Speaker 4 (00:28):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (00:30):
LaVar Arrington, Brady Quincionas knocks filling in for calling here
on a Monday morning, a Monday morning after actual football
week zero and college football delivery and moth eating.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Yeah, that's not that's messed up. Now you realize. Wow,
your grandmom's house smell like mothballs. Damn, I got as
much funny, It's all fun and games. You smell mothballs? Hey, Grandma? Why?
Hey Nana? Why does it smell like mouthballs in here?
I got a hole in my sweater brain? Hey, damn,
shoot it up? What happens? I don't know? Boss hog

(01:02):
moth No dang came from back from the dead. Yeah no,
he can't reach that far. Yeah. Just ah. It looks
like moths were nibbling on it, or maybe it was.
It was in a place where a rodent could get
to it. No, I think it was I think it
was a moss. I got a thing it might be. Yeah,
it's crazy how a moth can can just chew through
your clothes. Yeah, wow, man, you really think it was

(01:25):
a moth. It's possible your grandmam didn't have moth balls
in her in her.

Speaker 6 (01:31):
She did and like you remember the whole cedared closet. Yeah,
here's the thing is, I don't think moths want to
eat whatever the hell is in our clothes anymore. Like
you stuff now these forever plastics and stuff, like even
the moths know they should be eating that or around them.

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Geez, hey, this is being honest. Yes they have. I
noticed I got a hole in my sweater and lavargo.
So that's what happens when we wear the same clothes
for ten years in a row.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
That was probably more accurate.

Speaker 6 (02:02):
Got like moths in our constant state of fight or flight, right,
Like they're they're either going to do something that helps
them survive or do something that helps them die. So
I would think they'd be a good indication of Yeah,
we don't eat those clothes anymore.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
So we shouldn't do it. We shouldn't wear them? Probably not,
but how do we know that? To do the moth challenge?
How you get the test? Like, do you let some
moths go in in the closet?

Speaker 3 (02:26):
What happened.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
If they try to get whatever?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Just turn the lights back.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
One good call or challenge, just like the whole place
on fire. I say we should go to one of
our siblings houses and do that. Yeahs a whole but no,
I don't want them in mind. Maybe you want the
kids room. By the way, you know mothman prophecies. I
believe that took place in West Virginia.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
I'm I did. I did see that movie. That freaked
me out. A good movie. Prophecies. It's supposedly a real story. Okay,
the bridge, all that stuff. See that red light?

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Yeah, yeah, a real story.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
I'm just I'm wondering whether or not Penn State will
see that red light this Saturday.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
That's what I'm wondering.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Oh, I'm trying to get him fired up. I have
to wait and see men trying to get them all
fired up. You know, got faith in my My mob
was too. Who's your mob? Who you mobing with? Hawaii?

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Okay? After that big win over Delaware State.

Speaker 6 (03:29):
Yeah, that was an awful I mean, first off, they
almost lost that game.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
What was what was the spread? Fort some ridiculous?

Speaker 6 (03:35):
So yeah, yeah, there you go. I mean, listen, that
should have been one of your Knox's loss but probably wasn't. No,
it definitely wasn't. Now here's here's the other problem with
that too. Like it's week zero. I get it, and Britty,
you would know more.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
About this being a TV star in the face of
big new kickoff, as you point out all the time
during our show. But like a bet, like if I
want to, like if I want to if I want
to watch Hawaii on Saturday night to wrap up a
great week zero, you need like the Team one sports app,
Like no network could like throw that game on realizing

(04:09):
people are gonna be like, all right, yeah, I'll finish
off strong with Hawaii. You need like some app that
doesn't even work on TVs. It's only on your phone.

