Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Here we go. It's hour two. It is a Tuesday,
kind of a busy day in America, live in Los Angeles.
It's The Herd. Wherever you may be and however you
may be listening. Thanks for making us part of your day.
Julian Edelman. Last hour, Nick Wright in five minutes, as
he is a regularly scheduled every week. Last week we
had Danny Parkins. They were doing the World Series. By
the way, I've got one of the Dodgers on the

(00:47):
show Friday, still soaking it up. So today's NFL trade deadline. Now,
we said we don't like the Cowboys move. We didn't
like the trade Lance move, we don't like the Mingo,
the wide receiver move. Neither of those players is worth
a fourth round pick. Here is a very smart move.
The Washington Commanders just wrestled away Pro Bowl cornerback Marshawn

(01:08):
Lattimore from the Saints. Don't know what they gave up,
probably a second or a third round pick. He's twenty eight,
He's an elite corner, a former Ohio State buckuy really
really good player. And this with Jay McK and I
have been on this for a month. Washington had to
get better in the back end of their defense. If
you're playing Detroit, a San Francisco, a Philadelphia, a Rams,

(01:29):
A Green Band in the playoffs, you're gonna have leads.
You gotta protect them. So Latimore is an excellent corner.
The Saints smartly know they're mailing it in. The Saints
are like, let's get draft picks, let's draft a quarterback.
Let's get more good players, potentially maybe a quarterback, maybe
stick with Derek Carr. Unlike the Cowboys, the Saints are
acknowledging we're not gonna be We're not good enough. We're

(01:51):
not good enough. So you take Latimore. It's a great
get for Washington because you're not paying Jayden Daniels anything
for four years. This is what you do when you
have a rookie quarterback on a rookie deal. You go
get elite players that elevate your quarterback. So they went
and got Lattimore. Multiple teams were interested. He's got a
hamstring issue. He didn't need to play immediately.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
They're on a.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Winning streak first place, they're playing great. But what you're
what you're getting them for is Thanksgiving on when you're
in division games, and for January and February potentially when
you're playing the best quarterbacks in the league. So we
call it the Herd hierarchy. Every week top ten teams
in the NFL. It is Tuesday, and here we go.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Heard Hierarchy time. Now go the top ten NFL teams
according to College Number ten.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Well Jordan loves not healthy. He leads the NFL and
picks seven straight starts with an interception, longest streak by
a Packer quarterback since Brett Farb And I think it's
a thing. I think Green Bay can make mistakes, but
they can't make him against San Francisco, they can't make
him against Detroit, and this weekend the mistakes caught up.
I still like this team a lot. The schedule's getting

(03:05):
very interesting. After the buy for them, Niners, Dolphins, Lions,
they got to clean some stuff up, but I put
him at number ten. Number nine. The Chargers, I probably
have low number one scoring defense, first team to hold
opponents to twenty points reviewer in each of their first
eight games since the Patriots five years ago. Opposing quarterbacks
have a seventy five passer rating. Justin Herbert. He's not

(03:28):
throwing that much and he's not making any mistakes. Can
you imagine this defense went from a tire fire with
Brandon Staley to the best, arguably after Kansas City in
the league with mostly the same personnel Herbert, Harbaugh, Khalil
mack Bosa. The wide receivers were healthy this week and
looked good enough. They feel a little like Kansas City.

(03:50):
You wish they were a little deeper at wide receiver, coach, quarterback,
pass rush, run game. They're good. Chargers nine, number eight,
Steelers at eight. They did beat the Chargers, although Herbert
was hurt. Russell Wilson, listen, he's not making any mistakes
and he's getting the ball to George Pickens. So George
Pickens since Russell took over, has multiple touchdowns. He had

(04:12):
a touchdown called back. He's got one hundred and fifty
plus yards. They're leaning on their best receiver. Russell's not
making mistakes, Najie Harris is carrying the ball. They've got
a great pass rush. I think the ceiling is lower
than it is for teams like Green Bay and the Chargers,
but right now, healthy, good, no mistakes, good coach and defense.

