R All. Yeah, it is the Odd Couple. It's your boy,
Chris Brusard alongside my partner Rob Parker, and we're coming
to you live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios.
(00:42):
Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on
your car insurance. Visit Geico dot com for a free
rate quote. And so much to talk about today. What
a night for Lebron James. He surpasses his idol, Michael
Jordan in the one thing Jordan did best, which will
(01:04):
score the basketball. So huge achievement for him, but not
quite the reception we expected. So we will get into that.
We will talk other angles on the Lakers, m J
the NBA in general, and even a little bit of
NFL talk. We've got great guests coming up in less
than thirty minutes. One of our FS one colleagues, one
(01:27):
of our favorite guys, Super Bowl champion Greg Jennings will
join us, and then in the second hour, Yahoo NBA
senior writer Chris Haynes, who does a great job cover
in the association, he will talk to us and we'll
talk about Lebron kind of not shutting it down, but
a little bit more of a minute's restriction and we're
(01:50):
all playing back to backs going forward. That's the story
that Chris Haynes broke. So great to have him on today,
So lots to talk about three hours with you. It's
us keep it locked and here's your boy, Rob Parker.
What's happened to mister Chris Bussard? I am great man?
How are you hey? I'm not happy today and I'm
just gonna tell you real quick, that's odd when you're
(02:12):
not happy, it's strange. I'm a happy guy. You know that.
I'm never coming with an attitude or being blue. But
how dare ESPN Chicago steal off show? Name? Have you
heard about this? Chris? I heard rumbling there's a new
gambling show in Chicago that's gonna be called The Odds
(02:36):
with an US the Odds Couple. How dare you we're
the odd couple? Chris Bussar, Rob Parker, Fox Sports Radio
finding another nap. I don't like it. I don't like
it at all. This is my name, man. I know
that they are. They trying to capitalize off what we've
built here exactly. They see what's going on, They see
(02:58):
how people respond to the odd Cup. They think throwing
an esseinre is gonna change their fortune, or they could
piggyback on our success. Look, we both were there. They
could have had us then exactly see it, and now
we're here doing it for Fox Sports. I'm with you.
I don't like it. Change the game. Do we have
that power? No? I don't know. I don't know. Let's see, though,
(03:22):
let's see. Let's go behind the scenes and see what
we could do. All right, I gotta admit that's a clever.
It is. If we didn't have our show, it would
be real clever, right, But we have our show since September.
They four years to do the Odds Couple, and now
they're doing it just six months after we start, right
(03:42):
start full time, right because we were on three months
part time. We had that name on the radio right
in the atmosphere right well anyway, but absolutely good. I
feel much better but it is the odd couple and Chris.
We wouldn't be able to do this fine radio program
without our crew. Yes, Rob g is the producer, Alex
(04:04):
is our engineer. Our sports anchor Deb Carson. She'll keep
us updated throughout the show. Our intern is Nathan and
of course our social media guru was Elijah and they're
all on the other side of the glass. Crisp who
saw on this TV theme song Thursday, Let's kick some masks.
Let's do it all right. As I said at the top,
(04:27):
it was all about Lebron James last night. He goes out,
needs thirteen points to pass Michael Jordan and moved to
fourth on the all time scoring list for NBA players,
and he does it midway through the second quarter, gets
his thirteen points, ended up with what thirty one point
seven rebounds, seven assists, something like that. I mean, Lebron
(04:48):
just puts up those numbers in his sleep. Is amazing
that in a year that has no doubt been a
down year for him and certainly for his team. That's
that's an understatement. He's still putting up numbers that rival
his career that that actually are right there with his
career numbers. But the number, but the numbers just this
(05:08):
year just feel empty because you're not winning, right get well, yeah,
when you don't win, they are somewhat empty. But he's
still able to go out in his sixteenth year give
you twenty seven, eight and eight, So that that's a
big accomplishment. But here's what I want to say, Rob,
(05:28):
and I think this is an angle that a lot
of people have missed. When you look at the top
five scores of all time, Kareem abdul Jabbar, Carl Malone,
Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, and Michael Jordan in that order,
only two of them were hyped as prodigies from a
(05:48):
very young age, early in their high school careers, and
that was Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Lebron James. Now, of
course Kobe came straight out of high school to the NBA,
but you know, and he had some degree of hype,
but nothing compared to what Lebron got. Kobe was drafted thirteenth.
Lebron was drafted first, of course, so that was different.
(06:09):
Michael Jordan was somewhat of a late bloomer. We all
know the legendary story about him not making his varsity
team when he was a sophomore. We know, Karl Malone
went to Louisiana Tech, you know, so he wasn't any
blue chip recruit coming out of high school. And so
I wanted to just say that for Lebron James, and
(06:33):
obviously Kareem did it as well, but for Lebron James
to live up to the hype and maybe even go
further than the hype, it's very impressive. We've seen a
lot of guys who at a young age are viewed
is the next best, biggest thing. Sebastian Telfair was viewed
(06:55):
as the next great point guard. Obviously that didn't work out.
Demetrius Walker at fourteen was put on the cover of
Sports Illustrated as the next big thing in basketball. He
never even got to the NBA. You Oj Mayo was
the next Lebron, you know, Derek Character. I mean, I
can go on and on, and a lot of guys
(07:16):
that were the next guy did at least make the
NBA but never panned out. They were role players. You
remember a guy Marcus Liberty, rob you know, went to Illinois,
was supposed to be the next Magic Johnson and Sawing
and so forth. So I do want to give credit
to Lebron James for having that hype as a fifteen
(07:39):
year old kid, if not a little bit earlier, and
living up to it, if not surpassing it. That's not
easy to do, especially in this day and age with
social media, with the extensive coverage the debate shows where
he had people killing him every day, picking things apart
Michael Jordan Magic. They never had to deal with things
(08:02):
like that. So while I know there he has his
detractors out there, and certainly this is a year that
hasn't been great for him, but Lebron James did live
up to the hype, and that's odd, that's unusual. So
I think last night was just the latest reminder that
this is one of the few guys that was hyped
(08:24):
as a prodigy from a young age and actually lived
up to the hype. That's all good and well, and
it was well stated by you for a historical standpoint, Chris,
but you would agree. I mean, you're not You're gonna
You're not at least gonna give a paragraph of love
to him for that. It's unbelievable. You you already ready
to go. I could just yeah, that's fine, but but
(08:47):
but but but but no, not at least give that's
in you know, rob you and not you've best. I
just said that you just you. You nailed it on
the historical reference on Howard fits in. I get that.
If I if it was Kyrie or Bryce Hard or
any any of them. No, I don't know any of them. No, no,
(09:12):
moni monie. Issue with it is as much of you
just put into all of that, and the historical standpoint
and the love. Where was the love last night when
the moment happened, Chris Bussard? Where were his teammates? Where
were the Laker friends in Los Angeles? He didn't do
this in Denver, or did this in Brooklyn? He did
(09:34):
it at home with the Lakers and and go we'd
Bill Plaski's column in the La Times. If you didn't
want if you didn't watch it yourself. That's the part
that I can't get over. I can't get over about
a guy who's done all that he's done, accomplishes, accomplished
all that he's done, kept his nose clean, did all
these other things. Chris, and people on this day act
(09:57):
like it was just any other day. It was so disappointing.
As I watched, and supposedly the NBA told him not
to stop the game. The hells strip the hell with
the NBA. What's the fine you're gonna give me, Give
me a fine, I'm stopping the game. I just don't
even understand that. I don't buy that for one second.
They didn't stop the game. The NBA told him. I'm
(10:20):
telling you that the Lakers could have still stopped the game.
I don't care what the NBA. He's fed so many
people in this league over the last sixteen years, Chris
am I right, no question, no question. So why in
the world are they gonna do him like that and
cheat him? And where were the fans? I just don't
even understand that these are I guess these are the
people who are who covered up his mural twice. I mean,
(10:43):
this is amazing on the non love, and I know
that people are not happy that they're not gonna make
the playoffs. Chris, I got it. But there's a time
to take a moment and pause and give credit where
credit is due. And nobody did it last night for Lebron,
not his teammates, not the opponents, not the fans in LA.
(11:03):
What does that say about Lebron sixteen years old and
passing Michael Jordan all the numbers, all the points, all
the assists, three championships, all the finals appearance. It said
something about him when people won't even stop to give you,
give you the honor he had to go hug Caruso.
Nobody even came over when you saw the video. The
(11:26):
thing when I was watching it, am I wrong? No?
I'm asking you, well, I think you make a good point.
I'm gonna address it. Firstly, watching it, I was surprised
that none of his teammates, like I was expecting them
to surround them and hugging and you know, all the
fives all around something. I mean, he first he caught
(11:48):
up with Rondo, and I mean, here, Rondo. You know
we've seen him out with it at the Duke game
or a football game, like they've hung out together, so
they must have a decent relationship. But the hug was
a little lukewarm. It was luke warm. It was like
the hug you get all did it my man? You know?
And then like you said, he found his way to
(12:09):
Caruso and he hugged Caruso right like he was like.
And then after he hugged him. He said, what's your name?
Who are you? I mean that it was like it
was like that to do the high school. You really
don't know. He didn't know. I was surprised. Now I
will say this, it is possible. I'm just I think
this is a realistic possibility that the other players didn't know.
(12:31):
I don't buy that for one second, Chris, don't you
think they're keeping track of Lebron James points in there?
It was everywhere all over espnywhere. I know they knew
that he was gonna break the record that night, but
they might not have known that that point, that's when
he hit his thirteenth point. That's even when they made
the announcement, was keeping it in his head. Even when
(12:52):
they made the announcement, it still was lukewarm. The whole thing,
even the crowd reaction when they made the announcement. Well,
let me ask to answer you on that. I was waiting.
I look, I get it, I get it. I wish
they had given him more love. But look, let's face it,
Lebron James is not yet a Laker in that you know,
(13:14):
in the sense that I mean, he's not viewed as
a laker he's If he had done that in Cleveland,
it would have been major love. If he had done
that in Miami, it would have been major love. He's
not viewed as a Laker yet, he doesn't need to
be viewed as a laker. He's an all time great player.
Break the record yet he passed. But that was only
(13:37):
got to number four. It was a big enough deal
for him. It was a no. But but it was
a big enough deal on all everything it was covered.
It wasn't like it wasn't covered. Wait a minute, and
we now, but he would have been officially break erect
to him, it was a huge deal. The media is
always looking for an angle, you know that. But at
the end of the day, he didn't break to pass
(14:00):
time and it's not a big deal. We do that
every time he passes. Somebody's gonna pass a few more,
we're gonna have. We didn't do anything when he got
the assists, Mark, we got broke into the top ten.
This is passing Michael Jordan. We have though. We do
have the audio of the crowd last night at the
Staples Center. That's so nice. I think that's you Rob No,
(14:27):
but that's what I'm saying. Look, his first year when
he came here, he obviously it wasn't really a full
fledged rivalry because he and Kobe obviously never met in
the finals. There's a little bit of gap in their ages,
but in terms of who was that best player of
that era on the perimeter, there was a real rivalry
(14:48):
between Lebron and Kobe and still is in the fans eyes.
