R party. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio, Welcome in
on a worship Wednesday. Indeed, it is the Odd Couple
of Fox Sports Radio, Rob Parker and Allen Lee and
for Chris Bussard coming to you live from the Fox

(00:44):
Sports Radio studios. We could talk about how complicated other
banks make it to redeem their credit card rewards, or
we could just talk about how we Discover you can
redeem your rewards for cash and any amount and anytime.
I mean talk about a maze and learn more at
discover dot com. Slash Redeem Rewards terms apply. Chris Broussard

(01:11):
on a little Vak. I'm back after three and a
half months off. That's what it felt like, Alex Dorder
was four months, wasn't it. I mean it was it was.
Since I've been working in Alice, you never remember me
having this much time off right, I totally forgot how
you looked unbelievable. And then to come back and have

(01:32):
Allen Lee for people who are tuning in. Alan Lee
a TV news anchor. I got to know him in
Detroit where he anchored Fox two's morning news. Right, it
was twenty years. How long will you do at eighteen? Yeah?
And you did with sports cause to tell people who
might be around the country because they probably watched you

(01:52):
at some point, because you know, in television you make
a couple of stops. Right. I worked at w RC,
which when I went there in DC, it was George
Michael Sports Machine. Absolutely, remember the late George Michael. Late
George I remember in New York. He used to be
the weekend guy when Warner Wolf was the sports cast
at w ABC Michael, let's go, let's go to the video.

(02:13):
Tell yeah, you don't say Warner Wolf. Yeah. And and
at w RC Channel four, the legendary anchor Jim Vance,
Jim Vance who passed right about a un new Jim
very well, he was there when he was a legendary anchor.
Is a powerhouse station, uh, Tim Russer, as we were,
you know, one of the networks what they call owned

(02:33):
and operated stations. So network was in the basement. So
Tim Russell was there all the time, and you know,
Andrew Mitchell. You know, we had a commissary. Soho saw
them all? What where did you do sports? What town?
I did sports? So started off. People always laugh, why
I believe no, Saint Thomas virgin Why why did you leave? Oh?
You know, you get tired of it. Man, every day

(02:55):
sunshine beaches, beautiful women, and you're like, okay, because you're
not making anal of money, right, they're paying you with
such dollars, right. But that's the why I started also
playing minor league baseball. It was like with the Twins
had a sort of a loose organization down there. Played there.
It was great. The first time I ever saw, really
in my life, I ever saw somebody throw a baseball

(03:15):
upper nineties and you see that and you're kind of like, okay,
all right, I'm not I'm not that good. I've got
to make sure my broadcasting careers. I can't hit that thing. Um.
And then from there, I just came back to the
States and you know, made my way through. But it did.
Sports in Evansville covered like University Kentucky. Rick Patino Indiana.
Bob Knight and I actually became very good acquaintance, so

(03:37):
he never choked you a pimp slap. I'm gonna tell
you if I can do this real quick. Bob Knight
and I became good acquaintances when I was at Purdue.
I worked for the student newspaper there, the Purdue XP
on it and they had lost to Purdue at West
Lafayette one day and Purdue was having the construction done
in the main interview room, so they huddled us all
in this little bitty room. And there was about twenty

(03:58):
thirty sports guys in this little room, Bob Knights in
the middle. And I'm walking in late because I went
to go talk to my buddies who were on the
basketball team. And Bob Knight went through one of his
famous thrown speech when he was upset because they lost.
And then Bob Knight used to always try to intimidate everybody,
go like, any questions right, try to get especially young reporters.

(04:19):
I'm standing right next to Coach Night, and I go
was a matter of fact, Coach, I do have a question.
And he turned and looked at me like, are you
out of your mind? Right? How did you look right, like, boy,
this better be the greatest question in the world. I
could just feel those that guys. I mean, I asked.
And the reason now, I said, you know how to
get the coach night, You simply talk to him about basketball.

