Speaker 3 (00:27):
Welcome back our number three year on the Herd. A fun,
Frisky Wednesday. Jason McIntyre in for Colin Cowherd joined by
Alex Hurry.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
Alexis show just flying by Risky. Yeah, okay, well Eddie,
how's challenging me to a ship? Balanced us at it?
I didn't put the swagger.
Speaker 5 (00:45):
I love that full interview was just like Chef's kiss.
I've never been dumped. Let me take you in a
three point contest and.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Bet you a bunch of money on it. He put
you on the spot.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Jam I got to ask Will Blackman, who's joining us
here shortly? Yeah, he's ever been dumped. Everybody's been by
a girl. Anybody who says they have it, I'm a
little suspicious.
Speaker 5 (01:04):
And there could be like a mutual agreement, but there's
also this.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
Cou thing where you have to talk tough and at hey, listen,
I'm the man. Let's do nobody's that cool?
Speaker 5 (01:14):
I mean he kind of had that. I'm my cool
swack he does have I would give back to him.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
I wouldn't put it past him.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
All right, So will Blackman, super Bowl Champ joining us
in studios shortly. We are going to start, obviously with
the Lakers, the new villains of the NBA. They went
into OKC for a two game set, smashed them Sunday,
and were actually playing their guys last night, going to
to toe, leading by one.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
On this Luca shot in the lane with about eight minutes.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Left, and then he got ejected, and what I thought
was a laughable ejection, just a a travesty, really robbing
the fans of what would have been a great, great
finish in Oklahoma City.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
So Luca scores, He has this back.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
And forth with a some meatball in the second row
and the referee doesn't see it, and the referee thinks
lucas talking to him, and the referee ejects him. And
my instant takeaway was, oh my god, the league, the fans,
the opponents, everybody hates the Lakers.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
They are the new villains of the NBA, the Lakers
with Luca.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
And Lebron two, and I'm sure they'd admit it. They
complain a lot, they flop, they're a little whiny.
Speaker 6 (02:20):
Listen.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
I don't have a problem with that, But around the league,
I think it's pretty clear the Lakers are public enemy
number one. My take was they're as hated as the
Curry Durant Warriors were.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
Kad.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Why you got to go to the Warriors, Why you
got to make them a totally loaded team? And everybody
did not like the Golden State Warriors as they began
a dynasty, winning two titles with KD and Curry.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
If you don't think they were hated.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
You got to go back to the Heatles, the Lebron
Wade team, which remember.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Not one, not two, not three. Everybody remembers that Chris
Bosh Wade and Lebron. People did not like them. And
now you look around the league and it's like.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Damn yeah, Dylan Brooks and the Houston Rockets coming for
Lebron and Luca, you know, getting in dust ups with them.
OKC last night was getting you know, firing back. Jared
Vanderbilt had a hard foul and Jalen Williams and guys
stepped up. I'm just telling you, around the league, the
vibe is, we don't like these guys. The Lakers, well,
the golden franchise in the league. They didn't need to
(03:20):
get gifted Luka Doncic in one of the big trade
heist in NBA history. How you got to give Lebron
who's forty Luka Doncic right after he took the map
to the finals. It feels like the venom toward the
Lakers is out there. Here's JJ Reddick on the ejection
last night in Okac.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
It was a great game.
Speaker 7 (03:42):
It was a great game that unfortunately didn't get to
sort of finish out the way that I think every
basketball fan would want because of, you know, some decision
making on some individuals parts.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Yeah, I would agree with Reddick. He was a little
safe in his commentary. But when it went down, like
half the Lakers on the court were like, look at
that guy in the second row.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
That's the dude he was talking to.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
We can hear him, Okay, because Lucas silenced the crowd
with the shot. The guy says something and then Luca
you know, mfs, which is fine. You know whatever, who
hasn't done that in a men's league game in the
NBA before, right, So after the game, Lebron had some thoughts,
and look at how Lebron's reaction is when he talks
about the ejection.
Speaker 8 (04:28):
That was a weird, weird we're a couple of minutes
after that, starting with the ejection, I don't know why
the ref was taking it personal. He had already gave
Luca one and Luca knew that, and Luca was going
back and forth at that time with a fan that
was sitting course. I like Luca does when fans get
the talk talk out of their mind, whatever the case
(04:50):
may be. And Luca was going back or forth in
the ref took it upon himselves. Think it was a
you know, reverse him or whatever the case may be.
But then another t on Vando after a block shot,
and the game was just just weird as tail after
that moment.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Yeah, yeah, I like it Lebron choosing his words carefully
so he doesn't get fined.
Speaker 6 (05:10):
By the way.
Speaker 4 (05:10):
I didn't.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
We didn't show highlights to the Vanderbilt block, but right
after Alex Caruso drove the lane and Vanderbilt swatted the
shot to like Austin, Texas.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
It was an.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Unbelievable block and he kind of flexed on him and
they were kind of face to face.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
But if you look at.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
The uploads, Vanderbilt didn't say anything and then they get
a technical for allegedly talking tracks but no words were uttered.
The refs were out to get the Lakers last night,
and I know people, that's not gonna be popular.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
I'm just telling you right now. Around the league, people
don't like the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Okay, it's Lebron, it's Luca, it's whining, it's complaining. And
guess what, the Lakers are going to the NBA Finals, folks.
