On the Grand we got trolling and rolling with Martin
Wie's coming up at the bottom of the hour, and
then another edition of Bruce Art's Fabulous Five. That's right.
You don't want to miss that, all right, Rob, stop it.
I know you're in your kitchen getting cheese food when
(01:31):
I'm doing it. But still I cheated today, really was hot.
What you what you meant? What'd you eat? I went
to Olive Garden today with with the new mentee from USC.
I thought it was gonna be that that broadcaster that
complimented your gray hair. No, no, no, she lives in
(01:51):
New York, so that's not gonna work. So a mentee. Okay, yeah,
we went to Olive Garden. I just had pass. They
got good salad. You could have had. I had salad,
but I just couldn't do it. Churs, I have past
a long time. It is and you know what, it's
(02:12):
not too expensive in the food's good. That's food is good.
It is good. All right, let's get into this. This
is a highest serious man. This really bothered me today. Well,
and we've seen when we're gonna we're gonna relate it
to some of the things we've seen right recently. But
for those of you that didn't hear about this, A
broadcast a high school I don't know if I should
call him my high school broadcaster, but a broadcaster who
(02:35):
was calling a girl's basketball game in Oklahoma. His name
is Matt Rowan. It's out there. He's an adult. His
name is Matt Rowan. And he's calling a game between
Midwest City and Norman High. And you know, they're they're
talking about the upcoming game, and then then they stand
(02:58):
for the national anthem, and the Norman High School girls
they knelt during the anthem, and Matt Rowan, who was
again one of the broadcasts, one of the two broadcasters,
he thinks his mike is off, so he's comfortable here
it is, right, yep. So he's saying his stuff and
(03:20):
he's upset. He even be honest, Rob, he didn't even
sound it up say he was, but he was. You know,
he was just talking about clare. They Yeah, they're not
standing for the anthem, Are you serious? I hope they
get their butts kicked. Blah blah blah. I'm cleaning it up.
And then he goes fing inwards. Yeah, and and of
(03:43):
course everything is hit the fan now and Rob, so
he released. Now he went ahead and called the game
from what I believe, Lee, correct me if I'm wrong,
but he called the game. So I just want to
read two paragraphs of his uh his his apology robbed
Okay a press release, which is probably the worst apology
(04:04):
I've read. Reading the first two paragraphs, well, here these
are two of the four. It's plenty of paragraphs, but
here's two of them. I am a family man, I
am married, have two children, and at one time was
a youth pastor. I continue to be a member of
a Baptist church. I have not only embarrassed and disappointed myself,
(04:28):
I have embarrassed and disappointed my family and my friends.
I will state that I suffer Type one diabetes and
during the game, my sugar was spiking. While not excusing
my remarks, it is not unusual with my sugar spikes
that I become disoriented and often say things that are
(04:51):
not appropriate as well as hurtful. I do not believe
that I would have made such horrible statements absent my sugar.
You're spiking? Can you can I do this for you?
Stop it. You're you're blaming your diabetes for your racial,
(05:11):
racist slurs. For you to say that it was because
of your low blood sugar, Chris, that that came out
of your mouth. People getting low blood sugar, it's a
real thing. And you know what they do, They have
a piece of chocolate, Chris, because they're not feeling right
right to get it back balanced Pepper, Yes, yes, we
(05:32):
get it. Don't use that as your excuse that you
call these young women young girls the end word. What
they deserve that it's their right to kneel down if
they want. Why are you so offended? Did did they
call you out of your name? Chris? What did they
(05:53):
do to him? What did they do? They did nothing
but be black? That's what they did. This dude's that's
what they did. This dudes are racist. And he said
in his little comment, he said, uh, I've never considered
myself to be racist, So what you know what, a
(06:17):
lot of the slave owners didn't consider themselves to be
racist either. And I'm not just spouting that. That's historical fact.
If you look at every point in American history, slavery,
Jim Crow, the Civil rights movement to up to today,
there have always been a lot of whites who have said,
(06:38):
what's the problem, there's no problem. We're not racist. We
just enslaved black people. We're not racist. We just you know,
don't make them sit on the back of the bus.
