Coast Breakfast brought to you by Bargain Chemist Their policy
new Zealand's cheapest chemist.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Tony Jason Sam's feel Good Breakfast, Cat Sharp.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Podcast Bigge Weekend for New Zealand this weekend as well.
Black camps against India in the test. We smashed India
all out for forty six.
Speaker 4 (00:17):
Sold them for forty six in a test.
Speaker 1 (00:19):
I know what doesn't happen to us, you.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
Know, that's big thing.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Also, before half our six we need to talk about
the America's Cup because honestly this has gone back to
a knife fen and I don't like him. We'll talk
more about that shortly, but right now we are in
New York and one of the big moments I was
hanging out for and we arrived and we've done amazing things.
We've been in Huntington, we've been to the Hampton's, we've
been Long Island. But now we're in Manhattan and that
moment where those city lights started sparkling in your eyes
(00:47):
Tony Street. The biggest thing I noticed was how tall
the buildings were.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
They were giant.
Speaker 1 (00:53):
And we also went in this tunnel which was a
little bit terrifying because it had no windows or anything
for a very long time, and then you out the
other side of the tunnel. When he comes to the city,
we've already been to. The first stor we went to
was the M and M Store, which I loved, and
we got some character toure themed plates and M and
(01:13):
M golf balls which.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Was pretty cool.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
Yeah, and I used the whole thing about this day.
It was a huge day, you know. We started in
the Hampton's We went to a Halloween festival which was
mind blowing, and then we arrived here at probably about
nine o'clock at night.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Was that about min Yeah? Yeah, there was.
Speaker 5 (01:30):
No good reason after a five m start that we
should be wandering the streets.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
We felt like we owed it to the city. We
did get about bearings a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
The thing with New York and you talk to anyone
who's been here before and if you've been lucky enough
and you know what I'm about to say, it gets
into you and you just have to get amongst it,
like you got to get amost that hustle and bustle.
Remember Mary Joe, the flight attend from in New Zealand.
Her advice was, as soon as you get off that flight,
just go out and be amongst the people as we did,
so can them.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
But I think the thing about New York that I
didn't realize. I just thought knew New York was the city,
like I knew it was a state. But we we
were at one point in countryside, like literally looking at
pumpkins in the country with leafy greens everywhere, and then
suddenly we're now in the concrete jungle. New York is
so much more than just the glittering light.
Speaker 5 (02:11):
You're even at the lighthouse yesterday we were kind of
in the middle of episode and now is still New
York State.
Speaker 6 (02:16):
Yeah, and the houses out their own, all the houses and.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
We saw one for sales.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Kind of blow your mind and think about the most
expensive house in New Zealand. What but thirty forty million
dollars if you're lucky more than twice there it's mind team.
More about it soon. But again, travel UISA have got
this deal on the moment. You can follow our footsteps
and literally do the trick we're doing to discover more
of what a way to New York State. Start planning
by looking at I Love ny dot com and also
on our website as well to find out what the
(02:42):
travel USA deal is for you for listening to Coast.
Just go to Coast online dot co dot nz. Friday
morning into the weekend, we go good luck with Lotto
tomorrow night. So twenty six million dollars in Loto tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Hey, yeah, that's a palesand in comparison here, what's four
hundred and twenty million half a billion dollars?
Speaker 3 (02:59):
Yeah, that's the New York Lottery right now we can't
be part of it.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Sadly we need a green cart be really high as one.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
You just never know, right, I tell you I don't
want drink things, but you who might need to weave
the luck from here on.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
Our is Team New Zealand.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Only a couple of days ago we were four nil up,
and remember this is a race to seven to win
the America's carp Now.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
I like this defeatist attitude from you need luck now suddenly.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
No, I just get a little bit nervous because now
any US Britannia have struck bad.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
It's now four to two.
Speaker 6 (03:35):
It's good for the sport. I'll tell you what was
every time? Yeah we didn't want seven nol that was
that's too easy. That it's boring and it's ever been that.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
It's never been that before, because well remember when we
were up seven one and they came back. So what
I'm saying is it's normal for the other team to
hit back at some point. But bo Ainsy, though he's
a new Jimmy Spill, isn't he digging it at us
without the same you know how Jimmy Spiddle's kind of
got that cheeky, smiley way about him.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
I reckon.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
I hate to say this, Ben Amsy's just coming across
as a bit of a winder.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
You got a smile, you throw a little bit cleverl
with it.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
He's well, he's waked us between the eyes though, So
Sir Ben Ainsley, who is the skipper of Eneos Britannia,
He's come out saying, yeah, I'm surprised to New Zealand
and didn't you have practice on their late day?
