(00:46):
Tirec dot com the way tire buying should be well,
MVP Mike Harmon. Joel Embiid clearly showing he is the
MVP with his showing tonight. Let me wait a minute.
I'm not gonna do box score radio, but I want to.
I want to read the stature on Joel Embiid. Joel
Embiid fifty eight points in just nine minutes played. The
(01:08):
Sixers lead the Celtics one seventy four to thirty three. Well,
I mean really validating the MVP. Right, this is a
day where I really want to see in the postgame
press conference. Hey Joel boy, you're the MVP. Man, what
a night for you? Are you in the MVP and
you really validated this next night?
Speaker 2 (01:25):
I really enjoyed as you're bringing that, and it's like,
you know, the real MVP.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
My I thought you were gonna say, my my mom
is the real mvph Kevin Durrell, I thought that's where
we were headed. Kate Joe VP.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Okay, that's just to mock him right off the jump rebounds?
Did the Celtics decide not to play Jason Datum just
so they embiid didn't feel bad? Oom man, I'll tell
you that he only played his nineteen minutes with foul
trouble and seven points. Like, we're bludgeting you anyway. We
don't need to embarrass you any further. MVP, MVP, right, fraud.
(02:02):
There are six minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
The Celtics, I think it's safe to say they're going
to even this series at one game apiece. They lead
Philadelphia one oh seven to seventy seven. It is a
thirty point lead right now. It was a huge third
quarter for the Celtics. They pulled away in this game. Yes,
Jason Tatum only played a handful of minutes. He played,
(02:25):
as Mike said, nineteen minutes. He's got seven points, but
he was plus twenty four. The entire Celtics starting five
was in the twenties for plus twenty.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Big night from Jalen Brown, the Celtics all over the
Sixers and Joel Embiid validating his MVP with fifteen points
on four of nine shooting in twenty seven minutes, three rebounds,
no assists, no steals, does have five blocks validating MVP.
What do I tell you about Joel embi after today?
(02:55):
The video that gets out of James Hartenham gifting you
this MVP Rolex, he cares, he just give me this
stick in x slax watch and may he let move
into his house for three years? Em Beid is, why
am I not the MVP? What else does he have
to I don't know what else heyes to do? He's
the MVP. We always hear about how great he is
(03:16):
after a good game, but then when you have a
bad game, it's not We don't hear about MVP. We
hear about Steph Curry Bey and the greatest point guard
ever when he has a fifty points, But do we
hear it after oh man, they blew Game one against
the Lakers. No, we don't get though. We'll have more
on that game coming up in a couple And it's
just one game, Jason, But I just but I love Joellen.
We have hyperbolely one way, it doesn't go the other way.
It doesn't swing. The pendulum only goes that way. And
(03:38):
then it stops embiid who cares so much about the MVP, like, oh,
it's on the MVP finally. And I mean it when
I say I'm happy he won, so I no longer
have to hear him and the seventy six ers whin
about how he's the MVP. I don't know why he
didn't get the vote. I mean, because clearly something happened.
Probably the voter's just decided, we're sick of this. We
want to give it to Yokich again. But look, we're
(04:00):
just gonna give it to embid, which wait a minute,
this is the year you give it to Yokic almost
average a triple double. They actually finished first in the
West how is he not the MVP this year? They
were probably just sick of it. Let's give Mbad the MVP.
Yokic doesn't need one, he's got two. He's fine, he's young,
he's going to be a Hall of Famer. Let's do it.
But here's MBID validating because I've told you if you
(04:20):
if you put him to a lie detector and said,
what would you care more about winning the Larry O'Brien Trophy,
you're winning MVP. What have we heard more about from him?
And the six MVP, MVP, MVP, MVP MVP. What a
what an egg laid by Mbid after they win game
one without him? Now it's we can come back and
really send a message here in game two and the
Celtics just boat race them in the second half. Yeah,
(04:41):
he's not alone though, I mean, look, we're going to
be equal opportunity. Oh no, one man could have blown
this by himself.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
But still ambid of this particular game here because Embid
just four of nine from the field, three rebounds three.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
We had Looney playing less than a half a game yesterday.
