Also one's gotta go. Oh you got last call? You

what is that one?

Speaker 3 (02:02):
It's nothing crazy, It's just just a little preview. It's
you're avoiding these things right now in your life, is
all I can say. All Right, well, well, little food
related thing and you know you in your back right now.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
If it ain't meat, you don't want it. That's not crazy.
But you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
That does sound kind of crazy because we're talking about
a diet here, But you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Car, Yes, you know that was a much better way
to say, Low car. I apologize, Yes.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Low Car. There you go. But first let me welcome
in my partner.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
He is.

Speaker 5 (02:32):
Kelvin Washington.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
All right, you gotta do me a favorite, Rob, Can
you do me a favor? I don't ask for much.
Can you call Steven and can you tell him I
need another like? Just say my name normal next time,
not being you.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
No, that Kelvin, Kelvin. I think it's great.

Speaker 5 (02:51):
It is great. I love it. I love it.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
I love it.

Speaker 5 (02:53):
By the way, I want to smack you. I'm glad
you're not.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
We're not next to each other, because I would have,
because you got the streets run around calling me Kelvin
Washington Samson.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
There you go. We love it. Come on, man, that worked.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
Yes, that was so great, dude.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
No shout out to uh, well a guy you're about
to mention here in a minute that we don't know,
because well I got Paul.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
No, we never heard of him. Elijah him.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
The couple of the couple of videos he put out
yesterday for us were hilarious. If you don't if you
got go check him out on the odd couples, all
the social pages. Elijah put out some great videos from
our show yesterday talking about the Dodgers Jackie Robinson with
some hilarious uh and then also uh yeah, the Kevin
Washington Samson hilarious videos.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
Go check him out, no doubt. If it ain't meat,
you don't want it.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Oh God, there we go. Alex is in his bag.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
All all right, let's welcome in the odd couple crew
because we wouldn't be able to do this fine radio
program without him. And Alex, of course is our engineer.
Bo is our producer and.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
For by any means necessary, Bo.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
That's right. And I believe I heard Manzi. Yeah, Monte
Bolanos at the anchor desk. She'll keep us updated throughout
the program.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
And yet.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
A lot is our.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Social media Google, So we got a lot to get into,
a lot of to talk about.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
And Kelvin, let's start here.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
I mean, it's just obvious Luca, after the big trade
out of Dallas, is going back to Dallas to take
on the Mavericks for the first time with the Lakers
since the trade.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
And there's a lot of hooplog going around.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
First of all, the Dallas Mavericks had t shirts placed
at every every seat and it's in his native language, right,
but it's translated into thank you for everything, for for
for Luca, And I guess they wanted to do a video, right,
a tribute, and he doesn't want that. And and I'm

(04:55):
just gonna start here and say the Dallas Mavericks are
out of pocket, they're a sugar na, they're crazy. This
isn't like a superstar who played a long career, wanted
to win, couldn't win there, and you trade him off
somewhere hoping that he can go on and fulfill that dream.

(05:17):
That is a guy you would celebrate when he comes back.
But the Dallas Mavericks can painted any way they want. Yeah,
they wanted Anthony Davis. Yeah they wanted this and they
thought that. Yeah, all the other stories.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
They want to put out there. But Kelvin they dumped him.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
They dumped him, and that would be like dumping a
girlfriend and then asking can you come.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
By after the club?

Speaker 1 (05:44):
You know occasionally, you know when you're if she's available. No,
you cannot come by because you dumped him. And I
don't understand what the T shirt printing the T shirts
is if that's going to do anything or the whole
life of the video.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
And you didn't want to put a.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Statue out front next It is all out of pocket.
It's ludicrous, it's insane. It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Just play the damn game. You got rid of them,
own up to it. He was dumped. Yeah, what are
you trying to dupe people? Now, Alex, They're trying to
dupe the Dallas Mavericks fans, as if we really loved

(06:27):
this guy, we had no choice but to dump them.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
You can't dupe fans. You can't dupe Luca.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Rob. You know how we were gonna we were talking about,
you know, preparing for the show. We were like, man,
is you know one of the ways we'll approach this topic?
Is it fair and foul? We were thinking about, you know,
and I was gonna say, it is fair, Okay, it's
fair for the Mavericks to do this.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
And I tell you why. We're talking all the way fair.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Like fair, game, fair, fair ball, Orange County fair, Los
Angeles County fair. It is fair, and I'll tell you why, Rob,
Because it ain't for Luca. Okay, they dumped Luca. As
you mentioned. What this is for are those fans. And
by the way, I'm looking at the whole sits and
sounds at the game. It is a whole lot of
fans with a Luca jersey on who are not from

(07:12):
LA and they have Laker Luca jerseys on because it's
Maverick fans who are mad at the organization. So I
bought and wore a Luca jersey, a Laker Luca Jersey here.

Speaker 5 (07:21):
So what this is doing.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
This ain't about Luca rob This is for the next
free agent, whether it be Anthony Davis, if he stays
there for a long time, somebody who's looking at team
up with ad Kyrie. This is the show. We are
a world class organization. We honor you. They fans, look out,
we're honoring Luca. No, we didn't get rid of him
like that. No we don't hate Luca. We're honoring him.
This is a show for their fans who try to

(07:44):
appease him after their plan didn't work out. Anthony Davis
gets hurt, he was out. Kyrie is gonna be the savior.
He has no choice. He's out. A bunch of other
guys who are solid players are injured. This is falling.
It's falling by the wayside, and so they're trying to
appease their fans and potential free agents to say, look, well,
world class, we honor you. We hear, and because all

(08:06):
of our minds look at it, like Dirk, Luca was
gonna be there ten, fifteen, twenty years, win a ring
or two.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
They're gonna go out.