(04:43):
You gave him a basketball question about a point in
the game, and he respected that and he actually answered it.
And so months years after that he always begot to
know each other and he was like, very respectful and
very nice to me. Well, the other thing about Alan
and why we have a friendship and a kinship. If
we both loved baseball, love it. We both loved the game.
We've been the games together. And the All Star Game

(05:06):
was in Los Angeles, rolled out the red carpet, Allen.
It was beautiful, all right, just absolutely beautiful weather, Chamber
of Commerce day. But LA put on a great show.
I think for the rest of the country, especially for
those people who were in attendis I think they came
to appreciate Los Angeles in a way that I think
both they had never had before. They go, oh, I
don't understand why we were talking about Los Angeles so bad.
It's great. It is great to come visit. And it

(05:29):
was a great game. And we saw a couple of
big home runs and the America League one. But speaking
of the home runs, as we go into the second
half of the season, and this is one of those
storylines to watch, and Aaron Judge has thirty three home runs. Yep,
we talked about it because no one's done it with sixty.
I don't think you know, since the guys who were

(05:50):
involved with juice, like you know what I mean. So,
so this would be like if he were to get
to Roger Marris's number sixty one or sixty two right
the right way. But some people are like questioning whether
or not he can get there. I think he has
a shot at it for real, and I know he
has to keep up a pace. But he had fifty

(06:10):
two wards a rookie, so I mean, this is not
like he's never had those big numbers and now you're
asking him to try to get to sixty fifty two
wars a lot as a rookie and he hits them
in bunches. I think he has a shot at doing
second half of the season. I think a lot has
to depend on how well the guys who are in
front of him and behind him in the lineup are doing.

(06:33):
If Rizzo and Stanton continue to get hot, he might
see less pictures to hit that. That could be one possibility,
And of course the obvious thing is he has to
stay healthy. And then some people think, well, maybe the
Yankees will rest him more in the second half because
you want to postseason, will give him some days off.
I don't know. If I got a guy approaching sixty,

(06:55):
I'm gonna let him play it out, because it doesn't
happen at all. Exactly. If Aaron Boone senses that he's
closed to making that record, I think you go to
Judge and you go, do you want to go for this?
If you want to go, man, we'll put you out
there all right, exactly, and not Aaron hopefully will say yeah,
because you know, there's also another incentive for him to
put up the best numbers he can because he got
a contract coming out. He's got a contract, and he's
turned down two hundred and thirteen, not four hundred and

(07:17):
forty million like Juan Soto. No, I can't. That's just
an incredible amount of money. And people say, wow, his
average salary would only be twenty nine dude. Whatever alan
you notice from the TV business? And I noticed from
the radio and TV business when they put guarantee cheddar
in you, you know, in front of you can't scoff

(07:39):
at it. I don't care, like like it's a guaranteed
number that you know you will get no matter what happened. Right,
but you always know that man, this was got a
little bit more money they want to give you too, now,
no doubt. All right. But but as we talk about
Judge who I think HiT's monster Blast and it's one
of those guys you want to watch. You're not going

(08:01):
to the refridge for a beer or something to drink. Right,
when certain guys called a certain guys you said you
love show, you hold it right? Do you do the
dance right? I gotta I'm like, I'm gonna wait here
for a minute, exactly. Yeah, there's to me. Oh Tany
was also one of those games think you takes vicious cuts, right,
it's just the build up of a moment. And now
that he is who he is, and you know the

(08:23):
four folklore sort of like surrounding and you remember when
he first came all the talk and then he got
off to a slow start and people were like, oh,
I'm not sure about this kid. You know I told
you first time I went to go to Angel Stadium
to see him. The first year, you know, you're kind
of like, oh, so that's the guy right. Then he
went the second year and they're like, oh man, he
got big, right, and how can I do that big

(08:43):
still be that fast? I remember watching I think it
was last year, it might have been this opening day,
and he hit a home run. He started the game
and he hit a home run and the crack of
the bat you know what I'm talking about that And
there's certain guys, right, I've heard cracks about. But I
was watching on TV and the crack was like unbelievable crack.

