Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Well this is You never know quite what you're getting
as a reporter the day of the draft, but there's
a lot of stuff swirling. Diana Russini weighing all of it.
The athletic senior NFL Insider cover the league for a decade.
Give me something today that's just buzzing. Is there is

(00:46):
there a you know, I heard Will Johnson is plummeting
in the draft. I thought he was such a good
player at Michigan. What are the hot rumors? You hear
and you're just not sure what to make of them.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Yeah, that's a good way to put it, because you
hear things and then you have to go check in
on how much you know truth there is behind it.
So there's some stuff running about gend right now. They're
running back, perhaps getting a little bit more love at
the top of the draft that we expected. I predicted
just based on some conversations that the Bears we're targeting.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Him, that they really liked him.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
And there's a little chatter out there right now that
the Bears may be willing to move up to even
go get him, but I'm.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
Not ready to go that far.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
The the other one that I've consistently heard for the
last few days, and I've even heard it from people
there is that Jacksonville is going to be electric. So
I don't know how to define electric for you right now,
but they want to do something with that fifth pick,
whether that means move up, perhaps maybe have a conversation
with the Cleveland Browns for that number two spot. Yet

(01:52):
I really think your Berry wants to move off that
I really don't unless Jacksonville's willing to give up a lot.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
But they apparently.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Have something up their sleeve that's gonna, you know, cause
some fireworks tonight. So I'm hoping they follow through. And
this just isn't one big tas.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
I'd say that. And then of course the quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
An hour ago I saw someone talk about Shador Sanders
is back in at three for the Giants after you know,
almost twenty four to forty eight hours now, we've been
reporting that the Giants collectively had made a decision to
move on and go best player available. And I'm still
pretty comfortable going with that that they're going best player
at three. They're still in the market for quarterback, of course,

(02:33):
but I see them just trying to trade back in
to get one if anything, which I know they're currently
making calls at this moment.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Okay, the Rams last year tried to move up to
get Brock Bauers. They went and got Matt Stafford Devonte Adams.
There's rumors they're frustrated with Kyra and Williams fumbling. They're
not really wildly productive at tight end. There's two big
time tight ends, three potential first round running backs. What
about the Rams in my mock draft moving up to

(03:00):
get Loveland? But I also think the Broncos love him
and the Chargers love him the Michigan tight end. What
do you make of the Rams last year? There was
a lot of talk they were moving up. In fact,
I got it validated. They were very interested in Brock Powers.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Guess who told you me on your show last year?

Speaker 3 (03:18):
We were on the show actually when I got the
text and we were talking about it, and you know,
eventually later I think the Rams wound up coming out
with it a little bit, or I think they shared
it in one of their behind the scene videos. Either way,
you look even back forgettingven last year when we talked
about the Bower brock Bauers potential trade up for it.
The year before that, remember they were trying to get
Dalton Kincaid, who wound up in Buffalo. So we're there,

(03:40):
oh for two right now in trying to trade up
to get the tight end that they want.

Speaker 4 (03:44):
And I think we've.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
All covered and seen less sneed for a while. We
know whose personality kind of just goes after it. So
to me, just knowing that they met with five different
of these tight ends coming up, that they like it,
there's a need, it just makes a lot of sense.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Now let me let me've preface this.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
With almost every team I'm talking to right now, with
the exception maybe one or two are trying to trade out,
right So I think.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
If let's just say the New York.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Giants call the Rams to try to get up, I
think Less is going to take that deal and try
to get out just because they know they can get
a tight end late in the later rounds. But that
being said, I think if they're stuck there and perhaps
this thing shakes out a little while tonight, I could
certainly see the Rams trying to get aggressive to move

(04:32):
up to get one of these tight ends.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
You talk to some people inside the league, what are
they saying about the draft overall?

Speaker 4 (04:42):
That it's weak compared to last year.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
I had one coach say this is one of the
lightest drafts he's seen in his years, and he's been
a coach in the NFL for over ten years at least.