I'm sorry, it's happening.
Speaker 6 (05:49):
All right.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Let's get to our guest, Will.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Blackman, former NFL star in the secondary.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
He's done some coaching with the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
He's think about wine connoisseur. His son's a good basketball.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
Player, wine maker.
Speaker 9 (06:05):
Now you're making you haven't seen it, black Manzella's where
you've been at JAB It's.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
All over You don't. You don't send me anyone. How
am I supposed to know?
Speaker 6 (06:13):
I don't.
Speaker 9 (06:14):
This is not the sending round. This is by round,
and then the next round will be the sending round.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
All right, so we'll do a lot of NFL will,
but I have to start here.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Eddie House came on and said he's never been dumped
before by a girl.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
You've obviously you're a man about town.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Yeah, he's stuck on this idea.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
He never let it be dump you won't let it go.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
No, I've never been dumped.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
No to say they've never been dumped. Alex and I
have been dumb deal.
Speaker 6 (06:41):
No, I'm not. I'm not ashamed like if I was,
I was, I just I haven't. I haven't really.
Speaker 9 (06:47):
Dated like like that where I don't know if like
like I've been in situations where I'm like, okay, it's
not really going anywhere, so you know, let me just
get out the wave, like, hey.
Speaker 6 (07:01):
I don't see a future, let's move on. Yeah, nothing crazy.
Speaker 10 (07:06):
Speaking of crazy, so I was focused on football.
Speaker 6 (07:09):
People welcome.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
You should have seen Aaron Jones here. I made Aaron
Jones score them a little bit yesterday. Good running back,
tough questions. We got some tough stuff coming. But I
need to start the Luca ejection.
Speaker 9 (07:21):
I know you're to think about it that I've been
married so long, I can't even Luca ejection.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Yes, Now, listen, we've seen we saw the Bears defense
last year against Washington with the Hill Mary right talking
to fans.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Did you ever get into it with fans? And you know,
what do you make of this?
Speaker 9 (07:37):
What's funny about that is like Luca was drawing the
first game, probably with the same person like going off.
Speaker 6 (07:42):
So this that was crazy. No, I haven't.
Speaker 9 (07:46):
I did tell someone to shut up one time, I
think playing against the Vikings. But we did play Minnesota
one time and I did lambeau leap at the Metro
Dome like at their at their stadium. And when I
went this lady had two beer cans and dump them
right on me.
Speaker 6 (08:04):
And then I just decided to take a step.
Speaker 9 (08:06):
Oh yeah, there's footballs. I feel like football is different.
But yeah, in NBA, like they're ruthless. You can really
hear them. Yeah, I'll tell you what. The worst place
ever though, the worst place in all of sports is SMU.
Oh my gosh, they are ruth They are ruthless. Wow,
(08:28):
they are ruthless. Like the stuff they say is crazy.
Speaker 6 (08:32):
I couldn't believe it.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
All right, So let's go to the Cowboys. You've done
some coaching with them, consulting what do you want to
call that?
Speaker 4 (08:40):
He was intern with the Dallas Cows.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
So there was an interesting article about how the Cowboys
have such a rich, great draft history.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
They also have Jerry Jones, who.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Seems to make bad decisions moving on from players signing
them too late.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
Do you think the Cowboys are into in line for
a good season or not? Really? The roster's not that
great right now.
Speaker 9 (08:59):
Yeah, I mean, I think year in a year they
usually are in position to have a good season. It's
just a matter of like, especially on the defensive side
of football, they've been just like decimated with injuries, especially
at the linebacker position. And then outside that corner you
had Trayvon go down one year and then Bland go
down another year. So they've been really struggling in terms
(09:20):
of that. And so the only criticism I could I
could say is really not addressing like the linebacker position,
like when it comes to free agency during the season,
because rander Ash went down and then Overshown went down
a couple of years ago, Overshon got hurt again, and
I remember in two thousand and was a twenty three.
They move Marquise Bell, who's a two hundred and ten
(09:40):
pounds safety into the box and then teams just started
to run the football like crazy, and that's what Green
Bay ultimately ended up doing. So I just feel like
it's just a matter of health and then right offensively,
I mean, just trying to find weapons. I mean, they
brought in you know, Brandon Cooks, who's you know, he's
known for just taking the top off of a defense.
But get somebody else on the other side of ceedee
(10:02):
Lamb who's legit like a nowadays you have a one
A one B, you know, or your number two is
making twenty million dollars, thirty million dollars. So it doesn't
matter than just finding weapons and then finding another star
running back. When you think of the Dallas Cowboys, like historically,
you think of them having star running backs, and ever
since Zeke got hurt and left, they haven't had that.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
I don't want to get off the Cowboys just yet,
but I do wonder you mentioned wide receiver. I heard
somebody tell me that they're probably gonna draft one at twelve.
Do you think that's the move? What about the offensive
line will? I mean, it's kind of in shambles.
Speaker 9 (10:40):
Yeah, I mean, I think there's ways to address the
offensive line schematically, but you got it. You still got
to get playmakers, man, you definitely do. And you can
get an offensive line, you can get great blocking, but
if you got another receiver that can't get off the line,
that can't get open, and so everyone's so focused on
Ceedee Lamb. And let's say you get a running back,
(11:00):
you still can't run the football. You got you got
to get played biggers for Dak so he can get
the ball out his hands.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
All right, let's stick with the draft and this Travis
Hunter stuff. Travis Hunter says, I can play every snap
in an NFL game.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
Well, you played cornerback, you think.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
You could go out tackle Derrek Henry ten times in
a game or five times?
