לאורך הדורות היה אוכל מרכיב מרכזי וקריטי בחוויה האנושית, אולם נדמה שבשנים האחרונות, לפחות במחוזות המערב השבע, בני אדם כבר פחות "אוכלים כדי לחיות" ויותר "חיים כדי לאכול". למזון שלנו תמיד היתה חשיבות פוליטית וכלכלית, אולם בימינו, לצד היותו מצרך הישרדותי בסיסי, האוכל שלנו הפך לחוויה תרבותית מרובת רבדים, אשר זוכה לתשומת לב ומייצרת שיח באופן חסר תקדים: המסך עמוס מתמיד בתכניות בישול, שפים זוכים למעמד של כוכבים, הבלוגוספירה הקולינרית פורחת והרשתות החברתיות מתפקעות מצילומי מנות מפונפנות. אז מה בעצם כל כך מעניין באוכל שלנו? על כך נבקש לענות, ביחד עם מיטב המרצים, בקורס הנוכחי של "מסע סביב רעיון", במסגרתו נטעם מהמחקר על אוכל בהקשרים של היסטוריה, דת, אקולוגיה, מגדר, משפט, ספרות, אמנות ועוד. 96044