Speaker 6 (04:17):
I blame all you on the West Coast, all right, why,
I mean, because that's on at a time that's like
reasonable on the West Coast. But they look at the
West Coast and they look at the consumption habits and
they go, yeah, these people don't watch as much football,
they don't gamble on as much football.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
I'm just stayed in facts. Sorry, and that is a
West Coast problem. I think we need to get together
with Dave Kuelo. I think great too. He needs to
be involved and starting next year, I agree with Dave
FS one starts airing.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Hawaii games week zero, you know, just to wrap up the.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Acona as a sponsor. Maybe listen, you know, open minded
to all that stuff. Now speaking of you know, we
were talking about you know, West Virginia and State.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
You know, I just want to have a seat on
that to on that desk. Yeah, I'd love to have it.
He would. Oh, man, I love to sit next to you.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Yeah, that'd be fun.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
Be wonderful.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Yeah, it's cool to get invites to that stuff. Uh yeah, no,
it wouldn't. I don't know why you're smiling, Jonas. You
wouldn't travel anyway. You wouldn't travel talks. You don't like
travelers too much. You know, many times I've seen Dave
Coelo on a plane and he pretends like he doesn't
see me because he knows it's an awkward conversation. Be Like, hey,
LeVar was on set. Why wasn't.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
I It's like, I mean, you were in Ohio when
and I was even fighting the out yeah, and still
made it on there. Yeah, my pride wouldn't let me
limp on on on Ye.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
It was almost like you got that nectar from the
guys my pride.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
Y'all saw the way I walked into that guy.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Levar's foot looked like a duffel bag, and he still
made it onto the walk.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
Down the walk down the tunnel area and walked onto
the field and watched the whole field, or watch the
whole game with no no no walker. And as soon
as the game was over and I knew we were
gonna lose my I felt the pain come back in
my foot and I had to use my scooter again.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
Yeah, it was it was. It was sad, it was
said watching use the scooter in general. Yeah, I know,
because it was.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
Like I was watching.

Speaker 6 (06:22):
I'd go back and watch highlights of you, like leaping
over the line of scrimmage and that.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Then then I'd look over at you sitting there with.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Every time somebody, LeVar, it was like a slowing down
in this. I just don't see you in a scooter.
I'm sorry you you know what. I saw how fast
I was scooting after we lost that jan Like I
was like speedy gizales out that bad flying. I was flying,

(06:54):
had my hoodie up, I had my my my hat down.
I was going so fast because all all I saw
was the the Ohio State fans, and I had to
go through all of them to get to the car.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Hey, you know what, though, rington you coming on big
new kickoff? Maybe bad luck? You've been what two times now?
Look old timer, the old timer.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
I mean it's the two times three times now, it's
like three times three times. The stiff arm was three yes,
damn oh yes, And that's why I will not I'm
coming home for for a game anyway. I talked to Date,
I won't be in morgan to Hey, the stiff armless
that's gotta be that's up there, that's gotta be up there.

(07:41):
I mean, that's got to be one of the most
classic moments.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
The look on that woman's face, shocked and surprised.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
She was Iowa Hawk guy and it was game day,
so he was close enough before my reach.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
So it was it was Penn State at Iowa was
one we had that game one they heard our court
LeVar is brought out, and there's there's there's Iowa fans
that are, you know, cheering, booing him and kind of
giving him a hard time on the set of Big
New and Kickoff. Remember I'm watching the game on TV
and I see, did he just stiff.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
Arm that lady?

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Yeah he almost did, like the icky shuffle that first
came out.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
I sat that joint right to the face.

Speaker 5 (08:22):
Some woman sit there like cheering on or Iowa Hawkeyes
and get the otis and LeVar LeVar gives her a
stiff arm and you made contact.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
I moved the face. How did Bludzer in the vorced
slap room? But I made contact. Once I safely made
contact with the face, then I shoved it a little
bit because that wouldn't be a stiff arm if I
did stiff in the arm and move the face. So
so there was that. Yeah, but we've lost every time
I've been on. Things are gonna change this weekend. Yeah,

(08:53):
well I won't be there, so all right, all right, yeah, okay, yeah,
coming back come check man man out a pretty good
last week? What up man man? Yeah? All right?

Speaker 3 (09:03):
So, speaking of Pennsylvania, the Pittsburgh Steelers, we mentioned earlier
that the Patriots are. They haven't yet announced that Drake
may is going to be the starter, even though Girodmeo
said that he's outplayed Jacoby Brissett. Jacoby Brissett's also got
a shoulder injury that he's dealing with. Well, Mike Tomlin
and the Steelers, I mean, they got to see Russell

(09:24):
Wilson in five snaps in the preseason game. Justin Fields
came in. Russell looked pretty good and the brief stint
that he had over the weekend. But Mike Tomlin discussed
that there's still more work to be done when it
comes to them making a decision at QB.

Speaker 7 (09:39):
We'll make a decision at the end of our work week.
This upcoming week. We got three days of Stealers versus
Steelers work, and why not do it then it kind of,
you know, minimizes the Steelers versus Steelers work. When we
started making decisions prior to the completion of that, We've
got ample time to prepare for Atlanta and make whatever
decisions or announcements regarding divisional labor or pecking orders and

(10:00):
and so forth, and so we'll do it at the
end of the work week.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
Steelers versus Steelers. Yeah, and factor. I mean, I let
you have it. But that's that sounds about right. You
already heard my opinion on this. They knew who the
starter is. I don't know why they're doing it this way.
It just it bothers me, man, I just.