He had more than exactly exactly our god, James Harden.
You may have heard the promo running on the network.
If not, let me give you the short form. You
were not going to see anywhere near another effort like
Game one tonight, two of fourteen from the field, twelve
(05:18):
points and out of his twelve points, eight it came
via the fall line, so getting back to the free
throw line. So that's good. Twelve ten and four on
the night in a nice robust minus twenty one. They'll
say it's the MVP hangover. That's what it's. It's the
MVP hangover. Well, you did you wear the hangover? Game?
Did m bed wear the watch? It might have weighed
him down? Oh oh, maybe maybe he didn't want to
(05:38):
get it broken. So that's why he was so delicate
tonight on the court and only played ahead, fight, drag bounce.
I got this why I don't want to go up
and want to go into the interior and work out
like those people you know where Apple watches it when
you just you tap him on the shoulder and I
can't break this as Apple watches a lot of money. Nah,
that's a lot.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
That's when you start seeing, Hey, you know they took
my cap when I left the concession stand at this stadium,
which means I mean there might be coke flying. I
want to see it fizz. I want to see it
fizz against the the metal of your watch. Tonight Show
brought to you by Discover. At the end of your
first year, Discover credit cards automatically double all the cash
(06:16):
back of her And that's right, everything you earned doubled.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
Seriously see terms. Check it out for yourself at discover
dot com. Slash Matt, Hey, guys, have you seen the ratings?
Nobody cares about this series or this game. You no,
we're getting there getting out of it a minute. Hey,
Joel Embiid is the MVP, and look how look how
great he was to not one person cares because hate
watching it.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
I mean we're on in Los Angeles High Am five
seventy l A sports fans out there. You hate the
Celtics and I think you kind of ran and we're
happy that Doc left too.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
So you're hate watching this series. Yeah, I'm just looking
at least paying attention to it. By the way, either
of these teams in the Eastern Conference Finals, there will
be either of these live betting thirty two and a half.
Right now, when you say thirty two and a half, oh,
what is it nineteen. Oh, it's thirty five right now.
That's tough, man, that's a thirty five with a couple
of minutes left. I don't know that's I don't think
(07:08):
I would take that. I don't think I would think.
Speaker 2 (07:10):
I think I'll just take my profit if I laid
the eight and a half or whatever it was pre game,
anywhere between eight and nine and a half, and I
just walk away, clap my hands and move on.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Way to validate Joellenbiid, you're the real MVP. That's right.
Your season award doesn't mean you're gonna perform. Now, let's
let's go from the junior varsity to the varsity. Yeah,
as we said a day ago, he said, for a
couple of days, once the sixer, once the Lakers Warriors
series starts, there's no room for anything. I have the
sixers on your brain there. Yeah, there is room for
(07:40):
Aaron Rodgers and all the wonderful things that his teammates
are saying about him tonight. But well, he said, he's
gonna work really hard. He is half an effort. He's
already shown up more in this offseason he did the
last five years in Green Belle. But that's what I mean,
I think he's already logged his hours. I've giving you
the weekend. I'm going to a couple of games. I'm out.
Ya has it gone, probably has one change of clothes
that going back to California, stayed in New Jersey. Who
(08:00):
picks New Jersey over California? Aaron Rodgers, Look at that.
Guys gots dedicated. But we got giant clothing districts you
can go to if you go down into Manhattan. Come on.
But the fallout from last night's Game one between the
Warriors and Lakers is absolutely insane. Like I said, it
feels like we've talked about this. It felt like Game
one of the NBA Finals. It felt like a game
(08:23):
that I don't know where we go after this series,
because the next ten days, nine days, whatever the series
winds up being, every day will be about this game.