Speaker 4 (04:53):
I had another coach say, there aren't a lot of Robert.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
De Niro's here, which one ages this coach, but also
tells you that his point essentially is there's not a
lot of big headliners.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
There's not a lot of stars, not a.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Lot of guys that stand out outside those three right
of cam Ward Abduk, Carter.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
And Travis Hunter.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Those are really the three, and then after that, you
know the Chador Standards sort of rock star name makes
this exciting, But in terms of the actual talent, there's
not a lot of pass catchers, there's not a lot
of great quarterbacks. They're just really strong players in the trenches.
And that's where I think a lot of these teams

(05:33):
are trying to be organized in this draft, in building
not just getting one offensive lineman, but getting two or three.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
Also knowing the.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Prices of these positions have gone up so much in
free agency that getting some of these young guys build,
bring them in, make them one of their own, and
continue to build on that.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
This is this type of draft where they think they
can do well there.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Yeah, So if schadur drops to the Steelers, which we're hearing,
does that affect Aaron Rodgers at all? Who you know
is ambiguous? You're not trying to guess what Aaron wants.
Is impossible unless you're a guess in a very tight
inner circle. But if shadu Or went there to Pittsburgh,
what does it mean for Aaron.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
I don't believe the Pittsburgh Steelers are doing anything tonight
with any regard to Aaron Rodgers. I think they're one
hundred percent operating as if Aaron's not going to be
here because they have to right so, look, they still
feel good they're going to get him. But until he's
a Pittsburgh Steeler, he's not a Pittsburgh Steeler. And we
saw him talking the Pat McAfee show about some of

(06:34):
the personal stuff he's dealing with, and we'll take his
word for that. And I know the Steelers are aware
of it, and they're going to allow him to handle
those personal situations until he's ready. But while he's doing that,
time is going by, and training camp is going to
be here before you know it.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
You know, we obviously have the OTAs now, and I do.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Wonder I don't know this, and I know I have
a shared thought around the legal lot of people have
said this as well, that maybe Erin's just waiting for
a better opportunity, a better team, a team that he
thinks he can step in and win.

Speaker 4 (07:07):
But for the Steelers, they're they're building this thing.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
They've got two superstar receivers on their team right now,
one they just traded and spent a lot of money on. Uh,
they need to get a quarterback that's not just Mason
Rudolph and they know that. And in that regard, by
the way, I know there's a little scuttle butt about
George Pickens right that they're looking to shop him and
trade him. From my conversations, nobody's called them, No one's

(07:33):
called for George Pickens yet. So maybe that'll change by
the time we get to the draft tonight, because that's
usually when it starts to heat up, when we're on
the clock. But for right now, George Pickens is a
Pittsburgh Steeler, and I don't get the sense from Pittsburgh
they're quick to get a move on this. They traded
for DK Metcalf knowing George Pickens is here and purposely
trying to amp up this offense. They're not going to

(07:55):
try to move another wide receiver. So they have another
need here, especially in a draft that they don't think
that they can get one.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Okay, Dallas Cowboys, I said earlier, I think they're going
to rebuild. I think if you have a bad old line,
which was bad before Zach Martin left retired, I don't
think you. I think the best teams in this league
we showed a graphic earlier the best o lines in football.
Of the top ten, nine teams made the playoffs, or
eight or nine teams made the playoffs. In an offensive league,
if you can't get push on third down, if you

(08:24):
can't protect your star quarterback, you're not a good team.
They got a bad old line My guess is they
would take a call on Micah. But everybody's got them
taking a running back, and I get it, there's a need.
Is there a chance they would take a swing or
move down that they're just active in Round one? Do
you believe?

