Speaker 1 (00:01):
You are now and what I call her? Ye?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
All right, what's good? Everybody is way up at Angela Yee.
I'm excited because I am actually heading out of here
and going to Miami for the South Beach Wine and
Food Festival. So if anybody is looking for something to
do this weekend and having some fun and nicer weather,
come on out because it's a great time. If you
(00:33):
like food, music, activities, it's going to be so much fun.
So that's something I'm looking forward to today.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Doctor Rachel M. Bond is going to be joining us.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
She is a cardiologist, a board certified attending cardiologist. She's
actually devoted her career to the treatment of heart disease
through early detection, education and prevention.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
H And you know that is the number one UH.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Disease that kills that kills Black women and people in general,
his heart disease. All right, well, let's get this show
started with some love and with some positivity. Eight hundred
two nine two fifty one fifty is and I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Call us up.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Let's spread that love because the world needs some love
right now.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
It's way up at Angela, yee. Shine a light is.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Next machine a machine, turn your lights on y'all. Light
saw it spreading love to those who are doing greatness.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Shanna light on them, shine a light on them. It's
time to shine a light on them.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
It's way up at Angela Yen. It's time to shine
a light. And today I want to shine a light
on an actor you know as Kofi Serabau.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
He actually launched Tola.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
It's a creative retreat and residency space for black artists.
He launched this during Super Bowl in New Orleans and
he has a nice connection there. He's been there for
seven years and he's really planted some roots there. So
he transformed Tola into a gallery with different artwork from
a diverse mix of rising stars. He's actually going to
be bringing this art show to other places as well.
(02:01):
He's bringing it on the road. It's going to be
at the Line Hotel. That's happening starting today until the
twenty third. That's going to be in La But I
just think something like this is amazing. It's a space
that he wants to have for artists to be able
to come through do what they need to do. DJs, creatives,
and he said, as creators, we're inclined to wander and
sometimes getting lost is the only way to find new paths.
(02:23):
Transformation is a silent fire that must be ignited, and
we as artists are the flames that will set it ablaze.
Tola is my offering to New Orleans and a nod
to my Los Angeles roots. I wanted to highlight the
rich culture of New Orleans while celebrating the enduring power
of black artistry across mediums. So shout out to Kolfi
for doing amazing work, given back to the community, giving
back to creatives, having this space that I've seen video
(02:45):
where he's very hands on and even doing the construction
in that space.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
All right, now, Keenan, who do you want to shine
a light on?
Speaker 5 (02:55):
I want to turn a leg on my wife, Tamara.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Tamara all right and tell us why she's amazing.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
I just want to let her know how much I
love for an appreciator. While am I working, she's holding
it down at home with our kids. We got four
of them and on home school. Who wants to new
Born to show it down for real? And all my
working and she's just an amazing but the fether six
years in May being married, So I just want to
let her know much I love her and appreciator.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Well, I want to say that's more than a full
time job. That is an all day job.
Speaker 5 (03:26):
Definitely an all day job. I reappreciate her Thursday, say
that love, but do.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
It all right?
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Well, shout out to you, Tamara, and thank you so
much for calling a shine a lot.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
On your wife.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
All right, thank you?
Speaker 3 (03:36):
All right?
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Well that was Shina Light eight hundred and two ninety
two fifty one fifty. You want to spread some love,
you can do that for last word in case you
couldn't get through right now and when we come back,
we have your yeet. What does ASAP really have to
say after the verdict is in and Asap Rocket was
found not guilty.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
We'll tell you it's way up. She's like to talk like.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
They Angeli Jean, like they Angeli Jean. She's spilling it off.
This is yeaty way up.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
It's way up with Angela yee. And let's get into it.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
First of all, again, our condolences to IRV Gotti's family,
Rest in peace. His funeral actually was yesterday and you
know a lot of people were present. Jah Rule of course,
has continued to be close to IRV Gotti. You know
throughout everything, and he got very choked up as he
had to speak. I can't even imagine having to get
up and deliver a eulogy for somebody that you're that
(04:31):
close to.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
But here's what he said.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
I love every one of this lunch touched on the
body in your happy ways.
Speaker 7 (04:39):
So we all have celebration of your life because we're
living five.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Love you, my brother.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
See what I do ooo, I was bring a tear
to your eye anyway, So again, our condolences all right. Now,
one person who's happy right now is ASAP Rocky, and
another person is real and also their kids. He was
facing up to twenty four years in prison, but he
was found not guilty.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Now.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
According to acep Rocky's lawyer, Joe Takapino, he says that
this is a gift that he's going to be getting.
He was asked what's going to happen for acep Rocky next.
Here's what he said, Well, they promised.
