Speaker 3 (00:26):
Our number two of the Odd Couple here on a
worship Wednesday. Indeed, Rob Parker kelvin Washington. We are the
Odd Couple and we're broadcasting live from the tyre rach
dot com studios tyre rach dot com.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
We'll hope you get there.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection, and
over ten thousand recommended installers. That's right, tyre rach dot com.
The way tire buying should be coming up in about
twenty eight minutes.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Alex Tyscher, he's on the hot seat. That's right.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
I'll technical producer and also one's gotta go with doing
that as well. And then our number three, Tyler Dragon,
of course, the fine NFL reporter for USA today he'll
join us, will top jump on some NFL topics as well.
But here our number two. The big fight is coming
up on Saturday. Where is it, Kelvin?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Uh, it is going to be at Madison Square Gardens.
That's where I'm seeing this. Make sure I'm looking at
this right because I think I'll just looked at this incorrectly.
It's on Netflix, and know that I just don't know
where to fight at. Yes, why am I not seeing
it right there? All right? The big fight you got
(01:42):
of course, Mike Tyson, Jake Paul. You got two guys
one fifty eight, one is twenty seven, so a thirty
year difference there absolutely gonna be ridiculous to even see
right there. Go ahead, I'm sorry, Yeah, you too. Can't
find it? No, for some reason, I don't know why.
It just all of a sudden, I just can't freak
and see. I got everything else but sitting right here.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
It's at the AT and T Stadium, right home of
the Cowboys. Yes, yeah, it's in Dallas, Dallas and Arlington.
Actually all right, so it's at the AT and T State.
I don't know what kind of crowd they're expecting there.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
You know that packed.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
That place holds one hundred thousand is.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Not going to be packed. You think one hundred thousand people.
They won't not for they don't get a hundred, but
they get it's one hundred thousand seats. Dude, people listen, man, Rob,
Let's get into it. Then I'll explain why there's because
I think we're ignoring something that's beyond maybe even.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
I understand what you're saying, and and and I'm not
saying that no one's going to watch it or pay
attention to it or whatever. I don't think they're going
to get one hundred thousand people to pay money to
go to sit in the stadium.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
That's what I'm saying. Money is in the deal they
already have with Netflix. And however they worked it on
the back.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
And I understand train wrecks and what people why is
gawking on the highway and people always stop because they
want to see at the carnage. Yeah, but what I
want to know from you is what do you want
to see from this? Okay, we know that he's talked
about the thirty year age difference. I think that this
is a huge mistake for Mike Tyson to allow someone
(03:17):
of Jake Paul's career, caliber, pedigree, whatever you want to say,
to eat off of his legacy, because that's what it is.
Unless Mike Tyson is totally broke and just needs money
and he doesn't care about his ultimate legacy, then fine,
do what you want. I wouldn't let somebody eat off
of my legacy. Who's not worthy, okay, who's not of
(03:41):
the same ilk and putting the time and the energy
and fort in Las Vegas and fort and then one
Championships and did all the stuff not taking has been's
never was is knocking him out, you know what I mean,
and making money because of this whole carnival circus kind
of thing that Jake Paul does, Okay, And that's what
(04:02):
I would never want to be a part of. When
you have a name like Mike Tyson, and can I
tell you this story Mike Tyson got out of prison.
I was a columnist at Newsday in New York, and
you know, he goes up to Harlem and they had
me go out there to see, you know the scene.
Mike Tyson or whatever. He walked the streets to Halem.
(04:23):
People ran out of their apartments, ran out.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Of the buildings. It was like it was like yeah,
like like he was a pie piper.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
It was one of the most unbelievable scenes I've ever
seen in New York walking down one hundred and twenty
fifth Street or you know, Malcolm X Boulevard wherever it was,
and all these people running up at Mike Tyson, not
in the car, not in a buggy, not on a horse,
walking the streets and people running up to him. I
(04:51):
still to this day. But we're talking about, you know,
in the nineties. Okay, But for Mike Tyson to be
this age and to put himself in jeopardy, had to
have this guy humiliate him because there's no win. Mike
Tyson can't win if he beats him. Okay, he's a
real boxer, and Jake Paul's not. So nobody says anything
(05:13):
if he loses. Why he's fifty three fifty How old
is he fifty fifty eight.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
Eight years old? He shouldn't have been in there. Blah
blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
What I want to see, And I'm dead serious, I'm
not even kidding you, not pulling your leg at all.
I want Mike Tyson to get his head knocked off
or knocked out of the ring, because that's what he
would deserve by pulling such a stunt.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
For money.