We're not racist. We just lynch them. I mean, come on, man,
come on, and to throw in the church there. Racism
(07:02):
was upset degree. He was the worst in America. The
history in America is that a lot of it has
been tied to Christianity. Yes, you you are sullying the
name of Christ and Christianity when you attach your wicked
racism to it. Just going up to what you are
(07:24):
right that it has nothing to do Chris, he had
to mention he's a youth pastor and he's married, and
he asked, kid, what does any of that have to
do with what you did? You got caught on the
hot mic. You were doing, Chris feeling natural because this
is how you talk. Ye that that can never come
out of your mouth if you don't use those words.
(07:46):
It's just like the Miami Heat player Chris who said
he didn't know what he was saying. You don't know
what word were you using. You were using the word
you said, you don't know what it means. Well, and Rob,
I'm glad you brought up that a Myers Leonard because
remember there was another situation John Fox and he was
(08:08):
the I think I said his name right, foc k E.
He was a broadcaster for the Charlotte Hornets, and he
was tweeting something about a Utah Jazz Denver Nuggets. Now
nuggets is important Denver Nuggets game. He was tweeting something
and instead of nuggets, he tweeted the N word. Now,
(08:33):
I was talking with my wife about this, and this
happened in August, so you know, but nine months ago whatever,
and we were talking about it, and you know what happened,
almost assuredly, is that he despite his denials that he's
never used that word how and he doesn't know what happened, right,
(08:53):
that he probably texts with a lot of people using
that word, the N word, and so it although corrected
or something. That's that's what we think happened. That he
was typing it in huge and it it also corrected
to the N word, and he didn't check it and
(09:15):
and it ended up tweet. He ended up getting fired
after a two week investigation. But the probably I bet you,
they went through his twitter, I bet you or something.
I don't think he had a lot of tweet states
that yeah, probably his text and stuff, I would think.
But like I said, if indeed that's that's the correct
that theory is correct. But my point is this, right, Look,
(09:35):
I'm fifty two years old, and so people are age
Rob and a little younger are essentially the ones in
charge right right. I grew up I heard white people
used the N word. White people using the N word
like some didn't know I was black. I've heard it.
(09:55):
Some knew I was black and said it like I've
never heard I've never heard like that, like oh yeah,
and like in that light, like somebody just saying, hey,
you N word, get out of here, or something like never, like, yeah,
I haven't been called it. Do you know what faces
like that yet? But I've heard whites using that. I
(10:16):
knew that, you know, went to school with using it.
My father say, who's my complexions? He gotten some fights
in the army. He'd be around some white guys and
they didn't know it was black, and they they using
it and he fights in the army because of that.
But so my point is this, Rob, you know, people
act like it's so ancient, such ancient history. My point
(10:40):
is people who are running things right now, there are
age and I know growing up they were using the
N word, some of them. I'm not trying to paint
all white people like this. But uh, a lot of them.
Those people are in good positions of power in different
businesses and corporations and things like that, So obviously the
robe these guys, here's the thing, even if you are
(11:05):
racist like that, how can you be so stupid with
all that has gone on recently? You shouldn't be using
a word anyway, obviously, But I agree with if you like,
even if that's who you are, how can you be
so stupid to use it publicly, even if you don't
think you're on the mic, Like maybe the dude he
(11:27):
was broadcasting the game with. Maybe that dude would have
been like, Yo, what are you? What are you talking about? Man?
I'm telling you right now, if you were working with
a guy doing a game and you heard that, you
would accept that. No, you wouldn't no, no, And if
you were somebody else, even if it didn't have you
don't have to be black to be offended to hear
somebody utter that in public, like about some young teenage girls.
(11:52):
And here's the other thing these I can't get over.
How many of these guys harbor these feelings yet they
want to make money off of calling basketball games and
being around black people. Do you know what I mean, Chris,
they despised black people that much, but they don't have
a problem doing the game and getting paid. Why would
(12:13):
you even come, why would you even be a part
of it? You got issues, I think in this Again,
I'm not painting all whites like this, but that's American history.
You know, whites have liked being entertained by African Americans.