Speaker 4 (04:23):
They pretty much took the day off. We went out
and practiced.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
I reckon, he's literally taking a play from Jimmy Spiddle's book,
because remember when I was there in San Francisco, this
is what Jimmy Dispiittle did, and every single press conference
they just threw the daggers and I think he was
trying to plant seeds of doubt in Team New Zealand.
I reckon su Ben's gone. While it worked in San Fran.
I'm just going to keep throwing them a so.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
But you know he did pretty well because when when
Brittannia first won that first match, were one two of
them against us down. When he did that, he became
the first skipper in ninety years to win an America's
Cup race for England.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
He's like a god in the UK, like the Royal
Car sailing is scene is very upper class. That's what
Royles loves Sabina Ainsley like he is a hero now
that he's said he's done this.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
You watch the mouth on the man though, you know,
for a man that's having a crack speaking the cover
the other day, what's really funny.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Sabina Ainsley's had a cracky rack at Stephen mckaiveer when
we were in San Francisco. The person who had got
cracked on by Jimmy Spootall was Craig's Tenaway broadcasters are.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Obviously that's what's making me nervous. I'm seeing Sanfran all
over again.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
We've got a mouthy skipper we've got people attacking the
press and now the comeback could be on.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
All I'm saying is tomorrow morning, the racing is on again,
and I'm hoping, I'm crossing. I want to even bus
out results.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Let's be honest, though, macaigros tedaway would have been a
bit annoying.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
On the road in New York and literally on the
road with the man behind the wheel of this incredible
tour bus we're on.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
Eric.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Hello, Now, the reason Eric is creeping us out right
now is because we are at the Spook to heculate
Halloween blazing pumpkins. You've brought us here on quite a
special bus. Can you just tell us how it was
fitted out specifically for some of the top sports teams
here in the States.
Speaker 7 (06:12):
Sure, the bus was reconfigured for the needs of the
athletes and stuff like that. The seating arrangements were changed
and some special features were added for the players, and
we use it for several different franchises. Minor league team
from the Philadelphia Phillies, also Minor League hockey team from
(06:33):
the Philadelphia Flyers.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
Yeah, we've decided we look more like our hockey team
than a basketball team, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
But it's a special bus, so it's got some special
features in the back of this bus, don't they sure.
Speaker 7 (06:43):
There's a nice big cooler to keep things and any
food or beverages that they want to keep relatively cool
on a long period of time, and very nice accommodating
laboratory facilities for your.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Classroom wills a little bit, and the micro from you know,
the bathroom on the back. Don't push the alarm button,
you know, Eric.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
One of the cool things about having you is you've
been taking us around everywhere and you have seen our itinerary.
Now a lot of people back home are going to
want to follow in our footsteps and do this exact trip.
What would you say about what you've seen so far?
Speaker 7 (07:19):
Well, the places that I've been to so far, I've
been to a couple of them before. The lighthouse and
the point on Montalk Point is absolutely fabulous. It's breathtaking
for people to come out and see it. And the
things that this group's going to be doing over the
next ten days on top of it, as they head
into upstate New York, even after they get out of Manhattan,
(07:43):
New York City and Manhattan itself is just fascinating in
its own little world. But the stuff that they're going
to see in Upstate New York is also breathtaking as well.
I think they're really going to have a wonderful time
as far as the places and the features that they're
going to highlight and showcase for you is over the
next ten days.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
And I hope you get to drive through the Hntons
again because that is just a stunning, stunning place through.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
Tight spots for buses.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
And I have to congratulate you through a heac of
castle because even you will.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
I don't know if we'll get through here, but you
did it. Man.
Speaker 7 (08:15):
Again, I'm doing this long enough to know. Just watch
my clearances and watch everything because actually actually you do
a lot of shutting your eyes and praying as you
go through it too.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
So you gave me some advice today about not picking
up a pumpkin. Can you just quickly tell me why
you did that?
Speaker 7 (08:36):
Quickly? I picked up a pumpkin that I really shouldn't have.
Stupidity one oh one lost grip of the pumpkin before
I had it loaded. My wife and I were loading
it in our family vehicle.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
And this is not a New Zealand pumpkin This is
a big old American pump This.
Speaker 6 (08:53):
Is a big pumpkin.
Speaker 7 (08:55):
Lost control of the pumpkin before I got it to
the vehicle, but I made sure I saved it from
going and following to the ground. But along with doing that,
I ripped out all the muscles in my shoulder. Was
they literally tour because of the wheat of the pumpkins.