(04:33):
I have Pittsburgh at eight. Number seven. I think the
Commanders have a much higher ceiling, especially since getting Marcus Lattimore.
Seven of eight games. They're only lost to the Ravens,
and they were competitive in that number three rushing offense,
number three total offense. It kind of feels like CJ.
Stroud his rookie year. You're like, do we have a
top ten quarterback now? I think Jayden Daniels right now

(04:54):
is a top ten quarterback. I think he's that good.
Thirteen total touchdowns and two turnovers. That's never been done
with a rookie quarterback in their first nine starts. He's
got the poise of a twenty nine year old, thirty
year old, thirty one year old quarterback. And they just
got better in the secondary.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Number six.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
I love the roster. The coach drives me nuts. Philadelphia.
They're four to zero since the buye and since the
buye Jalen Hurts seventy two percent completion percentage during the
four game winning streak. Basically, they put some borders around him.
AJ Brown will come back, they'll be even better. But basically,
the last three seasons, this team doesn't lose. They're fourteen
and one when Jalen Hurts doesn't turn it over. So

(05:35):
they finally looked at the analytics and said, let's take
away the risks. Let's run Jalen Hurts a few more times,
let's not throw it quite as much, and if we
don't turn it over, we win the games. I still
think their coach scares me in big spots, but I
have the Eagles at six, number five San Francisco. I
was a seller early, I'm a buyer now because Jennings

(05:56):
and Christian McCaffery are coming back. Listen, they outgain opponents
by ninety eight yards a game. That is something that's
the best in the NFL. They have the second highest
graded offense PFF in the NFL. And again, now they
get Jordan Mason Moves to backup running back and McCaffrey
will make them a better red zone offense. So they're
and they're and they're but the thing is now they're
not like the previous niners. They're three to zero when

(06:17):
Purty doesn't have a turnover, so they they're margins of shrunk.
They're not as dominating. They are beat up more. You know,
they're they're gonna beat you, but they're not gonna hammer
you like they did three years ago when Kittle was
closer to his prime and Deebo wasn't as banged up.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Number four Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
I mean, it's really remarkable how Josh Allen stopped turning
the ball over. And that's the story. It's the same team.
I don't know if I trust them in a big spot.
Will McDermott get conservative, But basically it's the same team
as last year without the turnovers, and that's a really
good football team. Josh Allen has more touchdowns than Saxon
turnovers combined. So it's we always said, if you could

(06:56):
get rid of the reckless, Josh Allen is the second
best quarterback in the league in their day. Interest well,
they're out of the reckless and he's got more weapons
on offense. So I have them at number four. Number
three the Ravens. Again, it's a January trust issue. It's
not a regular season issue. Number One, total offense only
team averaging seven yards of play. I don't know how
great Denver's defense is, but they were reeling and they

(07:16):
did whatever they wanted to. And I think the other
thing is this team's really smart. Derrick Henry is such
a good ad for them. So it's like this two
pronged run game. You can't cheat. Play action works more effectively.
Lamar Jackson now has bigger windows to throw in because
you not only have to be honest when you're facing Lamar,

(07:38):
now you've got Derrick Henry. So it just leaves linebackers
clinging to the defensive line, and the gap between linebacker
and safety is greater than ever, and Lamar's taken advantage
of it.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Number two.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Listen, it's really close, but I would take Andy Reid
Mahomes over Golf and Dan Campbell. They have more touchdowns
than in completions during this six game winning streak. They're healthy,
they're physical. Zadarius Smith is a nice ad. He's not Hutchison.
I mean, they're averaging thirty two points a game. That's
like a college team. But again, if you're asking me

(08:11):
to stack him against Kansas, City playoff football is coaching
and quarterback play. Mahomes is more of an athlete than golf,
and Andy Reid is the best coach arguably in the
sports history. I put Detroit at two number one. What's
interesting with Kansas City it's the opposite of the Tyreek
Hill offense. They actually lead the NFL in time of possession.

(08:32):
They've become this methodical, boring, three point seven yard to
carry run game that remains undaunted on third down. So
you get all the high leverage brilliance, all the great
coaching and quarterback play, the best coordinator on the defensive side.
Now they're just kind of boring. I mean, that's why
Tampa Bay not going for the win last night makes

(08:54):
no sense. All right, sign up for six and a
half more minutes of torture for Mahomes bags, Chris Jones,
Travis Kelce, and Patrick Mahomes. So they've they've the Kansas
City has pivoted from this wild circus two years ago
over the top to a methodical run team. It's New England.
We're going to do what we have to do, what
is our person And by the way, they don't even

(09:16):
have their home run hit or at running back. I
got a guy that pulled off the street at running back,
and there's your top ten. And with that, Nick Wright
coholes first things first, joining me live, I have the
Texans at eleven. A lot of it's Nico Collins comes back.
I probably have the Texans in. I don't think they're

(09:36):
quite the same team. Anything that jumps out at you.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
With the top ten, I'd have the Bengals in place
of the Chargers. I think there's ceilings higher. Now, listen,
I watched yesterday and I'm My only concern with yesterday's
show is is Justin Herbert going to put out a
restraining order against you and his coach?

