Speaker 2 (00:19):
This is the Best of the Herd with Colin cowher
on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Dear, we go on a Fride day of blazing five Friday.
We are stacked, Mike Tyson, Jake Paul Tonight Friday. Even
my wife cares about that live in Los Angeles. It's
the Herd. Wherever you may be and however you may
be listening. Thanks for Megod ask part of your day.
Jaymck is gonna be a good show today. There's a

(00:48):
lot of stuff going on at John Jones Fight tomorrow UFC.
We got Tyson and Jake Paul Tonight. We had the
Philadelphia Eagles whatever that team is, last night beating Washington
twenty six to eighteen. Good weekend. How good have we
been on Thursday night games? I feel like we nail
them every week. We Bengals was a layout those standalone

(01:08):
games take generally speaking, take like the veteran quarterback, Take
the home team, take the vetter roster. Those teams look tired, like.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Well, Siriani tried his best to lose the game.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
But yeah, so I want to talk about that. The
Eagles story is all talent and sketchy coaching. That's why
half to half, quarter to quarter, drive to drive. You
don't know what Philadelphia's offense is against Dallas last week,
coming out of the gate against the terrible team. Their
first five drives punt, touchdown, interception, punt, fumble, and Dallas

(01:38):
is terrible. Eventually, they just out talent people like last night,
and you can do that. Look at their wins Giants, Jags, Browns,
young Washington team, but when they're on script, coaching, game planning,
they have two offensive touchdowns all year long in the
first quarter. First quarter is generally a coaching quarter that

(02:01):
especially when you have better players. Look at their wins
this year, I mean, look at him, Saints, Brown's, Giants, Bengals, Jags, Cowboys,
and again Commanders are a young team, they're thinned, they're
a little beat up. They didn't even target Terry McLaurin
once in the first half. The reality is they're a
solid team. They're probably commanders, are the best average team

(02:22):
in the league. They're the best average team, and that
may get you in seven seed. But this coaching is
gonna get exposed against the team like a Detroit, a
Kansas City of Baltimore, a Buffalo. You can't, like, you know,
you can't just be a knockout artist in boxing. That
was that was the early you know, late Mike Tyson, right,
We're gonna see him fight tonight. You gotta have a jab,
you gotta have conditioning, you have to have a good
corner men. They don't. They just have talent. I mean

(02:44):
even the Dodgers easily the best talent in baseball easily,
But against the Mets, the Padres, and the Yankees, they
had to brilliantly, masterfully from Dave Roberts, their manager, use
their resources, sparely and wisely strategy to beat teams that
they clearly had better talent then. I mean, the Mets

(03:06):
have like one great player, the Dodgers have like five,
but they still still the best team. Doesn't know is
when Kansas City gets down to the fourth quarter against
the Niners and they trailer against the Eagles, and they trail.
And that's what Andy Reid and Mahomes coaching becomes crucial.
And I just don't get what they do in Philadelphia.
It's all talent. It's dubious coaching, and talent, by the way,

(03:29):
raises the floor, but coaching raises the ceiling. Okay, talent,
a lot of talent. Make sure you're not terrible. But
the coaching is what takes good to very good and
very good to great. And I don't know on script.
This is the worst team full of good players in
the league. And by the way, Jalen Hurts a good player.

(03:51):
Last night, he was off, he was out of rhythm.
It happens. Thursday night games are tough. I totally get it,
especially against divisional rivals. But everybody in the world had
the Eagles plus you know, minus three and a half,
Philadelphia's you're gonna win that game. They got better players.
I mean, how many guys for the Washington Commanders even
start for Philadelphia? Seriously? Four five. Here's Nick Sirianni on