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Yeah, I think they're gonna be active. I think they're
going to take a player.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Look, we talk a lot on the show about the Cowboys,
and we're tough on them for a lot of good reason.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
But this is where they're stars. This is where they
do well.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
They don't spend a lot of money in free agency,
but Jerry and Stephen Jones they do a nice job
of finding player and this is where they can shine.
You know, you bring up the point, are they rebuilding
here or they closer to that? At least they certainly are,
especially with the situations that they have, the holes that
they have.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
They don't want to believe that. They think there are
a few pieces away.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
But I could see them continually to focus on the
offense that is really where they need to get better.
And from just having some conversations around the league, it
seems that wide receiver is going to be the position
that they're going to try to look at.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Obviously, you know the other part of this.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
Colin and I had some conversations with coaches today about it. Look,
the board is going to move so much, and we
can all say we know what teams are going to do,
but we really don't. And everyone's got planned one, two,
and three depending on what happens.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
And then the.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Over arching storyline above this, which it's there and it's
not that sexy, but it's there, is Kirk Cousins, right,
Because if a team trades with the Atlanta over the
next few days for Kirk Cousins, that's going to change
their need for quarterback, which then affects what they're taking,
who they're taking, and what other teams are then going
to do. So that's that's one of the stories I'm

(10:07):
keeping an eye on and trying to stay close to
because I know how much it's going to affect a
couple of these rounds here, especially in regard to quarterbacks.
So you've got the Cleveland Browns, the Minnesota Vikings, and
the Pittsburgh Steelers who have all had conversations with Atlanta
about a possible trade for Kirk. So it's just something
that you got to keep.

Speaker 5 (10:25):
An eye on.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Yeah, the whole thing's interesting. I heard going back, I
heard Jacksonville really wanted Travis Hunter this morning. It's really interesting.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
So you're jack, I say electric, right, that would be
I would put that in as electric y. You know,
I've had a general manager not in Jacksonville say, you
know when I was just tossing that idea of like,
what do you think of Jacksonville doing this?

Speaker 4 (10:49):
His response was, that's a lot.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
That's a lot to move up for a position player
that you know, we're not sure how Jacksonville would use them.
I do know Jacksonville wants offensive player, so it would
make sense that that Travis Hunter would go there and
be a wide receiver for them. Obviously, we know the
player wants to play both sides of the ball, so
maybe that's something that this new regime would be open to.
But if there's a team that is going to make

(11:15):
a statement tonight, that certainly can be it if they
do that, right, But then think about it, So Travis
Hunter goes to we'll see the Browns move out. We
still go back to what are the Browns going to
be doing at quarterback? I still think that's going to
be a question, right, because you've got Joe Flacco there,
Kenny Pickett, you have Deshaun there.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
But you know that situation.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
At this point, I still think they were to try
to get someone somewhere. We didn't talk about the Saints.
I know we talked about Shador and there was there
was some scuttle but about the Saints possibly showing interest
in him. I feel pretty confident at this hour telling
you that they are not going quarterback with that pick
at nine, that they are going best player available, and

(11:59):
if they had a choice today, it would be defense.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
They're they're redoing their front, so they need some players.
Camp Jordan's getting older. But I do think they're they're
in the market for a quarterback. I just don't think
it's gonna be with their first pick there, you know,
in the top ten.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon Easter non am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
App Diana Russini. Such a fun night, great talking to you.
Oh thank you, Diana.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
I'm glad that you think it's so fun. It stresses
me out, stresses me out.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
I just sit here, I'm gonna have a corona and
henik In or something and watch the whole thing. I'm
excited and.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
Now, well, instead of me sitting here in col New Jersey,
I'm gonna come out to California to have a cocktail
with you one draft.

Speaker 4 (12:43):
But let's let's plan for it in the future.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
We'll have our own war room, all the cool people. Yeah,
I love it.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
Let's do it a small group.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
There you go, the athletic Diana Russini. J Mack By
the way, good NBA night, Nuggets play the Clippers tonight,
Nick's early game. I'm gonna watch the first half of
the next day intently against the Pistons. We both like,
so we've been I think we've done three days in
a row, three games in a row, so we both
like the Knick tonight minus one and a half.

Speaker 6 (13:09):
I'm a little freaked out about the half point, so
i want minus one with a little juice.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Okay, what about the Clippers Nuggets? What's the line?

Speaker 5 (13:15):
I'm not touching that.

Speaker 6 (13:16):
I don't understand that series at all. I think I
saw five and a half.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
I don't have it up. Oh sorry, it might be
three and a half.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Getting five and a.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
Half, I'll have to look.

Speaker 6 (13:23):
Listen Denver at home in the altitude, different story or
is the game in here in La?