Speaker 4 (05:34):
I'm dead serious.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Mike Tyson should not be fighting a guy who's thirty
years younger than him.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
It's dangerous.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
I can't believe that the state of Texas is sanctioned
in this fight.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Really, I'm serious. I think it's awful.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
So a couple of things. One, if this way a
serious fight, randomly, say against Canelo or some other fighter,
you know, Bud, you know it's something Crawford, then yeah, okay,
we would be really concerned about his health and all that.
This isn't that number one. They're going eight rounds, but
(06:09):
they are only too many rounds. The gloves are fourteen
ounces versus ten ounces, meaning you ain't gonna fill them
knuckles like you would in a real fight. And also,
this is the issue with where we are right now. See,
there's so much money and things that you and I
weren't accustomed to growing up. Like there's so much money
in clout now, there's so much money in being a YouTuber.
(06:29):
There's so much money. And a kid playing a video
game where other kids watch them play video games and
they're making crazy money. You know a little guy that
my daughters watched, there's a there's a little kid named
Ryan and Little Ryan, who's probably I don't know twelve now,
but he was like four years old, five years old.
All he did was open up gifts and then he
(06:50):
started to get filmed opening the gifts. You know what,
That kid makes thirty million dollars a year, so there's
so much money to be made. And this is the
era in which we are. And I'm like you, Nobody
wanted to see Michael Jordan in a wizard uniform, you know,
nobody wanted to see Joe Montana and the Chief Sir,
you know, so many other things. You didn't want to
see your favorite athlete when another team kind of going
(07:12):
out bad. Willie May's dropping balls, couldn't catch a ball,
certain balls towards the end of his career, a noutfield
that happens, So nobody wants to see how we envisioned
iron Mike Tyson with the toleraando shoulders, snarling and growling
and knocking people out in twenty five seconds. This ain't that.
And I think he is not gonna want to turn
down tens of millions of dollars.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
I don't know what he's getting paid, but tens of
millions of dollars. But everything's not for sale and that
and that's what and I get what you're saying, and
that's where.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
That that's why I respect the Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Okay, they have not taken the money to rename Dodgers Stadium.
That's why I respect the Yankees. They have not tests
the Yankee Stadium.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
It's Yankee.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
It could be American Express Stadium tomorrow, right yeah, for
millions of dollars. The Dodgers could take millions of dollars.
They can do it for sure. Everything can't be for sale.
It's okay to say no, Jake Paul, I'm not gonna
be a part of your circus. I'm not gonna be
I'm not gonna make it Mike Tyson money. This is
to make Jake Paul money. Because Jake Paul knocks Mike
(08:13):
Tyson out. This is gonna continue. He's young, he's gonna
continue to build on this. You're you're making You're legitimizing
a guy who should not be legitimized. But this is
so that's my issue is But here, that's what they
do all the time.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
They try to get you to take money to do something.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
For them, right so now, and not get it listen,
I don't ever want Jake Paul for the rest of
his life to be able to be like man me
and you if he's in a barbershop and he overhears people.
Mike Tyson was the baddest. Now I got Muhammad Ali. No,
I got Mike Tyson, who was the baddest. Who was
the baddest. No, Sugar Ray Robinson was the baddest, and
he can just kind of go, yeah, I knocked Mike
Tyson out. Exactly. Hate the idea of that. I hate
(08:51):
that Mike Tyson is doing this. However, this is the
era we're in. Floyd Mayweather kind of started this after
the whole I want to go fifty and oh so
let me line it up with an easy Chubb and
Connor McGregor. Let me knock him out because he's not
a real fighter. We can only use our hands. Disappointing, right, So,
but this is where it started, right, and then you
start to grow and everybody bought that, and they bought
(09:12):
this when they start buying all the Floyd's other.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Fights, even Floyd.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
If you remember, before that fight, they wore ski masks
because they knew they were robbing everybody.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
Remember the gag. They were like, are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (09:24):
So if people are gonna pay for this, and that's
what I feel like here, That's why I want it
to be bad for Mike Tyson, because Mike Tyson is
to blame for this, not Jake Paul.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Jake Paul's his career. He's an opportunity YouTuber. This is
what he does. The only problem I have with this
is that I would love to see Jay Jake Paul
is having his cake and eating it too. What I
mean like that actually ties into the Brownie conversation. Jake
Paul is able to say no, I'm a real boxer
because some of his fights have actually been sanctioned. Jake
(09:54):
Paul can actually say, no, I knocked out this dude,
No I fight Mak Tyson. I was in the ring
with an all time great, one of the greatest heavyweights
of all time. He can do that, but he can
also not go through the real ranks and have to
fight real boxers who are his age, who are fighting
right now and in their prime and get knocked the
freak out for real. So he is not able to
have his cake and eat it too, and Mike Tyson,
(10:16):
for his sake, he said, you know what, I'm not
turning down ten million dollars to do this. And the
issue is there's a divide in the line. Rob. There's
people like you and I and my age and older
who say, man, I don't want to see him go
out like this. I hate to see the legacy we
say that in real sports. I don't want to see
this player still playing when he's hurt or when he's old.