That's a history. That's why you know, Rob, you know
(12:33):
this as well as I do. A lot of black
years decades ago, a lot of blacks felt like black
people should not perform in sports or even music for whites, right, so,
so don't play sports. Muhammed Ali was in the Nation
of Islam. They taught that you should not play sports
(12:53):
and entertain white people. And obviously he didn't do that,
but that was always a little there was a little
tich in there early on because they're like, look, that's
not we don't believe in entertaining white folks when they're
oppression is like. And then and then they embraced it
because he became exactly, he made him a lot bigger. Yeah,
(13:14):
he brought publicity to them. But yeah, I mean, you
can go back in slavery and see that they would
set up wrestling matches and boxing matches between slaves black slaves,
and they would bet on it and watch it, and
it was a big to do. And you know, so
that's why you know sometimes African Americans and I don't
(13:38):
it's not a perfect analogy by any stretches. It's a stretch.
But that's why you've heard rob some applied slavery or
compared to current things. Right. Bill Roden wrote forty million
dollars slaves because again in slavery, blacks weren't entertaining whites,
(13:58):
and they would get little trinkets or whatever for winning
or what you know, stuff like that, And I think
the end of the day is risk robbed. I think
this supports my what I've said on this show before
that if if blacks, I think some of these racist
whites who you ask, why do they cover basketball and
all that, they they tolerate blacks and may even be
(14:21):
fond of blacks to a certain degree because they're great
athletes or whatever. But if if imagine if we weren't
such great athletes. I've always said, if we weren't great athletes,
I don't think race relations would even be have come
as far as they have in this country because most
(14:43):
white men and most men in America period like sports.
So you grow up seeing these great dominant black athletes
that you really like and look up and you have
to the coast on your wall and you and you
idolize some of them because they're just so great. But
I it doesn't change the way you feel about the
average black person. I can't run a four four forty,
(15:06):
you know what I mean? You can't hear from some
of our white listeners just when you hear this, And
I don't know what question you're gonna post to him?
You got, what do you got? But I just want
to know how surprised are you? Not black people? I
want to hear it from white people who are listening
to it, but but I don't. I don't want to
limit it though. If I'm black, put your call in.
But you don't have a comment. Yeah, but yeah, I
(15:28):
mean I hear you. Are you shocked by it? Or
you're not? Or you hear this? Do you hear this
when black people aren't around? That's what I want to know. Yeah,
keep it real, Keep it real real? Do you hear that?
You to keep it real? Is it this commonplace? Around
like when when it's not mixed company, when it's just
white on white and y'all just chilling. Do you hear obviously? Yeah?
(15:52):
Do you hear it a lot? And just share it.
Like I said, I grew up and went to predominantly
white schools. To my life. I heard it, so I
know it ain't used in words. Why you heard it? Yes,
So let's keep it real and uh. In fact, rob,
(16:12):
I told you this. My one of my serious girlfriends
in high school was Lebonese. Her dad wouldn't let me
date her initially till he found out I was lighter
than her. You know. Wait, yeah, showing your block right
and something. I mean, you know, But so keep it real,
keep it real on the eye couple, and tell us
what do you think of this whole situation? Is this
(16:34):
that commonplace among whites? We want to use the in word,
and look, if we're gonna move past race in this country, ever,
then y'all got to If it is that common, y'all
got to start calling each other out, call people like
not around here. Now. I don't want to hear that,
you know, if you really upset about George Floyd and
all these other things that have Happened all Right A

I might have twins like you. Chris, you remember this.
This was the jail. Yes, wow, yes, yes, So we
threw it and rob quickly before we get the calls.
Eight seven seven ninety nine. Fix lead the lap our producers.
Thirty two years old, white white guy. And he told me,
(18:48):
growing up in southern California, he does not hear he
didn't grow up here in that word like whites and
stuff like other than in rap music and stuff like that,
grow up hearing it. So that's good. I told him,
that's great. That's that's good. That so all right, you'll
turn away in let's get to it. Yes, let's get
as many people make your point. Let's do it. Sam,
and Indiana, you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
(19:10):
What's up? Sam, Tim in Indiana? Um, Sorry, but like
I listen to your guys show a lot, love the show.
