A tale of four Harrys, an accidental super like, hot voice syndrome, and my greatest fear: women. In this episode, Em & Nala discuss all things dating from the perfect first date to the time we tagteamed an evil gaslighter. In true Girl Talk fashion, the conversation dips into existentialist territory with discussions of being a late bloomer, dating as a plus size person, and the dread of being unpalatable to the male gaze. 

Brat summer is over, Short n’ Sweet tour is giving us major fomo, & Chappell Roan is speaking about everything. Join Em & Nala as they discuss the current state of the pop girlie community. They also talk Heartstopper season 3 and apologize for the thousandth time for being the most inconsistent podcast on planet Earth.

Ah summer 2024…the summer of running around New York City while the smell of societal collapse lingers in the air. The girlies talk summer plans including Ticketmaster battles, frocking through capitalist hellscapes, and their wildly chaotic trip to see everyone’s favorite Irish princess: Niall Horan.

Class is in session with Em & Nala, your favorite girlboss guest lecturers. Today on the syllabus is the girl talk girlies four favorite subjects: movies, feminism, Harry styles, and the fact that some people do not have bootstraps. This feminist analysis of Don’t Worry Darling, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Hunger Games, and Bottoms will have you laughing, learning, and questioning the structure of society.

From screaming so loud they could barely breathe to seeing performers so hot they could barely breathe, Em & Nala recap their particularly slay drag show adventure. They also think deeply about the flop attractions of the internet’s past. More specifically, Emily brings up Willy Wonka Glasgow, which reminds her of Dashcon, which reminds her of Tanacon, which reminds her of Fyre Fest.

The weather outside is frightful, but the girlies summer camp memories are even more frightful. In an attempt to get out of a seasonally-depressed funk, Em & Nala accidentally have a really deep discussion about weight loss camp, feeling like you don’t fit in, child labor, talent shows, yogurt cake, and more! (amongst a short Taylor Swift check-in because duh)

Take a trip back in time with the girlies to the year of galaxy leggings, shaking it off, volunteering for tribute, & asking if okay will be our always. While they were in middle school at the time, Em & Nala remember 2014 extremely fondly. Plus they discuss their theatre kid tendencies and the song that makes them want to rip their ears off and burn them!

Get in losers, the theatre kids are complaining again! From Renee Rapp’s incredible, show-stopping, never the same performance to the songs that make our ears bleed, the girlies talk all things Mean Girls 2024 in this episode. But first, they discuss two other iconic, yet oddly disturbing pieces of media set in the early 2000’s: Saltburn and Tommy Wiseau’s The Room.

As we enter the year of Wicked Part 1, the girlies discuss what they believe the next year will hold. From fashion trends to Ethan Slater looking eerily similar to Frankie Grande, this chaotic chat is full of giggles and ponderings. Nala rants about the multiverse, Emily hates on Wonka, and the two decide whether or not ‘slay’ will be 2024’s biggest casualty.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) changed lives. From vault track dissections to songs we think are better than the originals, the girlies have much to discuss. We also share our Eras Tour movie experience, admit our stupid financial decisions (that may or may not be cardigan shaped), and pledge our allegiance to Jack Antonoff (and really all celebrities that hail from the debatably great state of New Jersey).

From being a 20-year-old teenager to entering your depression Barbie era to the emergence of #adulting, the consensus is that existing as a young woman is hard. The Girl Talk girlies discuss this phenomenon and how outside factors, such as the pandemic, have affected their ability to “grow up.” And of course, a small Taylor Swift discussion takes place as well…it is our 13th episode after all.

Whether they’re bopping to the top or fantasizing about being rich enough to buy a home in Disney’s Golden Oak, this week’s episode proves Em & Nala are never beating the Disney adult allegations. Other discussions include our 1989 vault track predictions and Nala’s incredible One Direction concert storytime that Emily will remain jealous of for the rest of time.
