You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
Man oh Man our number two on a Magic City Monday,
as we celebrate Steve de Seger's birthday as well. Here
on The Odd Couple, Rob parkerkelvin Washington, and we're broadcast
alive from the tire rak dot Com studios tirak dot com.
(00:47):
We'll help you get the inn unmet selection, fast free shipping,
free roadhazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers tire
rach dot com the way tire buying should be. I
don't forget Todd Furman, the Vegas Insider. He joined us
in about twenty eight minutes. Also, we're gonna talk a
(01:08):
little bit about the Masters and Rory winning the Grand
Slam career Grand Slam, right, yep, we'll do that coming
up this hour and about to move your needle at all.
But first let's talk NBA, and we already talked about
a little bit earlier.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
Phoenix. There's a change a coach. Yeah, Mike Budenholzer.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Who out won a championship with the Bucks when people
told Giannis to leave Milwaukee that they couldn't win there,
and he won, got a nice deal, ten fifty million dollars,
five year deal with the Suns.
Speaker 5 (01:44):
One year they.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Start eight and one and they don't make the playoffs.
It's easy to blame the coach. And I've always said this.
Coaches should get blame as well, because when they win,
guess what. When he won, what happened in Milwaukee, he
got credit. Oh yeah, So when you don't win and
you got the highest payroll in the league and you
got these great players and you lose, they should get
(02:07):
blamed too.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
But in this case, it's about who do you really
blame for this? Is it? Excuse me?
Speaker 6 (02:20):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (02:21):
You know what's coming?
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Oh good, Alex is out where I'm telling them God.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
And the best part about it is to build up Elizah,
who do you playing is?
Speaker 7 (02:33):
It is an immediate look up to make sure Alex isn't.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
That sorry about that? Rob Okay, No, when you when
you look at it. Here's the thing, right, is it
Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Mike Bundhauser where we just talked
about the coach.
Speaker 5 (02:59):
Or is it older ship and management those people?
Speaker 4 (03:05):
And I can take a look at it, and you
know what, I think, it's ownership and management more to
blame who they go out and get and spend the
money for somethingou Kevin Durant. No, you're saying nobody, No
from from the from Washington. Bradley Beal, of course, Bradley Beale. Yeah,
(03:31):
bad contract, bad player, three players doing the same thing.
Speaker 5 (03:38):
You're not surprised that they're not good, are you?
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Nope? Seriously No. I didn't like them the initial last year, right,
and everybody.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Thought, well it was because of this or that or no, no, no, no,
it doesn't work.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
It didn't work.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
Devin Booker went to the finals a couple of years
before without Durant.
Speaker 5 (03:56):
People thought, well, you had Durant whatever. And Durant, we
know what.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Kind of player he is, We've seen him perform in
the postseason. But Kelvin, this just doesn't work. This is ownership.
They keep making the wrong mistakes. Kevin Durant's not the
same player.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
I got it. I'm gonna blame him for this. He
actually was playing great this year.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
All he bought I mean on statistically, he played very well.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
My blame is on James Jones, who is now vice
president of Basketball Operations and was formerly you know, tied
in with the GM as well. And it's ownership they're
and they're in the new Ishaba. He's coming in there ambitious,
I'm gonna buy up everything. I want to win every year.
It's like, well, hold on, you got to learn the
league first. You just got in understand, you helped raise
(04:43):
a real estate company in Michigan. You did your thing,
and you're ambitious, and that's kind of his whole thing.