Speaker 6 (09:12):
So it's a.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
Public service announcement a heit of Halloween. I don't think
we have any pumpkins Big and New Zealand.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
But you know, you just got to be careful, you know,
Happy Halloween. He reckon.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
By the way, you can see the pumpkin blaze that
we're looking at. This is incredible. It's going to blow
your mind. Follow us at Coast Breakfast and you can
follow in our footsteps. Do this exact took thanks to
travel to you. We say details at Coast online dot
co dot in Z.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
Right now, I want to talk to you about the
greatest TV episode to ever exists. Would you like to
make some suggestions where I'm going to take this?
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Can we just preface this right? You get overly excited
and you claim things to be the best, and you
change it on the daily.
Speaker 6 (09:46):
No, no, that's not true.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
This one's instance farms quod games you sold is the
greatest thing, can change something else.
Speaker 6 (09:52):
While there were severance along the way as well.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
You also see pizza we ate two days ago was
the best pizza you've ever eaten.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
I have to say that get carried away at the moment.
Speaker 6 (10:01):
I wear my emotions on my sleeve.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
But this one's different because this one is twenty years
in the making and it is the final episode of
the Grand Tour. So we know who's in the Grand Tour.
It's Jeremy Clark's and James May and Richard Hamild.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
This is the new top Yer.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
It was when you say it's the new top Gear,
it's the one that's now it's finished. This is the
final episode.
Speaker 6 (10:23):
So that's matt LeBlanc in that no no no. So
that was the BBC one, So that carried on in
terms of top Gear.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
But remember these guys started this twenty two years ago
on the BBC as top Gear. Then they went their
own way and set it up on Prime or Amazon Prime,
and it was the Grand Tour and they endeavored to
make a few serious well they have said that this
is their final special. This Trio as a group of
men that travels the world looking and reviewing and driving
cars and doing great journeys will no longer exist. And
(10:49):
for a lot of people that have watched top Gear
for twenty years, this is a monumental moment.
Speaker 6 (10:54):
And it was more than that because throughout the Grand.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
Tour they never were able to speak of anything that
happened on top Gear because it was owned by the
BBC and they had to avoid that it all cost.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
At the end of this episode, I don't want to
give too much away.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
Don't worry.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
I'm definitely not what I should not wash this because
I haven't watched this secretly cerialial.
Speaker 6 (11:12):
Moment where they go and visit a bulboar tree. Right.
Speaker 5 (11:15):
But the problem is they cut it with the original
journey to Botswana twenty two years earlier, and it's literally
it shows the progression of these men. It shows them
twenty years earlier and the fact that they spent the
last twenty years entertaining the world and the wai it
is cut. It is a monumental moment and a sad
moment because you even you have to say that what
(11:36):
those guys have achieved in terms of television is monumental.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Look, if we could have a TV show that went
for twenty years, would be happy.
Speaker 8 (11:42):
You know.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
The scary thing is three since we started Breakfast together,
where we're probably approaching fifteen years.
Speaker 6 (11:47):
So maybe what we need to do is go find
a bilboar tree.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Surely we could have still been on Breakfast if we choosing.
Speaker 6 (11:53):
Who knows all I was saying it is.
Speaker 5 (11:58):
It's on Amazon Prime. It's the final episode of the
Grand Tour. It's called One for the Road and it is.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Stud It's Good to.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Coasts Feel Good Breakfast catch up podcast with Tony Street,
Jays Reeves and Sam Wallace.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
You can win five thousand dollars Coast Cash for Christmas.
So there's been a bit of a rough time lately,
and for a lot of us it has been. Right
now he's staring down the barrel of Christmas. That could
be pretty freaky. So if you let us know the
songs that make you feel good or not, because the
more songs you rate, the more chances you have to
win this money takes music to two six nine nine'll
go to our website Coast online dot co dot nz.
With five grand you put it towards this amazing you invention.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
I was going to say, someone who's not going through
hard times as Elon Musk, and he keeps reinventing and
inventing new things. And the latest thing is a humanoid robot.
I don't know if you've seen this, but it actually
you know, I'm not that much into tech in space,
but I saw this robot and I went, wow, if
I could get someone to do one of these jobs
for me, So have a listen to these.
Speaker 4 (12:55):
Jobs the robot will actually be able to do.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
If you've got one in your home, about twenty to
thirty thousand dollars, don't you do that motion to me?
Speaker 4 (13:03):
So it's not going to have putting they felt on
a robot. That's not too bad for robots.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
It was going to be a higher price. You know,
instead of a car, you could get a robot. And
I would prefer a robot because this is what it does. Okay,
So it can go and grab packages for you at the.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Door, because for that, like your male lazy your plants.