The conversations you guys had need to be more about
topics like this. Um. I'm fifty one years old and
I was in the Marine Corps and it was just
commonplace for a lot of white people to use it
in there. And since I've been out of there, I
(19:32):
would call him out on it, and I was. I
lost many friends, especially in the service. So then what
Candida happened is most of my friends were either Hispanic
or black or some other nationality, just because a lot
of white people. Don't you not like to be called
out on using that word? Wow? Well, wow, unbelievable. Sam, Well,
thank you for a Yeah, standing up and that takes
(19:54):
guts and and that's a great calling. Honest, we lost them.
That was all right? Yep. Sean and Texas, you're on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up Sean?
Hey guys, John and Central Texas. How you doing, guys?
Thank you for having this conversation. Um, you welcome, so
real quick bit of background. I grew up across the
(20:16):
river from one of the major enclaves of the KKK
in the uf UM. Yeah, so certainly the word was
used in my house. I'm not going to lie and
say as a young person, I want you to thanks
for telling us. But you know, it's interesting that it
wasn't with hatred or malice, but it was always when
I grew up since that they are not us that
kind of of mentality, if you know what I mean.
So and so, I worked into twenty years for a
(20:39):
major tech corporation. I've heard it us one one time
in the work context. It was myself with a female
co worker and an African American colleague, and she used
it to uh in talking about something she had heard
someone else say, and she actually used the word rather
than the euphemism. That bothered me. I reported it to
my boss. There was a conversation between her and my
(20:59):
boss and her boss and the other young man. We
all agreed that, you know what, let's let's say this
is not right. We're not going to report and ruin
someone's career, but you know, let's make it very clear
that's not acceptable. And then we handled that way and
she probably won't do it again. She probably not. I
don't think so right, another good thank you. Thank Connor
(21:19):
in Colorado. You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
What's up, Connor? What's up? Falls love the show, appreciate
having me on. Thanks twenty seven. White guy here in
Colorado and whatever. It's predominantly white, and I would say,
you hear this word a shocking amount amongst people thirty
and younger, just in a hill context. Yeah, they're just
(21:43):
using it in a hip hop way, you know, not
did that excuse it? But you know what I mean,
like hate it more racial? Yeah, No, it's not in
a hateful way, but it's not also like wrapping along
to a song either. They're like sitting around the couch
calling each other and like a funny I mean yeah
(22:05):
white Yeah. And then just this last summer on our
outdoor court, I was getting some shops up and this
older guy, probably his late fifties was here. In the
music I was playing, He's like, so when you listen
to that, you wrap that word And I'm like, no,
I don't say that word. And he tried to convince
me that that's racism, and wow, wow, not to say
(22:28):
the word, to let to let black people have that
power over us, and I just I couldn't even handle it,
Like I was so mad at this dude for probably
like a whole week. Right, wow, thank you, thanks for
the call. Call, Yeah, thank you, good call. Let's que guys.
I'm being honest. Yeah, yeah, thanks for being it. Yes,
we appreciate. I think one of the problems with with
one of the deterres to us overcoming races if people
(22:52):
don't really talk honestly. No, it mixed company, you know
what I'm saying, especially publicly said it was using this
house like right right, So we want to squeeze one
more guy. I'm interested. Greg and Alabama Chris. He's on
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Greg,
what's going on? Fella? Thanks man? Yes, sir man. I
(23:16):
grew up uh in the neighborhood whatever two white families,
and the first time I heard the N word, I
started school and I went home and asked my mama.
I said the word, and my mama slapped me. You
know what I mean, Right, we don't use that word.
And you know white, I'm white. Yeah, yeah, okay, but
(23:42):
people are phoned judgemental. If everybody was just approach that
person and talked to him with respect instead of judging him.
You don't know how many times I've been with in
a car all the white people. Yeah, and a black
guy goes by and I BMW Mercedes or whatever, and
(24:03):
you hear, look at that, you know what out selling drug? Why? Man? What?
What the hell? Right? Of course I don't. I don't.