And so when Lebron comes to the Lakers, Kobe fans
are I rate. We saw that with the defacing of
the Murals. Then Lebron gets here and the season has
been a disaster. But when Kobe a large part because
of things he's done, and now I'm telling you to me,
(15:08):
it does make sense, as unfortunate as it is, because
if this season we're going great, if they were the
fourth seed, then I think the fans would have been
all up into it, and Chris and so with his teammates.
But the way it's gone, they don't view him yet
as a full fledged Laker like Kobe, Magic, Kareem Shock,
(15:30):
any of those guys. I think you're giving him a
benefit of the doubt that he doesn't deserve. From this
standpoint that when Kobe broke the record to pass Michael Jordans.
He was in Minnesota, and go, Chris, go. Look at
the YouTube of the crowd reaction to a visiting player
when he did it. It was unbelievable in Minnesota. So
don't tell me that because he ain't a Laker that
(15:51):
they didn't do that. They're supposed to relate. The gains
are salty. They're salty, they were put light. They gave
him a polite applause because they're upset. That's it, That's
what it is. It's gotta be you gotta be bigger
than that in the moment. You gotta be bigger than
that in the moment you do wouldn't be rob you.
(16:13):
You'd feel you do the same thing. I'm not I'm
not a fan. I'm a reporter. Told whatever, you do
the same thing, and and and Bryce Harper and Mike
Trout big today. Why are you bringing up that? Stop it?
That's such a crutch. Stop all right, you'll turn the
way in. Were you disappointed about last night? Why did happen?
Lebron's gonna calling? I think lebrono calling on this with
(16:34):
me or the lack there of eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven, nine, nine, six, sixty

talking Lebron James last night. Great moment for Lebron, Very
happy for him, but a bit bitter sweet because, as
Rob Parker correctly pointed out, it wasn't quite the celebration
we expected. I think Lakers fans are salty, not just
(18:47):
with Lebron, but with the whole season and in part
with Lebron, and that's why it was the way it was.
But let's see what the callers think. Robe. All right,
let's get it kicked off with a Tom and Nashville.
You're on the odd Fox Sports Radio. What's up Tom? Uh? First,
I want to say, huge fan of the show, Thank you,
thank you, Bud and uh And the point I want
(19:09):
to make is, uh, what what the Lakers for the
last four or five years, they were called no playoff teams? Right?
Five years? Come this? This would be the sixth straight years.
If it was Lebron James then and gives these guys
he's at least true to turn his organization around. Baker
(19:29):
and I was ungrateful fans. I'm a Laker fan. I'm
grateful fan sitting there. It didn't give that man to
love and appreciation for the game that he deserves. And
if I with him, I would request the trade tonight.
Are you serious? You're not serious? Hey, Tom, did we
lose you? He's gone? He didn't have the heart for
(19:53):
the debate. Yeah, Tom, I mean Chris was asking you,
I don't know why why you hung up? He wasn't
yelling at you, and like, right right, no, I'm not yelling.
I want to hear. I'm gonna say this though, I'm
gonna say and and you know you can say too far.
You can say, you can say I'm a Labar and Hayter,
but he was disrespected last night. I'm telling you, Chris,
I think that they did him a disservice. Well, I
(20:14):
don't care what this disrespect. He's one of the greatest
players who play whoever Poo's ever played, no doubt about it.
Don't you don't poo pool a moment like that? So
think about I mean, they chanted it what we want
Kobe the other night when he was at the free
throw line. Ye, like they're they're salty. I agree with you. Now, Look,
(20:34):
I will say it wasn't breaking the record. I think
that would have been if they had done it, then
it would have really stood out. And it did stand out,
no no doubt. But and I get their disappointment with
the way things have gone. But he deserves more love.
But that's too far. Don't you think requesting a trade? Oh,
he ain't going nowhere. He can't here to live and
(20:56):
he had so that's out of the question. I don't
where trade me to New Orleans or Anthony Davis, I
don't think so. What about Kyler in Nebraska? You're in
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up? Kyler, Hey, guys,
has a good one. What are you guys up too?
A man a little bit. Hey, I'm a big fan
(21:17):
of the show, as you guys know, even visit Lebron fan.
But uh, I think it's absolutely ridiculous that Doc Rivers
can stop the game and honor di Vitsky just for
coming into the game, and Lebron can't even get some
love for passing Michael. Absolutely, that's just absolutely Doc Rivers
(21:37):
grabbed the mic and stop the game. Great. I thought
that was ridiculous. They didn't even teammates came and surrounded him, nothing,
They just go on with their business normal playing out,
didn't didn't give him any kind of respect. I thought
he was completely disrespected in his own problem last night.
That's what stood out most to me was the teammates like, no,
(21:57):
you know, they didn't surround him, just surrounded him much
pounded him on a guy who never plays that's exactly
yea crazy and you know what it looks and and
I wish it hadn't happened, because you know, I think
Lebron deserved a lot more than that. But it speaks
(22:20):
to the level of anger and dysfunction within the team.
That's what it speaks. No, there's no doubt are hurt,
and they're fractured, and and they don't they're not feeling Lebron.
That's what it is. You got time for another one?
We do? What about David and Nebraska? You're on the
odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. David, Hey, thanks so much, fellas. Look, man,
(22:45):
I thought I was the only NBA fan here in Nebraska.
But anyway, let me say that I love I love
y'all show man. I look forward to getting home night
and listen to him. But but yeah, look like a
few of us here in Nebraska, do you care about
the NBA. I've been a Laker for forty years, and look, fellas,
I know what you're saying. I can't speak for how
his teammates reacted or how other players in the league reactor,
(23:07):
because I don't know nothing about that relationship. But what
I know, why why do I the Laker? Fair? I
don't know what do Lebron? I don't know him anything. Man,
you don't know if you don't owe him. Waymen, you
don't owe him on a moment like that where you
pass arguably the best player uh in the game and
you can't like give him a thunderous ovation or stand
(23:29):
up for more than eight seconds. I just thought it
was lame. Yeah. I may not get you, Rob, I
feel you, man, but I mean, look, first of all, Lebron,
it's not like he's been here for fifteen years, like
he's you know, he's he's from La or anything like that. Yeah,
maybe he should have got a little more applause or whatever,
but look, man, my team's worse since he got here
the last dude. But what I didn't ask you, David, Like,
(23:52):
let's hypothetically, if they were still in the fourth seed
and there hadn't been all of this drama and this function,
would you and do you think the average Laker fan
would have felt differently and would have gave him this
huge ovation last night? Yeah? Probably, But look, man, he
just ain't gonna be one of us, and I probably
(24:13):
until it's the title, fellas, I mean, that's just the realism,
you know. But Lebras the title, I think he'll be
more accepted into the Laker for family or whatever, if
you will. But you know, right now, man, I mean,
you come in, you try to trade my whole team,
and then you then you pretend like you don't understand
why they don't want to play with you. Yeah, make
that trade, you know, a D for Lebron right now,
(24:35):
I take it, Thanks fellow, all right, thanks David for
the call. You know that's the sad reality, right but
but Lebron Christians supersed Team Loyalty, Team Bread. But unfortunately,
I think that's the sad reality. Uh yeah, it's unfortunate.
All right, Well, Lakers Nation ever embrace Lebron. We'll get
(24:57):
into that and so much more with FL Super Bowl
champion Greg Jenny's that's next. But first let's bring in
for her debut of the night. Yeah, Carson, what's up.
Good evening, gentlemen. Hey deb real quick, Yeah, you will
watch him last night. Yes, wasn't that lame? It was?
It was stunning. It was it was weird. I expected,
(25:17):
obviously the game to stop. I saw that the Lakers said,
the NBA asked them not to, but but no fanfare
at all for a few minutes, and then even when
they played the tribute videos, it was just weirdly, like,
like you said, golf collapse. You know, it wasn't a
raucous I get that a lot of Lakers fans don't
feel warm and fuzzy about him right now. But he's
still one of the greats of all time, and he
(25:38):
just passed Michael Joy. They deserved respect, absolutely, all right, Absolutely,
you were right, Rob. That was a good point earlier
about they should have stopped it anyway. They should have.
You say, what was the league on it? What's the
fine that the Lakers camp pay? Exactly? Exactly, we'll start
in the NFL. Speaking of getting paid, Broncos have traded, well,
Broncos are doing the paying, I should say Denver treating
(26:00):
Case Keenum and a seventh round pick to Washington for
a sixth rounder, so he and Colt McCoy will have
to duke it out to see who's gonna be the
Redskins starter. And nine News, Denver says the Broncos are
not only going to pay Keenum a five hundred thousand
dollars restructure bonus, they're also going to pay half of
his seven million dollars salary he's due for the upcoming season.
Steelers agreed to a three year deal with center Marquise
(26:22):
Pouncey worth thirty three million bucks. And in NBA News,
you guys were talking about lebron James Lakers are gonna
put Lebron on a minute's restriction and likely won't be
playing him in back to back nights. Have a double
header tonight in the NBA on TNT eight eastern tip
off for the Pacers and the Bucks, and then ten

And while some sad news from Major League Baseball, the
family of Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Siever announced he
has dementia and he will be retiring from public life.
He'll return to his vineyard in northern California. You want

It's great to talk to him. He's a Fox Sports
NFL analyst also a Super Bowl champion, and he knows
all sports, so we will not just limit this knowledge
to football. We are bringing in the one and only
(28:32):
Greg Jennings. Mister Jennings, what's up man? How You'm excellent? Wild?
Are you on vacation now? Man? You try where you've been?
You've been on an island or something with the fan? No? No, no, no,
they got school. That's right. You up in Minnesota? Huh? Absolutely?
(28:56):
Hey Greg, we want to talk on some basketball before
we get to football with you. What did you make
of what happened last night at Staples? You know, Lebron
passes Michael Jordan's like a few of his teammates come
up to him. It was none of the opponents, didn't
he you know, came over to acknowledge it. And then
(29:16):
the fans were just lukewarm. I mean, it was like
he was an opposing player being, you know, given applause,
rather than like one of the greatest players who ever played.
What did you make of that? Yeah? I thought that
was very disappointing from a spectator standpoint, just watching that.
(29:37):
A guy who accomplished a feat like that, he deserves
a lot more. And I think, you know, I thought
honestly the Lakers organization for not making it more of
a bigger deal. Understanding in the situation, everybody's a little
bitter about what's going on and the playoffs, but all
(29:58):
of that aside, when a player of his caliber, Lebron
James caliber, an all time great, accomplishes the feat like
that's a passing one of the arguably, in my opinion,
the goat, the numero uno goat. It's he deserves more
than what we saw him get last night. So I
(30:18):
was disappointed as a fan. Um, as a former player,
you don't you say you don't expect anything, but you
definitely you want something more than what he got. Now,
I just feel like he should have. He deserved a
lot more than what happened. No, no question, no question.
Do you I think obviously he is not viewed by
(30:40):
the fans in LA as a Laker. Yet what do
you think it'll take. It'll have to will have to
happen for them to embrace him as a Laker. Well,
I think we all understand why he came there and why, um,
what the goals are with him coming to an organization
(31:00):
with as rich history as the Los Angeles Lakers to
bring them back to prominence. And prominence is not the playoffs.