(04:14):
another dubious, ugly win, this one on Thursday night.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
What we talked about halftime was that, hey, this is
going to be a grimy, gritty gritty game and just
just keep going because we know we're grimey and gritty.
We know that team's grimy and gritty. A lot of
respect for them, but we just kept going. And that
was the talk a halftime, like, hey, it's a street fight,
and we just got it's not about who's tougher, it's
about who's tougher longer.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
And for the record, I understand Bengals Ravens. You get
these Thursday night games. It's division rivals. That's what the
league wants because they don't want teams getting on five
hour flights. So they want Baltimore to play at Cincinnati.
They want Washington to play the Giants, for Washington to
play Philadelphia, I get it. So these Thursday night games,
teams now in week ten and eleven, they look tired

(05:01):
on Thursday Night. I thought both teams in the first
half looked a little shot you don't hit during this
week of practice. It's walked through. So some of this
I understand, but I just the talent disparity in this
game was so substantial, and you're sitting there and you're
watching and you're thinking, you know, basically at the end,
it just Philadelphia just kept leaning on him, and Washington's

(05:23):
very thin roster ran out of gas. It wasn't anything clever.
A push push here, a Saquon Barkley run there. I
don't know. I just think eventually coaching takes good to great.
That's Kansas City's Roster's very good. It's not great, the
coaching makes it great. I think Philadelphia is eventually going
to meet a Detroit because Dan Campbell right now is

(05:45):
doing a great job coaching Ben Johnson. Dan Campbell feels
like they have a great staff. Philadelphia at quarter to quarter,
half the half, I'm not sure what I get with
that offense. Okay, so I am not precious when it
comes to sports college. I got a job in Vegas.
I love Daredevil's Robbie Knievel. I loved boxing, but I've

(06:08):
never bought into the sanctity of boxing. Now give me
a break. Do you hear yourself? It's a money grab.
So tonight Jake Paul takes on Mike Tyson. I'm in. Yesterday,
they had their stare down Tyson and his camp saying
Jake Paul stepped on his foot, Tyson slapped him, and
boxing once again is just that carnival that comes to

(06:29):
town and sets up in the mall parking lot. Half
the carnegies are ex cons. You're not sure any of
the rides are safe. You're not sure you should be
doing it. You're asking your friend is this legal? But
it's a blast. It's just a messy, dysfunctional, unhealthy blast.
So Jake, Paul and Mike Tyson count me in. It's
an elephant ear for dinner and a deep fried funnel

(06:52):
cake for dessert. You may go home and feel sick
to your stomach, but you only do it about once
a year. That's how often you care about boxing. And
perfectly placed at Jerry's world, I can hear the carnival barker,
see the dangerous man in the world, take on a
YouTube sensation, step right up. That's what this is. But

(07:13):
Mike Tyson is also the rare athlete that has mystique.
He's a little wilt tiger when he went into the
rough bo Jackson. Where does reality end and the tall
tale begin? With Tyson? I covered him in Vegas when

(07:33):
I was twenty two years old. There were a lot
of stories I can't repeat. I wouldn't put in print.
I'm not sure i'd tell people over a cocktail at
a lounge. That inappropriate, but he's endured and that's kind
of what America allows redemption. We're a little judge, build

(07:53):
you up, tear you down. For a generation of kids.
Mike Tyson's just that guy from the Hangover. Jake Paul
is favored. He's much younger, he's much bigger, a great
reach advantage, and I think Mike Tyson knows that I
tend to take pro athletes against YouTube sensations. When they meet,
I'm not really sure I'm gonna watch because I don't

(08:16):
get precious with sports, and specifically boxing. There's all sorts
of elegance in sports, like the Masters, and there's all
sorts of rules in sports we should follow. Baseball has
those Boxing it's the carnival that comes to town once
a year and sets up in the parking lot at

(08:36):
the mall. You'll eat stuff, do stuff, and question your judgment,
but in the end you look back and go, God,
that was great. I may have thrown up in the
parking lot. Never go on that worthy thing after several cocktails,
but it's a good time for a couple hours. It's
a good time, and tonight even the stare down. Count