He can only average. You know, pre game they're saying,
(10:39):
you know what a player always when they tell you
if you can still get paid, why not we see
that guy on the bench, You're like, man, you're thirty seven.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Not in this case where you're playing against somebody who's
so much younger than.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
You, who could hurt you, who could hurt you?
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Things a little bit too.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
What I'm saying like, who could hurt you?
Speaker 3 (10:58):
Can you imagine a Mike Tyson really gets his block
knocked off and have some damage done to him.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Well, I don't think he will get that much damage.
I don't think Jake got all that. And I think
Mice's reflexes will be good enough. Year old man, the
natural muscle memory. He ain't gonna get knocked out like that.
I'm just gonna say. The issue is, and this is
this is applicable to everything. It's the view it it's
the it's the lens in which you're viewing these things.
(11:26):
You and I legacy based. This matters. You mean too much.
People harold you and put you up there with you know,
the Sugar Ray Leonards and the Sugar Ray Robinson's and
the Joe Lewises and the Muhammad Ali's and Mike Tyson's
up there. We view him like that. He is saying,
I'm Mike Tyson, the entrepreneur who has a massive amount
of land out here in California with a bunch of weed,
(11:46):
who has a really big hot box.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
So then what is he doing it for? If he
has money, it's the same. And you want to get
some money, that would look worse.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Hear me out, hear me out, give me, let me money.
If Rick Tyson was down bad money and all in taxes,
looking bad, missing a couple of teeth, and he was
one of our all time grace and our legends, who
went up and down, who went through Hell and America.
You know, everybody hated him. And he's biting out each
your children and then he bounced back and he does
his thing, and he in the movies in the pocket
(12:22):
and he's coming back. Everybody loves him again. And he
looks bad and he looks rough, and he needs money
and he gets knocked out. That would hurt my heart, like, dang,
Mike went out bad. He looks bad. Life's bad. He's
in a good place, right.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
God, put yourself in a spot where you can look
bad when you don't have to.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Because he's Mike the entrepreneur. He's Floyd right now. Floyd
don't have to ever fight again. He's worth a half
a billion dollars, doing very well for himself.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
I think Mike Tyson is making a mistake. And here's
the question eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox?
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Are you buying it? No?
Speaker 4 (12:53):
No, no, not because because people are gonna buy it that.
I got that. Okay, what do you want to see? What?
Like the end result? What are you looking to see?
Speaker 5 (13:03):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (13:04):
See, that's what I need, Jake to take Mike Tyson's
head off. You know, I want other people to stop this.
And if he does that to Mike Tyson, maybe other
people will stop. Maybe you'll stop the NBA players from
getting in the ring thinking at their boxers. Right, we
haven't seen Robinson said, right, but from that he like
(13:26):
disappeared because people think that they're Oh man, I get
in the ring.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
You saw some of the other football players getting club. Yeah,
we had We had a couple of guys.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Yeah, I'm sorright. So that's what I want to see.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
I want to see him get his block knocked off
so we could stop this.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Man.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
I want Mike Tyson to have hopping the Dolorean for
one moment of his life, have a flashback and take
Jake's off so that we can finally say, stop playing
with giants. Stop playing you keep yelling at that tree,
barking up that tree, that she's gonna fall on you.
For all these YouTuber and cloud chasers, the kids who
do stupid pranks on YouTube, You're gonna mess around and
get your head knocked off. And that's what I need
(14:03):
this to be. I don't want it to happen in
the first place. Since it's happening, Mike, go ahead, knock
his head off.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Where are you
on this? Tyson Paul fight coming up?
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Give me a caol eight seven, seven ninety nine, O Fox,
we want to hit from you.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
That's right, and uh it is the odd couple. Rob Parker,
kelvin Washington right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (15:01):
Ago it was about Whiskalifa.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Yes see see yeah, this is back when the Bars

his legacy on the line or is he just making
(15:44):
a bunch of money beating up Jake Paul, what do
you want to you say, what do you want to see?
Speaker 4 (15:49):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (15:50):
I would do market Arizona on the odd couple, Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (15:55):
Mark, what's up? Boys? Hey man?
