The Love’s Playbook Podcast The Bible as the Story of an All-good God

Don’t have time to read the Bible? Can’t understand it? Here it is written as a story for adults that reads like a novel. The story of an all-good God. Listen and fall in love. My version has characters who are fleshed out with carefully researched backstory because they were people like us. I wanted to slow the stories down, make them come to life with characters you can relate to. People like you--people you can identify with and remember. AND the focus is on a good God, not a scary or angry one. The men who wrote the Bible wanted a strong warrior God, and to be sure They are! (One position--three beings who fill it.) But there is such a difference between Their preferred will and Their allowed will. Love and freedom are Their greatest values. Episode 1 is my fantasy of Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 with Revelation 12-–the universe before us. Listen to Abba, Adonai and Ruach converse and see how evil could enter a perfect world—a perfect creation!

It’s so interesting to me that not a lot is recorded about the good years and good judges. What makes it into history is when Israel needs God and a deliverer.

This discussion is of two really rich chapters—1John 4 & 5. What is sin exactly? What is God’s attitude toward us when we sin? In fact the whole discussion is about God’s attitude toward us anytime. And there is a surprise at the end.

Three more Judges. Two we know little about, but Jephthah has a reputation for making a rash vow. It’s a great study in family systems.

This is the end of 1John and Ephesians, a great look at the all-good God of 3—in one position as God. We speak a lot about the war we were created into and its effect on us.

Gideon started out so good. But honor—even from God—we have seen again and again take a man sideways.

If you’ve seen these Love’s Playbook posts and are wondering what it’s about, this discussion is probably one of the best to jump in on. Why is it so important to know God is good? Doesn’t everyone know that?

God uses Gideon to do the impossible and make it even more impossible so He can wow Israel with evidence that He exists and cares.

So many good things in Hebrews11-13! All the little stories reflecting the one big story—evidence for faith!

The story of Gideon is all about believing that if you want to stand up for God He wants to use you. This part one.

This is a discussion of Hebrews 7-10 that turned into a deep dive into God’s vengeance, which by the way Isaiah 35 describes as Jesus —at least in the NEB. God‘s love energy is a consuming fire to evil. But that is all, so if you are brave sit in his presence, unless you love evil.

One chapter describes one woman who judges Israel, fights a war and wins because of Adonai and a man who isn’t embarrassed to follow her. Plus another R rated story that I don’t think is fully told.

The book of Hebrews may have been written by a woman! Here is a basic look at true religion discussed by four women.

Here our discussion is centered in 2Peter who is passionate that his people understand that separation from God is naturally death, so be careful that God’s enemies don’t entice you away.

More stories of the time of the judges—this one on Othniel—Caleb’s son-in-law and Ehud. Two of God’s men used to deliver Israel from being prey of the dark side.

This is an x-rated Bible story. In fact if you are under 25 don’t read it—it is traumatizing. I’ve often wondered why it is in Scripture. So I tried to fill out the thoughts and feelings that had to be there—even so it’s hard to read. I even added a couple of conversations between Adonai and Ruach that must have happened. It shows the complexity of God trying to help Their wayward children solve the dilemmas their own thinking and ...

Sorry this one has the wrong picture—couldn’t change it. This started off to be a discussion on 1st Peter. However, it was Easter weekend and soon it went to a powerful question “Why did Jesus die?”

I’ve often wondered about the stories in Judges…why include them? Especially the last two! Now I get it. It’s in the last minute of this 12 minute podcast. And chronologically those last two stories come first so that’s where they are—if you are under 30 don’t read chapter 3—it’s that bad!

This chapter and live discussion was on Nero’s death as well as Paul and Peter’s death, but what a contrast in who they were and how they died!

Judges is one of the hardest books to read or write in the Bible. It took a lot of prayer and learning.