(09:07):
I was like, wow, you could hear it. He's one
of those guys that You're right, He's one of those
guys what amazes me though, Also getting back to Judge
and the Yankees, it's like watching the New York Knicks
walking to it a combination of the Knicks and the
Giants walk in the football team walking those guys are you,
oh yeah, no, they got they got football players. And
when I see Stanton hit a home run, sometimes it

(09:28):
hit this looks so effortless. Now last night he hit
one five sixty seven crushed it. And what was crazy
was they told the story nights from He's an LA guy, right,
he said, That's where he used to sit when he
went to games with his pops when he was a kid,
in the left field bleachers and they hit one in
your hometown All Star Gaming win. The MVP Pad said

(09:51):
he used to bang in the left field to try
to throw him a ball. You know, that's something that
is in the back of your mind. So many of
those guys last night who were from the LA area
talked about going to Dodger Stadium as a kid and
just going to that ballpark and what it meant to
them to be there. But for him, I think he
thank you all the school like fourteen miles away from Dodgers.
Oh yeah, something like that. He went to Notre Dame. Yeah,

(10:12):
so I think he gave away fifty tickets. Yeah, fifty
uh he said. And he was saying in the interview
the special one was for his dad, because you know,
of all those times they spread a Dodgers him, so
I know his dad. He got a little emotional and
I could imagine, you know, baseball has that on it
is that you remember going to your first game and
who you went with and catching a ball. I mean

(10:34):
there's a little you don't catch a football out of game,
you know. And I can't imagine for while fortunate for
those guys to be able to give back to their
families like that and their father because you know, their
father probably spent so many hours on the baseball field
with him. You know, my my dad passed away back
in eighty nine before I really got to, I guess,
the pinnacle of my career, and you know, so he

(10:54):
never really saw that. But there's got to be something
special about being able to give back, no doubt Aaronson,
to see them, to have them see you do so
well because you were a kid nine years old playing
ball in the backyard and you were tossing him the ball.
Now he's a major league hitting the ball out the park.
Absolutely special. But this is the thing, Bucks that hit
an unbelievable home un two and the ball was over

(11:14):
his head. He liked, Tomma hawked the ball out of
Dodgers Dad him another one. I love think it was
five twenty five, but I wouldn't want to ask. And
this is what we want to hear from people too,
because you said show Hayes the guy you want to watch.
Hits definitely for me, as great as Aaron Judge has been.
And the home runs thirty three and he gets a

(11:35):
lot of clutch ones and big lout I'm a standing guy.
I think Gene Carlo Stanton is the guy I cannot
miss and at bad Yeah, you know who else I
can't miss, but it's not a home run guy. From
a pure technical just to watch him hit. I love
Freddie Freeman. Yeah, Freddy, his command and how he can
control the ball where he goes. I kind of wish

(11:58):
that Freddie Freeman would sit Cody Bell Luncher down and go,
let's talk about your approach. This is to help him, yeah,
to help him. But I love watching Freddy Freeman hit.
It's masterful to see how he because he's not a
big home run guy. No, and he doesn't take a
full swing sometimes he just you know, it's almost like
he's trying to golf, you know. But he played He
played like like even a tennis where you place the ball.

(12:19):
He can place it to left center, and he is
a really good hitter. But I'm just wondering out there
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox when it comes
to hitting the long ball. Uh, you saw standing in
the All Star Game? You saw Byron Buxton. Who do
you like to watch hit? Or you have a favorite
home run hitter? Uh? That is? And who's the best

(12:42):
one out there? Now? I wonder what people will say,
who's you know? You say, well, Aaron Judge as the
most what does that at twenty nine twenty nine home runs?
He's another guy, But he didn't have a great derby.
I think he kind of think he tanked it for
Albert Pools to get a point. That was pretty bad.
Poohols was on the verge of having the lowest total

(13:04):
because he didn't belong in the A nice moment. You
can't but everything is like, I don't want this to
be like, uh the old timer's day. Okay, one guy
for me. Let's put Kershaw on the mound the start.
He shouldn't have been the starter in the All Star Game.
Let's give Poolholes his due. Let's do this for Meggie.