Speaker 4 (11:18):
And then I'm gonna go catch passes and run routes.
Speaker 9 (11:21):
Like if I'm if I'm a cornerback and I have
to hit Derry Henry, I'm gonna be hot at everybody.
Speaker 6 (11:25):
Else, Like where where is my d line and linebackers? At?
Here's here's the thing.
Speaker 9 (11:32):
So I did play both sides in UH at Boston College,
and I was all big East corner and I was
all acc receiver.
Speaker 6 (11:38):
So I and I did play my senior year.
Speaker 9 (11:40):
I did play probably close to one hundred snaps a game,
and I returned, kicked some punts, so I was always
on the field. I think he can play both sides
of the football in the NFL his career, but to
start on both sides, to play every snap, like, I
don't see it happening. I can see, let's say, if
he's a starter on offense, and I can see him
(12:01):
coming in on you know, in nickel or dime supplementing
on defense, you know, or let's say he's a full
time starter on defense, I can see him coming in
on on O personnel which is five ye or one
personnel or ten personnel you get four wide, like, I
can see him coming in on situations. But the main
thing is it's not a matter of like his ability
(12:22):
that he can't do it. It's a matter of, like
can he sustain himself durability wise, because you're getting hit
by like every game is gonna be like when they
played by U. Every game is like that times ten
because you have guys all over the place who You're
gonna have linebackers that are running for threes just like you. Yeah,
you know, so it's it's just more so can he
do the en Plus there's gonna be other stars on
(12:45):
the team too, you know what I'm saying. That's gonna
be on this position. So that's gonna it's really difficult.
And I don't think he will. I don't think he can,
but I believe he will play both sides of the football.
Speaker 6 (12:54):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
So if we are to assume that Tennessee's taken Cam
cam Ward first, right, would you agree with that?
Speaker 6 (13:02):
I would say that's a sean possibility.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Okay, you're the Browns at two. You don't have a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Your owner just said we swung and missed on Deshaun Watson.
Travis Hunter's there, Abdual Carter's there. Let's just say trade
back is not an option. What's your move and your
advising Stefanski in that front office.
Speaker 9 (13:21):
Yeah, there's no way I'm training back for number two.
You have the most athletic player in the draft and
Travis Hunter right there, and and you're trying to put
butts in the seats.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
I feel like.
Speaker 9 (13:32):
Drafting Travis Hunter will have the same impact as if
you were drafting a franchise quarterback in terms of the
excitement you know for the team, and in this case,
you don't. You don't really want to get a quarterback
there because you're still trying to build this team. As
of late, the trend has been, hey, let me build
this football team and then maybe we can plug and
(13:53):
play a quarterback. Like right now, that's Minnesota's in a
position where you know, they had Kirk Cousins, he left,
they drafted JJ mccrath, that he got hurt, so they
bring in Sam Donald who goes off and gets a
new deal. Obviously Aaron is still out there possibly even
though they say that it's still a possibility, but that
team is still ready to go.
Speaker 6 (14:11):
And I just feel like you have to build.
Speaker 9 (14:13):
Your team because if you truly miss on the quarterback
again right now, then then you missed out on getting
players to build a team. Or you get to abdu
Carter because you know you paid Miles all that money.
Who knows what's going to happen three years from now
if he's still there or you want to pay him,
and you have another stud defense at the end pass
rusher there, so I think you get the best player
(14:35):
for your team, and then later on.
Speaker 6 (14:39):
There will still be another quarterback you can get it.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
I like that.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
I just my counter would be, Okay, that sounds great
in theory. Yeah, but Kevin Stefanski has been there since
twenty twenty. They went to the playoffs with him, then
they went eight to nine.
Speaker 6 (14:53):
So well as who though, Yeah, but who was the quarterback?
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Well that's the that's the other thing.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
It was Ben Roethlisberger the first year, Then it was
we don't have to figure it out.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Then it was Deshaun Watson.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Can you out three?
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Flacco carried them down the stretch after a three and
fourteen season. Do you think Stefanski needs to win or
could he get run off? If your thing is we'll
figure out the quarterback later.
Speaker 6 (15:16):
I don't.
Speaker 9 (15:16):
The quarterback stuff is not really on him. That's the
front office that did all that stuff. I think I
think Stefanski is a really good at coach because you know,
they're always in situations where they have a chance to
win games. And the fact that he's had all these
quarterbacks come through and they were still in position to still.
Speaker 6 (15:33):
Win games says a lot about him.
Speaker 9 (15:35):
So I think you just can see again, you build
the football team, you have to have a good team,
you know, Sirianni was on record saying, like, you know,
people aren't giving Hurts credit because he has all these weapons.
He's like, well, that's what you do for your quarterback.
I can't have bleep around him and expecting to play well.
So let me build my football team so that if
(15:56):
we're in situations where we truly need a quarterback, Let's say,
later down the road, there's a there's a veteran quarterback available.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
Kirks.
