Haverhill's Riverside Church Helps Relieve Medical Debt

It was a Sunday Morning ask.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
It basically expressed the needs that we were hearing of
different families and people that have been really overwhelmed by
some of the debt that they were experiencing.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Lead Pastor Marc Rivera says the Riverside Church Congregation raised
ten thousand dollars in a partnership with the company Undue
Medical Debt. They buy debt from healthcare providers for pennies
on the dollar and then forgive it. That money will
become a one point three million dollar burden lifted for
fifteen hundred local families.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
And these are really sort of the initiatives that churches
and this is my humble opinion that I think churches
should be engaged in.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
He expects they'll be sending out letters in the next
three to five weeks.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
They're going to experience a real tangible demonstration of grace
during this Easter season in Haverol.