It's not a first round out of the playoffs. It's
it's NBA championships. So I think until that happens, he
will never be looked upon as a Laker because he
(31:22):
would not have established himself as a Laker or great. Yeah,
did he pass Michael Jordan points in a Laker uniform,
of course, but none of that really happened with him
being a true Laker. That happened with him being a
cavalier and a heat So these fans understand that this
(31:42):
is this is a guy. We understand the talent, we
understand the greatness, but look, you understand what is that
What is on our play is what the expectations of
you are when you took this on. So um, I
think he understands that, he understands that. He fully aware
he's a competitor. He's disappointed with the outcome of the
(32:03):
season and where they are, and um, I don't think
that the Laker we should hold the fans responsible for
the way they're treating him because of the expectations, because
he knew their expectations going in, even though it was
a bad team last year in the year before, and
he was gonna have to overcome a lot, but that's
(32:24):
what he's been known to do. You gotta get it done. Hey,
when we filled in the three of us on Undisputed,
I just remember Greg and Chris talking about how the
Lakers were gonna make the playoffs, and there was one
lone wolf who sat there dealing with this stuck out.
(32:45):
You think the beat to the NFL? Think you think
a b is missed big chess? I missed a big
chess right now? Hey, Robert, you know what I you know,
I know how to respectfully ball out and and say
you know what, Yeah, the Lakers they disappointed and you
were right. Is that what you want to hear? Yes? Yeah,
(33:09):
here's that. Greg. I don't care years. You just made
his day. I haven't told him that yet. I can't
give myself to say it. All right, Greg, let's move
to the NFL. Uh Antonio Brown, who you have a
relationship with the The talk is that everybody seems to
think he's going to end up with the Raiders. I
(33:30):
mean it's not for sure, but that's the heavy speculation.
Do you like him there? Obviously as a receiver, you
need a quarterback that can get you to football. Derek
Carr has had his moments. Do you like that combination
and do you think a b can you know, continue
to have a prolific career there with the Raiders and
Derek Carr If that's where he ends up first, I
(33:54):
would say that. I think Antonio Brown in any situation,
you get better as an offense. You have an electrifying
player on the offense side of the ball that can
drastically impact and change the course of the game. However,
I don't think Oakland is that place for him when
(34:14):
I look at Oakland understanding what they're trying to do,
what they were able to, what they got rid of
in Amari Cooper, and we see what the potential is
there with a younger player in their inability to really
want to nurture that. And I get it they're shifting
and changing the culture. But you're bringing in a veteran
(34:37):
player that has in most eyes ruffled and been a
part of the ruffling in the kind of falling apart
of the Pittsburgh Steelers culture. So I don't see that
being a great fit with the young quarterback. Obviously, if
we're just playing football, Yeah, will he make plays. Will
(34:57):
they have flashes? Of course? Can he get the number? Yes?
How effective will that be off the field in the
meeting room with the younger players? Obviously you still have
a Jordy Nelson. Then we would see what that situation
would look like. Um, to kind of balance the personalities there. Um,
I just I don't like it personally for ab or
(35:20):
for the open ratings. Last thing, Greg, we only got
about thirty seconds. Would you be disappointed if you found
out that Kyler Murray had lifts in his shoes or
or put continent or something. I'm just asking you if
they remeasure him again, which I guess they are going to,
and he goes back down to five nine, would that
(35:40):
bother you? No, it wouldn't bother me. But for me
understanding the way you're measured at the combine, you don't
have shoes on. Oh well, whatever it is they said
that that they're gonna remeasure them. They think that, uh,
he did something to lift his height. I'm just going
by a story was like when when you measure at
the combine you have grays on. That is it. So
(36:03):
I'm trying to figure out what are they What did
they measure him? What don't they allow him to put
on his feet? If anything? Did he maybe he had
something underneath the socks. No, when I say nothing, you're bare,
said Grays. Okay, so you know, yeah, gray shorts, yeah, leggings, kites,
whatever you want to say that every player. They do
(36:26):
that with every player because they're trying to figure out
what happened between uh uh when he was the last
time he was uh because he measured measuring in seven eight,
said Oklahoma. I would be so disappointed. I just I
can't believe that Kyler Murray would even do something like that,
even if it were possible. Right, It sounds like it's
not even possible according to Greg Right, but I don't
(36:47):
know why would they were you measure him then if
he was in bare field, I would I would have
I would have loved to see. Um what how they man?
I missed that Parker tyically, you know they aired that
and with a proto pipe guy that that highly recognized
and obviously potentially the number one draft pick. We can
(37:08):
see him being measured. So everyone goes in there literally
stripped down. The only thing you have on the short
he's lined up against the wall and then your height
is your hike. Yeah, look we we We had Kyler
Murray on our show at the Super Bowl, and I
thought he was I think I'm five ten. I was
(37:29):
a little taller than Yeah. I thought maybe I'm five eleven. No,
You're not five eleven. Trust me. I had he I
had the air vapor max on, so maybe that game. No,
you had those blows on? All right, Greg, thanks a lot, man.
We appreciate the time as always. And where are my wings?
You on me? Oh? Man, you know what I got you?
(37:50):
But check out check out Hey, check out Ward and
Hayward and the scene. Oh yeah, talk about it? All right,
all right, we got you. Just pay up my wings.
You ain't, Chris both all right. Radskin fans must be
crying themselves to sleep tonight. I'll explain. Next it's The
Eye Couple of Fox Sports Radio. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Odd Couple with Chris Broussard and
(38:11):
Rob Parker weekdays at seven pm Eastern four pm Pacific
at Farmers Insurance. We know the sound of a perfect
hot air balloon landing and a Leston perfect one. I've
seen it covered it, doctor Farmers. We are Farmers under
written my farmers took fire insurance exchanges and affiliates products
unavailable every state. I'm gonna let dismarnate a little because
(38:33):
I know Rob Parker is in heaven right now. Just
remember Rob, I'm oscar your Felix. As long as we
get our show named back from those bastards in the Chicago.
I'm sorry strong and I say that Rob Jeeke saying, oh, no,
you've been You've been towing the line the last few day.
I gotta calm down. You've really been getting up there. Okay, anyway,
(38:58):
let's move on to the NFL just for a little while, right, Yes,
it is a TV theme song. Yes, and this is
the Odd Couple theme song, the legendary Odd Couple. Yes,
all right. As Dad announced earlier, the Denver Broncos are
trading case Keenom to the Washington Redskins for a sixth
round draft pick in the twenty twenty draft. They'll also
(39:22):
get well. Washington gets a seventh round pick from Denver
as well in next year's draft. I gotta admit this
for the Redskins. Look, I get it. You need a quarterback.
Alex Smith. Hopefully he can come back and play at
some point, but that seems to be in question. But
if you're going to kind of look for your new quarterback,
(39:44):
why not go after Josh Rosen? I mean, case Keenom
is serviceable, he's certainly better than Colton McCoy. That's who's
there right now, Colton McCoy. Case Keenom has to step
in there as a starter. He's more of a starting
quarterback than Colton McCoy is. But if I were them,
and it's true that Josh Rosen is available, why not
(40:06):
go after him. I don't know, maybe they're asking for
too much, or maybe he's not available yet. Well wait,
case Keenham, he's not your future, so at best your
mediocre next year. But but but the Washington's football team,
and that's what I call him, Washington's football team. It's pathetic.
(40:28):
It's been pathetic. Go look look at the Lucky. They
haven't made back to back playoffs in about twenty five years,
I mean, which which is unbelievable when you think about
what that organization used to be. Chris, you know it.
It used to be a powerhouse, when they used to
win Super Bowls and run over people. And now look
at go look since Daniel Snyder brought that team. The
(40:48):
bad luck, the bad drafts, the bad mistakes. It's just
over and over and over. So is this this is
not surprising? You're right? Maybe wait, maybe go all in,
Maybe wait to see if, if, if there's gonna be
a quarterback available in Arizona. You know what I mean.
You're right, it's the thing you have to Why are
you jumping on another journeyman? That's what they do. You
(41:10):
have to find And this doesn't go just for the Redskins,
but you're right, they've been a horrible franchise. But I
would say to the Giants and I in New England
obviously has Tom Brady, but they gotta find their next
quarterback eventually too. Like these teams that don't have that guy,
you need to be focused on finding that guy because
you can't win a period league without that guy, not
(41:31):
consistently unless your defense is spectacular. Yeah, no question about it.
So very disappointed by Washington's football team. As you call them, Rob,
I couple Fox Sports Radio, Christ and Rob. Keep it locked, folks,

(42:14):
for a free rate quote. And we started off the
show talking about Lebron james historic achievement last night. He
surpassed Michael Jordans, in many people's eyes, the greatest player
of all time, to become the fourth leading scorer in
NBA history. Great achievement for Lebron was not received and
(42:36):
celebrated the way both Rob and I think it should
have been by fans at the Staples Center. Obviously, these
fans have not truly embraced Lebron as a full time
pure Laker and it showed last night. But one thing
that this achievement by Lebron has sparked Rob is a
discussion of the goat. And we have this. You know,
(42:59):
this is always out there, who is better Lebron James
or Michael Jordan who is the greatest player of all time?
And obviously there are some people that think it's somebody else,
Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain. There
are many names you could throw into it, but the
two most I would say most prominent today are Michael
(43:23):
Jordan and Lebron James. Would you agree with that, Rob, Yeah,
I would agree with that. And you and I both
have Lebron his second greatest player of all time, behind
Michael Jordan. And I was now right now right, I
was on First Things First this morning. And Nick Wright
are our colleague. We had him on the show last week.
(43:44):
He of course thinks Lebron is the greatest player of
all time, and so that now even now can he
admit or he can't even admit that anything's going on
here or no, well no, I mean he is admitted
that Lebron has not had the greatest year. I believe
he's admitted it. As a leader, he certainly has questioned
(44:06):
Lebron's ability as a gem to your point that he's
find great talent to put on a team. But he
makes a statistical, like an analytical argument for Lebron. And
he actually tweeted something earlier saying that when it's all
said and done. It won't even be a debate, which
(44:28):
I agree it's not a debate. I think Jordan is
clearly the better player. Uh and look Lebron, like I said,
I believe he's number two. But I want to throw
it out there for our listeners, Rob. I believe there's
a clear cut case, an airtight case from Michael Jordan
(44:49):
as the goat ahead of Lebron James. And I want
to make it today, and I want to get your
response and your reaction, and of course get the callers
and the listeners action. But and I've talked about some
of this on First Things First today, but I don't
base the Jordans over Lebron argument solely on the championships.
(45:11):
And some people get locked into that, oh it's just
about the rings or you just because Jordan has six
championships and Lebron has three, you know that's the only
advantage he has. No, Oh, no, that right, championships is
a part of it. Whenever, whenever you hear that, that
drives me crazy because they act like like Michael didn't
do anything else. I just don't even get that, like
(45:32):
he was Robert Ory or something. Yes, he who got
And when I think as seven rings, and when you
give him the ten straight scoring titles and some of
the other stuff, it's it's it's like it never happened. Well,
that's that's a good point. Like one thing I think
for the Goat, and I think this is criteria that
anybody would agree on, is that you have to be
(45:53):
individually dominant, not only an impact on the game, but
also statistically because all these sports, baseball, football, basketball, statistics
are important and if your statistics correlate with winning, didn't,
they're really substantial statistics. So you have to be individually
dominant from a statistical and impact standpoint, and then also
(46:17):
winning you have to be dominant from a team winning standpoint.