I don't tolerate it. I don't. I don't get out
and like that. Man, I don't. I do see color.
Somebody says they don't see color. They tell you that. Yeah,
(24:25):
that's a part of who guys. Somebody's black. We know that. Yes,
come on, let's not like but you know what, I
don't like to hear and and maybe I might offend
you when I say this, and I hope I don't.
But I don't like the term African American. You are
an American. I'm an American. You your color is just
(24:47):
different than mine. Right, Why do we see African Americans
or a white man. We're Americans, man, we're male and
we're female. I hear that from other people. Yeah, yeah,
I've never that. You know, right when you go overseves,
I mean, obviously you're still black, but you know, when
you go out of this country. You kind of think
(25:08):
of yourselves more as just an American, you know what
I mean? Um, But yeah, that's the long history of
this country with races, good calls though, guys. We appreciate guys,
you guys being honest and sharing your true feelers and
your true experiences. Like I said, Rob, that's a part
of as long as we just keep talking in cliches
(25:28):
and saying what's politically each other, right, we were just
fooling ourselves and and doing something we think needs to
be there to the roots. You gotta be honest. I'll
say this, without having listened to most shows on the
radio today, I could almost bet you that most shows
wouldn't even touch this, wouldn't even have that conversation. That's
(25:50):
what you're gonna get here. Chris and I are not
gonna shy away from things that matter. And I'm glad
you responded the way some people might have turned the
radio often don't want to hear it. That's fine, or
so bad you might have lied and not been honest,
you know what I mean? Son? That was good? That
was good. All right. It's the Eye couple, Chris and
Rob coming you live from the Farmers insurance. Fox Sports
(26:13):
Radio Studios called one eight eight eight farmers to switch
and save a bundle on your car insurance. Folks, It's
time for trolling the rolling with Mark Weiss, Tom Brady.
He's done. Aaron Rodgers did not have a Pro Bowl season.
Trying to gets me right. It's trolling or rolling, that's right,
(26:36):
trolling the rolling on Friday evening to disicate this is
your first time, your first opportunity to experience this little segment.
I'll break it down for you real quick. If Rob
and Chris liked the story I read, you hear the
roll sound they see me rolling, And if they don't,
you hear the troll sound. Oh man, hey, hey, hey, hey.
(27:00):
Ver Lawrence has been called the best quarterback prospects since
Andrew Luck. However, this week in anonymous Scalt compared his
accuracy taught another former top five pick, Blake Bortles, trolling
a rolling Rob that Trevor Lawrence will have an NFL
career more resembling Blake Bortles than Andrew Luck. I'm trolling that.
(27:23):
Oh man, hey, hey, hey, I just it would be
inconceivable if he wound up being Blake Bortles. With all
the talk about him and what I saw with my
own eyes and all that kind of stuff. I don't
remember Blake Bortles coming out of college and whatnot. I
(27:44):
really don't. But there's just been too much made of
Trevor Lawrence. I don't believe he'll be Blake Bortles. I'm
with Rob, I'm trolling it. Oh man, Hey, hey, hey, hey,
here's the thing about Blake Bortles. He would to Central Florida,
not Florida, not Florida State, Central Florida. And I'm not ripping,
(28:09):
you know, Central Florida, And all right, it's mid major.
There's a reason he went there. Trevor Lawrence has been
a blue Chipper since high in high school and throughout college.
And he's at the best program, or one of the
two best programs in the country, playing against the best competition. Yes, yes,
and people were just amazed with boarders. He's six five, wow,
(28:33):
and he dominated these mid major kids and all that.
But no, um, there's I look, you never know. It's
obviously a crapshoot to some degree. But you're right, Rob,
we just heard too much, you know, from people that
know the game and know the position, and as you said,
We've watched him ourselves, and I liked the kid. I
(28:54):
think he's a leader. I think he's a high character.
He can not only throw it, he's athletic too. He
can run. Uh, no way, no way, he's Blake Borders. Well,
we'll see if he's Andrew Luck, but there's no way
he's Blake Borders. I'll say this, Chris Broussard. I get
up early and watching every morning on First Things First,
chopping it up with Brandon Marshall. You better make sure
(29:16):
he doesn't hear you talking about Central Florida like that.
