Dec 31 Getting Older Thinking Differently

I'm almost 82 years old and have had threats against me for my constitutionally conservative radio spots and essays.  So when I, or a loved one with me is exposed to danger, I often pack.  I've owned a concealed carry permit nearly all my adult life, and long ago the NRA qualified me as expert.

But I don't like to think about shooting anything for any reason. Then last week, I ...

Jan 1 Importing our destruction

I've been on the Mark Stein Show a few times. I really like the guy. A few years ago, he wrote a book,  “America Alone.”

He said, someday, soon, you might wake up to the call of Muslim prayers.  Europeans already are. Well, Mark wrote that before Obama and the mass invasion by military-age Muslims.

And now we have, now in cities all over the country, we have Muslim calls to prayer. George Orwell&ap...

Perch with Attitude

People have claimed for years that I am "certifiable." But I actually achieved my PADI Certification back in the 90s.  The class was amazingly fun and we had access to the YMCA pool for training.  In the safety of that pool, we learned all the skills required for the PADI program.

As our final test, we had to dive in a quarry to demonstrate our skills.  It was a hot day and the water was warm so we were ...

Dec 29 Hearts of Dead Christians

“In that man beats the heart of a Christian.” That's literally true, even if the man is a communist and an atheist. (0:09) And the problem lies with the Chinese Communist Party's forced organ harvesting from religious and ethnic minorities.

Congressman Christopher Smith is trying to stop it with H.R. 1503. (0:23) They passed it in the House by one vote, but it remains dormant in the Senate. ...

Maybe you remember General Mark Miley, towards the end of Trump's first administration he called the Chinese military to tell them that he would warn them that Trump was going to cause any trouble. (0:12) That was treason. (0:14) Yet General Miley wasn't court-martialed.

(0:16) But there's some ex-military members in Congress right now that may not escape court-martial. (0:23) General Trump cal...

"First Snow of Winter" by Steve Adams
I am sitting at the window, coffee in hand, staring out at a white and grey wonderland.  We have the first snow of the season today.  The oak tree has a snowy topping, like icing on a cake, and the ground has transformed from green to a fluffy, uniform white.
The neighborhood kids are out of school today.  They have sleds out and some are building snowmen.  Others are engaging...

There are ten steps to destroying America, and all ten are firmly in place.  One, the surrendering of America's energy independence. Two, inflating the currency, which will punish those on fixed incomes while expanding the welfare state.  Three, erasing our national borders.  Four, destroying the public's faith in fair elections, and make it easy for fraud by ballot harvesting and mail-in voting. Five, redefining crime a...

About 30 years ago, the armed force decided to be inclusive with military chaplains.  Up till then, chaplains were mainly Jews or Christians.  The military personnel were given comfort from God.The ACLU got involved, and chaplains could be anything from Wiccans, Satanists, whatever.  Can you imagine sending someone into battle right before a Satanist blessing?  It's not gotten any better.  The Army Spiritual Fitness Guide is o...

You see where the Trump administration plans to ramp up efforts to strip some nationalized Americans of their citizenship, and the New York Times is really angry about this. They said that we're going into litigation with 100 to 200 denaturalization cases per month.  When back in 2017, up until now, there were just 120 cases filed.

I think it's about time we denaturalized some of the people that are in America working aga...

New York Mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani recruited Catherine de Costa to be the Director of Appointments, and then it was discovered that she's an anti-Semite. Not a good thing since New York City has a whole lot of Jewish children, Jewish mothers, Jewish grandfathers, and so on.  Someone serving them shouldn't hate them. Mamdani described her as "mission-driven and deeply capable, and reflects a rich diversity of race, fa...

"A Christmas Gift" by Steve Adams
As the weather cools and the Holidays approach, I remembered today, "it is time to decorate again."
We have always put out a large display.  It grows over time because I try to add something new each year.  I tend to create scenes where each item creates its own little picture.  In a way, walking through our yard is like taking a short stroll through Disney.  When you ...

I feel like giving up on mainstream news media when I want some answers.  For instance, the January 6th pipe bomber.  We were told the guy was white. No, he was black. We were told that he was opposing the outcome of the 2020 election. But we learned the guy actually started building bombs a year before. Biden administration had four years to catch this guy, but somehow they just passed it up. And after I look at what the guy is, n...

President Trump has called Ilhan Omar to return to Somalia. And he just removed the temporary protected status from Somalis in Minnesota.  And that's the first time that's happened in 34 years. A lot of people think they have something going on in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.  Even if they live there, they do not.  All you get is bits and pieces of the fake news. I think most people are afraid to even discuss the subject...

In finance, we have a term, "other people's money."  The politics built on other people's money isn't just fiscally unsound, but psychologically seductive.  Progressive policy design increasingly caters to four deeply rooted negative human tendencies. Dependency, risk displacement, infantilization, and grievance incentives.  Those aren't partisan inventions.  They're human nature. The divide exist...

In 2018, I spent a happy afternoon with Mike Lindell, the owner of MyPillow.  He's been a fervent supporter of President Donald Trump, and now he's officially entered the race for Minnesota governor to challenge the corrupt, racist Tim Walz.  Mike said of himself, "I have a record of solving problems and personal experiences that will help businesses fight addiction, homelessness, as well as the massive fraud in gov...

    The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