(08:58):
me in. I'm having a deep fried funnel cake for dinner. Baby,
Count me in. J Mac, will you be watching? That's
an epic rat tell that was good. Well, by the way,
I want you to listen to this. This is what
makes Tyson so mythical. A young lady probably doing a

(09:19):
school project, asked Mike Tyson about his legacy. Listen to
his answer.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
I don't believe in the word legacy. I just think
that's another word for ego. Legacy doesn't mean nothing. That's
just some word everybody grabbed on to. Someone said that word,
and everyone grabbed on the words, and I was used
every five seconds. It means absolutely nothing to me. I'm
just passing through. I'm gonna die and it's gonna be over.
Who cared about legacy after that?

Speaker 1 (09:46):
It's terrifying.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
It's smart.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
He's like a philosopher.

Speaker 6 (09:50):
Right.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Oh hey, when I told my staff this morning, I
covered Tyson. Out of college. I got a job in
Las Vegas. I did sales brig good at it, and
there was a top ranked Jim and I would go.
Then I became a sportscaster. I would go and watch
Tyson with his camp. He was fascinating. He had a

(10:12):
nearly encyclopedic knowledge of some of boxing's history, and he
had a different voice. He did not sound like he
was the baddest man on the planet. But I thought
he was a fascinating guy. His life has been jekyline Hyde,
up and down inappropriate King of the World. It's been everything,
and he has a magnetic pull that a lot of

(10:33):
great athletes in their prime don't again to a young
group of people, he is the guy from the Hangover.
There was a time and I've seen you know, I
saw a lot of Lennox, Lewis, Evander Holyfield. He bit
his ear off right like his I've told the story
years and years ago. I had a friend Aaron Gordon,
and he fought Buster Douglas. Mike Tyson did in Japan.

(10:54):
He was a forty two to one favorite. And my
friend Aaron Gordon and I didn't have a nickel to
our names. And Aaron said, I'm gonna bet Buster Douglas
to beat Tyson at forty two to one, and I
talked him out of it. I said, don't do that.
We were at California Pizza Kitchen at the Mirage. The
Mirage was a new It was a new casino that
had a big volcano. It was a big deal. The

(11:15):
fire came out of it, believe it or not. At
one point that was like the biggest deal in Vegas, right,
the Caesars Pool and the Mirage volcano. And we're at
the California Pizza Kitchen. It is it is, I forget
Saturday afternoon and I tell my friend Aaron, going, do
not bet it. You don't have that money. He had
a girlfriend and go take her to dinner. Let's have
a piece of pizza. That night, we are both driving

(11:38):
a local rock and roll station in Vegas. Had put
it on, bought the rights or whatever. About the fourth round,
he calls me and he says, do you hear what's happening?
I would have forty two hundred dollars. He's held a
garage ever since. It was perfect for Tyson's story. He

(12:01):
lost in Japan as a forty two to one favorite,
and yet at one time, for about a seven to
ten year stretch, I think I can't recall exactly, he
was the scariest guy on the planet, and then he
was hysterical in the hangover, and then he was in
jail and now he's fighting at sixty one a YouTube sensation.
All of it is the Tyson story. That age gap
is unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
When you see the tale of the tape we flash
Jake Pole's what twenty seven fighting a guy who's what
fifty eight years That's insane.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Look at that, I mean, less than half his age.
But you know what, I'll tell you this, are you
betting this? By the way, I'm not going to get
into that. So I just texted a boxing guy. We
both know. Everybody likes ty everybody likes Jake Paul What
you just texted a boxing guy? What he said? We
both know I'm not going to I'll tell you during
the commercial break, Well, you can't. The audience wants to

(12:50):
know you're a host here now. I can't do that.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
I don't want to influence any gambling bets from people.
But I think this is musty TV.

