know. I mean, I don't
watch a lot of tape. I'll watch a game when
I come across it. I got it into a lot
of trouble years back when I said on on a show,
you know I don't watch all the West Coast speeds
of baseball games every night. I'm a dad, I'm a husband.
I'm trying to live my life. I don't you know why.

(01:29:38):
I see just about as much as everybody else. And
then I read I think more than anybody else. But
then you just go do the game. I don't understand
why everybody freaks out about two games in a week.
I grew up doing five, six games in a week,
sometimes seven, doing baseball every day, and you get conditioned
for that, and you know, two games a week is

(01:30:00):
not that big of a deal. People work a hell
of a lot harder than I do, and the rest
of the world, no question. It's like when people say, well,
I I flew so much like you didn't actually fly
the plane. You just sat there and road and people
and I leaped and drank and read and watched uh Netflix,
whatever you downloaded. So I I don't know. I'm just
not I'm not a big fan of trying to do

(01:30:21):
the hey, I work so hard thing, because everybody works hard.
And I grew up, you know, trailing around after my
dad with all these games. I mean, he worked ten
times harder than I work and and made probably a
tenth of what I make, and and I I saw
that as a boy. That's why I'm doing what I
do because I loved being around him. But he whistled

(01:30:44):
into the booth and whistled on out and loved every
minute of it. And if he wasn't complaining, my god,
I should be the last person to fitch and moan
about it. Um. You know. It's what's interesting is a
couple of years ago, I actually more than a couple
of years ago, as we both talked about how old
we've gotten now, I told you you nailed it on
the I you know, the the ability to to use

(01:31:06):
your dad's call when the Cardinals twice were down their
last pitch and come back in Game six of the
World Series against the Rangers, and of course your call
was we'll see you tomorrow night, which is exactly what
your dad said, which is amazing. I still think, you
know my favorite call of his. And again I'm a
West Coast guy son here him every night with the
Cardinals was Kirk Gibson's home run. Um, how how much

(01:31:28):
do you do you feel his energy when you're calling
the World Series all the time? Um? You know, he
wasn't one. I'm just proud to follow him into this
business because there's not anybody I have ever met in
the thirty years I've done it now that a sentence
hasn't started with Hey, you know I worked with your
dad back in the eighties. I don't have to duck

(01:31:50):
and worry about what's the what's the second part of
that sentence? You know? And that's sone of a bitch
you know, owes me eight grand or something, and it's
it's none of that fool enjoyed being around him. And
and when I hear those calls like the Kirk Gibson
home runner in my hometown of St. Louis the Ozzie
Smith go crazy, folks go crazy. It was just a
raw emotion that he had and a love of the game,

(01:32:13):
and I love of those players. I mean, he he
got around, these guys, got to know him, consider them friends.
And when I go back and listen to a Bob
Gibson no hitter, he's making the call in the ninth
inning and his voice cracks because he's crying because he
that's the beauty of of sport to him. And and
he loved Bob Gibson. And when I listen to that,

(01:32:34):
that to me is my favorite call of his because
he was choked up calling a no hitter. That's how
much he loved it. And uh so I feel that
all the time. There's no way I ever walked into
a booth and there's not some piece of my dad
that I'm carrying in there with me. Yeah, it's it's interesting,
and I don't mean to bore you, and I'm sure
people do still all the time. But Gibson's home run
I was my best friend growing up. Still my closest

(01:32:56):
friend now is Miles Simon. He's now an assistant with
the Lakers. Uh, he were with Mets fans because of
our he was a Mets fan. I was metsaying because
my dad was a New Yorker. And so we're just
watching Gibson and he turns to me. He's like, Gibson's
gonna hit home run. And I was like, yead add.
He was like, watch, she's gonna home run, and he
your dad perfectly described it. Then he hits it, and
he says, I don't I don't believe what I just
I don't believe what I just saw. And that's it
was the And then he laid out, which of course

