Speaker 3 (02:43):
Both winning winning a championship doesn't mean anything. He really doesn't,
because four of the last six coaches once you get fired, yep,
I mean that that, that is unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
What more do you want from me? You know usually that.

Speaker 1 (02:56):

Speaker 5 (03:20):
Alex is our end in the Yeah Bow, it's our producer.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Wise Bow in there looking like bo X right now
by any means necessary, I.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
Mean both, Look a look at the glasses. Glasses. I've
never seen you with glasses by any means necessary.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Looking both those real glasses or those uh make me
look different glasses.

Speaker 5 (03:39):
They're blue light glasses. Because I'm tired of getting headaches
from seraing.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Okay, well I need to borrow those. Next February Black
History Month, I'm gonna be Malcolm X.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Yeah there you go.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
Yeah, bowl looks like Malcolm X's looking at what they
called buff buff buffalo hard.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Let me just hear you say bamboozled, and then I'll
know if you really run them UK run astray mamboozled.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (04:00):

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Never heard of him. I've never heard of him.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
Never heard of them, social media guru, one of the
best in the bay. You wouldn't know it, I know.
Oh all right, Uh, let's get started on this trash
talking Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Don't forget our number two, your chance to trash anyone
anything in the world of sports will give you trash
thirty or forty seconds. We will not and ot interrupt you.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
We will not do that.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
You will have your say even if you want to
trash Kelvin or whoever you want to trash Alex or Kelvin.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Wait, why me, I'm just saying I am not throwing
it O. I don't think I've ever been trashed. No, well,
there's a first for everything. Oh, I would never I
would never call up and trash. I'm just thinking Ron.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Wait, wait, no, it's Rob. It's not Thursday, Okay, trivia
on Thursday. I got you some cookies.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
All right, all right, let me tell you I'm one
salty guy. I'm salty because I was gonna win the
Right the Bracket Challenge here on Fox Sports Radio and
of course, uh Houston, Yeah, there is a problem.

Speaker 5 (05:25):
They melt it down. Kelvin Sampson, you know what this is?
Like his m O man? What hop and Lucy?

Speaker 3 (05:32):
Is all I want to know where They don't even
get any shots off down the stretch, four turnovers and
then the last shot I wasn't a shot the last turnover.

Speaker 5 (05:43):
Put the ball up. You were about to be found.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
You don't go up and throw it down like, oh
my god, I'm gonna double dribble.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
What was that?

Speaker 3 (05:53):
It was the worst ending to a college basketball national
championship I've.

Speaker 5 (05:57):
Seen since Moby Dick was a guppy. I was so pissed.
Put the shot up, miss it. For God's sakes, what
are you doing?

Speaker 3 (06:08):
This was as bad as when the Rangers lost and
Nelson Cruise were two outs in the bottom of the night.
But at the top of the night pulled up on
a ball. He didn't even attempt to catch it. He
stopped and pulled up at the fence.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
You can't do it for a turner.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
They couldn't even get a shot down the stretch that
have many chances to win this game. My goodness, gracious,
I'm disgusted, not because I lost only, but because, yeah,
can you make a shot attempt?

Speaker 5 (06:47):
I'm okay if you miss it. You can't make all
the shots. But for Christ's sake, what Jesus got to.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
Do with it?

Speaker 5 (06:56):
He's just sitting at home right now. Heaven what I
got to do with this?

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Man? I'm so mad at my namesake right now? How
dare he disrespect all the Kelvins in the world. It
ain't that many of us Kelvin. It ain't like as
Rob's or Alex bo. It's not a lot of yall either.
Bow so you were my camera. I mean, there's a
lot of bulls, but me might be closer to me. Man,
oh man. To have the same thing that you did
to somebody else happened to you in a four to

(07:21):
eight hour our span is crazy. To be down twelve
ish against Duke and to come back and win that
game in crazy fashion. To then on Sunday or Monday
have the same thing happened to you is wild. And
I put a lot of the blame on that for
Kelvin Sampson saying, at some point you got to say, hey,

(07:42):
what happened what we did to Duke ain't happening to us.
That is not happening to us, and you figure out
another way to, you know, to start to have put
your foot back down on their throat, find a way
to dominate the game again. A couple of things to note.
They went two minutes and twenty two seconds without scoring.
That cannot happen. Another thing, shots did.