Speaker 7 (15:58):
I uh well, first of all, Ty's making twenty okay,
go ahead. So he's making twenty okay, So you know,
you know.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
You know, you know what you know, after taxes and
you're paying yours, it's gonna be like height.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
Go ahead.
Speaker 7 (16:12):
But anyway, rich people problems, all right, I look at
this fight a couple different ways. My biggest thing is, Okay,
I'm a fifty year old man, I grew up on
Mike Tyson just probably like you guys did, right, and
when in college we would scrounge any quarters tennies dollars
if we.
Speaker 8 (16:27):
Could order the pay per view.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
This is like taking me back.
Speaker 7 (16:31):
It's like nostalgia. Like I want to see Mike and
knock this dude's block off.
Speaker 5 (16:36):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (16:36):
And I think if he does, I think it adds
to his legacy.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
I don't J Paul's not a fighter. He's not. He's not.
He can't. Mike Tyson's not gonna get where How are
you gonna.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Get I'm gonna tell let me be Mark right here, Mark,
let me go ask your point. I think what Mark
is trying to say is it's like that last Hurrah.
He did it one time for us, you know what
I mean. He did it one time for us oldies
while these young out chasing YouTubers.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
He knocked them out one time.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
For us, so we can always say, yeah, yeah, that's
what I'm talking about. That's what it is.
Speaker 7 (17:07):
Hey, If Iron Mike can rid us of one YouTuber
at the time, I think we're all in a better place.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
It is equalizer walk in Arizona. I just don't think
it's going to happen, but I appreciate it. Thanks for
the call.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
I think he's got one last uppercut mat rob, one
last tiger upper cut. He got one.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
Adrian in Riverside, California. You're on the Odome Square Radio.
Speaker 5 (17:31):
What's up, gentlemen? How are you?
Speaker 4 (17:33):
How are you?
Speaker 5 (17:34):
I'm blessed, Thank you, thank you. I cannot stand this
YouTube stuff. Of course I'm going to tune in because
I want to see Jake Paul getting knocked out set
out again. Some reason. I used to watch some mate
the Mayweather fights. You know, you watch him because you're like,
all right, finally this dude's gonna get beat up and
it doesn't happen, you know, not not not comparing the
two obviously different beasts, but but I just think, like
(17:59):
like the Roy Jones Tyson's fight, Yeah, that was entertaining,
but what did it do for them? They just got
paid and they didn't really do anything like as far
as elevate their legacy, right.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
And what do you want to see, Lewis? It's already happening, Adrian,
So who do you what outcome do you want? It's
already happened.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
I would love to see Mike Tyson mop the floor
with with Jake Paul. Obviously, I'm not a fan of
the YouTube and the boxers, and I want to see
Frank Gored out there boxing Jared Williams. Like, Okay, I
get it, you know, they they have their own lives
outside of their sports. But I just think it tarnishes
And even if Jake Paul does win, I don't think
it's a win because, okay, you beat up an older boxer.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
No, I know, I agree, but I just don't want
to see Mike Tyson go out like that. Let me
say this though, I did get the advanced copy of
the menu from Mike Tyson ahead of the fight on Friday.
Speaker 6 (18:51):
He comes a joke.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
Oh lord, sodium free bacon, DCAF coffee at a chest X.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
Right now, but.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Next week? Yeahs, Charlotte, you're on the odd couple.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
Hey, how's it going, guys? Uh?
Speaker 6 (19:10):
So, I think that it's really just gonna be a
hugging match.
Speaker 8 (19:14):
There's not really gonna be a lot of action.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Are you putting money down? I'm just curious, Joseph, are
you gonna pay for I am not.
Speaker 8 (19:20):
I am not putting money down on this one yet.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
I don't.
Speaker 8 (19:22):
I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Because you're gonna watch it, though you're gonna watch everybody's
gonna watch it if they can watch it for free.
But that's the problem. But you're saying free, but that
still means somebody had to buy it.
Speaker 9 (19:35):
No.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
But but I get you, I could watch it.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
I'm not gonna say if I see a highlight or
something on on television that I can look at them.
Speaker 1 (19:44):
Say highlight, Rob, I say, watching it. You know you're
gonna watch it.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
John, And I'm not watching wings watching John in California,
You'll be sitting there with your rap two d old
ribs watching it.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
What's happening to John?
Speaker 8 (19:59):
Well, I'll tell you you know what. God back nineteen
eighty one, early infancy at ESP and I used to
watch Mike Tyson on Top Rank Boxing every two weeks.