(01:33:17):
is what what broadcasters all taught to do and no
one ever does, and just let the ambiance and the
crowd noise, and it was amazing. I remember exactly where
I was during that moment. That's the power of baseball.
Baseball moments. All right, let's let's get back to it tonight.
In college, I was in college and I was the
one dork that was sitting back in my dorm room

(01:33:38):
watching watching the World Series. Everybody else was was out
doing something and I was. I was watching it. So
I didn't hear my dad's call because I was watching
it and I heard Scullies call, which is just as
good and just as poignant and and brilliant. And he says,
you know, in the years he's rounding the bases and
pumping his arms. He said, in the in the year
of the improbable, the possible has happened, which is, like,

(01:34:01):
I mean, just so poetic and perfect. Uh. You know,
those are two great calls. That night, the Giants played
at night, and um uh it is a hard transition.
But whatever, O b J. He has that interview with
Josina Anderson and Little Wayne's there. I know, usually Little
Wayne rolls with Troy, but instead he rolled with with
b J. I spent a lot of time together in

(01:34:23):
the off suits and not during the game. Um, when
you when you sat down with the Giants before this game,
how how much how much trapnel is there to pick out?
How much is that still an issue within that those
front offices? None. I I don't think anybody cares to
be honest with you. I talking to Pat Shermer, and
I think it's because of the way Pat Shermer handled it.

(01:34:46):
And if there was any you know, O'Dell said after
the game, you know, hey, that brought this team together,
then I'll do that every time. I to me, it
was more the reaction by the head coach, and that's
for as upset as the mirror is, and the ownership
of the Giants should have been at Odell Beckham if
nothing else kind of uh not really answering the question

(01:35:08):
are you happy in New York? The answers should have
been the hell, yes, if they've put their money behind me,
and I'm gonna do. But but if that wasn't the answer,
as we know, for as disappointed as they I'm sure
word of that, they should have been thrilled with the
way their first year had coach handled it. And so
I think he came off and showed exactly what he's
all about. And I don't think anybody cares one lick

(01:35:29):
about that interview with the Giants. I think they're worried
about the Eagles, and I don't think it's just you know,
bs athletes speak. I don't think they care. I I
think the media. It's a it's another example of how
the media, and I'm part of it and I'm sure
we'll talk about it tonight, the media cares more about
it than the players are. The people involved. What about Eli,

(01:35:50):
not in terms of the criticism, but in in the
closing window here, right, Like they've changed coaches, they change coaches,
they change coordinators, they change Lyne, they get a new
running back, they got the wide receivers back, and yet
he's still kind of getting quick hot pitating that football
and they're still not as productive as they should be. Um,
what's your sense of of Eli Manning and the idea

(01:36:12):
that maybe Father Time is is announcing his presence. Well,
I think I think it's a convergence of all that stuff. Yeah,
they change the offensive line. That doesn't mean the offensive
line is good. Uh, it doesn't mean that you know,
they've they've solved the riddle. Uh, they're better than they were.
But I don't know that they're opening keeping holes for Barkley,
who's a impressive a guy on the field as he

(01:36:34):
is off the field. Uh, what a good kid he is.
And you know, we'll see if if they can squeeze
another year out of Eli Manning, another two years out
of Eli Manning. Fine. They obviously didn't view those other
quarterbacks as franchise guys. They viewed the running back as
a generational running back, and he may very well be,
but it doesn't mean they have to buy into the

(01:36:54):
hype on darn Old or any of the other guys.
And they're gonna have to hope that they can squeeze
two years out of Eli Manning and and that backham
and in this offensive line you know, continues to gel
and get better. But if it doesn't, then they're not
gonna win. If it does, then they got a shot
in a really bad division. Well, listen, I have a

(01:37:16):
great call tonight. Can't wait to hear you Troy and
um And and Aaron on the game with the defending
champions taking on the Giants and then safe travels to Milwaukee.
Can't wait to hear that call of Kershaw versus Gio
Gonzalez Game one of the n l d S. Big
time for you. Thanks so much for joining us, Joe.
Always a pleasure, alright, Doug anytime. Thanks all right, man,
Joe Buck joining us on the Doug Gotlip Show Live
from MetLife. Getting you ready for Thursday night football which

