everybody excited about it. It's always dope, man, gett to
see that and those young boys be swaggy, the drip
sweet for the suits and the Texas and the whole nine.
So that'd be cool to see for so many them players. Man,
A big moment, no doubt.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
There was a big moment Saturday in Los Angeles.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Depending on how your perspective.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
Well, I mean it was Luca's first game with Right
and the Lakers playoff game. I mean, and it didn't
go quite as well as people thought that what was
gonna go? And uh, you're a Timberwools fan, yes, I
mean where just the Lakers got rolled. I mean, they
really got rolled. Nobody can deny it. You can't sugarcoat it.

(02:50):
The Lakers said it, everybody watching said it. No energy,
people wide open taking shots, just not the stuff like
you know, you can sit around and go wall and
they're not gonna shoot like that. Well they're gonna have
a better shot at shooting. You know this In the NBA,
you don't get clean looks, right, that's the whole point
of the league that you gotta make shots with people

(03:12):
in your face and hands up and all that. You
got these guys who are trained professionals, and you're gonna
get to let them get open looks. Good luck, good
luck going forward? Where you Where are you on the Lakers?

Speaker 5 (03:25):
After that game?

Speaker 1 (03:26):
You remember Movie Friday when Debo rolled up on Red
and snatched his bike and his chain and all that,
and he said, my mama gave me that chain. Later
when he got it back, Debo rolled up on the
blog and by Deebo, I mean the Minnesota Timberwolves who
realized everybody wants the Lakers to win.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Everybody's picking the Lakers.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
The Laker's supposed to get to I heard Robin Kelvin
talking about is it a failure if the Lakers don't.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Make it to the finals?

Speaker 1 (03:47):
They heard that, and remember this is the same team
that got beat down by Luca last year, so that's
also on their back of their brain.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Luca took advantage of us.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Luca gave us the business last year in the postseason
and they came in to Lakers at home. The Lakers
had a week off, Rumors are out there, Reports are
out there that they weren't scrimmaging enough and that jj
Reddick Jenna wishes they would have scrimmaged more, and they
forgot the physicality that are about to come in town
with the Timberwolves and Edwards. That's why people love him.
He's not even have the greatest game, but he brought

(04:18):
that attitude. He's taking it to Luca. He's doing the
ant Man, the Spider Man in his face. He's face
guarding Lebron like he was a defensive back going in
the NFL Draft.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
I mean, they brought the energy.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Julius Randall began on the glass, go Bare, and so
many other other bench players or their role players that
you often kind of ignore, but they actually played well.
I mean, Jay McDaniel's going ballistic out there like he
was Steph Curry, but also playing great defense. The Lakers
got pumped. The Lakers forgot what it took to win.
They just thought, Hey, where the Lakers. We got Luca
and Lebron and and Luca. This is my issue rob

(04:55):
Luca's points And this is the first time I've ever
said this, but I'm using a oh oh, we're for gazy.
They were for gaze. Luca's points were for game. What
I mean by that is Luca can wake up and.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Put thirty right. That's just matural.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
I don't care just simply about that. What I need
from you is to also find other ways to win.
Can I get you diving on the floor. Can I
get you filing a timber with hard and looking at
your team and say, let's go. He's a hard five.
That's a big boy file one of them. Follow An
Edwards and look at your team and say let's go.

(05:32):
Snap out of it like it's no longer. The expectations
are different now that you're with the Lakers, you're also
playing with Lebron Allston reasons playing well, and all eyes
are on you. So I need you to wake the
team up. It isn't just always with scoring. There's other
ways to do that. Like I said, it's giving that
for this diving on the floor, it's cussing the teammate out,
it's drawing a charge. And I need you as the leader,

(05:52):
also Lebron too. I'm not excusing him, but to me,
that's what's this one. It's not just points. And I
think Luca is going too slowly as he continues to become,
you know, a pro and veteran in the leader, realize
you can affect games more than just your points or
more than just your stat line. And I think ed
Edwards was a great example of that. Like you mentioned,
he'd had the greatest scoring out of his life, but