Speaker 3 (09:54):
My god, what a five minute love letter.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
The toughest player ever, the best kid in the history
of the league. I mean, I get it. Seems like
a nice enough fella. I think the Chargers. I would
take the Bengals with higher upside than the Chargers. My
other question to you is the Texans. I think that
if they don't address the interior of their offensive line,
CJ is gonna get killed. Yeah, and I don't know

(10:18):
that you can address that. That's the hardest thing to
address that the trade deadline, if the Cowboys were smart,
they would consider trading future Hall of Famer thirty four
year old Zach Martin, Yes to a Texan seem for
a premium, But instead they're buying at the absolute, you know,
paying two hundred cents on the dollar for Mingo from
the Panthers. The one question hied for you how close

(10:40):
were the Falcons colin after the shaky start?

Speaker 3 (10:43):
They are kind of what I think you thought they
could be.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Is from an offensive perspective, Yeah, I think the Falcons
have a case over the Packers.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Maybe.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Yeah, here's my problem with the Falcons. They're a finesse
team with no pass rush. The Chargers are a physical
team with an excellent pass rush. And I don't think
defense wins championships, and it won't even for the Chiefs.
But you've got to be able to situationally make the
other star quarterback uncomfortable.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
Atlanta, that's fair.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Never does I want to ask you about this because
I think we both believe in analytics. I think it
can make baseball a bit more boring and stylistically. I
think it hurts basketball, But I think in football, unless
you really go into the weeds, you don't really notice it.
Mostly go for it once you cross midfield the idea

(11:31):
and this is why I bang on defensive coaches. I'm
on the road. I can win it now. I compare
it to the Minnesota Golden Golfers being in Columbus. They
can win the game with a two point conversion and
they go, no, we want to face we want to
face the buck Eyes in overtime. I was shocked Tampa
didn't go for it.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
You yep?

Speaker 4 (11:51):
So I think everyone has this wrong. I actually think
they did the right thing. And here's why, because they
wouldn't have won it right there to say they get it. Okay,
So now Mahomes needs twenty five yards in thirty seconds
with three timeouts, and they're going for it on fourth down.
I didn't hate this Week one Baltimore. Likely he doesn't

(12:16):
score because his foots out of bounds, but let's say
he scores. That's the final play of the game. There,
you have to go for two. It's a no brainer.
You can end the game. But I thought what Todd,
Whether Todd Bowles knew he was doing this or not,
I actually thought it was smart because then you put

(12:36):
Mahomes in a situation where they will punt on fourth
and one. They are not as desperate, and if you
win the coin toss, you might be able to walk off.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
Like I just.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
Think twenty seven seconds, three timeouts with the new kickoff rule,
where you're gonna need the ball at the thirty. The
Chiefs have the best kicker in the league. You don't
think Mahomes was gonna find a way to get the
twenty five yard he needed if they were trailing. I
know people this morning are like, well, he didn't get it.
They went to overtime, Yes, but they were tied. They

(13:08):
punted the ball. If they were trailing, that doesn't happen.
So I didn't hate this as much as everyone else.
What I did think was a mistake, and Aikman nailed
it was calling the timeout when they got down to
the one. At that point you really need, like I think, there,
you rush to the line, run another play, and then

(13:29):
if you need to call your timeout, you call it.
But either way, now you're inside twenty seconds, inside twenty seconds,
then maybe I'd go for two. But with twenty seven
seconds three timeouts, I think had they gone for two
and gotten it, the only difference is this morning we'd
be talking about a let me do the math here,
twenty seven to twenty five chiefs win instead of a

(13:52):
thirty to twenty four chiefs win.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
So I mean, we know you like Mahomes, but it
is they've they've started eight and l greatness as.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
You would say, yes, as you used to say with Tommy,
I like greatness. I appreciate excellence. It's no personal affiliation.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
But go ahead.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
So he's eight and no, he's never done that before.
They're proving very Brady like. They've just decided to pivot
to a slow, methodical run game and just lean on you.
That was Brady in New England. The Moss years, they'd
throw over you. The Edelman Gronkers they death by a
thousand cuts. The great teams can beat you multiple The
Chicago Bulls did this. You know you could have a

(14:29):
game when they hit threes. They could suffocate you defensively,
or Michael could drop fifty. The great teams can beat
you multiple ways. It is interesting if Mahomes wont and
I would take them to win the title. Again, I
just think situationally they beat a Detroit is what is
the line on Brady having a trophy room, Mahomes having

(14:53):
about half but winning three straight, and it's easy for
everybody to say, well, he's going to take my Holmes.
But when Brady surpassed Montana, stylistically they were very similar players.
So when Tom got another one more than Joe, we
handed the baton over. But stylistically, nobody disputes Mahomes is