(01:37:39):
is on Fox. Of course Friday night you got game
one of the n l DS that also on Fox.
And like he said, I I say that all two
people all the time, Like, oh, man, you're taking a
red eye. You're flying across the country in the middle
of the night to go to Miami. Like, yeah, I'm
not flying the plane. I'm riding in the plane. If
I was flying in the plane, that that actually, that's
something newsworthy. That's something newsworthy and noteworthy. This, in fact,

(01:38:05):
is not um. All Right, we got a bunch of
things still to get to on The Doug got Leap
Show again Thursday Night Football seven thirty Eastern time, four
thirty Pacific. Is there an upset brewing tonight on Thursday
Night Football? Take it to Vegas. Get some of the
numbers next to be sure to catch live editions of

give my money? Right? Are you tired of losing money

(01:38:50):
every week? Do you want to be in the note? Well,
we might not know, but Vegas always knows. The bottles
Monday through Friday right after this show six o'clock Eastern time,
three o'clock Pacific. The show is called Straight out of
Vegas and r J Bell, along with Jonas Knocks, host

(01:39:12):
that show. You can check out r J Bel on
Twitter at r j in Vegas. He's the founder of
pregame dot Com. Pregame dot Com is the exclusive odds
provider for the Associated Press. R J. We're getting ready
for Thursday night football, and the Giants are a team
that I think everybody you know, like, you have two
interesting teams defending st Bowl champions in the Eagles and
the Giants who get Olivier Vernon back. Um, give me

(01:39:34):
some of the numbers, some of the sense historically of
where the Giants are. Well, I mean, if you look
at the last twenty two games, so that's a season
and a half almost, they've won four games, the Giants,
four out of twenty two straight up. So this is
obviously a team we can look at last year and say, oh,

(01:39:55):
they gave up on maca do etcetera, etcetera. Colin cow
right here in the Fox family was like, oh, that
Giants team maybe a playoff team. Listen. I don't know.
There's a little subjectivity about where you want to put
Eli Manning, but no one's putting him out in the
top twenty with any common sense. So maybe he's twenty five,

(01:40:17):
maybe he's thirty. But this is a bottom third in
the league quarterback, and we can debate from there, and
you just are not gonna win with a quarterback like
that unless you're dominant somewhere else. I personally would rather
have Blake Bordles than Eli, but it's probably a smidge.

(01:40:37):
But if you look at the Jags, they have maybe
the best defense in the league, so they can still
win if you forget Eli. And let me ask you, Doug,
what side of the ball, what position group even is
is elite? Um? I don't think there is one, and
thus we have one of the seven or eight worst
teams in the league. All that said, there has been

(01:41:01):
significant professional money on the Giants. If we were to
talked twenty four hours ago, the line was Eagles on
the road favored by three, and now the Eagles are
only favored by one and a half. So literally coming
off that three, which is the most key number in
the NFL because it's the most common margin of victory,

(01:41:24):
big money on the Giants. From what I hear, it's
more fading the Eagles because of their cluster injuries out
running back. Yeah, and you know, listen, um in you
have quick turnaround game as well coming off a loss
at home. Uh, there's a there's a bunch of things
going against the Eagles. R J Bell joining us at
r J in Vegas is the Twitter handle. Um alright,

(01:41:46):
let's get into some of the weekend the weekend uh
weekend games. The Arizona Cardinals are a team that were
they did I see their oh and nine against the
spread and ten am uh Pacific Coast time games? Yes,
what doesn't that make you want to load up on
the Green Bay Packers. Now here's the thing, Vegas has
it tough, man. How many people out there on all

(01:42:09):
of the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of Doug Gatlief
stations are thinking, you know what sounds great living in
Vegas not having a boss and Betton Sports, Right, I
think there's probably a few thinking that. Well, here's why
it's so hard. It's because you not only have to
know what's true, you have to know what's true when