Speaker 5 (08:04):
They get during that time?

Speaker 1 (08:05):
You know what I mean, They weren't even getting shot right,
But that can't happen. Also, what can't happen is what
was the issue of them against Dick Duke? Why they
were down so much? They started to go and at
the end of the day, you are who you are.
So they started to resort back to isolation ball dribble, dribble, dribble,
let me see what I can do in it. There
was no ball movement, There was no concentrated effort to

(08:28):
run a set to run a play. And the bad
part is when they did run a set or a play.
The last shot attempt, it was a terrible play, and
as you mentioned, he panicked and didn't get the shot off.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
Man, you gotta do what you got. You gotta throw
it off of him, throw it off his body. You
gotta just throw up at it. Anything shot he could
have fouled you. This isn't the.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
First half, this isn't the ways. This is a semiship game.
You gotta just figure out double clutch, do something getting
that shot off. But no passion back to a player,
no shot. And also, I don't know that I'm still
a fan. I know a lot of people will say,
like Charles Barkley said after the game, I love it.
They were going for three, going for the win. There

(09:09):
was way too much time to me left to simply
just go for the win. Six seconds I get it,
five seconds, I get it. Boom, and that's the pass.
That's a going off, a pick shot up for the three.
We try to win it. They had enough time to
me to run an easier play to get to the
free throw line, and the refs all of a sudden
were you know, they were calling a bunch of calls.
At one point, in two minutes into the second half,

(09:32):
Florida already committed five fouls. So I'm trying to get
to the hole or I'm trying to get an easy layup,
tie the game up, and then we go from there.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
So that was just it was bad.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
It was bad.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
And this is what Kelvin Simpson, this will be that,
Achilles Hugh, I'm gonna tweet sixteen.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
The lead eight's final fours get finally get to the
National Washington Simpson today, I'm gonna do that. You see
the way I have my high twitch. Don't do that, dude,
don't I mean what Kelvin Washington Simps. Don't do that.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Don't do that because it would have been a yack
if it was the Washington, the Washington Sampson's buckets.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
First of all, Florida wold it came back if it
was the Kelvin Washington Sam.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
I was getting text by my friend, my god, Tony,
Oh you are winning this thing. My man, it's all over,
I said, Tony, it's way too much time. Can you
stop texting me? What the game is over?

Speaker 5 (10:23):
I don't I never believe in that. I don't care.
In college right now.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
But but this is who you blame me here, I'm
blaming Kelvin Sampson. Kelvin Washington Sampson is the blame.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
I'm so mad that's sitting there. Yes, I'm so mad.
It's an easy layup one, it is, and I'm gonna
use it to death. I'm so mad at him.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
Kelvin Washington Samon, he is the blame. So mad at
him right now. God not to we people have the
name Kelvin, you know that, and.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
This was our mom We was up, city was up.
We had a chance to win the Natty. I'm winning
right now doing TV and radio with you. Kelvin's around
the world were up.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
I'm so upset right now. Will you blame me?

Speaker 1 (11:14):
I'm blaming unfortunately my namesake because you had to have
at a certain point, Rob, you gotta look at this
and go, Okay, what happened, what we did to Duke
is what's happening to us, and you have to find
a way to snap amont of it. But you know
what the problem is or challenges, and I think it's
why we saw this happen to Duke, why we saw
this happen to Houston. We are not seeing Bobby Hurley,

(11:38):
Grant Hill, Christian Latner lose to UNLV, get demolished on
national TV, get humiliated, and be able to come back
and fight. What's happening is the best player on your
team is going from Iowa to Houston, is going from
Houston to Kansas, is going and you have no camaraderie,
You have no way of being like, I've been in
this fire with these guys. I've been in these battles

(11:59):
with these guys. I know who's gonna do what I
know what to do. And they're all finding out what
it's like together, what it's like to be under the
fire together for the first time in real time. And you,
you know what I mean, You're not able to learn
in the middle of this and grow from this. And
that's one of the things I saw. So, Man, what
happened to Duke? How the they ain't ain't played together before?