(15:14):
crazy gifted physically. Where are we on the Brady Mahomes
thing if he wins a third.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
So I already think he's the most talented quarterback ever,
But that's not the conversation, right.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
The question is best and seven.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
To three, and as far as Super Bowls goes, he does.
Tom has three league MVPs, Patrick has two. Tom also,
to be fair, they played twice in the playoffs and
Tom won both of those games. So I'm just trying
to give a fair reading of the history.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
With all of that.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
And so right now, even if I think I would
take Patrick over any quarterback ever, that's different than saying
he is the greatest quarterback ever.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Tom still owns that.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
But if Patrick, in his first seven years as a starter,
pulls off the first ever three peat in NFL history,
has a Super Bowl with the second worst defense to
ever win a Super Bowl from a regular season standpoint
in twenty nineteen, has his worst season ever, was an
overtime loss in the Conference championship game. Has five Super

(16:21):
Bowl appearances in four Super Bowl victories in seven years,
and post trading away the best receiver in football, he
goes League MVP, Super Bowl Champion, highest scoring team, then
the next year set all the records for drops, has
the toughest as far as strength of opposition, record playoff

(16:43):
road to a super Bowl ever, wins all those games
on the road, and then this year.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
Makes it happen again.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
I think after this season, if you say he's the
greatest football player to ever live, yeah, I don't need
to wait until seven rings.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
That's totally fair.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
He's certainly already has established the greatest start to a
career of any athlete in the three major sports. Ever,
that is a different list than Tom, but Patrick has
rewritten that list. I just think, and what you were
saying about the Chiefs, if I made just for a moment,
what makes them so great is they are truly a team.

(17:22):
Last night was the worst the defense has played all year.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Yes, so it was.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
The best the offense has played against the Chargers. You know,
Rashi gets injured, Mahomes gets rattled from it that they
they're down ten to nothing. The offense doesn't have it,
so the defense says, all right, we'll pitch a shutout
the rest of the way. Whatever unit doesn't have it.
The other side picks it up. And people are talking

(17:50):
about Mahomes's numbers this year. I understand the overall numbers
are bad. He is the best passer in the league
in the fourth quarter and the Chiefs have the second
best third down conversion rate of any team in the
last fifteen years. When it matters, they're great across the board.

Speaker 1 (18:13):
Yeah, So you know, I'm I'm sitting there with Matty Eberflus,
and I've tried to make it a habit not to
call for people's job, but there are things I look
for with coaches. Can I watch them and do I
know what they're trying to do? Are they getting better

(18:34):
over time? So I watched Chicago off of buy against
Washington seven possessions, six punts, that's like with Caleb and
Keenan and DJ Moore and and then I watched this
past week get no Energy and no Juice, And I
think we're to a point is and I think this matters.
Bo Nix is getting better, even in the blowout, he's

(18:55):
getting better. And Jayden looks great. So you're now.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
I'm watching look good the last couple of weeks. Yes,
I thought Joyce credit yep, Drake May.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
Yeah, I think it's time to make a move now.
The downside to making a move is if you put
an interim in and it works, bad ownership falls for
that every time good ownership doesn't do you just stick
with Eberflus and win five games? You think you should
do that?

Speaker 4 (19:21):
Just well, I don't know that you win five games,
But I I guess my point is Eberflus can't be
the coach next year.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
But I wouldn't fire him today.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Okay, but no matter.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
Here's the other thing.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
No matter what they do the rest of the way,
he can't come back because last year it looked like
they were gonna move off him, and then at the
very end they got a little thing going with Justin
and Polls. The GM there felt like he owed it
to him to bring him back, and in my opinion,
it was a grievous error.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
They could have.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
Gotten Jim Harbaugh. Then Harbaugh'd be on your show talking
about what a great young man. Caleb Williams is whole,
whole world's different. So if I'm the Chicago Bears, if
I'm Ryan Bowles, I go to the mccaskeys and say, hey,
I know this isn't really our history, but one time,
can we have a blank check for a head coach

(20:15):
and can we get better while weakening the team to
be in our division. Let's go get Ben Johnson, let's
hurt Jared Golf in the Lions. Let's give Caleb a
guy to pair with him for a decade. I understand
it's risky because he's a first time head coach, but
the veteran head coaches out there, Mike Rabel, Bill Belichick

(20:36):
are defense guys, and Belichick's timeline's very short anyway, and
so you want to weaken the Lions, you want to
make yourself better. So I just think, if you're the Bears,
this is a super attractive job. You have a lot
of good young players, your CAP's in a good position,
and I still think Caleb's going to be a superstar.

