Court filing show Boston City councilor Tanya Fernandez Andersen has
signed a new plea deal in her federal corruption case.
As part of the deal, she is set to plead
guilty to the corruption charges involving her family. This all
stems from an issue back in twenty twenty two. The
council does not allow counselors to hire immediate family members
to their staff, but prosecutors say that's exactly what she did,
and allegedly gave the relative a bonus so she could

get some as a kickback and her federal indictment. Prosecutors
say she lied about the person being her relative and
also lied about the true nature of the bonus. Fernandez
Andersen was already set to be in federal court on
Wednesday on the charges, although now with the plea agreement
in place, it's not clear what the hearing will actually entail.
Fernandez Andersen represents parts of Roxbury, the South End, and Dorchester.
