so that is something you don't want to miss. And

(02:12):
want to miss that. I mean, just just a tremendous show.
I am excited and I'm excited for you, so make
sure you keep it locked here. Let me bring in
my partner, Rod Parker. How you doing today, man, I'm
doing just great. How are you, mister Chris Brussa, I'm great.
I'm really excited about this show today and no doubt
said it's gonna be a great one. This is one
of those days where you pull the radio a little
(02:34):
closer to you today. You know what I'm saying. It's
that good, right, you want to like make contact with
it really getting a little awkward, So just stop talking
about leave it to me and make something awkward? Right?
Is that what it is? But said it in a
soft voice too. I don't know where you were going.
I'm just saying, you know, like you're just saying, you
(02:55):
just pull the radio clothes you want to. You just
want to take it all in, but so much to do,
so little time. Yes, and it's a TV theme song Thursday. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
So you got some you got some remixes or we
got one. Got a little bit of remixes. I got
some of the old heat. We'll have some fun, say,
I told, yeah, really you all this new stuff. I
didn't even know you've done these new themes. I didn't
(03:17):
even know they were themes I got. I got one.
I got one big request that Chris and I can
both sing too, Golden Girls. No, we got one. I'm
not saying no, I want you to sing this. You
know this one sing but this one is this one
is a good singing. Uh TV thing? No, I'm gonna
I want to save it. I'm gonna tell it to Alex. Yes,
(03:39):
I don't want to say. But anyway, speaking of Alex
and the time for we'll introduced the Odd Couple crew,
because you know what, Chrissy wouldn't be able to do
this fine radio program without them, so let's woke them in.
Of course, Rob g our producer, Alex the engineer, Our
anchor is Deb Carson, will keep us updated throughout the show,
and Daniel are intern today. They're all on the other
(04:02):
side of the glass. Chris Busaw, let's kick some mask
on this TV theme song Thursday on the Odd Couple.
All right, sounds good. And speaking of kicking some bottom,
can I say that the Los Angeles Lakers did that
last night? No, but they gotta win. They gotta win.
They got a much needed against the horrible Dallas Maverick. Look,
(04:23):
I'll tell you this, Rob, and I think you would
agree with this. I covered the NBA for almost twenty
five years, and one thing I learned Rob is that
a win is a win is a win. No, I'm
not buying that it's true, especially the Western Conference where
against a bad team like that, especially in the Western Conference,
(04:46):
where the difference between being the fourth seed home court
advantage and the ninth seed out of the playoffs altogether
could be two or three games. Every win matters. I
know they didn't look good, No, they didn't close. Whether
their defense was a seesaw and it was atrocious at times,
they tried to show it down. It is a win
(05:09):
is a win. You know what my takeaway was from that?
What it was it wasn't that a win as a
win as a win is that Lebron James can't close anymore.
And I'm telling you, Chris Well, it was less than
a year ago he was closing out teams in the
Eastern Conference left and right. What are you talking about
when he was making about Indiana was shot, but the
score tied? Is that what you're telling closing the score tied?
(05:32):
There's no there's no pressure, no shot, there is pressure.
There isn't because if you if he missed either one
of them, they were going to overtime. The real pressure pressure. No,
if I know I'm gonna go to I'm gonna go
to overtime whether I hit the shot or not, it
totally changes my mindset. I'm not afraid to take that shot.
Now if your dad he hasn't made enough shots when
(05:54):
that wasn't the case that you know, because I don't remember.
I don't remember. Most of the time he's passing the
ball to to somebody else because he doesn't even want
to take a free throw. And we saw him last
night first shot right off the front of how about
he just went off the front of He means, not
a great free throw shooting. But anyway, how about he
just missed. But he missed in the other game. The
big game is that game when when Kobe and when
(06:18):
Michael Jordan missed free throws? Was it choking or was
it miss It's not nearly as much and as prevalent
as when Lebron. I'm just telling you several times right
here right now. What I my takeaway is Lebron James
is no longer the best player on the planet. People
are giving him that and saying it out of respect
and out of uh you know, like, uh, what's the
(06:39):
other term when when when you had it, uh, just
coming out of last year, everybody felt virtually everybody felt
he was the best player in the world. Right but
but but shoot, so you after what eight games you're
saying he's no longer the best player. No, I would
take Kevin Durant any any day over over any day
meaning years ago. No, I'm talking about right now this season.
(06:59):
I would take Kevin Durand is playing better. N We're
talking about what's been played so far this year. Look,
there's no doubt. Okay, that's first games of the year.
Lebron James has not played like the best player in
the league. No, if samswer butts about it, I could
go to Kevin Durant, I could go to certainly to
Steph Curry. I could go to Jannis and Dadda Kombo,
(07:22):
Anthony David like. There are a lot of guys that
are off to a better start than Lebron James. But
am I willing to take the torch from him after
eight games, of which he's playing with an entirely new team, though,
I can I give you. That's all I'm saying, eight
games here, you go give it a few months. Lebron
came here to change the Lakers. They were losing without
(07:44):
Lebron James and won thirty five games a year ago
so far. Chris Boussard in this NBA to twenty nineteen
twenty eighteen twenty nineteen season. The Lakers have been the
fourth wordst fourth quarter team in the NBA this season
minus three point four points. Last year it was seventeen
(08:05):
minus zero point four. Uh, the King just hasn't been
a closer at all. They've actually gotten worse this year.
And don't tell me, like Luke Walton with this nonsense. Well,
we know le closes. We want to do We don't
know LeBrock. No, we don't know fifteen years of close.
(08:25):
He didn't close when they won that championship and came
back from three one Kyrie, Kyrie hit a Kyrie who
got the block to set the shot out. A block,
really a block, one of the greatest, none of the
most spectacular defensive plays in NBA history. You think a
(08:45):
block is easy? A chase down block. He invented the
chase No, no, no no. The best chase down block was
by Tayshaun Prince against Reggie Miller. Oh really, in the
Eastern Conference. That was better than that block. Yes, it
wasn't it. It's not better because the ultimate stage, but
it wasn't. A for the Detroit homerism. You don't live
(09:06):
in Detroit anymore. I'm not a doing this, so sporty
cuts your barber shopping downtown Detroit. We'll get get customers.
I know you, Rob, Are you not look at you laughing?
You know I'm right. I'm telling there's no way that block,
that block, that was a tremendous block. Way that was
(09:27):
better than Lebron James's bottom in the NBA Finals. You
want to talk about pressure. If if Iguadolla makes that shot,
they may win the series, but the finals the champions.
But if if Kyrie doesn't make that shot, they don't win.
I'm gonna trust Lebron away from k was a huge
shot and tremendous here it is. The bottom line is
(09:49):
that the Lakers are actually worse in the fourth quarter
then they were without Lebron. That's a problem, Chris. That's
not why he came here. He supposedly came here to
earn this thing around and start to win championships. We
haven't seen it. It's a game, doesn't matter games. You
got a whole season of stats that you compare in
(10:11):
eight games too. I'm talking about the difference. Is Lebron James,
this is your what sixteen? This is your sixteen? Yes,
Father Time is undefeated. And it happens to everybody who
but he hasn't had its starting to happen. I see it.
Lebron James ain't that guy. I thought for sure last
night he was gonna choke down both free throws. Well
(10:33):
he didn't, so he got lucky. How he didn't get
shot that thing with confidence? It went in smoothly after
missing the first one, after choking on the first one.
And I heard the whole crowd at Staple Center. I
was watching the game. They're like, oh we heard. They
were like this, dude, Oh my god, you hear Lebron's heartbeating.
(10:55):
Because Lebron James is not a closer. Mariano l to
the Indiana Pacers. Oh please, Kevin Durand don't match. That's
in the Chicago don't know. Seems he's closed out. Kevin
Durant closed out the Knicks by outscoring them in the
fourth quarter. That's a closed Knicks. The Knicks what That
(11:17):
game was tied going into the four and the Knicks
are better than the matter. Honestly, I think I could
play the Knicks and drop seven points. I'm saying that's
how bad they are. Chris. I could get seven points
against them. What was in that Jerry sub you were eating?
Because I don't know what you're talking to me. Don't
don't bring up here, Kevin Durant call, Are you hallucinating
(11:39):
because you're eating meat now or something that you bring?
You better get some better examples the Knicks Alex help
him when he eats me, he just starts to hallucinate.
He doesn't know where he is. He thinks he's a
basketball player who could score seven points in the NBA
seven seven, ninety nine or five. If you've watched eight seven, seven,
(12:02):
nine nine, six sixty three sixty nine, give us a
call if you want to weigh in on this foolish
talk that Rod Parker has brought up, that Lebron James
father time has caught up to him. He's not the
best player in the world. Now. Look, I think Rob,
I'm fully willing to say that the verdict could be
(12:22):
out this year because he's not off to a great start.
He's not off to a start this worthy of Lebron James.
But I saw this in twenty fourteen when he first
went to the Cavaliers. He was not playing like the
Lebron James we'd all come to knowing love. But he
got it together and for the next four years was
the best player on the play. He's not saying I'm
(12:42):
gonna be a little bit patient eight games. I can't
make that type of distinction after eight games. But the
differences he's now sixteen years in. He's an older guy.
This is what happens. It's never gradual, Chris, it's just long.
Have you've been saying this about Tom Brady and as
it happened? Yet? No, he was MVP last year. You've
(13:04):
been seeing for five years Tom Brady. Tom Brady won
the MVP by default. Have you watched him recently? Yeah?
He is playing their record, No at there is all
about Wins. All he does, Tom and you you in
love with Carson Wins. How's he doing. He's doing Grady's
(13:26):
playing better than him. No, he's not as he winch
in a lifetime. He's doing great. Cars. Don't give me
his little nickname. That's not gonna cut it, buddy. He's
not bringing them to wear his backup brought him last year.
Nick Foles, you know him right there. You go watch
and see the second half of the season with Carson
Wentz and the Eagles. Watch just watch. Is Lebron James
still the best player in the world? Will with you next?
(13:49):

(14:11):
on the iHeartRadio app by searching f s R. All Right, man,
just give me that Country Cross No New Yorkers where
I'd rather stay? Get allergic smelling? Hey, I just a darling.
(14:32):
I love you, but give me pod Avenue. I get
allergic here and you sing the chors, the stores, fresh Air,
Time Square, you all, my wife, Goodbye city Life, Green Acres?
We are there? Yeah? Who sang that? Eddie Albert and
(14:58):
John Jakabo. Let's keep it down an even good board.
Let's keep it that way, all right, It's a TV
theme song. I did like Green Acres. I didn't like
Green Acres, apparently not as much as you love that.
It was a good show. It was a good show.
Google of Millennium, You have no idea what that was.
It's the Eye couple of Chris Bruss. Daniel was like,
(15:19):
what was what was that? Yeah, he never heard it
was a good show. Though it was a good show,
all right. Car shopping, Rob, I just bought a car,
and I'm telling you it can be confusing terms like dealer,
price list, price invoice. But True Car gives you what
you really need to know when you're shopping for a car.
What did other people pay for the car that I want?
That way, you know what's a good price and what's
(15:41):
a bad price. Trust me, when you're ready to buy
a new or even a used car, even a used car,
visit True Car to enjoy more confident car buying experience.
And Rob Parker, I can't believe that after eight games,
after you saw how well Lebron James played in the
NBA Finals last year, even though they lost, he played well,
(16:07):
now you're saying he's not the best player in the world.
Not again. I put it out there on social media Instagram, Twitter.