(12:20):
Oh Man, Houston, Man, the zoos ain't played together before
a lot of times they're coming in your best players
from different schools, and so it would be interesting to
see if there's a way of saying, like, all right,
if you guys stick together, the old Villanova guys, you know,
with the Devin, Chico and Bridges and all them, like,
we're sticking together, Brunson. We put some years some equity together.

(12:44):
We know how to depend on each other, who does
what well and what to do in these key situations.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
All right, eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Here's
just a couple of stats for you. I'm upset if
you mentioned my name the last fourteen.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
On the outcome.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
That's like inception the odd couple calling the ot cover,
which is the ring tough ring tone of the oddcome.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
It's not trigonometric. It's just not bad.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
It's not how did you even get a ring tone?
I just thought about it. That's it even possible? Now,
oh you can get a ring tone.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
But but I did want to bring up the You know,
they were in a bonus for the for the last fourteen,
for the last fourteen minutes, and they got four free
That is terrible.

Speaker 5 (13:20):
Now you're that's that's spout tournament supposed to win the game.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
You're in the bonus. All you gotta do is go ahead,
take the ball to the hole. They gotta fail you,
and you're gonna get your You're gonna wind up getting
up baskets and here and the other one is uh
the final one twenty one yep, four turnovers, final one
twenty one.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
And not a single shot and the only shot that
you thought he was about to take was a turnover.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Kelvin Washington. Sampson is to blame for this. Kevin, this
hurts me more than the Lions lock. I'm giving the kids.
I'm giving the kids a break. I am this is
coaching now. I know why he wasn't hasn't won the
big game. I saw it before my eyes, all right.
Eighty seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Who are you

(14:11):
blaming the kids on the coach? The kids on the coach,
or are you blaming on Houston? It is the Odd
Couple on a trash Talking Tuesday, Rob Parker, Kelvin Washington
right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
Stink and stay because we all know who's to blame
in the US of a. Kelvin Washington.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Odd Couple
with Rob Parker and Kelvin Washington weekdays at seven pm
Eastern four pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the
iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
Kelvin, you don't understand, you don't understand, just the facts
just the facts.

Speaker 5 (14:51):
It's the one day I wish my name was just
Mike Kelvin, just Mike, Yes, Daggin, Thomas Sampson. Don't worry,
he'll be an hour four. That's right.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
He won't be hit it up before it is out
four z I couple Robert Kelvin Washington Sampson apparently on
a on a trash talking Tuesday, coming to you live
from the Tireck dot com studios. Congrats to Billy l
who had the best bracket and a tractor supply. Fox
Sports Radio Bracket Challenge.

Speaker 5 (15:20):
Congratulations.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Billy finished with an impressive one hundred and seventy six points,
narrowly beaten two listeners by a single point to take
home the title. Billy Well, he won a twenty five
hundred dollars gift card, a tractor supply, and in the
host standings, Chris Plank finished with one hundred and sixty
five points, followed by Plexico Burris who was second, and
my guy Rob Parker was third.

Speaker 6 (15:44):
They didn't yet, they didn't put it on the list here.
I said it for you, Okay, thank you, I said
it for you. It might have been, but Doug dropped out.
No because Doug had I don't think this is an
official I was just added.

Speaker 5 (15:56):
You put me on.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
I was third going, even though you disrespected my name
on this here Tuesday, all right, trying to get knows
the winning season takes practice, team working in the candy attitude.
Thankfully you have a neighbor like tractor supply. Team work
comes easy whether you care for pets, chickens or a
few acres. Our team members are going to help you
succeed season after season as tractor supply for life out here.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
Who are you blaming for the loss? Is it's the
coach of the kids? I think it's Kelvin Washington Sampson.
All right, let's go Marty in Kentucky. You're in the
couple of Fox Sports Radio. What's up, Marty?

Speaker 7 (16:28):
What's up Kelvin Washington? Smart guys, I'm not with y'all here.
I do not blame Kelvin Washington Sampson.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
I've been following him for a long time.