(13:27):
I mean, yes, you already know, all right, we want
to hear from you. Eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox is the phone number eight seven seven nine nine
six sixty three sixty nine, And who do you enjoy
watching who's the best home run hitter? Who's worth the

(13:48):
price of admission? Who do you have to hold your
you're here? I don't want to be vulgar, but hold
your bathroom? Uh breaks four in order? Okay, thanks Rob g.
Because I didn't know what I was about to say
and it wasn't gonna be good. I thought we're going
to back to the hot dogs. Everyone. Yeah, that's right,
all right? Eight seven, seven ninety nine. On Fox, it

(14:10):
is the Eye Couple Fox Sports Radio. Stick and stay
unless you don't know what to say. Yeah, that's me
all day. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk

IY Couple on a worship Wednesday, Rob Parker Allen Lee
in for Chris Broussard. Dealing with a dead battery, head
to autos Own, America's number one battery destination. They offer
free battery services like free battery testing and free battery charging.
So the next time you have in battery trouble, that's

(14:54):
where I head to autos Own your battery solution and
America's number one battery destination number one. That's right, I'll
telephone number eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox for
you layman out there eight seven seven nine nine six
sixty three sixty nine, Rob Parker and Allen Lee and
we're talking home run hitters in baseball. Who's a can't see,

(15:18):
can't miss and the guy you just gotta keep the
TV on or you gotta wait to go get some food.
You gotta wait to use the bathroom because you gotta
see these guys hit. I know, Judge, we talked about him.
Will he get to sixty home runs? But for me
it's Stanton and for Alan it is showhy wet and

(15:41):
that's where we are and we want to hear. Take
other guys, if you're listening, who do you love to
see hit home runs in the Major All right, let's
hear from Scott Euston. You're on the odd Couple Fox
Sports Radio. Scott. Who's your guy? My guy is you're
Don Alvarez? Yes? Yes, I cry every time time because
he wasn't one. What do you love? What was he for? Yeah? Yeah?

(16:05):
What do you love about him? His swing and everything?
Tell us I love his swing he's number two in
the AL, but he's got a much better batting average
than both Judge and your Otani. Check it out. Yes,
he doesn't just hit home runs. No, No, it'll be
in so so do you have him leading the MVP
voting or not? At the moment, I would have him

(16:29):
leading it. Yes, people to have him over Judge even
though the Yankees have this five game lead or four
and a half game lead over the Astros. Well, yes,
because Judge isn't even in the top ten in batting average,
but your Dons number two? Scott, are you worried about
his injury at all? A little bit? I mean, he
seems to be a bit injury prone. He was last

(16:51):
year and he's a little bit dinged up this year.
So I don't know how that's gonna be going forward.
But if I had to choose, he'd beat my one. Okay, Scott,
we appreciate the called. Thanks for the support on the ICO.
I'm not going to push back on that eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. All right, let's here from
Van in Minnesota. You're on the odd couple Fox Sports Radio.

(17:13):
Then take it away on a great show. Thank you. Um,
I just all those guys you mentioned are unbelievable. I'll
go to school with you. I grew up in Chicago
in the late fifties early sixties, went to Kemiski Park.
Now as a man, we got a bad practice. He

(17:34):
hit like tan over my head right and hit like
where my head left hand. I've never seen anything like that. No, no, no,
Mickey man, don't we know that. I mean historically that
he's one of those guys. And imagine how he stayed
clean and sober. What is careal would have been so
for real? Now you know Van's opening the door there.

(17:55):
I mean we could talk. Thank thank for the call.
Appreciate it. Yeah, Drake from California. Who's your guy? You
listening to the Odd Couple on Fox Sports Radio. How's
to go on? Guys? It's definitely an honor to be
on the show. How you guys doing? We're doing great? Man.
We appreciate that too. Thank you. I definitely say that

(18:17):
My favorite here to watch is probably Rock the Oldeavors
of the Red Sox. I just love his approach and
I love how he takes like a deep breath every
time before each pitch. He golfed home runs over the
right field wall Fenway Park pretty easy, you know, he
just I just love his style, his moves, and he

(18:38):
leaves the league in a basis. So yeah, it's pretty
incredible here to watch, no, no doubt. It's just funny. Uh.
You know, being from California, why are you a Red
Sox fan or transplant? Um? I just like I like
Fenway Park a lot. You know, it's the oldest park
in Major League Baseball. It's definitely got a lot of
lored behind it, you know, the Red Sox curse and

(19:00):
all that. Um And I also love the Red Sox
Uni funds. I think they look great. Red's my favorite
color as well, so that definitely helps. No, I get it.
And that's a great ballpark. One of my favorites. Alan,
I love Fenway Park, I love Wrigley, I love some
of the old ballparks. And my favorite might be Camden Yards.