Speaker 5 (13:29):
So it's in La?

Speaker 6 (13:29):
What am I talking about? Yeah, I'm looking into some
of this draft stuff. Sorry, I was off the off.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
It's okay, off there. Yeah, it's fun. Jmack with the news.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
No turns. This is the herd line.

Speaker 6 (13:43):
The first story Colin is about the Dallas Cowboys. And listen,
there's no way to slice this. They've been terrible this offseason.
Yet you know, you got the Jones family. Jerry Jones
said he's been working on substantial trades, and now Stephen
Jones spoke out and said they've handled this offseason much
more better than last.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Ooh ooh.

Speaker 7 (14:02):
I think we did a you know, overall, a much
better job than let's say last year of really you know,
doing quite a bit of volume in terms of really
improving our roster and giving us, you know, the opportunity
and having an environment where we can pick the best player.

(14:22):
And I think our work we did in free agency
is going to really pay off. I think it's going
to make us a deeper football team one way or
the other.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
I do not see it at all. What they see
and what I see maybe I'm just off. I don't
think it's a top ten roster. I don't think it's
a top fifteen offensive line.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
So these are all the.

Speaker 6 (14:44):
Moves they've made on the screen here, Sorry, radio audience,
but it's.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
None of it are worth. I think Javonte Williams is
a decent running back.

Speaker 5 (14:52):
I like him decent. What he's a two at best.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Yeah, he's a number two running back. But they have
a two. They can get a one in the draft.

Speaker 5 (14:57):
But they lost.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Doubt them. No, I'm saying it. They went and got
Hampton and then they had Javonte Williams. They've solved their
running back room. That's a good. That's a good.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
They haven't solved their offensive line room.

Speaker 6 (15:07):
No, I had a wide receiver room.

Speaker 5 (15:09):
Like they've got so many.

Speaker 6 (15:11):
Kyer Elam was like, you know, he could barely get
on the field last year. The Dante Fowler junior at
Lil Long in the tooth, Joe Milton, I mean, come on.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
I think Javonte Williams signals they want another back, they
want to solve their running back room.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
Wait, you also see Miles Sanders there, the running back
from I think he was a Carolina.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
He's a bounce around the league guy. So they were
two running backs. He's I don't know, man, you can't
convince me this is like a seven win team.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Well, and they lost key players DeMarcus Lawrence, Zach Martin,
Rico Dadle was a good player for them.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
That was solid.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Yeah, solid guy.

Speaker 6 (15:45):
Yeah, I know he's better than Javonte Williams. Sorry, I
mean Solomon Thomas was with the Jets for a minute.

Speaker 5 (15:51):
He's not good. Kenneth Murray is probably the best guy
they picked up, I think, and and linebackers. I don't
know what the value is.

Speaker 6 (15:57):
So it's almost like these guys if it's like politicians,
If you lie enough, people start to believe it. You
could just keep saying, hey, we've had a great offseason.
We're doing all this stuff. It's great, we're making all
these moves, and eventually people will believe that you've had
a good offseason.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
But smart people like you and I can see through
this nonsense.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Yeah. I just don't think it's a very good row.
And they're giving away draft picks left and right.

Speaker 5 (16:20):
Milton Lance Mingo is a receiver.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
Mingo they have a fourth round pick. Well, they don't
have a fourth round pick tonight or this weekend. It's like, guys,
fourth round pick for you could be a number two.

Speaker 5 (16:31):
Corner doing very shady.

Speaker 6 (16:34):
Let's go to now the Denver Broncos. They hold a
twentieth pick in tonight's draft. According to Ian Rappaport, Denver
is one of the teams late than the draft looking
to move up. Rappaport believes they're targeting wide receiver Matthew
Golden from Texas. He is really talented. I think he's
going to Dallas. I guess the Broncos are hot for

(16:56):
him and want to move up now. There is a
report O'maran Hampton earlier this morning was the betting favorite
to be drafted by the Broncos. Again, these betting lines
are moving with a win. You know, like, I don't
know if I got bo Nicks. I'm going for a
wide receiver. I don't know about a running back. Who
are the two running backs.