Speaker 7 (16:44):
I made him when I was a kid. He was recruit.
My brother actually knocked on my front door.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (16:50):
He The funny thing is he was younger than I
am now at that time, and that's crazy to think
of but as old as he is now. But anyway,
I've always thought he was a good coach and he
got he he got you know he is at Indiana.
I didn't care for how he was departed there, and
I've just kind of followed him. And I feel like

(17:12):
he's the reason they were in the final four. He's
the reason they were in the game. And I feel
like his game plan to shut down Clayton was excellent.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
That wore down.

Speaker 7 (17:24):
Yeah, he wore down the team. They don't have the
debt Florida has. Florida has more guns. Their own coach
said it at the end of the game that he
has the best frontcourt am backcourt in the country and
he's lucky and Sampson when they started playing tired and
he called a time out and he told him, you're
playing tired, I need you.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
To be tough.

Speaker 7 (17:41):
He got he, He got hard on him. They come out,
they had another run. It had him right there to
win the game. Unfortunately, Emanuel Sharp made two really bad
plays and in the last two possessions he dribbled into
three mes a three man trap and bounced one off
his knee.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
And then when he had no shots in the final
one twenty one, Marty, and the free throws that they
were they were end up, they were in a penalty
for the last fourteen minutes and got four free throws. No,
the coach, I'm gonna draw a play for you to
take the ball to the hole. To be aggressive, not
settle for jump shots, not settle for threes.

Speaker 5 (18:19):
You got to make it a contest. Marty.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
You know basketball KP in Minnesota. You're on the couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 8 (18:26):
What's up KP height fourth great?

Speaker 4 (18:30):
Doing well? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (18:31):
Well as sart of the game. Yeah, you know what,
one of the best final fours.

Speaker 7 (18:38):
In a while.

Speaker 8 (18:38):
You gotta admit that. But but I got something to
bounce off with both of Yas said earlier. Now when
you're talking players of like from the natural from a
natural origin, from the same area what Kevin was talking about.
I remember going to a lot of games with my
uncle back in the day when the Paul was playing,

(19:00):
and a lot of them castles from Chicago. Or you
take Michigan State or Michigan, a lot of them casts
from Michigan. Or you take a lot of teams with Illinois,
a lot of them guys from were from Chicago. So
they knew that you said, who was then take over
at Church of time. They just knew each other's case.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Okay, that works so well that Michigan State has one
championship in twenty five years and Michigan and Michigan's won
how many two another last.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
Been in the national championship like five times the last
thirty year.

Speaker 8 (19:31):
Yeah, okay, one second, one second. My point is that
that was the time then they didn't have a face
with that kind of situation that they had last night.
Now I had they had that kind of chemistry, who knows.

Speaker 9 (19:42):
Would have took off?

Speaker 3 (19:43):
I just, I just I just cannot when you can't
get a shot off in the last one twenty one,
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
There's two separate conversations. I think I can't accept that.
I think absolutely you need some chemistry and that would
be benefit. But that's what I'm saying, separate Come you
got to make come on one twenty one notes. That's
four turnovers two. That's ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (20:02):
Are you kidding?

Speaker 4 (20:03):
Man?

Speaker 1 (20:03):
In the fact that they didn't they had five fouls
with two minutes and thirty nine seconds into the second half, Florida,
that's what upright, that's crazy and they won the game.
Andre in massachusetixteen less shots too. You're on the couple
of Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
Way, what's up? Why you know basketball? Come on man,
what were they doing?

Speaker 9 (20:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (20:24):
The situation for me, you know you noted.

Speaker 10 (20:26):
The first half was very well officiated, only four fouls
they got on Florida. To start the second half, they
had fout five fouls and then the reps had to
balance it out, so both teams were essentially in the
bonus with more than ten minutes to go. Here's what
it comes down to for me, I do have to
blame Kelvin Sampson, even though.

Speaker 7 (20:41):
I was pulling for him. I picked Houston, be.

Speaker 5 (20:44):
Pick Houston too.

Speaker 10 (20:46):
I wanted him to get his flowers. This is what
I do not understand.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
LJ.

Speaker 10 (20:49):
Cryer was the straw that stirred the drink for them
throughout this run.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
He was the guy that hit the threes.

Speaker 10 (20:55):
He's their primary ball handler.