We're dissecting single plays from these games, just like we
do in the NBA Finals, and and plays live and
have a life all the way through, from from the
beginning of the series to the end. It's just that
kind of series that we're getting, because look, are we
(08:45):
ever gonna get Lebron versus Steph and Clay again? Probably
not all right, So enjoy it while we're having it.
As a fan. There's nothing better than this, absolutely nothing better.
But the Lakers have a one to zero lead in
the day after, you know, a couple of things to
get into a little bit deeper, because really a lot
of what we saw and why the Lakers were able
to win Game one revolves around what we saw on
(09:07):
the final play of the game. By that, I mean
Jordan Pool's twenty eight footer that bounces off the rim.
Lakers get the rebound, hit free throws, and they they
cinch off the one to seventeen to one to twelve win.
I've told you now till I'm blue in the face.
We don't talk about the Lakers defense enough, right, We
don't talk about how well they play defense, how well
(09:27):
they've done so since the All Star Break slash trade
deadline when they remade the team. We talk about the offense,
but their defense is absolutely incredible, and they are one
of the top three or five teams overall in the
NBA team defense. And last night after the game was over,
we talked a lot about the Jordan Pool aspect of
it and Steph Curry and we'll get to that, but
(09:47):
just for a second, because after watching this play even
more today, seeing how it could have gone south so easily,
because we've seen the Warriors come down and make plays
or find a way, then you know they're the chance.
You know they're the champs, they're the you know they've
been in this situation so many times. But they came
down for that final possession and two defenders run at
(10:09):
Steph and force him to pass. Which that's a Steph
Curry thing, right, I've told you many times, Steph Curry,
you can't trust him at the end of games. You
can't get a shot off because he's too small. But
watching the Lakers rotate defensively, they did. They knew everything
that the Warriors were going to do because they throw
two guys at Clay and when you have the combo
(10:31):
of Draymond Green, who's not going to shoot in that situation,
it doesn't matter if you throw two defenders at Steph
because he's not going to do anything but pass the ball.
And you watch the Lakers roll their defense to the
right side. They knew Clay was coming all the way
around Lebron stays with him. This is in a transition
play where Hey we just got to stop something. It's
last eight seconds of a game, and Lebron stays where
(10:53):
you can't get the ball to Clay. By the time
Clay comes all the way around to the wing, he's
not getting the ball, and so Jordan Poole gets it,
and there were some things he could have done. Was
a twenty eight foot of the best play. Could they
have gotten it back to step there was more time
left on the clock, but the Lakers defense gave them
absolutely nothing, and so much so that on the three
(11:13):
that yeah, it was a good look. He was able
to get a shot off. He has a clean look,
but Jared Vanderbilt was able to rush him enough where
he was right there. Like it wasn't like catch, calm myself, shoot,
It was I gotta catch and shoot. And when you
got to catch shoot from twenty eight feet, there's not
a lot of guys can make that shot. The guy
that can make that shot two passes ago had to
(11:33):
pass it because he was covered and because Vannerbal is
able to get there just enough to be enough of
a hey, you got to get this shot off. Now,
it's not a great shot, it's too strong, bounces off
the rim, the Lakers are there for the rebound because
everybody is out on the wing. The Lakers played that
final play defense. That's a masterclass of being able to
get back transition wise, knowing exactly where they were going
(11:55):
to go, because you thought they would try to spread
the floor. But once Steph came to one side, play
starts going around the backside and Lebron stays there enough
not gets in the pot where he's in the passing lane,
and they're not getting the ball off. I mean, watching
that from the Lakers perspective, I'm like, wow, I mean,
that's some kind of coaching. That's some kind of we
understand what we're doing defensive You talk about gelling. We yes,
(12:16):
teams we watch them gel on offense, make the extra pass,
hit the guy who's open. We see that all the time.