It can clean water.
Speaker 6 (13:30):
And robots a great combination.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
It can clean your kitchen, did the dishes and loaded
my dishwasher.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
It can bring in my groceries. That's helpful.
Speaker 6 (13:45):
Stack them on the shelves.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
I didn't get there far.
Speaker 6 (13:47):
Bringing them is not the hard part, No, it is,
well your place it is.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
You have to walk up the dragway, past the hedging
and the ball and the palm tree, trying.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
To push the button in the elevator. Yeah, it can
also serve your food.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
So imagine if you've just had a really hard day
and you're like, can you just bring me some pasta
robots and down on you will love sound of something.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
I loved the sub as well. They're called optimists. Already
sold me Optimists as a robot around the house. And
you've got people who just show up. And I'm lucky
enough to live in a very real social neighborhood and
sometimes the labors will.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Just pop up.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Or do you want yours to be a bouncer? So
those annoying neighbors don't come around? Female might fail like.
Speaker 5 (14:30):
The jitsuns and she wears around the corner, and.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
About someone who shows up and expected to these sorry,
sorry optimists, can you please make a planner for us?
Speaker 4 (14:44):
But the thing, you know, the jobs you're not very
good at, Optimist.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Think I like that you've told me what you want
to do with the robot.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
Stop now because I don't want to.
Speaker 6 (14:53):
Hear so let me tell you what.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Stop enough. We are in New York right now and
you can find out what to wait. You are on
the entire state. I love ny dot com and travel
usay have this steal on right now that you can
follow on our footsteps and actually do this.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Trip coast online dot cod On ins in.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
And part of the trip we've done is this incredible
thing called a Pumpkin Blaze.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
This was I think one of the things I was
most looking forward to is someone that loves Harla D's
and Americans just do Halloween so well.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
So essentially what it was. It was in a.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Place called Best Page and it was in a sort
of forest. And what you did is you walked around
and it was a giant area like how many k's.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Would we have walked at least two, two or three ks.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
And the whole way round was carved pumpkins and it
was like a massive light display of lit up pumpkins,
haunted houses.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
It's just a Halloween person's dream.
Speaker 5 (15:47):
And when we say carved pumpkins, we're not just talking
about eyes and nose, a mouth and a candle, and
behind it these people are carving faces.
Speaker 6 (15:54):
There was a Roy Wilbison, there was Celindon.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
It was Mariah Carey Beetlejuice, the latest movie.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
Yeah, that's right, And me and producer Rosie walk around.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
We're lucky enough to meet one of the kabas Bianca
and she explained how this whole process works.
Speaker 9 (16:08):
Yeah, so there is there's a big industrial light inside
so that I can see how much light's coming through.
And I started with a drawing basically and lay out
all the lines, and so wherever I want the darkest
parts to be, like what would be black, I leave
the skin of the pumpkin. A lot of people think
we paint them.
Speaker 8 (16:24):
We don't.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
It's all just the pumpkin.
Speaker 9 (16:27):
And then so I scrape away what I want to
be lighter. And the farther you dig into the pumpkin,
the lighter it gets. So it's almost kind of like backwards,
like the farthest parts from you look the closest.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
How long would take you to do one? And how
long did I last?
Speaker 5 (16:40):
Once they made.
Speaker 6 (16:41):
These big guys take me about four or five hours.
Speaker 9 (16:44):
And they same as the small ones.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
They last about a week.
Speaker 5 (16:47):
Oh, you just can't replace it.
Speaker 8 (16:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (16:49):
Yeah, every week we carve about five hundred and they
get replaced.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
It's mind blowing to see it. And as you see Tony,
you walk through.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
So if you picture so the fist of the lights,
that book couldo can New Plymouth or you know the
Hasting's Amp showgrounds and around New Year's Eve.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
It's kind of like that, but on a difference because
music set to it as well.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
It's like that on steroids. And even the one I'm
talking about one display here, which was the Statue of Limits,
which was all cut out of pumpkins. It had one
hundred and fourteen pumpkins just for that one display, and
that was like a tiny.
Speaker 6 (17:20):
Bit on there.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
And there was you know, like creepy smoke coming out
of the forest. In one area there was a chew
chew train of pumpkins. There were all of our star
signs were there.
Speaker 5 (17:31):
Yeah, the Ferris Wheel, Yeah yeah, Ferris were a lighthouse
which was casting lights across.
Speaker 6 (17:35):
The whole park.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
The Lockness Monster darts.
