Our hosts, Dave and Mark, are two music obsessives who first met in 2008 at the community radio station RTRFM 92.1 in Perth, Western Australia. Bonding over a love of post punk and other alternative music genres, they soon began making music together and are still heavily involved in the city's fertile local music scene. They also like nothing more than a yarn about music, and their favourite (or not so favourite) bands. These conversations are often amusing, sometimes serious and occasionally, potentially libellous. Thus, the idea for this podcast was born. Each episode the lads choose a theme and each select five songs to explore the topic. The show is free flowing and so the facts are sometimes hazy and the chat can go in any direction. This is not your typical music show.

It's hard to avoid footwear when it comes to songs. Red shoes are a particularly popular topic for example, as are celebrations of sneaker brands.

On todays episode we turn our attention to the theme of violence in music. Touching on such tales as the singer who couldn't stop stabbing people. To the artist known as "Killer", who once shot his bass player, and another time his own home with a machine gun to wake up his friends to carry on the party.
We are more peaceful characters at the pod, this is more our vibe,

In Season 1, we explored the music of our home town, Perth. We had so much fun, we decided to cast the net a bit further and for no reason whatsoever, settled on what's happening in Philadelphia. What we discovered is one of the most vibrant scenes in the US, and some new favourite bands for both of us. Don't forget to check out the playlist for this episode, its an absolute ripper.

As with every episode, we have 5 tracks to discuss and the accompanying playlist is right here.

You all know the song, you hear it everywhere and you are pretty much sick of hearing it. Many of the artists chosen have that song and have been unfairly put into the box of being a one hit wonder. Our hosts chose 5 artists whose back catalogue challenges this notion.