Is he still I've said, if he keeps this up,
and if other players keep playing as well as they are,
then we can say months from now he's no longer
the best player in the world. But eight games I
saw exhibit I saw exhibit A last night. They almost
(16:29):
choked that down on Lebron with what he do. He
had a couple of terrible He had a couple of
terrible shots, just awful where he's just dribble, dribble, dribble
until the shot he was totally hogging the basketball, totally
hogging the ball, and then dribble so long he gets
to put up a force terrible shot at the buzzer
who and then he choked the game winning free He
(16:51):
choked on the first free throw and then like the
other one just kind of wiggled in. And what was
the name of the guy that made the game win?
I can't remember. Some guys, whatever I'm telling you poo
pulled all you one act like turn your head. This
is like the Wizard of Oz. Pay no attention to
that man at the free throw line, because that's what
you're that's what you're trying to tell me. This is
(17:11):
from the man who's been writing off Tom Brady for
the last five year. Have you seen his stats this year?
Lebron's no Tom Brady? Yeah, I is it five and two? Rob.
I want you and trust me, they will be representing.
Give me Tom Brady's stats, they're not good to decline
is started. Let's see what some of the callers think, man,
(17:32):
because this this is this is some foolish eight seven
seven ninety nine on five. Let's start off with Mike
in Los Angeles. Mike, you're you're here in the city
that Lebron's in. Now, what do you think? Yeah, I
called a couple of weeks ago, and I told you
guys that Lebron doesn't play consistently through an entire game.
And I always say that he usually has now more
(17:53):
more points in the first half than the second half.
And then riot as I said that Lebron went eighteen
in the first half in the second half, it's and
I think that's why, like people are starting to see
that he's slowing down and just doesn't have it. But Chris,
you also know that Kobe makes his free throws, and
you can point out singular incidents, but remember, right around
the same time, at the same age of Lebron did it.
(18:15):
Kobe went up to go to the playoffs when he
tours Achilles um, you walked up, made two free throws
and then walked off. What nobody, Nobody would argue that
Kobe's a better free throw shooter than No. No, it's
just it's he has missed clutch free throws like Lebron did.
But I wouldn't argue that Lebron's a better free throw shoot,
(18:36):
or at least admit that. No, Kobe's a better free
throw shoot, no question. I would rather have Kobe at
the line than Lebron in any situation because he's just
a much better foul shoot. I'd rather have stop, Hey,
Daryl and Philly Oh, Fox Sports Radio, what's up, Daryl? Hey?
What's up? Man? Hey? First, I want to wish my
(18:57):
friend brother had he deleted that turned fifty Marsha Chris
eft belated shake that man. Man, I'm gonna I'm gonna
try to do the impossible and convert a habitual Lebron
hater who Chris? If I say, yeah, no, no, Nora,
I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't do that. But I
don't understand while you Lebron like this, he's in No
(19:20):
one has ever taken two teams that he took with
nobody Championship stop with that. Nobody stopped stop, I mean
twice to stop. He had Kyrier, Come on, man, stop
but you gotta nobody. Come on, man, that's ridiculouast year
last year. Last year, you're right, he took I mean
(19:41):
he took a bunch of guys that couldn't even win
the game in the first step. No, but what about
the other ones. The only time he's gone is when
he's had the team up, the only time chance to
win he went. When he went, I said, when he
teams up, and the only time he has a chance
to win. Carol's got a point. Oh seven. That was
an atrocious group. They made the made it to the finals.
I love the way it's okay to make it to
(20:03):
the finals, and then when they get there, they go, whoa,
I expect him to win. He won't have no one.
How did he get to the finals because he's that good? Well,
but not good enough to win. Oh, they weren't good
enough to beat. They had three Hall of Fames, just
like the Michigan Fab five. I gets so tired of that.
Oh they win as freshman. They went to Fab five.
They went to the championship, but then they lost, and
then they lost the sophomores. Well they're only freshman. Oh
(20:26):
they're only sophomores. What does that mean once you get
to the championship game, Rob hold on, stop, Look, it's
about winning. Nobody would dispute that it's about winning the
championing excuse, let's not act like getting to the championship
winning your conference is not in the conference? Look up
the world. You want to act like a team getting
to the super Bowl team getting to the finals is
(20:48):
a is a joke. Come look, look up the world.
Would rather get to the finals and lose than go
out in the first round and not make the players. Look,
get the world upset? Do you tell me go back
and look in history. I didn't know no way that
Joe Namas was supposed to beat the Baltimore Coats back
in nineteen Look at the team? Was there? Joe Naman didn't. Okay,
(21:09):
was there anyway in twenty sixteen that the Cleveland Cavaliers
were supposed to come down from a three one deficit
and beat a seventy three win Golden State wore Golden States? Oh,
that was a choke job. How about Lebron took it from? No,
he did not. That was a choke job. Lebron took
it from I can't wait till Greg Jenny's gets in
(21:31):
here from Calamazoo and put you in your place. Let's
go to Mark in Indiana. Mark, welcome to the eye couple.
What's buzzing? Cousins was up? It was happening. Man, Hey,
I've gotta address this NBA epidemic of hand foot and
Lebron disease. Man Cleveland Cavaliers with the fassault in the
NBA Finals game, year two, eighteens, no anomaly. He is
(22:01):
what his record says he is. And I'll tell you something.
There's no eighteen to one run coming against teams under
five hundred to save him and the Laker excuse boys
this year, no doubt about it. Mark, he is literally
in disgrund little Pacers. No he's not. I'm sorry, Man,
got your boys. This isn't groundhog Day. It's lefraud year
sixteen with the same lame excuses. His team, Lebron is
(22:24):
all blamed, no fame, no doubt about it. What a
great called book them, Mark, right, that is all they
used to say. All right, Look, I'm Rock Might. I'm
tired of putting Ryan Parker in his place, so I'm
gonna call in some backup. Super Bowl Champion Greg Jennings
is about to join us in the studio next. But
first let's get the dab Carson, Hey, Dabs, Hey, gents,
(22:47):
you're excited about the Thursday night game between two teams
with a collective two and thirteen records. Wait a minute,
I'll tell you right now, he go, And what could
have been dab if wasn't if Garoppolo wasn't hurt, if
Mac was a Raider? Hey, you know, it could have
been exciting. But Raiders and forty nine Ers kick off
at eight twenty Eastern tonight. Oakland's one win was against
(23:09):
the Browns in Week four. San Francisco beat the Lions
Week two. Niners have lost six in a row and
just a heads up, but Nick Mullins is going to
get his first career start at QB tonight against the Raiders.
It's his first start. CJ. Bethord will be available as
the backup quarterback to spite an injured wrist. A couple
of updates as far as injuries goes. Saints running back
Alvin kamaramis practice today because of an illness. A rib
(23:32):
injury kept Stefon Diggs out of practice today for the Vikings.
NBA Pelicans forward Anthony Davis doubtful to face the Blazers
tonight because of his sore elbow. That game tips off
ten thirty Eastern from Portland. J R. Smith said publicly
he wants to be traded away from the Calves and
Commissioner Adam Silver. According to the Athletics says that Smith
won't likely be fined for publicly stating he wants to
(23:54):
be traded. Silver did say Smith and the Calves GM
Kobe Altman are working on the matter. Hey, great news.
There's a quick way you could save money. Switched to Geico.
Go to Geico dot com and in fifteen minutes you
could say fifteen percent or more on your car insurance.
Had one early NHL game today, Winnipeg Jets beat the
Panthers four two in Helsinki, Finland. Do have some NBA
(24:14):
action underway right now if you're interested. Hornets out to
a nineteen fourteen lead over the Thunder three to go
in the first one and a half to go first
quarter in Cleveland. Those aforesaid mentioned Cavaliers twenty four thirteen.
On top of the Nuggets, Clippers are at Philadelphia Sixers
right now with an early twenty three eighteen lead two
to go in that first period. Guys, thanks so much, Carson.
(24:36):
We appreciate that as always, and we are on the
We're coming to you live from the Geico Fox Sports
Radio studios. It's easy to say fifteen percent or more
on your car insurance with Geico. Go to Geico dot
com or call eight hundred nine four seven Auto. The
only hard part is figuring out which way is easier.
And as we promise, we have Super Bowl champion Wow
(25:00):
Jennings in studio and it's great to have him in here.
He's still in great shape. You see him all how
old are you? You say he's still in great shape.
You act like he's fifty. He retired NFL. I definitely
(25:20):
physically could still be playing. You just retired of the nonsense? Uh?
Just mentally. I didn't want to do it anymore. What
would you grow beyond you? Kind of you? You get
over all the stuff and you just want what's real.
And when you get to the point where there you
recognize it, there is no loyalty. And obviously you recognize
(25:43):
that early, but you're you're I'm no longer with the
franchise that drafted me. So now it's like a string
along type deal. Where do you fit what we're trying
to do? Can you offer us your talent but also
your rain? And it was like, I don't. I don't
feel like getting the rug pulled out from underneath me
(26:05):
every single season or every other two or three years.
That I'm done with that. So it was some of
the business of believe it. Yeah, absolutely, it's not the game.
It's because it's like anything I tell people this is
all the time people say, oh, that's politics, or you know,
they always say, like anything dealing with people is politics.
Even church. You know that, Chris. You have people in
(26:28):
there all supposed to be here for the same reason. Oh,
how come she got this job? How come she's been
how come they got this? Because it's politics, people, This
is how people operate. I don't care what job you're doing. Greed,
very very true, very true. Greg. You, of course played
with Aaron Rodgers. And the big game this weekend is
Rogers versus Brady, Packers versus h New England Patriots, and
(26:53):
all the talk has been about who's better or Tom Brady?
Where do you you? Where do you fall in on
this discussion. Let's let me say this first before he
answers Greg Jennings is a uh a forward, honest thinker.
He's not some homer. He's a guy who thinks it
(27:13):
out really well and gives delivers honest opinion. I just
respect him so much. Okay, great, Okay, I do. So
this is this is a topic that irritates me to
the core, honestly. But I know, I know. But this
is why it's It's like the Jordan does it really does,
(27:37):
because what if we're comparing championships in super Bowls, that's
there's no question. If if that's what the standard is,
then there's no question. It's Jordan, clear cut, no debate,
no conversation, and it's Brady clear cut, no, no debate,
no conversation. But you know it's more. But but it
(28:00):
is more. But even like with Jordan, everybody all when
I say Jordan's the goat, everybody says, well, just because
he wons six times. No, that's not the only reason.
Championships are just part of it. He did everything look
at But I could make the same argument for Brady,
like Brady Brady has not had. You are a receiver.
(28:22):
You're a really good receiver, so you can weigh in
on this. I don't think Brady's had great wide receivers
and when he did Randy Moss, he blew the you know,
the record book out of the water. They lost, And
I get that, but I'm just saying fifty fifty touchdown.
I'm not saying he hasn't had good No, I'm gonna
I'm gonna post this, including myself, what wide receiver that
(28:45):
has Aaron Rodgers played with that's in the Hall of Fame? None? Okay, none,
I'll give you that. None, none, zero. Like this the
same as I said, play with period, like in his
entire career, he's never he's never played with one. Correct,
not saying none of the guys were good, including myself. Right,
(29:07):
this is my issue if if we're going off of
what you can do for me and I'm starting eighteen,
it is not even close. It's just not mentally. Now
that's a completely different that's right, but it's not enough.