(06:14):
what he also had was energy effort on the defensive end,
talking smack to the crowd, getting his teammates into it,
drawing files, drawing charges, getting in Luca's face, getting in
Lebron's face. That stuff energizes your team, man, and so
I love seeing that from him, and I think the
Lakers got a little wake up call. Just because your
shirt says Lakers, just because you have arguably the best

(06:35):
offensive player in the league and one of the greatest
players of all the league time in the league, that
does not mean just a guarantee win at all.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
In fact, no, and I think you're right, and anybody
could say, oh, we don't pay attention to all that stuff.
It was all about forget about the Lakers beating the Timberwolves,
about going to the finals. Yes, right, everybody in Oh yeah, Laker, Luca.
All you need is Luca and Lebron. Man, you go
on to the finals? Are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (07:02):
It's the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
This is the player everybody has to show up, even
your eighth nineteenth man, because if I give Lukey and
Lebron sixty points, you still gotta get about another fifty.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
You know, you still got to lock another team up.
Where is this coming from?

Speaker 1 (07:15):
In Minnesota, they had a great game plan, like they
did against Denver last year. Remember, and again it ended
up being a really good series. But they had a
good game plan and they can't. I told I was
telling Brandon here, He's like, oh, I said, man, it's
the energy of Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
That would worry me if I were a Laker fan.
The energy.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
It's not that they're necessarily the Lakers are still very skilled,
but certain teams play no hos bar from zero minutes
to forty eight minutes. I'm going hard, I'm gonna play hey,
and if you win, you win, I'll shake your hand.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
But you don't have to worry about effort.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
And Lakers came out a little lethargic second and third
quarter and gave up seventy three points between the second
and third quarter.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Right because they were up what is it eight? Yep,
And they were up eight after the first quarter. So
you had to feel like.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Okay, you know what I mean, us another day, well crypto.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
And then you got these younger guys on Minnesota and
you talked about it, the physicality of it is a difference,
and you better be ready for that for Game two
and understand that it's no joke. Like like Minnesota's already
accomplished what they wanted, what was their dream to split
in La?

Speaker 5 (08:23):
They already got that they could go for the juggular.
Let's just go all out.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
And you know, and is he ain't the type of
guy that's going to just be like happy, Oh, we
at least we tried.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
He's like, why not us? Why can't we win? Exactly?

Speaker 1 (08:33):
You know, And now finding out from the Lakers, I'm saying,
all right, again, McDaniels ain't going I think it was
eleven or thirteen or something crazy one, that's what it was.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah, he's not doing that again.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Lebron is not going to be that only giving me
nineteen points and just not really only five. More importantly
for Lebron, it be differently gave me nineteen and fifteen
a sists. Lebron can't give me nineteen points and three assists.
That is absolutely illegal. That cannot happen at all. So
to me, Lebron's gonna have to wake up. Lebron is
gonna have to he owes the team one with that

(09:06):
for performance for sure. And so again I look at
this team and I say that was the wake up
call that just because you have purple and gold jersey,
just because you have King James and you have Luca,
the Minnesota Timberwolves are not going to fold. And now
JJ Reddick, let's see how you respond. What do you
cook up?

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Lebron?

Speaker 1 (09:25):
I know you can't get you you know every night
at this age, but you had a night off in
meeting even though you were playing, you might as well
count it as a night off.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
You got to show up.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
And again, Luca, I need a little bit more in
the tangibles, more so than just simply scoring.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
And if you're in Minnesota, you can't tell me you're
not sky high. You didn't just squeak out a win
or got loved. You smacked them up and everybody took notice.
And don't forget this was a team that upset Denver
last year. I know it's not exactly the same team,
but they've been through some wars. You remember that they
won the first two games if I remember correctly last year,

(10:00):
and then they wind up and they wind up going
home and losing two out of three, and it looked
like and then it was three to three, and then
they beat Denver in Denver to win this series. So
this is a team led by Aunt that has been
through that, and there's no way they don't feel confident
or feel good about where they are.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
And remember too, Minnesota has been playing really good basketball
at the end of the season, because for a while
two thirds of the season they were underachieving, You're disappointed
in what they were doing. You thought they'd be better,
and then they follow off of a sudden, they found
their way and the last stretch of the game them
will totally exclude Oklahoma City Thunder, we know that, but