(19:20):
Which have you been down there? Oh? I was going
from the opening? Yeah, yeah, beautiful, beautiful plays. Not a
bad seat in the house, uh, pack Bell, I know
they call it something else in San Francisco again on
the water right there, and then in Pittsburgh PNC Park, Yeah,
have you been there? Been there? Thirty eight thousand seats.
It faces the skyline of Pittsburgh beautiful. I'm telling that's

(19:41):
a musty uh. And I grew up in Chicago, so
Rigley Field was always one of my favorites. So are
your Cubs. When I was definitely, one of my neighbors
was a white TI We went at it constantly all
the time. All right, appreciate it. We've got Foul or
Fan with JR. Gamble coming up first. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard

(20:04):
and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. That
ball is It was a big week in the big leagues.
Who's Is it foul or is it fair? And now

(20:26):
from mlbatbro dot Com, here's JR. Gamble. That's right, it
is fouler fair. Here on the Odd Couple of Fox
Sports Radio segment, we go around the diamond to discuss
all the biggest headlines in Major League Baseball. We doing
a lot of it already tonight, but we got a
couple more for you. In order to do so properly,
we had to bring in one of the biggest stars
in all of baseball media, the face of MLB bro

(20:48):
dot com, the reason why you download the Inside the
Parker podcast every Thursday. That would be my man, JR. Gamble. Yes, sir,
how how was up, fellow? How was your trip? Hey? Jr?
Was here for the All Star gave me, helped lead
the MLB Bro crew, and you flew back to New

(21:09):
York today. I mean, how was the flight? You're good? No,
I'm standing in the airport right now this hour to
deliver my bag as I thought i'd be home in
time to settle in. So I'm showing what you know.
The MLB Bro Soul Patrol King does aware and I
actually learned that work ethic from Sir Rob park Oh Man,

(21:32):
look at that. All right, He's good to go. All right,
we ready, Rob jests get to Alan. I'm sure you
get the hang of this. If you hear the guys,
go boy. Because JR is the star of the segment,
he gets first cross. Let's get started. Question number one. Now, guys,
I know maybe Alan saw this, but you didn't because
you're in the stadium. But fans on social media were
buzzing throughout the MLB All Star Game last night, thanks

(21:54):
in large part to one subtle but very dramatic change.
That would be the micd up picture. And if case
you missed it, here's a clip of last night's miked
up All Star Game? What do you want me to
do it? On? Though? John? John? Do you want down
in the low? Oh? Your sex? And here we go? No? Oh?
It was great. Guys. If you haven't seen it, if

(22:16):
you were live in this DA didn't watch the replay,
it was great. Here's a question, j R. Easy foul
or fair to say that Major League Baseball should make
micd up pictures a permanent thing? Foul? That is a
foul ball. It's cool to Mike Blair's up fellers, you know,
during the exhibition, like it's an All Star game, you know,

(22:37):
because they're care free and they're probably willing to say
more and show more than personalities. And it's definitely interesting
to hit players, you know, talking strategy. But I don't
think it would work permanently. Pictures are a bit too quirky,
uh that, you know, the conditions and creatures a habit,
and baseball is way too hard to be worrying about
microphones and having to Washington saying every day. It's something

(23:00):
new with Major League Baseball trying to reinvent the wheel
when all they really need to do is return real
elements of the game, like feeling and hitting singles. I'm
with JR. This is fine. Is a foul. I just
can't you know, like, if a guy has a bad
outing and he's miked up and he's taught, he's gonna
blame it on this damn mic And what am I

(23:22):
doing exhibition games? I'm cool, We're already rolling out to
Albert Poolholes and the Clayton Kershaw. So if you want
to mic up, people do that. But in games that
really matter, I don't want my picture worried about a
microphone now, and I don't. Alex mcnore was great last night, though.
Hearing him talk confidence that he has was amazing. A