(01:42:31):
the market doesn't consider it. So we all know a
ten am start is tough, but the marketplace the odds,
the spread usually considers it meaning long run. If you
just bet against West Coast teams ten am Pacific start
on the East, you'd break even. History says the market

(01:42:51):
properly accounts for it. In this case, the Cardinals are
oh and nine, So you've gotta ask yourself, is this
a sign there's something about this Arizona team that's particularly
susceptible to this or is it just one of those flukes,
because oh and nines can happen in a flukey way.
So what I will say is this is a rare case, Doug,

(01:43:13):
I would lean vikings. And when I say rare, on
a double digit favor And there's two quick reasons for that.
One is the Cardinals were plus five and turnovers last week.
They won the game. It looked good that they won.
But when you're plus five and net turnovers, you win
the game at the time and you cover the spreader

(01:43:35):
cent of the time. It would have been shocking if
they didn't cover. If you actually look at the stats,
they were out gained by two hundred and fifty yards
last week the Cardinals against San Francisco, so it really
wasn't a good game even though it was their first win.
And also the Vikings, what are you worried about with
a double digit favor them taking the game lightly? Well,

(01:44:00):
the last time the Vikings were a double digit favorite,
they lost as a seventeen point favorite against Buffalo. I
can promise you, Zimmer and the Vikings aren't gonna take
this game lightly. So I would actually, in it's rare,
have a lean on the Vikings minus tent all Right,
the game I'm doing, I'm doing a game for Fox
the sideline. Um, the Bears are three and a half

(01:44:20):
point favorites in Miami, Bears coming off a bye week,
Miami coming off a game which they had a big
leader early and then all of a sudden got boat
raced by Cincinnati. Um uh, what you're leaning that game?
I this is one where the there's sharp professionals on
both sides. I think the more common side, and what

(01:44:41):
I call it is the guys that were duct tape
around their shoes, their professional batters, and they were duct
tape because they don't quite make enough money to buy
new shoes. But they don't have a job. And what
they're thinking is all the Dolphins last week, they should
have had that game. They were up seventeen three, there
was two interception returns, and oh now there's an overreaction

(01:45:05):
them losing that game. And I think there's some truth
to that. But here's where they really sharps are with me,
wink wink. Road favorites with thirteen or more days rest,
so really a bye effectively thirteen or more days rest.
Since two thousand two, are sixty winners twenty two losers

(01:45:26):
against the spread, Doug. That's seventy three percent. And think
of the logic of it. The logic is, well, what's
the problem with road favorites. They tend to look ahead
because they know they're better than the team. They're so
good they're actually favored on the road against your opponent.
But when you have a bye, you're not gonna be
looking ahead. You've had your week off, now you're ready

(01:45:48):
to play some football. So when you have the better
team on the road with focus se against the spread,
and oh, by the way, this line was three just
this morning. It's up to three and a half right now.
Because the Sharps are with me. Doug Gallup show, Fox
Sports raded. The Sharps are with him. Although the Washing
Redskins had playing time off and they got stumped by

(01:46:09):
the the worldan st they weren't road favorites. But I
had this kid, I had the Skins that I get too, though,
I must admit, yeah, I mean, if you think that
much time off and first play, they can't even figure
out figure out the Saints. It's really the real quick
The great analogy here is, and you, being a athlete
that you know understands the highest level of competition, I
think this is gonna resonate with you. What's the difference

(01:46:33):
between the club champion in golf and a guy on
the tour, right, it's those two or three shots around
the point with with that thin lie. That's the difference.
Quite frankly, like when a wise guy, when a sharp says, oh,
I like the Skins, it's not gonna win sixty it's

(01:46:54):
gonna win fifty five percent of the time. A drunk
baby flipping coins wins of the time. The difference is
one in twenty games, you've got that little extra value
and you win that twentieth game. Um, Tampa Buccaneers come
in and they've had a week off and they have
Jamis Winston back at quarterback. Yet Atlanta coming in and
looking their wounds after getting stomped by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