(10:40):
also the Clippers, uh.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Aniana Pacers.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
There've been a handful of teams who all of a
sudden were playing some really good basketball the last, you know,
stretch of the season, and they are one of those
teams for sure. But yeah, if you're Lakers, all right,
wake up call, get smacked up at home aunt talking smack.
I mean, there's some videos of him, I'm going crazy
in the crowd. I won't say what he said. I'll
say one portion talking smack with the Laker fans. He goes, man,

(11:06):
I'm worth two hundred million. I'm worth two hundred million,
and Rudy Gobert goes to him, no, no, no, three, you're three.
And then he goes, oh, I'm worth three hundred million,
and then he goes, my main reason is larger than yeah,
And he just said that to the crowd, and I
was like, and everybody and the people the fans were like,
I'm a Laker fan.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
I can't lie.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
I like this guy like because he's just talking smack
and he's into it, and it was funny to see
even Laker fans like, all right, I kind of like
this guy like he's into it.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. A lot of
people it was all Laker heavy before Game one. Forget
about Minnesota. It was about going to the championship. And
I'm not saying one game one home loss derails everything,
but I just wonder if people don't feel as good

(11:54):
when you see some of the issues that you know,
you were talking about defensively and letting all these open
shots and different things that need to be cleaned up,
Otherwise you'll wind up being going home sooner than later.
And that would be a that would be a big shot.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
I think the Lakers are fine, but I think they
needed that get punching them out Deebo Snatcher chain in
your own house moment.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
It's like, oh, yeah, this ain't gonna be easy.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Just because my name is Lebron, just because my name
is Luca and we got we wear Laker jerseys. You
gotta bring it, you gotta play and I think that
was the reminder they needed.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
All right, eight seven, seven ninety nine off Fox. Where
are you on the Lakers? Good to go, no sweat,
no skin off your apple? Or was that a little
wake up for you? Do you think like maybe they
are vulnerable? Maybe they might not make it there? What
was that? How do you not get up for Game
one in your crib? Right like Game one of the

(12:46):
playoffs in your crib? It is The Odd Couple on

(13:34):
I talking about the Lakers, I say they got punched
in them mouth, they got debo like the movie Friday.
They got the chain snatched in their own house. But
I think they'll bounce back. But Minnesotay ain't playing around
with them.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
What do you say, Rob, Yeah, I'm not there with
the Lakers. You know, I didn't pick them from Jump
Street to get to the finals. And you saw a
little bit right here in Game one. Don't take things
for granted just because you show up and you got
big mar Key names.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
You gotta play the games. And Soda showed you that.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox taking some calls.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
All right, Troy and Dallas, you're on they couple of
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (14:06):
What's up, Troy, Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 6 (14:09):
Fellas, long time listener, first time calling. Thank you, appreciate it,
appreciate the show man. You gotta do an awesome job.

Speaker 5 (14:16):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 6 (14:17):
So I kind of agree with both of you. As
Rob said, I do think the Lakers kind of took
them for granted. And by the way, I'm a long
time Lakers fan. So, but I'm a realist also, right, so,
I think that they did take them for granted. But
on the on the flip side of that, I don't
think there's a way I'll be willing to put a
couple bucks down on Minnesota hitting twenty one threes. Again,

(14:41):
I don't think that's gonna.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Have franchise record. You're right about that.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
They don't have to like like I keep hearing that,
but you don't have to.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
They don't have to win like they blew the Lakers
out that that's not what they're looking for.

Speaker 5 (14:51):
They're just looking to win, right. I agree with that.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
They're not going to get that kind of shooting, and
that doesn't mean they're gonna win by twenty five the
next game, you know what I mean. But they they
beat them, and they were physical. The Lakers have to
match that. That's all I'm saying. I agree with that.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Yep, who next?

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Skip in Minneapolis. You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Skip?

Speaker 7 (15:14):
What's up are you?