Speaker 7 (17:17):
That you like?

Speaker 5 (17:17):
There's a usc guy as you can get later in
the draft.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Marks there's a lot of backs. I would say Denver.
I think they would go Colston Loveland. I think they
were like a clever piece to go with Courtland Sutton.
I think they'll get a running back. I mean, let's
let's face it, once you get the quarterback, they've got
their left tackle, they've got their number one receiver. Once
you get the quarterback, you gotta make it work.

Speaker 6 (17:41):
So their running back room currently is Jualil McLoughlin, who
flashed last year. He was okay estimate who their wide
receivers are, Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mimsen, and Valet.

Speaker 5 (17:52):
That's not a stroll.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
They also have Franklin from Morgan the rece's like to
list it a fourth on the depth chart. Well, he
was disappointed, and then they picked up.

Speaker 6 (18:00):
Evan Ingram the tight end, so free agency. He was
good last year for Jacksonville.

Speaker 5 (18:04):
Yeah, so like.

Speaker 6 (18:06):
They bon Nix need some help on the outside, I
would go get him another receiver.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Well, I don't think there were. I think Mims and
Courtland Sutton are nice players.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
MIM's is sort of one dimensional.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
He's a burner, but he can't do much other than
the straight line action.

Speaker 5 (18:19):
I like Sutton.

Speaker 6 (18:21):
I would go after Golden open it up. I like, Nick,
you've turned me on him. I was kind of lukewarm
on him, and you hyping the heck out of him
is kind of.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Well, I don't think I hyped him. I just alerted
you to the clear truth that was available to everybody.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
Final story con is to the NBA.

Speaker 6 (18:38):
Lakers are now knotted with the Wolves at one apiece
after Luca absolutely roasted every defender in his path for
thirty one, twelve and nine. I think you and I
believe that Luca is the best teammate Lebron's ever had. Right, However,
there's a writer named Tom Haberstrow who said that Luca's
thirty four points per game in his two playoff games
with Lebron partially makes him the best teammate Lebron has

(19:03):
ever had. Lebron has never had a teammate this good.
I fully agree.

Speaker 5 (19:07):
I don't think that's that hot of a take.

Speaker 6 (19:09):
Who's I mean, Dwayne Wade's a Hall of Fame I
think Luca is a much better overall player than Wade.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
No, well, no, no, Luca is the most gifted offensive
player Lebron's ever played with. Kyrie would be second, and
then I would say d Wade and A d Or
tied for third. Kyrie is an unbelievable player. Luca is
a bigger body, and I think is a greater pure score.

(19:38):
Lebron's had a lot of good Let's be honest, He's
had d Wade, Bosh, Kyrie, Irving, Luca, A d n Kevin.

Speaker 6 (19:46):
But he had to create those teams. He tried in
Cleveland for what eight years? They couldn't get him a
second start. Nobody wants to go to Cleveland. You know,
mentioned Delonte West or.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Whoever is a Druna selgoscolguskiz side Joe. I mean, I
would say Luca is the greatest scoring talent he's ever had.
But you're not going to get me to bad mouth
d Wade or a d. They're both Hall of Fame
first ballot, guy.

Speaker 6 (20:09):
Let me just your whole Kyrie is the second best,
most offensively.

Speaker 5 (20:13):
Skilled, gifted whatever after Luca.

Speaker 6 (20:15):
Listen, Kyrie has never been the number one on a
team that went anywhere in the playoffs. Dwayne Wade won
a championship as the Alpha. I think he's a better
overall offensive player than Kyrie.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Sorry, well, I think Kyrie is much more skilled. I
think Dwayne's a better overall player. He's more durable, he's
more physical, he could fit with multiple stars. Kyrie gets
hurt a lot but Kyrie is your classic. You know,
you go into a gym and everybody's like, what is that?
I mean, he is all time skilled, but he's a

(20:45):
small athlete that doesn't defend and gets hurt a lot,
and that's his career. But all you know, again hall
of famer.

Speaker 5 (20:52):
Let me ask Iverson or Kyrie.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Kyrie really more gifted.