Speaker 3 (08:13):
He's gonna have a part of the organization, maybe part
ownership and be a generalman like we looked at it
like this is Dirk two point zho. They've got a
European player. This is gonna be amazing, and that wasn't
the case. So to me, I think they're trying to
buy some leverage with the fans and show that they're
doing this the right way by honoring him because they
got rid of Luka.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
But the only problem I have with that argument is,
I hate to break it to you, Luca didn't win
anything in Dallas.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Celebrate what they paid him. They already cele What are
they celebrating.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
And if you think putting up a video montage and
giving out cheap ass T shirts is it's going to
get other free agents to come.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
They're gonna come because you offer the most money.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
You guys always try to make it like, oh no,
nobody's gonna go there because the New York Knicks have
one of the worst owners. Players took less money to
go play there, right, took less money and he's a
bad owner. And the Knicks haven't won anything since nineteen
seventy three. But you know, and I could go team
and team and team. If you offer the most money,

(09:18):
these guys will always.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
Come in there. Do you care what happened?

Speaker 3 (09:21):
But I'm not I'm not saying that a free agent
will sit there with his agent and be like, man,
I was gonna go there, but they ain't put out
the T shirts. What I am saying, and I do believe,
is that they know that shows like you and I
the Odd Couple with Robin Kelvin and other people will
dog them and not necessarily literally us, but shows would
dog them. Oh look how they don't do this. They
don't show any respect. I know it ended short. You

(09:42):
know it's only five six years, but you can still
get rid. She'll respect the man, show him love you.
That's what they fear. You know this. We got to
do right by the fan. We gotta do by the media. First,
take what steven a gonna say. What they gonna put
on all the blocks and they're.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Trying to cover their But if you're running your you're
running your million.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
Dollars, you may cover you, you may. I don't buy
that team.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Yes you do, yes, you do do not buy that
cover this Since ninety the NFL doesn't stay.

Speaker 5 (10:08):
People do it all the time.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
They don't let me give you, they know, let me
give you a real world example, who's the most important
person in the NFL outside of Roger Goodell? You can
argue maybe including Rodgerdell. Jerry Jones. What did Jerry Jones
tell the people? Both He told the people, you know what,
I'm ain't no cowboy ever go kneel and we ain't
gonna do this, MONCEI, we ain't gona kneel.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
We ain't gonna do none of that.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
And guess what when the thing got out and President
Trump called the players so obs and guess who was
kneeling out there might have.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
Put it that ain't have nothing to do with ease that.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Tweet because people were going saying, that's too simplistic. People
were somebody doing that. People were one of a million
dollar month. People came to fans and media all the time.
They knew Goodwill, Oh you're just gonna let them disrespect
the players all the shows, just saying he better do something, now,
he better do something.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Now.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
Jones out there with it.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
This is week. This has nothing to do with that.
This is they don't know what to do. If you celebrated,
what do you celebrate? What are you celebrating that they
went to the finals last year's They gave him a
parade for that.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
I guess what is the celebration for? What did he win?
For them?

Speaker 5 (11:18):
The celebration give him, give him a statue out front?

Speaker 4 (11:21):
If what does he do? What did he do?

Speaker 3 (11:22):
The celebration rob is called diplomacy, and they're trying to
make sure what diplomacy?

Speaker 4 (11:28):
All of his checks cash, that's the diplomacy. What more
do you want?

Speaker 3 (11:32):
That is why they did it. And they know good
and well they did not win the trade. They know
they made a mistake. They know Fancs they don't know.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
They don't know yet.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
You don't know yet either, because he could he could
wind up being the guy that they think he will.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
But you don't know that. I could blow up, we
could have an injury history. They might not ever win
in LA. You don't know that.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
You're assuming you guarantee.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
The bottom line is they didn't want to.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Hey, the guy three hundred and fifty million dollars who's
out of shape at twenty five, who doesn't have the
work ethic, that's why they dumped them.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
They dump them.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Because to the to the finals. So this is why
they're doing that. They're trying to make organization when.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Before he got there, or no, they never won? Huh
they win? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (12:21):
One?

Speaker 5 (12:22):
What is that? You want to be a winning kind
of make it like that? Know what you do with one?
I can't win multiple interacting like.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
It's an organization that's never won anything. If you want
to put up statues in front of the one that's
today never won anything since since doctor you wait left,
Maybe that's the case.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
I tell you what that organization, the new ownership ain't
did nothing. Mark Cuban can sit up there, another cup
of coffee in the suite. They owned the team. What
is the guy who made that organization what it is?
Because they wasn't nothing before him and they may not
be nothing after him. Was Mark Cuban, who they outs,
who kind of had an agreement of all, you'll be
able to.

Speaker 5 (12:58):
Be a part of the team. Still you'll be a
He was never.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
Gonna be a part of the team.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
He took his billions of dollars and what what Who
sells a team and then lets the guy who owned
it before run it that That didn't make sense.

Speaker 5 (13:10):
A team that act like they want to win something
they never.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
He was never running that team, please running it, but
it was gonna be a part of it, so that
back to my point, that's what they're doing. What they're
doing is trying to save face to his organization, to media.
Everybody's covering his massive games, the biggest story in the
NBA today, and they are trying to save face. Look
at us, We honor him, We do it right. We
treat our players right, we treat our fans right. That's

(13:33):
what they're doing right.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine nine six sixty three sixty nine.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Where are you come on? Man?

Speaker 1 (13:41):
This stuff is going over the top. Celebrate want They
didn't win anything.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
They dumped Luca.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
I would have saved the money on the T shirts.
I would have sent him to a third world country.
I wouldn't even bother. I wouldn't even bother giving out.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
Shot for U shop so that the T shirts were
only forty eight center.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
And this whole idea video montage. I would have said that,
how about having a picture, you want to endear yourself
to the fans, have a video of him leaving, walking
out of the arena with the.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
Door hitting the more than butt on the way out.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
You act like he did something to him. That's what
he did about he.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Did do something, and what he did is he didn't
work hard enough or show them that he was worth
three hundred.