This man was coming on, You're going, how in the
world could anybody do that? And then his response was simple,
because I get more competition sparring than I do against
these clowns. I mean, he was And I don't know
(20:20):
if any of you guys are old enough to remember
that or watch it.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
Yeah, I mean I remember all of that stuff. I
mean I was covering boxing back in those days.
Speaker 8 (20:29):
He put the fear of God. They were afraid that
they lost before they even came out for the first bell.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
Who was it? Was it? What's the guy's name?
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Bruno? I always want to say Frank that last night,
But yes, he knocked that man. That man wasn't even
looking in his eyes. I was he was afraid before that.
He wasn't even look him in his eye? Lot HeLa,
how much did I do that?
Speaker 5 (20:49):
So?
Speaker 4 (20:49):
What do you think is gonna happen?
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Though?
Speaker 3 (20:51):
What do you think is gonna happen? What do you
want to see happened? Jake Paul get his block knocked
off on Mike Tyson.
Speaker 8 (20:57):
I would love Tyson to walk out there and just
drop him in one second and knock this clown out.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
If you're the only person Robho wants to see Mike
get knocked you're the only person I want.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
I want that to happen so that Mike Tyson and
others I get your legacy could stop this because say,
you know what I saw, what happened to Mike Tyson.
Speaker 4 (21:15):
I'm not doing this.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
I'm not giving these these people who can come through
the back door, an opportunity to eat off of my legacy.
That's all I'm talking about legacy. Man, Hey, you know
what Alex and Ryan, you guys are both young. You
know a word I vowed I would never say, and
I think I might have to break it right now
because of Rob.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
I call Cap. Really, Rob, I've never said no, literally,
I've never I vowed to never say it because it
doesn't make sense to me. Rob. I think the first
time I've ever seen is with you. That's Cap. Because
you know what we know about Rob Parker. He loves
some money and he talking big smack right now. But man,
oh man, they come to Rob Parker whatever the whatever
(21:56):
the radio broadcasting journalism equivalent to this is Alex and
they say, Rob, Rob, Rob, just just write one more
article versus young kid. We're gonna go article. They call
them for college twenty million.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
They said, they'll give me ten million dollars if I, uh,
if I'll do a radio.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
Show with somebody Jim Rome. I turn it down.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
I wouldn't do it first of us. There's so much
unpacked right I'm gonna save that Rob just for there's
a well, come, what is up? It's Jim Reman. Wait
a minute, you didn't hear the papers, Yeah, because we
read exactly what am I supposed to say? Mike Tyson first,
(22:38):
Jake Pault Exactly where is this? It's so shots. I'm
gonna say a shot to my man, Travis Rodgers's almost
that's something. You ain't turning out twenty million. That was
cute and a legacy. Mike Tyson's legacy. You ain't turning
Rob Parker turning out twenty million dollars.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
All I'm saying is Mike Tyson should hold onto his
legacy little little better.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
Hope I don't. I'm gonna do a column for column
so twenty eight year old writer versus you every show
article for it for one hundred thousand dollars. You'll take it.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
By and your young god real quick? Yes, do you
understand what I'm talking about? That everything shouldn't be for sale?
And that's why I said I respect the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
Am I right?
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Could they not make a ton of money by naming
that American express field or stadium?
Speaker 4 (23:28):
That's right, Yes, that's the best part. But they have
a history that they believe in.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
The Yankees have never changed their uniforms ever could the
Yankees make money having a black uniform? If they had
like a black n they could make them a good
because zillion dollars, they won't do it. They have the
same uniform that Babe Ruth war. That's what I'm trying
to say. Everything can't be for sale in this world.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
The worst part about it is you're right, but Mike Tything,
this degree, okay, my fifth degrees? All right, we got
the hot seat that's gonna be coming up. Alex Tyshert
is gonna be doing this. He's excited about this too.
I think you just put more gel in his hair.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 1 (24:20):
Coming to live from the tirag dot com studios. It
is now time, Rob four the hot seat. Damn sun,
the current temperature.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
The odd Couple are making it hot in here, damn hot.
Time to sit your butt down in.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Cooking the hot seed.
Speaker 10 (24:37):
That's right, this is the hot seed, the odd couple.
Fox Sports Radio. It's been a while, yesught it back?
Speaker 4 (24:45):
Second week?
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Yeah, beautiful, beautiful remember before a lot of people were
afraid after we did the hot Seat, right, I like
you trying to channel your Regis right now. I like
that Regius killing, I mean Regis Filman.