But you talk about gelling defensively, that's what the Lakers
did on that final point. Yeah. We talked a lot
about the Lakers and the dominance in the post, the
fact that the Warriors settled for jump shot after jump shot,
which is their game. They don't have a lot of
interior presence, But there wasn't even an effort to try
(12:38):
to work down low for much of the game and
on that particular sequence, So timeouts in your pocket, nothing
to where hey bark out some signals to where you
try to set up another screen, either to free stepf
up or to do anything to slow Lebron for a
second so you can get Clay a look and look,
Jordan Poole's a guy that shoots.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
That's his job, right, We've talked about it all year,
doesn't play a lick at defense most of the time,
doesn't pretend to try, so the him pulling up for
a shot surprised nobody. I think the best laugh of
the day came Tyrese Haliburton was on a podcast with
Channing Fry goes, oh, that was a good look.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
I would have taken that shot. Frey responded with, that's
why you're sitting here with us, That's why you're sitting
next to me. That's pretty good line.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
I thought that was a pretty good response, and the
look kind of Haliburt's face like, too shame you got me.
But no, we have talked to like to think that
we've labored a bit with the defensive side of things
for the Lakers and brought that up enough. As you know,
Frostburn just kept yelling the Lakers were back and making
that one of the tenants and the ten polls as
(13:40):
to how this came to be.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
The Lakers are back out, the Knicks are back. I'm
ready for the Knicks Lakers Final. So shoel embiid. I'm ready.
So I was MVP, MVP MVP. Be sure to catch

Speaker 2 (14:38):
You know what Stevie Winwood's name is invoked. It's like
the raw Kershaw and Matthew Stafford thing. You have to react.
Remember when he was seventeen years old and he was
with the Spencer Davis group.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
It's all he was speaking of you.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
You know what I want to do tonight at some point, Yeah,
what about Kate Bush?
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Okay, well, first of all, all of favorite pass where
I got the idea the new are you really welcome back? Tysher?
What it FONNDS used to say, Hey, you're cruising for
a Bruis and Cunningham. It's too early to play this
song that was not Kate Bush. Ridiculous. I know part
(15:17):
of the Hall of Fame class this year for rock
and Roll right, rock and Roll Hall of Fame class
at twenty twenty three. We got to do at some
point later on tonight, we got to do a part
of the show where we argue over if these people
elected our Hall of Famers or not right, and we'll
do it. We'll do it pretty where where I get
(15:37):
to one of us picks the side we want and
the other one has to take the other side. Like
so I clearly would say Kate Bush not a Hall
of Famer. I outlay my case and you say why
she is a Hall of Famer. So we're doing a
TV show tonight, Yes, exactly, I want to do that,
but like we do it for baseball, we really should.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Have done like a two or three hour prep meeting.
Pro Football brought.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Hall of Fame. Yeah, Pro Football Hall of Fame, like
we are Hall of Fame's NBA Hall of Fame. We
had to do it for rock and roll hall. I
like that.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Let's let's go because because there were a couple of
folks that were left off the lists where it's like.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
Yeah, but how are they left off? And had a
couple of these how are they just getting in? Well? Well, well, well, hey, hey, hey,
well listen, did do Willie Nelson right now? Willie Nelson
Hall of Famer ninety years old. It's a lot of dope,
right alike, very much. Don't ask me, right, don't ask
(16:28):
him more than one of his songs Willie again, because
I don't know more than one, but ninety years old.
He's been a musician all this time. Hall of Famer,
Hall of Famer, Willow Oh you could go down the
entire poncho and left the album. Is that a real
Albut you just make that up. No, it's it's a
real it's a real thing. Okay, you can look it up.
Sounds like highway men, really good pictures for a baseball team. No,
(16:49):
it's it's great and Lefty there both. No, they had
a big all star concert this week here in Los Angeles.
Had Keith Richard showed up? Okay, wait was Willie Nelson?