Speaker 6 (17:38):
Yeah, a haunted house in the middle of it.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
All the sun flowls were all carved out of pumpkins
and just amazing.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
And we'll take us some amazing fighters of this as well,
and if you keep it on our socials today at Coast.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Breakfast, you ever see those right throughout today as well.
It is phenomenal.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
And again, if you want to do the strip and
follow in our footsteps, Travel USA have put together a deal.
You can find it all Coast online, dot co dot
m Z. Big day today not just the eighteenth of October,
but it's also World Fruit and Beach Day officially World
Fruit and Beach Day today.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Oh, this is awkward that you've brought that up. And
we'll talk about healthy fruit and vegetables after eight today,
But right now I need to talk to you about
chocolate because there is a chocolate that is breaking the internet,
and it is a chocolate made here in New Zealand.
So have a listen to this. A cookie dough croissant
chocolate bar. I just need to give you guys a visual.
(18:24):
So it's essentially a chocolate bar with the most delicious
looking cookie dough slash croissant in the middle.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
And it's made other than the House of Chocolate.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
So the House of Chocolate actually been making a name
for themselves here in New Zealand quite a few times.
With the different flavors and different types of chocolates. Well,
this is the last one. So this is what it
feels like in the mouth. Sweet and salty, housemade cookie
dough and robed in milk and gold chocolate, topped with
crispy buttery croissant flakes.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
Rushed.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
That's an incredible word in I'm just reading it here. Enveloped.
It's enveloped.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
They've got a crush video which is apparently next level.
I haven't seen it yet. One of these slick bricks
will set you back twenty bucks, but it's worth every cent.
And I'm just looking at the video and I'm looking
at the slick brick en rowed, and I'm thinking this
could be me. This is definitely a bit of me.
Who has this house of chocolate? Oh, I'm pretty sure
(19:22):
that they are an Auckland based chocolate company.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
Right, do you know?
Speaker 5 (19:25):
It takes me to their iconic American chocolate bar because
we are in New York.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
The butterfinger, the butter fingers, the butter fingers.
Speaker 10 (19:33):
Kind of like it's hard to explain, but it's kind
of like a flat and the croissant, the flaky pits
of croissant that kind of sent me there. It's almost like,
I guess a honeycomb, but different from like a hockey
pokey con honey yeah, wish you get one.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
Any think it's hockey pokey. In fact, we were at
the M and M store last night. That was one
of the first places we went here, but.
Speaker 6 (19:52):
Over this time. Remember I had a few fell over
an M and M.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
But do you do you know what's really funny.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Velvet rope. You hadn't had any cocktails before we read
this time.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
We got into the Eminem store and Sam's like, oh,
I don't want Eminem stuff, do I? And then literally
five minutes later You're like, yep, I'll have one of
those Emining golf balls.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
I'll have the pjs, I have that drink bottle.
Speaker 6 (20:14):
I got the chapstick as well sticks.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
My kids three floors in everything.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
When we come, we get pulled into the store and
awful too. I got some iminium bowls.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
And then when I crossed the road is to Hershey store.
This is like a chocolate corner.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
It's just awful. You know where we're going to head today.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Jason and I have spied Apparently it's the world's best
socker store, which you'd think would be in the UK,
but anyway.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
Yeah, it's also because if we're here for Tony Streets
Peak Spander as well. So Teresa's got the money to
speed we don't. We just regular up on credit cards.
Fun times.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
But we're going to take her to Fifth Avenue today
to Tiffany on Fifth.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Avenue because she has an issue with shoes because she
has large feet and she can't get any shoes. So
we are going to talk to Teresa next about her shopping.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
Friday morning into the week, can we go?
Speaker 3 (21:00):
What a weekend it's going to be to the sillver
Ferns against Australia tomorrow night for the Constellation Cup.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
We were labor weekend.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Next weekend we got Awkland nef Cea playing their first
game tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Ever, you've got Halloween fast approaching, then I want to
start getting the spooky stuff up.
Speaker 6 (21:12):
It was really working on a bit of makeup prep
at our place, have you? Yes? Very nice?
Speaker 3 (21:17):
All So Liam Lawson takes the wheel for Redbell on
Monday for New Zealand as well. But right now we
are in and we're here for Tony Street Speaks Beender.
Of course, Teresa is here, and last night we drove
into Manhattan.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
They don't wait to tell you all about our first
thoughts because we were right at night.
Speaker 6 (21:39):
Yeah we did. Is she a live wire?