Speaker 6 (12:57):
Tonight.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
I'm playing pickleball, but then I'll come home and for
the fight.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
You know who's never played pickleball, Mike Tyson, I don't know.
I tend to take pro athletes. I always think Kobe's
last game as a Laker. You know, you go to
you go watch a Dan Marino last game or something.
They can still spin it like it. Remember it's only
two minute rounds and there's only eight of them. Generally

(13:21):
in boxing it's three minute rounds. You know, ten rounds,
that's a whole different ballgame. So I don't think it's
gonna go eight. I will say this about Jake Paul.
I don't get precious. I think he has tried, he's committed.
I you know, he's beaten a lot of tomato cans.
But in the end, you know, and Tyson's not in
his prime. This would not be a real fight twenty

(13:42):
two years ago. So the bottom line is a watch.
I would not want to be hit with a Mike
Tyson left. I think he has taken training fairly seriously.
When I covered Tyson, there was always one thing that
was fastened many but the one thing before fights. Forty

(14:04):
eight hours before fights. He got very mean, he got
very focused, and a friend of mine, Mark Rattner, had
to be sometimes in to put you know, to look
at the gloves, and he always told the story. Mark
is now with the UFC. Wonderful guy. Mark told me
the story a couple of times. He goes, I get
I'm the last guy that gets to see Tyson and

(14:24):
the glove. When I checked the gloves and he's like,
you don't want to be in that room. Mike turns
dark as by the way, many great fighters. I mean,
I wouldn't have the courage to do that. So I've
noticed this week he's gotten surly. So that tells me
he's taking it seriously. When Mike feels threatened, what he gets,
even at that, even at that stare down, he felt threatened.

(14:46):
Mike lashes, But so that means he is working. He
just absorbed the slap to the face, didn't budge Jack.
Paul's a large human jock. I don't feel great for
Tyson him. We just kept rooting for him because we're
both old guys. Well well, okay, don't think for that all.

Speaker 2 (15:04):

Speaker 1 (15:13):
So Saquon Barkley was predictably great. It is amazing to
me as the New York Giants struggle that their general
manager Joe Shane, paid Daniel Jones one hundred and sixty
million and then let Saquon Barkley walk to their rival.
Can you imagine the Baltimore Ravens allowing Lamar Jackson right now,
in his prime, to go to the Steelers. That's what

(15:35):
it's like. Or the Celtics saying, hey, Lakers, you can
rebuild your franchise. We'll give you Jason Tatum, give us
some draft picks. Saquon Barkley was twenty seven. He was
in his prime. This was not Joe Namath going to
the La Rams. He was in his prime. He wanted
to be a New York Giant for life. I have
multiple quotes. I'm staring at here, and there's just certain
things you can't do as an organization in the NFL.

(15:56):
If if you're a general manager, you can't overpay. Why
overpay a bad quarterback? The Giants did it, And you
can't let your best player go to your rival unpardonable sins.
I could never if I owned the Eagles or if
I own the New York Giants, I could never. I
mean the son, Joe Shane's son, remember that he told

(16:18):
him draft Jade and Daniel's dad, you only get this
job once. Remember the HBO stuff. And I mean it's
like that's it. The kid knew. So as I watched
Saquon Barkley, the first thing I always think about is
the New York Giants overpaid for Daniel Jones. Now they're stuck.
There was just a great quarterback draft. Not interested. Now
you go into a bad quarterback draft and cross your

(16:40):
fingers you get the one great player should her Sanders.
So it's just you know people, and I'm you know.
The Dolphins did this a little bit with Wes Welker,
letting him go to the Patriots. But Wes Welker became
a star with Tom Brady. He wasn't a superstar. Take one.
Barkley was arguably the first or second back best back
in the league after Christian McCaffrey. And so you start

(17:00):
looking at who the teams that are drafting at the
top of the draft. This year, we show that chart
about once a week. We update you on the draft order.
It's all self inflicted wounds. The Giants are all self inflicted.
They did the two things you can't do, paid an
average quarterback below average quarterback massive money, and they let
Saquon Barkley go. I can't watch him and not think
of the New York Giants. I literally, there's a quote

(17:21):
here he goes, I want to be a Giant for life.
I mentioned that I want to be in the likes
of Tiki and Michael Strahan and Eli Manning. And you
let him go to the Eagles. That is Lamar Jackson.
Baltimore is like, you know, we like him, he's very expensive,
and he goes to the Steelers. I just and he
just he's a good guy. Saquon uh. And it was
a weird game that the Eagles pulled away late with

(17:43):
a couple of his runs.