(29:28):
It's not enough of an edge to Tom Brady in
the mental part compartment to where I can say, oh man, yeah,
absolutely give me Brady. If I'm going tangibles, skill set,
what they possess, and I think Tom Brady agree with
votes from Tom Brady where he agrees. And if you
(29:48):
addition to the thing, because we talk about this all
the time, here you are you play with Aaron Rodgers,
Shannon Sharp didn't play with them, won three super Bowls,
two with one a great quarterback, and John he says
he's never seen anybody throw the football the way that
Aaron Rodgers and his skill set. I don't know what
else you need you don't need. But but so are
(30:10):
you saying Rodgers is the goat? I'm not. That's a
completely different conversation about them. That's all we care about
is the no, no, no, we're not dividing it into
second ers. Is the grand barterback I've ever seen? Yes,
when you talk about the goat, then yes, you have
to write. You have to embody everything right, everything is
(30:32):
underneath that umbrella. And Aaron Rodgers obviously hasn't accomplished enough.
He just hasn't. He doesn't. He doesn't have the accolades,
he doesn't have the Super Bowls, he doesn't have the
Super Bowl appearances. Right, just leave it at that. But
when when I look at all of this, like like
today debating, is Bill Belichick the difference, I say yes, yeah,
(30:54):
because he cheats. It's not even that. Rob Belichick's great.
I think he's the best coach. Can't be the best
coach other because you got busted with Chie, it can
still kind of gets it. So let me pose this
question to you if Belichick, if Aaron Rodgers had Belichick
(31:14):
and Tom Brady had Mike McCarthy, no I look different.
There's a quote that came out where Tom Brady apparently
told another coach in the NFL ESPN dot Com. He said,
Brady said, Aaron Rodgers is so much more talented than me.
If he was here in New England, he throw up
(31:36):
a seven thousand yards. Yeah, so I get that. But
the one thing I want to bring, because I'm an
Aaron Rodgers fan, I love Aaron Rodgers, and I agree
he's the best I've ever seen, just skill, right. The
one question I want to throw at you, Greg, I
think when it comes to the intangibles treatment of teammates leadership.
(31:57):
I'm not saying Aaron Rodgers isn't a leader, but Brady
I think has him cooked in the intangibles you play
when him, Am I wrong or I would not disagree
with that. That's and I've been in the locker room
with Aaron and I have a I had an amazing
relationship with Aaron until I spoke truth, and then I
(32:19):
would love to be able to sit down with Aaron
and still continue that relationship. But it's truth. Truth hurts, right,
Truth hurts. And I'm not saying he's a bad teammate,
but from the things that I hear about Tom Brady
and knowing Tom Brady myself, like he's just a good dude,
(32:42):
Like he just that's just facts. Quarterback, a winning Super
Bowl winning quarterback. That's a huge part of the equation.
I would be a good dude too if if the
luck always rolled for my favorite if every time I
played a Super Bowl something would happen and it work,
(33:02):
like like John Kingsley kicking the ball out of balance
for the Panthers. Okay, so I could just go on
and on and on about those games, about the Atlanta
Falcons leading twenty eight to three, about the Atlanta Falcons
having the ball first and ten at the twenty two Yeah,
field goal, right by a comeback. But if you kick
the field goal, you're up by eleven. Tom Brady can't
beat you. You have the best running back in the
(33:24):
league at the time, Marshawn Lynch, Right, you're at the
one and that Greg, if you won that team, you
would have Don't tell me you wouldn't have gone crazy?
Like what are we doing? Really? I understand, Look, I
understand all of that, and but for me, I'm not
going to sell Tom Brady short. I'm not gonna undermine
what he's been able to do. Now if I'm not
(33:47):
at all just gonna just hand the trophy to Aaron
Rodgers say yes, you would be the best. I'm not
saying that because Tom Brady, the way he approaches his work,
the way he approaches the game, the way he approaches everything,
there's greatness in him. But but he has ten years
without a super Bowl. People forget that, you remember that,
(34:09):
but make nine without even getting there. No, but I'm
trying to say, like when you look at Brady's career
and they talk about this stretch, there was ten years
they didn't win a super Bowl and then at and
beat him other eight He's always Sanchez beat him in Fox.
He's always been relevant, He's always been there, and that
(34:33):
it's like that with Lebron. All Right, guys, we'll continue
this conversation more NFL talk with Greg Jenny's coming up next.

It's The Eye Couple of Chris Brusar and Rob Parker.
This TV theme song Tuesday, Thursday, Thursday. I'm losing track
(35:39):
of days on the playground where I spend most of
all days, all sitting out, basing relaxtion on cool them,
shooting smbe ball outside in the school, winning a couple
of guys they rapped the voice down to make a
duple in my neighborhood. Yeah, and my mom got scared. Yeah,
that is the one Greg Jenny's that's the TV thing
(36:02):
Thursday Spirit. I like that. I like that, as of
course the fresh Prince of ben't like it. Yeah, and
I nearly as well as Greg rapped Will Smith. All right, Greg,
let's get to a few more NFL topics. Hugh Jackson
just obviously just fired by the Cleveland Browns, just fired
(36:22):
bombs to the whole Cleveland organizations. Right. He sat down
with Mary Kay Cabot, beat writer yes for Cleveland dot
Com and among he said plenty. One of the things
he said is, I know I would have turned our
offense around, meaning once he if he had taken over
play calling, he would have turned it around. I'm gonna
(36:43):
give you another quote because he threw the front office
under the bus. He said. We passed on three franchise
qbs the first two years in Wentz Carson Wentz, Deshaun Watson,
and Patrick Mahone. Wow. We played with a QB room
with zero wins in the league. We played with street
(37:05):
free agents and practice squad players and wide receivers. Yet
our offense was the same or better than what we
were doing this year. There is no way that should happen.
You you, I don't know how well you know Hugh,
if you know him at all, but obviously you know
of him having been in the league when he's been
(37:26):
a coaching stuff. What do you make of what Hugh's saying?
Does he have a point or is he just is
it sour grapes. I'm sure he has a point. And
I've been there when you've been outed and you feel
some type of what you're in your feelings, like I
get it exactly like he's in his feelings right now
(37:49):
he feels like I do believe, however, he would have
turned them around. I think I think that the league
had taken over the play caller. I do think that
he would have helped. He's a great play caller. He's
a great play caller. And I think that with the
way they were performing, it wasn't as if they weren't
playing hard for him. It wasn't as if he had
(38:10):
lost the locker room. I think also that when you
it's hard for me to fathom like letting a guy
go that you that has control over the guys he
hasn't lost a team, and you've won, which is something
you hadn't done. And it's like they have to learn
(38:31):
how to win. So that's a season of itself. But
but Greg, isn't it a situation? Un Let's just be honest.
We know how this league operates. Once you hire a
new general manager and he's not you guy, You're not
his guy. We saw it happen in Detroit, right, Jim
carwe one took the line to the playoffs two out
of three years, and they sent him packing because, Uh,
(38:55):
the general manager what's his name just forgot his name.
I can't think of what he wanted his own He
wanted a guy from the Patriots, he who came from
the Patriots um, and no matter what he did, he
was gonna go get his own guy. And that's what
happened in Cleveland. They set him up to fail. They
never really wanted to keep him if you don't get fired,
but they didn't have to. But I'm just saying if
(39:16):
they did, look, I agree with you for the most
they set him up. If they did keep him, I
think ownership legitimately liked you. I think so too, And
they said, look, we're gonna give him because you don't
keep him right when you've made that much change, that turnover,
and when John Dorsey comes in, he has every right
to say, look, I'm gonna go get my own guy. Yep.
(39:36):
But I feel like they thought, okay, let's give Hugh
one more opportunity or expectations. The expectations were unrealistic, like
what he would have had to do to keep his
job was probably unrealistic. But they did give him. They
never wanted him. I don't think it was unrealistic. I
think that they wanted Hard Knocks. Let's just last. It
(40:00):
didn't help, it does It did not help at all.
It did not help him whatsoever. It really exposed him
and and really shine a light on them being making
them right almost or or warranting this this release and
this firing of Hugh Jackson, because well, I mean, he
was all about himself. He always was ego. It was like, man,
(40:25):
now you get up on the podium and now it's
like I'm the head coach, right, I'm gonna keep saying now, man,
yes you know, yes, he hadn't been on Hard Knocks
and we hadn't seen it week after week or episode
after the episode. We wouldn't have known when he said
that at the podium, nobody would have associated with this
(40:45):
dude's tripping. It would have just said, okay, that's what
he said that you never want hard knocks? No, what
do players think about that? Um? A lot of a
lot of players like it. You get a lot of
players like it because you get that how much money
did they give you? I'm not sure this is gonna
be a stipend once. I'm not sure. But a lot
of players don't like it because anytime you put a
(41:06):
camera in someone's face, you're gonna get a different project,
and they feel and players feel like, man, now I
gotta deal with coach being different because the cameras in
the space on the show and all that. Yeah. Yeah,
So all right, So we're gonna get back with you
Greg at the top of the basketball and we're gett
into some John Gruden. He's made some news too going
into the game to night, so we'll talk about all that.
(41:27):
It's the eye couple. Chris Brussar, Rod Parker, Greg Jenny's
Fox Sports Radio. Yes, indeed, it is the Eye Couple.
I'm Chris Brussar next to my main man, Rob Parker.

Greg Jenny's. He's dropping off sorts knowledge on the NFL.
We're gonna continue to get into that. We're also gonna
get into some basketball talk with Greg. He's a huge
(42:08):
NBA fan and from what he tells me, he was
a great high school basketball player too, All State All
State point guard. Is that I was humble, don't be humble.
He could throw. He could throw a baseball too. I
was then when he threw out the first pitch at
the America Park. Remember that, you see that I was there.
I see that. I don't remember I was there. I've
done a couple of those. Man that strikes. Did you
(42:30):
play baseball? And absolutely I don't mess with the baseball?
Really didn't you know? I'm an athlete though, all right,
honestly true, I'm scared of a baseball. No. I did
you work on before you threw out the first pitch?
Did you work on it? Uh? For that one I did.
That was my first, like America and and you you
(42:50):
start watching all these videos and everybody throw in the dirt,
and you like, man, I can't. For whatever reason. You
see the one athlete you don't want to go out there.
He said, you were like, dude, have you ever touched
the ball? Like, oh my god? He said, remember was
there a mayor? He was another one know who was
the track star called saying the national anthem destroyed it?
(43:15):
But he couldn't throw a ball. I'm wondering you any
man who can't throw a ball. I just I'm not
saying I was some great baseball player, but you don't
how to throw a ball. It's not that hard to
throw a baseball sixty feet and now. But I want
to ask you, is it like when you get on
the mound, like you can't all nerves? Nerves people that
(43:41):
far at all. It's like pitch and catch, but your nerves,
that's what. And for me, fortunately, my my wheelhouse was
playing in front of seventy thousand, so you are I wasn't.
I didn't care about that. I just my biggest issue was, man,
let's throw a strike. Many so did you you threw?
(44:03):
Do you remember this? I always say this after nine
eleven and then it was the World Series and George
Bush stepped up on the mound do you remember that?
And throw a strike? And Yankee stated a strike? He
was a minor league played, he was a minor Yeah,
he was like, I think he played baseball. I knew
he owned the Texas Rangers, but he played baseball. But
I was like, I was impressed. But it's as a
(44:26):
as a former minor leaguer still at a fifty somebodiar
old man to just step up there, you know, in
a big moment, because this was after nine he I mean,
I don't want to take anything away from but he's
the present like he's used to and Rob, yeah, you're right,
but it was just that. Yeah, it makes you feel
different about a person when you see them do that.
Some of the guys, it's unbelievable after fifty were like,
(44:49):
you just wanted to dang the dude have any athletic
bones in his way? My issue is like, if you
know you can't throw, practice like, we don't accept it,
don't do it, don't accept it. All right, let's let's
get to some football. And then I really want to
get your thoughts because Rob and I have been debating
on some basketball stuff this week, and I want to
(45:11):
get you it's actually been a slaughter. That's not a debate,
but that's another story. Look, man, don't be so hard
on yourself. I haven't beating you up that bad, all right.