Speaker 9 (16:05):
No, I'm saying like later on, like let's say, like
it doesn't go well for the next couple of years,
but the football team overall looks good and they're struggling
at quarterback. I don't know, there could be another veteran
quarterback later on. I'm just saying down the road that
you can plug and play, kind of like how your
Jets were like no, no, blissen, but we truly like
(16:26):
I was one of those who were like, man, everything
was good, and it's like Zach's just not getting it done.
And unfortunately when Aaron came, he the year where they
were a talented team, he got hurt, okay, and so
I feel like if he did not get hurt, we
would not be having any of this conversation when they
come to him, because that team truly was a quarterback
(16:46):
away from having great success at that time.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
I just you know, you know these billionaire owners, you've
met a few of them.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
Do they have the patience?
Speaker 6 (16:55):
Will?
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Yeah, in a couple of years, we'll find a quarterback.
I mean, we're seeing the New York Giants. They're doing
this band aid with Russell Wilson.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
I don't think they're gonna win nine to ten games
to go.
Speaker 6 (17:05):
To the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
And I think Gable's probably gonna.
Speaker 9 (17:07):
Get fired after the season, right if they if they don't,
if they do not get it right. See, I actually
still have them getting a quarterback. I feel like they
have to go. They have to get.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
They got Russ Jamis Winston, and you think they're getting another.
Speaker 9 (17:19):
Quarterback, make it a competition, get the best person to
figure it out, because they they true, Dabo and Shane
are in this position where they truly have to get
the quarterback position right. They have to fix that because
I believe they are on a one year lease. If
they don't fix that, and only reason why I say
they or maybe another year because they inherited Daniel Jones
(17:40):
like that that wasn't. Usually when you get a GM
and the head coach, you have to get your quarterback.
And they never really drafted their guy. They inherited a quarterback,
and so I think they have a little more time,
but they have to figure that out, and so I'm
their guy.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
Would you go? Should do her at three?
Speaker 6 (17:54):
I would go shar three.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
Because that probably buys you an extra year or two, right, it.
Speaker 9 (17:59):
Does, because you have a chance to develop him. And
all the things that Shador offers as a quarterback are
the things I prefer. The biggest thing for me is
like his his mindset, Like he is a true professional.
Speaker 6 (18:13):
He's extremely confident.
Speaker 9 (18:15):
He's the purest pocket passer in this entire draft. And
despite I know they understand like he takes a lot
of sacks, but he was truly trying to make the plays.
And he has an unbelievable completion percentage and just all
the things that you want. People get so caught up
and enamored with, like the crazy big throws and this talent,
this arm talent. But at the end of the day,
(18:36):
if you can't process, if you can't understand what's going on,
if you don't he doesn't have a line or run game.
And he's still through for four thousand over four thousand
yards beach press and he does not turn the bowl over.
So my offic is the coordinator at Boston College, Dana Bible.
Speaker 6 (18:52):
You know.
Speaker 9 (18:53):
We asked him, like, what do you love about He said,
what's the one thing you want about quarterbacks? He said,
I want completions, like completions and this whole this whole
patent the ball thing, which is which is not said.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
Of one of your brother in a defensive back I
believe for my Jets said he's patting the ball.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
We're gonna read that, which means absolutely nothing.
Speaker 6 (19:12):
Would it helps with it helps with timing. Everyone is
with timing. It's funny.
Speaker 9 (19:17):
I went back and watched Jamis Winston's pro day. He
did not pack the ball once and homeboy is right now.
And I'm not a Jamis fan, but he has since
he's been drafted.
Speaker 6 (19:28):
He has to on the most picks. Yeah, everyone passed
the ball.
Speaker 9 (19:31):
I played with five, I played at Rogers, I played Eli,
I play at Russell.
Speaker 6 (19:35):
Everyone passed the ball the day Red Tyre recatch.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
Yeah, packed the ball right before you threw it.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Pat Let's see here. Aaron Rodgers do we have to talk?
I know you're kind of friendly with him, right, it
was kind of that's my dog. I'm not so did
you hang with him recently at that football thing? And
I got invited to that but I couldn't go kids sports?
Did you talk to Aaron?
Speaker 9 (19:59):
What?
Speaker 4 (19:59):
What's going on with him?
Speaker 9 (20:00):
That's so that'll No, he's not private, that's it's kind
of like, I'm not gonna he's getting talked about all
the day.
Speaker 6 (20:08):
Last name to do was like, hey man, you going Pittsburgh?
Are you gonna go? Like, come on, man, I'm not.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Obviously not a journalist. Will should he just been grilling him?
Speaker 9 (20:17):
Well, I have, Well, here's my here's my journalist. Is
that I did hear that the Browns are not going quarterback?
Speaker 6 (20:25):
I heard that at.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
Too ye.
Speaker 4 (20:28):
Travis Hunter most likely? Interesting? Did you hear that from
Miles Garrett? I don't know what the Browns are doing?
Speaker 3 (20:36):
But anyways, fine, let's since he's your guy, Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 6 (20:41):
I'm critical but fair.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
Should he pick.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Pittsburgh or wait for like another quarterback to get hurt
and go to a better team?
Speaker 9 (20:48):
I mean, I think right now, like the cool thing
is like Mike Tomlin is totally respected and he respects everybody,
you know, guys like Aaron Rodgers. So he's kind of
like like take your time, like do your thing, Like
I'm not going to put pressure or rush you like
none of that stuff, Like take your time, do your thing.