Speaker 6 (10:21):
It's almost like this is how you create problems within
your own locker room. Is when you're a coach and
you are not more defiant or more outspoken about who
your leader is, then when you do face adversity earlier
in the season, it leads to that same question being
amongst the dudes in the locker room. I mean, and

(10:43):
that's one of the reasons why I'm not against like
quarterback battles or quarterback battles. The hard part, though, is
at some point you have to define who that guy is,
and then you have to give that guy every chance,
every opportunity to go be the guy. And if you've
got him going out there splitting reps in his preparation

(11:04):
or looking over it, I mean, it's just looking over short.
It doesn't work. It never allows anyone to feel like
they're the guy and then go out there and they
can play free and they can make throws and make
mistakes and still come back from that. I mean, imagine
being in any other position and constantly feeling like, well,
if I miss this tackle, then I'm not gonna play anymore.

(11:25):
Or if I miss this car I mess up my alignment,
I'm not gonna be able pl anymore.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
I mean, that's the hard part about it.

Speaker 6 (11:31):
With a quarterback position, there's so many things that you're
responsible for. So there's you know, a multitude of things
you could get wrong on any given play, and so
at some point you have to be able to play
with a degree of It's okay, it doesn't have to
be perfect. I just got to keep taking profits, keep
moving the football, keep things going forward, because there's all

(11:52):
these variables that impact my job. And so when adversity strikes,
and instead of sticking with a and letting him fight
through it and see if he can overcome a bad
half of football or bad three quarters of football, you
then have a locker room that's in question too, because
the head coach was in question about it. So that's

(12:12):
the thing that I hate. I think it almost sets
a tone for how the season's gonna go like. And
you've been pretty outspoken, LaVar about not being very optimistic about.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
The Steelers this year. Is that fair to say that
is fair?

Speaker 6 (12:25):
And I can understand why you'd say that from the
for the reasons you've made, but now even more so,
like I'm starting to feel that way just because of
how they're letting this whole thing drag on. It's like,
I don't care who it is, name the guy, let
him go be the guy, and then let's see what
you've got after eight nine games. You've got a new coordinator,

(12:46):
You've got two new quarterbacks. So whichever one is, there's
going to be a learning curve. There's gonna be a
process of breaking these guys in and letting the offense
settle in.

Speaker 4 (12:54):
Tru I would say this. I would offer this if
I were Mike Tomlin. Look my oc I look at
my offensive line coach, and I'd be like, coaches, sit
them down. Broderick, sit down, James, Zach Isaac Dan sit down.
You do understand that you are dictating the decision that

(13:18):
has to be made for this football team at the
quarterback's position. It's your poor play that is forcing me
to not be able to say I declared definitively that
Russell Wilson is the starter. Now we know Russ is
the starter. We know we're going to start them. But

(13:38):
y'all out there playing forth such a pits poor effort
that this man is giving the ball to Najie every
single time. He's throwing it in the flats, in the
flares every single time because y'all can't block anybody, and
it doesn't look like Russ is going to run, so
he's going to try to throw the ball because he
wants to be seen as a throwing quarterback. And he

(14:00):
isn't running. Now we gotta put Justin in. And Justin
is on the exact opposite. He's holding the ball, he's
looking over the field, he's getting chased out because y'all
don't want to block, and now he's running all over
the place and we're getting the same amount of yardage
that we get if he throws at Russell throws the
ball to nads of your hair. So what are we
gonna do? Y'all need to step up. Y'all need to

(14:23):
drop a set act like you know what's on at
Steak right now. You need to do what you need
to do. And that's how I'm gonna be able to
determine our Steelers on Steelers being able to say that
Russ is our starter, because otherwise y'all putting us in
a position where I'm gonna put Russ out there, He's
gonna get sacked like fifteen times set in the NFL record,

(14:44):
an end game season record. That's all your fault. It's
every last one of y'all's faults. It ain't my fault,
and it ain't the coach's fault. Y'all's fault. It is
weird how they're handled.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
It's right to ever tell you guys a story about
how Lovey Smith handled a quarterback. Wait, and I'm glad, Yes,
what do you do? I'm glad, he asked. Well, so
what he decided on during the preseason was he was
flipping a coin to see who was going to start
a fast outing game. So yeah, so there was one
of those, uh you know, one of those situations there

(15:15):
in Chicago. So I don't know if i'd ever told
you guys that before, but I forget out and then
what happened. He flipped the coin and then it was
head er tail.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
I mean, I don't remember what the result was, but
I just know that Kyle Orton ended up winning. Well,
there you go. Yeah, so there you go ended up
winning the joke. That might be what they need to
do because if their offensive line doesn't block any better
than what they're doing right now, it doesn't matter who's
in there, they're not going to have very much offense.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
I still couldn't get over the one clip I saw.
This is just how much of like I can't take
people on social media serious. Is they're like, oh, look
at Russell Wilson here holding on with the football. It's
like the right tackle gets below I mean literally takes
a step back and is almost getting thrown into Wilson.