(20:58):
You got a pair them with an offensive coach. So
that's what I would do. So I wouldn't fire eber
Flues yet, but I don't think he's coming back next year.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
First things first, it's great. Senior's always buddy. Say hi
to Brew, say hi to Wild's great show. Appreciate man.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Of course, the facility was out here yesterday. When are
you doing a little New York East Coast herd appearance?

Speaker 3 (21:19):
You're out here all the time.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
We don't have that kind of budget. We are a
shoe string budget.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
Oh we all pay for the plane ticket. It just
come on out, you and j Max hanging out.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
It'll be great.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
I can't get him away from the beach.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Good s all right, see you.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
By the way, The Jets are trading receiver Mike Williams
to the Steelers. It's a it's a big veteran body,
kind of a red zone advantage. Russell Wilson's having success
with Pickens, who's a big long receiver who's in his prime.
Mike Williams isn't. But Mike's been around the block again.
He's a big target in the red zone.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
I like it, Mike. You know, Mike Williams and Aaron
Rodgers had a falling out, so you know, another move
by the Jets. He has no impact for the Jets now.
DeVante Adams is there and I think you know again.
Can he make a big catch on a third down
or a fourth downer in the red zone for the
Steelers in the second half of the season. The answer
is yes, So I like it. It's trade deadline day
one more heard. The Herd streams twenty four hours a day,

(22:20):
seven days a week within the iHeartRadio app. Search Herd
to listen live or on demand whenever you like. How
do you recognize elegant design? It's all in the details.
The twenty twenty five Genesis GV seventy coop like Profile, SUV,
Power and Prowess, go to Genesis dot com. I Love mine.
Jmack with the news.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
No, no, heard on the news. This is the Herd
Line news.

Speaker 5 (22:47):
All right, Colin, We do have some good news. Is
the NFL trade deadline is popping right now. Huge one
in New Orleans. The Saints have agreed to trade four
time Pro Bowl quarterback Marshawn Lattimore to the Commanders for
a third and a forth and then a fifth goes
back to Washington. That's a big deal for the Commanders.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Is a great gap.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
I don't know if he's an elite quarnerback anymore. He's
still a top twenty ish quarterback in the league.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
Nursing a hamstring issue, but he's a very very good
player and he attacks a real weakness. And again, in
these big games, you're gonna face Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown.
You're gonna face you know, Brown Brown. All the good
teams in the NFC have a lot of weapons offensively,
So this is the week spot. Baltimore has the same
week spot. But Baltimore's got Lamar and Derreck Henry and

(23:35):
can dominate time of possession. So I think it's the
move to make.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
So we're looking at some of the moves on the board.
So Zadarius Smith was the big one. The Lions got
defensive end, good pass rusher from the Brown.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
I like all of them except the Cowboys. I think
they got fleeced by Carolyn.

Speaker 5 (23:50):
Oh yeah, the Cowboys deals It was dumb, pleased, really
insane move a three and five team. Your quarterback goes
on the ir and you're buying that.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
They don't know what they're doing. I mean they pivoted.
The Cowboys have gone from regressing to they don't know
what they're doing.

Speaker 5 (24:06):
Jerry's just grasping its straws.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
I'm not here to beat up on the Cowboys. I've
been saying for twenty five years of being a radio
and TV talk show host in America. My take is
with the Cowboys, every year they'll be pretty good, and
that's what they are. With Romo and Dak, they are
now a poorly run mess. The Trey Lance and Mingo
deals are bad. GMing one that went down in the
last ten minutes. I'm sure you saw on the screen.

Speaker 5 (24:28):
They're Mike Williams leaving the Jets.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Fine, he is going due.

Speaker 5 (24:33):
Yes, the Steelers, I guess they were trying to get
Thling yesterday.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Maybe he did pass a physical or they.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Got a better uprized. The Rams wouldn't consider Fling or
the Chargers Rams they got.

Speaker 5 (24:46):
I mean, come on, what are you talking about? That
Puka gets tossed from the game and the kid Robinson
makes a one handed cats he got guys. Chargers is
another story. Charger they're in line for Theling. I don't
know something's going on, but uh, it's fun when the
trade deadl excited.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
I guess yeah, yeah, definitely next up Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 5 (25:03):
Colin Jordan love I these turnovers are an issue, so
he's thrown at least one interception in every game he's
played in this season, including a really bad pick six
and the Lions lost. Lafleur is not happy about the
questions regarding his quarterback being turnover prone.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
You guys are going to make your Yeah, I know,
I understand, Like it's really annoying up.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Here though, Like.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
You know, we're obviously he's fighting, he's competing, and we
know that we've got to take care of the football.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
But I don't question.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Anything about what he's trying to do. We just got
to do it better.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Yeah, he's sloppy, and I think I think it was
very easy in college he had some of this. Oh yeah,
I just looked it up.