Speaker 10 (24:55):
I'm giving it a shut h we are putting on
the hot seat today. No, well, he's a legend around
these halls of Fox Sports Radio. He is the technical
director for The Odd Couple and the Jason Smith Show
with My Carmon.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Never missed that show.
Speaker 10 (25:13):
He is Alex teishirt, Alex, Welcome to the hot Seat.
Speaker 9 (25:18):
So I just want to let you know I plan
to set multiple records here on this hot seat with
the both of you, and I'll tell you what they
are after I beat you.
Speaker 6 (25:25):
How does that sound a sound?
Speaker 1 (25:27):
Pretty? God? Let me get over my head. Nineteen eighty
eight era Mike.
Speaker 6 (25:31):
Well, I'll tell you this. It ain't gonna be Jake
Paul on this side.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
So oh all right, buster Douglas, let's go.
Speaker 10 (25:38):
First off, Alex's big take Number one. Michael Jordan is
not n ot, not a top three NBA player of
all time, Alex, take it away.
Speaker 9 (25:51):
Let me tell you something, guys, sports is a very
prestigious and divine thing that we all watch in love, right.
But Rob Parker can agree with me on this one thing.
Is Tom Brady the greatest football player of all time?
Quick question, Rob, Yes or no?
Speaker 5 (26:04):
No?
Speaker 6 (26:04):
Thank you?
Speaker 9 (26:05):
Do you know why Michael Jordan also is in a
top three NBA player of all time. He was playing
against plumbers, teachers, and also people who were delivery drivers
because the NBA could not afford talent at this time.
They were eating Subway probably Carls Junior and all these
other low budget things where he would go before a game,
smoke cigarettes and play poker and sleep two hours and
(26:26):
still drop sixty on people. And you want to sit
here and tell me he's a top three player of
all time. First off, I'll end it right here.
Speaker 6 (26:33):
Good joke.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
Of course he's the top three. He's the number one
player of all time.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
And your ages are a little mixed up your time
frame because those players weren't plumbers and having second jobs.
Those were in the nineties when players made big money
and were able to play. And Michael Jordan dominated to
go six to zero in the NBA Finals, win all
six MVPs during that run. He was an incredible player,
(27:02):
and it wasn't just the rings.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
He led the league in scoring ten years.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
In a row.
Speaker 9 (27:07):
Rob, I'm so glad you brought all those points. So
because what other sports did Michael Jordan go and play
halfway through his career? Oh, Baseball White Sox. How good
was he on that team? Terrible? I think it was
a two H two hitting rage or whatever he had.
You know why he sucked at that because he was
on a team that showed his true athletic ability. If
he didn't have Scottie Pippen or again plumbers, electricians and
people who don't know how to eat correctly, I promise
(27:28):
you he would have not only won one championship, nobody
would know his name. He was a created figure playing
against some of the worst competition at the time. And
you know why I say that, There's people above him
playing now, Kevin Durant, Lebron James, Steph Curry. I could
go on and on the level of competition and type
of influx these people are consuming.
Speaker 6 (27:47):
On just a nutritional factor, Steph shooting from.
Speaker 9 (27:49):
Half court, this guy couldn't even make it past the
freaking three point line.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
First of all, we're not gonna have you sit around
here in disrespect. Magic Burn, Isaiah Thomas doctor Jayden, you
want to go to the all their grade players he
had to play with. That's number one. Number two. Sometimes
it comes around with God just places somebody who was
a freak of nature in their time and in their era,
and that was Michael Jordan. Faster than everybody, strong and
everybody can jump through the air, dag near. We had
to study and to see if he can fly. Matter
(28:16):
of fact, he had a VHS Yes, a VCRR movie
called Come Fly with Me, because the man was half human,
half amazing. He can fly through the air. And not
only that, you have to add in the mystique, the
long shorts, the socks, the baldhead, the tongue out, the sneakers.
He was more than that. He was everything. And matter
of fact, you probably got a pair of George on
(28:37):
your feet right now.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
I don't actually how many pairs did I buy you?
Speaker 1 (28:40):
Three? All right? Yeah, that's with that being said. You
wear you're wearing the you ain't wearing a top twenty
player shoes.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
You're wearing the goats to wear in the el today
on that one.
Speaker 10 (28:50):
Yeahs As the judge of the hot seat, I do
have to be the voice of the people.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
So Robin Kelvin w Yes, sorry, but I'll tell you what, sir, Alex.
That was impressive.
Speaker 9 (29:01):
I'm saying that was impressive. Even get to the factor
that they had to make a movie called Space Jam
to make you believe he's good.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
That's for another night or too far. See just what
I take back, money was a good right? Next? I
respect that.