That's why Bill Russell, in my view and most people's,
i'd say, is not in the Gold conversation. He's got
eleven rings. He was the lynchpin on every single one
of those championship teams, but he only average fifteen points
for his career. He shot forty four percent from the floor.
(46:40):
He was not the best individual player in the lead.
It was clearly Will Chamberlain. So while Russell was team
wise in terms of winning, incredibly dominant, he didn't have
the individual statistical dominants in my view, to wreck to
be considered the goal. And again, let me say this, Rob,
we gotta tell this to people. You nitpick when you
(47:04):
differentiate between the all time greats, because they're fantastic, right.
There were all great players in their own right. So
you have to go and you gotta look, and you
gotta wonder about the era. Who did he play? Who
did he be? You start nitpicking about everything, that's what
you done. Yes, he had a better teammate, he had
better coaches, he had better this he played in that
(47:26):
kind of ballpark. Do you know what I mean? Right?
Like that, that's what you do, right. So here's my
case for Jordan as the goat over Lebron number one.
Michael Jordan had no weaknesses, no weak There was not
one part of his game that you would point to
and say was a weakness. Now, some people might say, well,
(47:47):
he wasn't a great three point shooter in his day.
That was not a weakness. No, because the right nobody
shot threes that much, and you had a Reggie Miller
or Ray Allen here or there, but it wasn't right.
There wasn't a huge, huge part of the game though,
And I would contend, and I think most people would
understand this. If Michael Jordan played today, he would be
(48:07):
a better three point shooter. And Chris, here's the evidence
why you know this. When he came into the league,
he was known as a dunker, right right. He developed, Yes,
he developed being a shooting range, Yes that that was developed,
and became a pretty good three point shooter, you know,
serviceable for that time for sure. I mean we all
(48:30):
remember the finals, I mean the NBA Finals. What he
hit seven in the first half against Portland, so he
you know, I don't consider that a weakness at all.
Lebron does have a glaring weakness, and it's the foul shooting,
and that is a weakness in his era. That's not
something you can just say, oh, he's not a big
(48:50):
part of the game. No, that that's a weakness, all right.
I also think while Lebron certainly is a better passer,
there's no question about it, Jordan was a great passer.
I think Jordan was a better finisher at the rim.
I think Jordan was a better defender, even though both
are really good defenders. Jordan was more of a tenacious
(49:12):
defender and he was the defensive Player of the Year
one time and a nine time All Defensive Player All
NBA Defense, whereas Lebron was six time All NBA Defense. Jordan,
even though he was shorter, had a better post game
than Lebron. Lebron has not exposed people in the post
(49:36):
like he should. And you can't stop him at the rim.
We've been talking about this for years. If Lebron would
have ever decided I'm gonna do this and just right
post up. Yeah, he can't be stopped, especially in today's
day and age. But well, you can't talk to you
about Nakim Elijahan of David Robinson, of The Linzo Morning,
(49:58):
Patrick Ewing. Jordan was finishing at the rim and play
having a post game with guys like that in the league. Now,
I'm not saying he was posting Patrick Ewing, but when
he posted a guard, you and it's still around there.
You he's still around the rim and can help and
and and I also think Jordans fit into a system better.
(50:21):
Jordan was not ball dominant that, but it wasn't dribble dribble, dribble,
dribble dribble. Go look at some of the old YouTube's
of Michael Jordan he did not over dribblen. This is
not just a knock on Lebron, but a lot of
players of this nowadays. Right, that's more common, but that
that makes it tougher on your team. Who's the best
(50:42):
team in the league, Golden State, they don't have anybody
that over dribbles. You know, look at San Antonio when
they won their championships, they didn't have anybody that over dribbled.
Team basketball, you don't need a guy dribbling for fifteen
seconds of the shot clock twenty seconds. And Michael Jordan,
even though he shot a lot, he didn't over dribble
(51:03):
like Lebron has done throughout his career, and that makes
it easier to play team basketball, which does lead to
more winning on the championship level. So I don't I
think just from a an eye test basketball game standpoint,
and look, Lebron, I guess you'd have to give him
a better rebounder. He's averaged seven and a half of
(51:26):
his career, Jordan average six close to six and a half.
So Lebron's average one more rebound per game than Jordan.
But he's three inches taller than what sixty pounds Lebron
more right, so I could I mean, Lebron's the size
of Carl Malone. I could argue that Jordan is a
better rebounder for his size. But if you want to
give that to Lebron, if you did a pound for pound,
(51:48):
you know, like that inch for inch, pound for pound,
whatever you want calling the resume, of course, you know, look,
we all recognize how Lebron James put the Eastern Conference
on lock to the point where other teams in the East,
other great players were shook. They just knew they couldn't
beat him. They were almost defeated before the series began.
(52:11):
But Michael Jordan did that to the entire league. That's
the difference. He didn't just do it to the East,
he did it to the whole league. And finally, Michael
Jordan never had that Dallas moment like Lebron. And I
know Lebron's overcome it, but it never happened, and it
never happened where you melt out in that situation. And
(52:34):
I always say for all the league whenever I argue
with you know, the Lebron's people about about stuff. The
other thing, too, Chris, is just make the list of
all the guys who didn't eat in the Michael Jordan era.
And look at the guys who ate during the Lebron era.
It's just those are facts. No, No, everybody who didn't
get stopped or didn't get a championship during the Lebron era. No,
(52:56):
Jordan kept Patrick ewing, Hakim Elijah on until he you know,
Jordan retired. Yes, you know the first time. David Robinson, uh,
Shaquille O'Neill, Reggie Miller, Reggie Millard, Gary Payton, Kim. I
mean we could go on and on a Nope, they
didn't win in Malone, right, he kept them from getting
(53:19):
a ring. And you're right, as great as Lebron has been,
everybody's eating everybody, even some more than him. Yes, that's
the part that's shocking, right, Durant is eating Steph is
eating Duncan an old Duncan aid during Levinski aide. Yes,
Ja kid got his No, there's no. And even when
(53:39):
Jordan got beat, before he started winning his championships, he
was giving them business, the business, you know. He and
Lebron's not the only one. Magic had the tragic Johnson series. Yes,
Larry Bird scored eight points twice in his first finals appearance,
so it happens, but it didn't happen to Jordan. That's
the that's why he's the goat. When he lost, he
(54:02):
was averaging forty something. Larry Bird, the Great Larry Bird.
Larry Bird is arguably one of the top five players
of all time. I got him in the top ten,
so you could argue he's in the top five. He
said after beating Michael Jordan. I think he's God disguised
as Michael Jordan. Yes, in a loss. So Jordan never
(54:27):
had that moment where he just didn't bring it. So
let's throw it out to the listeners. Rob, I mean,
I want to hear the arguments and those that think
Lebron is the goat, bring your best shot. Do you still,

now as then, I've been following for a long time
(58:03):
and you rib so when I heard you guys try
to separate the older players that said that was a
different r I don't do that. Don't do that. Put
it all together and then say why the thing that came?
And I'll give you I'll tell you why. I said that.
If the that three point line was there in the
sixties of seventy, those coaches were the coach those guys
to hear up that it wasn't. So it was an
inside out game. It wasn't there. It would have Why
(58:26):
didn't they Why didn't they coach them to use it
in the eighties and nineties when it was there. I'm sorry,
why why didn't they coach them to use it in
the eighties and nineties Because a lot of those coaches
that were still around from the sixties, Sery, Larry Brown, guys,
they came here from whose coaches were still there, Not
pat Riley, not Chuck Daily. Well, I mean pat Riley
(58:47):
when it did, because he didn't do it, all right, Hey, hey,
wait a minute, all right, all right, give us your
chake on the Georgian Day just didn't use it. Come on,
go ahead, cut anyway. We got our anyway. I just
wanted to tell you, guys who called on the goat thing,
I don't believe that there's a goat. I love Michael Jordan,
but I love Lebron. I love Lebron, and I'm from
(59:07):
a different era. You have a coatal conscious. I superrated
because George never stood for anything and put pressure on
himself outside that game the way Lebron does. Lebron is
old school in that in that era, and the only
ghat there is to me is Ali you guys that
were good with it. I talked to the stool, all right,
all right, there's no there's No, there's no right answer.
(59:32):
There's no right answer, but we can have a conversation
on who you think is the greatest player. I don't
know why people get so worked up that we can't
even talk about it. How about Eric in California. You're
on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. Hey, guys,
thank you very much for having me no problem. Been
listening to the ship for about a month and I'm
becoming a big fan. Oh, thank you. I appreciate it. Hey,
(59:54):
I got it. Real Chamberlain was a superior, a great
athlete who had a lot of numbers, who needed a
little bit of help to win his two championships. Can
you tell me? I'm just asking a question. How is
that to me? Lebron Chambers a modern day Wilt chamber
I think that dominant in the numbers, neither little help
(01:00:16):
to get over the hup for the championships. All right,
I picked my call off the air. Look, hey, you
guys are great, but how is they different? If you
can explain that to me, I think there. I think
that that's a great comparison. I've heard other people in
the NBA, like executives, talk about that kind of like
Lebron is this era's Wilt Chamberlain, And I think, look,
(01:00:38):
here's the Will was clearly, clearly the best player in
the world at that time, but he did he only
won two championships, and he won his first title in
like his seventh year, and it was the lowest scoring
average of his career to that point. It was twenty
four points a game when he was averaging fifty and
(01:00:59):
forty five and thirty eight and thirty seven. He never won.
And then his second championship he only averaged he le
averaged less than fifteen points a game. And so my
point is that Wilt was similar to Lebron, and that
Wilt was so individually dominant that he was kind of
(01:01:19):
a system. Everything was through Wilt, but he didn't win
until he started letting other guys do their thing and
his scoring average went down. And Lebron similarly, is a
system unto himself and that's a testament to his greatness.
But it's hard to beat a good team. The Russell
(01:01:42):
Celtics that beat Wilt were a team. The San Antonio
Spurs that had been a thorn in Lebron James's side
were a team. The Golden State Warriors are a team.
And when you get a five man team that is
skilled and can shoot the basketball, they're gonna to beat
the one man system no matter who it is. And
(01:02:04):
that's that's why I think they're similar. And that's what
my answer is, Robbed all right, what about Elfton in Atlanta?
You're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What
you got Elfton? Hey, you guys, shout out to the
Golden Girls. People underestimate that show. That was a great show.
It was well written. This good. It was solid. It's
(01:02:26):
better than any good. It was mediocre. It was it
was guy Chris never watched it. That's why he doesn't know.
But listen on. I like what you guys do. Huge fan.
I gotta I gotta see it with Lebron. I'm a
I'm an old school guy. I love Michael Jordan. I do.
(01:02:46):
But if Michael Jordan and Lebron played a game betwenty one,
who would you guys think we're winning first one? That
doesn't matter. That's not how you mention who's the best player?
We got? All that we know? Really why you got
you got two different players there, two different sizes. Yeah,
that doesn't I mean, and it will be who would
be shot if Lebron beat him? More of Jordan one.