Speaker 6 (17:44):
Here Saquon just knowing you know, you're right there, You're
so close, You're so close, and there's some game sometimes
where you're so close you don'tet the opportunity to to
you know, bus open and break it through. The most
important thing to do is one football games. And we
put ourselves in position to do that. We got a
better job at secuteron all around, and when it plays
need to be maybe we gotta make those plays. And

(18:05):
we have those guys to do to in.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
His locker room. By the way, when a great player
tells you I want to be on this team for
life and is willing to say it publicly, believe him.
I mean, how in the world can you not afford
your best player. It's like, to a lesser degree, the
Jets firing Robert Slay. He's your best coach on the staff.

(18:27):
The defense has gotten worse, the offense is worse. The
Jets and the Giants are bad. Because of the Jets
and the Giants. It's so poorly run, so many mistakes.
I cannot watch Saquon Barkley and not think to myself,
that's Lamar going to the Steelers. Different position, but same thing.
He was the soul of the New York Giants. Let
him go.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Herd Weekdays
and newon Easter. Not a im pacific.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
All right, here we go, off a bad week, off
a rough week of blazing five.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Let's blaze it up, Fired up. It's Collins Blazing five.
Ravens at Steelers.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
I'm gonna take Pittsburgh plus three and a half at home.
This is a battle for first place. They've won seven
of eight games against the Ravens, all decided by one possession.
I'm taking more than a field goal. Russell Wilson, let's
not kid ourselves here. I don't care what you think
about him. Third highest passer rating in the NFL this
season and a perfect passer rating in the fourth quarter.
He's been money. He's been tremendous, latent games, and they

(19:25):
have a great defense, number two scoring defense Baltimore. Even
if they outplay you, the back end is awful. Lamar
against the Steelers, he's been bad. He's been bad. And
by the way, this team at eleven penalties, trailed the
Bengals at half. They keep games close even when they
outplayed teams because of that defense on the back end.

(19:45):
I like the Steelers upset win in a great rivalry
twenty eight to twenty seven. And you know I love
the Ravens Colts, said Jet. I'm taking the Colts plus four.
The Jets shouldn't be favored over over Georgia by four.
Gig God, they're awful. The Colts get Anthony Richardson Beck,
He's explosive. The Jets struggled with Kyler Murray. The defense

(20:07):
for the Colts top ten scoring defense. It's Week six
and I like their offensive line. I think they'll run
the football and play keep away. The Jets are one
in six over their last seven. If you go to
since week four, and look at the Jets stats. What
do they do well? Their defense is twenty six rank,
their offense Aaron Rodgers twenty ninth in completion percentage since

(20:27):
Week four, fifteen points a game. How can they be
favored by four over anybody. I'm not sure the locker
room has gotten me juice in it. I think the Colts.
This is a desperation spot for this team. I like
the Colts to win. I'll take the points twenty four
to twenty three.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Browns at sake.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
I can't believe I'm doing this. I'm taking Jameis Winston
on the road minus one. I like Cleveland. Here. Listen,
Jameis Winston is a yard a game better in one
hundred yards total offense, better than Deshaun Watson. He's a
little goofy. He throws some picks, but it's like a
real offense. Stefans Key extra rest coming off of bye.
Clever offensive coach. Keep your eye on Cedric Tillman. He's

(21:07):
emerging as a young star. Wide receiver. Miles Garrett had
three sacks against the Chargers. He still dominates. The Saints
are a mess. One in seven over their last eight.
The defense has allowed twenty four plays of thirty yards
or more. They surrender a ton of big plays. The
Saints defense since Week three has gone in to the tank.