Speaker 10 (29:12):
Eventually Alex started arguing that every NBA player was bad,
exactly that a single one was good. Next up, sports
are better watched on TV, not live in person, says Alex. Alex,
take it, okay, So let's talk about parking, gentlemen.
Speaker 9 (29:29):
You know how much it costs to go to a
RAMS game this year? One hundred dollars. Do you know
how much minimum wages even in California twenty dollars. That's
a day pay to go to a game. Not to mention,
football is pause after pause after I swear I could
have fell asleep between the second and third down that
a team was playing when I went to watch the Patriots.
My problem with live sporting events is this simple factor.
(29:50):
It's not made for an audience anymore. It's made for sponsorships.
It's made for consumption of all these consumers that are
trying to make you believe in this game. But you
know what's the best thing to do, guys sitting on
your counting. As soon as the game's over, you go
do whatever you want, make whatever you want, eat whatever
you want, and guess the best part. You can have
an eighty inch thing in your room, complete silence, if
you want to have your hand in your pants like
(30:10):
Al Bundy and enjoy the game the best way.
Speaker 11 (30:13):
Your way by was a legend that that sounds good,
but there's nothing like the real thing.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
Baby.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
I'm telling you as a sports writer who's been in
the games for almost forty years. I was there when
Freddie Freeman was head to walk off Grand Slam, and
there's no feeling television can never ever, ever, I don't
care how big it is, how a surround sound can
ever give you that feeling of a crowd, everybody jumping
(30:47):
in in their seats, and what a feeling of electricity
that goes through a building. When Bill Buckner missed that
ground ball in the World Series in eighty six, I
was there. Shay Stadium shook from side to side. I'll
never ever forget those moments ever.
Speaker 9 (31:06):
You know what Also, they'll never forget Rob waiting two
hours to get out of Dodger Stadium to watch Freddie
Freeman hit something and lose the game too. Shout out
to Dodgers. I'm just telling you this simple factor, Rob.
The future is time consumption, and sports even know that.
What did they add to a pitching clock?
Speaker 4 (31:20):
Right Rob?
Speaker 9 (31:20):
Because time is so efficient, kids are stuck on their phones.
I'll tell you this, Rob. The future is youth. The
future is consumption of social media. The future is on
your television and phone. Sports knows this. That's why they're
fine tailoring it. And you're right, Rob. The exploration in
front of a live audience is amazing. But you know
it's even better, Rob again, eating your Buffalo wings your
way on your couch and then writting an MLB bro
(31:43):
article after and not wasting any time.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
So let's go down the checklist. NBA better in person.
You're there. You get to hear you hear the shoes,
you get to hear the trash talk, and you get
to see dag Kevin Duran is way taller than I thought.
NBA is much better in person. MLB get to see
the beauty of Dodger Stadium. We get to see it.
You get to get a Dodger dog, be out there
with the fans. I love La is nothing like him boxing.
(32:10):
If you've ever been to a boxing bout let me
tell you. You think those hits hurt on TV, Get
there in person and see another man take a shot
to the hola. You get to see it. Daggety's trying
to right Rob about the NFL. I gotta give him this.
It is too expensive. Just no, man, it's one hundred dollars.
I can't lie to the people. One hundred dollars to
(32:30):
get in twenty dollars for the beer. You don't have
no kids. If they want a jersey, it's two thousand
dollars just to go to an NFL game. Daggetty's right.
The screen is even wide, perfect like a football field.
You have to agree, just what wait for?
Speaker 9 (32:45):
No line for the bathroom, and there's toilet paper for
the seat for you at home too.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
I have a dream that he was wrong, but he
was actually right, Rob Parker. I can't give it. I'll
giveing that most sports, yes, but football it is better
at home. I can't leat all right.
Speaker 10 (32:56):
As the judge of this round, Originally I was going
to give it to Alex, but then the Dodger became
so integral to your guys' this debate that I was
going to give it to you guys, but then Kelvin.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
That's on your boy, that's on your boy. I can't.
I can't lie with people.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
You've been to big games, man, ain't nothing like you.
Speaker 6 (33:13):
Guess what, Rob?
Speaker 9 (33:13):
I can't wait to watch Mike Tyson fall over himself
and an influencer sit there and takes selfie.
Speaker 10 (33:18):
I say a box side, I said boxing, not a
circuit right here? Last one here really quickly? Yep, for
all the marbles. Alex says clothing should be optional. Alex, go,
I'll tell you why was that a hot springs over
the weekend?
Speaker 6 (33:29):
Glorious?
Speaker 9 (33:30):
You want to know what type of people are there?