You know this is national radio. That's right. I can deal.
I can deal with Brandon Marshall. Don't worry about that.
I'm saying all right, stroller on a couple of Fox
Sports Radio. Now. Michigan Coachwan Howard was injected today in
(29:37):
the Big Ten tournament after a shouting match with Maryland's
Mark Turgeon. Now, these teams met three times this season,
and it was ugly all three times. Howard was walking
down the sideline. He says he was going to argue
a call with the rest. Turjan says he told him, Juan,
I'm not gonna let you talk to me, don't you
ever talk to me again? Of course shouting in two
(29:59):
after that, Chris trolling a rolling should Dwan Howard had
been ejected from this game? Well, I didn't see the incident, um,
so it's hard for me to say. So you're saying
based on what he said that he said, Yeah, since
Dwight Howard was walking towards the sideline, Mark Turson came
and started yelling at him and then Juan Howard. But
(30:21):
join Howard was going, he said, just going to talk
to the rep. Turgeon got to tchech. Howard got ejected,
so Turgeon started the yelling yes sir, without having seen it.
Unless Jerwine walked the Turgeon in some threatening way, then
what the story you've told me? It sounds like no,
it sounds like maybe they both should have got a
tea and that should have been it. So I'm trolling it.
(30:42):
I'm trolling it. Oh man, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey hey,
trolling it as as as well. It seems like it
was excessive and uh didn't even didn't didn't need that
to happen to Juwan Howard has done such a great
job at Michigan. Chris back on the on the map
and Martin, you noticed this is your alma mata. A
(31:03):
lot of people thought it was just the pr stunt,
right Juwan Howard as a coach, and it has turned
out to be a good thing for him. I know
he was because he was a part of the you know,
the Fab five. We gotta give those Fab five guys credit.
Jalen is obviously a very successful broadcaster. Jalen Rose, Chris
(31:26):
Webber same thing, very successful broadcaster. And Joan's turn looks
like he's a great coach at least thus far at Michigan.
So credit to those dudes, because a lot of people
thought they were just a bunch of you know, young
you know, rabble rousers, you know when they were the
Five five, and and maybe they were. Yeah, we all
were young and crazy at one time, you know what
(31:47):
I mean. But they right, right, I mean, you know
some really positive guys. I'll trolling that. I feel like
the craziest thing. Chris Russ didn't skipped church. No, No,
that's why that's why he's in church. Right. I'm not
saying I was all that crazy, but I was. Yeah,
(32:08):
I did some things I don't even like saying. I
don't like repeating man Well trolling rolling a couple of
Fox Sports Radio j Howard and Mistership may not even
have a shot this year because Virginia out Kentucky out Dukes.
They weren't gonna make tournament anyway, but they're out too,
because everybody's at the back out of their conference tournaments
(32:28):
after positive COVID test, Chris Trolling, the rolling that March
Madness is on the brink of total disaster. Wow. Um,
that's a great one. I'm gonna say, I'm rolling with it. Yeah,
just because there's gonna be a disaster, you think disaster, No,
(32:50):
the brink, I'm I'm more thinking college basketball in general.
We've talked about it, right, Like, I just think that, man,
there's so much pointing to you know, they don't have
the best college age players anymore. Now, they're starting to
lose guys to the G League. There's just no buzz.
I mean even a few years ago you had Zion,
(33:11):
you know what I mean, Like, we got nobody like
that right now. Nobody that's captivate, no individual and no
team that's captivated the national imagination like you've almost had
every year in college basketball up until a few few
seasons ago. I'm troll. I just think it's in trouble.
Oh man, hey, hey, hey, hey, I think right now,
(33:35):
going into it, you could feel that way, and I
understand it. But once Friday comes, after the playing games
on Thursday and the tournament starts and people get to
watch the games, you'll see who will be able to
emerge in the stories. And that might be just a
great little story that people can catch on too and go.