Speaker 8 (05:19):
That birthday would be made ACEP joke, So I loved
all right.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
Another person who spoke out is acep Rally.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
He went on his social media page and said gossiping
is a form of entertainment for people who have no
meaningful goals or purpose in life, hate me, bring shame
to my name, say bad things about me.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
I don't care.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Your existence doesn't add any value in my life. I
know that was disappointing for him, but you know, it
is what it is. Now, everybody got to move on.
One person who's also saying that he's owed some money
from this whole ordeal is fifty cent.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Now.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
He had previously posted, I got ACEP beating this case.
I bet five hundred thousand on it. That boy a
Telly was just trying to get some money. Fool said,
I was scared from my lifestile. I went back to
the scene and picked up these shells. Officer told him, hey,
if you want to get some money, go to the hospital.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Who wants the bet?
Speaker 2 (06:11):
And Megan Kuonif, who is the reporter who's always reporting
and letting people know what's going on at the scene,
said I'll take that bet. And clearly she lost that bet.
So now fifty cent is saying I'm gonna need my
money by Monday. And then he said, oh, my lawyers
will find her by money. And I saw Tory Lanes
also chimed in and called her a goof because she
did cover Tory Lane's trial against Meg Thee Stallion as well,
(06:33):
so you know he doesn't like her five hundred thousand.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
What do you think about that? Dan?
Speaker 2 (06:38):
You think this will stand up in court? Will she
really have to pay him five hundred thousand?
Speaker 8 (06:42):
So it was just a comment on social media.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
She did say I'll take that bet. Now here's how
she can get past this. It doesn't say five hundred
thousand what it just says five hundred thousand. She could say, paesels,
you know what I mean? So you know you got
to present hold up in court. I mean it's written
and it's on social media.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
It's a bet. I don't know. I couldn't tell. I'm
not a lawyer.
Speaker 8 (07:05):
But in order for a bet to go through doesn't
have to be like handled through like some sense of
illegal bookie or whatever.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
If somebody said, if you do this, I'll give you
this and then listen and you know fifty cent, don't
play when it comes to getting his money. You know,
we'll talk more about that later. But when we come back,
we have about last night. That's where we discussed what
we did last night. I feel like I was outside
all night last night. Yet again you hear my voice.
Here's some Miguel and j Cole. All I want is you.
(07:32):
It's way up night.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
So about last night? Yes, he said, went down?
Speaker 2 (07:41):
All right, it's way up with Angela gee, and it's
time for about last night.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Now.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
I want to say, these past few days, I've been
outside a whole lot. My goal sometimes is to be
at home just watching television.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
That's what I really want to do. Navy, you're not
in your head?
Speaker 8 (07:57):
Yes, oh yeah, you're always outside and I'm proud of you.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
You are proud of me for that. Listen, you know
what I really want to do.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
I've been trying to watch the new season of Love
Is Blind, and it's not capturing my interest.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
I don't know if y'all feel this way too. Do
you watch Love is Blind?
Speaker 2 (08:12):
It came out, yes, it started, and this last season,
I ain't gonna lie, this is gonna feel bad. And
I see people talking about how it does lack diversity.
But this season is like, not a lot of black
people on there and so and it's always spicier when
we're there, you know, I think it's like Minneapolis or
something like that. Yeah, it's in Minneapolis. There's thirty two
(08:36):
contestants on the season. Yeah, and the majority of those
contestants are white, and I think the first seven seasons
they said it was about a fifty to fifty split
between white and non white contestants. But this is when
you really realize it's certain things you just relate to
more right and also just more interesting. And so the
(08:58):
creator and executive producer Chris Colon responded to the criticism. Criticism.
He said to Entertainment Weekly, Well, the show casts itself.
We put people in the pods, and you try to
have a very diverse group of people in lots of
different ways at the start, and then the people who
get engaged are the people who get engaged. The people
who fall in love are the people who.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Fall in love. So that's kind of the storyline that
they're following.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
I did see one thing that captured in my interest
so far, because I keep falling asleep every time I.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Try to watch it.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
So, you know, the whole point of love is blind
is that you don't know what the person looks like.
You're talking in these pods, it's just about conversation connection.
One woman is med that the guy I guess he
went to her Instagram page and looked her up, and
so I guess he followed it and then then followed
her quickly. And then I was thinking, probably everyone does that.
(09:46):
He was just dumb enough to follow and unfollow her
like people probably do that. He probably follow her by accident,
and there's like ooh, I got hurry up and unfollow
and she called him out on it.
Speaker 8 (09:56):
It's probably a private account though, so you gotta follow.
Speaker 9 (10:02):
Did you?