Speaker 8 (15:17):
I remember watching the Timber would back when they had
a guy like Scott Rob Todd Murphy and you know
the other guy who played with Dereck Wittenberg. Uh, he
became a coach Sydney something and uh, these guys, ain't
they those guys. What I'm trying to say is the
league has se Yeah. Yeah, so the league has evolved,

(15:41):
and this is all them summer leagues and all that evolving.
Just like okay, see is off market, but there's number one,
but the players on who they are. You don't come
to play, you're gonna get beat. And I got hands
off to the bron because he's forty years old and
I these guys in the twenties, and he's right with him.
But that's not enough anymore. Because these guys are playing

(16:04):
every week, every day. They're franchising themselves. So when you
take a day off, especially in a big light to
LA on a Saturday night, oh man, you got to
come to play. And they just did not come to play.
So unless they's up doing that, they're gonna be in
trouble because these guys ain't playing.

Speaker 9 (16:23):
That's the Wolves.

Speaker 8 (16:24):
That's what new Wolves man. No, Todd Murphy and Scott Robson,
Mitchell ol and all of the guy.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Yeah, I appreciate the call.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Yeah, listen, that's why I said, I think they take
the cue from their leader.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
Aunt Edwards and he comes in. Listen.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
You know, I might not win all the games, but
you know he's gonna play hard. You know, he's ready
to compete. And I like that they take the cue
from him. I like that a lot.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Will In Wisconsin, you're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Well, what's going on? Calvin? What's going on around?

Speaker 5 (16:51):
Are you where you been?

Speaker 10 (16:54):
Oh?

Speaker 11 (16:55):
Like I said, I've been still doing my thing and everything,
just you know, still getting out stuff.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
And asking me questions. I'm thing, you know, on the
days on what I do, the things that I do
when I do it.

Speaker 10 (17:09):
Yeah, well, I don't like to do any shaveless promotion stuff.

Speaker 6 (17:14):
But for sure he don't know you Rob.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Promote You bet on that Rob getting here a TV
or Mike. I'm one of the biggest promoters going in history.
What you got, what you got?

Speaker 11 (17:27):
Well, But I got to say that one of the
things that I really appreciate, and it's not you know,
I'm not such an old person. I can say you
don't get off my lawn, more like, hey, don't step
up my hose. But I've got to tell you in
the roster bills and sometimes not necessarily so long past.
I mean what we saw out of what san Antonio
put together and then what we saw from Golden State, right,

(17:49):
I mean, you take a look at up and down
the ross. I know they say, you know, not everybody
gets in the playoffs in the rotation, but you gotta
field at least seven eight guys.

Speaker 10 (17:56):
And when you take a look at what Golden State did,
they had capable score all up and down before you
get to the stars. So we had guys on the Lakers,
right who got you know, fifteen to thirty minutes in
the game, and they weren't, you know, kind of producing
the same as what we saw over on the other side,
you got Deevin, Cinzo Connelly still putting together qually minutes.
So I think this is actually showing, you know, just

(18:18):
how much of a luxury is in a good ess.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
I agree.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
I think that's a great point that a lot of
teams have guys who are once really really good in
the league. Now I might be coming off the bench,
but I'm still a really good player, whereas the Lakers
have dudes who've just been on the bench, like Jackson
has just been on the vent gave Vincent for the
most part, just been on the Vins and some of
the other guys that they're relying on.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
That's a good point.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
Scott in North Carolina. You're on the couple of Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
What's up?

Speaker 5 (18:42):
Scott?

Speaker 9 (18:43):
So, my god, thanks for taking my call.

Speaker 5 (18:45):
Done doing well? How are you?

Speaker 12 (18:47):
I'm done?

Speaker 6 (18:48):
Good man.

Speaker 12 (18:48):
This series reminded me of the Eagles and the Super Bowls.
I mean, everybody knew the Eagles was better. Were just
harping on patting home name.

Speaker 9 (18:57):
The Lakers are cooked.

Speaker 12 (18:58):
Let's be honest, hey, top three offensive players they can't
guard for nothing. And if I'm Minnesota, I'm just you
know a second, all three guys, they don't have any
death and it's just a bad mess up all around.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Wait a minute, okay, now hold on, Scott, make sure
you call back. What is it? U? It will be
on Wednesday.