John Gruden, it's been a rough debut year with him
or back, you know, return to Oakland as the head coach,
and recently before their game tonight, he sat down for
an interview and he said, here's what he said. Let's
(45:33):
get the sound. I got a cell phone, just like
you and everybody else, and I get a lot of
phone calls from people that are dying to come and
play here. I'm just telling you, they're dying to play
for the Raiders and to have salary cap space and
to have a chance to talk to the people that
you really want to wear the silver and black, the
(45:53):
guys you really want to wear the silver and black
and represent this team. That's excited. I just threw up
in my mouth when he said that. Stop it. Let
me just said this. So you heard him, The guys
you really want So what he's implying is that all
pro you know, all NFL type players are texting him,
(46:15):
calling him saying, hey, I want to play for the Raiders.
I'm sorry, Grett, I just can't believe this. I think,
is this is laughable? Like he just this was comic view, Like,
are you kidding me? Right now? If that were the case,
you guys wouldn't be in this predicament exactly. Like, if
(46:35):
that were the case, you would be not only trading guys,
but acquiring guys because they all want to be already. Yeah,
you know what, It's just like it's the guy who's
like talking about you know, all these chicks want to
get with me whenever somebody has to come out and
like tell you that they're making and everybody wants to
be with them. You don't buy that. You don't have
(46:56):
to know that. It's like your boy. It's like it's
like your boy whose girlfriend always lived out of town. Yeah,
you can't never see exactly right, exactly always lived out
of town. But yeah, this is I mean, so going
for what are players around the league? What do you
think players are thinking when they hear John I think
(47:18):
he's really sticking his foot in his mouth, because when
you all all guys want, or anyone really wants to
be associated with, it's somebody who's gonna give them truth
whether we whether we like it or not. We really
do want you someone to tell us the truth. We
want something, something that's gonna be fair, authentic and real.
(47:39):
And when I listen to John Gruden, when I hear
him say, uh, guys like uh Khalil Mack, he didn't
want to be here, he didn't want to be here.
And then you say, now we want the guys, we
want our guys. We want guys who want to be here.
Are you saying, Amari Cooper didn't want to be here either,
or what are you saying? Because basically what you're saying,
(48:01):
to your point that you just made to the guys
in your locker room, we want guys that we want
to be here, our kind of guys that we want.
What are these guys? So nobody trusts you right now?
So everybody's going out there, they will not win, they
will not be successful. They're going to struggle. And everyone
who comes in is going to listen to everyone who
(48:21):
goes out because players talk, and he is he's making
it hard on himself to acquire guys don't get me wrong.
It's going to be something that guys entertained once they
get the Vegas. Money talks, especially once they get the Vegas,
specifically young guys. But eventually that ain't gonna cut it.
(48:43):
That's not gonna cut it. I think he exposed. I
think he's exposed himself. He really has people get caught
up when you can talk about a game on television.
Matt Millen was another guy who talked a great game
on television, got a GM job, you know, with the lines,
with no experience, and what happened terrible. He might be
the worst year manager ever in professional sports. Seriously, And
(49:06):
I think John Gruden talked itself into this big contract.
He all it takes is one guy who's who's like believing.
All it takes is one guy gives him one hundred
million dollar contract. That franchise doesn't even have money, like
like they're struggling financially, but they gave John Gruden this
whole big deal. And now, to me, nobody expected them
(49:27):
to be this bad. They're giving up almost thirty two
points a game. It's been bad because when you when
you lose players like Khalil Mack and you send off
in Amari Cooper and you you're doing all this now,
everybody is like in my next right, like, where do
I stand me as great as those two? Exactly? There
(49:48):
is no loyalty there is There is no I can
trust you right now. They're plot of mine. There is
none of that. So everybody's walking into that facility not
sure of their future there. All right, Well, look, I
know you love basketball, so we're gonna get to some
NBA talk with you. And you know what you're talking
about as well. Rob Parker and I were debating at
(50:08):
the top of the show. He is saying after eight games,
after seeing Lebron James for the first eight games of
this season, Lebron James is no longer the best player
to work Kevin Durant, I'm going off of what I've seen.
Father time has caught up to Lebron James. I tell
you what else has caught up after you get done,
and let me tell you. Did you see him? He's
(50:28):
so shaky at the end. He's not a closer. He's
like a rickety screen door. Mis are coming in, bugs
are coming in, butterflies are coming in. Everything. Lebron James
can't close anything. Bricking free throws. He tried to cough
that game up last night. He was lucky one snuck
in and then happened to win. I mean, if we're
(50:50):
gonna we're gonna pass, We're gonna pass. The blame to
just Lebron. They it was two other guys that stepped
up to the frea throw line did the same thing
before he did. But Lebron Kuzma brandon Ingram. Lebron came
here to change things. I understand that, and he hasn't
done it greg so far. I think what I've noticed,
what I've noticed, and this is miss may sound strange.
(51:12):
They play too fast. Those young boys get up and
down that court. They are running in out west. That's
what everybody does. It's not a half court game. And
every single night you gotta play like that. He does
not look the same. And Lebron's always played. His teams
have always been either middle of the pack or near
the bottoming. Yes. Yes, And when you look at him
(51:35):
and how he thrives. Is he a great transition player?
Yes he is. He's always been his entire career. But
when Lebron really can kill you, it's half court sets
in a slower tempoed game. That's not what they want
to do. That's not who they are. You when he
is when he has taken out of the game, them
them boy, them young boys be up and down that court,
(51:57):
running and gunning. Yea, and they look good. And he
gets in and it's like, how can I fit in?
I gotta run with him. I just I don't know
if this is the right situational fit for Lebron's game.
And I don't think after watching last night, like I
don't really think that they're trying to they want to
build around Lebron, but I don't think he is like
(52:20):
the center pillar. Okay, we need what Lebron needs. I
don't think that's the case. When you when you're allowing
guys to have their opportunity to close games, they want
they want everybody to get a shot. They want everybody
to be a viable option and get their shot, to
almost develop their confidence to where you don't always have
(52:41):
to defer to Lebron in the clutch. But what did
they get them for. I get that. I'm not saying
that I would never want to let somebody else get
a chance at it. But they've been games this year
Lebron could have sent a message to the Western Conference
early on with some wins like they never the Lakers
never be Portland. They've lost like sixteen in a roll
or something. That game was winnable. If Lebron would have won,
(53:03):
that went up to Portland. Hey, wait a minute, you
know what I mean, Like like the Lakers, Lebron should
us something that didn't happen. There were a couple other games.
I'm just looking at him and I saw it. Kevin
Durant did You could say poo pulled all you want
that it was the Knicks. He outscored the entire team
in the fourth quarter of a close game. Rob, when
you when you look at the East, when Lebron was
(53:24):
in the East, and you look at the West now
in the East, every time he stepped on the court,
his opposition, they may not have had a guy that
can just kill him like I'm a killer too, just
exactly now Toronto, every single time he steps on the
(53:46):
court against the team in the West, they got somebody
like it sounds like you agreeing with Rob. I'm far
so far. What I've said is this so far I've
said if he and I've put this out on social media.
If he continues to play like this and other guys
Yannis Anthony Davis, Durant Staff, if the Kauhi, if they
(54:10):
continue to play right, then eventually we're gonna have to
say he's no longer the best play in the world.
But I'm not ready to say that after eight games,
and I personally I don't. I don't see why that's
a problem. It's a problem. It's gonna happen soon. It's
gonna happen everybody. Everybody, He's he's You're the Lakers. You
don't want to right. You thought you were getting the
(54:30):
best player in the world for the next four years,
which you knew at some point during that four years
it was gonna happen. But see, if I'm a fan
Lakers fan, I don't want Lebron coming here at the
end for like a retirement tour. I'm gonna be mad
if I'm a Lakers fan and he fades like late
this season and that then it's just a decline from
(54:51):
that point on. I don't think. I just don't think
his his his passion and his competitive drive will allow
him to ever do that. I don't think he'll just
made to black when but his minutes, they're gonna have
to make sure that they reduced them minutes. I don't
know that he'll let that happen. He played thirty eight
last night. He's still I don't know what he's averaging,
(55:12):
but I bet you us around thirty seven minutes. That's
too many minutes and he'll be dead at the end
of the Sea's not gonna let them take him out.
But the Lakers should have known when Lebron requested what
he wanted for the pregame meal before every game. Here
you go, yeah, I know, here go get ready for
the wine, sodium free, bacon, decaf coffee of the chest
(55:34):
X ray before Yeah, I hope that. I hope you're
not trying out your stage material. Hey, you know I'm
gonna do a stand up. I'm gonna do five minutes.
How did you keep up with these? Hall is going
to walk me on the stage and introduce me. I'm
gonna do it. Lebron is averaging. Ron is averaging a
(55:54):
team high thirty six points. Yea, too many minutes. He's
not gonna let Luke take him out. So you know,
we'll see. I mean, like I said, I think the
verdict is maybe out this year or whether he's not,
he's still the best player, but so far he's not
off to the best starting to league. And and and
I don't, I don't. I don't have a problem whatsoever
with the start that they've had because this is not
(56:16):
some new thing every time he goes to a team.
This is what has totally different, totally different. But this
is different when he first went back to he's older,
with with kids and misfits. I'm telling you, if you
just look at it and this Western Conference, Greg, you
start out three and ten, you might not make the playoffs.
(56:38):
That's how tight the Western Conference is. You can't give
away games. I don't can't have a run Portland. I'm
just telling the last year a few years ago. They
started out horror. It's just not so. The Rockets are
almost they're done. What the Rockets. Yeah, but they have
a track record that these these guys don't have. That's
why I'm not buying. Thank you, Green have a Lebron
(57:00):
don't have enough. Not with those kids and cast offs,
you're really buying into that. That team that they put together,
I will they don't have any outside shooting. That team
has not. The Lakers on a good time. Say this right.
It is a little different because in Miami and Cleveland
had player All Stars and Dwayne Wade and can play better.
(57:21):
And you're in the East, so you did have some
come on, give me, I give you that. I give
you that. But I'm just I think divert. You know,
I'm not gonna make a judgment after eight games that Lebron.
I'm in the judgment business, That's what I do. I'm
you're in the premature judgment. Premature. You've been talking to
my wife. Wife. It's coming, it's coming, It's coming, and
(57:45):
there's nothing he can do about it coming. This it
is what it is. I mean when you father, time's
coming at some point, bottom line, you know, Chris, it
would be it would he not look different. He does.
But but here's the thing. In twenty fourteen, remember when
he first went back to Cleveland, he looked different. Then
(58:05):
he took that trip to Miami for a few weeks,
and he came back he was killing I'm just seeing
to Miami and all of a sudden things, but he
did look I ain't saying nothing about what happened in Miami,
but he took his couple of weeks off and came
back and he was ready to happen. I don't know.
Maybe he shine and uh he maybe he went with
(58:26):
Tom Brady. That had to TV twelve. You go out
to this witch doctor down there, or so you go
out to Miami and then's it's instant vitamin D right right, sunshine,
good times blaming on the game. Oh there you go,
Look at that. He going old school. Yeah, Michael Jacks
remember that? All right? Greg Man, always a pleasure. So
(58:47):
we are? Are you leaving? Because I got one more
thing to throw at you, NBA? Let me let me
throw this at you. Uh yesterday what we're talking about?
I contend now lift and you were a point. Are
my whole life? You know I've virtually my whole life.