He already met with them several times. Sure, they're having
conversations the whole thing with Aaron playing catch or throwing
(21:09):
passes with DK. Metcalf is is. I wouldn't even I'm
not gonna overlook that, like like crazy, okay, because DK
runs routes at UCLA every year, like that's what he does.
He'll throw at Russell sometimes, he'll throw in airror sometimes
whoever's there.
Speaker 6 (21:27):
Like all the guys that they work out together.
Speaker 9 (21:29):
So I'm not gonna sit there and be like, oh,
you know, he's training with DK. So that's probably what
he's going there. It's like they'll be in La.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
No big deal. All right, Two more quick ones. So
the cornerback from Michigan.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
Yeah, when he studied him, Yes.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
It sounds like there's he was quiet on him for
a while. Now there's momentum. Now he's going top ten.
What have you heard anything about?
Speaker 4 (21:47):
Well, do you love him?
Speaker 9 (21:48):
As as a prospect, No, I think I think he's outstanding.
He has just that pure confidence in terms of like
like a true cornerback, and he does a great job
of finding the football.
Speaker 6 (21:56):
So I think just overwall, he has that just.
Speaker 9 (21:58):
That calm, quiet confidence where man cover his own coverage.
But the one thing I do love is just his
ability to attack and take the football away.
Speaker 6 (22:08):
He's a game changer.
Speaker 9 (22:09):
So he's been CB one for a while and so yeah,
I definitely see him going very, very high.
Speaker 3 (22:15):
We'll wrap up with this. So you were a fourth
round pick out of a BC. Have you ever had
any boddies whether did they get the green room invite?
Because Jaln Molroe got an invite and accepted it, and
a lot of people are like, why he ain't going
first round? I think that's kind of sort of a
tell that he has some sort of promise somewhere in
(22:35):
the first round.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
What do you what do you do you make of that?
Speaker 6 (22:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (22:38):
I mean, because what is the coaches or something like
that they make that decision on who There's something like that,
I mean in terms of his like pure ability, Like
I can see somebody trading back into the first round
and maybe maybe doing that. And I think he's a
(22:58):
situation where he's gonna have he's gonna have to be
in the right situation. He's gonna have to have somebody
who truly believes in him and is willing to coach
about It's kind of like when Lamar came out, everyone
was like, he needs to change positions, he's he needs
to do all these other things, and and Baltimore was like, no,
we're gonna go get him at the end of the
(23:20):
first round and we are going to make sure we
constructed offense around him to make him successful. And that's
the thing too, is like a lot of these coaches
they look at certain players and they're like, man, I
don't want to have to make a project. I want
to just find the guy who's already ready to go.
Carolina did that with Cam Newton. They were like, we're
gonna cater's you do get it. You cater your offense
to your player. You're not gonna make a player get
(23:42):
it to your offense. It's not gonna work. So I
can see somebody who's like, hey, man, like I see
this and I want to make it work.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
Hmm. Would you have advised him to go to the
green room, or now.
Speaker 9 (23:53):
Go to green Bay in the green room. If he's
in green Bay for a long time and he doesn't
get picked.
Speaker 6 (23:59):
Who knows. I mean I would go. I would say, yes,
just for the experience, like just go, I but just go.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
I'm sure Will Levis feels the same way after he
went to the green room.
Speaker 6 (24:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Yeah, he was left sitting around. It was that's all
kind of painful to.
Speaker 6 (24:12):
Wish I got. I wish I got a green room invite.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
You would have gone, huh see.
Speaker 5 (24:16):
Sure, be a part of the experience. It's it's like
it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Your life's about
to change forever. And if you're confident enough that if
you don't go and you're still there and you have
a good attitude about it, I think, why not take
the take the chance.
Speaker 6 (24:27):
And if you don't get picked, then you know what,
more few to the fire.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Yes, by the way, did you run better than a
four to three seven forty?
Speaker 6 (24:34):
I didn't. I didn't even train for the combine.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
I ran, which is a natural athlete.
Speaker 9 (24:38):
No, because most of these guys leave to go train
and then they have to still they still credits. I
wanted to graduate. Oh so I just stayed at BC.
I trained for like a week in Florida. I was
living with Devonharrister. We trained for Dion with Devin Hester.
We were the same class.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
He's like the fastest guy ever.
Speaker 6 (24:57):
Like he's the blur, no question.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
He's well, all right, we'll black great stuff as always.
Catch him today on Speak at five pm Eastern and
you go.
Speaker 9 (25:05):
To Blackman Sellers dot Com buy some and then they're
gonna wait for the sample round.
Speaker 6 (25:09):
You gotta wait for the safe.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
You'll make him by it. I think we do. I
can't promote that business, but yeah, we do order wines.
I'm not gonna promote their business anyway.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
Come up next, Alex will tell us why we're gonna
see fireworks tonight in one NBA city.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
That's next.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon eastern non am Pacific.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
Back here on the Herd. Great stuff from Well Blackmen,
more great stuff. Alex with the.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
News, No, no turn on the news. This is the
Herd Line News j Mac.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
We have one of the most anticipated matchups games of
the season tonight.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
Luca makes his return to Dallas.
Speaker 5 (25:50):
Now Most of the time when we see a homecoming
like this, it's because a player wanted to leave. But
Luca had never shown a desire to leave Dallas, and
we remember how upset that fans were when the MAVs
traded him. Also, this will be the first game that
Anthony Davis plays against his former running mate in Lebron James,
because he was injured when the MAVs came to play
the Lakers. But jamac this is going to be must
(26:13):
watch TV. Yeah, this is going to be absolutely intane.