Speaker 6 (20:59):
Allen Iverson took the Sixers to the finals and his
second best.

Speaker 5 (21:02):
Player with Mutumbo.

Speaker 6 (21:04):
Kyrie Irving has never done anything as a leader of
a team.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Never it's close. I take Kyrie. I think Kyrie is
a better offensive place.

Speaker 6 (21:11):
Can you get that in to put that poll on
social iver Center Kyrie?

Speaker 1 (21:14):
That is interesting.

Speaker 5 (21:15):
I don't think it's close.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
It's got to I get four responses on Draft night ahead.
I think it's close. There's things about ivers that I like.
I like his defense and his toughness. And with Kyrie,
I just loved what do I practice? Had its? I
don't care about kidding a joke. Uh Jmack with the news, Well.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
That's the news, and thanks for stopping by the herd
Line News.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Yeah, you know, d Wade's one of those guys that
he is. There's so much dexterity to what he did.
I mean, d Wade was an elite defender for his size,
elite rebounder, smart played with multiple start d Wade could
play with anybody.

Speaker 5 (21:53):
Hold on real quick. Just got the Clippers line Clippers
at home tonight.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Let me guess, Let me guess, Let me guess.

Speaker 6 (21:59):
Minus fourn half, it's five. It was five and a half,
down to five, So some Nuggets money coming in. There's
some question about Michael Porter Junior, who got dinged up
last game.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
I would take the Clippers.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
This series is crazy, good man. By the way close games.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
I wonder what I would take the Knicks minus one
to one and a half. Yep, and I would take
the Clippers as a favorite minus five.

Speaker 5 (22:21):
What about OKC minus nine and a half?

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Stand away from that mess. That's a mess.

Speaker 6 (22:26):
So TNT picked that game to televise over Clippers Nuggets.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
I don't know what those executives are thinking. That's a
crazy decision.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
Both both Nuggets Clippers games have been sensation.

Speaker 5 (22:38):
Yeah, right down to the end.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
And it's all a bunch of like name marquee players.
It's like Jokic, Murray Kawha. Yeah, Hardens got star even
the role players like but Toom have been around forever.
Michael Porter Gordon, that is a great first round series.

Speaker 5 (22:55):
I don't get this. Okac Memphis as like unwatchable.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
You know, the team again, it's no respect is Jannis
and Milwaukee. They got a title. They put them first
game up all the time that series to get out
of there. Man, the most underdiscussed team in the NBA.
That's good though. It is Indiana.

Speaker 5 (23:12):
The Pacers are awesome.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Yeah, they've got a ton of town.

Speaker 6 (23:16):
There's a report that Jannis will hold his going away
party at the Dells in Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
That shopping mall, by the way, nicest people in the
world in Wisconsin. It's beautiful. I went to a golf
course on the water up there. It's beautiful. Wisconsin's beauty.

Speaker 5 (23:33):
Private jet in played golf and I.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
Don't private jet anywhere. My wife went there when you
know as a kid they would go vacation. Uh, you
know in the Dells in Wisconsin, it's not a shopping mall,
and Wisconsin is like one of the lakes everywhere.

Speaker 6 (23:48):
You know, maybe this summer, if we go to Chicago,
we could do a weekend bender in Dell's, Wisconsin with.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
Me in Chicago. You'll have fun. Chicago's on the water too.
I'm just saying Wisconsin's one of those states that it
gets overlooked. Rhode Islands like that. It's like, no, go
to Rhode Island in Wisconsin in the summer. It's about
as good as it gets. As good as it gets, Oh,
I'm telling you, in the summer Wisconsin. Oh yeah, they
got beers that beers.

Speaker 5 (24:14):
Nobody else in America. Ass beers this summer. Cowherd, what
are you doing? All right, Rhode Island in Wisconsin.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
I'm a Midwesterner, all right, Live in LA.