Speaker 4 (14:22):
And fifty million dollars. He's the one who watched the
bag in Dallas and he's gonna get one hundred million
dollars less.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Good, Bo, can you do me a favor? Bo?

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Can you order me a Luca T shirt from there?
And also a Luker Laker jersey because it's own now,
because I've never wanted somebody to win now so bad
in my life.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
Because didn't What did he do other than take them
to the finals?

Speaker 3 (14:43):
Being just told him all NBA guy, but he's being
cheap and then not being cheap.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
They're looking at it and saying, this guy's not worth
it all right? Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
I'm fired up. It's a worship Wednesday. Rob Parker got

Speaker 4 (15:06):

Speaker 5 (15:07):

to get at you too, Alex.

Speaker 5 (15:24):

Speaker 3 (15:25):
It is the Odd Couple, Rob and Kelvin on a
worship Wednesday, and we're coming to you live from the
Tirack dot Com studios. Calm the chaos with the shipping
software and that delivers use code sports for free trial
at shipstation dot com at shipstation dot com and the
code is Sports. Before we get to a couple of
these calls here Rob, we're talking about John Morand and

(15:46):
of course the grenade celebration.

Speaker 5 (15:48):
Blah blah.

Speaker 3 (15:48):
I do want to say, if you don't mind, real quick,
I want to say big time showing love and condolecence
to a friend of mine who's a big, huge listener
of our show, my boy Vern. He lost his mother
the last few days. He's a big time fan of
this show, and I told him I wanted to show
him some love. Man, So shout out to my guy
Vern sending you a lot of love, brother and prayers.
I know you lost your mother, know she made a
lot to you, so appreciate you always listening to us.

(16:10):
So big shout out to my boy Vern back in Detroit.
Want to do that real quick?

Speaker 4 (16:15):
Absolutely from the odd Couple.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
Yeah, man, we appreciate you, Vern sending you love brother.
All right, Rob, So you and I talked about job
and just you know, you mentioned a great point. Sometimes
some people just don't get it. It makes sense to us,
but to them, they just don't get it. For me,
it's like, man, you're fighting battle. That's just an eye
battle to fight, you know what I mean. You're letting
your team down because the possibility of the league having
to suspend you. Eight seven seven ninety nine On Fox,

(16:37):
we got let's take some calls here. We got Sean,
Sean and Sacramento. You're all with the odd Couple of
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (16:45):
Yeah, I'll go with another mother good three and oh
last night my cousin kill me and my brother's behind
the board. Man, Look, I feel like the model has
already been set by the Lakers. Go ahead and trade
John for Lebron and next year have a big well
welcome back montage for the man and do another stupid
thing like the Mavericks did tonight. Man, how ridiculous was that?

Speaker 7 (17:05):
Man?

Speaker 6 (17:05):
But Nah, but seriously, it feels like this organization is
just bending over backwards. For John, they dubbed the coach,
and the reason was he lost the locker room. I'm
willing to bet the first thing he said was let's
suspend joall on our own. And the first thing they
said was give us your playbook. Don't let the door
hit you on the way out. I feel like this
is what bad organizations do, and the only way for
John to redeem his career is to go to an

(17:27):
organization like Miami, like like maybe even the Knicks with
the hard with a hard, old school coach to get
his mind right, because to y'all point, this man has
not learned anything with the suspensions, with the with the fines,
with anything. And I just think he needs a real.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Lesson, all right, Sean, I Frey spot on there, because
something is just not right.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
I mean, everybody else was saying, too, Roald, where's this?
That tem Moran, where's t you know, t ain't saying this.
It's like, to your point, he's a grown man making millions.
I'm sure his mom, I'm sure is that. I'm sure
an uncle, hey man, just relaxed, make it easy, you know,
like it's again, it's not the worst thing in the word.
Is he a horrible person? No, it's more so to me.
Robbing some battles. You just ain't got a fight. Let's

(18:08):
go to the phones again. We got Ryan. Believe it's
Ryan and Memphis.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Ryan.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
You're on with the Ocht couple with Fox Sports Radio. Ryan,
you're there rying what's up?

Speaker 7 (18:21):
All right?

Speaker 5 (18:22):
All right, right, I don't know what happened.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
Right sleeping, sleeping, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Doing something right there. She told him to come get
to work and finish these this. I told you to
finish these dishes. I told you to get these dishes.

Speaker 5 (18:32):
What are you doing these dishes? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (18:34):
But yeah, I just we'll see how it all plays
out of him. And then you said something interesting too.
The NBA hasn't really put out anything. And we're talking about,
you know statement, we're talking about this a little bit
yesterday when it happened in real time, and Bo, you
brought up a good question if David Stern, you know,
God blessed the dad was still alive, would this be
happening or if it would because you can't control people,

(18:56):
but how would he have handled this? I thought that
was an interesting opposition, you know, because David Stern was
just that Stern.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
I I didn't agree with everything that David Stern did
agree agree. He misstepped a number of times. He changed
the basketball without the consulting the player.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
That was like, yo's cut my hands exactly.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
I didn't like the the dress code or whatever adults like,
not when you're flying cross country in the middle of
the night and you're not truck.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
You know, on commercial flights.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
When I used to fly with the players on commercial flights,
they did put on a jacket a sport code, do
you know what I mean? Because they were out in
public representing the organization, but not the way that they fly. Now,
what are you putting on a jacket for to get
on a private plane? To get off of the back
exit at the airport?