He's you know, he was that guy who never really
played with Tom Izzoh and he's the the ro Rod
Rudy kind of guy.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
But you got to learn the business.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
And just signing anybody just because they can shoot does
not equate to building a good team. Just sign somebody
because they put up twenty something in the game doesn't
mean it's a good thing.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Good move.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
You got one hundred and fifty million dollars to three
guys who essentially is one hundred and fifty million dollars
on one guy because it's the same guy. SEV fifteen
million per player, Devin Booker, Bradley Bil, Kevin Durant.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
But basically, you got one guy.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
They all need the ball in their hands. They're not
great assistment, they're not great defenders. Kevin Durant had some
good years at his career, Bradley Bil tries, and Devin
Booker tries. But you can't just say, hey, I'm gonna
be this lockdown defender and rebounder.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Neither none of them are.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Again, guys, who can you say, I'm gonna get you
fifteen boards tonight and or I'm just gonna be diving
the floor, hustle guy. That's not their makeup. Their makeup
is I'm a bucket getter. I don't know how to
necessarily do much more than that, especially Bradley Bial. And
you also signed Bradley Bial knowing he had the Larry
Bird and you couldn't the trade claus so you would
sign him, which are jammed up, Satan Crevin Durant.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Right, And that's what jammed them up when they needed
to make a move, and Bradley Bill sitting there going
no I'm staying here.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Give me my fifty mil out here in the sun,
and I'm in the valley and I'm enjoying this hot
weather and I ain't budget. Me and my agent worked
hard to have a no trade clause in my deal,
and I'm gonna exercise it.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
And people know he's only one of two players. Yep, Lebron,
you can buy.
Speaker 5 (06:17):
What in the world is Bradley Beal doing with a
with a no trade claw?
Speaker 1 (06:21):
I mean, did the Washington Wizards win a couple of rings?
I missed because he has one. And you have to
have foresight. You have to be saying, we're bringing in
Bradley Beal with Devin Booker and Kevin Ring What if
this doesn't work, what if we need to trade a guy. Oh,
he's got this no trade clause. You have to have
seen that. And that's why I'm blaming management in the
front office because again you're putting the same guys together.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
It's not working. You already see that, and.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Then you're bringing a guy with a no trade clause
where you're now don't have it out so that when
you try to trade Kevin Durant and it backfires, then
you gotta bring Kevin Durant and eat the you know,
swallow the crow, eat the crow, like oops up, all right,
come on back, Sorry.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
We can't trade you. And now he's got to be
there the whole sign of the rest of the season.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Like, man, I know these fools wanted to get rid
of me, so I absolutely blame them. You put guys together,
and you can only be who you are, right, Devin
Booker tried. He's been a great teammate, He's been a
great guy vocally, and he hasn't said anything. He hasn't,
you know, talk bad about the organization, talk bad about
Kevin Durandon, Bradley Beeal.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
He tried to put it all together, and he's gotta
feel a little bit.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Hey, man, this is the only home I known, This
is my team, and you guys are ruining this rob
Devin Booker's gotta feel like two three years ago, I
was in the NBA finals. What the heck went wrong?
I was in the NBA Finals thinking we come. We
got to come right back, baby, bounce back. Win it
this year because you lost to Giannis. But that's all right,
it was our first go at it. Now they're the
(07:47):
most disappointing team in the NBA and they out here
looking like Dolly Parton, if you know what I mean,
little top heavy right now, you don't have anybody else
on the bench the bit Look at the man, when
you look at play with just three people, when you
look at this roster, man, I mean, my goodness, this
is supposed to compete in the Western Conference. I mean,
he's got some guys on this I didn't even know
(08:07):
what's still live in the NBA. And so I'm completely
disappointed in them again. And yes, maybe the players have
to take a brunt of this for sure, for not
trying to find a way to make it work, for
not finding a way to say, all right, what can
I absolutely do differently to something bring something to this team.
But you are who you are, and you bringing the
same guy to do the same thing. And I have
to pay one hundred and fifty million of them, and
(08:28):
that means I can't have anybody else really on the
bench that's of great value.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
And they don't have an identity. This is what you get.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
I agree, it's hard for me to look at this
and Kevin the red booker, they did what they do,
you know what I mean, Like they did what they do.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
It's just the team doesn't work. But what would you do?
Speaker 4 (08:49):
I mean, if you're now you're in this situation, go ahead,
you didn't fire the coach.
Speaker 5 (08:53):
Firing the coach is not going to be enough. Is
not going to be enough.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
I'm not an escapegal goal.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
It's easy to fire him and right, and has he
did a great job and all that? No, we got that.
No one's saying, oh my god, I can't believe that
bud Nasa got fired.
Speaker 6 (09:11):
Dude.
Speaker 4 (09:11):
They were awful and they didn't get it done. So
you know, this is where we are. But the thing is,
what are you doing here? And and uh is it
Kevin Durant?