Speaker 2 (24:25):

Draft Night Live lives right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
So there's an article that came out I think it
was Tom Pelisara at the other day and an assistant
coach hammered should Sanders and said he wasn't one of
the worst interviews I've ever had. And at the time
I just said, you know, take a deep breath. We
get all these all the time. You know, you're just
looking for information. But Joel Klatt, he touched on something

(25:24):
earlier today. I had mentioned it briefly. I feel kind
of the same way he does on this of the
harsh criticism that Shador Sanders is the worst interview ever,
and there's all sorts of problems. Here's Joel.

Speaker 8 (25:37):
We're teaching kids that the biggest issue or thing that
they should be concerned about is their brand and how
much money they're making. So then a lot of them
make a lot of money in college football, and then
they sit in these meetings in the draft process with
these assistant coaches that they make ten times more money
then and they're like, I don't like, who are you.

(26:00):
There's a lot of bitter assistant coaches in the National
Football League that have not made a ton of money,
and they have not moved up the ladder and then
these kids walk in and they don't kiss their butts,
and so then they run around to the next guy
that'll write an article for him, and they start talking
about how this kid's interviews were terrible.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
I think that exists. Jay McK and I have talked
about that is that you got to I don't give
a lot of people oxygen on the internet. There's a
lot of bitterness, especially when it's anonymous. Now I've had
to cover up. I don't give the names of a
lot of the executives I talked to, And the reason
being is that's how I get information because sometimes they
want your opinion too, like what do you I mean
right now? You know, if I if I talk to somebody,

(26:39):
they'll ask me question, what do you think? What do
you make? They want to They just want everybody's opinion.
I don't think. I mean, I didn't see anything that
indicated and I defended Caleb Williams last year. I knew
Caleb pretty well. Every interaction I had with Caleb Williams.
He was a gentleman. I mean, I remember walking into
a Notre Dame USC suite this year and Caleb was

(27:00):
in the first row and I just walked down to
him and just said, hey, just want to say hi.
He got up, he didn't have to do that, shook
my hand. How are you doing? And I was like, bro,
sit down, you enjoy the game. You know again, thoughtful
from what I've heard, was Shador. He's a thoughtful kid.
He's a nice kid. He's a hard worker. I don't

(27:20):
necessarily by that. Some of that stuff sounds personal, but
I do think Joel's bigger point is these kids don't
come in and grovel as much, and that's the reality
of it. They've got a bigger bank account than some
of these coaches. Now, do I think you should kind
of just you know, yes, sir? No, sir, Yeah, that's
probably you know. I mean, listen, we've all had to

(27:43):
kiss the ring to management at some point in our lives.
Like it's not the biggest thing for fifteen minutes to nod,
shake your head, and you know, we all have different
personalities based on the room we're in, right and who
we're talking to. So I think it shows some self
awareness if you're hum even though somebody's driving you crazy.
These are brief interviews. You're not sitting there for four hours.

(28:06):
So but I I don't buy a lot. Well, what
the stuff that always turns me off is the stuff
I can see? And I always had this this theory
that if a couple is arguing at a party, what
is it like on the drive home? Like, if you
can't hide your animosity or lack of respect for your
partner at a party, what is it like at your home?

(28:28):
And I kind of feel that way. If you can't
control your decision making or your judgment when the game
is going on, that worries me. You know, how many
times in your life think about this jam? How many
times in your life have you you know, you go,
you talk to somebody, and even in boxing, you have

(28:49):
three different judges, every one of them different side of
the ring, and they all have different perspectives. But one
of the things I've noticed is I've interviewed people from
my company and had multiple people at my company interview people,
and we all have a different perception of what the
person's like. That's why resumes are matter. Resumes matter, But

(29:10):
I mean, you can interview somebody and what is arrogant
to you is confident to me. So like Baker Mayfield
interviewed incredibly well, he was really smart, looked you in
the eye, very confident, great on the whiteboard. A couple
people said little cocky, which he was when he played.

(29:30):
But the people that I talked to that I trusted
are like, he's very He was better than Darnold in
the interview, and people took his personality as confidence. They
did they didn't take you know, one person said, you know,
he's Oklahoma cocky. You know, he's got that little little
chip on his shoulder thing. But the other two people

(29:51):
I talked to were like, he's just he was hard
not to like, well, what if you had given Maker
eight million dollars in his bank account because of the
I would Baker have been even more confidence? And that
confidence just move the meter to arrogance. So I think
these kids are coming in now. They don't grovel like
they use.