Not only do I feel like Luca is going to
put on a show because of how last night ended
him getting fouled out of the game, but this trade
came just as much of a shock to Luca as
it did to the entire NBA world. And honestly, the
trade still doesn't make sense to me. I'm not complaining
(26:35):
as a Laker fan because, like, thank you very much, Dallas.
These fans, like we saw them not turning against Luca
but turning against the MAVs, Like people were canceling their
season tickets, fans were getting I think Luca jerseys for
the Lakers now because times I've changed, a little, right,
I think fans are a lot more player fan than
(26:59):
necessarily the frameranchise when you have a player like once
in a generation player.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
Like Luka Doncic.
Speaker 5 (27:04):
But this is gonna be this is gonna be wild.
They are giving fans T shirts like Luca T shirts
tonight with the saying on it.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
It's it's gonna be wild.
Speaker 5 (27:20):
I mean we we know, like who benefited pro here
you go, Yeah, it's it's it's Slovenian.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
So essentially, when the MAVs came to La Luca, he
was clearly not one hundred.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
He was a little stressed out. He didn't play great.
So this says thank you for everything? Okay is what
in sl is?
Speaker 5 (27:41):
What is what the shirt said.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
I just wish it wasn't on a back to back
for the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
It's not ideal and they need to go and one
in their final three games, but.
Speaker 5 (27:50):
They're gonna win it, like Luca's gonna go off, I hope.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
So what do you mean he's going back to his.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
Old stomping brasher he's got he's definitely got a chip
on his show like he was. He was shook by
this trade. He thought he was going to spend his
entire career in Dallas. He wanted to.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
He just went to the NBA Finals.
Speaker 5 (28:07):
And they traded away their best player. Like it's it
does not make sense. I hope he goes off. I like,
not only for him, but the Lakers need this one. Okay,
switch into the NFL.
Speaker 6 (28:19):
Aiden.
Speaker 5 (28:19):
Hutchinson snapped his leg in a horrible injury last year,
so it's great to see hutch back out. They're working
out here. He is at the Lions facility wearing a
knee brace and he's moving pretty well, moving side to side. Now,
this is big for the Lions. That was a huge
loss last year. He's one of the best pass rushers
in the league.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
And.
Speaker 5 (28:39):
I think it's important to get it back as early
as possible because they don't have Aaron Glenn anymore.
Speaker 6 (28:43):
That was his guy.
Speaker 5 (28:44):
Obviously, he's gone there as the coordinator. So important to
get in with the new system as soon as you can.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
Now you had what you have, You picked the.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
Under for the Lions.
Speaker 4 (28:55):
Sorry, hutch Does.
Speaker 5 (28:56):
This change anything?
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (28:58):
Healthy?
Speaker 3 (28:58):
Healthy and zig zagging on an empty playing field. Nobody
in the facility. Yeah, I mean no, he's a great player.
I wonder if mister Crosby is seeing that in Vegas.
I said, hutch was one of the best defensive ends
in the league and Crosby was like behind him. A
lot of Raiders fans disagree.
Speaker 5 (29:15):
Well, I was like, did Crosby come after you another?
Speaker 4 (29:18):
You made some comments. It's fine, you did part on territory, Alex.
We love to see it, all right, Alex Curry.
Speaker 6 (29:24):
With the news.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
Well, that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the
Herd Line news.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
All right.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
I dropped my four locks for over unders earlier in
the show where we're going to Vegas. Well, Vegas guy. Next,
Adam turnoff to see if I'm right or wrong. He's
got some grid drift input actionable stuff that's next here
on the Herd.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Ada'm happy to have you, man, very excited. I don't
know if you could top last year's showing. But we're
gonna do a lot of stuff here with the picks,
with the draft.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
Let's get started. Let's start out right with the draft.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
One thing you told me yesterday was you have bet
the Dallas Cowboys to draft a receiver in the first round.
Speaker 4 (31:05):
Chalk us through your logic on that one.
Speaker 12 (31:08):
I have thanks for having me back on in the
heart of football season here early April.
Speaker 6 (31:12):
I love it.
Speaker 12 (31:13):
I did bet it plus one sixty for the Cowboys
to take a wide receiver. I think they need to
find someone opposite of Ceedee Lamb. There's been a lot
of noise lately about Matthew Golden potentially going there. They've
had three different visits with wide receivers, and the Cowboys
are a team that have typically drafted where they visit
with players, and so there's some ties there and some
steam continuing to grow. But that's the direction that I
(31:35):
believe they go. I know if it was up to Jerry,
he'd want to draft a running back and then trade
up for another one. But I do think Genty's going
to go ahead and it's going to leave them taking
a wide receiver. So whether it's Golden or McMillan, I
think they take either one.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
So some of the mock drafts had a Hampton, the
kid from UNC going there. I'm assuming you don't think
it's him, and then you don't believe genty falls that far.
Speaker 6 (31:58):
No, I don't.
Speaker 12 (31:59):
And Brian Sattenneimer at the annual meetings last week was
talking about how this running back class is so deep
and it's proven over the last few years, as much
as he likes to run the ball, you're going to
be able to get running backs later on in the draft.