(16:00):
Are like, oh, that's called Russell Wilson.

Speaker 6 (16:02):
It's like, okay, are we just not going to talk
about this three hundred pounds human being flying back into
his face? Like, hey, is that not a problem for
Pittsburgh Steelers fans because if it feels like that's where
things have gone downhill for them outside of Matt Canada's
terrible play calling, was zeez, their offensive.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Line has slowly faded away.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
Yeah, that's just the reality of it. I hate to
say us. I hate to say we because I never
played for the Steelers, but that is not what We're
known for steers. The Steelers aren't known for that. Mike Webster,
Germani Dawson, Leon Searci Pouncy. We're not known for bad
offensive line play. We stink right now, and that makes

(16:48):
it hard, makes it hard to do anything that you
need to do. A running game is a kneemick because
we all have blocking. We can't establish the past. I'm
on set up a discruntled Pittsburgh Steelers fan, George Truly
LaVar Arringtons Township, North Hills High School, North Side raised

(17:08):
and born in bratt I don't see my team doing
well right now. I don't. I don't have a positive
prognosis for us. All right, I'm done, I'm off my soapbox,
all right. I believe in Mike Tomlin, though something has
to give. Though I believe in Mike Tomlin. I will
say that that is the one caveat to all of this,
is that if somebody can kind of pull it together

(17:30):
and figure it out, it's going to be Mike Tomlin.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
But I just don't like what I'm seeing. Well, I mean,
you can believe in Mike Tomlin all you want. I
believe in simply safe. I'll tell you that right now
and during home emergencies, every second counts. That's why you

(17:56):
up next here on the Herd, it is two pros
and a cup of Joe filling in for Colin. We
are going to hear from somebody in the world of
football who apparently gets to pick and choose how things
operate in and around his program.

Speaker 8 (18:10):
We'll have that for you right here on FSR one
More Herd. The Herd streams twenty four hours a day,
seven days a week within the iHeartRadio app, Search Herd
to listen live or on demand whenever you like.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Oh Man Lee to laugh just never never ceases to
amaze with just his knowledge of southern California. It is
the Herd here on foot.

Speaker 6 (18:36):
Yeah, well, I'll come back and say stuff like that,
knowing as any clue where you're talking a little bit
more special.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
It's a little it's a little bit of a tease.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
I want to give the introductions here the Herd Fox
Sports Radio, lebar Rington, Brady Quinn Jonas were filling it
for Colin, which I've heard. Yeah, listen, I where I'm going.
Come on, man, you know where you're going. Yeah, I
know where I'm going. I'm going, And let's you know
where you're coming from. So coming up in about twenty
minutes from now, it's Super Bowl or Bust for one
team in the AFC, according to them.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
We will get into that for you again here on
the Herd. So first, let's talk about Lee to lap
and knowing his way around California in this snitzele So I.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
Just kind of randomly throughout, you know, Lee something about
Wiener Schnitzel and he's like, oh yeah, He's like, yeah,
that won.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Over at Burbank. Well where did it originate from? Though, Well,
there's a competition going on in the control Yeah. I mean,
and you know what that competition is, Q It's a
it's a very very diabolical competition that takes Why is.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Why is there a competition going on? I mean, it's
too late in the day.

Speaker 4 (19:40):
Well, it's obviously it is not obviously it's time because
Big Griz. Earlier, Big Griz stood up and said, do
not enter this room because the grizzly has delivered.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
That's all I'm gonna say. And Lee's looking for some retaliation.
He mentioned that he had some good ammunition Wiener Schnitzel yesterday,
and I was like, oh, I was at that one
over in Burbank by the five seventy studios, like god, exactly,
oh yeah, same one, and they serve beer there and
they've always got soccer games on the TV.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
I'm like, wait, what, Like, why would Weierstitchel serve beer?

Speaker 7 (20:20):
Why?

Speaker 4 (20:21):
Why does everybody across the window look like they're in
slow motion though you gotta slow like, why would they
Why would they serve beer? Why not?

Speaker 3 (20:31):
What everyone should say?

Speaker 4 (20:33):
So you're right, you know, that's why leaders would go
to church. Yeah, fair enough. That makes all the sense
in the world. And you guys give me fleck.