I say Thomas the legend in Detroit was the best
(59:08):
small player of all time. Now I'm ready to say
Steph Curry is the best small player of all time?
Am I tripping? Craig? Look at him crazy? Look at
him crazy? Yeah, let me give you. Let me give
you this list. Let me before you answer, let me
give you this Steph Curry. There are there are eight
(59:31):
players in NBA history who have won at least two
MVP Awards and three NBA Championships. The list Bill Russell,
Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan's Tim Duncan.
Who's the other one I'm missing? Uh, Steph Curry. That's
(59:54):
that's the list. There's there's I'm sorry, Chris, I can't
give you that. Why I can't give you that because
Number one, it's two different eras And I feel like
the era that Isaiah Thomas did it in it just
it was so impressive. Yes, it was. It was just
it was so impressive. You can't look at the stars
(01:00:16):
that and and and there was don't we don't have
stars like that now that they're all on his team. Yeah,
James isn't on this team. Now. You tell if you tell,
if you tell me that Steph can take away a
couple of these guys. And then he played with role players,
which is what Isaiah did. They knew their role. Joe
(01:00:37):
Dumars Hall of Famer. I love Joe d That was
my favorite player on the team. But outside of that,
you had Dennis Rodman strictly rebound, he was active, could defend,
and Marca Gui he was scoring, he was a score
and Vinny could heat up as well. So, but they
had they had role players. These weren't like All Star guys.
(01:01:00):
Is that you just could count on leading the All
Star voting every single man. They none of them were
getting hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold
on before Staff, before kd went there. They had Klay
Thompson a low lottery pick and Draymond Green the second
round pick. All right, so they developed into what they did.
(01:01:22):
I'm not knocking with Staff, I'm not at all knocking that,
but it's still more talent to work with. All right,
all right, you agree with Rod Parker. Wrong, we got
we got more NFL conversation coming up and NBA conversation.
It's the eye couple of Fox Sports Radio. Where are you?
(01:01:44):
That was a Scooby was a great, great cartoon. That's
my favorite Saturday morning car. You know, Shaggy's voice was
Casey Cason, was it? Yes? Wow? So you had Daphney
and what was the other girl, the little the little
val Velma la Velma Thelma. That's right, all right, Scooby
(01:02:07):
dooby doo. Yes, it is the eye couple of Chris
Brussar and Rob Parker on this TV theme song Thursday.
That's why you hear these odds. Strange people love the
tunes coming through your airwaves. We are brought We are
brought to you by Discover Card because Discover Chard treats
you like you would treat you. Rob It was a
(01:02:31):
great night in the NBA. Last night wasn't yes, and
we needed one more free throw mess and it would
have been an excellent Oh did I say that? Hater? What?
I didn't eve here in the house? All Right, you
gotta watching that. You were like when he missed the
first I didn't really want him to miss didn't know
what I'm saying. But when he missed the first one,
(01:02:52):
didn't you go oh? I was like, Oh, I did
think he was gonna make the second one, did you?
I did? But you know, I knew there was a
good chance he might miss it because not a great
free throw shooter, especially down the stretch. He shoots like
forty or something like that last couple of years. But anyway,
Derek Rose, Derek Rose, former MVP, we know the story.
(01:03:15):
Injuries have just completely derailed his career. And I mean
he's been cut, he's been a role player, He's backed
up guys, that eight nine years ago couldn't carry his jockstrap.
And last night d Rose turned back the clock, scored
(01:03:35):
fifty points in a Minnesota Timberwolves victory and was actually
so over the Utah Jazz, who are a very good team,
and was so emotional after the game. He was crying,
and I understood it. I know issues with that because
it's one thing, Chris, I think that he still was
in the league. But you know what was even more
(01:03:57):
impressive is that deep down, I bet you he never
believed he could be that player again and score fifty
points in the game. Disagree though, see I because I've
talked to Derek and people around him over these last
several years, and now were they lying? I don't know,
but they have always told me every year Derek is back,
(01:04:20):
Derek is But they've been saying that. I know they've
been saying it. I've been like, but that's why I'm
saying that. But I think he believed it. But the
tears are you know, not did he have did I
have a good game or I made a game winning shot,
I put up a career high after I've been devastated
from injuries. You know what I mean? Where people of
discarding me. If it wasn't for he feels if it
(01:04:43):
wasn't for for thibodol at at, Minnesota might be in
the NBA because he was cut by Utah. Nobody wanted
a question and that Tims was like, Okay, this is
my guy. He was my guy and gave him a shot.
Just put him on the team right. And Minnesota has
told me since they picked him up last year that
he's playing well. Before he went to Cleveland that summer,
(01:05:06):
before he got hurt in training camp, they were saying
de Rose is playing his ball and y'all gonna be surprised.
Like a lot of a lot of people have said
he's not what he used to be when his MVP,
but that he still has He has returned the athleticism,
the bounce, and his jumper is better than ever. Because
(01:05:27):
what he has he hasn't gotten and I don't think
he will going forward. The opportunity last night was unique.
Jimmy Butler didn't play Tyas Jones didn't play he had.
He's almost a forgotten like a relic of a bygone
era where ball dominant point guard, the offense is built
(01:05:49):
around you doesn't really shoot the three very well, although
he hit four of seven last night, gonna drive and penetrate.
He's not an analytics guy, right, Like his analytic number
aren't impressive. In fact, one of the stories that came
out from last night is Derek Rose took a league
high six hundred and fifty three dribbles last night, rob
(01:06:11):
which is the no no nowadays. They didn't want you
to dribble the air out of the ball. Lay timeson
for contexts. When he scored fifty two last week, fifty
six dribbles, he took what fifty six dribbles? So Derek
Rose took six hundred and fifty three a league high.
But what we were talking about earlier, you and I
before the show is the great players, Like where does
(01:06:34):
Derek Rose kind of rank among the great players whose
careers were derailed by injury? Grant Hill was one of
the best players in the league. He wasn't quite Lebron,
but he was putting up twenty two points nine rebounds.
He was an assist beyond anyone. Don't forget in college
(01:06:58):
they won a couple of championships. He played off four
years a duke. He was a part of that Christian
later that they had an unbelievable team, nomenal player. Grant
Hill was supposed to be the next something. Yeah, no
doubt he was in that next Jordan kind of discussion.
A matter of fact. Billy McKinney, who was the general manager,
if you remember when they got Grant cried. He cried.
(01:07:20):
That's how ye like he was until he got hurt.
He was like, phenomenal. If you're GM, A dream came true.
I got Grant Hilly. Not only is he smart and articulated,
but he's a great player. This is the guy you
want to build your franchise around. The Pistons got him,
no question, and then he gets the ankle injury. Never
is the same. Penny Hardaway went to the finals with Shock.
(01:07:44):
He you know, had the commercials with Rock and Tyra
Banks and the sneakers, the phone posit nikes. I've got
three pairs of Yeah, they were they were great. He
had some great sneakers, like Penny was the man. Knee injury,
a couple of knee injuries, and never was the same.
Bernard King, I always couldn't. King destroyed his knee and
(01:08:05):
the comeback was unbelievable. He came back with Washington and
team teams. Grant Hill did too. May one. Um, if
if Bernard King had stayed healthy, he would have been
in New York playing with Patrick Ewing, and who knows
if history may have been different. But you know what,
I don't blame I'd never blame the Knicks there, not
(01:08:28):
only because but not that, but he wouldn't let the
Knick doctor see him, like like when he did, was
doing his thing and they didn't want to resign him.
If I don't blame him, because even when he came back,
he wasn't He ended up making an offstar team, but
he wasn't the same, right. But I'm just saying, like
like people said, how did Knicks let him go? But
he wouldn't let them team doctors take a look at him.
I couldn't. I couldn't sign a guy. I don't. I
(01:08:50):
don't blame them. I'm just saying if he had stayed
in New York and stayed healthy, he and Patrick Ewing,
they could have changed some things in the Eastern Conference.
And so I would say this, Derek Rose is the
only one of those guys robbed to win an MVP.
But I would tell you that Penny Hardaway and Grant Hill,
(01:09:12):
in my view, were better than Derrick Rose, and Derek
Rose even had more team success than Grant Hill. Those
Chicago teams were winning sixty games, they were, you know,
a contender in the Eastern Conference. Grant Hills teams in
Detroit never won a playoff series. That was one of
the Knox on him in seven years. But I think
Penny Hardaway and Grant Hill at their height were better
(01:09:37):
players than Derek Rose at his home. I don't disagree
with that. I mean, I know Derek Rose one of
the MVP, and like you said, they won sixty games,
but there was always something that I just was like, yeah,
I see it, I see the success, but I never
felt like it was I don't know, it's fluid the
right way or not fluid is because those Chicago teams
(01:10:00):
where they won the sixty with time table though as coach,
they were built around Derek's offense and then everybody else
was a grinder, a rebounder, a spot up shooter. You know.
It was almost like Alan Iverson in Iverson in Philadelphia
with Larry Brown, where you know it was totally built
around whereas Grant Hill and Penny were better all around
(01:10:22):
played like, you know, they shared the basketball. They were
different pass I was coming to the NBA then, Man
that it was pretty They were phenomenal, were they? If
Shaq would have stayed, they probably would have won. Yeah,
I got it, I think, I mean it would have
been really interesting because because really that was it with Jordan,
you know Jordan. That was into Jordan. But even don't
(01:10:43):
forget this. They lost to Houston and if you remember
Nick Nick Anderson miss they were gonna win that game.
They were gonna win. I don't know, did he missed two?
Miss like four? He missed four? He missed two and
then went back to Limas two more game. Was never
to say he was good. He was a really good player.
And I remember that I was covering that NBA Finals
(01:11:06):
and I could not get over that. I mean I was,
and they couldn't because they couldn't. That shook them. It's
hard for me to say they got swept, that they
would have won the series. But it changed everything, totally
changed everything. I was. You were covering it. I was
actually on my honeymoon in Cancun. But watching those games
and the way you're supposed to be, what are you doing? Wait?
(01:11:31):
Look the game's only two hours that you can do.
You can watch TV and do other things all ripping me,
like because I was watching Tiger Woods in the honeymoon. Honey, Look,
the NBA Finals was more exciting than Tiger One of
the masters that Augusta. Come on now, it was nice,
but that's we were supposed to be rolling around in
(01:11:51):
the hand and we're watching golf. The one thing our
marriage went south all right on that. And they weren't
clapping after. It was all on that note. That was
the staff at the hotel clapping after. And they thought
we were a Hawaiian couple. Did you know that they
thought we were Hawaiian because they kept hearing my ex
wife go lu lu lu hotel. Look, just please tell
(01:12:18):
me this is not the material you're gonna use for
our senio. And don't you dare say this stuff in
front of airy spears. All right, we got more of
the eye couple coming up next, but first it's time
for Dev Carson. She was zie funny laughing in the studio.
I heard a laugh save him from himself. Ya, all righty,
(01:12:40):
we'll tell you what a good news. Nick mullins first
NFL pass was a completion everybody, so that in case
you're going, who's Nick Mullins. He's the starting quarterback for
the forty nine ers tonight as they take on the
Oakland Raiders. Forty nine ers with the ball right now,
Raiders are up three nothing, got a field goal from
Daniel Carlson. Taking a look though at the injury report,
(01:13:00):
all eyes are on Doug Martin. He was in the
tent having his wrist examined. He was dinged up during
the first drive for Oakland. Also, tackle Colton Miller was down.
He tweaked his right leg. So we'll keep an eye
on them and see if they come back into the game.
But again it's a three nothing lead for the Raiders
at the forty nine ers eight thirty eight to go.
