Brick-And-Mortar Bookstores Are Making A Comeback

Donnamel Kiona is a small woman with salt and pepper
hair pulled back. She wears a maroon Serendipity Bookshop sweatshirt
as she greets customers with a huge smile.

I do think I might have been a little bit crazy.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Crazy to open an independent bookstore when Barnes and Noble
can barely compete with Amazon. But in her first week,
books were flying off the shelves.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
I've probably sold out more than half my inventory, and
I have about twenty five orders over four hundred, five
hundred books coming in over the next week and week
and a half.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
With several cozy places to sit. It's more than just
a bookstore, a place for community to come together.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
I know bookstores are a thing of the past, but
I also feel like people want this again, and they
need this again.