(01:47:17):
Atlanta is a team that they played everybody close up
until last week, but now the sudden they're in desperation mode.
I know this is one of your best bets of
the week. Which side of which side of the coin
are young? Let me ask you a quick question, Winston Fitzpatrick,
given the current givens, do you think Winston is an upgrade? Yes,
M see. It's interesting because I actually think it's a

(01:47:39):
potential where in the locker room they know this is
about his contract. If Winston had a three three years
left or if it wasn't like we gotta figure out
what we got with this guy. Ultimately, finally I wonder
if he'd be starting here. But I really like the Falcons.
It's three and a half dog. Now think about this.
We talked about it every week. Home field advantage in

(01:48:02):
the NFL is three points. The Falcons at home. If
they were even teams against Tampa Bay would be three.
It's three and a half. You're telling me Tampa is
only a half point the lesser team compared to Atlanta. Now,
I get it, Atlanta has some injuries. Oh actually, I
just had one of my guys say it's down to

(01:48:24):
three even so wow. I mean, you're right. There has
been significant injuries on the defense for the Falcons, and
I don't think they're near as good of a team
as we thought they were starting the year. But let
me give you one example. We talked about the look
aheadline last week. If you had bet this game, Atlanta
was favored by six and a half. Now they're favored

(01:48:45):
by three. It's just because they got beat so bad
by Pittsburgh. And again that was a bad loss. Down
grade I'm a point. But we're still getting a ton
of value on the Falcons lane only a field goal now,
assuming these are even teams against Tampa by no way.
All right, Cincinnati in first place to get the Steelers
coming in the Steelers still have some off field issues.

(01:49:05):
They're trying to figure out the Levy on Bell deal.
But they did uh, they did blow out the said Falcons.
This game is always a vicious game, you know, Vontes
perfect of course. On the other side of the football,
what was your leane Steelers Bengals. Oh, I actually one
of my best bets of the week on the Steelers.
Pittsburgh to me is the easiest team in the NFL

(01:49:26):
to handicap either pass or fadom unless it's a must win.
And I don't mean kind of almost a must win,
because if it's almost a must win, they're hanging out
playing PlayStation three. They're not worried yet. And again, as
a Steeler fan, I hate this because we don't get
home field even when we do make the playoffs. And

(01:49:48):
you know, again, I guess we're a little spoiled, but
hasn't made a super Bowl since two thousand ten. But boy,
when they have a true must win, they play as
well as anybody typically And right now, I know they
won last week, but boy, if they lose this game
against a hated rival, it's gonna be a lot of problems.

(01:50:09):
And we're getting two and a half with Pittsburgh. And oh,
by the way, here's the clincher. Steelers at Cincinnati last
twenty nine times twenty four and five straight up twenty
one and eight against the spread, winning by an average
of nine points. There's been seven times the Bengals had
a better record like they do now in those twenty

(01:50:30):
nine occurrent or thirty occurrences in those oh I'm sorry,
twenty nine seven times Bankers had a better record Pittsburgh
in those games seven and oh straight up six and
one against the spread. Why is it just a fluke? No,
it's Pittsburgh. A lot of people don't realize is like
a two and a half hour, three hour drive. The
Cincinnati Bengals don't have the best fans at home. Typically

(01:50:52):
Pittsburgh takes over half that stadium and they're very comfortable there.
Give me the Steelers getting points, all right. You can

the Niners Monday night. As you guys just talked about
wide receivers Rundal Cobb and Geronimo Allison returning to practice
from injuries. The Winnipeg Jets stick out the Predators in

Scott says the conference made procedural mistakes and replay following
a controversial call in a game between USC and Washington
State last month. The reports that a Packed twelve official
called in and overruled the decision made by the replay
supervisor in that September twenty one game. In baseball, Brewers
announced Picture Geo Gonzalez will start Game one of the
NLCS tomorrow against the Dodgers. You'll see it on Fox