Speaker 7 (20:57):
Why did he run to.

Speaker 10 (20:59):
Two possessions for Sharp down?

Speaker 4 (21:01):
Thank you?

Speaker 10 (21:03):
That's not his role. The balls should have been in LJ.
Criers and to make up play down his pret that
got too empty possession because Sharp is a spot up shooter.
That's what that's official, makes no.

Speaker 5 (21:13):
Sense, Andre, but spot on what what was that? Calvin
Washington Sampson that.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
The only thing I can think is if the same
way they did they meaning Houston did with Clayton Jr.
Locked him down. They were Joe Florida was doing that.
So therefore Sharp was gonna be have the open shot
because he was less of a more of a available
because the other guy would be a decoy.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
If you will, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
I'm around Steph Curry around here so i can get
you a shot. Uh, Clay Thompson something like that. That's
the only thing I can think of. Ah, I can't
believe this spected her name like that. Ivra Salom getting
ready to join us here in a bit. Uh, he
knows some hoops. He might have some thoughts on that.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
We definitely want to get his thoughts.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
A couple coming to you live on the Trashhawking Tuesday
from the tire rack dot Com studios. Guess as usual
on the Tuesday, our guy e from Salaam for NFL
Offensive Line and Fox Sports Radio Weekend hosts. And I'm
sure he's producing twenty seven other shows and movies and
all that good stuff from what.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Something, Man, what's happening? Brothers doing?

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Hey help us out with who'd you have first? For
the National Championship game? And then are you blaming Kelvin
Washington Sampson too, like I am today?

Speaker 4 (22:27):
That's funny. Now. First of all, I wanted Houston to win.
I was pulling for uh, you know, coach Sampson. Uh.
But look, I mean, pressure is a real thing, and
them not being able to get a shot off and.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
That's just like that is to me, I mean and excusable.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
That's it. That's it, Like you're not being able to score.

Speaker 5 (22:51):
It was like Duke not being able to get the
ball in bounds.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Right, It's the same thing, the same exact thing, and
that pressure got great and you know, not only that,
they you know, missed a couple free throws down the stretch.
All of those things matter, man, free throws, being able
to not turn the ball over. And so I was
just really watching that game in disbelief, like, wow, they're

(23:18):
really crumbling right now, and we had just watched it
happen to Duke.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Yeah, that's the crazy part I was saying earlier in
like the same thing you did the duke. Florida just
did to you came in and took your heart, man, and.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
Shout out to Florida for playing that defense man, that
on ball defense. That was just unreal. They made it
extremely difficult for Houston to really do anything spressing those
last two minutes of the game.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
You know what, let me ask you this real quick,
just one last little bit on kind of college sports
as a whole, but specifically basketball. You love who and
this tournament maybe more than ever. We just saw how
so many they they kept highlighting it, even on the
the women's side. You know you, oh, look at her,
this is her third Elite eight because she went to
this school. Then when that school trens of that school,
and then of course of the man sign this guy

(24:03):
he's their star player, but last year he was in
sweet sixteen with this other team.

Speaker 5 (24:06):
What do you make of the transfer portal?

Speaker 1 (24:08):
Do you think it's good for the game, good for
the players, hey, they getting opportunities, or do you think
it kind of waters down and hurts the.

Speaker 5 (24:14):
Game a bit?

Speaker 4 (24:15):
I think it hurts the mid majors. I think it
hurts them more so because they can't compete with the
SEC and the big acc and all the bigs, the
Big twelve, big teamp all, they can't compete with them.
When it comes to you could take say the player
of the year in the Mountain West and then you

(24:35):
know Kentucky can pay him two million dollars. He's gone. Right,
So now you take the best player in a conference,
a mid major conference, and then you take him and
you know it's good for him. It's more exposure, it's
more money. But in terms of those Cinderella teams and
those Sweet sixteen runs from these teams from mid majors,

(24:57):
I think we're seeing the end of that because of
Nil in the transfer portal, Like, no one is going
to stick with that team. Like so the thing the team,
the thing that made VPUs and before Gonzaga became Gonzaga,
it made those teams good is because guys have been
there three four years playing together. So they were an older,

(25:19):
well constructed team. Now those pieces are being snatched up
out of there.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
Amazing, amazing. I do want to ask you. We're gonna
get to you, I know from the NFL. One other question,
uh Mike Malone being fired. Of course the GM got
back as well, but with three games ago, you're the
number four seed.