First quarter, Niners with their first possession and they're already
(01:13:22):
on the other side of the fifties. So there you go.
Also before the game, John Gruden made some news. He
had to sit down interview with Fox's How He Long
and says he gets calls from players who say they're
quote dying to play for the Raiders. Oh please quote
there you go. I just report to you. Don't don't
kill the message. I understand you know in the business
(01:13:43):
weeping in me, Chris we get killed as exactly exactly.
Chairman of the University of Maryland's Board of Regents, James T. Brady,
stepping down effective immediately. You know, the board initially voted
to reinstate football coach DJ Durkin been in the wake
of the widespread outrage, they ended up firing him. So
the chairman, I guess, stepping down after a lot of criticism.
(01:14:05):
But you know what, yeah, it's just crazy, and no
one's saying that the coach obviously just happened under his watch.
But once that happens, I just don't know how coach returned. Seriously,
you know what I'm meaning, Well, how do you go
into somebody's living room and say, yeah, I'm gonna take
care of your See how you take care of kids?
I agree. I think the boarder we just made a
(01:14:28):
bad mistake. They really did. I think they were probably
looking ahead at the lawsuit that the parents are bringing
and they were probably thinking even though you know, Wallace Lowe,
the president, had already said we are culpable responsible. I
think the Board of Regents was trying to cover their
hides and they made a horrible move, But yeah, I
think they all need to kind of step away and
(01:14:49):
just clean the slate and let some new folks take over.
Thursday's Discover Card key matchup features the Nashville Predators at

Rob Batman was my favorite superhero. Yes, I was a
Batman and Superman. If I to pick one, I probably
would pick Superman really only because he was a newspaper guy.
I love that whole Yeah, you know what I mean.
He was a newspaper guy. He's always looking out for
the little guy. It really goes hand in hand when
you think about it, because that's really what a newspaper
reporter is, really looking out for the little guy. Yeah,
(01:17:51):
who doesn't have a boy? Give you that, you know what?
But Batman was great. I love the camp be ridiculous show,
you know what, Batman and robbin and yeah, because and
it didn't seem campy and ridiculous no, as a kid,
ten year old, right, But then as you got older.
You're like, these lines are so sappy, like crazy stuff crazy.
It's a TV theme song. Thursday here on the Odd Couple,
(01:18:15):
and uh time for shop talkin Nobody. Ain't never been
a bomb shop? You know that? Ain't nobody? Isn't you
talk about whoever it whatever, whatever you want to in
the bush. It's shop talk, Yes, sir, this shop talk
here in the Odd Couple of Fox Sports Radio. We
do this every single Thursday at eight forty five pm Eastern.
(01:18:37):
We talk about things outside the world of sports because
we got other interests. Of course we do. Rob Parker's
a comedian some part time while speaking at comedy. It
was announced earlier today that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence
will be teaming up for a third time to make
Bad Boys three Money Grab Now. I don't know if
(01:18:58):
anyone really wants to see Bad Boy. Don't have any
wee any Groundswelve like Bad Boys though so I did
like those movies. The conversation here is, what's a sequel
either that you like that no one else liked, or
one that you think that we could have done without
it may have ruined the franchise. Well, I don't think
there's ruined the franchise. But the sequel that comes to
(01:19:20):
my mind, uh is Rocky five. That was the one
with Tommy Morrison. That one was just bad and and
to be honest, six six was six Drago. I could
have done with that before. I mean, I liked the
Polo Creed. I was actually pulling for Apolo Creed to
beat Rocky. Yeah, okay, you were you were in you
(01:19:41):
were in a time warpor dreem like the Polo Creed.
So I hate to see it and't even get killed.
But i' muna say Rocky five with with Tommy Morrison,
I could have done without mine? Was was? I loved
the movie, the original movie Jaws. I thought that was
really a good movie, and then they just got crazy
with it. Do you remember the Revenge? Do you remember
(01:20:02):
but Jaws four? The tagline in that movie was Jaws four.
And this time it's personal, you know, like I swear
that was a that was a tag. This time it's personal.
It's like like what, oh man, that's crazy? What about you? Well,
(01:20:25):
what you got? There's a few one of them that
I really couldn't stand. Was. I actually enjoyed the first
three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. With Johnny Depp, and
I remember seeing the third one at the Alcappytat theater
here in La so you know, they dressed up the
whole theater. It's very ocean themed, right, and then he
went in made two more that had no bearing at
(01:20:46):
all on the original story. But you know what, and
those movies, I thought Johnny Depp was like playing with everybody,
you know, like the character was like like he was like,
this is so much BS and I'm they're paying me
all this money, like you know what I mean? Like
he was like, even did you like all of them?
I liked them all, but not after three two they
kind of just fell off. How about you, Alex? What
what would you say? Well, I'd have to say most
(01:21:07):
of the time franchises they try to money grab when
they make a movie better than predicted, so they keep
the line going, which hurts a lot of movies. But
for me, it was a Fast and and Furious. The
first two were good. Tokyo Drift was stellar, and then
it just fell off and they're just throwing and everybody
doing bigger. I was gonna bring that up, but they
keep selling. It's because we keep going, so they keep
(01:21:28):
making them. The Submarine. I was not big in the
Fast and Furious franchise, so I don't know what the
movies are like, but I assume they were good because
people keep going to see you. Hey, Dad, what about you?
You got a movie that they probably should have stopped
after one or two. I do, and I think because
I saw the first Saturday Night Fever when I was older,
(01:21:50):
I really couldn't wait to see Staying Alive and it
was awful. It was awful. You know what. John Travolta
became box office poison with that. That was a movie.
It was so bad, especially I mean Saturday Night Fever
was just such an awesome classic film, no doubt about it.
And I'll tell it real quick. Oh the Planet of
the Apes. The first couple were outstanding, especially the first
(01:22:11):
one terrible, but I liked most of them. I couple, Yes, indeed,
it is the Eye Couple. I'm Chris Brussard alongside my

And sometimes when I've done these shows, I know the
names and the faces, but because it's syndicated, the bodies
don't beat in baby elsewhere, I'll be filling in with
other dudes who wrapped the show. So when I walked in,
(01:25:07):
I was like, yo, really, all I can think about
because I know you probably already know people have messed
with you on on Twitter because how you say Lebron
Right Jack, Chris Jack, I'm geeking right now. Yeah, we
saw you, you know, in our studio. We have a
(01:25:28):
window to the street and we just saw you walking
by on the street. Yeah, and we said yo to
our intern, Hey that's Eric Spears. Go get him, see
if he'll come in, right and man, so to have
you here is great, one of the great. But one
thing we should say is we appreciate you because it
was a miscommunication with our intern. Sean you will here
(01:25:49):
this morning at five ready to go. I'm putting them blast.
But you know what I appreciate you is that dude,
you could have been like, man, all right, I went
came back. Man, We appreciate this man. I operated by
white folk rules. I'm early on time. I like that.
I was up at the crack of dawn, got here
(01:26:10):
and it was like nine six to seven pm. Just
he just didn't think that the Brothers would have a
prime time drive show. Is that it? Hey, whether it's
primetime morning after morning, this mister peak hours. You know,
so y'all got the prime time out. Now we appreciate
it and one of the things you known for and
that I love you do impressions. Yes, you do some
(01:26:31):
tremendous impression brother. And I like the hip hop ones
and the and the sports one. So can you do
a few hip hop ones for It's like I'm just
gonna throw the name and I don't know if you
want to put them on a spot like can I
can I do it? Or not? The rap thing? I
do that with with a beat? Like that's that's want
(01:26:54):
to do that? Let me let me we can get
the beat and how you want to do it. We're
playing by air with the beat. But but any any
athlete questions you want to ask, like daddy, here we do.
Let's get into it. Okay, Okay, So I want to
ask Sho Okay, I want to ask Shock a question? Uh, Shock?
What you you made your living with the Lakers? I
(01:27:16):
mean that's where you won your three of your titles.
Now you got Lebron coming here? How you feel about that?
You know, Lebron's gonna be one of and the like
you know, people talk about the classic big man, they
talk about well, they talk about Kareem, but then you
got the two guards. You got you know, magic at
the point. You got Kobe at the two. But you
have a power forward like Lebron. As long as the
(01:27:36):
others do what they gotta do, be fine. They're gonna
shrug a little bit, Lebron. Lebron gonna get this. I'll
tell Chuck all the time. Lebron will get this. It's
about the others. Kuzma, you know, Ray, Jean, Rondo, h Ingram,
what the others. If they do what they gotta door,
that is great. That is great. And you had the
look down yea great show about Charles Barkley. You got
(01:28:01):
a little Charles Barkley for us. You know, Charles, you
picked the Lakers to be eighth in the uh Washton Conference.
You're not that confident about Lebron coming to the Lakers,
are you. Let me tell you something I tell I
tell Earn in Canada. First of all, they don't even
have when you on paper, they're not a good team.
People look at that team. Everybody know, like like skill said,
(01:28:24):
I said, Earn. Look Ernad kenned. First of all, let
me tell something, Lebron James is the greatest athlete uh
that since Michael Jordan and I played with Michael Jordan
and against Michael Jordan, and and and people want to
people talk about Lebron better than Michael. He not even
been than Kobe. Kobe Bryant from from an athletic standpoint,
(01:28:48):
is one of the greatest scores. But that team not
good on paper. Everybody know what Lebron gonna do, great defense,
great offense. But then the rth them guys, they ain't
got no shooters. They got a lot of whole was
in the defense. Uh, that's gonna be tough in the
West because Denver's good. You look at all the teams.
You know you got Golden State, Uh, Houston with Mike d'Antona.
(01:29:13):
Because even Houston they're not as good as they was
defensively last year. But Mike duntona, he changed the scheme.
It's gonna be it's gonna be very interesting. It's gonna
be very interesting. Shut. So how are you talking about
Lebron like that when you never want to ring? Well, first,
let me tell you something. First of all, when I
played on the Dream Team, you know, I was with
(01:29:33):
Larry Michael Magic all in Hall of Famers, So I
might not want to ring, but I had ring experts
had a lot of ring experts, and it was one
of the greatest moments of my life to go down
in the Hall of Fame knowing I was with the
greatest team ever. Yeah, good is awesome. Thank you. Let
(01:29:55):
me let me tell you I keep I keep priding
myself because I go. You know, with Shaq, it's the obvious,
it's the face, right, you know. And with Barkley, it's
saying adding syllables to words interesting, athletic, athlete, athlete. I'm
trying to nail Michael Jordan. Man, you don't have him down.
Fact well, you know, there's a subtle lead to Michael
(01:30:15):
and because he doesn't put himself out there like everybody.
But I noticed when he says certain things like you know, uh,
when I lose motivationally the games. Tell me to sit
with the game, you know, for the city of Chicago.
You know, play a lot of golf, spend time with
my kids like my father did with me. Uh, but
you know, you gotta get me rid of this game.
You know, it's it's it's you know, he's not as obvious.
(01:30:36):
But I'm, like I said, I'm such a groupie Jordan, dude.
You know, tell me I say, yeah, tell me your sports,
uh history as far as you were born in Chicago,
but really grew up in New York. Born in Chicago,
left when I was an infant, so I didn't really
I don't know nothing about Shytown other than the pizza
and some of the food. But uh, New York still
(01:30:58):
take thing crushed over? Don't you like the thing cross?
I do as a New Yorker? But that that uh
I forget Jared Dello, I forget what the name is
in Chicago, but that the crusts man, that's something to behold.