Beautiful people? We live in LA. What are the type
of people we like out here? Beautiful people. I'm paying
good money. I want to see beautiful people. Do you
know what we keep people?
Speaker 6 (33:38):
Honest?
Speaker 9 (33:39):
Fully? Exposure? Do you know what happened during COVID cover
people's mouths? People looked better all of a sudden. All
I'm saying is clothing optional. Don't get me started on
how bad clothing is for you if it's not cotton,
by the.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
Way, absolutely not.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Unfortunately, everybody's not beautiful people, and I don't want to see.
I've been to the beaches of Brazil women in uh
uh thong bathing suits that don't deserve to be wearing
tom Bega suit and it is not appetizing. We need sheets, blankets,
whatever we could come.
Speaker 9 (34:11):
I'll just add we do need some snowsuits. I'll just
say this again. Accountability. What is the one thing people
need to do the most in this life? Be accountable?
So what do we do most of the time here?
We flex the people with the most money, don't show
it off the least, always show it off. If everybody
had the option of wearing clothing, guess what, it's all
out there, nothing to hide and nothing to fear. You
(34:31):
know exactly what's in front of you. And also it
creates more of a sensibility to know somebody for more
than their body because you're used to seeing it. Now,
what do we need as people in sports? Rob authenticity?
That's what we'll get by naked people walking around.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
First of god, you're gonna have me walking around here
like Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, because this is some things
I ain't trying to see. It's some things I ain't
trying to see. Let's start there. Secondly, you have also
taken away you know, for you, you're not you're in
a little relationship. But let's say you're all single again.
The thrill of getting the and finding an undressed and
then yeah, we get to see everything, and then not
only I get to see it, he get to see it,
(35:06):
They get to see it. You have lost the element
of surprise because you already know what's going on again.
I mean we're walking around like Stevie Water.
Speaker 6 (35:14):
Go to a gym. You see everything already doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (35:16):
That's facts.
Speaker 10 (35:16):
Okay, I'll close this out, Alex. I want to give
you a win, but as the person who's currently sitting
next to you, and I have to say that clothing
is not.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
Get back VALI, yes, Scott, your weekend host, hit me up, man,
I ain't gonna lie to you. You you kind of trying
to bring it on that.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
No one gotta go might be pushed to the lot
nor enough to many.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
Yeah, we might have to do that when once feaking
I gotta go, we gotta go. It's the Oka, Rob Parker,
Kevin Wahington, Fox Sports Radio.

hosting the Grizzlies. Yes, where are you on the Lakers?
I know it's only they're six and four. They've won
all five games at home.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
They're trying to go six and zero at home, but
they had that disastrous one and four road trip. All
you trying to do is play yeah fifty percent.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (36:50):
Go two and three or three and two or something
like that on the road.
Speaker 4 (36:55):
Where are you on there is? It's still too early
because I don't have a game.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
I don't feel like things have changed that dramatically some
pe funny you mentioned.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
That last point. I think they are gonna be similar
to the last two seasons, meaning just good enough to
be a you know, a six seed, seven seed, eight seed,
obviously playing and all that. Yeah. The biggest difference, though,
I will admit, what I do like is we'd all
been screaming this for the last few seasons, but we're
finally starting to see. I love that they're featuring Anthony Davis,
(37:28):
and we'd all been screening oh man Lebron as great
as he is, you know, but right now he should
have started training exactly, you should start transitioning to Anthony Davis.
And I like that JJ Reddick has him looking like
top three to four player in the league right now.
He's averaging thirty to a game and like twelve rebounds.
He's balling out of control. So that is to me
a great sign. Because he played seventy something games last year,
(37:49):
the most he played in years. Uh, he looks healthy
this year. I mean he's getting banged up every now
and again. But if he can stay healthy like he
was good last year. Let me phrase, if he's healthy
like he was last year, for the most part, he's
playing as well on both ends of the floor. I
like that. So that's a big takeaways. I like that,
and I like that connect looks like he's gonna keep
getting better and better throughout the season.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
Yeah, I just I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
I don't see it as like, oh my gosh, like
like they're going to make this run and they really,
they are just so many other better teams in the West.
I just don't I look at them as at the
bottom half.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
Now. That the thing I felt about the last two seasons,
which is why they made it to the Western CONWEG
Finals two seasons ago. Once you get into a playoff situation,
except for Denner, because that just kind of has their kryptonite.
I still think that two man game of Lebron Anthony
Davis deadly. I just think that's you know what, there's
some other good teams that we saw last night in
the NBA. We'll talk about an X Fox Sports Radio