Speaker 5 (21:41):
And she was dragging us through the sunflower fields yesterday
and then she was the first to leave the hotel
for a look around Times Square last night.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
And I hope she's having a nice sleep in this morning.
You were a sleeping this morning.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
So last night, after the big walk around Manhattan, two
Times Square and we're standing in the lobby recording this
last night, we asked her about the bagel, her prinzel.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
She finally got that. How was it, Teresa? It's good.
Speaker 8 (22:02):
It's fresh, little salty, little expensive, but it's good.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Tell us what your first thoughts were, Grace and Teresa.
When we arrived in the bus and we suddenly saw
all the high rise buildings, Oh.
Speaker 11 (22:16):
My gosh, speechless. I didn't know whether to laugh or
scream or cry. I was just actually emotional, like it's
what you dream of.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
It was just so amazing.
Speaker 8 (22:24):
Yeah, I was really emotional. I went to say something
to Grace, turned to Grace and I actually had to
pause and swallow. So, yeah, that caught me off guard,
really emotional.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
One of the first things we did here was we
went for a bit of a walk around the streets.
So we went down the Broadway and we went to
Times Square. What was that like seeing those lights at
this time of night? Times Square, Teresa, What do you think?
Speaker 8 (22:46):
I was in a movie set and I was a star.
It was just a crew. I actually had to do
a three sixty. Yeah, just to soak it all up.
Speaker 11 (22:56):
Yeah, And all the ads are flashing and everyone's trying
to get your attention.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
It's amazing. And it's so busy.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
You think it's, you know, midday. Yeah, it's eleven o'clock
at night and people are just out in force. And
over the weekend we're going to be going to Broadway,
We're going to Central Park.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
We're doing a big tour. So I just can't wait.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
And our big quiest what are we looking for specifically
for you in terms of what.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
You want to buy? Should we say it together?
Speaker 8 (23:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (23:20):
Show who.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
You can follow this trip at Coast Breakfasts on Instagram
and Facebook.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
More from Tony Street Try We Need to Talk Tony's
health and lifestyle podcast. Now back to Coasts Feel Good Breakfast.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Ketch up with Tony Jason Sam.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Friday morning, and this time next week we're getting ready
for Labor weekend across Altiato and New Zealand. And of course,
if you're a key when it comes to Labor weekend,
you get stuff done. You might do some stuff around
the house, you might get it ready for summer coming soon.
You might have to catch up with some friends. But
if you're in New York where we are right now,
you might make your way of the Hampton's your holiday
home in the Hamptons.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
Yeah, and you're getting ready for big holidays like Halloween.
Like everyone already has the pumpkins out now, like clusters
of pumpkins outside their door.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
That's even before they go nuts with the decoration.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
That's right, and leading into Thanksgiving as well. It's like
pumpkin season. And last night saying we're pumpkin beer, Yeah.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
We did it kind of reminded me of the old
Monty Summer ale.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
But it was rimmed with a beautiful like pumpkin syrup
and cinnamon. But the beer was actually infused with the
flavor of pumpkin as well.
Speaker 6 (24:24):
It was kind of subtle flavor. It was delicious and
apparently it is very popular.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
While you guys were having that, I was going into
Starbucks because I felt like you had to, and I
got the most creamy caramely frappucino anyone could ever ask for.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
Well, it wasn't just any Starbucks. There was the Starbucks
in East Hampton, which is apparently where all the celebrities
hang out. And just a couple of minutes ago we
saw that Billy Joel is selling his Hampden's house for
fifty million dollars.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Outrageous And I understand why they're fifty million dollars too,
because I don't know what I thought about the Hamptons
from you know what I envisaged, but.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
I thought it would be more coastal vibes.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
It actually feels like if you've eate been north of
Auckland and when you head towards Mattakana and Omaha, it
feels like that kind of village vibe with lots and
lots of greenery.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
Lots also Arrowtown maybe a little bit too.
Speaker 5 (25:11):
It's got all of those wives and it's got all
the international players in terms of the shops.
Speaker 6 (25:15):
Doesn't it like a.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
Marni's village feel?
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Though?
Speaker 4 (25:19):
Yeah, feel densely populated, and.
Speaker 5 (25:21):
One of the styles that's kind of really run through
the population is the style of wherever you go, you
have to look like you're you're famous and in disguise.
Speaker 6 (25:28):
So everyone walks around with hats on and glasses.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
They wear the sunnis inside. Everyone does keep going. Are
they famous, No, they're just wearing faces.