The all Star concert was? How many? How many concerts
has he been selected to? But he was You have
to go to a certain number of All Star concerts
to be elig But it's the first, second, third team
All Pro. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, it's like
(17:10):
it's a It's like, hey, Willie Nelson ninety years old,
he's only played in three All Star concerts. That's three
All Star contents a seventy year career. Well, we've got
it on. He got to like seventy five. It became
a lot of All Star concerts. But I mean does
have a lot of them?
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Absolutely does he have like thirty All stars? How many
All Star Conscience is good for a singer because your
career is a lot longer. So let's say seventy years, Like,
what's the Hall of Fame level. For Willie Nelson, if
he does forty all star content, is that alone?
Speaker 2 (17:36):
I gotta say, though, he kind of got screwed because
he would have had a lot of these Hall of
Fame rock and roll Hall of Fame induction concerts that
are always all star sessions. Famously, you always see Prince
with my while my guitar gently weeped showing that. But
I mean that's like an all star concert right there.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Yeah, but he would get credit for one of those
every year, but he'd been invited, but he had to
wait till he's ninety. No, but well that but longevity
is part of it, la cal Ripkins a Hall of Famer.
Longevity is part of it. That was at logic. Yeah,
but like because if you go to the Hall of Fame, Yeah,
if you say major League Baseball, you're an all Star.
I say, you have a fifteen year career, you got
to be an all star around ten times? Right, If
(18:12):
you're less than that, it's every other okay, but also
around ten times that could it's not all of very good, right,
it's not the rock and roll all of very good.
That's pro football. Hall of Fames get because if it
right in Ohio it was rock and roll Hall of
very good. Then Kate Bush could get in. But uh so,
if you have a seventy year career, do you have
to do like fifty all star concerts? I mean, that's
got to be the number, right, you gotta be fifty
(18:33):
all fifty all star appearances.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Perhaps we'll have to look up how many he's got
on the resume. Yeah, Igain, it's funny because you always
we've got a promo running with Hall of Fame. You
butchered my reference point of the Toby Keith song.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Yeah, and once was as good. Once was as I
ever was. Once.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
He had a couple of songs on a number of
his albums where they were kind of what they called
the bus songs, and one of them was weed, with
Willie talking about how potent the weed was that you
got on his bus.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
The gonna be oh, I thought, like a song about
the bus family. They have a song about the bus family.
Is there a Genie bus song? Is there a Johnny.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Bus She's probably inspired some songs that was making sure
if the bus song, I'm not sure if any of
them were making by Toby Keith or Willie Nelson.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
All right, all right, that's I'm just making sure. But
there will have no deba snoop to all that. I mean,
you got you got a whole thing going. We'll have
that debate rock and roll. I like that. Yeah, let's awesome. Uh.
The Jason Smiths with Mike Carmon Live from the tirec
dot Com Studios. So I want to say today I
spent a lot of time thinking about what it was
like when a girl I really liked told me she
(19:36):
loved me for the first time. That you really like
did you make me in the way back machine? Uh? Well,
that's kind of what I was thinking, trying to remember
when that moment was. No, I remember when away, I
remember the first time I told her I loved Remember
the first time she told me she loved me? And
it was because it was I was like wow, I
because I can't believe it. I couldn't believe that that
someone I liked as much as I did liked me
(19:57):
back the same way. It's like I not, I felt
like I don't deserve it, but like that doesn't happen, right,
Like that's not gonna happen for me. It's a I
don't know, I don't know what's gonna happen. But I
think about that because I was thinking about that today.
Just another day of Aaron Rodgers saying how wonderful things
are with the Jets. His teammates all came out today
and said they're in all of him, saw Us Gardener,
(20:18):
incredible things. They went to the Knicks game last night,
sitting together. They had all kinds of Aron Wilson was
pissed he didn't get an invite. Garrett Wilson well. Gary
Wilson also said, I'm thirty years I could tell my
kids I played with Aaron Rodgers's it goes badly, so
don't worry about going back. That was a blip in
my career.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
I went onto a Hall of Fame career with Zach
Wilson's my guy.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Let's deal with what's happening now. And it's it's like
I can't believe it's happening that it's like it's it
still strikes me as this isn't real that he's a Jet,
He's a Hall of Fame quarterback, He's still got a
lot left. He's on my team, and I've actually seen
video of m practicing wearing jetscar and I still can't
believe it, and the team is it's the big honeymoon phase.