(01:03:08):
That doesn't mean it's a five. It's a team game.
I don't care who wins one on one. I mean
that doesn't mean who's the best player, no doubt. Thanks
for the call, though, we appreciate the support. All Right, Yeah,
who's sports. NBA insider Chris Haynes has some breaking news
surrounding Lebron and the Lakers, and he'll share it with

(01:05:41):
is figuring out which way is easier. It's always great
to bring in our next guests. He's one of the
best NBA insiders in the business. Yahoo Sports Senior NBA
Insider and host of the Post It Up with Chris
Haynes podcast. Welcome into the Eye Couple, mister Haynes's what's happening? Man? God,
(01:06:04):
It's always a pleasure, always a pleasure. Great to have
you on, brother. Now you broke some news today. Go
ahead is about Lebron James, go ahead and tell us
what the deal is. Well, I was told, you know,
sources close to m Lebron and the team that after
I believe it was after the Clippers game where it
seemed like that was the game that gentleman as far
(01:06:26):
as their playoff chances, that the front office had had
a conversation with from Lebron's trainer, Mike's Mancia and came
to h agreement on having Lebron James from here on out.
Work around the minutes was stritching around twenty eight to
thirty two minutes and m and back to backs, whichever
(01:06:49):
in where it's the front end or back end. You know,
mancis will check with Lebron and and I let the
organization know and see how he feels about going. But
likely he would sit out one of those back to backs.
And so that's the plan moving for it. It's not
necessarily a shutdown. I'm calling it a cool down for
the rest of the way. But you know, since the
(01:07:09):
Lakers don't have any type of playoff aspirations as a
right now, that that's the plan moving forward with their
main star. Do you think, Lebron, you we've heard before
about cutting minutes from Lebron and all that, and he's
just never let it happen. Do you think he'll limit
himself to thirty two minutes a game? We've never we
(01:07:32):
are all reporting on is the plan. You'll believe it
when you see. But you know what we haven't. We
haven't seen a lot of We haven't seen a lot
of stuff that we've seen this year either, So it
might fit in. He might just realize, dude, this is
a last season. Why should I burn myself? You know
what I mean? And it does I would be there
(01:07:53):
for a total shutdown, why even play? Well, I think
that's where will really have a problem with Lebron. And
they asked him completely shut it down, like you know, look,
you guys know Lebron understands, you know, his place in
the history, and she understands the landmarks that's still out
there waiting to be grabbed, right, you get him to
(01:08:15):
shut down like lead the lead points you know, you
know on the board. You know, you can't get him
to do that. So I think I think this is
you know, this is just me my opinion. I think
that was probably a compromise that was reached and um,
you know, we'll see if Lebron James lives up to that.
I mean, well, by no, I got that. I'm with you, Chris,
(01:08:35):
because I look and I don't blame Lebron. If I
were in his shoes, I would want to pass Kareem
And so you're right, don't leave points on the table. Now.
My only thing is if you're trying to ultimately win
a championship, and at this year, at this age, you
got it hurt this time like never before. I'm just
going on those things, and I get the numbers and
(01:08:56):
why guys want to play, so I'm not trying to
be like totally ridiculous. But at this pace, let me
ask you about last night and the crowd. What did
you make of that? I had a problem with it,
And you know, people saying he's not a Laker yet
and and they're not in the playoffs, so people are mad.
A great player like that reaches a milestone and he
gets a lukewarm receptive reception from the home crowd and
(01:09:19):
his teammates gave him the lamest like congratulatory stuff I've
ever seen. Chris, Am I wrong? Yeah? I think I
think Rob this is this is what this is what
I took away from it two things. I think the
setting was wrong, and I think the timing was wrong.
(01:09:40):
And what I mean by that the setting, how do
he accompan that in Cleveland? You know, it would have
been a big hoop. I would have been a big spectacle. Uh,
you know, they would have paused play, they would have
did the whole shebang. Um, you know. Now, the timing
being that the Lakers are spiraling right now, it just didn't.
(01:10:03):
It just didn't lends itself to having to having a
monumental type of uproar, you know, once he surpassed Michael Jordans.
So I think those two things played played a part.
Like you know, they they're struggling, you know that people
are talking about he's not a real Laker in the
first play, and then out the blue hole, this mouth
phone is coming up. And so it was just timing
(01:10:24):
and the setting as of right now, this was a
bad combination. And I think that equated to why we've
seen the kind of lukewarm response that we saw. It's
the I couple were joined by Yahoo Sports senior NBA
insider Chris Haynes. Chris, we have heard I mean a
couple of games ago, Lebron's at the free throw line,
and some fans, not all of them, but some fans
(01:10:46):
in the Staples Center are channing, we want cold enough
to hear it, you know, Lebron, I believe it's catching
more heat, more negative you know, uh, more criticism than
he has since that Dallas series his first year in Miami.
How is this sitting with him? If you know, or
(01:11:06):
how do you think that this negative reaction he's getting
here in la is sitting with him? I don't, you know, really,
like truthfully, Chris, I really don't know if he fully
grasped what he's up against here in la Um. You know,
(01:11:29):
I remember I recall, you know, earlier in the season,
you know, when he had to check a reporter because
he did he did something, he did something practice and
he he had a letter reporter. No, you know, I've
been doing this my whole career. Where have you been?
And I think I don't I don't know that he's
fully grasped at there are expectations required and expected of him,
(01:11:54):
you know now that he's here with the Lakers, and
you know, that's just what I get from from talking
with him. You know, I remember I spoke with him
last week. He set some time for me and we
talked about his defense when it was clips of him
just getting lost on dal or not putting in the effort,
and he made a thing like, you know, he didn't
hear that, Like he didn't hear that criticism, and you know,
(01:12:17):
he he kind of defended his play and basically said,
you know I do You know, I do what I
do and and if anybody wants to single me out
and think I'm a defensive liability, they have to every
right to switch on me every time. And so I
just don't think he's getting it. And I think that's
just part of you know, him just staying clear social
media and news media. But I don't think he fully
(01:12:39):
grasped yet Steve be on like how much or how
many fans are actually going at him comparing them to
Kobe and and basically calling him out. Yeah, he didn't
know that they. I mean, obviously he wants to win
a championship here, or more than one championship. I'm not sure,
but I don't know that he understand stands like these
(01:13:00):
Lakers fans are like, look, you better win a championship here. Yeah,
this is not a this is not a four year vacation, right,
It's not a four year No, this is this is
pre retirement. I said, at least Jim Brown had the
decency to retire before he came out to Hollywood to
be a movie star. Don't don't give him that courtesy. No, probably,
(01:13:29):
you know what I'm doing where But Chris, that's where
it could hurt if if Lebron, if if he was
viewing this as you know, look, I'm a I'm gonna
play for the Lakers and gif yeah yeah, post career,
then that's where it may have been a miscalculation. But
(01:13:50):
if that's the case, yes it is a miscalculation. But
we all knew that this year wasn't going to be
the season. We all do that now. We didn't know
that it was gonna be this pro season. But you know,
so next year, next year is really going to be
the year. It's really gonna be a regardless of you know,
if they get Anthony Davis or if they get another
(01:14:11):
star or not, Like, this is going to be extreme
pressure on Lebron's game shoulder to to make this team
a championship continuing team off the back, no excuses. So
I think I think everybody's experienced a little bit or
what Laker nation is expecting and hoping for. But next
year is when I think they're just going to let
(01:14:31):
it all out and if the team is not up
to far, you know, that's what everybody's going to get it. Chris,
we got about thirty seconds left being around the Lakers.
Have you gotten any sense for how Lebron's teammates, particularly
the younger guys Kuzma, Ingram, you know, guys like that,
how they're viewing him or feeling about him, you know,
after all the Anthony Davis sagen, because again last night
(01:14:55):
was not a good look. People might read into that
that they got no for him. Have you gotten any
type of feeling for how they really feel? I haven't
gotten that, set Cbech and I think they if there
were any type of ill wheel feelings, they've been smart
to keep that inside, right, all right, I haven't. I
(01:15:19):
haven't been told it, all right, Chris. Sometimes man sometimes
action speaks louder than words. Though, Yeah, you're right about that,
no question, all right, brother, Thanks, Thanks with them. We
appreciate it, all right. Take care of guys, ye ye,
all right, it's our most controversy segment of the week.

next week. Yeah, we'll do some fast all right, guys. Well,
you know our shop talk works. We address one of
the trending topics outside of the world of sports from
this week. And this week was a tough one because
Jeopardy host Alex Trebek announced that he has stage four
pancreatic camera. So we're all pulling for him to fight
(01:18:15):
the good fight. We hope he gets out of this
one healthy and you know, he finished out his contract
with Jeopardy. But it got us thinking you know, Jeopardy
is a great show. We can agree on that one,
but went on forever. What is the best television game
show of all time? Well, in my opinion, my favorite,
(01:18:37):
and I put it up there as the best. Uh,
it's Family Feud one hundred people survey, Top five answers
on the board. Here's the question, bright, I mean, it's
just such an exciting show. You know, it's family It's
just great. I grew up watching it with my family.
But when you were watching it as a kid, weren't
your parents with Paul Because Richard Dawson used to tongue
(01:18:59):
kids someone he would kiss all of them in the mouth.
You know that wouldn't go on now, that would be
me too. No, no, no, you're right, am I right,
you're right. But back then it was just, hey, how
did he kiss people in the mouth? I don't I
don't even get that, Chris, But that's what went on. Yeah,
he was a good host. But look, Steve Harvey's doing
(01:19:20):
it now, right. I think Steve Harvey does a great job.
It's hard sometimes to be a second host of a show.
Especially Steve Harvey's right down the family on the hallway.
Let me go check on Steve Harvey. My top was
Family Feud. I would say, you ready, mine is the
(01:19:41):
price is right? And you know why, Chris that excitement
with the audience when they call your name, Hey, Martin Wie,
come on now you're the next contes all the price
is right. It's iconic, There's no doubt about it. And
they were all running down every down the thing, giving
(01:20:02):
high five. That's so excited. And then you know they
have Bob Barker and then uh the other one. Uh.
They used to have a nighttime version and Dennis James
used to be the host of that one. I even
remember that as a kid. I don't remember the nighttime. Yeah,
it was a nighttime version. I used to come on
at like eight o'clock at night on a Saturday or something.
Have they ever ranked, like done a ranking of the
(01:20:25):
best game shows of all time? My bet would be
the Prices. I looked that up real quick. I bet
you the list of the top game show I bet
you as the price is right now. My favorite three
rode my personal favorites. The three are Family Feud number one,
the Newly Wayed Games number two. Oh, there's some good
(01:20:48):
stuff in the Newly Way Game and the love connection.
The love connection. We'll be like, just pick the best
looking girl. That's all I would say, Look, just pick
the best one. Heydour her on a date. Deb was
involved in game shows resolutely, in fact a full disclosure.
Wheel of Fortune paid for my house. Wow, But but
(01:21:09):
I loved watching because I worked there. I didn't win
anything on the show worked. Um. I loved one hundred
thousand dollars pyramids, remember that? And I loved password. Here
we go in a minute, Ready the password is remember that? Yes?
Wow about Sale of the Century? No, not so that.