Speaker 2 (10:02):
So he was trying to see because I also think, yeah,
people are going to try to like search your name
and they try to get little clues. Like one woman
that's on there, she she's what is she?
Speaker 3 (10:13):
She a doctor?
Speaker 2 (10:15):
But anyway, she also used to be a dancer for
in the NBA, so you know, automatic exactly what'd you
say that? People are like, yeah, I'm picking her. Well anyway,
that's what I was doing last night. I gotta really
try to hone in on it because I keep on
falling asleep.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
It's got to be more interesting. I don't know if
it's just me, y'all, let me know.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Uh, But when we come back, my producer Dan and
I were having this conversation because doctor Rachel and Bond
is joining us today. She's a cardiologist, and we were
talking about our own issues with heart health. Heart disease
is the number one killer globally, and it's a conversation
that we always need to be having because a lot
of things are preventable. But we're going to talk about
what our separate issues were.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
Its way upos to.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Famous women in radiodio. We're talking about Angela Yee. You're
way up with Angela Ye. Please believe that.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
What's up his way up with Angela Yee?
Speaker 2 (11:08):
And today we are going to be talking to doctor
Rachel and Bond.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
That's coming up later.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
But this is important because heart disease is something that
we all need to make sure that we pay attention to.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
The number one killer.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Some people think for black women it's breast cancer, but
it's actually heart disease. Now, I was saying, and there's
a lot of things that can lead to that, including
high cholesterol. I've always talked about how I had high
cholesterol when I was really young. I was in my
early twenties and I found that out just from going
to the doctor getting checked out. Dan, my producer, I
(11:40):
know you've had some issues.
Speaker 8 (11:42):
Yes, also at a young age. When I was twenty seven,
I realized I had high blood pressure problems and it
was stress related. It wasn't you know. The number one
cause for people is like genetics is if it runs
in your family DNA. But for me, this was working
stress based related. So you know, I was working long hours,
I was not sleeping much, and when I went to
the doctor, they were like, your numbers are terrible. I
(12:03):
had to do an entire lifestyle change, my diet, my
sleep habits.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
Working out, working out, you know, making sure because even
for me, I do some small things to this day,
like I walk a lot, because if you can say,
oh I don't have time and I don't have time
to do this, there's certain things you can do, like
instead of taking the escalator, take the stairs, I park
literally like fifteen blocks away, so that every day when
I leave here, I walk fifteen blocks to the car,
(12:27):
and I walk fifteen blocks from my car to get
to the studio, no matter how freezing it is, if
it's raining or whatever. Because I know that sometimes we
can slack and takeing care of ourselves.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
So I can do things like that.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
But heart disease is the leading cause of death globally,
not just here in the United States, but globally, there's
so many different types of heart disease, and there's so
many things that we can do to prevent that, you know.
And so when doctor Rachel and Bond was actually when
they told me she was coming on the show, I
was really excited just because that's something that I have
been championing for us, to make sure that we take
(12:59):
better care of ourselves, that we also know what symptoms
to look out for.
Speaker 8 (13:04):
Right, What were some things that you did to help
with your cholesterol.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
I just made sure that I ate better, like stop
eating fried food, because you know, I love some French fries,
fried chicken, and so now I'm very aware of those things.
And I'm not saying I don't eat that at all,
but I just cut back on it. So I'm like,
I'll do grilled instead of fried, you know, black and chicken,
just whatever it is that you have to do to
change it. And then also making sure that you go
outside and get out more and walk and exercise.
Speaker 8 (13:29):
So how long did it take for your numbers to
get down? Like how long the next visit?
Speaker 2 (13:33):
It happened pretty quickly because I took it very seriously
right away, and it is important to monitor that, you know.
So that's something that I'm always like paying attention to.
But they told me, they were like, you'll be on medicine.
It won't happen right away, but later in life you
have to take pills every day and you don't want
to have to do that.
Speaker 8 (13:48):
Has the issue come back?
Speaker 3 (13:50):
No, good, No, it has not.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Like she said, a lot of and she'll tell you guys,
a lot of things are preventative. And that's also why
I work with Coach Jesse a lot, because she does
do a lot of things for people, and she does
you know, we have these multivitamins, we have this detox
now new kit that we're doing. But because it is
such a widespread issue, when it does affect our community
at even worse race than any other community, I just
(14:14):
want to make sure that I'm always talking about that,
you know, just helping lifestyle changes. All right, Well, when
we come back we have your ye t, let's talk
about Will Smith. I Am Legend too. I Am Legend
was a great movie. So part two will tell you
what he's going to have going down for that. It's
way out.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
Oh, she's about to blow the lead about this, but
let's get it. Oh yeah, angel is feeling that yet, come.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
And get the tea.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (14:37):
His way up with angela yee and it's time for
your yee t. Let's get it started. Will Smith, he's
doing a bunch of sequels now. He's already working on
I Am Legend two. Here's what he had to say
about Michael B.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Jordan.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
People were saying, I Am Legend two.
