השואה נוכחת מאד בישראל - החל במערכת החינוך וכלה בשיח הציבורי והפוליטי. עם זאת, אנחנו לומדים ושומעים מעט מאוד על מקרי רצח-עם אחרים שאירעו לאורך ההיסטוריה. לקראת יום הזיכרון לשואה ולגבורה, תשוחח ליעד מודריק עם ד"ר אייזיק לובלסקי, לסדרה בת ארבעה פרקים בנושא - "ג'נוסייד - על הפוליטיקה והזיכרון של פשעים נגד האנושות". יחד עמם ננסה להבין כיצד מאופיין רצח-עם, מהם השורשים ההיסטוריים, האידאולוגיים והפוליטיים שעומדים מאחוריו, והאם יש מכנה משותף לכל מקרי הג׳נוסייד או שכל מקרה הוא נבדל וייחודי. לצד ההיבטים התיאורטיים והמשפטיים, ננתח כמה מקרי בוחן של רצח-עם שהתרחשו במאה ה-20, ונבחן סיווגים נוספים שמציע המחקר בתחום – טיהורים פוליטיים והשמדת תרבות. 133884