(23:44):
thing gets fouled because I think during the course of
a really intense game, you don't want to be bothered
with that. And I can't remember if Liam Hendricks of
the White Sox, whether it was an exhibition game or
in a real game last year where he just let
go some some because he was getting killed, and you're like, oh,
I guess they were saying had a silence, but right,

(24:06):
no doubt, we move on question number two. Jr. Baseball
fans case you haven't noticed, as a collective, they really
really hate Rob Manfred. I mean, for the second consecutive
year players in the All Star Game they wore commemorative
jerseys in the field as opposed to their traditional everyday uniforms.
Now When asked about the decision, Manfred said, quote, I

(24:29):
never thought that a baseball team wearing different jerseys in
the game was a particularly appealing look for us. So
JR foul or fairness say baseball should go back to
the traditional uniforms for next year's All Star Game. Fair
and you know Manfred's the commissioner, But who who really

(24:50):
cares what he thinks about the fashion choices of the teams?
We personally, I couldn't disagree with him more. The individuality
of the uniform was one of the peals of the
Midsummer classes for me, particularly when I was young. I
don't want to see players wearing the same uniform. It's
the showcase of the best players from different teams and
franchises who have great players, and they should get the

(25:11):
opportunity to showcase their uniform their city and their team.
It's also how people identify players. Everyone isn't a huge
baseball fan, so they have to wearing the same uniform.
A lot of people don't even know what's going on,
So Manfred's totally missing. The marquire An excuses even more terrible.
But he's a good guy. Spoke to him at the
All Star Game this week about MLB browing. He's very supportive.

(25:34):
So now that I have his ear, maybe I'll double
back and ask them to keep the old style with
everyone wearing their own uniform. Allen, all right, I say, followers, Well,
these guys wearing these uniforms that you know Nike makes
up for somebody else makes up. I would rather represent

(25:55):
my home team wearing my home team uniform. That just
is a better look to me. I got it. But
I'm gonna stay fair. It's fair, yes, and only from
this standpoint. And I know, like these other leagues, we
got NBA uniforms with logos team logos on it, you know,
because they're trying to make money. So if they're gonna

(26:15):
do that, I would rather them do it, like to
make money off the All Star jerseys rather than put
on a dunkin Donuts patch on a Yankee uniform. Do
you know what I mean? Like like I don't want
to see that. I don't like a woman. Hey, I
don't want to see it. And so I get the
money thing, and they're trying to make money and sell

(26:37):
hats and all that. If you don't use an All
Star hat, you don't sell anymore because everybody has their
Yankee hat. You know what I'm saying. Yeah, true, So
financially I get it. I'm with you, Rob. Anything's better
than I don't know if you guys saw this those
Padre City Connect uniforms a couple of weeks ago. They
were pink and highlighter green. Yeah, they're trying to be

(26:58):
too cute. They thought that was bad. Ice cream don't
need that all right? Last question? Foul are fair? Here?
In the Odd Couple? JR. Gamble the star of the
segment back out Now. Coming into the All Star Game,
one of the big talking points was the implement implementation
it's a big word for me, of a new extrainings rule. Now. Obviously,
if the game was tied after nine, the managers like

(27:19):
three players from each team to compete in the home
run derby to decide the winner. Now it didn't come
to pass because the game ended, thank god, the way
it was supposed to. But here's the question, foul or
fair to say last night's All Star Game would have
been better had it gone to the derby tiebreaker. Jr.
Found that is a foul ball. You know, like most

(27:44):
All Star games, last night was kind of slow moving,
so you know, it might have needed it. But just
everyone's sitting around waiting for someone to hear the home run.
That's the regular game, like with Ricky Hamerson, vote Jackson
when you need them, you know, like last night was
the same. We might as well just make the All
Star Game the home run derby at this rate, because
you think that's the only aspect to you know, if

(28:04):
baseball that's exciting to the CASU baseball fan, that might
be true, but the league is really putting itself out
there trying to you know, trying to get interest in
fans anyway possible. But that's another philosophical pickle and another
misreading of the room by baseball. Everything in baseball doesn't
have to be about the home run. There are other
aspects of the game that are great, and the baseball