(01:21:31):
In the eighties, Yeah, what about car Card Sharks was pretty?
Card Sharks was good? Hire Higher, Yeah exactly, No, that
was fun? Or what about No Wammis No Wammys? But hey,
do you remember what name that tune? Was? Pretty good?
It was? But Alex Trebek had a show early on
in the seventies, Deb, Chris, do you remember what it
was called Concentration? No? No, that might he might have
(01:21:53):
done that, but he did another one. M I don't know,
high rollers with a big pair of dice. I don't
think it was on that long, but I remember that's
what the first time I ever saw Alex Trebett and
he's great at Jeopardy and oh yes it was on
four a year and a half, high rollers. I knew
it wasn't on for long. How the three most iconic
have to be Jeopardy, the Prices Right, and Wheel of Fortune?
(01:22:16):
I guess absolutely, all right, yeah, the two much successful
monetarily are Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy just because they've
been in syndication for such a r time, you know,
since nineteen eighty one eighty two, long time. And aren't
they on during I mean close to primetime? Yeah? Well

At the bottom of the hour, we've got trolling or
rolling coming on with Martin Weiss and obviously great talk
for you, and we'll let you weigh in as well
as we continue to talk about Lebron, James, the Los
(01:23:21):
Angeles Lakers, and now even Kobe Bryant. Rob, you brought
up something very interesting you as was I were very
disappointed in the reception that Lebron received from Lakers fans
and Chris and Lakers teammates. And tell people, so for
all the people all you hate Lebron and all that
(01:23:42):
I've defended him and that he deserved better. If you're
just joining the show, right, I think that it supersedes
Lebron's career, superseded the one year with the Lakers, and
because they're not making a playoff, that shouldn't be the
reason to dis a guy of that stature at a
big moment. That's all I'm saying. You can be disappointed
(01:24:03):
about his defense about it all, but in that moment,
if you're in LA and he accomplishes that in his
home building and they give him a lukewarm reception and
his teammates are lame in congratulating him, I thought that
was a disservice to Lebron. It was disappointing. I look,
(01:24:23):
it's been a horrible year. There's no if, sans or
butts about it. They were so excited when he got there.
They're thinking eventually championship. They're certainly thinking playoffs this year,
even though the not many expected to win a title.
And the fact that, you know, it's been such a
bad year, they don't think of him as a true
Laker yet. And I understand it, but you you're right,
(01:24:47):
this moment should have been much bigger. And I think
the Lakers themselves should have just stopped the clock and
forget what the NBA said. What were they gonna do?
And Adam Silver loves Lebron. I know they cannot believe
the NBA said, don't stop the game? Really seriously, really
to celebrate one of the game's best players and the
(01:25:08):
passing of another great player. How is that bad for
the NBA? Chris Right to stop a meaningless game? And
it's meaningless Denver, you knew he's gonna win that game,
and they underman the only highlight of the night was Lebron.
Come on, look, we've said it, Lebron James has caught
(01:25:30):
more heat and more criticism this year than he had
since his first year in Miami when they lost to
Dallas in the NBA Finals. And I don't think he
foresaw it. I think he felt like his legacy is set,
and it is to a large degree. There's really nothing
that's going to happen here. Look, let's be honest. Lebron
(01:25:52):
can fall off next season, average nineteen points a game.
I don't think that's gonna happen, but average nineteen points
a game and just become, you know, a really good player,
but clearly on the decline, and it wouldn't negatively impact
his legacy. He's already played more years than Michael Jordan,
Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and many other grades. He was,
(01:26:16):
in most people's estimation, the best player in the world
in his fifteenth season, which no other player who's ever
played the game could say. But in LA, I think
Lebron underestimated the negative impact that this would have, if
not in the future on his legacy, then certainly in
(01:26:38):
the present. And the LA fans want a title. They
don't want Lebron to come here on a pre retirement tour,
you know, as if this is just a great place
to have a vacation and play some ball and prepare
for your life after basketball. And I'm not saying that's
(01:26:58):
what he wants to do. I think he wants to win.
And I think the fact that he went, he went
so hard after Anthony Davis has talked so openly about
recruiting other stars to the Lakers. I think he clearly
wants to win championships. But if he doesn't, then Lake,
this is not going to sit well at all with
(01:27:20):
Laker fans. No, I'm with you, and you're in a
market that's used to winning. This isn't going to finish
your career. As Charlotte. I'm sorry. I hate to break
it to you, right, do you know what I mean?
You're not looking at it like, oh wow, Lebron James
graced us with his presence. We're just happy to have
him here, because you're right, as Charlotte would have they
(01:27:42):
would love it, almost Charlotte of New Orleans teams like
they would be happy just to have even an older
Lebron James. But the Lakers are used to superstar. But Chris,
here's my only quite, here's my question. Here's what I'm
fearing now, considering what we just saw last night, which
I thought was disgraceful, I think it only gets worse.
(01:28:04):
And when he passes Kobe, who's next on the list,
I would be shocked, or I should say, I wouldn't
be surprised if they boo Lebron like like they would
take it out, especially if things don't go the way
that they want them, say that they don't get that
second star and it's just okay, and it doesn't look
like they're gonna be winning the championship or something, and
(01:28:27):
I think that they would take it out on Lebron again,
picking Kobe over Lebron and not giving him his due
when he's ready to pass Kobe. Well, first of all,
if he stays healthy, he's going to pass Kobe. Right
He's about thirteen hundred a little under thirteen hundred points away,
So he'll pass him some point, you know, maybe midway
(01:28:50):
through next season or something like that. Look, if they
I mean, I guess it's not out of the realm
of possibility, that would be horrible. It would be ugly,
not only for Lakers fans, not only for Lebron, but
for the entire NBA. It would be terrible and I
don't know, not crazy that happening. I can't imagine that
(01:29:13):
they booed him twice already this year. Uh the other
game they would they were chatting, uh for we want
we want Kobe. He shouldn't be he shouldn't be dealing
with that with Dave. Dave just uh uh painted up
and and his his murals twice, he faced them twice.
There's just so much that has gone on. Lebron doesn't
(01:29:35):
faced this before. Now he just hasn't. Well, this is different.
I don't think now would there be maybe a smattering
of booze possible? Yeah, I guess, but I don't even
foresee that bottom line. I think it's gonna depend on
this now. Again, I don't see them just full fledged
booing him. But what I do see, I think you
(01:29:56):
would hear some booze because especially now, if they were
in the number one seed in the Western things, you know,
you you it might. I guess you can't do this.
Maybe it's something that if things were going bad, because
I think Rob is gonna depend on this how things
are going well. Last night he got boomed on that
big night, he got boom when he missed those two
(01:30:17):
free throws. Did you hear the bulls? No? That but
that's a that's a you know what I mean. But
I'm just saying the game. They're saying, but they but
they're willing to boo him, is what I'm saying. No,
of course they're willing to boo him. I think it
depends on how things go next season. If it's as
bad as this year, then I guess nothing is out
(01:30:38):
of the realm, apologis. And to be honest, if something
like that were to happen, now, if I'm the Lakers,
Let's say the next season is going poorly. Let's say
they don't get Anthony Davis and you're playing badly, maybe
about at the time that Lebron is gonna pass Kobe,
you're maybe in the ninth seed and just struggling, and
(01:31:01):
you know, it's just it's similar to this year. If
I were the Lakers in that situation, I would ignore
it him passing Kobe because it's not the record. I
would just like just let the game play out. Now,
the other media is gonna drum it up, make it
a huge deal. But if I were the Lakers and
(01:31:24):
and things are that bad, I would just let the
game just go on like a normal game. Wow, because
because I wouldn't, and not out of disrespect for Lebron,
but out of protection for Lebron. Because the last thing
you want is for your home fans, the Laker fans,
to boom Lebron James when he passes Kobe Bryant. You
(01:31:50):
don't even want half cheers at half booze. So if
if you get the sense, and I'm throwing out a
big hypothetical, if you get the sense that that is
going to be the case, then I think you just
gotta play. Because again, Rob, it's not the record. I mean,
are we gonna what are we gonna do every time
(01:32:11):
he passes somebody on the points list, the assist list,
are we gonna, you know, make it a huge deal? No,
the next the next thing for him to do is
to get the number one, to get Kareem No. I
get all of that, but I think you know people
(01:32:32):
are saying he's not a Laker yet you know that
you've said that that that that's the way that I know,
I said, that's how that percepts the perception of the
only thing I can think of for last night and
I and I get it. Yeah, I don't. I don't
know as you go forward. Uh, I mean when you
talk about this year, though, Chris, I think you're right.
Everything went bad. There's a lot of things. Remember the
(01:32:54):
whole pizza thing when he's gonna go to Blaze man,
that's how it's another part because he didn't have a
press conference, right, he didn't have a press conference with
the fans. He put out that thing just like, hey,
I haven't been to a pizza part. He didn't say
it was gonna go but but it but it did
come off as that he was gonna be at this
one closest to his house here right in Brent know
(01:33:14):
where it is at that So so that was the feeling.
And then fans waited out remember how hot it was
here and fans waited all day and he never showed up.
So that was another thing. There's just been a couple
of things where he hasn't played right with with the
La fans. And I don't know if he's misread them
or just thought that he's Lebron And it doesn't matter.
(01:33:35):
This isn't Cleveland. It's just as I'm not saying that
as if Cleveland is not just they're not just happy
to have him. They've had superstars plenty of superstars on
Lebron's level before. Yes, I mean that's that's almost like
a birth right. And think about this in LA right now.
You have a team, a team that went to the
(01:33:56):
super Bowl. In LA. You got a baseball team that
went to back to back World Series, right, that's what.
They just made the playoffs. Charges made the playoffs. They
were good. They won twelve regular season games. You just
start looking at all that stuff. People aren't trying to
be and the Lakers or what And the Clippers are
going to the playoffs and the Lakers or what. No,
not in this town. Yeah, I'm telling you if if
(01:34:18):
it's bad next year, I would just keep the game going,
keep the game going. Look, MJ, as great as Kobe
is and was, MJ was different. First of all, he
was Lebron's idol. Secondly, he's widely recognized as the goat.
That is a different thing. But we can't you know,
(01:34:38):
when he passes Kobe, when he passes Carl Malone, you know,
I just think that would be better than him getting
booed and hopefully he doesn't. Hopefully, Look he can make it,
Like next year will be great for them. I mean,
I think it'd be great for the NBA if Anthony
Davis does join the Lakers, and if Kevin I've said
(01:34:59):
it before, if Kevin Durant leaves Golden State, because Golden
States still gonna be a contender, you know, go and
Durant goes either the Clippers or I think even better
than Knicks. And now they're legit like you've always complained
about it. Look, it's one team. We all know Golden
State's gonna win it. If these guys move around, especially
(01:35:20):
going to big markets, flagship franchises, it's better for the
NBA because then you might have six or seveneams that
can legitimately get to the final. That's always better for
a league when it just mixes up and it's just
not as predictable. We all believe that Golden State will win.