Speaker 5 (09:28):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Is it?
Speaker 5 (09:28):
Maybe not Devin Booker. I don't. I don't is Devin
Booker here? No matter what you know what I mean?
Speaker 8 (09:33):
Or do?
Speaker 4 (09:33):
You have to start to think about what should happen
with this team? You think of the Sun's I don't.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
First thing I gotta do is I'm on the phone
with Bradley Beal. Look, man, I know you don't have
a trade clause. I understand no trade clause and I
understand that, and you might be happy here, but look
what if I work with you. What if I said
give me two three teams, You're like, hey, man, I
don't want to leave. But if I'm gonna leave, I'll
go here, here, and here, and let me get on
the phone with those two or three teams and start
working out something. Because you're not I get it rid
(10:00):
of Devin Booker. Right, that's a guy and can give
you twenty five to thirty a night. He has been
no issues, loved in the community. Like, I'm not getting
rid of Devin Booker. Kevin Durant. I don't want to
get rid of. I mean I tried to, but I
mean if I've stuck with him or Bradley Bill, so
be it. If him over Bradley Bill, but that's who
I'm trying to work with. Come on, Bradley, but where
you want to go?
Speaker 4 (10:19):
But if he didn't want to go when when that
chance came? Now you think he's gonna give.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
It because maybe he thought in the back of his
mind were better than this. We can turn around. I
got a Hall of Famer and Kevin Durant. I got
a potential Hall of Famer in Devin Booker. Myself, I'm
really good. We can figure this thing out. Maybe he
saw toxic it was maybe the locker room was bad,
maybe they didn't really mess with each other, and maybe
his wife. You know, I can't, hey man, let's just
go ahead and move on, Pops, come on baby, let's
just move on home. Let's just go somewhere else. But
(10:45):
I have to explore that because that's not a problem.
Is who wants to pay Bradley Bill fifty one million dollars?
Fifty million dollars? But I have to try to explore that,
you know what I mean. And that's the first thing.
And after that, maybe we work out something with Kevin Durant.
But they're stuck in a position where they signed these guys.
And again that's why I put so much on them.
(11:05):
You brought in a guy who does the same guy
as Devin Booker and Bradley beal less talented, but you
brought him in and you knew he had a no
trade clause.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Shame on you.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine. And where are
we on this? Who's the blame? Maybe we're being too
soft on the players. Is it Kevin Durant that's possible?
Is it Devin Booker. Maybe Devin Bookers not pulling his
weight on where he should be. Is it ownership management?
You know, the front office or the ownership? What is
(11:36):
wrong with the Phoenix Suns to start the season eight
and one and to end up out of the clouds? Yeah,
and they were awful at the end. Yeah, we're getting
they were getting rolled every night. It was shocking at
how bad they were eight seven, seven ninety nine. On Fox,

And Tiger told me to meet him out in the

Speaker 2 (13:53):
Oh boy, No I did not go.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Whoa did I go?
Speaker 5 (13:57):
But anyway, food was really good. Was was uh steak,
lamp chops, wings, and they have also uh do you
what do you call it?
Speaker 4 (14:07):
The h braised lamb? Oh yeah, lamb in the tacos.
Oh oh yeah, it was really good. Wait wait, wait,
I'm so proud of you. You had a taco.
Speaker 5 (14:20):
No I did not I ate the meat out of it.
Come on, man, you know I was.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
I was about to say, look at my boy growing up.
You know, I got my boy growing up.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
No, I did not eat the man said, can I
get the braised beef tacos without the tacos?
Speaker 5 (14:33):
Exactly?
Speaker 10 (14:34):
You know it?
Speaker 4 (14:35):
So yeah, it was great. It was really a really
good time. And they have you could go and play,
uh you know, do the simulated golf. You know they
got that, and they got bowling.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Was and all that.
Speaker 5 (14:47):
Yeah, we're over near there, all right?
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Eight seven seven, good ninety nine on Fox? Who got
Courtney in Illinois? You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
What's up? Courtney?
Speaker 6 (14:58):
Hey, a couple of the show as all.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
Thank you, buddy.