(21:29):
Latimore's now gone, He's off to Washington. I think the
Browns win this game. Jamis Winston makes me excited if
you're a Browns fan. He's fun to watch. Twenty eight
twenty four Browns. She said, Bills, you're giving me Patrick
Mahomes and points he's got a fifteen game winning streak.
They are missing Harrison, Butker they're a great kicker. Jaymack

(21:49):
points that out. Maybe that's a thing, but Malmes. Patrick
Mahomes has been great against this team. Fifteen touchdowns, five
picks and DeAndre Hopkins. Wow. Before he got there, the
Chiefs gave you two hundred and thirty one yards passing.
Now they give you two hundred and seventy three yards passing.
The passer rating has gone from eighty two pre d

(22:11):
Hop Mahomes passer rating now is one oh two with
d Hop. It's a different offense and this worries me.
The offense three straight games for the Bills season high
in pass attempts. They're doing what I hate, becoming very
Josh Allen reliant and because of that now he's got
four picks. Josh Allen does in the last three games.

(22:34):
Phil's also have seventeen different players on the injury report.
They're not going to have coleman Kin, Cater Cooper potentially.
I am taking the d Hop Mahomes, Travis Kelsey, Chiefs
and the points twenty eight to twenty.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
Seven Bengals at Charge.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Heres I like Cincinnati here offensive coach Joe Burrow with
extra rest. They played in a Thursday. Now they don't
have to play till Monday. Five of their six losses
by six points or fewer, a more desperate team. Joe
Burrow leads the NFL in passing yards, touchdown passes second,
and passerready. Burrell's having an unbelievable season. And by the way,

(23:12):
do you know the Bengals have the leader in passing
yards Burrow, receiving yard Jamar Chase, and defensive sacks Hendrickson.
They're top heavy, but they got playmakers. And the Chargers
three wins have come against the Saints, Browns, and Titans.
On this winning streak, I worry and the Chargers do
not have the big play offense that burns Cincinnati twentieth.

(23:35):
Are the Chargers in big plays? This feels like an upset.
I'm gonna take the Bengals. I don't like the Chargers
in this spot. Twenty four to twenty for the records.
I do not bet huge spreads. It's my number one rule.
If I had to bet the Lions at home minus

(23:57):
fourteen against the Jags, I would take the line. They
played poorly in one. That's a great time for a
coaching staff to coach a team hard when you win,
but you play lousy football for three quarters. I think
Dan Campbell's team will come out totally focused. Lions will
blow him out against Mac Jones Blazing five j Mack.

(24:18):
Anything there you liked?

Played thirteen seasons in the NFL, signed by the Cowboys
after going undrafted back in nineteen eighty two from Duke
Adukie A smart guy. Love having him on NFL Network.
WATCHNFL dot Com Personalized views of the NFL schedule. Brian
Baldinger is joining us the NFL network analysts be and
a really good one. You know, it's interesting media testing.

(24:56):
The media is younger than it's ever been. It's more corporate,
and it's I guess younger media people are a little
less expensive, and so when they see something, it's often
for the first time and they overreact. And I'll give
you an example. Running backs are dead. The running game
is over. And I'm like, guys, take a deep breath.
Everybody wants to sake one Barkley, Right, you've really been

(25:19):
banging on this that the running game is not only back,
but it's flourishing this year.

Speaker 7 (25:26):
It is Colin And all you have to do is
watch the Eagles last night. In fact, the Eagles, who
won now six in a row, they've run the ball
almost one hundred more times than they've thrown it this year.
They'd leave the league in run past ratio. But Philadelphia
is not alone. Baltimore is in that category with Derek
Henry and Lamar Pittsburgh's in that category. Arizona is in

(25:47):
that category. Detroit runs it more than they throw it.
Minnesota and Green Bay are both about fifty to fifty.