Speaker 5 (19:19):
But Scott called back.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Scott was he was was well on the Eagles, what
he was doing it.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
He was mad at me too.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Scott was like, man, you keep talking about Patrick Mahomes
and this that and the other.

Speaker 4 (19:30):
MJ and New Orleans. I'm man, you're on the couple
of Fox Sports Rading.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
What's up.

Speaker 13 (19:33):
MJ's going on going on happy medical of Monday. Yes, sir,
back with the Beny brothers. Okay, I gotta agree with
protesthor role with Brian's Lakers already to go on manly
because him and his Bland witnesses can't have it. Both
waves conslicks going and it's fine stats versus two minus

(19:56):
any defense and JJ Redick is on.

Speaker 6 (20:00):
They want three more games.

Speaker 9 (20:01):
And dogs and hands.

Speaker 13 (20:02):
Come on, man, no way, no how thank you guys,
have a great filk, all right, appreciate you.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
Let's squeeze in calv and Culver City. You're in the
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up calv That as
good all the time.

Speaker 7 (20:17):
I hope you guys had a wonderful Easter and uh
want to pop?

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Yes, that's how you met the ball. I'll tell you later, Kevin.
Just keep listening to.

Speaker 7 (20:29):
Beautiful. Yeah, you know that basketball. Basketball is a matchup thing,
and I think the thing about the Lakers and the
Timberwles are you got three guys who the Timberwolves are
going to go after on defense, Lebron, Reeves and Donckats.
The Lakers got to give up some offense and put
some defensive guys in there. You know, like Dorian Finny Smith,
you gotta play him in Standardbilt or Jackson Hayes, have

(20:51):
some more combination of that to the gate. What dockets
and Lebron give up because Luca Donkas could still go crazy.
You got to look at the tape what they did
when Dallas damn So let Luca cook like he did
in the first quarter. Let him be aggressive and let
Lebron get more involved off the ball, and I think
the Lakers should have a chance. Also. You gotta play
Vincent with Luca too. You know when Luca had been

(21:12):
with me next to him or Jalen Brumpton, he played
a lot better. Kyrie, you gotta do that. I mean,
you know Mention had a good playoff rom with Miami.
You gotta go to something, and Rex got to make
the adjustment. It's not gonna be pretty center Reeves on
the bench at times, but you might have to do
that because he can't play any defense.

Speaker 12 (21:27):
Ye.

Speaker 9 (21:28):
So yeah, I think.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
How shocked were you though at the game and just
the energy and how they came out after that first quarter,
because after that they did look good.

Speaker 7 (21:39):
I wasn't shocked because Minnesota has guys who can make shots.
Like the Vincenzo and the Lakers do lack the preimer defense.

Speaker 9 (21:46):
That's the thing.

Speaker 7 (21:46):
When you give them Anthony Davis, you don't have that
police in the back of the line who could defend.
When you don't have your perimeters play defense, who can
you know, meet you at the rims. So you knew
that was gonna come a little bit. The Lakers really
have to make sure that they they are very efficient
with Dakas shooting the ball and making sure he's got
two or three defenders with him on the court, Vanderbilt,

(22:08):
Cinny Smith or Hophimore or Hayes at least face to
protect the back end, because you can't ask forty ye
old Lebron James to be defending Anthony Edwards. And you know,
Jimiy McDaniels, it's not gonna happen for four quarters.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
All right, we got yeah, we'll see that bounce back.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
I think Luca's gonna go nuclear and Lebron you can
know he ain't getting was in nineteen points.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
He'll play better than that. All right, Thank you, Kevin,
appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Man Eddie House on the way, we'll talk some more
NBA playoffs with him in just a moment right now, Steve,
the saga was trending.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Hello, gentlemen, And did you hear that? Rob? He just
kind of threw it out there. Did I tell you
I met the Pope?

Speaker 5 (22:40):
And I know well when I was on my.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
One trip with my wife, we did the Pope was
there when we were at the Vatican. Yeah, he didn't
bless our marriage, but he was there. I'm just saying
that was the missing ingredient.