Speaker 11 (15:02):
This might be a little bit different, but I would
blow the whole team up. And if that means I
got to get rid of Devin Booker, I'm getting read
Devin Booker. If I can trade him to the Wizard
for a number one pick or a number two pick,
I'm doing that because it's just not working. They don't
have any alpha males in that locker room. That's why
it doesn't work. You can bring in Kevin Durant, but
he only fits when when there's other good pieces around him.
(15:24):
He's not an alpha. He's not He's not going to
build that locker room up. And that's what they're missing.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
It's hard to argue with that.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
It's hard to argue even and and you know what,
if it's time to move on from Devin Booker and
then you can get a number one pick, I'm not
against that.
Speaker 5 (15:39):
I think Courtney, I think that that's a legit call.
Thanks for the call. We appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
Mark in Sacramento, I got our NBA guy. Mark, you're
on the odd couple of Fox Sports. Ready, how you doing?
Speaker 6 (15:50):
What's going on? Roby mister Washington? Now you do it, man.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
What's up?
Speaker 11 (15:53):
Mark?
Speaker 6 (15:54):
Hanging in there? Hey, Rob, I think we were seeing here,
real quick, I look at it a different way. I
think we're seeing it is the death of the Big
three era. I think this big. I think they didn't
build the proper team around those Big three, and for
the last two years you've seen it. They've been relying
on these three guys. When one of them is not there,
one of them is hurt, the other the rest of
their team's just an average team. And you're seeing an evolution,
(16:15):
and especially in the West, of crafting young players and
then adding one or two stars. You're starting to see
that pattern now. I think we're seeing the death of
the Big three. I think the Phoenix Suns are probably
the last, uh example you're gonna see that you getting
away to that big three thing, and I think you're
seeing right now with the Phoenix Suns. I think that's
the problem.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Hold up, Hey up, Mark, great point.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
I mean you're starting to see more of a two
you know, Luca and Lebron, and in our series you
see Jalen, Jaylen Brown, Jason and a couple other play
whether it be port Yes, go.
Speaker 6 (16:48):
Ahead, real quick. I wanted to you know, me and
young players. And I've always come with young players and
they've seen them be you know, you've seen them grow
up from that man to SGA. You know, I've always
been able to put them up there. And I took
about Jamalen Green. I think he's now growing up. There's
one other player. I meant to him last year and
you're now seeing this year. I think he's I think
he's a different athlete. Amn Thompson is and Rob his
(17:13):
brother is in Detroit. Something's in the DNA of that family.
And I'd be going to see if they got some
more brothers and sisters, different different kids.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
I'm in. I'm in Thompson is going to be a
star in two years.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
Mark, thank you. Yep, boy good he good.
Speaker 4 (17:30):
Scott in North Carolina. I was in North Cacilaca. You're
on the couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Scott.
Speaker 12 (17:37):
Good Man?
Speaker 6 (17:37):
How y'all doing good?
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Appreciate you.
Speaker 11 (17:41):
Yes, I gotta blame the most part of management. But
secondly I blame it on Devin Booker. I mean, he
was supposed to be the next coming guy. He went
to the finals. They was getting talented add to him
and he's just been disappointed.
Speaker 6 (17:55):
In my opinion.
Speaker 5 (17:55):
Do you remember when he was supposed to be Kobe?
You remember that after remember that?
Speaker 11 (18:00):
Yeah, comparing to Kobe, I think Anthony ed works better.
I think Donovan miss Who's better. I think Jalen Brown's better.
I mean, he's just not getting it done.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Let me let me ask you this, Scott, let me
ask you this.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Do you think he was trying to assimilate, meaning if
this was his team, no Kevin Durant, maybe some other
good players, but not a KD not a Bill What do.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
We have seen more from him?
Speaker 6 (18:23):
Possibly?
Speaker 11 (18:24):
Yeah, But I mean go back to the finals run.
It was like Chris Paul and a bunch of young
guys all around. Chris Paul is kind of leading the torch.
I just don't see it in Devin book. He's not
really exposed to he doesn't he's a suitor, but he's
not really a great shooter. I mean, he was supposed
to be the next up and coming guy.