Speaker 5 (25:39):
You want to championship a couple of years ago.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
We're gonna get to this in the next hour for
people listening, but just your thoughts the first when you
first heard the news, what was your immediate reaction.

Speaker 4 (25:51):
I thought it was a joke. I had to make
sure right, right right, you know, because it doesn't it
doesn't make sense. Like you, we thought that the the
Grizzlies firing their coach what two weeks ago, right, we
thought that was weird. This is this is even worse

(26:11):
because this coach has is what two years removed from
a championship two.

Speaker 5 (26:16):
Years and you remember in the old days, if you
want a championship.

Speaker 4 (26:19):
From you as you got, that's five six more.

Speaker 5 (26:21):
Years, right, easily easily.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
And so to have a team that's, you know, a
game or two out of a legitimately three games out
of second place in that Western Conference, you fire that
guy in the GM Like, I'm really scratching my head.
I don't understand what's going on unless and I'm not
saying this is what happens. I'm saying unless Nicoli Jokic,

(26:45):
which I don't see him doing this, you must go.
He must go now, Like that's the only way something
like that happens in my opinion. But of course that's
not the type of player he is. I couldn't see
him doing something like that. So it leaves us all, uh,
whether we're fans are in the business, it leaves us

(27:06):
all scratching our head, like, what the hell is going
on over there?

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Three days before the end of the season for them.
That's what makes it weird. If you did it a
month ago, I get it.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
They're they're they're like I said, they're three wins away
from being the second seat. That's it with four games left.
So if they they if it got.

Speaker 5 (27:24):
Three right, yeah, and that's three three games left.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
Right, So if they win these next three games, they
would and then other things happen, they could be in
a segency without a coach.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
That's where there's something. It's beyond just x's and o's
at this point. It's kind of like, I don't know
the look or trade. It wasn't just hoops, it was
some other stuff. Because nobody does this to both persons
right before this, literally before the season is going into
what matters most playoffs.

Speaker 5 (27:49):
Is very very odd.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
Now, staying there for a minute, I wanted to go
to the draft real quick as we start getting inching
closer and closer than that. And one of the conversations
Rob and I love to have is why the heck
Matt get Travis Hunter a chance to play both? We
saw a pro day the other day, the boy with
old school. You saw him out there doing receiver with
no gloves on, no sticky gloves.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
He's a tremendous talent. He's one of those talents where
you say, Hey, whatever you want to do, you can
do as long as you're doing that, as long as
you're doing it at a high level. And I would
I would surmise that whatever team decides to draft him,
whether it be the Tennessee Hell, they might be like,

(28:34):
forget it, We're gonna do it. Are our Cleveland are
are the giants. I think they're going to let him
play what he wants to play, because if you do
it gives you a better chance of winning. That's the
bottom line. He is a generational talent. He's like the
show Hey of of the NFL.

Speaker 5 (28:56):
And let him prove that he can't do it, like
let him play for him.

Speaker 4 (28:59):
Show Hey, we want you to just bat?

Speaker 7 (29:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
When he's healthy and you can't tell him, Hey, don't
worry about that, and you just gonna pitch. You just
be like, all right, every blue moon, every century or so.
You have a generational talent. We're seeing it live in
firsthand with shoe Heo Tani in baseball when he's healthy,
and we're getting to see it. We saw it all
through college with Travis Hunter, So why not let him go?

(29:24):
Let him play? Right?

Speaker 1 (29:25):
And Robin and I say, they ain't gonna do but
a couple, you know, maybe a year or two of it.
It's not like he's about to have a ten year career. See,
let's see a couple of years.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
You want to see it as a fan, I want
to see it.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
No doubt. Hey man, thank you so much. As always
appreciate you.

Speaker 4 (29:38):
Appreciate y'all brothers, y'all stay safe, all right.

didn't win, that's true, but there are other games that
you might have won. We'll do that Shekel City and

Speaker 5 (30:22):
What's up man, man, ma'am? Did you did we shake
Did you guys shake up the sports world with that?
What y'all doing out there?