(28:26):
promotes those aspects instead of you know, the low hanging fruit,
the home run, then the game will be good. You
don't have to come up with all these circus things
all the time. So I agree, I think it's fouled.
And here's the other thing, who are you trying to appease?
Like these are baseball fans, We know the game. They're

(28:46):
trying to appease people who don't. Who are baseball fans.
You gotta run away your fan base and make us
you know, we're putting the runner on second base and
all this to go home early. No, I want to
watch a good game. And if I need to leave, allen,
I'll get up and get in the car and leave.
Or listen to the rust of the radio. I'm gonna
say fair. Fair, I'm gonna say fair because there's the

(29:09):
rich reason for me. Listen. You're a traditional god run. Look,
man on the East Coast, everybody was how late does
that thing go in the East Coast? Because you start
so late? Let me go. But that's nothing that that
baseball can Dude, that's you. Notice you work in TV. Yes,
that's what Fox wants. They don't want the game to
start at seven. Oh, you sit on that anchor desk

(29:29):
you want that game the air. There's the thing. It's
also a way to get guys into a home run
derby that don't participate in the home run derby. So
you could have gotten Aaron Judge and there, you could
have gotten no Tony in there and one other selection.
So I think in that sense it would have been
sort of intriguing. All Right, I'm a woman, gets it?

(29:52):
Do it again? That's all JR. Wants to hear. I'm
a woman. And he said it to me like eight
times when he was here for the All Star all Right,
that was a low moment for me. But I'm all right,
how about and that's fala fair guy. There you go,
Thank you, all right, appreciate it, JR. Gamble MLB bro
dot com MLB Bro, because you need to know, all right,

(30:15):
the biggest star in sports media could be on the move.
I thought Chris Brussard was sticking around. Okay, we'll explain
that next. It is the odd couple with Allen Lee
in for Chris Broussard, Rob Parker, hear you there on
Fox Sports Radio. Stick and stay unless you're moving like
Chris Brusard around the US of A. Be sure to

(30:38):
catch live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Brussard
and Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern, four pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. It
is a Worship Wednesday on The Odd Couple. Rob Parker,
Allen Lee sitting there for Chris Broussard, And you know,
we could talk about how complicated other banks make it

(31:00):
to redeem credit card rewards, or we could talk about
how we discover you can redeem your rewards for cash
and any amount at any time. I mean talk about
amazing learn more at discovered dot com. Slash redeem rewards
terms apply. As we wrap up this Odd Couple on

(31:22):
a Worship Wednesday before. Alan's an author to He's written
a couple of books. We're gonna talk about his latest
book in a minute. But Rob Gee, you want to
jump in on this Charles Barkley story. And Alan, you
know that throwing around TV money for announcers, and we
saw it in the NFL, all these guys getting paid.

(31:43):
They gave Tom Brady thirty seven and a half million
dollars to seventeen football games. And now Rob Gee, there's rumors,
you know, everybody's going to live golf, right, and what's
the latest? Yeah? Well, according to our Good Buddy Network
teammate Dan Patrick, Charles Barkley, who is by far the

(32:06):
biggest star in sports media, is not even close that
he is contemplating leaving inside the NBA, where he's won
a ton of Emmy's to join the Live Golf broadcast team,
which is interesting Rob Parker and Allan because liv currently
does not have a broadcasting deal and they just poached

(32:29):
David Ferty from NBC. Now. According to Dan Patrick, if
Charles Barkley were to leave for Live Golf, that would
obviously mean that he would no longer be on inside
the NBA. Your thoughts, gentlemen, I'm gonna sit here right
now and tell you that I'm predicting that Charles Barkley
takes the job. I've seen your golf swing today, if

(32:51):
it's going by golf swings, and Charles is swing. But
I just think Charles has been talking about contemplating retiring
for a while. Yeah, what else? And he's done it
for a long time, you know what I mean, You've
done all you can do in basketball, and I wonder
about how much he enjoys like the way the game
has changed so much, and the players are all belly
yache and you can't say anything there, you know what