Speaker 6 (18:43):
I just don't see it all.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
I appreciate you, man, Thank you.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
Scott.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
Jason in California A you're on the eye couple of
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (18:51):
What's up, Jason?
Speaker 6 (18:53):
How are you I'm good. How y'all doing doing good?
Speaker 4 (18:58):
Wait a minute second, Steve, did the Yankees just hit
four home runs descending?
Speaker 5 (19:03):
Or is it three descending?
Speaker 2 (19:05):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
Every time I look up, I keep thinking it's a
repeat because like somebody they need to get the bull
that the Royals need to get the bullpen going. Yeah,
it's four toll in the game, but three descending. Okay,
go ahead, Sorry about that time.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
I look up.
Speaker 8 (19:18):
That's all right. I gotta blame this all on management.
They they the reason they made the Finals in the
first place is because they had a deep team, and
then they traded all their depth and their futures ye
to get Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal with that horrible
no trade clause. They've done this to themselves. It's the
same thing Brooklyn did when they trade for Kevin Durant.
(19:38):
They gave away all their debt.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Good point, just.
Speaker 8 (19:40):
Kevin Durant and some and some scrubs until they got
hardened and Kyrie and they couldn't really do much because
they couldn't stay healthy.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
Right, you know what we're learning A good point, Jason,
Jason and Rob dec He's a cherry on top. You
get what I mean, Like, if you got the Warriors,
seems great, great bringing a KD and it works, but
you can't bring him in and be like, oh, save us,
you know, make us better if you're not championship caliber,
because it really hasn't working.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
Jones worked Jones in Seattle. You're on the couple of
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 10 (20:11):
What's up, Jones, good fellows, good good shots. I'm gonna
go with all the above, but We're gonna start off
with Kevin Durant because what has he done? What has
he done since he left gold Golden State.
Speaker 6 (20:24):
He hasn't done nothing. He got no leadership. Uh, all
these teams they bringing Kevin Durant, but he don't get
him to the top, you know. And this is not
concerned you know, because.
Speaker 4 (20:37):
He ain't he I disagree with that. It might be
a little too far with the top. You might two
finals m vps. I mean all the points he scored.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
A little far, but no, no, no, he was, he was.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
Everybody has somebody Jones, because then I can say Kobe
ain't top something exactly with the most dominant firs in
the shock, I hear what you're saying that he's been
disapp You.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
Can't discount Kevin Durant. I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
And here's the other thing too, even in Brooklyn with
the other two guys hurt, if he don't step on
that line, they might not make it.
Speaker 5 (21:08):
The Bucks might not have won that champion. They would
have lost that game right there.
Speaker 4 (21:11):
He made the shot at the end of the game,
but its foot was on the line, and instead of
it being a two or three, it was a two when.
Speaker 5 (21:17):
They lost an over.
Speaker 6 (21:20):
With the I hear what you say about thing. Never
raised anybody game up. And that's my thing when I
when I looked at an all pro that dude. You
know we've seen it with Lebron. You know we've seen
it with Curry. You know I don't see what Kevin Durant.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Get your point. Listen, I'm not gonna argue too much
what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Thanks for the call, and squeeze one more in Thank you,
Buddy Drew in New Jersey.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
You're on the couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
What's up, Drew?
Speaker 12 (21:49):
Hey, guys, I'm gonna get right into it. I think
that this fall is definitely on GM right. So if
you look look around in the league, you had the
Raptors coach who somehow keeps his job. You have Charlotte
coach who keeps his job, but you're firing off all
these championship winning coaches that get fired. And then you
(22:11):
have in Portland you have them giving an extension to
Kocha didn't make the playoffs. It's been every three years.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
Right.
Speaker 12 (22:17):
Additionally, I think we're gonna look back at this and say,
was Chris Paul perhaps the most valuable player never went
to never win an NBA championship.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
That's a very valid point.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
They were two to oh and everybody was ready to
crown them and then it fell apart.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
Yeah, but I get what you say.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
Every franchise he goes to has gotten better every time
we even write them out, like everybody thought that was
a rap on that season he brought. He made them better,
made the Rockets better. He won't work with Russell Westbrook.
