Though she is dangerously empathic and deeply afraid, Bronagh agrees to try to meet a suitor for her grandmother Ealga's sake. She promised to attend the harvest festival, but the closer she approaches, the more her fear grows and she risks revealing her secret, the ominous warning haze that emits from her body.
But someone approaches.
Someone she hasn't seen in a very, very long time... and isn't sure...
Ealga is furious that Bronagh didn't show up at the harvest festival--as far as she knows, anyway. She commiserates about what to do with Abban the Locksmith, Cara the Soul-Shepherd, and Turlough, the Innis tribal king.