Speaker 6 (25:36):
Pretending to be famous.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
Maybe they are in the Hamptons, We don't know. Every
car that drove passes one in there is a famous
someone in there.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
Anyway.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
So a couple of minutes ago, Billy Joel has just
lifted his house fifteen million dollars in the Hamptons.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
Nothing compared to some of the ones we saw though,
not that that house that was worth what eighty nine
million US dollars.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
And we went and looked at it because it was
just sitting like it was just listened on the main
street in the window.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
Eighty nine million dollars. Anyone won it? Yeah, surprised that
wouldn't happen in New Zealand.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
No one would listen to house for eighty nine million
and it will be private and undercover price on application
my appointment.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
Yeah, So we looked at this with Oko so who
could have fought a house like that?
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Right?
Speaker 3 (26:16):
So I looked at some of the highest paid actors
from last year. All right, So last year third highest
paid actor last year, Tom Cruise, he made forty five
million dollars last year going ford the.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
House, Tom, Well, he's probably done that over a few years,
all right.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
I was just based on last year's earnings. Margot Robbie
made fifty nine million dollars last year. Sure she could
buy Billy Joel's house, but she can't buy this one.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
No, And the eighty nine million dollar house, when we
looked at it, it was basically a whole coastline like
the house was planted on the code be honest, and.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
Maybe I'm a small but the house did look their flash.
I don't think, well, you know what compared to Auckland prices. Honestly,
I know.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Adam Sandler was last year's highest paid actor. He only
made only seventy three million dollars last year, So this
is more than any actor made last year for this
one house.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
I'll tell you what though, the eighty nine million dollar house.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Do you know what has excited us the single most
since we've been in New York, and that has been
the pumpkin patches.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
Everywhere we have driven, we've got oh my gosh, look
at the pumpkins.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Fields are so orange dust, so large, and we've decided
we need them in New Zealand.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
We don't know how.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
Why do we not grow gurrant pumpkins like pumpkins that
are so big you can't pick up?
Speaker 1 (27:23):
Why do we I tried to I squatted a pumpkin,
didn't I? Did you see me squat that pumpkin? You
filmed me spotted? It's a weird seiness to say.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
Please stop calling up pump speaking.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
We're a big with the pumpkin blaze.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
And later tonight you're going to see this amazing footage
at Coast Breakfast's actually following us Instagram and Facebook at
Coast Breakfast. But what a weekend for New Zealand sport.
This weekend Auckland f C play their first ever game
tomorrow night against Brisbane Raw. We've got the Silver Ferns
and action this weekend, we've got Team New Zealand and
action again tomorrow morning, we've got the White Ferns Tea
twenty on this weekend. There's a lot to take in,
So if you have subscribed to a bunch of stuff
(28:00):
on TV, then you're able to hopefully do the channel surfing.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Well, speaking of watching devices, we could have an issue there.
I'm just going to run through a few symptoms and
you tell me a bit like symptom bingo. Do you
suffer any of these things. Decreased ability to focus? Yeah, sorry, life,
it's been happening a while.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
Social seclusion. Do you get socially secluded? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Yeah, but that's this is my life for atual jobs.
Speaker 6 (28:29):
So I like to lock myself away going for.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
Lack of motivation, you know, forgetfulness, yeah, one hundred anger
for no apparent reasons, more and more anxiety slash depression. No,
I don't think so well. Developmental delays. Yeah, it's a
big resounding yes, isn't it.
Speaker 5 (28:55):
No, No, I have developed mental DEAs one hundred percent.
But I also excel at weird regions. You know, the spellance.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
You've got a very unique set of skittles. You're telling yourself,
what my unique set of skills? Racking my back? That's right.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
I've got a sore neck and he just cracked me
into place, which was quite nice. We welcome to thank
you anyway, all of those symptoms could be the fact
that you have digital dementia.
Speaker 4 (29:17):
So this is now an official condition.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
So it is characterized by the cognitive decline and memory
problems that can result from excessive use of digital devices.
And they are all the symptoms that come from this.
Speaker 6 (29:30):
This is so great, man, I tell you what. Our
brains are not meant to work like this.
Speaker 8 (29:34):
I'm not. No.
Speaker 5 (29:34):
We are meant to be so, meant to communicate by
looking people in the eye. We're not meant to be
bombarded with five second videos of useless things.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
Those videos, you're creating the problem.
Speaker 6 (29:45):
Yeah, I do.
Speaker 5 (29:46):
And I also so, I really like I am prepared
to take on the effects of digital dementia just because
memes are so good.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
I reckon that's why my neck is sore.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Maybe it's because I'm getting a hunch from watching devices
too much.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
Yeah, comes to minsha decline. What is that?
Speaker 6 (30:04):
The digital hunchback?