(01:52:40):
Sports one. St. Louis Cardinal's recent picture Adam waynewright to
a one year deal. And finally, in the NBA, Minnesota
Timberwolves reportedly held a player's own meeting today, led by
Jimmy Butler. That's according to The Athletic. Some of the
Timberwolves players are refuting that report, but the Timberwolves didn't
practice today, a day after Butler head is out first
during pract this and then his interview with ESPN do

(01:53:03):
great stuff, Dan Buyer, excellent, excellent stuff. You know, it's interesting.
I I want to talk a little NBA and the
Lakers as well as Jimmy Butler and then Ryan Music,
Like you know what I'm sick of is like people
making Ryan I'll let you say it. You you don't
like people making assessments of the Lakers based upon the preseason, right?
I get it. Like we're all excited about the NBA.

(01:53:23):
The NBA's becoming a bigger league than it ever used
to be. And we did this with the NFL where
we start like we're so excited when it's back. We
analyzed these preseason games and then it's like in the
end we end up going like, oh my gosh, I
can't believe we actually tried to have opinions and analysis
on preseason games. And that's what the NBA is becoming.
And look, I'm a Lakers fan, so I'm excited anyone

(01:53:45):
else about having Lebron James on the Lakers, and it's
great to have the NBA back. But like today, you
see on like other shows and across the sports landscape,
it's like, oh, yeah, last night I saw this and
that from Lebron, and then the way him and Lonzo
are like teaming up, like, hold on, I thought the
whole narrative about the NBA for the past like five
years has been it's such a long regular season. There's

(01:54:06):
eighty two regular season games. Even those games don't matter
on a game to game basis. That's why guys take
time for rest. And so if you're telling me the
regular season doesn't really matter, you expect me to believe
that there's some sort of big takeaway analysis we can
get from one preseason game, Like come on, I I
didn't want I wasn't doing the big takeaway analysis. I watched,

(01:54:28):
and I think some of the way you're referring to
is I watched the game before, which was what the
Bulls and the Pacers and Mark Jones is like, how
many wins do you think you know the Bulls are
gonna get this year? And how many wins do you
think the Pacers are gonna Like, yeah, big takeaways? I
don't love. I'm with you there. On the other hand,

(01:54:51):
it was the first time we got a chance Alonzo
ball since last season, and he looked bigger, but he
wasn't sharp. He hadn't played five on by basketball except
like the past week, and so some of that was
to be expecting someone was frankly disappointing. You know, he
shot an airball first open three. I mean I was like, oh, um,
So I don't think that it's wrong too for guys

(01:55:13):
that do it for a living to say like this
is what I said. I think I tweeted out, which
is yeah, I don't see it when I when I
look at the matchups and I look at them and
the Warriors, I don't see them even being the conversation
with starters, like it's just not like the fascination with Rondo.
I like Rondo, but remember Rondo was a backup all

(01:55:34):
of last year until injury propelled him to be in
a starter in the playoffs. And he's still a viable starter,
but he's a shell of the player he used to be.
Towards a c L. He's never been able to really shoot.
Like he's a not he's a good he's not the
defensive dynamo he was early in the league, and the
league has gone more to shooting, and he's still not
a particularly good shooter. Um. You know, I like Brandon Ingram.

(01:55:57):
He's like, uh, he's like a multiply city. He's he's
almost he's a kind of carbon copy of Kevin Durant,
only you know, he's not quite number three, but he's
more number two in terms of the copy of the copy.
Like he he he looks the part sometimes production wise
is not there. But I watched the Lakers. Sounds like,

(01:56:19):
you know what, they are better off the bench than
they've been in a long time. And probably you look
around the NBA and most benches, even the Warriors aren't
particularly strong. Like I like Janis Jupko, but you know,
after he tours a c L, I think his rookie year,
like he's been a tenth eleventh guy. You know, there's
still Jordan's Bell, They're still Kevon Looney, there's still you know,

(01:56:42):
I would guess gonna use Quinn Cook as the backup
point guard. Like, the Lakers bench is far better, but
the starters, it's not close. The Warriors are better. So
I think you can use it to to get a
sense for what they're gonna try and do this year.
That's I'll give you a little We had Joe buck On.
He was talking about how like, look, I don't watch
all these games. You know, I read, I talk to people,

