Paddlers Gather For The Run Of The Charles

Laurie drove up from Brooklyn for the race.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
I love the Charles River and I just wanted a
chance to paddle it.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
For her, it's not about winning, it's about enjoying the river.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
We're just doing the sixth mile. We plan it finishing
in about two hours, so we're not really gonna race.
We're just gonna hang out and relaxed and paddle.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
But she's not too thrilled about the cold wind blowing
against her.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
It's a little bit called.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
I was planning on doing some rolls, but I don't
think I will some what some rolls? Will you flip
and come back up? But I don't think I'm gonna
do that. Today.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
The race raises some money for the CRWA, but for
Emily Riling, it's more about knowing and loving the river.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
The Charles River is not the dirty water of the past.
It is clean, It is oftentimes safe to recreate on,
and it's a treasure that we have in our backyard.
Everyone should take advantage of it and want to protect
it and improve it.