Speaker 5 (25:52):
You trusted led the country in interceptions in twenty nineteen.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Yeah, No, this is he is very loose. Now again,
you can I tend to defend guys like Mahomes who
throws a bad pick six. I don't think. I think
Aaron Rodgers plays too safe, Like I like that, Andrew
Luck and Mahomes will throw it downfield. I'll defend that forever.
I don't think quarterbacks if you throw it thirty eight
times and have a pick and you're throwing the ball

(26:17):
down the field. I'm okay with it. You know, I
don't want Derek Carr. I don't want underneath stuff. You're
not gonna beat the good teams with that. You gotta
throw it down the field.

Speaker 5 (26:25):
So I guess you talked me into Jordan Love, And
for whatever reason, I keep betting the Packers this year.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
And Love every time I watch him. He throwing red
zone picks.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Those are the worst colleges are.

Speaker 5 (26:35):
It's like, you got at least three points come in
your way and he's making bad decisions in the red zone.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
But again, this was the college knock on him is
that he is loose. So what you're seeing is what
was identified in college. I can live with it because
I think it's a pretty buttoned up franchise. They won
a Super Bowl with FARV, who was very loose. They're
not a loose organization, so I'm fine with it. I

(27:00):
like the fact that this year the Packers defense and
offense is aggressive. I think sometimes they haven't been, and
I don't think they have good enough personnel to be
passive and win. I think they have to take swings.

Speaker 5 (27:12):
So you got the interceptions now the groin, the knee,
like he's having a rocky second year. I think he's
got like twenty five NFL starts. Call him. It's still
very early to call him, you know. Twenty five starts
is not a lot. Final story is really spicy in
the NBA. Oh boy, So this Yannis Milwaukee thing, you know,

(27:32):
I really disdain having to give you credit, but it
was on your list of interesting things to happen in
the NBA. Jannis getting out of Milwaukee.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
So Mark Stein, who.

Speaker 5 (27:42):
Used to work at the place you used to work at,
reports that NBA executives believe the real reason the Knicks
traded for Karl Anthony Towns was to later flip him
for Yannis if things went sideways in Milwaukee.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
This feels completely right to me. Karl Anthony Towns in
New York doesn't feel his personality. I think that I
don't know, Carl Anthony's a little flaky for me. I
like him, but eventually the Bucks have to get younger
and the Knicks need to get great. Okay, so the
two things work. Karl Anthony Towns, Michale Bridges, and Brunson

(28:18):
are not beating Okac, They're not beating Boston. The Knicks
have to get a great player. So Brunson becomes the
best two in the league right now. Brunson's a week one,
he'd be the best two. Mkhale Bridges excellent three. But well,
you could give up a million draft picks, give him
og you know, a couple of rotational dudes and five

(28:40):
number ones and then New York could they win a
title over the next four years with Brunson. They may
have to give up Michale Bridges. But the Knicks are
really good. WILLI Good's not beating the Celtics. They need
a great player.

Speaker 5 (28:54):
So here's the bad news for the Bucks. They lost
again last night. They're now one and six. Okay, Giannis
did not play. But Colin I broke this down on
my podcast. If you look at their draft picks for
the next six years, they have none, literally zero draft
picks first and second round until twenty thirty one. So
there is no hope in Milwaukee to get better, Like
you can't add pieces without trading something.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
If tomorrow the Knicks got ya, honest, just think about this,
what would Boston's reaction be? Oh crap, do you think
Boston's reaction if they got Giannison, gave up five number
ones and Og and three other guys, Boston would be like,
oh crap. But yet Milwaukee would get draft picks which

(29:35):
they don't have, youth which they don't have, and by
the way, a twenty four point game center. Yeah, like
Carl Anthony Town's a great offensive player. So this one
to me is you got a title, you got no
future with this team.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
It's bad.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
This makes so much. The Knicks need great and the
Bucks need a future and you can solve both with that.

Speaker 5 (29:55):
So apparently Bucks fans are like, we're not trading, honest,
no circumstances.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
And then you look at the team.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Middleton's still hurt, Dame is up and.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
Down, Lopez is old, Like there's just things are not
trending well for the Bucks down. And I'm gonna be
honest with you this. The Knicks have the AMMO, they
have the draft picks to deal it. Yes to you,
toss in Towns three number ones, like at some point
Milwaukee's got to listen. And then they get off Dame
Lillard and they could get some more picks that way
and just totally restart. But I think this Giannest thing