Speaker 9 (20:39):
When we were looking for a place to watch Thursday
night football, I told you Whole Foods right next to
that Wiener Schnitzel has a bar in it, and because
they're owned by Amazon, they had, uh, they had the Thursday.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
Night football game. A great place to go grab beer.
And this is why I don't go to church. That
beer is available. Fourth part, Yeah, post sermon, post sermon
bears available and the dining hall on a life man, Lee,
he just says there's like bits of information.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
He's got on some establishments locally I just would never
think of, Like I would never think to go to
Whole Foods to watch Al Michaels and Kirk kurb Street
call Thursday Game. I've tried to tell Lee before he's
he's got to figure something out. I mean, I know
he thinks he's got to figure it out, but we
need a life changing event to uh to speed up

(21:32):
some of that.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
I think you got it wrong, Brady. You know, my
brother was telling me.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
I'm talking to my brother the other day and he's all, man,
he's all When Brady told Lee on the air, Lee
like you should like maybe like have some kids or
something so you can like settle down and figure it out,
He's all almost lost. And I was like, yeah, because
it's just so like I mean, today's an example of that.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
Like I was testing something out and the way like
Lee's kind of nonchalantly hitting me up. I'm like, hey, dude,
I have a window of time, and then I don't
like that's that's how the day works.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
And where Lee's like hey, man, like.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
You know, like y'all be there like twenty thirty or man,
where are you?

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Man? I'm over here just hanging out.

Speaker 4 (22:14):
Man.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
I have my fantasy draft last night. I had a
great draft. Had a few beers, few shots, a few
more beers than shots.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
You guys, get it together back there. This is the best.
This is the best one goal, Amen, the best one goal.
Get it for I'm sorry, Brady.

Speaker 3 (22:34):
Being professionals, Lee do better, which I'm seriously going to
adopt the child for Lee, and.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
This is your child.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
I just see and see how Lee's life changes dramatically.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
Do better.

Speaker 9 (22:47):
I want to do one of those classes where they
give you like an egg and see if you could
like keep it alive.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
For a week.

Speaker 6 (22:52):
Right, I mean, let's start off with this, Lee. Let's
have you adopt a puppy. All right, you're gonna adopt
a puppy from the shelter.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
We'll see.

Speaker 4 (22:59):
How how about that? I love puppies. Yeah, I'll take
a puppy. Oh man, I don't think so. I think
that's too dangerous for the puppy. Like no, he that
he had an alpaca. For a little while and then
well he didn't own it though, it was just a neighbor.
Now the authorities came in and said, yeah, listen, there's
nothing in the fridge outside of pop off and michelob light,

(23:20):
So why don't we go ahead and get him out
of here so you can save his life. But all right, well,
all right, well listen enough with that, and over to
this deon Sanders coach prime. The latest is there's a
reporter from the Denver Post who has now been banned

(23:41):
from asking questions of anybody. That reporter is Sean Keeler,
so anybody within the Colorado football program. He is not
allowed to ask questions because they say that he was
putting together some personal attacks, sustained personal attacks. He even
threw out a couple of nicknames to Dion, like the

(24:03):
Bruce Lee of BS deposition Dion. So thus he had
his credential revoked and he will not be able to
Now he can attend all of the football stuff, he
just can't ask any questions. So credentials still there.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
How does that work? The microphone, what happens is not allowed.
He can't ignore. He doesn't get the mic when they
hand it around like it just he gets skipped so
he gets to take notes. So Dion was like the
guy who comes in shadows. Everyone else were like, you
can't do or say anything. You just sit here right
hey bray and watch it observed. Hey, Jonis, can y'all

(24:40):
ask my question for me?

Speaker 4 (24:41):
Please?

Speaker 3 (24:42):
There was a guy I remember being uh covering the UFC.
They had an event out here in la and this
is back in twenty eleven, twenty eleven, twenty twelve, was
right when Fox got started their partnership with the UFC.
Until we were out there covering the event and one
of the main reporters for MMA was this guy I
think his name was Josh Gross I think it was,

(25:03):
And he was on the outside of the ropes and
wasn't allowed to interview, talk to anybody cover anything. And
I was asking one of the other people there, I
was like, why isn't that he's like one of the
main reporters that covers the sport like from its beginning,
And he goes, oh, he gave out the results to
a taped event. So Dana White pulled his card. He's
literally banned from ever covering the UFC again. Dang, it's

(25:27):
a little bit different though, that is the owner of
the league. I mean, yeah, but it's like, oh, you
want to play that game?

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Cool?