(33:13):
I mean, Like it's it's and and in golf, they
wouldn't ask him, they're not don't have former golfers to
do the analysis. He's just a personality. I'm gonna overpay
you to just act up and have a whole bunch
of fun and have fun with the guys. Show up
and do your thing and get paid. Are you ridiculous
about you already know? And I'm sure if I'm him,

(33:35):
I say, if you got a Tom Brady number for me,
I'm listening, That's all I would say, right, yeah, exactly.
You know. The controversy is what it is. We were
talking about this earlier before the show started about if
you join the live tournament or you know that whole group,
you know what it is on the surface, right, So
you either your your your background or the way you

(33:58):
think can either accept that for what it is, or
if you have some ethical problems with it, you don't
do it. But that's an individual choice that you just
have to make. And ultimately, I just think that they
have an unbelievable unlimited amount of money and they are
going to eventually win. You could the PGA, because if

(34:19):
the majors realize that they can't get any of the
good golfers and they all leave, they will say, Alan,
we're gonna let these guys play, right the Tiger Woods,
And he turned it down. But Tiger doesn't need any money, right,
so that was an easy no. Yeah, but I'll tell
you all these other younger guys gonna be around. You
could play, Alan, and ain't about making a cut. You're

(34:41):
gonna get paid, but go, I mean you don't mean
guys on the tour don't get making enough money to
pay their caddies and all that stuff. Right, My wife
was happy that I'm coming here, that I'm making a
little scratch. May there you go, you better take out
to dinner. Unbelievable, So um yeah, I mean it would be.
And if your turner, you don't want to leave chall
I lose chawles. But can you how much can you pay?

(35:03):
I mean if you can't get that, if you're sitting there,
you're going, oh my god, because you match that, and
then you got checks hitting there, You got Kenny sitting there,
you got Ernie sitting there going Okay, we're all friends.
But right, we gotta get paid too, Right, where's ours? Yeah,
that's always the other big part of it. So it'll
be interesting. Alan. You you just uh, you wrote a book,

(35:25):
can you tell me? Yeah? It's the Um, it's the
sequel to a book I wrote called Sandstorm, which I
that's the one I have in right, that's the one
you have and now you have that one which I autographed.
Let me see, man, you know, nothing special, but it's
a it's the sequel to the Sandstorm, which was a
novel about a CIA operative and it was based on
my pleasure. It was based on actually framed around some

(35:47):
real events that have happened or loosely about the United
States and Israel in their relationship ship with not letting
a round get nuclear capability. So it's a spy novel
and that's just the follow up to that and hopefully
you know, we had a night very nice conversation yesterday
with some gentlemen about where we might be in terms
of bringing it to the big screen or streaming. So

(36:08):
that would be awesome anytime you can do that. Yeah,
And um, I was gonna say, it ain't easy to
write a book. People have no idea work. It's work.
It's hard. When I see these authors who turn out
three books a year, I can't believe it. I can't believe.
I can't believe it was that's hard work. I have
too many distractions. It's hard to write a book. It

(36:31):
just is. I mean, I've started one. I have one
that I hope it's going to be out at Christmas time. Yeah,
and it's just really a story about the people throughout
my career who have impacted me. So it's more about
them and what they've impacted to me. So I think
it'll be interested and fun read. But I'll tell you

(36:52):
what was fun, and that was hanging out with Alan
Lee here on Fox Sports Radio on the Odd Couple
Man my pleasure that we talked about for a couple
of years. We were supposed to do this pre pandemic
pre pandemic and it didn't happen. I kind of felt
like the pandemic Wow, And instead he comes in and
I thought, today was the perfect day for you with

(37:13):
the baseball and the All Star you know what I mean.
Any times, it was absolutely a good time. So yeah,
so we will h Chris is off the rest of
the week and Adam Torres will u. We'll Aaron Torres
will fill in tomorrow and Rob g on Friday, so
those guys will fill in and we'll still have fun.

(37:34):
It's great to be back from vacation. I feel great.
I had a great time. I ain't too much food,
but Jason Smith Mike Harmon up next here on Fox
Sports Radio, so make sure you stick around for them.
Stick good, Stead