(30:25):
is probably the story of the NBA this season.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
This will be the biggest move since Kevin.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
Durant went to the Warriors.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
Again to when you're a small market in the NBA
Oklahoma City when they had Durant and Westbrook and Harden,
You're not gonna have a dynasty because great players are
not gonna want to play there forever. Can you get
a ring? Okay, see couldn't Milwaukee did, So you have
to look at it differently, like with dirt Nbiski, Mark

(30:50):
Cuban got a ring. That's all that matters. You're that's
a football state. You're not gonna get six rings. The
dynasty's Chicago players like it, Golden State, Big City, Boston.
You can have dynasties. I think in these smaller markets
what you're looking for is just one and then you
blow it up if you have.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
To, and start over, make a lot of money.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
But Milwaukee's got no draft picks. They're old. This is
not a viable team. And by the way, what if
Yannis got hurt in the next six weeks, I mean,
like really hurt man.

Speaker 5 (31:18):
So I'm gonna look at it like the Cooper flag,
the number one pick or what have you. I mean,
by the way, the Eastern Conference is awful. There's two
teams over five hundred currently everyone else's dad. So Doc
Rivers is still like, we gotta make the playoffs. No
big deal.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
So I saw a stat.

Speaker 5 (31:31):
That only twelve teams start that started one in six
have ever made the NBA playoffs, and Doc Rivers says, Oh,
we're fine, We're gonna make the playoffs. Listen, things can
get sideways pretty quickly. There's no margin for error. Like
you said, if Jannis gets hurt, it's over.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
I think Milwaukee would consider doing this, but do they
not want to do it early? So their take is
do we want to make the Knick. We don't want
to give the Knicks an entire season to get Yannis Ryan.
We'll make it in February or the trade deadline. Just
hold off on it. We're gonna do it, but A
we want to see if we can turn it around.

Speaker 3 (32:04):
And B.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
I wouldn't be surprised if if if in three weeks
they started talking. But if I was the box, I
would make New York bag a little. I would leak
the story to Mark Stein. I would leak it out there.
So the Warriors call Miami calls.

Speaker 5 (32:21):
Miami's interested apparently, but I don't know that they have
the They're not giving up Bam outa bayo.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
How about Dallas?

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Who are they giving up?

Speaker 1 (32:28):
Everybody but Luca? Every pick but Luca.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
Every player but Lucas want picks and the Knicks have
the best of both worlds Karl Anthony Towns and draft
picks and O n og Or Bridges whoever.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
I think it's real. It's definitely something here. J Mack
with the news.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Well, that's the news, and thanks for stopping by The
Herd Line News.

Speaker 1 (32:51):

said coach Sean mcvag joins us in the final hour

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Monday night matchup with.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
The Miami Dolphins.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
And they have him an airbrush. They're both that good looking.
That's the discouraging part for me. I'm gonna have to
wear extra makeup. You know, those guys look so good
so it's funny. We were talking about this. So who's
your favorite comedian? My favorite current comedian. There's a lot
of great ones. John Mullaney makes me laugh. He's a
Saturday Night Live guy. I've seen it, saw him live
in Chicago. He was out of rehab. Was the best

(33:39):
show I ever saw, sold out United Center in Chicago.
I think he's the best, the best working comedian. He's
currently on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
I love.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
Yeah. He's a tall, thin guy, kind of good looking guy.
Oli yesterday, okay, gotcha, very very funny. So he's my
fair best actor working again, there's a million. Do you
have a best actor? Okay, you could tell you No,
I don't know who.

Speaker 5 (34:01):
We talked movies yesterday during a commercial break and he said,
what eleven to twenty was all mission impossible?

Speaker 1 (34:06):
So go ahead and no, I don't. I like Tom Cruise,
but I think I like him because he drives people crazy.
There's a lot of good actors. But generally, the thing
about sports that is different from politics, you can't claim
it's rigged. I mean you can, but you look stupid.
Not that you wouldn't in politics, but they're standings like
best comedian. I don't know they're about twenty. I think

(34:27):
are funny. Uh Nicky Glazer, I think is a wrong.
Kevin Hart, they're all he's a grinder, he's great, they're all.
Dave Chappelle, they're all great. Same with actors. I mean,
there's a million. But in sports there's certain data that
defines winner, loser, in out, first place, last place, So
it's interesting. There was a Micah Parsons on his podcast

(34:50):
listed the five most clutch quarterbacks. Well, we have data
for this, so he put Patrick Mahomes one Stafford too.
Now without looking at data. The three guys I would
take on a final drive and I always use this
minute thirty left, one time out, gotta go seventy yards
to win. I would go Mahomes, Stafford, and Burrow with

(35:12):
Josh Allen and Lamar pretty damn close. But I think
I would go Mahomes, Stafford and Burrow. Burrow's got no deef.
Those would be my guys. But and I understand him
putting Dak on this list. They call it a cya,
you know, cover your blank, right, I get it. Josh Allen,
but he has Aaron Rodgers third. So I said, I