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Zero access, have fun doing your job that way. And
so that's what happened to this to Sean Keeler here,
he's not allowed to ask questions. So Dion was talking
with the media and just was asked about his handling
of negativity when it comes from reporters, and it sounded
like this, I hope that.

Speaker 10 (25:50):
I'm covering you from now through the Coach Football Playoff.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
I hope so too.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
Yeah, I pray so yeah.

Speaker 10 (25:56):
But I'm also known as a person that sometimes asks
less than supportive questions are critical questions.

Speaker 4 (26:03):
I don't know.

Speaker 10 (26:03):
If I ask a negative question, I don't will you
not answer them anymore?

Speaker 11 (26:08):
That's being negative right now? Like you take an approach
that I'm gonna be negative. I'm not negative to anybody
in here. I will challenge you and ask you why
or where this is coming from. So I'm not built
like that. I'm not built to hate. I'm not a
hateful guy. I'm not I come with love. I think
if anybody in here has had encounters with me, I

(26:29):
don't come with the bullet junk. I come with the
peace and the joy. Now, when you show me where
you stand, I might have to change that a little bit.
So I'm not gonna match your ignorance or whatever. Not
saying that you're ignorant, but a person, I'm not gonna
match that. Well, that's your prerogative. I don't have to
come you where you are because my life is complete.
I don't like what you say. What you do is

(26:50):
not gonna change my life.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
So there's your former teammate there, LeVar. Yeah, you want
it first, Q, or you want me to know.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
I actually listen to up on game.

Speaker 6 (27:01):
So I listened to you guys this past weekend, and
I listened to G justus a little bit too. So
I want this audience, obviously to hear how you feel
about it. And I'm just kind of curious if if
you feel the exact same is when you guys kind
I don't.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
Even remember what I said, but I will say once
that show is over, I move on.

Speaker 8 (27:21):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
I don't really think about these people in anything that's
going on too much. I do know this. I do
remember saying something to the effect of a lot of
the things that I learned in terms of how I
approach things was due to the influence of Dion and
how he took me under his wing when when I
was a rookie, you know, from laying out my uniform,

(27:44):
to my preparation of how I looked at film as
a pro, to how I conditioned myself as a pro.
I've learned a lot of things from Dion Sanders and
the one thing that I also saw from Deon Sanders
is he walked around as who he was and has
never He's never compromised it, no one has ever. I've

(28:06):
never seen any question of who Dion Sanders is in
terms of the understanding of himself, the standard that he
has for himself, and the way that he feels about it.
And I think my assessment of what's going on right
now is he's trying to create a culture that fits

(28:30):
who he has been and who he is as a
person now. Is that right or wrong for a coach
to do that? I would think that when you look
at a coach, what they bring to the table is
the culture that they envision. What they want their organization,
their team, what they want the culture of that place

(28:50):
to look like, is an extension of who they are.
And I don't think that people have always liked how
Dion goes about the way he does things. Dion's never
cared about that. He's always been unapologetically who he is.
And I think that's what he's bringing to the table
at Colorado. For right or for wrong. I think that
that's what he's doing in Colorado. And it's like, if

(29:13):
you're a player that subscribes to how Dion is and
what Dion brings to the table, you fit. If you're
a reporter, if you're part of his organization, coaches and everything.
If you don't, then you probably.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
Need to move on.

Speaker 6 (29:27):
Yeah, But to the point you just made about him
not caring, I don't know any of their coach that
has it in their contract that it has to be
what mutually agreed upon, yeah, for them to talk an
interview and all, Like, I've never heard of that.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
That that tells me that obviously he cares, right, Sure,
I guess the thing that.

Speaker 6 (29:52):
I kind of step back and look at it is,
you know, he's Dian is obviously one of the greatest
players we've ever scene, But as a coach, he's still
building that legacy. And I think the difference is, like
you look at a Bill Belichick. You can look at
Nick Saban the college level. You know, they handle the

(30:13):
media the way they handle the media because they've had
a certain amount of success, and so whether you like
it or not, you kind of just have to deal
with it until they're not. I mean everyone, I feel
like last year or even the past couple of years,
maybe you'd say since Tom Brady's left, has tried to
take their shots of Bill Belichick. And you know, obviously

(30:36):
Nick Saban, you know, left more on a high. I mean,
he may made it to the college football playoff, didn't
win it, but a little different set of circumstances. Now
he's in the media, maybe he changes his perspective of
how he deal with the media more. But the general
point is, you know, when you have success, you can
kind of do things the way you want and control

(30:57):
it more. And I think the hard part is for
a people on the outside from Colorado probably didn't you
view last year as a success.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
I think there's some people who did.