Speaker 5 (19:44):
Right you never even.

Speaker 4 (19:45):
Going to the terminal. The bus is waiting for you
to take you straight to the hotel.

Speaker 5 (19:49):
They're going don't see anybody.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
They're going tunor Ina to put on a jersey in play,
you know, in the uniform. Then after the game, like
you said, I'm going straight either in the car going
home or I'm in a you know, our own charter plane. Right, Yeah,
I totally get that. And also I think he missed
that gravely. No pun intended.

Speaker 5 (20:08):
Uh. With the Chris Paul veto not like it.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
There's not all about that.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
I think they were worried that they couldn't take the
only asset away from the Pelicans at that time.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Remember they owned the team the league.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Yeah, but you were getting You're getting a bunch of
players and you've never done it before. It was just odd.
It was like and it was okay. Chris Paul was
amazing at that time, one of the best players. But
it wasn't like we're taking twenty four year old Kobe.
I mean, I do get you.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
You're selling a team doing how are you gonna sell
the team to own and take the best piece of it?

Speaker 3 (20:41):
Because I'm bringing you Paul Pole, Gasol and I think
it was Oldham and a bunch of other draft picks,
and that's that's a good trade. I mean, it's some pieces.
Paul's a Hall of Famer. They didn't trade.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Him an issue with that. I understood it, I really didn't.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
But anyway, Yes, David Stern, it was different under his regime.
And Adam Silver is just the marshmallow commissioner and he's
been pushed around Pillsbury, Doe boy, whatever you want to
call him. But it's been easy and play. It's like

(21:17):
they have total disregard. The only time we saw him
stand up was the Donald Sterling and that was easy
to stand up. Players players said, if if he's still
an owner, we're not playing the playoffs and all that
money and all that. The other owners were like, all right,
that's what we gotta do, like throw them overboard.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
Hey Donald, it's time brother, you guys to go. Yeah,
he's starting. I mean they're starting. Feels like at times,
the league or the players or kind of just he's
starting to feel like that substitute teacher. You remember in
middle school, high school, Missus Jones was hard on you,
or mister Smith was hard. But every now and again
you got that substitute and you need to wait, Who's

(21:53):
that's all? We got a substitute. I'm gonna do what
I want. I'm wear a hat normally I can't wear
a hat in class, or I'm gonna drip up in basketball,
or I'm gonna talk to that person I want to
talk to. Sometimes it does start to feel like a
little bit of the league, the players and maybe just
some other you know, some circumstances are treating downhim silver
like he's a substitute right now, you know, and and
and David Steren's you know, obviously absence is no longer

(22:14):
with us, But does he start? He went from the
best commissioner in sports to now people are mad at
him for not checking some things at the door stopping.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
But he's definitely hurt his image on just the stuff
that's going on and the frustration by fans, the terrible
uh TV raitings for some postseasons for All Star.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
Games he sent them old management, Yeah, load management.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
People just feel like they're getting due, paying for tickets,
Guys not playing, just taking the night off, going to
birthday parties to their five year old kids on a
Tuesday night, like.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
Just crazy stuff.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
Yeah, all right, Well, we have Will Gilroy getting Redy
to join us from the Athletic NBA writer. We'll talk
some more hoops with him, and just a little bit
Robin Kevin on a worship Wednesday. And as I mentioned,
we're joined now by Will Guillery, the Athletic NBA writer,
and gonna be talking little NBA.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
Will, Thanks for joining the show.

Speaker 7 (23:11):
What's happening appreciate, appreciate y'all for having me on.

Speaker 5 (23:14):
Man, how y'all doing doing well? Man?

Speaker 3 (23:15):
You want to put a button on the conversation for
us if you're Memphis Grizzlies, whether it be the coach,
whether it be ownership, Are you saying anything to y'ar
or just made me say, Hey, that's Jos's jar. We
don't care what's your thought?

Speaker 7 (23:28):
Yeah, I mean that is kind of how today's NBA is, right,
what these dudes kind of roll around When you're making
that much money, you got that much power as the
face of the franchise, you kind of got to work
how they want to work and kind of appeal to
how they want to do things. I think with y'all,
you know, he's just one of those guys where it
feels like he just likes to have these moments where
he's rebellious, where he's just he would like being the viility.

(23:49):
He likes people not liking him or not liking the
things he does. So I wasn't surprising at all to
see him kind of say, hey, all of y'all are
mad for me doing this? Well, I'll just take it
up to another level and see how mad I can
make all this time.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
It just sounds crazy, it really does. Where are you on.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
I think what the the Mavericks did for Luca just
I don't understand what the celebration is for. They dumped
the guy who's twenty five years old, one of the
best players in the league, and then they want to
give out T shirts and throw a party for him.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
Do you understand that.

Speaker 5 (24:23):
I really do. They were going to do this, Rob,
I really don't.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
You might want to show a little video whatever, but
giving out T shirts and acting like thanks for everything,
thanks for what you threw them out and cost him
one hundred million dollars in a contract, right.

Speaker 7 (24:37):
And not only that, they kind of kicked him in
as that's putting his way out too, throwing a bunch
of reporters, how he was out of shape, how he
was gonna be hurting five years, how they didn't want
to give him the supermacs. You got the videos that
I'm taking beers out of his hand after they win
the Western Coppa finals. I mean, it was a lot
with that exit and them kind of, you know, justifying it.