(21:00):
But it's like, I feel like I can't believe I
get this. I can't believe I get this luck. I
feel like I don't know is it gonna end? I
need more validation for it. I feel like Nate in
the last episode of ted Lasso. I need that constant
validation that my girlfriend really likes me constant. I kind
of feel like I need this every day. If two
days go by and I don't hear Aaron Rodgers saying
something glowing about the Jets, I'm like, do you still
(21:21):
love it? You still want to be here? Does he
want out? Do you wonder what's gonna happen? She's not
gonna show up to show up before game one? What's
gonna happen? But right I really I feel it's like
like when a girl tells you she loves you for
the first time.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Yeah, there's a lot of stuff I want to unpack there,
and one if I never see Nate in another episode,
I'm good.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Oh, well, there's a lot. Ted Lasso's got a lot
of problems this year. It's got a lot of it. Yeah,
I got a lot it's really spiral. It was, it was.
It was such a depressing episode last night. It was
just depressive. Oh it was awful, already spoiling last night's episode.
You say it for me. I know why it was
depressive because I told you, I told you today I
was having a day. I don't think watching all that
did not help. No, did not.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
I think I'm already and you know they're there's lots
going on.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
It was important, it was. It was a hairy episode.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
Yeah, it's it's huge a number of plot points, but
but it's still a comedy. It's still a comedy.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
You still gotta you can give me the serious and
give me the important stuff, and you got, but you
gotta entertain me. And I laughed once. I laughed once.
I left once at one of Jamie's lines at the end.
That's the only time I left. Fair point right now.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
One thing we can do is we can get you
in NFT or get They now make these things where
you can have like the Harry Potter moving pictures on
your wall like something ghost look at it. So you
could have that Aaron Rodgers drop back like that on.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
A loop undesirable number one. Yeah picture, Yeah, we can
we can do that for you. We can put that
on a loop. So all right, good, I already said
my date point. But the thing that was concerning with
Aaron Rudge was that he said, oh no, being a
little more than half of what's going on here's like,
(22:56):
which means he's already if you were to this is
a power bar, if you were in a video game,
like say you went and saw Barrio, okay, and I
just I'll just watch it free online because apparently it
cuts on evidently, but Monte gave me an legal link
to it that yeah whoa, yeah, yeah wow.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
That escalated quickly. But you know, you get hit and
all of a sudden the power bar he goes. You
go from one hundred strength to like twelve. Sure, it's
kind of where we're at with it.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
He's already used up eighty eight walking. Look, he said
he's going to be at half the off season. Yeah,
he was at zero of the off season for the
Packers of Laughing Year. Everything.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
VP, No, no, But I love watching you like a
little kid falling in love in spring.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
This is great.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
And then you're realizing everybody's graduating and it's like, wait, they.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Might leave town.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
They're making their decision on college. I may never see
her again. No, for a long time between now and
that opening gickoff Man due.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
But right now I'm running around like the girl in
the Blind Melon No Rain video and the Bumblebee outfitting.
I'm picking flowers and I'm dancing and I don't care well,
but that's enough. The bees don't last long either. See
what happened there? What a terrible why you got terrible example?
Speaker 2 (24:08):
She gets ridiculed and she's kind of sad Like I
thought that was there was a metaphor for just trying to,
you know, lose yourself from that.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
She was being herself and being what that's how happy?
I mean? You guys fast? You know? Okay? Yeah he's
in general, and yes, I know. Why do you gotta
go so dark? Why can't you just be happy and
think about the happy parts of it? The Bees are
gonna be rogers this season. I don't know. I think
it wead TJ. I guarantee you there will be no
(24:39):
rain on the Jet season this year, TJ. Or if
it goes badly, you will blame it on the rain.