And so I think Hampton at twelve would be a
pretty big reach for the Cowboys and he was really
praising best player available. I would have a hard time
(32:21):
believing that, even as much as they want to run
the football, they would have Hampton graded higher than either
of these wide receivers.
Speaker 3 (32:27):
So, when it comes to betting on the draft, you,
as much as anybody, do a lot of breakdowns of
what you hear and see and read. I don't know
how you consume all this stuff, but what are you doing?
Shador Sanders wise when it comes to the draft.
Speaker 12 (32:38):
If anything, his price really took a slide after things
changed a little bit with Cleveland and all the news
to Travis Hunter is very much tied to the Browns.
Speaker 6 (32:48):
Now at number two.
Speaker 12 (32:49):
I think the Giants are pretty settled after signing both
quarterbacks as well, and so we've seen the price on
Sanders now. The over runner is eight and a half
and the over for him to be drafted ninth or
later is minus two hundred, so that's a considerable favorite.
The only real spot I see him right now as
we're talking going in the top ten would be that
the Saints. And I go back to a big NFL
(33:11):
media conference call back in late February, there were two
spots outlined that Sanders was deemed to be a good fit.
One was Las Vegas and then one was the Saints.
And it really sounds like the Raiders are going another direction.
And so unless it's the Saints, I think we see
a spot where Sanders tends to slide a little bit
in the first round, and the prices in the betting
(33:32):
market are certainly showing that at the moment.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
I don't know how much you've watched of Sanders or
done a deep dive. He's a polarizing prospect, you know,
at first round some people are saying Day three for
this guy.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
Adam.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
I just remember all college football season he was great
accuracy spot on and all season. We're talking about him
is one or two in the draft, and now all
of a sudden he's sliding.
Speaker 4 (33:55):
What am I missing?
Speaker 12 (33:57):
Polarizing is a good word. I don't know if I
was ever buying the top one or two. I think
that's just the league reacting to a quarterback class that's
a lot weaker than years past, and maybe some of
these teams at the top trying to justify trying to
go that direction or at least encourage trades from down
below to maybe get some more draft capital.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Everything that I've.
Speaker 12 (34:17):
Heard from people that I respect on the draft is
really more so filling a need with a starter than
it is just overwhelming top line talent where you have
a lot of options, and Sanders, for the most part,
compared to the QBS last year in most grading systems
that I look at, was actually behind Penix, and so
as much as he was accurate and some of the
(34:37):
traits that he was showing through this time in college,
it still wasn't a very high grade on him prior
to all this draft hype. And so again the betting
market tends to reflect these things quite well, and we're
seeing his price go the opposite direction of how the
hype is trending at the moment.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
One more quick draft one Jalen Milroe. I like him
a little more than others. Seems like nobody likes him.
Where are you on Milroe?
Speaker 12 (35:00):
Well, it's interesting because he was announced as someone who's
going to be attending the draft in person on Day one.
Typically from a betting standpoint, when that info leaks, it's
a really good indication that those guys are going to
be going in the first round. But Jason, I'll tell you,
I can't find anybody that I hold in high regard
for grading players and have a long history that's corrective
(35:23):
when they go in the draft that suggests that he
is a Day one quarterback. I'm just not seeing it anywhere.
And so again, as we get closer, there's oftentimes you
see some of these guys hyped up, whether it's for
trade interests or what have you. That's kind of the
impression I'm getting here because this has been a serious
one point eighty since that news came out on Monday
(35:44):
about him attending, and now people don't really know what
to make of it, and so I don't know if
I'm buying into this hype yet.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
All Right, let's get to I had some over unders
we talked about earlier. I had falcons over seven and
a half, Lions under ten and a half, Seahawks under
seven and a half, and Comes under nine and a half.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
Any of those you love or hate, and then we'll
get to yours too.
Speaker 6 (36:04):
Well.
Speaker 12 (36:04):
You want me to go rapid fire on each Agree, disagree?
You want me to tear you down and break your
heart here?
Speaker 4 (36:09):
Do it all? Please?
Speaker 6 (36:11):
All right?
Speaker 12 (36:12):
So I'll agree with you on the Falcons at seven
and a half, very manageable schedule projected to be the
fourth easiest. I don't need to talk about the offensive weapons.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
We all know they're there.
Speaker 12 (36:21):
They look great when Pennix took over late and Jason,
I'll tell you I like Jeff Ulbrick coming in as
the defensive coordinator. He's clearly not a head coach in
the NFL. I don't think he has to be working
with Robert Slaw. He was very serviceable at getting that
defense to buy in and play hard with the Jets
and coming over to work with another defensive minded head
coach and Morris letting him go back to being a
(36:42):
head coach. I think that's a really good fit that'll
elevate this defense if they can get a pass rusher.
So I agree there with Atlanta. I will also agree
with you on Detroit. Before I get to the two disagreements,
I think losing an offensive coordinator a defensive coordinator playing
in that division and having just a brutal road schedule
projected to be the most difficult for the Lions away
(37:04):
from Ford Field. That's a lot to overcome and still
win eleven or more games. So those are the two
that I would agree with. How how firm you want
me to be on these disagreements, I'm gonna let.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
You have him strong slad around.
Speaker 6 (37:18):
All right.
Speaker 12 (37:18):
So I think you're off on Seattle, and I'm guessing
that you're kind of skewing towards Donald and the uncertainty.