Speaker 9 (30:29):
Well, you know, we were just tired of being boring
out here, so we wanted to give you something to
talk about them on Tuesday? All right, how ridiculous and
crazy is this day?

Speaker 1 (30:38):
Uh?

Speaker 9 (30:38):
The season ends, as you just heard on Sunday, and
you're going to fire and all of your head coach,
but your GM. I mean, it is a very interesting time,
to say the least here in the Rocky Mountain.

Speaker 5 (30:49):
Did they call you at all like how you want
to coach?

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Because we got a few more games left in the
season and then we got to go in the postseason.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
My goodness.

Speaker 7 (30:56):
Look, look, I'll tell you what if they gonna call
me to pay me and give you that guarantee contract.

Speaker 9 (31:01):
You can fire me the next day, but you will
pay me.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
I'll think you that I heard that.

Speaker 5 (31:06):
Yeah, what's the scuttle bron What are you hearing?

Speaker 3 (31:09):
Because I said that, it appears we know when you
stop playing defense, that's where playing yeah an effort, that's
where players get coaches fired like they may be retired
of Mike Malone.

Speaker 9 (31:20):
Yeah, it's one of the things where the guys tuned
them out. And you could tell from just the conversations
and also from of Michael Malone was sant and it's
press conferences where you know, a month ago he's talking
about after a lost of Portland on the road where
they got Bleu out, He's just looking around and saying, hey,
they should have surpride about what they're doing. And oh,
by the way, these guys are looking at the film.

(31:41):
We have to show them.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
What's going on.

Speaker 9 (31:44):
And then you know, on Sunday in the loss against Indiana,
talking about, hey, I've done everything I could do in
many respects, and the guys just aren't listening. And you
look at just the effort that they had, the Nuggets had,
and it was pathetic, and pathetic is a very kind
word to say about this team, and so something needed
to change. I don't know about the time.

Speaker 7 (32:06):
To be very honest with you, I do question that,
but you know what, I don't own the team, and
they made that decision.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
When you look at them, is this a throw in
the towel or is this a g NOA. We just
needed a new voice and we're right back in this thing.

Speaker 5 (32:19):
How are you viewing it?

Speaker 9 (32:21):
Well, I'll tell you how the ownership is viewing it first,
and then I'll give you my response. The ownership is
doing this as hey, we're going to go and provide
a spark. So David Alderman will go and take over.
He's one of the assistant coaches. But here's the reality.

Speaker 4 (32:33):
When you talk about.

Speaker 9 (32:34):
David Allman, he's an offensive coach. He's a guy who
starts there. He doesn't start on the defensive side of things.
And so we'll see how they how everything happens. I
know this, The Nuggets have a very tough road in
the last three games. You go on the road, take
on Sacramento that you could throw out the records because
historically Sacramento is always a tough place to play. You

(32:54):
come back home and you play Gift Methits on Friday.
That game can determine who's.

Speaker 7 (32:59):
Going to be in the playing or who's going to
be in the playoffs.

Speaker 9 (33:02):
And oh, by the way, you have.

Speaker 7 (33:03):
To take on a very hot Houston Rockets on Sunday
to end the season on the road, and so you know,
you want to provide the spark. That spark could be
that you're in the playing game.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
To be honest with you, yeah, the only issue I
have is it's not about x's and o's. Offensively, it's
about the players not playing for somebody. So I'm not
saying like you gotta do, so all you gotta do
is now not at the guy that you didn't want
any more guys out. Now, all you gotta do is
come out and give your effort where they weren't doing that.
And I think that's what ownership saw is because that's

(33:36):
the only way that a coach who just won a
championship two years ago gets broomed out.

Speaker 4 (33:41):
You know.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
But but all of writing on the wall, you just
laid out all the games that have been pathetic, and
that is a sign of the coach and players not
wanting to play for him, and when that happens and
they stop playing for you, guys have been shown the door.
And we mentioned this earlier justin for the last six
championship coaches have been five.