Don't ask me to name another blind Melon song. It's
just that one. What do you mean half, Mike, It's
all right, but no, that's that's how I feel. I
feel like it's like I remember turns home every day. No,
did you just look that up on your phone? You
(24:59):
just have your phone in your hand. You just looked
it up. It says there tones of what, tones of
what is my past? Tones of missing one, toads of
what tones of home? Tones of home? I think you
just made that up? Or just have Shannon Huon rec
singing background for Axel ROAs. I don't think, well that well,
that's riff you want to talk about, though, was don't
cry right? He did the backup vocals on Okay, all right.
(25:23):
I spent a lot of money on helicopters taking the
roof back when people would spend a lot of money, Yeah, millions.
Was she gonna just have you guys in concert and
gonna light it and just take a little bit of
We're gonna get out of here by noon, right, we
get everybody out of here. Pretend to strum the guitar.
But it's but I'm telling you, Mike, I am I.
I look, I will get into what I think is
the dark side with Aaron Rodgers coming up because it's
(25:45):
only fair to do that.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
There is a dark it's important that you say dark
side for a gain that goes in darkness retreats, and
it has been known to just disappear from his team.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
What is what is the Hey, you didn't FaceTime me,
so you get nothing? What is that? What does the
Emperor say, Aaron Rodgers, I will lock your career with
great interest, young man. But no, but there is a
dark side. But right now I'm not seeing it. Man,
I'm just happy thinking the rug gonna get pulled out
from under me. No, it's it's totally great. This is famis.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
I mean, I haven't done my advanced review of what's
going on for the Kentucky Derby yet, but I imagine
there's at least one horse wearing blinders.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
That's you right now? Everything everything, everything is great. Hey,
the loser does not go into everything is great? They
all love him, they all ah you kidding. I loved
doling out the informations. I pinched myself every day to
be here with the jets with Who's ever said getting
(26:39):
the beer every day as a jet because he's getting
a lot of free t I don't even say that,
do you? Think I feel lucky that I'm a Jet fan.
It's a curse. Man does he get free street meet
when he walks around? Man every everything? You can't treat me.
Guy's not gonna pay for anything. And I don't know
that that's an actual thing. I don't think street meets
an actual thing. Oh it is, it's just not appropriate. Yeah,
that doesn't sound I don't even want to go on
(27:01):
the dictionary.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
And fine, that's that's old times square. It's been disnified.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
I'm gonna do that. I'm not gonna do it. No,
I don't want to be Oh, I'm so excited. I'm
not so I'm happy now because my team is good.
But boy, they brought me a lot of misery and
pain for the forty five years.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
Last time someone in a televised place in ARC saying
I'm so excited was Jesse Spanno when she was hopped
up on caffeine pills and was going nuts on Saved
by the Bell.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
I can't have you be that guy. Why are you
gonna be so dark again? Why I gotta be so dark?
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Positivity they helped her. That was about friendships, that's about
people looking out for you. Jason you think this is dark,
just wait till Rogers gets hurt.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Just boy, I may go right from Keen Frostburg's card.
Just see in all times together, because that's the Zac attack. Whoo.
I'm gonna hire some new people here at Fox Sports
Radio the next few days. Let you know that's gonna happen,
well said. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
(28:00):
seven pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show
with My best friend Mike Harmon My Upset Special, we
have more big takeaways from Game one of the Lakers
and the Warriors coming up next. Again, there's only so
much oxygen in the air, and Lakers Warriors is taking
up all of it. But two teams going in absolutely
(28:21):
different directions right now. To big market baseball teams that
have World Series expirations. One has them back after a
slow start. One may not get them back at all.
They're back, well, one team is back thanks to Max Muncie,
who chose today to hit a big home run instead
of striking out five times. Bunci with a fly ball.