Speaker 8 (25:53):
Yeah, I mean the best.

Speaker 7 (25:54):
Teams in this league right now are running it more
than they're throwing it. And I've been tracking it since
Joe Brady took over in Buffalo last year. They turned
the season around. They've continued that trend. They've turned it
over less, they've won more, and here they are, you know,
hosting Kansas City this week.

Speaker 4 (26:11):
Colin.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
You know, I wonder if I think sports is cyclic O'Brian,
And my take is, as we rush quarterbacks into the
league and demand they play early, that's what we're doing now.
It's just asking too much and they hit ratio dips.
So my guess would be baldy. They're doing this because
they went, you know what, we're asking these quarterbacks to

(26:34):
do too much. Let's give him. I mean, see I
love CJ. Stroud. The minute Joe Mixon doesn't play, he's
not the same quarterback. So my take is that's why
it's happening to help young quarterbacks.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
The run game is a best friend. I mean, that's
an old adage that still holds up. Defenses are playing
a lot more safeties back and used to be Colin,
if you you played cover two to stop the ball
from going over your head, that was fine. The way
to get out of it is to run him out
of make them drop the safety down, make him go
single high, get an extra guy down there to stop
the run. And teams are even reluctant to do that

(27:08):
right now. They just don't want to get beat by
the big play. That'd rather bleed a little slower against
the run. And that's what some teams are willing to
do right now. But what happens in those games is
it shrinks the game. Instead of getting twelve possessions in offense,
you might only get eight possessions. Yes, so it shrinks
the game. It gives the other team fewer opportunities to score.

(27:30):
So all of it are kind of following that trend
right now.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
So Ravens and Steelers I tend to like the underdog
whenever they play. Are you surprised or how surprised at
Russell Wilson's efficiency return of the deep ball his fourth
quarter play you get the old rush, there's not really
many turnovers. It looks like about eighty five percent of
Seattle russ not quite as elusive. Are you surprised at all?

Speaker 8 (28:00):
Not really?

Speaker 7 (28:01):
Because of the style that Mike Tomlin wants to play
and a lot of it is a little bit like
he played in Seattle with Pete Carroll, I mean with
beast Boat. They were a run first team in Seattle.
He had to make some plays to throughout the game,
you know, and he had the.

Speaker 8 (28:13):
Receivers to do it. And it's very similar in Pittsburgh.
Right now.

Speaker 7 (28:16):
They've got they've got a staunch defense, they take the
ball away, they run the ball right now, they've got
both Nage Harris and Jalen Warren and Prudero Patterson and
so now you know throw the game went up to
Mike Williams last week to beat Washington.

Speaker 8 (28:32):
He's doing enough right now.

Speaker 7 (28:34):
He doesn't have to do too much like he had
to do with the end in Seattle, like he had
to do last year in Denver, where the roster was
a very good round him. The roster's really good and
he's taking advantage of that right now.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Yeah, the Chiefs and Bills, I think there is some
psychology at play here. You start, you keep winning the
game over and over and over and over. Did you
ever have a rivalry game in your career where you
just couldn't get over the hump with a team, Because
I feel like Buffalo's got the pieces and has multiple times.

(29:07):
But even when they left Kansas City just thirteen seconds,
they figured out a way to win. Did you ever
have a game like that where you kind of felt
like we can't quite get a team's number.

Speaker 8 (29:21):
I would say I never really had that experience.