Speaker 6 (31:06):
There's probably some people who don't because the way that
the team fell off in the second half the season
or after the first you know, four or five weeks.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
Even though if you look at where Colorado was two
years ago. It was a huge success, right, like, you
didn't you more than doubled your return. You got four
wins and it wasn't even close to that. And some
people will say, well, look at conference play. They didn't
really improve a conference play. So what they improved their
overall win loss record, that they were one of the
most watched teams in celebrated teams and despite the fact

(31:36):
that they were winning. So imagine if they do improve
they continue to win, imagine what that will look like.
So I'm kind of I've got to somewhere in between
of really curious to see what this year looks like,
but at the same time kind of wishing that when
you're in that head coaching role, you just take it on,

(31:56):
like you take a head on whatever that may be,
the adversity, the negativity, whatever it is, because like all
it does is breed or open up, you know, like
a free range on anyone saying whatever they want. I mean,
that's the world in society we live in right now,
is that if you don't have a response or something like,

(32:17):
someone's gonna have something to say, some narrative is gonna
be spun out there and then it's out of your
control because you choose not to talk about it. You
choose not to talk to that person like this and
individual he's talking about, Sean Keeler is that his name? Yeah,
I mean, he's still gonna write.

Speaker 6 (32:31):
It's like it's like like if he wants to say
some negative, he's still gonna be to say some negative.
And by the way, this probably doesn't help his case
of not writing something negative. So I just I just
look at it and kind of go. He obviously cares,
otherwise he wouldn't put in his contract. Even then maybe
that he's just trying to control the narrative. But either way,
it's like, well, it doesn't really change the.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
Fact that you're still ultimately gonna be judged on whether
you would or lose, And you could you can ask
the question like does this create more distractions by little
things like this off the field?

Speaker 7 (33:01):
You know?

Speaker 4 (33:02):
The biggest thing to me is when when I've listened
to it and I've I've looked at it, I think
about it from this perspective.

Speaker 10 (33:09):
Right.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
The one thing that we said the entire time is
him him him, him, How's he going to handle it? Him?
Him him? Him? He has to win right. And and
the one thing, as like a former coach, the one
thing that I always thought about is I always want
to take the negative focus off of my my players
and put the negative if we didn't have a good game.
And it is local local reporter, this is a small stuff, right,

(33:33):
But nonetheless, the the the approach is the same. I
want to say things that say I could have done
better as a coach. I could have done things that
helped us out. We could have done better. Da da da.
In this scenario, my question is, Okay, I know Deon Sanders,
I played with him Paus we were teammates. I know
who he is, I know his character, I know him

(33:55):
as a person. One of the most solid dudes spiritually,
you know ground the dudes that you'll ever meet, wants
to help everybody out, is always there for you support
as a coach. Now, the question becomes, does this take
the focus off of the players and put it solely
on coach prime or does it make the eye of

(34:18):
the media take aim at the players even more? Is
it a whole is it a holistic approach? Are you
going after the players the same way you're going after Dion,
Because as Dion, you can personally say you're not doing this.
Your band you can be a part of this, but
can your players handle that? Everybody's not going to be

(34:40):
There's only I only know of one prime time Deon
Sanders as a player or as a coach. I only
know of one. You have children, that's great, Schadora can play. Cool.
You know Shiloh can play. That's great. Bucky is recording,
he's killing it on content, wonderful. But I still only
know one. Deon Sanders. I still only know one, and

(35:03):
I just wonder can his can his team handle the
amount of pressure that is continuing to mount on this
on this football program? And is it purely on him
or is it is it on the entire team? And
to me, that's the biggest question that I believe is

(35:24):
going to have to be answered moving forward into this season.

Speaker 6 (35:28):
The last thing I would say, just really quickly, is
his approach is so different or unique that there's an
element of a lot of people who've covered the sport
for a long time and they've never seen someone turn
over the roster the way he has or handle things
the way he has, And it doesn't necessarily make it wrong.

(35:48):
As as I said before, like in year one, there
was an improvement from the prior staff that was there,
and in year two, if he improves again, like that's progress.
So that doesn't make anything that he's done or his
method of how he's doing it wrong. It just feels
so different that people are like, well, this isn't gonna
work or this couldn't possibly work.

Speaker 3 (36:07):
Well, how do you know.

Speaker 6 (36:09):
We're one season into this thing, and I mean based
on viewership, based on other things, tickets sales working.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
It's working.