Speaker 9 (34:03):
Yeah, yeah, it's what have you done for me lately?
And usually you get that in the NFL, not the NBA.
You get to what have you done for me lately?
But not something that you see here. And that's something
that we have sold recently. It's very interesting, to say
the least, in that in that area, but I think
it's something where we will see what will happen with
this team in the future, and so we'll figure that out.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
Just in general, Justin Adams, our guest news and sports
reporter CBS Colorado and play by play for Altitude Sports.
Let me ask you this, Jamal Murray, who's been a
Laker killer, who is an All Star like player, just
has to have a chance to be that he's healthy,
he's playing.

Speaker 5 (34:41):
Are we having this conversation and what is up? What
is the latest with him?

Speaker 9 (34:46):
If he's healthy, We're not only not having this conversation,
We're talking about.

Speaker 4 (34:49):
The Nuggets being the two seeds.

Speaker 9 (34:51):
That's how much he means to this roster number one.
He has a hamstring injury. Michael Malone. You know when
he was employed on he did say that, you know,
he's hurt, and so at first the injury report came
out said, hey, he's questionable.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
Now on a sudden that you hear, well, he's.

Speaker 9 (35:10):
Hurt and you hope to have him in the playoffs. Guys,
there's a chance that the Nuggets will be in the
play in and if you're in a playan deal with
a hamstring injury, you don't have that extra week into
when the playoffs start. So now you look at a
team that has to play either on No you would
have to play on Tuesday, and then if you lose
that game, you have to play on Thursday. So you're
telling me that you're going to go to a must

(35:33):
win situation without your second most important player in the lineup.
That's going to be very tough for the Nuggets to
be able to pull it off against anybody that they play.

Speaker 4 (35:42):
And let's be honest.

Speaker 9 (35:43):
You look at Nicole Yokis for example. You got a
guy who last week scored sixty one points, ten rebounds
of ten assists and lost, Right, where does that happen?
And So if you're not getting help from your other guys,
and Yokus is putting up those numbers, I'll tell you
by the time we get the next the season could
be over for them.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
Well what's the reaction of fans in Denver? Just you know,
listening to radio and one other people. I know everybody
was shocked, But what's the people do understand it? Or
they don't understand it?

Speaker 9 (36:15):
No, people don't understand it generally. I think it's really
a shocked and stun feel I will tell you this.
When the news came down, I was in the newsroom,
And when the news came down, you guys know you've.

Speaker 4 (36:25):
Been in newsrooms.

Speaker 7 (36:26):
You still are in newsrooms, And it.

Speaker 9 (36:28):
Was just like a wave of just collective shock that
happened throughout people, Like what are you kidding me? That's
really how fans are feeling right now, is that they
can't believe that just twenty two months ago, you're celebrating
your first championship in franchise history, and now that coach
who led you to that championship is now on the street.

(36:49):
Like that's shocking to say the least. So we'll see
what happened. What the ownership would do, because not only
will you have a brand new head coach, you will
now have a brand new GM And oh, by the way,
the assistant coaches that are currently on the roster, well
they are on expiring contracts as well. So this is
a full, full rebuild at a full reboot for the Nuggets.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
One more for me, Justin said, I said this a
minute ago. To me, it's similar to when the Lakers
won in twenty twenty. They had this identity. Frank Vogel
had them playing hard, they played the fishing offense, they
went through ad obviously Lebron's Lebron, and they most importantly
you knew what they did defensively and they beat you
guys right because they had all the big Javelle mcge

(37:31):
dwhit My simple question, real quick for us as we
got a break here, do you think losing all the players,
losing KCP, Bruce Brown, Jeff Green like they have anything
to do with kind of losing the mojo that was
on the team when they won.

Speaker 9 (37:44):
Yes, it is not just mojo. It's that fire that
had the Nugget sweep the Lakers to get to the
finals and it had them winning five. It's that extra
it's that extra thing that you put you over the top.
It's that cherry on top that the Nuggets had. And
when you lose those defensive stalwarts, well you can't win
in the all season.

Speaker 5 (38:00):
There you have it, man, our man. Thanks, Justin. FAM's good.
Hopefully everybody's well.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
Man, sir, he appreciate y'all fellas, no doubt.