They might win the national championship, and might people might
(33:56):
tune in and feel good about the little engine that
finally food. So I'm gonna say I'm not buying that
it's going to be a disaster. No, I promise you
a loyal and Chicago goes onna run. Everybody's gonna feel
good looking at Sister g Bryan. I agree with you, guys,
And I'm like I said, I'm more thinking college college
basketball in the future, and it's not gonna school get
(34:19):
off on a big right, Chris. They could run and
catch everybody's imagination. No, I agree, I just and I think, look,
let's keep it real. I think a big thing is
the betting. People are really into the betting, and that's
always gonna have people because most of us don't even
know these kids anymore, you know, or to school. So
all right, Martin, great stuff, man, We appreciate it. Brother,
(34:40):
good job. All right, guys, thank you. Good weekend. Bruce

Chris and Rod coming to you live from the Farmers
Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios called one Triple eight Farmers
and save a whole lot of money on your car insurance.
It's signed for Bruce Arts five five. Are you ready
the heat like Lapron, We're going big. It's go town.
It's Bruce Sards Fab five. All right, here we go.
(35:26):
It's number five. Highest storylines of the second half of
the NBA season. Let's go Number five, the continued development
of LaMelo Ball. Yes, LaMelo Ball looks like a ball
brother that actually is going to be a star. Look.
He started sixteen games this season, the last sixteen for
(35:49):
the Hornets. He's averaging twenty points, seven assists, six rebounds,
forty four percent shooting from three as a starter, and
the Hornet best best thing. They're nine and seven during
those sixteen games. They've actually moved up to the seventh
seed in the East. LaMelo ball looks like the real deal.
(36:11):
Number four the MVP race right now, I've got Joel
Embeads slightly ahead of Lebron James and James Harden. Will
look if the Nets run off, I mean, they just
destroyed people over the second half of the season and
create great distance between themselves and Philadelphia or Milwaukee, whoever
(36:33):
second in the East. And Harden keeps playing like is
it is going to be hard. It's gonna be a
big time decision to not give it to him. Joel
Embiat is balling like crazy, hitting threes in the post
mit range, assassin, And of course Lebron is carrying the
Lakers with Anthony Davis out number three free agent signings
(36:57):
which should be happening with you know, within the next
few weeks and even trades, you know that trade dead
line March twenty fifth. Will the Lakers ask them shooting?
They're twenty fifth in the league and three point shooting
right now? Will they add a JJ Reddick or a
Wayne Ellington from Detroit, somebody they need some shooters. And
then where do I Andre Drummond and LaMarcus Aldridge and PJ.
(37:20):
Tucker go. I don't think those guys will be trading
maybe one or maybe Tucker maybe, I don't know. But
what I think a lot of them are gonna be
bought out and they're gonna go to the Lakers or
the Nets or another contender, and they could be a
have a big impact on that. Number Two Kevin Durant's health.
(37:41):
All right, he was supposed to be out at least
two games. That was the quote. So you're thinking, okay,
maybe three games, maybe four. It's been ten, folks, And
I don't think the hamstring is that serious. I think
they're being overly cautious, which I get, But Durant's been
injury prone. Durant's played twenty games since June of twenty nineteen,
(38:02):
all right, almost two years. He's played twenty games. So
what's to say when he comes back? If this thing
I don't think it is, the doctors saying it's not.
But if it's related to the achilles and he's overcompensating,
what's to stop it? From being something else. So Kevin
Durant's health. As good as the Nets are, I don't
see them winning at all without KD or even the East,
(38:23):
to be honest, without KD. Number one another health issue
Anthony Davis is anytime you hear the Achilles, even if
it's not torn or anything, it scares you and his achilles,
you know, that's a situation like Durant where they said,
you know, he's been out longer than he was expected
to be out. The Lakers cannot win it without Anthony Davis. Period.
(38:47):
Without Anthony Davis being at his best, all right, they
probably they won't even get out of the West without
Anthony Davis being a baller. Certainly, if he's not healthy,
they're not getting out of the West. So that is
a huge storyline for the Lakers and for the entire
NBA over the second half. Lots to watch this second
(39:08):
half of the season, so don't miss it. With the
NBA action, it's fantastic. We are too, the Eye couple