Speaker 1 (30:06):
It's terrible, doesn't it.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
We are in midtown Manhattan right now, and you could
do this incredible trip as well. Follow our footsteps with
travel USA to discover more of what awaits you in
any New York state right now. But I love ny
dot com and the details are on our website to
Coast online dot co dot z because when you do
this trip, you might give to go through the Hamptons.
And then the Hamptons is a shop called Cinderella, and
we had to go there because it's World Fruit and
(30:29):
Bench Day today.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
So we went to Ciderella.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Don't you love going to just grocery stores? Well, this
was a fruit and vegetable store. Actually, I'm probably liken
it to Farrow. Yeah, yeah, one of those fancy stores
in New Zealand.
Speaker 6 (30:39):
It was the grocery store for all the rich and famous.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
Well yeah, and we had to go in even if
we couldn't afford anything, We just had to go in
just to see it all beautifully laid out.
Speaker 6 (30:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (30:47):
And well, being a world fruit in me all day,
we thought would kind of drill down on what is
your favorite fruit? Because I have the answer to what
is the most delicious fruit in the entire.
Speaker 4 (30:58):
World, the true that I purchased from Citarellas.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
So we've got blueberries here, strawberries, giant strawberries by the way,
slice your palm of your hand, and beautiful raspberries.
Speaker 6 (31:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (31:09):
So a group of fruit experts have got together and
they have tasted the fruits of the world.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
How are you a fruit expert? Aid have you come that?
Speaker 6 (31:17):
I don't know. I guess the rollers or something like that.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
We've debated this at links in a podcast. Actually, because
you're obsessed with apples, which is weird.
Speaker 5 (31:24):
I think there's nothing better than a perfect apple, but
it has to be and an apple apple can go
sour very quickly and flowery, flowery.
Speaker 6 (31:32):
Yeah, it's horrible.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
You're biting into a crisp apples. It gives you a joy.
It does not as much joy as a juicy strawberry.
Speaker 6 (31:38):
But I think that I think the texture of a
strawberries are one off the thing. There's no purpose. I
don't think the strawberry is actually that delicious when you
break it down.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
The seeds are on the out side though.
Speaker 6 (31:47):
Yeah, weird jaysh, I have it fruit please.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
Probably the banana comes.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
In its own control, the banana, bananas, banana.
Speaker 5 (31:57):
The banana gets more use than anything bananas in any
but it's not the most If.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
You're on Death's store, you're not someone give me a banana.
Speaker 5 (32:04):
Oh that's a great there's a great way putting it. Like,
if you're on death row, what fruit are you choosing.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
I'm probably having a juicy raspberry or strawberry, not all pineapple.
But I'm not having a standard apple or a big
old nana.
Speaker 5 (32:16):
What you should choose, according to the fruit experts with
them for the most delicious fruit in the world is
the fie sellace.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
What's that?
Speaker 6 (32:23):
The fi sellas is the humble cape gooseberry. Now do
you know what?
Speaker 1 (32:27):
To show me a picture because I am not getting
a visuet that little it's.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
The little yellowy orangey fruit that comes in a little dusk,
almost like Cinderella's carriage.
Speaker 4 (32:37):
It looks a bit spiky and gross to me.
Speaker 5 (32:39):
No, you take that, you take that husk off, and
there is something that looks like an orange cherry tomato,
and if you eat you.
Speaker 6 (32:45):
See them as a kid strawberry.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
No, no, no, it's it's more of a texture of
a tomato, which is not selling it.
Speaker 6 (32:52):
But it's it's very sweet and a little bit tangy.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
I don't know who these experts are. I'm questioning their ability.
Speaker 5 (33:00):
No, No, honestly, this is a taste in my childhood,
which is when I when I when I googled what
a fi sellas was, I was like that is amazing.
Speaker 6 (33:07):
I wholeheartedly agree.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
Where did you live that you had access to the
Five Sellers?
Speaker 5 (33:11):
It was one of my dad's employees used to bring
them in from work.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
Wow, yeah, yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
Two six ninety nine. If you agree with Sam, you've
ever tried to fy sell us?
Speaker 4 (33:19):
And two? Do you think it's worth the.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
Hype while you're teasting as well? Agree with this one.
The worst fruit you can have is the Durian. Have
you guys tried tried the streaky ones well and rotting flesh?
It is horrific. You know something, It's like blue cheese.
Sometimes pungent can be very delicious.
Speaker 4 (33:36):
Sometimes you just need to feel something. Anyway you celebrated,
I feel something.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
I like It's happy world fruit and beach day over there.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