(24:57):
And now when he comes back, he's like, yeah, thanks
for everything, Luca. I mean, but you kinda have no
choice but to do it right, because you knew there
was gonna be so much emotion in the building with
him coming back and that fan base feeling the way
they do about Nico Harrison. I don't really know what
was the right thing to do, you know, other than
obviously not trade Luca, but liked This situation is just
so awkward having him back, knowing that the whole fan

(25:17):
base wishes he was never gone.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
Yeah, and that's when we were talking about this Will.
I told him, despite how they feel about Luca, this
there was optics. This was for the league, This was
for the media, This was for the fans, This is
for possible free agents.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
When you dumped the guy twenty five year old, I
do know, I don't understand that they're playing the game, Rob,
They're playing the game.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
They dumped the guy.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
I don't I don't so what we don't now by
doing that, we don't remember that they dumped a twenty.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
Five year old.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
No, it's just just trying to put a band aid
on a wound, Rob, That's what they're trying to do.
They're trying to put a pretty little band aid on
the wound and say, oops, see yes see, Sorry, we
gotta know worry about it.

Speaker 5 (25:51):
Sorry about that. When oops are bad, we're fans.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
We're gonna fixate it with love it, and we're gonna
treat you right if you come here as a free agent.
That's what they're doing. Hey, will let me switch gears
from from what we got going on here. I'm looking
at the Western Conference and as Monci was just saying
moments ago, I mean, you got six teams. I think
it is with like the same exact record. It's crazy
between three and really the ninth seed? What do you
make of this? And is there a team that you're

(26:13):
buying maybe on on an upswing right now? Could it
be the Rockets? Who are you looking at in the
West and saying, I know OKAC is in one seed.
They kind of got They've gotten that on lot pretty
much all season. Who else are you looking at saying
don't sleep on that squad?

Speaker 7 (26:25):
I mean we already talked about it. I don't think
anybody's sleeping on them, but you gotta respect that Lakers
squad with Luca and Lebron and aust Ree is playing
the way he's playing. We just saw them going in
the OKC and beat them by twenty. I mean, when
this team is locked in and they got those three
guys going and they're hitting threes and they're just really
hard to stop. They're just able to create.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
See them lose some games. So you're telling me they're
going to the finals? Is that what you're saying?

Speaker 7 (26:49):
No, I don't think anybody's beating OKC in the West
if you ask to be. But I'm just saying, if
there's a threat, I would say the Lakers are probably
the biggest threat out of all of the rest of
those teams. I mean, maybe Houston. I think that's still
too young at this point, but they got a lot
of athletes, a lot of you. They can play at
a lot of styles. They can play big, they can
play small.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
Minnesota, is there any chance like last year, Minnesota shock
Denver and wind up going like just to step away
from the finals.

Speaker 7 (27:16):
I wouldn't doubt that. But I think a big part
of that Minnesota one was with Anthony Edwards becoming that guy, right,
And when we see these teams in the playoffs, a
lot of times it's about your star becoming a superstar
on that stage. And I think that's the big question
for Houston is Is Jalen Green ready for that? Is
Alfred Shangoon ready for that? I mean, we've seen it
at times with those guys, but we definitely haven't seen
it on the playoff stage. And that's what they got

(27:38):
to show now.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
They're here with Will Gillery, of course, with the athletic
NBA writer.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
Is it just any hope in the Eastern Conference?

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Is it just simply go ahead and put the Calves
or the Celtics in there? Is there any hope for
any other team? Or is this that the conference just
a given?

Speaker 7 (27:56):
Yeah? I think it's the right man. We can just
go ahead and fast forward. I think the Knicks might
have a chance, you know, with Brunson coming back, maybe
because we've seen him, like I said, him turned up
to the superstar level in the playoffs, maybe he can
do something that will shock all of us. But I mean,
I think it will definitely be Boston Cleveland, and really
I just want to see Boston, Okay, see that's the
series I want to see. I think that's going to

(28:17):
be really exciting to see. We always talk about the
next chase of the league. I think Shay and Jason
Tatum having that moment in the finals going against each other.
I think that'll be great for the league, and that'll.

Speaker 5 (28:26):
Be a.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Cleveland and Donovan Mitchell and what they've done. I mean,
they've put together an unbelievable season as well.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
Why can't we buy into them?

Speaker 7 (28:37):
No question, I think they have been incredible this year.
And I think you got to get with Kenny Atkinson
a lot of credit for what he's done to kind of,
you know, just kind of give them more life on offense.
You've seen Evan Mobley take his game to another level.
I just think what the advantage Boston has is when
they're healthy, they're just so big at every position. Right.
You got christophs Porzingis out there shooting threes, Drew Holliday

(28:57):
and Derek White defending at the guard position, Tatum and Brown.
They're just such a matchup nightmare with all of those guys.
And then they bring Pritchard, Howser, all these guys off
the bench to shoot threes. That Boston is just such
a matchup nightmare when that healthy, I think the big
question is are they gonna stay healthy for three rounds? Right?
And we know Porzingis has his ups and downs. Drew
Holidays dealt with some stuff this year. I think that's

(29:19):
the biggest threat for Boston. Can they keep their guys
healthy through three rounds? But if they are, I just
think they're really tough for everybody.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
All Right, what if Kenny Atkinson?

Speaker 1 (29:27):
I want to ask him to follow up about that
Coach of the Year?

Speaker 4 (29:32):
Is it Kenny Atkinson?

Speaker 1 (29:33):
Is it?

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Bigger staff? Who would you pick?