But you know, folding a piece of pizza New York,
I don't hate that crust. Are you familiar with are
you familiar with? Marberries? Right there? No Downld Block. I've
(01:31:20):
seen it. I've never eating there is that New York
pizzas a matter of fact, owner from New York. And
you know it's all about the water, which is what
makes the crust bread. And he flies it in. What
you got? It's right next to the car wash. I'm
telling you. You talk about that thin slice foldable pizza.
(01:31:43):
One of our guys you there, Lee, our producer, Oh
yeah wow. And you know I walked past it the futures,
the baby, and a lot of places out here want
to go New York Pizza, but that's New York Pizza. Yeah.
But to answer your question, so New York was my
stomping ground, and like they say, home is where you
lay your hat. You know, everybody associate twopoc with West Coast,
(01:32:05):
but Tupac from New York. Michael Jordan claims North Carolina.
But same hotel of the same hospital. Is that Mike Tyson?
Did you know they were both born in the same
hospital hospital in Brooklyn. You know, Mike almost took it
to Mike. Mike almost took it to Yeah, I read
that story. That's the el Jordan would have taken. Yeah,
that's all of us would take. But uh so, yeah, man,
(01:32:28):
I didn't start watching basketball until Jordan, Like I just
was never and of course, like the rest of the world,
saw that greatness and was glued and was a fan.
So I followed Mike all throughout his Bulls years and
then once he retired, I was like, well, I'm gonna go.
But I was cool with Shack and around that time
Shack It went to Miami. That's when I discovered d
(01:32:49):
Wade and I was a fan, and then when that
broke up, Lebron came and I was never even a
Lebron fan till Miami, and I am a Lebron fan.
But if you wanted the millennials, they want to make
that bogus argument, I'm gonna fight you, my man. Why
tell them why? Here's the thing. I'm glad a lot
(01:33:10):
of these young kids they live in the moment, and
obviously you want to believe recall a prison of them. All.
Your time is your time. You know you couldn't tell
them old cats back into bootleg days when they made
their own liquor, that Jack Johnson and buggeting carriages. Wasn't
it wanting to move? But I'm forty three. I saw
Mike from beginning to end. I've seen Kobe from beginning
(01:33:32):
to end. I'm watching Lebron from beginning until it ends.
It's ain't a biased opinion the Saint. Oh, it's just
me and my era. I've seen them all, and don't
get me wrong, it's like a gumbo recipe. Kobe Gumbo delicious,
Lebron gumbo delicious. Something missing I don't know what ingredient,
(01:33:52):
the sausage. Something Mike got that Mike put his foot
in it, that's right. And that's the other thing with
the millennials that they just find like what worked for
them for their story, like winning is not important, like Mike.
They just putting Michael Jordans winning six like it don't matter,
(01:34:14):
you will because somebody the greatest ever And you're like, oh, well,
so what anybody could You're gonna say just because he
won six rings? And then yeah, but then they hold
up to how many times he's been versus Mike getting
knocked out of the first round. I can't say it
on air, but I have an analogy for that. It
sums that up, sums that up quite wonderfully when people
(01:34:34):
make that argument and let me let me, let me
blow some holes in another argument that I can't stand. Well,
if it's about rings, Russell's better than stop. You know,
we argue all the time, how many teams win the
NBA when Bill Russell was winning all those more specifically,
how many black men win? Right? Right? Right? You can't
be the best if you don't play the best. Stop.
(01:35:00):
Come on, man, It was like that unwritten role you
and you saw the numbers. Will Chamberlain fifty point twenty
six rebounds a game O Scavage and the Triple Love.
If you took out two thirds of the black players
today and replaced them with white players, shock and all these,
they'd be putting up similar numbers. And here's the other
thing too, I tell look, there's a there's a difference
(01:35:23):
between being the reason you win and winning for a reason,
right because because here's what they'll say is, well, if
it's about rings, Robert Or's the best. But here's what
I'm saying, Guys like Michael Magic, Larry Isaiah, Kobe Shack,
they were the reasons their team won. Robert Or won
(01:35:44):
for a reason. Right, he was right place, right Tim
that I don't take anything away from you, but he
was cut. But it was like, come on, man, you
ain't franchise. Nah, you ain't the face. You know. You
on the right team at the right time, which is
why you got seven. Right. The Bulls won six because
of Jordan and Pippin and of course the role players. Yeah,
(01:36:06):
but let's there's a difference. Yea. All right, we got
plenty more coming up with airy Spears. He's a self
proclaimed Lakers hater. Well, no, I never was, Okay, all right,
but all right, yeah, It's the Eye Couple. Keep it Locked,
Fox Sports Radio. This program brought to you by Progressive Insurance.
(01:36:29):
Last year, over three million drivers switched to Progressive. Call
one eight hundred Progressive or if is it Progressive dot
com today and find out if you could save. It's
the Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio, Chris Brussar and
Rob Parker. We are joined by actor and comedian Airy Spears. Well,
this is Mad TV's It's a TV Theme Song Thursday,
(01:36:53):
because because aries we it is a TV theme song Thursday.
So all the songs coming in from the breaks are
TV themes down not playing what was your favorite TV's
gonna ask you what my favorite? I'm not playing what
Happened with Bill? But it was one of my favorites.
Going to the boy too soon, You're going to have
(01:37:13):
a nickname from me, going to call me Pepe stands
for the Bulletling Pop. I don't care about what deserved breakfast, lunch,
of dinner, as long as the desert is jello good.
What was your what was your favorite TV show? That
is my favorite TV show? U get that theme ready,
(01:37:33):
Let's see if we got it. You know, Here's why
I'm gonna say The Cosby Show, and it's a tie
Growing Pains, Growing Pains because I had a crush on
either Felicia Rashard or Jonah Kerns. Wow, my mom from
going Growing Pains was smoking Growing Pains. But yeah, that
was the one with Alex. Was it Alec bar Alex
Thick and Kirk camera Kirk camera, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
(01:37:58):
it is, yeah it is. Okay, come on, man, but
I know you I know about having in a different world.
I did two episodes, yeah, two guests episodes. Okay, did
Lisa bon have a bone? No? Okay, these were posts.
Those are the best years. Yeah when it was about
Kim Guy. Okay, but I understand about having crushes because
(01:38:22):
my favorite show is The Golden Girls and Darthy Come on, man, Ruth,
come on, what was her TV name? Blanch blanch see
you know you know, you know he had stop stop
some song, this whole song by heart. Come on to
sing it together, ready, body, here we go one two.
(01:38:43):
Thank you for being a friend, traveled down the road
and back again, your heartest true, You're pallet a coll dog.
Boom boom. And if we do a party and invited everyone,
(01:39:04):
you knew you would see the Vegas band would be
from me, and the car attached would say, thank you
for being a friend. Yeah, the DMX remax, Come on, man,
being a friend, give us the DMX remake. Fair. That
(01:39:25):
was awesome, That was great. Tell me that show is.
People don't know who I gonna watch. That show was hilarious, hilarious.
And McClanahan was still she was still she was she
was still. She was still a tramp at sixty five.
Come on, look at Chris. You can't believe you know that?
Give me a DMAX. Let me ask you, Chris quick,
(01:39:46):
if you had to choose Ruth McClanahan, uh uh a
stell Getty Isabel Sanford Isabel saying which reason? Sweezy squeezy Florida.
I liked the sisters man, okay, so Florida Evans or
Mabel King? Mabel King? Look at you? They were both great? Great,
(01:40:12):
all right, let's go to Let's go to the NBA
and the Lakers. All right, well, Bron James, okay, go ahead, No,
Lebron James is in La. Right, you like the move
that he decided that he came out because I told
you aries he came out here not to win championships.
But to be Meryl Street, that's why Lebron is here?
What about him to win championships? They did much weight.
Laugh to laugh and listen, I get it. It's not bad. Listen.
(01:40:35):
If he don't win one, it's gonna be laughable. Yes,
because the way of the world is on his shoulders.
Now they better get somebody. I respected from the move
that he could have went and pulled the KD and
went where he had a real shot. But this is
gonna be tough man and had a sure shot. Yes,
and if he could pull this off, don't to you.
Lebron stands relax. Yes, it will add to his legacy. Yes,
(01:41:00):
will make him greater, but not Jordan right ever ever ever.
But if he doesn't win one, people look back and
be like, he came to La was a flop. It
didn't happen. He came to the But do you think
that's because of the pressure of the Shack and Kobe,
the Kareem, the Wilt, the Jerry West people out here
in Los Angeles. When you talk about the Lakers, it's
about winning. It just did. And when you come here
(01:41:22):
and play for franchise like that, people expect you to win.
I don't think anybody will be like, well that was cool.
Lebron came for four years now and we got knocked
out of the playoffs twice in the first round and
that was cool. No, it will not be cool, I
said when he was still in Cleveland, there was all
the rumors that he was gonna come to the Lakers.
I said, look, be careful because if you come to
(01:41:44):
the Lakers getting them back to the second round, even
the conference finals, even the finals, and you lose, that's
not good enough. Because all the great players on Lebron's
level here that played here, Jerry West, Will Chamberlain, Shaquille O'Neil,
Kobe Bryant, Kareem Magic, Uh, they all won at least
(01:42:04):
one championship. So you come here and you don't deliver,
and that's gonna be a little that's gonna be a
little heat for you. Right Um, I'm gonna be honest, man.
Unless injuries take part, nobody's beating Golden Star. And what's
scary about them? When Boogie Cousins get right, but you
(01:42:25):
just you just added another say hello to my little
friend to the team, right right right? The only thing
that can stop them not just this year, but going
forward the next three years. Is if Kevin Durant leaves
as a free agent, and I think he probably will,
I don't think he will. Think he might stay at
(01:42:46):
least one more year because the new arena next year
in San Francisco. I just think most people think, even
in Golden State, they think he's not gonna in his
can't see him leaving. If they're winning rings, well they're
gonna be winning rings. So what I'm saying, though Lebron
got a four year deal, as long as Golden State
keep winning, I don't see Lebron win. Well beyond that,
(01:43:07):
Lebron's gonna they're gonna have to get another free nobody's coming.
He doesn't get Kawhi Leonard or Anthony Davis or somebody
like that, they're not gonna win. I think they're gonna
bring back Smush Parker. I don't think that he has
a chance. I'm bringing speak. I'm glad you told that
corny little joke because aries Rob is an aspiring comedian.
(01:43:29):
It's all up, baby, you gotta I know you can't
tell that body jokes he's been telling, But give him
some advice, give him some I guess I guess what
I want to do is I want to I've been
wanting to get up on State, make him funnier. I
have some good jokes. You know, you can't teach this. No,
he can't give that. That's not good. You gotta you
(01:43:49):
gotta either have it or you don't. I used to
be funny and you know, like around my friend, you
know how you are funny around? That's when you can
make people after they invested in your a personal standpoint.
So you mean I'm gonna flop. I won't say that.
I haven't seen you man. You know, has Mike Tyson
(01:44:09):
seen Rob. I thought a lot of guys when I
was in the Indian and the prisoners, I thought a
lot of guys, you know, I thought a lot of
guys try to be funny. And you know, if I
reached my tea now, so if I if those guys
made fun of me back then we would have had
you know, we would have had relations, whether you wanted
to or not. Mike hey, hey man, Alex throwing the
(01:44:34):
throwing the jay Z beat, Man throwing the jay Z beat.
You know, okay we start with then you know yet, no, no,
just look for something that's like contemporary R and B
not too smooth, not too slow, but not too fast,
something with a nice little rhythm to it. Because sometimes
with the rappers, when they have their own beats, you
really got to lock in today cadence to get that
(01:44:57):
flow right. But when something's a little R and B
is should chillish, it's a different kind of wave. You
can roll right, all right. So let me know when
you when you when you got that up? All right?