Speaker 6 (36:16):
It's working, and so you know, we'll see this year
if they continue to progress and they get the wins
and the ticket sales stay there, the viewership stays there,
that'll be one of the telltale signs. But that's part
of it too, is like from the media standpoint, there's
an element of like not wanting to trust or believe
that this way of doing it is the way to

(36:37):
do it when you don't really know because because no
one's really done it to this magnitude the way he's
done it. So that's one of the things I'm most
curious to see. Like I know everyone wants to have
like a hot take or a fiery opinion. I don't
really have one because I'd rather sit back and watch
football and watch the game and see like, hey, have
they improved as an offense?

Speaker 3 (36:55):
Can they block up front? Do they have balance in
a running game defensively?

Speaker 7 (36:59):
You know?

Speaker 3 (37:00):
And can they have they improved up front of their
defensive line?

Speaker 4 (37:02):
There there boy on Sapan Fitch and he coaching right now,
I know they're going to just off of that edition alone,
they're going to improve.

Speaker 6 (37:10):
Well, you hope, right, you hope because as you said,
as you said earlier, like you gotta have talent, and
that's a thing. Is as much as we want to
look at the transfer portal as a place to replenish
or get talent, there's also an element of like most
of the big boys schools, if they want to keep
a guy, that keep going to keep them.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
So if he left, it's like well maybe it's maybe
there was a reason why they left. You know, they
didn't bring it back. I mean, if you want to
improve your headphone game, you got to get yourself from
j Lab. JLab headphones are the best. You can find

No, no, no, the news.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
This is the herd Line News.

Speaker 5 (39:26):
All right, Ryan Music, Yeah all Ryan, let's go too, Brady,
Let's let's go all right. Texans and CJ. Stroud they
were the surprise team of last season. Now after acquiring
stuff on Diggs, well, they're just not really sneaking up
on anyone. In fact, that's what receiver Nico Collins had
to say about the hype coming into Houston this year.

(39:49):
Quote Stroud is special. He can make a play. He
can make no play into a play. Now, the expectation
is for us to go to the super Bowl. Thank
super Bowl, the high aspirations.

Speaker 3 (40:03):
But by the way, every team says that though to
start off.

Speaker 4 (40:05):
The season, everybody everybody's under Yeah, sure everybody has the
same right now.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
We all said it, but like there's only about maybe
eight teams that maybe actually cant.

Speaker 4 (40:15):
John Manon said he would bungee Cord out of the
good Year blimp at the fifty yard line at the
Washington then known as the our Skins made it to
the Super Bowl. And I don't remember what year was,
maybe one, Yeah, but he said it something. They thought
we were gonna make it. And what happened, Well, I
thought he was out of his mouth. Thought he was
getting older, and I thought he needed to retire at

(40:37):
grades that we ain't went wait and win nothing too
much Traducan, he thought, maybe too much. We were out
of the running before Traduccans were even in play. So
you know, there there's that hits. His Bowl proclamation was safe.
And by the way, I'm such an idiot. I thought
I had no idea. I thought tr duckcan was like
an actual bird. I didn't realize it was like a combination.

(40:59):
I don't tell to people of that, Matt, I'm such
an idiot. A turkey a duck. Yeah, they put them
to go. I just that's so good man, But don't
do there what there was a duck that had like
what like at the Dolphins season.

Speaker 5 (41:20):
Their season doesn't kick off until September eighth, when they
take on the Jaguars. Head coach Mike McDaniel announce today
Bradley Chubb and offensive lineman Isaiah Wins starting the season
on the pup list physically unable to perform. I'm gonna
have to miss at least the first four games of
the season. Should we be worried a little bit about

(41:41):
these Dolphins already banged up to start the year.

Speaker 6 (41:43):
Well, two spots they can't afford to be right, the
old line and a d line, I mean, the weakest
part of their team.

Speaker 3 (41:52):
It is funny hearing people talk about like this week
one and how it's gonna go for the Dolphins and Jags.
Does anybody actually think they're gonna get that game in?
Does everybody think Brown Flora went to a voodoo doctor?

Speaker 4 (42:01):
And got uh oh geez, they got got them joints
made up where they stick the needles in them.

Speaker 3 (42:07):
And stuff like that. South Florida Week one, that game
is getting moved to Monday. There'll be a weather delay,
there's gonna be some lightning. He's gotta be hoping there
that they don't win.

Speaker 4 (42:15):
Right, You think Brian Flores is written against join companies.
Would assume he's not gonna say it out loud. But
I mean a little bit of redemption, baby justification. I
don't know, Yeah, it's not that is not uh. I
just wonder if he's being honest with himself. But is
he watching the games like go Miami, all right, good
play Dolphins, or is he like you know, just fading

(42:37):
the Dolphins, wants their former team to lose. I don't know.