Speaker 12 (22:47):
He Okay, see they didn't make the playoffs. Remember the
next year when SGA became like a twenty six per
game score.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
Before he went to the Clippers, we didn't even know
the Clippers. So I totally get your point. All right,
Thank you, Drew, Thanks for the call. Appreciate it. Hey,
we got Todd Furman getting ready to join us here,
Vegas Insider. We talk some little football action. Got more
coming up with an NBA right, NBA two NBA playoffs. Yeah,
and right now it's the birthday boy, Steve.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
This sacred.
Speaker 9 (23:14):

Then saturday about seven million ON cbs and yesterday's final

Viewers and when we got to the one whole, playoff
some people were tuning in at seven Pm eastern time
(25:48):

estimating close to twenty million people just for that quarter
hour at seven Pm eastern time last night for the,
playoffs But sunday's final. Round, overall they're calling at the
most watched golf telecast in seven years on any.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Network back to, you, MAN i.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Mean you know what they'll take, it, well, History steve
will forget all the. Context we'll just know look at
the number we. Had don't worry about.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
It they do.
Speaker 9 (26:16):
Do the number is a little bit different now they
have the out of home viewing in all the. Markets
they didn't used to have. That so when you're comparing
from a decade, ago it's not quite apples to, apples
but it was, Big.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Steve people are nuanced. Anymore people aren't contextualizing. Things WHY
i am? Here that's why you are, Here.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
DOING i am doing well.
Speaker 13 (26:43):
This monday, afternoon. Gentlemen hopefully you boys are as.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
Well oh, YES i want to get into SOME nba playoff.
Stuff who are people rolling their money? With are they
all on The lakers and they think The lakers going
to win the? Championship we'll get to the. Final what's
the big? Bet who's putting the most money on what?
Speaker 5 (27:03):
Team The?
Speaker 13 (27:04):
Lakers no, Doubt rob have generated all sorts of. Buzz
once you acquire a player the caliber Of Luka. Doncick
it doesn't matter who else was on That lakers, roster
and if they're only able to go three, deep that
was a team that saw their odds strength considerably after that.
Trade could have The lakers right around forty or fifty
to one to win THE nba title going into that.
Deal they now find themselves at the majority of the
(27:26):
national sports books the fourth, favorite behind what i'll call
The Big three in The Oklahoma City, Thunder Boston, celtics
And Cleveland. Cavaliers and that's where things start to get
a little bit more interesting if you believe in we'll
call it A cinderella story for a lack of a better,
term whether it's The knicks coming out of The east
or hoping that there are some teams in The Western,
conference and whether it be The, clippers The, timberwolves or
(27:46):
The nuggets with a championship pedigree to be able to
put a little bit of money up and have a
potential windfall there if any of those teams find a
higher ceiling during the. Postseason so you just picked.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
My interest when you, Said, okay, see people are betting.
MONEY i MEAN i, should, NO i, mean but sometimes
they don't buy into. It you know WHAT i, Mean
no matter what their record, IS i give you What i'm.
Saying so people are putting money down ON okc.
Speaker 13 (28:14):
The thunder right now a short favorite given the path
that they, have at least from a number, standpoint that
appears to be a little bit more straightforward than what
The Eastern conference finals would look like if The seeds
hold between The celtics And. Calves But Oklahoma city odds
on now to win The Western conference and put things in,
perspective guys odds makers giving them just shy of a
(28:35):
sixty percent probability to come out of The west when
you look at their number compared to The, Lakers, warriors
And nuggets that are all hanging around at prices at
six to one or. Greater There so everything in front
of The thunder given the remarkable regular season we've seen from,
them the myriad of double digital wins they were able
to stack, up and they were one of the more
dominant teams you'll see from AN ats against the spread
(28:56):
perspective as. Well so a world of expectations on the
upstarts under and we'll see if the POTENTIAL mvp And
Shay Gildess alexander can handle the burden of responsibility and
get this team to THE Nba.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Finals, well let's go to The Eastern. Conference then where's
the money. On is it simply The.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Celtics, yeah that's the way it looks right.