Speaker 5 (22:55):
It just didn't do it.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
Yeah, Steve, I'm gonna tell that story next hour. Please,
you can't just throw it. I mean, I don't.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
I mean also, I don't want to make it like
we sat down and gave me the keys of life.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
But there was we had a little interaction. Yeah, you
were standing, he didn't see. This wasn't a you know,
drive by. No, I was as close as I amswer
Rob that close to him? Wow.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Very impressive and about against Saint Peter's You have the
phone on a Wednesday, twenty September twenty thirteen.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
You have the photo asp No, that's what makes the story.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
We're not finding we need video picture proof.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
I want have told you this in nineteen forty eight.
You would have been able to have you to take
my word for it.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
It's right, you'd have to wait for the news.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
You said you saw the Bigfoot.

Speaker 5 (23:36):
I want to see a picture.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
I'm just saying we got one video bigfoot or whatever
whatever that was, whatever, the guy just having some Yeah,
and I'm stop now.

Speaker 3 (23:46):

Speaker 1 (23:57):
We're joined now by our man Eddie House, NBA veteran
f its one, NBA analyst, Emmy Award winning analyst, and
he's joining right now the cup of Robin Kelvin on
the Magic City Monday.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
What's up.

Speaker 9 (24:12):
Magic City Monday?

Speaker 5 (24:13):
That's right?

Speaker 2 (24:14):
Yeah, yes, sir, you heard that laugh. That laugh was
memories Living Pepper.

Speaker 5 (24:20):
You know the best wings in Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
Come on, man, Eddie, you've been there? That laugh at memory?

Speaker 9 (24:26):
I've never been there. I'm not I'm not a I'm
not a ship club guy. You know, I knock him
everywhere else except the spook.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Okay, wow, you remember because our boy Eddie had never
been dumb, remember.

Speaker 5 (24:39):
Exactly, never ever ever? All right, Eddie? Uh let's go here.

Speaker 4 (24:44):
Uh thoughts just of the opening weekend, obviously, OKC dominant
Lakers get their butts kicked at home, Pistons give up
a twenty one nothing run. What stood out out of
all those games, Clippers is Nuggets. That was a good
one too. But which game to you? Were you surprised

(25:04):
that was it? The Lakers just not being up or
ready to go.

Speaker 9 (25:10):
I wasn't too surprised by what the how the Lakers
got dealt with, because you got to think about, like, Okay,
if Luca is gonna be the guy that's that's going
to get thirty points, then everybody else just standing around,
nobody else is involved in the game, and you could
kind of cut other guys water off. And it's not

(25:30):
a lot of other guys over there. I would say,
you want to know what the real was that? And
I wasn't surprised that the Celtics went out there and
handled our business, and we're gonna go handle some o bitness.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
I didn't bring you to sign and ask about the Celtics.

Speaker 9 (25:49):
I don''t care what you did, but tell you what
I want to talk about.

Speaker 4 (25:53):
I don't want to talk about we already know what
the Celtics are about.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
We tried, we tried to make everything but the Celtics.

Speaker 4 (25:59):
You heard that I set it up with everything about
the Celtics.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
He tried to hear mething you had Lakers and something
that Lucas. Yeah they paid the water bill or something.
Let me get back to these Celtics. Listen, we expect
the Celtics do this. I mean, yeah, they Eddie. Let
me ask you seriously.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
About okay See, just a fifty one point when you know,
like everybody's questioning, you know, how young they are, have
experience whatever? Was that a statement to just come out
and just I'm not sending a roll over everybody.

Speaker 5 (26:30):
But they didn't play around. I mean they and and
SG SGA didn't have the greatest game.

Speaker 9 (26:39):
I'll say this. The one thing that I that I
can say about okay See is that they have been
number one in defense all year and everything like deflections,
you know whatever it is, defensive efficiency, whatever you want,
a net rating, whatever, all those things. They've been number
one in defensively and so you can't look at that

(27:01):
and say, hey, that's not gonna travel, because what doesn't
travel is shot making, you know what I mean. Sometimes
guys is on. Sometimes guys are off, but you could
play defense every single night because that's everything. So like,
I don't take them as you can't take okay, see lightly,
that's that's for real. And what they did would show

(27:21):
them that they was for real laughing that they made
a statement. That's what they did.