(35:35):
understand why there's certain comics who are comics comics. Norm
m MacDonald was a comics comic. He often loved to
go on stage and bomb. He didn't mind bombing. He
was a comics comic, the late Norm McDonalds, who came
on the show before Great. An actor's actor would be
Philip Seymour Hoffman. Maybe was just could do anything, Capodi

(35:56):
just I mean, actors held him in a certain reverence.
But again, yea, it's just kind of opinion. But what's
interesting is that Aaron is a player's player, single, good looking, confident, cool,
But we have data for this. And here's what's fascinating.
The least cool quarterback in the NFL is Kirk Cousins.
You can argue, after Mahomes, Aaron is the coolest quarterback

(36:20):
in the NFL. So if you didn't have standings or
data in the NFL, you would say that Aaron's a
player's player. But here's what's funny. If you go back
to twenty twenty, we have data for this. Both these
guys have come off an achille surgery. Both have played
for multiple teams, multiple coaches, multiple coordinators, multiple weapons. Aaron
Rodgers and Kirk Cousins in clutch tied or trailing in

(36:43):
the fourth quarter overtime since twenty twenty. Bruh, it ain't close.
Kirk is significantly better. But he's not cool. He's not
a player's player. They kind of make fun of him,
they put the chains on him. He's kind of and
he leans into it because Kirk's a good guy. But
I mean everything across the board. Kirk throws the ball
better downfield, He's more accurate. He's got thirty eight touchdowns

(37:05):
to Aaron's eleven passer rating. It's the difference between a
backup and a star. Like it is not close. Kirk
Cousins is as significantly better. And this, by the way,
one of these guys had Matt Lafleur and wasn't Kirk Cousins.
One of these guys had the stability and the dominance
over twenty five years of Green Bay and one guy doesn't.
So and they both had good weapons. I mean Garrett

(37:27):
Wilson justin Jefferson, they mean they got weapons, and they
both had really good weapons. So it just it's funny
the perception. But why I love sports is you look ridiculous.
If you yell rigged, you're a clown. You look ridiculous.
I think you are if you're a political junkie, But
a lot of people buy into it. In sports, it's

(37:47):
just nonsense. But you got data here on who is
the clutch quarterback. It's the uncool guy, not the cool guy.
But that's the way sports works. It's just, you know,
I don't have a problem with Matt You, Stafford Homes
that those two are just we watch We watched both
of them do it this week. I watched my Homes
do it. Last night, I watch Stafford do it. They're

(38:08):
just there's something different about some guys. It just they're
just that's they're very good at that. I don't know,
you know, like there are certain golfers that for years
and years people used to bang on Phil Mickelson, but
he was a huge risk taker and he would get
out clubs and people. He would take chances. But I
always kind of liked Phil. I thought he was pretty clutch.
But again, when you're playing in tiger Woods Prime, you're

(38:29):
gonna look like second tier. But all right, here are
the NFL trades that have happened so far today. There'll
be more coming. Some I like Marshawn Lattimore to the
Commanders love that. That is an A move. Zadarius Smith
the Lions, it's a B. He's a good, solid player.
Mingo to the Cowboys is an F. He can't separate.

(38:52):
He's a number three receiver. He's a big, physical kid
that doesn't have any separation. Khalil Herbert is a nice
short yardage back. Going to the Bengals, I like that move.
That's a good B move.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Did you see that.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
Moss got hurt?

Speaker 5 (39:05):
Who was the starter? Chase Brown is a good backup,
but they're down to one running back, so they needed
to get Herbert. I still think the Bengals are a
wild card contender. They could get in the playoffs right.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
I don't like their defense. Mike Williams of the Steelers
is a C C minus. It's fine. It's he's he's
struggled to stay healthy. He'll be a number two three receiver,
number three receiver. The Mingo move is bad. The Lattimore
move is very good. Everything else just kind of matt
but it's I mean, this is a fun time. I
just we've gotten to a point with Dallas. We gotta
be honest here, like they're not well run. Those last

(39:37):
two moves are not. I think Nick Wright said this earlier.
If you're the Houston Texans, go get Zach Martin for
two years on the interior your O line. If you're Dallas,
give him up. Oh, that's gonna cost a lot though.
Noice that he's got, he's like thirty five years altery Martin.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Oh, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Is that old thirty three? I mean my takeaway is
Houston has a major problem. Houston can move some pieces
for cap room. Dallas isn't doing anything. Martin's thirty three,
but it means an interior alignment. Those are that's an
old thirty three years old. Great but old,