Speaker 13 (29:15):
Now The celtics you have to put up one dollar
and forty cents or fourteen dollars to make. Ten it's
The Cleveland cavaliers checking in right behind them and to
shade less than two to. One and that's where you
can find a little bit of opportunity and. Upside, potentially
if you think The celtics Or cavaliers are, vulnerable maybe
you can buy into The Indiana pacers regaining some of
that electric form that we saw last year that took
(29:36):
them all the way to the conference. Finals you can
get about twenty five to one on. Them and, then
of course it's The knicks kind of hanging around there
with a favorable, matchup at least from an experience. Standpoint
in the opening round against The Detroit, pistons you know
they'll get you about twelve to. One but it appears
to be a two horse race in The, east at
least in the eyes of odds.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
Makers and how about, IT i don't think that there's
much as far as THE NBA mvp. ANYMORE i think you,
know with what happened When denver and even though The
jokers had an unbelievable year better than his, years he's
won THE.
Speaker 5 (30:13):
Mvp is as much action here as that.
Speaker 13 (30:16):
Dead, yeah that market's kind of. Dead, Unfortunately, joker for
better or, worse competing against himself this, season and we
know how THE nba voters. Go they like to oftentimes
get a fresh face, involved but pretty remarkable you can
average a triple Double, razor you're, right play what we've
seen From joker and still be a massive long shot
to be THE. Mvp at last, check when those odds
(30:38):
were available about seven days, ago you could have Had
joker right around twelve to, one but you would have
had to put a substantial chunk of change to BET
sga for that. Award SO i think that one is,
signed sealed and, delivered barring a. Surprise but market that
got the most interesting from an awards perspective was For
coach of The. Year you Saw Mark daniel's odds drop
(30:58):
considerably from about two hundred to one four weeks ago
when The thunder had a chance to flirt with that
seventy win. Threshold he got as low as fifteen to,
one but given how they limped AND i use that
term relatively loosen to the finish line by their high,
standards he kind of fell out of the running for
that as.
Speaker 6 (31:13):
Well.
Speaker 5 (31:13):
Well who was the who would most people put money?
Speaker 4 (31:16):
On BECAUSE i think IS i Think i'd still Think
Kenny atkins is going to, Win but didn't you Have
javy bigger staff with The.
Speaker 5 (31:23):
Pistons what was the?
Speaker 13 (31:25):
Money, yeah it Was Kenny atkinson that closed the favorite
at the majority of books that had those prices, Up
BUT i mean his numbers earlier this, YEAR i mean
you had to put up ten dollars just to make
a dollar coming, back and those numbers. SHORTENED i was
a little bit Surprised amiodoka didn't get enough respect from
oddsmakers in that particular, market given what we've seen from
The Houston, rockets who really didn't have much in the
(31:47):
way of expectations coming into the. Season but you, know
a much more congested field For coach of The, year
given the surprising storylines that we've seen in the association
than what we've grown accustomed to in the.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Past, YEAH i mean it did real.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Quickly if you had any one of, It we've got
any ready to talk.
Speaker 2 (32:01):
About here in a. Minute The.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Masters do you have any info how that was, going
how people were. Betting was It rory's to?
Speaker 13 (32:07):
Lose it's always all about some of the favorites at
the top of the. Board what was interesting about this
Year's masters is a prominent book out here told me
that every time they Drifted Scotti scheffler's odds out to
five to, one there was actually some interest from professional
betters to back him at such a short. Price But
rory also commanded a ton of respect for not only
professionals but also recreational, betters hoping that he can complete
(32:29):
the Career Grand. Slam and When rory kind of stumbled
a little bit in the back nine On, thursday you
saw his pre tournament odds of about seven and a
half to one drift out to twelve to, one and
that's where betters really started to gravitate towards. Him but
it was fascinating if you watch the live odds throughout
the course of the final eighteen And rory with a
double bogie on, one he actually moved to a short
(32:50):
underdog after the second hole that you Saw bryson go
from right around five to two into that slight favorite.
Territory of course that didn't hold. Long and then going
into the one whole playoff Against Justin, Rose rory was
right around a dollar forty, favorite meaning he had to
put up one dollar and forty cents to make a
dollar coming back compared to a return On Justin rose
put up a dollar to make one thirty in.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
Return all, right, well, hey we'll have to congrat To
ROY i finally get in that jacket after seventeen.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
Attempts appreciate You, Todd thank you so, much.