(28:41):
All right, there's gonna be a walk off.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
Frank slam over the small wall and right a big
celebration awaits Buncy rounding third.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
His team is now gonna pound them with bins.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
The Dodgers crailed five to two and a half at
Lute with the grand slam off kimbro and the Dodgers
have won six consecutive game.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
Jason Shocker Kimberl gave up a grand slam in the nine.
I can't believe that that is really surprising. Uh in
first place all by themselves now with a six game
win streak, are the Dodgers. I leave the Diamondbacks by
a game and a half. And look, we talked about
this beginning of the season. It was gonna take the
Dodgers a little bit of time to get going right
because the lux injury was a really big deal. They
(29:32):
had to make a move, and suddenly, Hey, bringing the
young guys up. Taking some time away from spending a
lot of money in the offseason to see how the
young guys play. They can always spend money during the
season at the deadline and beyond they will. They didn't
spend money this year, which I get because you're coming
off one hundred and ten win season and you didn't
make it to the NLCS, so okay, I understand it
(29:52):
was gonna take them a little bit. But now the
Dodgers are back to being the Dodgers, and they're they're
kind of they've kind of back to that part where
we expected to be, even with a roster that's not
quite as good as it was last year. The Dodgers
are back to being the Dodger.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Well, but that's the thing, right as you got a
six game winning streak, everybody now with eyes towards the weekend,
as as your first matchup against San Diego, and you
want to talk about oxygen, I mean trying to do
a dual screen watching some Dodger padres. Love hate kind
of thing going on, right, love the rivalry, they hate
(30:27):
the opponent kind of thing that you'll have that in
addition to the Lakers Warriors. That's good time for everybody,
But I certainly don't except for my team, which is
just woeful. Even though they got to win today and
somehow that notification, even though I shut them off, still
came through for the White Sox as if to say
we're still here.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
We won a game. Pay attention.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
It's early May, so trying to declare anything definitive on
a squad is difficult, but they're still good enough.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
Well. But that's the.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Thing, right, scouting, longevity, consistency of approach, it's gonna win
out right. You trust that you're on the right path
and that as the season goes on. And this is
the beauty as a If you're a Dodger fan living
here in Los Angeles or wherever you are, or you
just like to watch organizational excellence, you know the approach
(31:21):
is the same. And in this case, they pulled back
on the expenditures in the off season, and you welcome
to a couple of those guys back to say, oh
it's good, I remember him, he was fantastic.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Trey Turner, Hey, good to see it. Yeah, you're not
ours anymore. So on we go and.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
Figuring out what the next iteration is. But at any
point a Brins truck could be called. You could tap
it like they do to the elbow to bring in
a guy from the bullpen.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Same thing. We need some cash reserves to go get
that guy. And everybody's waving against joey Otani down the
five now, speaking of speaking of cash, Brian Cashman, TJ
the Yankees well, things will look good for the Dodgers
they win today for three and ten innings over the
Guardians and Yankee GM Brian Cashman said, don't count us out,
(32:07):
even though they're in last place. Don't give up on us.
This is a championship caliber operation. See I don't know
about that man. Did he sing it? Because if he's saying,
don't give up today, Peter Gabriel, don't give up. Hall
of Famer Keith Bush, he could have made the reference great,
but he said, don't give up on us. That's the
(32:29):
David Soul song. Well, don't give up, Jacks. But the
thing about the Yankees and the Mets, honestly, and a
couple of other teams is that when you get old,
you get old fast. And it's not just about getting
old and not being produced. It's getting old and not
being able to stay on the field. And that's Stanton
and Judge and Donaldson and Severino and Canley and Aaron
(32:50):
Rodgers too many guys. Sometimes you get old. It happens fast.
How long will Aaron Boone survive before the Yankees make
a move? I mean, I'm not sold on the Yankee
This might be who they are now. I'm still surprised
cash Mean's there, but that's just me. Twitter and out