That's what we believe, and we would have to be
proven wrong, all right with Lakers fans really boo Lebron
(01:35:43):
when he passes Kobe on the all time scoring list,
is you're turned away? In eight seven, seven ninety nine

it's the I Couple, Chris Brussar, Rob Parker coming to

you on this TV theme show Thursday. We're brought to
you by Truecar. Because car shopping can be confusing. At times,
they hit you with terms like dealer, price list, price invoice,
get you all out of sorts. What you need is
Truecar for protection because truecr shows you what other people
paid for the car you want. That makes it easy
to recognize what really is a good price. When you're
(01:36:50):
ready to buy a new or even a used car,
make sure you visit Truecar to enjoy more confident car
buying experience. What is that hard to hard or something
this is wrong. I remember, but I don't know the name.
I don't know the show South American here or something
like that. This is out. Yeah, so alf didn't have
words like in the beginning. So wow, I don't even
(01:37:12):
remember alfy. That was I used that a lot at
a car talking about it was like a furry uh
creature not not cartoon from out of space, that fury
wind up, the wind up living with a family, and
it was stupid. It was on NBC. It was stupid. Okay.
Usually when something's going bad or something's terrible on TV,
like the game, I always say I'm turning to looking
(01:37:34):
for an alf for you run. That's how how bad
it has to be for me to look for alf Wow. Wow, Okay, anyway,
we brought it up wood fans boo lebron in LA
when he passes Kobe Oh man, we're gonna be interesting
to hear. Let's let's hear. Let's hear it from the listeners.
All right, let's do it. Kyle and Oregon. You're on
(01:37:55):
the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Kyle? Hey,
how are you doing? Doing great? I think I think
what happened last night, I think it's totally deserved. It
goes to the Lakers and you can't make the playoffs
and drinking wine on the sideline. You know, you're you know,
(01:38:17):
you're doing everything that you're not supposed to be doing. Really,
you ain't going there to win. You're going there to
say goodbye or whatever you're trying to do. But uh,
I just think it's out of respect for the game.
I mean, Michael was much better than him at this
point in his career, and that's how I feel about that.
So Kyle, if you were there, you would boo. You
would boo at the date that he passes kolbe Hey,
(01:38:39):
I want to boo, but I definitely want to want
to make it a big deal. It's, you know, one
of the third fourth place. I mean, get us to
the playoffs and then we can talk about something. But
I mean, you're getting beat by everybody in the league
right now. Oh I, we're gonna stand up and chare
for you. I hear you, Kyle, understand a Laker fans
assault planners online one. I get it. Yeah, I told
(01:39:02):
you right. Look, I didn't like what we saw last night,
but I got it. I mean I understood, you know,
I don't think it was justified, but I understood how
they're feeling. I don't love it, but I like it. Well,
I don't like, but I understand. Hey, Dustin and Indiana,
you're on the odd couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's
up Dustin? Going on? Fellows are you? I'm fantastic, man,
(01:39:26):
just must be a part of the show. Yes, well,
I'm coming from Indiana, man, so you know, we're more
of a mid major, you know, so when we get
if we had a talent like a Lebron James, I mean,
I know every man goes about their business differently, but
(01:39:47):
I mean I just feel like, since we're not on
the Lakers at that level of how many superstars that
they've had, I mean they're spoiled. I mean they're spoiled
with amount of superstars. So I can understand maybe from
the perspective on how they've grown up and seen the game.
But man, I mean there we're we got teams all
(01:40:08):
around the country praising Dirk Naviiski even retired. They're stopping
games for him. And I love that. I know, I
loved that. I think it's I think it's beautiful that
they're doing that. And man, that We're not gonna see
very me basketball minds like a Lebron James in our lifetime. Man,
well that's what you're doing it for Dirk. And as
great as Dirk is, no disrespecting and he might play
(01:40:30):
and he might come back and play this year. I mean,
I know, I mean, you know, I got a lot
of respects for Lebron James and what he's accomplished. Man,
you gotta give it to him. I'm sorry. But so
if as an Indiana fan, if Lebron went to the
Pacers and let's just say it was like a two
year victory lap, he wasn't leading you to championships anymore,
but he's just playing out his last couple of years there,
(01:40:52):
you would be cool with that. I mean, he ain't
gonna be able to be he ain't gonna be doing
the same stuff as he's doing in LA. But I mean,
I know where his opportunities lie in LA obviously, But nah,
I mean me personally, no, I gotta I'm an NBA purist.
When I looked at it, I'm a realist. I don't.
I would never disrespect a man who who who's accomplished
(01:41:15):
what he's accomplished. I mean, it's incredible what he's done.
And you know what, last night, a lot of people
that might not agree with what he's done about his
business as a man, and they can have their own opinions,
but you got when it comes down to the NBA
and what he's accomplished, you have to give it up.
You know what. He was disrespected last night, no doubt
about it. Thanks for the call. It clearly meant a
(01:41:38):
ton to him and it's sad that other people couldn't
share in that right absolutely. Ryan in Texas join the
odd Couple Fox Sports Radio. Hey guys, how are y'all
doing today? We're doing great, awesome. I just wanted to
say one Lakers fans are gonna boo him, and I
think it would be in their best interests. Let's just
(01:42:00):
say kind of like what y'a are talking about the
double headers. Uh, if if he has a back to
back game and one of them's away, it would probably
be in their best interest to have him break the
record away from Staples Center, because you know they are
gonna boo him whenever he passes Kobe. But I do
want to you think you think even if things are
(01:42:20):
going better next year, let's say they're the fifth seed
or sixth seed, and you know they're not. Look don't
look like they're going a championship. You don't get Anthony Davis,
but you know Lebron's playing well, the team is playing better,
you don't have as much dysfunction. You still think they
would boo. I think I think you'll get kind of
like a mixed bag. You'll have those fans that are
(01:42:41):
kind of younger, that are happy that they're about to
make the playoffs or in contention, and then you'll still
have the diehard Kobe fans that are just gonna be upset.
I mean, he didn't even he didn't even make it
to LA and his mural was already ruined. So I
think that no matter what, half of the people are
still gonna boom. But I do want to I do
(01:43:01):
want to bring up one other thing. I want to
tie it into kind of football. You know, Tom Brady
and Drew Brees are both about to pass Peyton Manning,
and Drew Brees is on pace to do it first.
And when Tom Brady finally passes Peyton Manning, I don't
think that they're gonna celebrate it so much. And so
I just want to know y'all take on why we're
celebrating so much, you know, passing Jordan and then gonna
(01:43:24):
pass Kobe as opposed to you know, number one. Well,
and we'll say this, Chris, it's because Lebron James is
that that iconic and as it continues to climb up
the ladder, it speaks volume. You wouldn't just ignored until
he got to number one. Passing Michael Jordan's a big deal.
Passing I think Jordan. Passing Jordan is the biggest deal,
(01:43:46):
just because he's widely regarded as the goat and he
was Lebron's hero. When Kobe passed Jordan, it was treated
in a similar way, although it was a better reception
in Minnesota. I do kind of hear what the callers saying,
though I don't know that you have to. I mean,
when he passes Kobe, when he passes Carl Malone, I
don't know that you have to. Obviously we're gonna talk
(01:44:07):
about it right about it in the media, but does
there need to be like a celebration for every milestone.
You know, the other night when when he went tenth
on the assists list, there was you know, we talked
about it. It was celebrated to a degree, but it wasn't.
You know, the game wasn't stopped and all of that stuff.
So I kind of get that, like, look, the next
(01:44:30):
one should be I could understand the next one's Kareem.
When he passes that, then we'll stop, the game, celebrated
and all that. That's not the way we do sports now.
Everything is celebrated every time somebody retires as a farewell
to retire. I'm just saying, but I'm just saying, we
were talking. We do a lot of celebrating, and it
wasn't like that before when I first started covering sports.
(01:44:52):
But I'm saying, everything's a story now, everything is is
bigger than life. To looking for stuff you can remember,
you gotta feed the twe twenty four hour animals that
didn't have Fine with that. I get the media writing
about it and it's being all over television, But if
you're the Lakers or wherever he's at, you don't necessarily
need to stop the game because Lebron became number three.
(01:45:16):
Let me tell you. Can I tell you why you're wrong.
There's no guarantee's gonna pass Calm alone, So there's no
guaranteed it. Okay, I mean we we know, we're gonna
know he's third, we're gonna know he's second or whatever.
You're right, there's no guarantee. That's why whenever we said
we but Lebron gets celebrated, and it's going to get celebrated.
Now you're against them celebrating Lebron is basically what you're saying. No,
(01:45:39):
I'm just saying, you don't have to celebrate somebody for
every single not every single one. But when you talk
about as you climb up for the all time point,
let's do it with assists. He's the first player. Everybody
knows who's on that point. And Assist everybody knows. Everybody
knows kred Right, they know Kareem. Most people don't old
(01:46:00):
Carl Malone second, Kobe Bryant's third. It's almost like the
NFL rushing record, you know. So let's do it when
you get to number one. All right, you awful salty tonight,
because they're not salty. I'm just saying. I'm just saying,
you wouldn't be saying that. That's what twenty I don't
think it's gig. It would be ugly, and not just
(01:46:21):
for lebron It would be ugly for the NBA if
fans boo him and he passed when he passes Kobe Bryant.
So that's all I'm saying, and so that that should
be avoided at all costs. A Pro Bowl quarterback Jessica
shot at his former team. Will get into that and
so much more on trolling or rolling that's next, But
first let's bring in missus Dab Carson for the latest
(01:46:45):
in sports. Dab. Hello, gentlemen, Well, there is a new
quarterback that now has a former team and other former team.
Broncos are trading case Keenom to Washington for a sixth
round pick in the twenty twenty draft. Washington's also getting
a twenty twenty seventh rounder and and nine News Denver
says that the Broncos not only you're going to pay
Keenam a five hundred thousand dollars restructure bonus, They're also
(01:47:06):
going to pay half of his seven million dollars salary,
So Washington is only going to be on the hook
for about three and a half million bucks for Keenam's services. Meanwhile,
the Steelers have agreed to a three year deal with
Marquise Pouncy. The Center gets thirty three million bucks in
that deal, and the forty nine Ers have declined the
option on receiver Pierre Garson's contract, while NBA News Pelicans
(01:47:27):
guard Drew Holiday will miss at least a week because
of lower abdominal strain, and of course Yahoo Sports reporting
that the Lakers are putting Lebron James on a minute's restriction,
likely not going to play him on back to back nights.
Currently underway, Indiana has trailed Milwaukee by as many as
fifteen points, and now the lead for the Bucks is
just one point fifty six. Fifty five Bucks lead the

back to you, Thank you, dab. It is the odd couple.
I am Chris, he is Robbed. We're coming to you
live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios. It's easy
(01:48:55):
to say fifteen percent or more in your car insurance
with Geico. Go to Geico com or call eight hundred

which way is easier. All right, it's time for trolling
or rolling with Martin Weiss, Tom Brady. He's done. Aaron
Rodgers did not have a Pro Bowl season. China gets
(01:49:18):
me right. It's trolling or rolling? What's up? Fellas? Trolling
and rolling? Odd couple, Odd couple of Fox Sports Radio.