Speaker 5 (27:25):
That's the way I looked at that game.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
That was just something yeah, I mean, and that was
what John right now.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
We know he's banged up with the ankle and everything,
but they said, you got to take this l big
time al for Eddie.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
You know, people were Mike Malone, you can't get rid
of a coach you want to championship this late in
this season, they've played, they've responded without Mike Malone, and
they've dug in a little bit defensively as well, playing
more than one side of the ball.

Speaker 5 (27:49):
Was that the right move or does it.

Speaker 9 (27:50):
Look like the right move you're talking about Denver? Yes, Uh,
I don't know. I think I think, uh the Clippers
fumbled the bag more than it was like that was
the right move. I think they fumbled the bag. I
think Clippers fumbled the bag. They have an opportunity to
win that game and actually, uh, you know, win it handedly.

(28:13):
But you can't give I can't take anything away from
what Denver had. They have championship pedigree, but only a
few guys on that team has that championship pedigree. It's
not like it's the same team. It's not like team.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
I'm just saying, like they won what they win their
last four without Malone in the regular season, and they
just continued to win, is all I'm saying.

Speaker 9 (28:37):
Yeah, No, I think Clippers fumbled the bag.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
They left some offensive rebounds go for sure. Russell Westbrook
got a couple of those against his old team that
they got to be mad about as well. But that
should be a fun serie. How do you how do
you view that series? Clippers look good the last little
third of the season. They look.

Speaker 9 (28:55):
I think it's gonna go seven. I think that's one
of those those series that go seven. If they're gonna
beat up on each other, and whoever they play in
the next series is gonna dust them off. Whoever it is.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
He's Eddie House, he's with the odd couple another minute
or so.

Speaker 5 (29:09):
Ask them about the Celtics.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
What Yeah, let me just.

Speaker 9 (29:12):
Ask what you want to ask me about?

Speaker 2 (29:13):
Well, how I'm gonna.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Ask you this. This is a real question here too too.
It's a two party here about the Celtics.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
One.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
I feel like, are we going to continue to see
more teams? Say, let's build with young guys, right, let's
get the uh these young guys who can shoot past dribble.
To me, that's why I picked the Celtics to win
it all early and you know when we did our
beginning of the year, because they have too many guys
who can shoot past dribble. Even their seven foot forty
eight year old Al Horford can shoot past dribble and

(29:41):
create porzingis Drew Holliday, Pritchet. These are guys before I
even ain't the superstars. How much does that play a
role that they have guys who can handle the ball,
create for others and obviously shoot the three like Derek
White did the other night.

Speaker 9 (29:53):
And just off the east of Sunday. I'm glad you preaching, brothers,
you know, I hear you. But you know, ask the
question again because I just thought about it.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Well, the question is how important is that going to
be moving forward in the league? Because because the Warriors
used to do that and a bunch of guys who
can shoot past dribble, and it's hard. You see, for example,
the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
Don't have that.

Speaker 9 (30:16):
Yeah, well that's the most important thing that you have.
You can't really game plan and say, hey, I could
take this guy out because everybody could put it on
the deck. Everybody can knock down a three. Everybody can
make a play for themselves or make a play for others.
And that makes it tough when you're you're that deep.
So when you look at it, I don't know another

(30:37):
team that's that deep. You know that that's able to
do those things. And you know, as good as Orlando is,
as far as you know that their their top two guys.
I know that the other brother, Wagner brother is hurt
out there. But as good as they are the top two,
it's just it's just they're not deep enough.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
Yeah, and that they're gonna be good team next year,
but not right now. Hey, we appreciate you Eddie Man
as always, Thank you brother, right, no doubt, Eddie House
right there joining us. Always appreciate when he can come
give us some insight into these NBA Now into the playoffs,
all right, Uh, the NBA Awards, you got the finalists,
We talked a little bit about it with Steve De
Sager moments ago. We'll just go over those little bit

(31:20):
see if there's some areas where they got it right,
they got it wrong.