(01:57:03):
and I call the game when I watch a game,
and I'm gonna do a ton of basketball games this year.
One of the things I always watched for is the
first five minutes of each half, And the reason is
you can tell what somebody's trying to execute, what their
points of emphasis are, and how they're doing it, just
because the first couple of times on the court there
they're doing what they were told to do in the
locker room. And look, the rest of the game is

(01:57:25):
more interesting and maybe more important terms of winning and losing.
But you can't get a sense for things. That's basically
watching preseason basketball, Like I'm like, how's this Laker thing
gonna work out? Oh, they're really athletic. They're gonna try
and defend, switch everything, get into people, and push the
boat on offense. And then when they have to run
a set play, they'll spread you a way out and
play with no big guy never thrown them the post

(01:57:47):
unless it's Lebron. So do I agree with you Ryan
in terms of do I make some grandiose big picture No,
I think that's lame. But I think we can get
a sense of things from watching preseason hoops. All Right,
Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio, um Man, we got

(01:58:08):
a lot to get to a lot still to get
to the best team in the NFL might have gotten
even better. I'll explain next coming on Friday, in The
Doug Gotlip Show, will be broadcasting live for the Dolphins
Bears game. John middle Call will join us and we
get his take on Mitch Trabiski year two. Can he
carry the offense while the defense seems to be taking

(01:58:30):
care of itself? Plus Mark slayer at will breakdown Thursday
night football Eagles and Giants. Are we declaring the loser
legally dead? Plus five games in college five in pros.
We'll try and make you some money on some picks.
That's only in The Doug Gotleap Show only on Fox
Sports Radio. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Doug got Leap Show weekdays at noon Eastern three pm

(01:58:50):
Pacific previously on The Doug Gotleap Show because South NFL
films joining us in The Doug Gotlip Show here on
Fox Sports Radio. Are we giving Baker Mayfield too much credit?
Because the truth is they're winning by shortening the game,
not turning it over and turning it onto their defense.
I think that they have a quarterback though, who now

(01:59:11):
you can line up and play with and and you
feel pretty good about it. I mean, Mayfield has played well.
I would say that when all said and done, he's
a quarterback that has really quick feet, quick guys, a
quick delivery. He sees the field with clarity. He's really
a good balance between being kind of twitchy but being
very composed. I think they actually have They don't have

(01:59:32):
a great receiving corps, but I think they've got enough
talent with the run game. And I think they're old
line has. You know, good quarterbacks make old lines better,
as do good running backs, by the way, so I
would expect them to continue to improve. I would expect
Mayfield to continue to improve, and I think they'll be
They'll be a tough out. I'm not suggesting they'll be

(01:59:52):
in the playoffs, but they'll be a tough out. If
you missed anything from the Doug Dot Leaps Show, you
can always podcast by going to Fox Sports Radio dot cop.
Now once again, here's Doug godlie Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox
Sports Radio. Every day, this time we try and play

(02:00:13):
for you a Porsche excuse me, you have um. Every
day this time we try and get you updated on
as many stories of the day as possible. I wanna
let you know I'm broadcasting from Miami tomorrow be sideline
report for Bears Dolphins Sunday's game on Fox. Our fall
football tours, brought you by Granger for Safety and Industrial Supplies.
Grangers got your back. Visit Granger dot com. We want

(02:00:33):
to get you updated, so we get to the press.
The press. Dan Buyer hit me with many stories you
can in five minutes. Alright, I got some baseball for you.
Then an interesting news from the NFL. Let's start with
the NLCS. Tomorrow. Brewers announced their pitching rotation, at least
for the first three games. I'm gonna see any bullpen
by rotation. You may just see the rotation start with

(02:00:55):
a starter and then they'll turn it over to the bullpen.
Bullpen by committee is what I meant to say. Geo
gets All gets the start in game one, Wade Miley
in Game two, couple of lefties going up against that
Dodgers left handed lineup, and then you least Chastein would
start Game three in Los Angeles. Clayton Kershea, of course,
starts tomorrow for the Dodgers in Game one. I'm excited about.

