Welcome to Technically Inappropriate, a podcast where Rob, Russ, and Tony discuss topics about technology and how it shapes the lives of people who build and use it. Well...sometimes. The three are predisposed to distraction and humor of questionable merit. Combined, these unique personalities have over 80 years of experience in the field of technology and 0 in the field of entertainment. Somehow, they believe this makes them the most inappropriately qualified people to have a podcast.
Yes, the boys are going to try to discuss how they know demos, and after Meta's terrible demo, they want to share a little bit about their own experiences, which probably originated in the 80s.
Rob hasn't done his job. The boys call him out on his birthday while he has some drinks. Ripped while ripped. So you get to enjoy this show raw. Enjoy.
This week, the boys talk about how layoffs seem to be the thing in tech and why. What should we expect going forward?
In this dastardly installment, the boys try to both explain what the cloud is and come to a conclusion: are people walking away from the cloud? Is their promise of being cheaper dead? When you're done with this episode, you still won't know. Cheers!
The boys get a little off the rails when in person... Didn't help that someone spilled Russ's drink. Somewhere along the way, they talk about defects! Enjoy!
After like...
Woah, dude, it's been a year! The boys are back and talking about lousy software. Fly down into the weeds and get too close to monkey enclosures.
Whatever, enjoy!
Okay.... So... Even I don't know what we are doing anymore. People keep tuning in, and we keep talking. About what? Who knows! This week we are talking about poop tech. Who makes the best toilets? Or, better yet, let's talk about no toilets at all. I'd say enjoy, but that's entirely to taste.
Cheers!
As more companies move towards more subscription programs what will happen to broadcast TV, satellite, and cable companies? The boys dive into the details.
Once the boys talk about their experiences in searching for and hiring technical talent. Once they get beyond talking about D&D, football, and quirky cameras.
** Little warning Rob's mic was peeking bad, we worked as hard as we could to make sure it wasn't too annoying.**
Construction materials are only some form of rock, wood, or clay. Why in the world are houses still made with drywall, and is there anything we can do to make something easier to use?!
It seems that the only group innovating their way out of the Stone Age is plumbing, or is it?
Once the boys are done being distracted with beer, they go on to talk about remote internet options. That is when Tony's own internet decides to play along properly. With satellite internet coming on how realistic is it to live in the middle of nowhere? Is fiber ever going to be realized to more than a small fraction of the US? Lets talk about it.
The three talk about AI this week but are hard-pressed to believe it's really here. Are they too old? Do they have a point? Take a listen and see if we should worry or embrace our new technological overlords.
This week the boys talk about how the technology of the past is coming back. Vinyl records, film cameras, and flip phones, to name a few. While the tech is coming back, the reasons may not be wholly agreed upon. Cheers!
Welcome to Technically Inappropriate. Today's topic is how technology has failed us and why. Tony's setup leaves him on a delay that tries to derail the episode for the trio... Of course. Please struggle to enjoy this episode that goes far deeper into software creation than anyone ever expected.