Speaker 2 (31:22):

Fox Sports Radio Happy. They call it Easter Monday. It's
the Odd Couple. Uh yeah, Well, I'm gonna be honest
with you. I was unfamiliar until I had to speak
about the Pope for hours in his passing and in
the Vatican. In Rome, it's a big deal. They call
Easter Monday. Where you spend a lot of time with family,

(31:59):
you kind of take that next time to go to work. Yeah,
well but this was in Rome. Oh okay, this was
in Rome where Americans we work ourselves at the ball
and we work ourselves till we die. Like it just
it's we just we're crazy with that. I'm not gonna
point the elbows anybody.

Speaker 5 (32:11):
All I know is I got a work ethic, that's all.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
Man.

Speaker 5 (32:14):
I'm trying mad at it.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
Listen, I said the same thing here, and I always
get these young people. They're like, yeah, that doesn't fit
with my work life balance. I'm like, at twenty four,
I just don't know what do you mean.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
I'm not looking at you or anything. Ryan like that.
You work hard, man.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
Ryan's a hard work He is a hard here coming
to lind knows a lot of slack because you got friends.

Speaker 5 (32:32):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Ryan. You know what's funny about Ryan.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
Ryan is between the age of twenty seven and forty two.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
I don't know how old you are.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
If you told me at thirty two, I believe you
said forty If you said twenty eight, I believe you don't.
I don't answer no, answer the question because I'm gonna
say no obviously.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Okay, I'm gonna.

Speaker 5 (32:51):
Say that Ryan is twenty nine.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
All right, I'm gonna think. Let me think.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
I'm saying, try to look at look at me, Okay,
saying that he can get I'm gonna go Iron is
thirty one.

Speaker 5 (33:02):
I am thirty two. Ah, Price is right, but now, yeah,
that's a good age to get married too.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
What about me, I'm fifty seven, you are thirty three?

Speaker 5 (33:21):
Thirty one, thirty eight.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
Are you really yeah?

Speaker 5 (33:25):
Yeah, going on thirty nine in September.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
You're doing well? Then we thought, thank you the opposite.
Yeah we didn't.

Speaker 5 (33:30):
Yeah, yeah I did not.

Speaker 6 (33:31):
I did.

Speaker 5 (33:32):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
I should have stuck with my fifty six. Chris is
thirty eight. Wow, yeah, I should have stuck with my
fifty six. Hey, real quick again. As I mentioned, this's

Award finals and you can really just MVP because we're
running a long time here.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
It's what we pretty much expected it would be.

Speaker 14 (34:25):
Yeah, the three finalists for m VP, Janni Santo Tokumbos,
Shake Gilgers, Alexander and Nicolai Jokitch.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
Yeah, no, Jannis has no shot. You think he'll get
one random person?

Speaker 4 (34:36):
It was like he didn't know. I don't know how
to get first place votes. I'm out of those two
both had unbelievable seasons, so I can't see how they
would get you know what I mean?

Speaker 5 (34:46):
Yeah, not not that he won't get.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
Any votes, but the first place because if you're not vote,
because if you're voting for Shaye and and if you're not,
there has to be your kitch, yo kitch. The year
he had, he's had better. This year was better than
all of his MVP. Yes, yep, so that that one
was a given. I still thinking that it's SGA's to

(35:07):
be had again. We talked about a couple of things.
When I look at.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Up sixteen games the league, they had that team from
first place. That's just incredible over the second place, which
in this case was Rockets.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
That is just remarkable to me.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
I think that's gonna be the bigger number than anything
else that gives SGA that one most improved. I think
it's gonna go to k Cunningham. He might even be
an All NBA player actually probably thirdeen. But yeah, he'll
be most improved without a doubt.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
You know what sucks? Remember we used to actually care
about rookies.

Speaker 1 (35:39):
Yes, I couldn't you pay you one thousand dollars a
name to three people on the Rookie of the Year.

Speaker 5 (35:43):
You got the list? I do it real quick.

Speaker 14 (35:46):
Stefan Castles, Yes, and Jalen Wells, Wow, can you name
any of the teams they played for? What happened to rookies?

Speaker 1 (35:58):
Man?

Speaker 2 (35:59):
We used to be a big deal.

Speaker 5 (36:00):
It used to be there.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