Martin weiss. If you guys, if Chris or Rob disagree
with the story, you hear the troll sound. Oh man, hey, hey, hey,
hey hey. And if they agree, you hear the roll
(01:49:40):
sound they selling. So with no further ado, let's get
right to it. Last night, Ray Jean Rondo was caught
sitting far away from his teammates after Lebron's big night
in the Lakers lost to Denver. He predictably caught some
heat from the media, and it caused him to make
an Instagram post. They called the media out, ending it
with quote, congratulations, my brother, keep being great last night. However,
(01:50:04):
Lebron's teammates and fans in the building didn't seem to
be the most congratulatory to him. Rob, Are you trolling
or rolling Rondo's Instagram celebration post now after the fact,
I'm trolling it? Oh man, hey, only from this standpoint.
Shouldn't you your fondest ub be live and in person?
(01:50:24):
Why would I be liking it when I was lukewarm
to Lebron's face when when it first happened. Now I'm
going on Instagram and act like, oh wow, this is cool,
So I'm gonna say definitely troller yeah, I gotta troll that.
I mean, look, Rondo did give him a hug, but
it you know, I don't want to be like I'm
an expert in reading body language, but it just wasn't
(01:50:45):
the celebration that it looked like it should have been.
And also Rondo, I get at a time apparently occasionally
he sits in the stands, but that's just not a
good look. I mean, you should be sitting with your
teammates and all that. So I gotta troll. Yeah, I
gotta troll that. So Lebron deserved the love last night,
(01:51:07):
not just in Instagram a day later, and realistically, had
he showed the love, he wouldn't have never had to
make the post talking about how the media said he
didn't show any love, right, right, right, exactly exactly, trolling
a roll. In Fox Sports Radio, the Boston Celtics went
to Golden State and put a thirty point in whooping
on the Warriors. After the game, Steve Kerr said the
(01:51:28):
team had been playing with quote lack of passion, anger
and intensity. Kevin Durant was asked about that and he said, quote,
I thought we moved off joy now anger. I disagree
with that one Chris. People have been saying that this
is Katie taking a shot at his head, Coach, are
you trolling or rolling that Katie was taking a shot
at Steve Kerr? I am trolling that. I don't think
(01:51:52):
he was taking I don't think he was taking a
shot at Steve Kerry. I think he was just being honest.
One thing I knew about Kad is he's gonna speak
his mind. Sometimes that gets him in trouble or gets
him criticized. But when he sees, you know, some no
name person criticized him on Instagram, he might just speak
his mind and go back at him. You know, I've
(01:52:13):
said things on TV and Kay Deal texts me or something,
go and go at me. He's going to speak his mind.
So he was just like Steve kurs mantra all year
has been we're gonna play with joy. We're at our
best when we play with joy. So I think Kyd
was legitimately like, wait, what a minute, I thought I
thought we were all about joy. Now it's anger, you know.
(01:52:34):
So I just think Katie was speaking his my own
think has any issue with Steve Kerr at all? I'm
I'm with you. I think that he was trolling right, trolling, No, No, No,
I'm controlling the fans or the people that say he's
(01:52:56):
saying that shoe, that's saying that he was taking a shot,
because I belong with you, Chris. It's something that Steve
Kerr's brought up in the past, and he changed it
that night. So if I'm Kevin Durant, I'd be like,
not at all. You said this before, this is the
way we're supposed to be going about it, and now
you've changed it. So I don't think Kevin Durant changed
(01:53:17):
his wheels. I think that Steve Kerr did, So I'm
with Durant. The Broncos are nearing a deal to trade
case keenom to the Washington Redskins. RG three tweeted out, quote,
I'm sure that's what the fans want. Quote. You may remember.
RG three was drafted by Washington in twenty twelve and
called criticism for many Washington fans after an electric rookie year.
(01:53:40):
Since RG three has been released, Washington has had a
lot of trouble finding the long term answer at quarterback
rob Trolling or rolling? Do you like it when former
stars rip and the former organization? I don't like it?
Because it comes off as sour grapes. I think RG
three was trolling here, oh many, Like why would you dude,
(01:54:03):
You're you're so removed from that move forward? Go on,
you gotta gig back in the NFL, right, worry about
the Ravens, trying to stick with them, Secure yourself a
job as backup quarterback. Be ready if they ever need
you to revisit Washington as a mistake. So I think
RG three was trolling there. Yeah, I think he was trolling. Look.
(01:54:26):
RG three shouldn't be going on anybody. I mean seriously,
like with the way things that falling apart for him,
and I'm glad he's back in the NFL. I actually
think he's But you know, you gotta know when the
when to hold them, when the fold him as they say, like,
you gotta know when. Look, I'm not the one to
be calling anybody out right now. You're black up quarterback.
(01:54:49):
You know, you know you're a career to be the
next great. You're supposed to change the game, and instead
right now your career is like taped together with gum
and some shoe strings. Right, you have to know when
it's time to talk and when it's time to just
be quiet and blend into the background. So I think
our RG three should have been chilling instead of trolling
(01:55:12):
at that point. Yeah, number two overall pick offensive Rookie
of the Year twenty and twelve and then fell off
a cliff. Kind of seems like I'd take myself and
I relaxed out on that one as well. All right
there it is trolling or rolling with the great Martin Whist,
(01:55:33):
but some disagreeing. No, I'm just saying, man, hey with
the mediatory, with the very solid Martin Wiss. How about
that there, that's better. Cristal down the script, Martin Watt,
that's some courage in your conviction, Chris Brussard. Have we
have Dave Wei s at Am five seventy and Martin Whiss,
(01:55:54):
same speller. Her name's not Weis because white is better.
Everybody your Jewish told, don't they? I mean, I can't
help it. No, I'm just asking when they see that
name Martin Weiss, I mean you wouldn't believe he's a
light skin, black goud. There's I mean, there's definitely happens.
I'll walked if somebody will walk into the waiting room
and say, Martin Weiss and there look at me last right,
(01:56:15):
you know, right right? I get it, I get it
all right. It looked bad on the surface, but that's
only because it's even worse behind the scenes. I'll explain next.

(01:57:20):
the show. We brought him up slightly, but let's talk
about him. Ragion Rondo sitting on the bench well in
the stands last night, away from his team. He had
said that he's done it before. He said what eight
or eight, eight or nine times this year, and he
did do it in Indiana. He was a little closer
(01:57:42):
to the bench though, and the Lakers bought his explanation
and they are not going to find or punish him
in any way. And maybe it's true. I don't know,
but I what I looked at it as I'm not
so much looking at it as in subordination on Rondo's part.
I'm looking at it as it's just a sign. It
(01:58:05):
was emblematic. It was like the outward sign of how
fed up he is with this circus. Yeah, but the
only problem is it's a bad look for the organization.
It's a bad look for Luke Walton. Again, guys being separate,
and you know what, let's take a listen. Mark Jackson
ripped him. Mark Jackson straight up ripped him last night
(01:58:25):
on the game. This is some of the things. Look
where Rondo is sitting unless he's coming into the game,
there's no excuse for that. And this is I live
in La so I watched Luke agam. That can't happen.
For whatever reason, that can't happen. And the last game
it was Rondo and Jabelle McKee. That's not a winning culture.
He may be doing it for the right reasons, there's
no right reason. In my opinion, that's unacceptable. And I
(01:58:49):
think Mark went on to say that Luke Walton or
somebody need to go over there and tell him. Yeah. Look, honestly,
I think it. I think it was good that Luke
didn't go over there. I think that would have been
a Charles Oakley situation. I mean, like, look, if it
was as innocuous as Rondo sent bron Shaw and said,
dude can come on the bench. Yeah, if good, whoever
(01:59:12):
the assistant is that has a really good relations right right,
they go get Look, Rondo has gone in Doc Rivers,
Rick Carlisle, and George carl Those are three of the
strongest coaches in terms of their personalities in the league.
I know Carl's not in the league anymore, but you know,
(01:59:34):
when he was a coach in the league, you don't
think and again, maybe it was completely innocuous, like Rondo said,
But if it was, if he was feeling a certain
way and that's what let him to sit over there.
It may have gotten ugly, well, but this is the
only problem. Went over there, Chris No under normal and
he said he did it ten eleven times already during
a regular season, which I don't buy. But anyway, it's different.
(01:59:57):
If the team isn't where it is, it's just a
another No, it's just another battle, am I right? It's
to see optics. This team isn't together, they don't want
to play together. That it's like twelve strangers strangers in
the night. Uh, you know what I mean. There's no camaraderie,
there's no chemistry. Lebron was sitting whether or not he
(02:00:18):
meant to do it deliberately, and we know that everybody
got away, I know, and everybody got up. But I'm
just saying, when things are going well and you see
that kind of stuff, it just makes you think that
there's dysfunction and problems going on. What there is? Right?
I mean, like I said to me, what Rondo did
last night was not gonna be the cause of anything crazy.
(02:00:42):
It was the effect of it. It was the one
of like it was evidence of how badly things are
going in that organization. Their culture is horrible, horrible. The
front office is to blame. Lebron is to blame. The
rest of the players are the blame. The coaching staff
(02:01:02):
is the blame. It is an absolute mess. And I
think Rajon Rondo was just like yo, I think he's
a no nonsense guy, and I think he's like, this
is just a bunch of nonsense. He signed a one
year deal, and I just think I'm reading into it,
(02:01:23):
but I think he's like, man, I ain't come here
for this mess, right, No, it's it's ugly. And if
the word gets out about how this thing, this is why,
I think it's gonna be out. But I'm just saying, like, well,
we know, it's probably not even half of it. I'm
just talking about trying to get people to come, you
know what I mean, like other people to say, man,
this is a mess there. And then again I've keep
(02:01:44):
saying Kevin Darin through that toxic word out there, and
boy it seems toxic. Well this this one right this
year and again, you know, he put it on Lebron.
He really put it on the media, which but I
think he was really more putting it on Lebron. He
just didn't admit it. He didn't admit it, but just
telling about to throw it off on the meet. The
atmosphere around Lebron is time, but this isn't This isn't
(02:02:06):
all Lebron. I mean, it's a he's one of them
that deserves blame. But it's a lot of blame to
go around. But you're right, they gotta fix it because
everybody's actly like, oh, it's gonna be a totally different
team next year. What if they don't get a d Right,
But if they don't get some big time free agent,
then you bringing back Kuzma and Ingram and Linzo and
(02:02:26):
you know, most likely. I mean, they can make other
trades obviously, but they gotta fix it many and it's
gonna be on all of them. It's gonna be on Lebron,
it's gonna be on Magic, Rob Pelinka, whoever the new
coach is, because I don't see how it's gonna be
Luke No, I don't know. I don't know how he's
savage no and that, And it's probably good. I mean, look,
(02:02:48):
they're justified and get rid of him, no doubt, But
at this point, you you got to bring in a
new coach when you don't make the playoffs and when
the culture is so bad, Like just for a fresh start.
What if you can't change the other players, then at
the very least you have to bring in a new
coach to set a new culture. I gotta be honest, Robe,
(02:03:09):
I'd like to see Mark Jackson get a shot. I
really would. Has he been blackballed out of the league? Yeah? Yeah,
to this point, I'm not saying there's nobody that would
give him a shot, but there's no other explanation. He
did a really good job in Golden State. Obviously wasn't perfect,
but he did do a good job and get that
team on the right track, winning fifty semi games, and
(02:03:31):
he deserves another shot. All right. It's the I Couple,