Speaker 7 (29:24):
I mean when I was in Philadelphia, you know, Washington
and the Giants, you know obviously in Dallas, I mean
those we went back and forth, ye brows. In Dallas
we lost. We destroyed Washington. In the regular season, we
lost to an NFC championship game. I could still hear,
you know that song in my head, Hail to the Redskins,
and it never really goes away from you. And I'm

(29:45):
in some ways that might be reverberating in Buffalo's head
when it gets to the postseason right now, and that's
where you know they have come up short against Chris Jones.
That defense of my homes in the postseason. Regular season
has been a little bit different between these two teams.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Yeah, I want to end with this and take some
time on it. I was a kid. I can remember
watching a show when I was a kid in Seattle.
It was like a morning show and with with I
won't go too deep into the weeds. But they announced
the Muhammad Ali. He had beaten George Foreman and Zaiere
like it was that big boxing was like front End
Center as a kid show. They broke in and said, yeah,

(30:24):
I beat him. And then I went to Vegas out
of college and I covered, you know, I went to
a Hagler Herns fight and many Tyson fights. So I
just fell in love with a sport and that the
event feel of it and the the nervous anxiety even
as a reporter covering it. So I've followed Tyson's career,
so of you, I'll watch tonight. Boxing's always been a
bit of a money grabbing a circus, but at its

(30:46):
best it's riveting. Will you watch tonight?

Speaker 4 (30:51):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (30:51):
Absolutely.

Speaker 7 (30:53):
I was going to go to the fight down in
Arlington this summer before it was canceled, delay, whatever. There's
nothing that's gonna make me miss that fight tonight. I
mean I was there in the parking lot at Caesars
to watch Duran Hagler back in the day. I was
there in Atlantic City, Colin when Tyson beats Space in
ninety one seconds, and people literally they'd never seen anything

(31:14):
like it. They never seen that level of violence and
attack the way Tyson went to space that night, and
so there's nothing. I mean, these events and the way
that you sort of counts this, you know, building up
to this thing today, just listening has been great. It
is it's a carnival, it's a circus, and it's setting
up shopping in Arlington tonight, and I expect to see

(31:38):
everything that goes with the circus, the freak show, the
trapeze artist.

Speaker 8 (31:43):
I expect to see the whole thing in that ring tonight.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
I do so. It's two minute rounds, not three. Advantage Tyson,
only eight rounds not ten. The gloves are bigger, probably
an advantage for Jake Paul. I think they're going from
like ten ounce to fourteen. I kind of, I guess
would side with Tyson, but I think if it goes

(32:06):
like late third or fourth, then I would take Jake
Paul because he's a young athlete, better cardio. Do you
have a feeling in the fight.

Speaker 7 (32:15):
Oh, I have a feeling for Tyson, and not just
because I'm a Tyson fan and everything that he's overcome.
He's got nothing to lose nothing, I mean, nobody's gonna
charge his record has been tarnished by Buster Douglas and
all kinds of events out of the ring. But I mean,
he's got nothing to lose in his ring, and Jake
Paul can put up his record in his eleven fights.

(32:36):
He's never seen an animal like this before. There's no
way to even prepare for the assault. You could talk
about reach advantage and all that. Joe Frazier never had
reach advantage. Tyson never had reach advantage. Yet he would
just attack and take that advantage away and just eliminate
by just coming in with his head and bobbing and
weaving right there. And he's going to come in with
an assault like just the assault that he's going to

(32:58):
put on Jake Paul, and I I don't know if
he's going to be able to withstand him that if
it to your point, if it goes to the fourth round,
maybe just gases out. But I think he's willing to
gas out right here and to try and end this
thing early right now. And I mean, the power I
think is still there, whether it's fourteen ounce gloves or
ten ounce gloves. I think the way that he hits

(33:19):
it still feels like an anvil would it hits your body.
I don't think that's changed at all.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
Brian Baldinger, NFL Network analyst and a good one. We
love having you on. Say hello to your mother. You
told me your mother is a fan of the show.
You said, yeah, absolutely, so waved him on.

Speaker 7 (33:34):
I mean, she's one of your Fantasy League column She's
in good spirits right now

Speaker 1 (33:38):
So it's all good, all right, buddy, Good seeing you