Speaker 7 (29:38):
Listen? Man, I know, Rob, you knew it was gonna matter.
I saw that Detroit team what was it twenty eight
in the row last year? Yeah, I mean I was
tuning in just to watch Detroit lose games last year.
That was the appointment washing. I just want to see
if they're gonna keep losing and to go from that
to the sixth seed in the East where they're out
there trying to fight people every night. K Cunningham having
an incredible season. Man, gotta give it up to a

(30:01):
bigger staff and what he's doing under the tree, because
I never thought they'd be here this quick after what
they looked like last year.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
And why surprising because we've had a couple of writers say,
oh no, it's Kenny Atkins.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
Yeah we've heard we have heard that as well. I
thought it would be just because of what you just mentioned.
Will the turnaround? Like the Cleveland was good, they weren't
this great, but they were good. Last year the Pistons
where the laughing stock of the league. Even had Kyle
Kuzma cracking jokes. You know it's bad when Kuzma's cracking jokes. Uh,
I stay on the award season if you will. As
we're wrapping up this season. Uh, who you got? Is
it SGA or is it is it the Joker? And

(30:33):
I don't know, maybe somebody else they can be MVP.
Clearly it ain't it's just those two. But who you got?

Speaker 7 (30:39):
I gotta go shay Man. You know, I think it's
funny now because we can say, have we ever seen
the guy win MVP the same season his coach got fired?
That'll be that'll be something new. But no, I think obviously,
OK just doing some wild stuff this year, putting up
crazy numbers. But I mean, Shaye has just been unbelievable
all year. Man leading the youngest team in the league.
They're gonna win close to seventy I think that the

(31:02):
most dominant team in the West. What he's doing every
single night, and what's so impressive about it is like
he just rarely has an off night. He's just consistently
thirty points, five six assists, two three steals. It's just
you could just mark it down every single night and
just that consistency. It's just so rare in today's NBA
when we talk about guys taking nights off. Guys don't

(31:22):
play back to backs anymore. And with Shay, it's just
every night you know exactly what you're getting from him.
They don't necessarily have a lock in. We know this
guy's gonna be the number two option every night, but
they know what they're getting from Shay, and that's a
big part of what makes that team so great.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
And what about the Joker?

Speaker 1 (31:39):
With all the MVPs he's won, he's having the best
season of his career.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
We saw a sixty one point triple double love what
was the other one? Thirty twenty twenty.

Speaker 5 (31:48):
Stuff other night. I mean he's done everything.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
He's done everything, Like what what did he do wrong?

Speaker 7 (31:55):
Not necessarily what you do wrong, and sometimes what the
other guy did right? Right? I think sometimes And with
mvpople we got a reward guys for winning, right. That
guy wins close to seventy games playing the way saves playing.
It's not necessarily what Yokis isn't doing. It's just that
Mats Shaves is having an incredible season. And you know,
in seasons past we've said, hey Joel, indeed jo Kis,

(32:15):
there wasn't what But but Jokics is winning more right,
his team's the one seeds. So I think we got
a reward. Guys are winning. We gotta we got to
care more about winning than just the individual stats. I
think a lot of times in yokistart, the argument switches
whether we care about winning, our staff more w Yokis.
But that's the whole different day. But I think, say, man,
he deserves it this year. I think he's having an

(32:35):
unbelievable season and I'll be glad to see him get it.
For sure.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
I'm always surprised because Westbrook won. He wasn't a top
this team was a sixth seed, and Westbrook.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
Won an MVP. You know why, because we saw something
we had never seen before.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Yeah, I think we've already. I think that's the issue.
He took that moment, the whole triple double thing.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
You know, no, but I'm just saying, right, we just
the joke is just interesting to me. That's all I
mean with the kind of stuff. Usually when you see stuff,
you never see it could it could sway people.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
But we'll see it could be interesting. Like I thought
for shol Lamar Jackson was gonna win the MVP and
he didn't.

Speaker 5 (33:08):
Yeah, we will have to wait. See.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Hey, Will Man, thank you so much. We appreciate you,
change you, thank you, I appreciate having no doubt. Make
sure you give him a follow. Will Gillory on Twitter
at KAX Go ahead and give him a follow right there.

Speaker 5 (33:21):
All right, we got ones gotta go. One's gotta go.

Speaker 7 (33:24):
Rob.

Speaker 5 (33:24):
They all went for you right now. You're not doing
any of these things.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
You're not are consuming, I should say, but uh break
it down for you in a moment. It's the OT cover.

(34:30):
Monty told you the halftime, the Lakers.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
Up by three and Luca's got thirty.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
One points and all that kind of stuff, and there
were tears and balloons and confetti and all that.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
I guess I'm just.

Speaker 1 (34:42):
Saying yeah, And the bottom line is, given how great
a player he is, I'm gonna say this straight up, Kelvin,
He's hard to root for Luca.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
He just is.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
He's a hard watch. He complains too much. It takes
away from his talent. He wants a foul called on
every single play.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
I can't watch the dude.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
It why he's so good, he's so talented. He's a
cry baby. Does that not bother you? It bothers me,
and I don't think I'm the only one. I don't
think I have no horse in this race.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
I really I don't.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
I don't care you thought I care to. He would
have won the championship last year with the Mavericks. No,
I wasn't rooting against him or anything. I'm just saying
he's hard to root four, not about rooting against him,
like I don't want to see him win or something.
I already recognize how good of a player he is,
and his stature and what he's accomplished in such a

(35:49):
such a young age. Five All First Team NBA, I
mean five twenty five years old, like incredible. But there's
something about him that rubs me the wrong way. And
I just when I watch him, it's hard to watch.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
I can understand that. I think you're not alone. I
think a lot of people that would be the flaw
or the thing. You know, it's not his game obviously offense,
and he's got Dagner forty points already in this game,
and we all know what he's capable if he had
seventy points was it last year?

Speaker 5 (36:22):
So he is just remarkable.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
Five time All NBA First Team and you're twenty five,
twenty six years old. Well, we know who you are.
The issue is, to me, it is similar to a
lot of Lebron people call the flop you know he's been,
they call him the flop or the complaining you know,
or complaining for calls as well.

Speaker 5 (36:38):
Throughout his career.