Speaker 6 (33:19):
Man always a.
Speaker 13 (33:20):
Pleasure jents have a great, reund no. Doubt enjoy the playing, Games.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
Thank, you joy the playing. Games we got some playing
games which have been fun historically for the most. Part
we got the FINAL i mean the playoffs started but
a week or so from, now so looking forward to all.
That all, right speaking of we got to talk About
roy and that at amazing last round for him to
finally get that green. Jacket we move THE tv numbers
As steve has put, up AND i wonder if people
are still you, know, like.
Speaker 2 (33:46):

Speaker 5 (33:48):

Speaker 2 (33:51):

Speaker 5 (33:54):

Speaker 14 (36:51):
It it's a grand slam roar An augusta, National ory
McElroy on his knees bit down an. Emotion he's both The,
Masters oh well that was.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Perfect that was, perfect, say, man this was it was
his to, win then it was his to, lose then
it was his to win. Again.
Speaker 7 (37:13):
Right it was a rollercoaster of emotions for everyone. Watching
i'm guessing most people Wanted rory to. Win it's actually
been eleven years since he won his last, major which
is crazy, exactly so he's been waiting for this a
long time and he just needed The masters in order
to finish his Career Grand slam and become one of the.
Greats and the greats are Actually Ben, Hogan Gary, Player Jack,
(37:35):
Nicholas Tiger, Woods Jean, sizen and then Now, Rory so
it's a very elite group of, players and he's actually
the first one that just needed The masters in order
to Complete then it's a long time so you could
actually see the amount of relief on his face after
he made.
Speaker 4 (37:51):
It, No Tom brady went nine years WHAT i wanted
a Super, bowl we, know because if we didn't know,
that you were gonna tell us that that might be
the second thing behind that you've been in, it you,
know you know how a couple of weeks in nineteen eighty.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Seven that's my.
Speaker 4 (38:02):
Second, no, no, no what second is That Tom mizzel
hasn't woned. BASKETBALL i feel Like Tom brady comes up
a little bit. More tomas, third Tomm Yeah, brady and
then Yeah, brady Then. Izzo Yeah brady is definitely, second
because no matter what we're talking About Patrick, mahomes it
comes to.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
Talk about we have to talk About roy, McRoy and
it came up To. BRADY i gotta say. It, no uh, man.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
Congratulatve that is crazy to think it's big of a,
name big of a. Talent this is a guy that
was on In Northern. Ireland he was a. Star he
similar to The Tiger. Woods he was ON tv as
a kid. There watch these amazing shots.
Speaker 5 (38:42):
From This douglas show.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
Too whatever The Northern ireland. VERSUS i saw.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
That that was incredible video and all of that just
to kind of disappear be.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
Competitive. Uh you know he had some disappointing outings last.
Season you thought he was gonna win a couple of.
Majors he. Doesn't this had to be so. Relieved that's
why you saw him break. DOWN i mean he broke.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
Down and whenever you're you get an event that ends
like in that, fashion you're gonna get.
Speaker 5 (39:09):
People gonna stick.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
Around steve brought it up like they tuned in and
they were hoping to see sixty minutes and then what's
going on?
Speaker 5 (39:15):
Here, yeah and then before you know, it you're going
to stick and watch the end of. It and so
it ended storybook.
Speaker 7 (39:21):
Fashion it was definitely a storybook especially because it was
a rematch from THE Us open Between, bryson because they
were in the same, group So bryson was right behind
him in the beginning of the final. Day obviously he
dropped down to, FIFTH i, believe but it was something
that almost it was like meant to be for. Him
it was your redemption because he WOULDN'T i don't know
if he'd be the biggest choke in Like, street there's
(39:44):
some big choke artists in in the golf, history but
this would have really put him up there at the
top if he wasn't able to finish.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
This and the fact that he was able to do,
it you could just see amazing. SHOTS i, mean he
hit it through the, trees he curved around a. Tree
it was amazing to. See so congrats to. Him, obviously
a load, off a burden off now.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
He could just he's.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Goaded now he's, knighted if you. Will Fox Sports radio
on his, knees bit down it