(02:01:15):
I'm a little bummed that Milwaukee is not trying to
completely change things right and go uh and go with
the opener. I wanted to see a bullpend deal, but
it's not not meant to be in the National Football League. Tonight,
we've got the Giants home to the Eagles on Fox
covered starts at seven thirty Eastern time, Doug. The Giants
wing wearing they're all white color rush jerseys. Have you

(02:01:37):
seen Odell beckham junior shoes that he's gonna wear tonight?
Some some unique Nike ones with an oh B J
on one side? They only were those and only those
warm ups, right and uh, well they were on the
shelf tonight. I don't know if he can wear them
with the all whites tonight, but they'll be wearing their
all white jerseys against the Eagles despite being a home game.
So I thought the shoes were kind of sharp. Only

(02:02:00):
certain people can wear them. No, they look good. Um,
the all the all white Giants color rush isn't that
what the one where when they won the Super Bowl?
Do they wear all white pants when they won the
Super Bowl? A couple of times? Yeah, they they had
they won Super Bowl twenty five with their whites. Yes,
in Super Bowl twenty one they wore the blue jerseys,
but in Super Bowl twenty five against the Bills they won. Yep,

(02:02:23):
the all whites. It's a little different because then when
they made the switch to the n Y on the helmet,
they wear gray pants for a while, still have those,
but all whites. Tonight, Eagles were in their green rams.
Wide receivers Brandon Cooks and Cooper Cup practice today and
if their symptom free tomorrow, they'll be available to place
Sunday in Denver. Good thing you're not calling the game
in Denver on the sidelines, dug temperatures in the mid

(02:02:44):
twenties expected on Sunday in the forecast, I'd be into that.
It's seventy degrees every every day here, seventy seventy five
degrees and sunny. I'd be into. I'd be into one
or two days of it's uh yeah, there you go.
On October will be the fourteenth, they're gonna have Denver.
People like would be it'll it'll be seventy the next

(02:03:04):
day day like, you're probably right, But that day it
was twenty degrees. That if they're seventy the next day
was twenty degrees that day. That should be the next day.
That should be the city motto for Denver, because is
it that You're right, that's all we hear. But it's
seventy snow is gone. The snow is gone, hey and
it comes back. Everybody's got to be excited about the

(02:03:25):
Browns to win season so far, right, Well not everyone
because the Cleveland Playing Dealer reports that running back Duke
Johnson frustrated over his lack of touches. Okay, yeah, that's
what I thought as well. Yeah, this is what this is.
What happens is when guys really exposed themselves, right when
your team's finally winning, You won one game in two years.
She's like, dudes have no sense, they have no idea

(02:03:48):
where they stand in reality. By the way, the Cleveland
Browns number one running team in the Nation Football League.
So they're doing fine without you doing fine without you.
Don't need you tuck mark the calendar. Maybe you and
Hayes could go check out this game in Oklahoma State
in Arkansas. Agreeing to a home and home in college football,

(02:04:09):
still Waters get Still Water gets the game in September seven,
the return game in Fayetteville in what great will he
be in there and he's in fourth grade. Now he'll
be a sophomore in high school. Old Southwest Conference. Yeah,
there you go, Southwest Conference matchup. Sure back, get out
there and pressed. That was the Press and the Eddie

(02:04:31):
Sutton Classic. He used to coach at Arkansas before he
became the coach at oklahom Stai. Course, I was in basketball,
not in football. I am on my way to Miami
thanks to the good folks at Grange, our fall football
tour kicks off. Man, is it gonna be Is it
gonna be fun? I will try not to screw up
the sideline and become a meme. That's that's basically my
I don't want to become a meme. If you guys

(02:04:52):
have any ideas, tweet at me at Gottlieb Show. We'll
have We'll have some fun. In the meantime, I'm taking
the Eagles tonight because they're the Eagles. The Stunn Gotli Show,