Speaker 3 (36:40):
The main reason why I have an issue with this
for Luca is because it's not as if he complained
about a call during dead balls. It's not if he
complained about calls hey after a game. It's not if
he complained once or twice throughout the game. But you know,
the game was still slow, the other team was coming
back slowly. My big issue is that he does it,
and oftentimes is that is team's demand because he does

(37:01):
it and he doesn't get back right.

Speaker 5 (37:02):
He's yelling at the ref.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
Now that's five on four and he's still not getting back,
and he's getting back slow.

Speaker 5 (37:06):
I don't like that.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
I don't like that you're getting texts and you're hurting
us at bad times. Allah yesterday and again he was
yelling at Fanning. But but the ref had PTSD. He
saw Luca and said, oh, you must be cussing me out,
because this is what he does, and he kicked him
out the game, and again the ref was wrong, but
that became the reputation.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
So my thing is not let your reputation procede. That's
exactly why that happened.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
He turned around, he saw Luca, just like if he'd
turn around and saw Rashid Wallace, and you know that
you're covered him for all those years in Detroit. Just
like they turn around, they say Draymond, just like they
turned around they saw ron Our Test aka Meta. There's
just certain guys that end up have Steven Jackson for
a while. There's certain guys that just turned around. Oh
you get a ref, you get a tech, and they're
and they're maybe more judicious, uh or nor nuanced with

(37:49):
other players. That's his reputation. He complains, he cries, and
he you know, he doesn't get back, and that's the
thing that hurts me.

Speaker 5 (37:55):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
If you're the Mavericks, I mean here I am living
in six months ago. If you're the Lakers, now he's
their problem in this regard. If you're the Lakers, if
you are the team that has a great player, it's
one of those things you're gonna have to chalk it
up as because no human is perfect. You got Lebron, Well,
you might have to worry about him flopping or at

(38:18):
this point, obviously the last five six years, maybe he's
playing a little ola defense. But dang, I got Lebron, right,
I got Kobe. Maybe he's a little too maniacal, punching
teammates on the plane literally, and he's just too crazy.
And maybe even turn some free agency, cause, like, I
want to play with that guy. He shoots too many shots.
He turned some off. They wouldn't Nobody came none to
play with. Nobody wanted to play with Kobe that exact
Nobody wanted to play with him.

Speaker 4 (38:39):
Right, Howard gave up thirty dollars not to stay in
Lost Hand.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Exactly, So I bet you he want that money back. Yeah, well,
of course he's trying to. He been trying to get
back with the Lakers ever since. But my point is,
as I look everything you say, I totally get it.
But it's one of those things when I really thought
about this, I'm like, man, every player is flawed. Steph
Curry came in with bad ankles and he's always the
guy for a long a lot of years, especially all
those battles against the Cleveland Cavaliers where the team would

(39:05):
seek out they try to hide him from Kyrie. They
just set a pick so he has the guy career
hide him from Lebron. They just set a pick so
that he's an owl Lebron. And so that's just one
of his flaws. He had bad ankles, he was injury
prone the first half of his career, and then he's
just not great defensively and so on and so forth.
You know, Shaq could make free throws like and so
this is the thing. I get that, and I get
what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
You can change talk that about watching a guy who's
a cry baby who's so talented. It ain't like he's
crying for fouls and he's averaging nine points because you know,
like he's like, help me out, let me just get
to ten. But it's every call, That's what I'm trying
to say. It ain't even like once in a while.
It's like every call and I get never satisfied.

Speaker 3 (39:48):
And the problem with it, Rob is he's probably been
doing this since he was what eleven, twelve years old, thirteen,
I think he started playing in the pros. So I
think this has literally been what he's done and it's working,
you know. And and again, the popularity of the game
in Europe isn't quite like ours because ours is global. Uh,
theirs isn't as global. Obviously, the way in which they
go about it may be different. We already know how

(40:10):
physical they are, so I just think there may be
certain them as they they got. The guys are smoking
on the bench like it's it's just a different game,
and maybe he's not accustomed to that. But again, I
hate it from him. If I'm his teammate, Bruh, can
you get back because it's five and four right now?

Speaker 5 (40:24):
Bruh, what Luca? You got kicked out this game? You
on fire right now? With kidding.

Speaker 3 (40:29):
We about to beat the Oklahoma City then Thunder two
games in a row, and now you kicked out. So
if I'm his teammate, it drives me crazy. But I
really mean this when I say it's like Steph Curry.
I know he goes home some nights to Alicia, Hey, baby,
how was the game? I was busy with the kids
and in my new restaurant, and he just looks at
us and said, Babe, Draymond did it again. And she
knows what that meant Draymond and kicked somebody, then stepped

(40:49):
on somebody and punched somebody, and elbow somebody, and probably
they have a laugh, they have a glass of wine,
they get ticked off, whatever. But at the end of
the day, you're like, that's just my guy. And I
think if you're now Lebron, if you're now Austin Reeves,
if you're not JJ Reddick, you go.

Speaker 5 (41:04):
And you might have to go get him. Besides, you
might have to woo saw.

Speaker 3 (41:07):
You might have to do whatever you do to ease
up the pain and the annoyance because you probably sitting
there want to strangle Lucas some knights. But I just
think that's part of his thing, because every guy has
a thing. Kawhi is man, you are great, But Kawhi,
are you injured all the time.

Speaker 5 (41:22):
Yeah, But the.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
Only difference is with Kawhi and the injuries. I don't
dislike or find it hard. I'm disappointed.

Speaker 5 (41:30):
I'll tell you where you get healthy, but right, but.

Speaker 4 (41:32):
Then look at that.

Speaker 1 (41:33):
I don't look at the same thing as that, because
I do believe he's heard I do. I don't believe
he's sitting out just to sit out. I believe he's
I think he put a little extra sauce on it.