It's really playing this pressure on me right now. Well,
I mean it's so, I mean me away. Thank you,
I mean you you sound just like these dudes. Thank you,
(01:45:17):
Brother jay z s new building mic now, it's kind
of crazy. Hold the baby doing a mic check right now.
Who's your favorite hoop team? Man? I know you. Whichever
one of them a boyd next? That's my favorite seat.
Whichever one of them a boy next? You know, I've
(01:45:37):
been up. I'm not I don't really play hoop myself,
but you know, coming from New York and watching Ron
and t Wade, it's kind of crazy out there. He is,
he's got that Brooklyn, He's he's in New York. He's
a swagger a swagger baby. Yeah, you know what I mean,
dang man, that isn't that's unless see what you got
(01:46:00):
not John Legend. You want us to make love a
little bit more faster paced, slow jam this white man
for you. Yeah, you got an instrumental to that right now?
Comes around? Now? Oh is that right right there? All
(01:46:30):
right right right here? Here? It comes there? Go all right,
get it? You're what's up? Baby? Shit manll me? It's
kind of crazy right now. Y'all know the shoulder lips
sick man, all the stuff I do and your snoop

How we do it? You know when we can we

the most snoop dog a. Yeah there, what's real now, man,
ha ha, this is real relaxed right now. He'll turn
(01:47:14):

don't want to see a dog when the beef is
in the streets. You don't want to see that dog.
When the beast is off the leash, I might shoot
you the teeth and I'm an give it a spark.
If I can't get you in the day, I'm gonna
get you and the dog. That's how I do dark.
When the dog gets real, dog, get hell dog, get

How I roll through you like a cancer dog speak

The keem old flushed to the ball. My roll life windowed,

from aries, but first let's check in with Dab Carson.
It was trend what's up death? Hello, gentlemen? How you
like those impressions? That's amazing. That was amazing. I mean
my favors were I mean, Shack was spot on, I
was Barkley spot on, awesome, awesome. It's so great to
have him here. Thank you you bet and dab. He
(01:49:29):
can sing Golden Girls team, so he's already on. By
the way, I wanted to sneak in there and see
you guys as you were doing that. I'm hoping we
were vibing on that one, because you know, either you
got it or you don't. Yeah, well, I could feel
it in here. I just I wish I could see it.
I visualized in my head. That was pretty pretty awesome though.
But hey, by the way, speaking of awesome, how about
a stellar NFL debut so far for Niners quarterback Nick Mullins.
(01:49:54):
Bulls looking middle, Mullins throwing touchdown Lundy Niners Tiger Woods
fist point for Nick Mullins after he unloads that had
Boards down there doing his freak dance, and that was
his second touchdown of the night. His stat line so
far ten of thirteen, four hundred seven yards, two touchdowns,
forty nine ers with a fourteen three lead over the
Raiders about a minute forty to go in the second quarter.
(01:50:16):
That was the nine Ers radio network with a call

the next couple days, but he now has till Friday
at four pm Eastern. He still has two years left
on that sixty five million dollar deal. They also pushed
back the deadline on David Freeze's player option to Friday. So, so, Dad,
what do you what do you think they're working out
a deal? Probably two years more exactly they're working out. Yeah,
(01:51:22):
that's that's what I'm guessing. So it's not gonna be
a long term, long term deal. No, no, just add
two years to that contract you already has exact. Probably
that's what they should. Yeah, yeah, I get it all.
He wants to stay here. Yeah all right, dad, thank

had in May those other days and you knew what
(01:52:50):
I used to be able to do her her impression,
did you? Yeah? My voice? I was younger. What a
great show that was? Yeah, bets head because the Affrican
Americans did. Yeah, all right, you are tuned into the
I Couple Chris Bruce a Rod Parker and we're joined
by actor comedian Airy Spear in studio as a TV
(01:53:12):
theme song Thursday Aries, Yes, Mad TV eight years. Just
talk to us like, what was that? Expect had to
be so much real quick before I dive into that
for those of y'all who might have short memory or
who never saw it. Also because this kind of gave
me my second win as far as popularity, the first
(01:53:33):
uh Shack saw Star comedy Jam with Kevin Hart, d
Ray Davis, Tommy Davis and Cedric and myself. Some of
y'all might have remembered me from that if you were
not in the Mad TV years. Uh so yeah, back
to me. We had Cedric going last week he yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And you know, Shock's done a gazillion of those Star Game.
(01:53:54):
Without question, people will come up to me and go yo.
That first one. The one y'all didn't female was that
the best untouchable. People will either go Kevin Hart or me.
They'll go yo, you yo, Kevin was the best or
I was the best. And I hope I'm not trying
to come off vain, No, no, I'm just I'm just
saying we brought the thunder that was lightning in the bottle.
But to answer your question, Uh, yeah, man, mad TV,
(01:54:18):
I I I secretly wished it was Saturday Night Live.
Maybe I a different places, but I always say mad
TV felt like would all due respect the CBA compared
to the NBA. You know, there was a stretching time
where people would go ratings wise, we were killing him
and a certain demographic young dudes. We were we were
(01:54:39):
funnier and better than them. Well Farrell himself was told
me had a car watch yo. Man, y'all are insane.
But we never from the industry got that love because
we were always like that is like, yeah the step child, right,
so you know. But for those that liked it gave
me the love, the compliments it was it was. It
(01:55:00):
was I'm more famous now than I would be had
it not happened. Did you ever try out for Saturday?
And I don't know how they do it. We'll have
a shot at getting on there. You know. At the time,
I joined Mad TV when I was twenty two years old. Young, yeah, man, wow, Yeah.
I started doing stand up when I was fourteen. I
did comedy jam with Martin at sixteen show time at Apologis.
I didn't even realize you were that y'all. Yeah, I've
(01:55:21):
been in this game twenty nine years man, so uh yeah,
I got on the show. And when I got on,
Lauren Michaels had a strict rule. If you were on
any other sketch show, you had no shot. Hum. And
plus I was living in la at the time, So
had I been in New York, different chance, different circumstances,
it might have popped off. But fate had me right
(01:55:42):
in the CBA. Now, who who's your favorite comedian? If
were talking all time, all time, just pick up who's
your guy? Well, I got to separate this. There's the
Mount rushmore those four Dave Chappelle, uh, the late Grade, Patrise, O'Neil,
Tommy Davidson, and Bill Burr. Wow. So your Mount Rushmore
(01:56:04):
is unique. Yes, Tommy Davison, Tommy dude, Tommy Live is
a powder cake. Did you do you remember the Magic Show?
The Magic Show? Oh yeah, we did a skin on that.
It was so bad. But but but that's its own
Tommy Davidson was, yeah, like the side sidekick, it's Ed McMahon.
(01:56:25):
You don't remember that. It was horrendous. The Magic Johnson
had run. We had a running skit on mad TV.
I'm sorry. She came out with a new show and
it was canceled in the same day. So he would
come out magic, y'all, and then by the end of
the show we canceled. But to see you next week
(01:56:45):
somewhere else. But the only thing Magic, Magic, What happened
to your show? Why? Why ain't you making your shows? Well,
you know back then, you know you you know, my
speech wasn't as together in terms of public appearances, so
I didn't really have it together back dance, you know,
but it's different not Here's what. Let me two things
about Magic. I remember he was on our senial Hall
(01:57:07):
and this was you know, when he was going through
what he was going through, and he was talking about
the video they were releasing to educate the public on
the situation. I remember he said to our ceneal, this
video is for y'all, it's for your kids. It's for
you to let them know, for you can let them know.
And to this day when he's on ESPN, he refuses
(01:57:30):
to put an s on playoffs. Hey man, let me
tell you something. This is the playoff and we got
to bring your game in the playoff. So you know,
I'm kudos the magic for being the entrepreneur tycoon he is.
It's still a little bit of that. You know, the
country from Michigan, you know what South country? Right? Yeah? Yeah,
(01:57:53):
that is great, man, that is great. Well so, all right,
so you gave us your mont restaurant. I guess it's
one but but but the mount of but the amount, Olympus,
the gods Prior, I was gonna say, I was wondering
where they were at. So they aheaded amount Rushman, Yeah, yeah,
And I don't ever include them because if you include
Eddie and Prior, well then you almost can't include Patrese
(01:58:16):
and Dave and a bunch of others. Sorry, who's the
other two? If you got those two Prior and um
Eddie Murphy who was red Fox. Uh, she red Fox.
I'm with you on that Red Fox and um, you
know it's kind of harder because everybody wants to say Carlino,
(01:58:37):
but I never really got carlin Uh like that. Um,
so I gotta throw a woman in there, so I'm
gonna say for her time. Mom's man, I knew you're
gonna say that. I knew you gotta you know what
I mean. No, I knew you're gonna say momscause she
was funny. Yeah, it was funny. Let's let's get back
to sports. I don't know what you you're a big
boxing fan, yes, fanatic. We They just had Sugar Leonard
(01:59:00):
on yesterday. Who Sugar Ray Leonard versus Floyd Mayweather. I'm
with you, go ahead, Sugar Ray Fort Hagler, Sugar Ray
Fort hearns twice. He fought Roberto Duran three times. He
fought Wilford Benitez. Right, black dudes fought each other back
(01:59:23):
in an era where we was always greasy and shiny.
Times was tough, but you had to fight to make
money back then, and they didn't. He didn't wait nine
years to fight her, right right, And I still say
Mayweather pack ye out, Prime, I go with I go
with pack ya really, yes, yes, the brothers ain't gonna
(01:59:47):
be happy with that. Mayweather Prime Sugar Shane, Sugar Shan right,
I Sugar Sugar fought him tough as the old man. Right,
But it's just and I dare to say Prime Zab
Judah because Zab gave him problems. Right, You bring up
a good point. Dudes that could match Floyd's speed or
(02:00:08):
close right, gave him problems? Yes, so, and everybody he
fought was past a prime and and and the other
thing too when I get it. You know, he's a
great defensive fighter. But dude, I don't want to see
him fight, you know, Like the biggest problem watching those
fights is that I'm not entertained. That's one reason I
do take Sugar Ray over him, because Sugar Ray would
(02:00:28):
knock you out right, pretty boy, fast all that, but
he could knock you out. Let me tell you. I
always say to people, man, if I could come back
in my next life, if you could come back in
your next life and relive a decade. I'm an eighties baby.
I was born in seventy five, so Tyson was my era,
you know, eighties and on up was my era. I
(02:00:50):
would love to come back as a man in his
prime in the seventies, to see Ali in his prime.
Everything in the seventies was better than music, the sports,
uh and you know, disease free loving, even Ali Tyson
(02:01:10):
both in their primes. Ali by points, but barely I
agree with you. Barely. I think I see. I think
Ali would have beat Tyson in the promotion. He would
have talked about him so bad. He would have mimicked
his voice, just like he did with Frasier when Tyson
(02:01:31):
was with Kevin Rooney and Custom, that's when he was
at his best. I don't think that would have bothered him. Really,
Mike was Mike was. He was in a zone and
that was Daddy was daddy for him. That's when he
was out. But almost almost guys were afraid of him.
You remember the fight. They were afraid before Did you
(02:01:54):
hear people say that man, they was afraid of him.
They had right to be right, they were. He was
knocking people's heads in to the those bleed. Yeah. Hey,
back then, if you went and got a hot dog
before the fight, missmissed it. And if you and this,
you would be mad. This was before what the DVR. Yeah,
you would miss it. If you really missed it, you
missed it. There was no going back. Yo, did you
(02:02:15):
record that? Was at right? Right? You know? I say
all the time, man like what makes that so intriguing?