Speaker 6 (37:24):
I get it.
Speaker 12 (37:25):
But I'll tell you what Clint Kubiak with the Saints
last year before injuries derailed everything on that offense got
way more than anyone expected from a very questionable offensive line,
which the Seahawks have got a lot from a backfield
that had some question marks two coming in. I think
the Seattle offense is probably going to be better than expected.
(37:46):
And Mike McDonald, with the defense and what he got
it playing to last year at the level that it was,
is really quite dominant, and so I think Seattle's being
short changed here a little bit at seven and a half.
And then for Washington, it's another disagree from me, And
trust me, I get the regression and the third and
fourth down luck, the turnover luck, the overperform last year.
(38:07):
That's really hard to sustain season the season, and I
wanted to be on the under. I was trying to
find ways to downgrade Washington to get on the under,
just to go against that. Every projection that I have
run has Washington at ten. Wins are higher. I just
I can't get lower than nine.
Speaker 6 (38:22):
And a half.
Speaker 12 (38:23):
I think Daniels gives a floor to this team that
still is not quite being priced in by the betting market.
And I think Washington's getting honestly a touch short change
here with their win total. And so I disagree with
Seattle and Washington, but I'll agree with Atlanta and Detroit.
Speaker 6 (38:40):
So you got a fifty to fifty grade.
Speaker 4 (38:42):
That's fine. That works. Now we go to yours.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
You've been pushing, and I will say, folks, he is
the leader in this Bears under win total. We know
the bills are gonna be great, but let me let
me hear your big picture on.
Speaker 12 (38:54):
The Bears, I've described the schedule as hillacious, especially away
from home. Not only is it one of the most
difficult schedules overall that's projected, but there's no breaks away
from home. Jason like, this is as tough as it
gets for a road schedule, and depending on the draw
in May, if we see some of these early road
games frontloaded in the schedule, I'm just not believing that.
(39:18):
As great as we might see Johnson be as a
head coach, and the traits that Caleb Williams might have unlocked,
and the rebuild of the interior offensive line, I'm just
not buying into all of that clicking early. And again,
if this is a little bit of a tough schedule draw,
it's too much for the Bears to overcome at eight
and a half, and so I like the under here
(39:39):
on Chicago. I think this schedule is going to prove
to be way too difficult. They might be great next
year the year after, but this is tough sledding early
on in year.
Speaker 6 (39:47):
One.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
My best futures hit last year was partially aided to
you and then another buddy of mine, I went in
August and bet Eagles beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
Awesome hit, very happy. Some of that was aided by you.
You were all over the Eagle. I'm curious we both
have the Chief sliding. Is it too early for you
without a schedule to say who you think you would
bet like a futures matchup in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
To win the AFC.
Speaker 12 (40:11):
It's an easy decision for me. It's Buffalo, and we
had the graphic over eleven and a half. I think
that's a no brainer. They have a far easier schedule
than Baltimore, a far easier schedule than Kansas City. It's
a loaded roster, and I love that all their difficult
games are going to be played in Buffalo. Their road
schedules the easiest projected road schedule in the entire NFL,
(40:31):
which is hard to believe for a team that was
as dominant as they were last year getting that favorable
of a road schedule draw. And so I think Buffalo
here has the clearest path by far to the one
seed in the AFC. If you're putting me on the
spot for the hypothetical matchup, maybe we can do it
two years in a row. I think the La Rams
out of the NFC are the team that have the
(40:54):
chance to emerge. So I'll go on the spot here
and say Bill's Rams super Bowl exactly.
Speaker 4 (40:58):
Coward's gonna love that. He's big on the Rams in
the suit.
Speaker 6 (41:01):
Now.
Speaker 4 (41:01):
That caught me off guard.
Speaker 12 (41:03):
While the defense progressed far quicker than I think anybody expected.
They're in win now mode. They retain Stafford for one
more year. It's a team that's proven when they go
all in, they can get a lot out of a team.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
I think they can do the same this year.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
All right, final thirty seconds, How far do the Chiefs fall?
We have some aggression coming. Offensive lines in question.
Speaker 12 (41:22):
No, damn it, no, I'm this happens every year. Every
year it's the Chiefs regressing, the Chiefs over performing. They
made the Super Bowl with their two top wide receivers
injured for the majority, if not the entire season. Last year,
they had offensive line issues all over. Last year they
finally made a way. They find a way to make
it work every single time. I don't think this year
is any exception. But I do think this year just
(41:45):
that step behind Buffalo. So I'm not buying regression there.
Speaker 3 (41:47):
Jayson all Right, Adam Churnoff follow him on social media
right Angle sports eas he's crushing Adam.
Speaker 4 (41:52):
Great stuff and good luck in the offseason.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
Hell thanks very much.
Speaker 6 (41:56):
Enjoyed the spring and summer, all.
Speaker 4 (41:58):
Right, Adam Churnoff. Now, I was out of the corner
of my eye.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
I saw Alex like whoa when he said ram super Bowl.
I did not anticipate that.
Speaker 5 (42:06):
I mean, they look good last year, like if that
last play gets caught, they're in the championship game, super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (42:17):
I mean, I guess the NFC's a little down. Great show,
powerful stuff, a lot of fun. Thanks to Adam Will
our other guest, Eddie House, see you tomorrow.