Speaker 5 (41:43):
Mancy.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
That's yourn agrees. That's her team that won two championship.
I do not question you don't have that great I
think he is.

Speaker 1 (41:49):
I don't question him at all when he plays. He's
one of the best players out I just don't. And
I think that he really had and what was going
on with the spurs down there and then medical people
and uh. And I think he's been proven right with
all the time and all the injuries that he's had
that he had.

Speaker 5 (42:07):
But I'm saying that's an issue with him.

Speaker 3 (42:08):
And also maybe you wanted somebody as an organization to
have more personality so we can have a superstar.

Speaker 4 (42:14):
I think. I think what we're talking about is different.
I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (42:18):
Looking at a guy who to me appears to be
a cry a cry baby for me to rally around
or look at a guy who's a cry baby.

Speaker 3 (42:30):
I'm gonna tell you one more reason why I can
not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Speaker 5 (42:36):
I get it. I told you, I get it.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
I'm going home getting them size who sign getting mad
at him? If I'm a teammate some nights, But The
only other reason why I'd be like, I just gotta
talk it up is because one thing we never questioned.
And I think one of the reasons why, like you know,
people say the culture rocks with Luca, is because Luca
got some gangster, some swag. He gonna talk to almost
the fault, some getting technicals, because he's gonna let you know,

(43:00):
he's gonna talk smack hit that shot off of Rudy Gobert.
You can't mother love and guard me. I mean, he's
just that type of guy, So to me, it will
be different. He was a winer, complainer and he wasn't
passionating gosh from him. I know he cares, I know
he wants to win. I know he's passionate. I know
he's fired up. So that again is why I have
to go, I just gotta talk this up. But everything

(43:22):
you said, I get it. And it's gonna cost your
team at times. It's gonna cost you a couple of
players on a fast break. It even costs you some frustration.
But I'm like, if you're building a player on NBA
two K, nobody has ninety ninety nine ninety nine attributes
like that on the sliders and everybody has a yeah,
but also there's issues.

Speaker 1 (43:38):
I'm just saying, like what you're talking about defensively could
wind up coming back to bite you because.

Speaker 4 (43:44):
He's so caught up in the officials and all that
other stuff. You want a guy to be focused. You
don't want to be playing, uh, you know, undermanned or
down a man because he's back one thing. You fall
down and your ainkle hurt.

Speaker 1 (44:00):
But you just did jawn at an official and enough,
how many points do you want to score? You got
fifty tonight and you're still jawing at the like, that's
what I'm talking about.

Speaker 4 (44:10):
It ain't like he's a nine.

Speaker 5 (44:11):
Post fifty five rob and those are five free throws
they rob me.

Speaker 4 (44:15):
Of exactly every single time. I mean, I don't know.
He's not on my list as somebody.

Speaker 3 (44:23):
You don't want to call it the call it the
Rob Parker can get a credential any game. We know
that because you've been covering the lakes is nineteen eighty seven.
I'll get it out the way for you, but we'll
call it the is Luca a guy? You want to
pay money for it? Like, hey, I want to go
pay I'm paying my one hundred and fifty bucks to
go to the Laker game to night.

Speaker 5 (44:41):
I want to go to Luca.

Speaker 1 (44:43):
I get his talent is unquestioned. It's just his demeanor
and the way he plays, and the emphasis on paying
attention to the officials, Like that's who, that's who. You
don't want to be paying attention to play balls, stop
with the officials. Maybe that's why you know his team

(45:04):
hasn't won yet, or he hasn't won an MVP yet
or whatever it is.

Speaker 4 (45:07):
You know what I mean, Like he's so talented, I
just don't remember great. I don't remember.

Speaker 1 (45:13):
Michael Jordan, those guys worrying about an official all the time,
with that talk about.

Speaker 3 (45:21):
The great the only last thing and and bo tell
me if you feel me on this bow.

Speaker 7 (45:27):
Is.

Speaker 3 (45:28):
I think we have so much access to everything now
that when I go back and watch you know, I'm
watching Celtic City. I watched documentaries, and I'm a nut
on documentary, documentary sports. When you got me at documentary,
I'm in.

Speaker 5 (45:39):
We forget. Dudes did cry way more than we remember.
Dudes cry.

Speaker 7 (45:45):
Cry.

Speaker 4 (45:46):
You show me Michael Jordan crying on every play.

Speaker 3 (45:49):
He ain't Luca lev I'll gave you that, But dudes
cry way more than we remember. We just didn't see
it because everything wasn't nationally televised or put on our
social media. You just didn't see a random Tuesday night
at Boston with Larry.

Speaker 4 (46:00):
You night after night a lot. And I'm telling you
just from being at their arena.

Speaker 1 (46:06):
And and there was a coach, Gary Saint Jean, and
he used to do he was a Nets assistant coach,
went to UH to the Warriors, and he used to
he used to say, are.

Speaker 4 (46:15):
You blink blinking me every single call? You know what
I mean?

Speaker 1 (46:19):
And I remember him, but I just don't remember players
like constantly. And I'm saying, like, it's just a turnoff play, dude,
Why are you focused on the officials? Yeah, they make
a call on a big play. You should have an
and one to tie the game. Should you say something
or something that's obvious?

Speaker 5 (46:39):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (46:40):
In a situation, Hey, I'm gonna start on this league,
I should be able to get that call. But you
won't get that call when when you're belly aching about
every call.

Speaker 3 (46:50):
Well leave it right there. Eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox, Luca. You like the aesthetics of him playing
half the times he's gonna complain oftentimes, is gonna, you know,
not get back on deal or as you just talking up,
talking to the game.

Speaker 5 (47:01):
You know, it's just part of the game.

Speaker 3 (47:02):