Speaker 6 (30:11):
How much does the setting matter if you're meeting someone
in an office for a formal interview versus going in
a car ride with them somewhere, versus having a meal
with them, I think that can matter and.

Speaker 5 (30:21):
Like change the situation. I like to see how people
interact with waiters.

Speaker 6 (30:25):
You know, oh, somebody smart once told me, you see
somebody treat a waiter badly, No please, no, thank you,
talking gruff, just no, that's coming your way.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
Asking you before. I've dropped friendships on poor tippers. If
you if you are a poor tipper, it's like, well,
I don't say, I don't like.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
Here's what I was. I was a poor college kid.
I didn't have any money. I wasn't tipping the pizza
guy every single time. Sorry, I didn't.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Not different, but people that I people that I know,
do well for themselves and treat help poorly or tip poor.

Speaker 5 (30:54):
That's a bad sign.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
It's a bad just like listen, I'm not kind of validated. Well, well,
I thought, no, no, you're cheap. You don't respect people.
That's good.

Speaker 6 (31:03):
How about this, somebody's coming out of Starbucks. I'm going in.
I hold the door for them. If they don't say
thank you, I turn and say you're welcome, so they know.
Like that's protocol. That's how you treat people. That's how
you are nice in a culture in a setting. And
like if you know Shador Sanders going to the interview
and being kind of not friendly, I don't know that
I want.

Speaker 5 (31:21):
That guy's my quarterback. I personally like him, but I
have an.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
Interview you know, Yeah, that's tough, is I mean some people.
I think Chadur's dad. I think Dion has given him
enough wisdom in life, because if Dion's had such a
wild varied I mean he's done everything, he's coached, he's played,
he's broadcasted. I mean, Dion's been around the block. So

(31:46):
Dion has so much life experience. I am sure he
has imparted some of his wisdom to his son. So
my guess is Shador didn't walk in and get real cocky.
I don't buy that.

Speaker 6 (31:58):
Also, Shudur probably also grew up in a mansion, driving
a really nice car in high school, and then he
gets to college and he's got the nil money flowing,
so he's.

Speaker 5 (32:06):
Been pretty well.

Speaker 6 (32:06):
He's nothing points to Shador being like a hungry coming
from the mean streets of wherever, like working his way up.
He's always kind of had it pretty nice, right. What's
your line about satin sheets and boxers.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
Well, Marvin Hagler said, it's hard to get up to
train at five in the morning when you're sleeping in
silk sheets. Once you're a champion, you know, Connor McGregor,
you got all that money, the whiskey brand. I'm not
saying you mail it in, but it's a little harder
to do.

Speaker 5 (32:31):
Instill that he was like a plumber on his way up,
wasn't he?

Speaker 6 (32:34):
Cony McGregor, his story is incredible, and then he gets
to the top and it's.

Speaker 5 (32:38):
Like, you know, a little different story.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
I don't know what.

Speaker 5 (32:43):
About my god, Jalen Molroe, no chatter about him at all.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
Well, he is a wonderful kid, and he's got a
great family. But when you watch him, you can see
the mechanical nature. He's not a terribly rhythmic athlete. He's
just a wildly gifted, fast, explosive athlete. But when you
watch him throw the ball in college, it looks uncomfortable.

(33:06):
It looks mechanical.

Speaker 6 (33:07):
That being said, I did bet him to be drafted
in the first round. Not not a significant bet, But
I'm just telling you, if you look at Lamar coming
out of Louisville and Jayla Milrolle coming out of Alabama,
who's the better prospect?

Speaker 1 (33:18):
See it again, Jayla.

Speaker 6 (33:19):
Milroe coming out of college and Lamar coming out of college.

Speaker 5 (33:23):
Oh, Lamar, Lamar Byer, we're telling him to switch positions.

Speaker 6 (33:27):
Well, one guy was a prominent former GM, well, I
mean I think it's close.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
I don't