Speaker 6 (14:50):
Is that a thing?
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Yeah, no, that's a real thing. Well really yeah, me
and Michael B.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Jordan we sat down for about a week, just went
through character stuff.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
I'd love to work with that dude.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Another part too he's planning is Handcock two, and while
it feels like he's in the early stages, here's what
he had to say about that.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
There's a really cool Handcock two idea. I'm gonna give
you one little piece.
Speaker 9 (15:14):
Zendaiya will be being approached for Hancock two.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Now.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
We talked about this a couple of weeks ago, but
Hitch two is also being developed by Will Smith. The
original director from the first Hitch is not involved. That's
how we actually found out about Hitch two. Andy Tennant
directed the original movie and said that he had a
good idea for a sequel and then found out that
Will was developing that without him. What do you, guys,
ever be right to do? Which of these dan are
(15:39):
you most excited for? I am legend to Hitch two
or Handcock two?
Speaker 8 (15:43):
Absolutely? I am legend too.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Okay, me too?
Speaker 8 (15:45):
Fun fact, I am legends. Actually. The first movie that
made me cry the dog scene.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
Alrighty okay, you didn't think that was sad?
Speaker 1 (15:54):
I mean, come.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
On, okay, usually like if a person dies.
Speaker 8 (15:59):
I mean it was just the dogs, all right.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Ja.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Cole is just like us because guess what, you have
an idea and you want to do it and be consistent,
and then sometimes it just doesn't happen that way. Now
he has his recently launched blog that he's been running,
and it looks like he's just upset about not being consistent.
He said, I'm off to a bad start with the consistency,
but I'm gonna do better. Watch I've been locked in
(16:25):
on the music while also balancing family life. It's a
juggling act that a blog post wouldn't do justice and explaining.
But with that said, I'm back tending to this garden.
I think I'm gonna lest some other people post on
here too to get the vibes up. I feel him
because we have every intention all the time. I'm like,
I'm gonna start doing this more. I'm gonna post this more.
I'm gonna do this. You buy the stuff to do
(16:45):
it and.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Then bang, nothing happens.
Speaker 8 (16:47):
You got to commit.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Yeah, you got to commit and get into consistency. And
I tell people all the time as advice if they're like, oh,
I want to start a podcast, I want to do this,
consistency and sometimes you got to follow your own advice.
Speaker 8 (16:58):
Right, that's a fact.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
All right.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
LeVar Ball had his foot amputated. He had a medical issue.
I can't even imagine what that must be like. He
had to have his right foot removed. But he looks
extremely happy in the picture of him and now I
don't know if it was laughing gas wearing off, but
he's smiling hard in that wheelchair. But yeah, I can't
imagine losing getting my foot amputated.
Speaker 8 (17:19):
Especially when basketball is like your life.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Yeah, but you know what, rather be alive.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
All right, Well that is your yet and when we
come back, we have under the radar. These are the
stories that are not necessarily, and the headlines they're flying
under the radar. I know I'm not the only person
who's scared to fly nowadays because we keep on seeing
all these different reports. But we'll give you an update
on that delta flight that turned upside down.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
This way up, I got news this in the news
that relates to you. These stories are flying under the radar.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
What's up his way up with angela Ye, and it's
time for your under the radar stories.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
Now.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
A woman in Georgia, and I know y'all feel like
we talk about race all the time, but she's a
white woman and this is important when it comes to
this story.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
She's suing a fertility clinic.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
There was an IVF mix up, she gave birth to
another couple's black baby, and then not only did she
give birth to this baby, but had to give the
baby up at five months old. According to this lawsuit,
here's what she had to say. Her name is Christina Murray.
Speaker 10 (18:15):
My first thought was he's absolutely beautiful, and my second
thought was what happened. I was hoping it was a
mix up in the sperm donor and that he would
be genetically somewhat mine. But my next thought was if
he is not mine and he's someone else's.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
Inmbroo, can he be taken immediately?
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Fear immediately?
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Fear Yes, they implanted the wrong egg into her uterus,
According to the lawsuit that she filed on Tuesday, a
DNA test found out that the infant wasn't genetically related
to her, but she also felt connected to the boy
and decided she wanted to raise him as her own.
Imagine going through that whole process of giving birth. They
messed up, and then you'd take the baby from me
at five months old. So she gave up the baby,
(18:57):
knowing she would likely lose a legal battle.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
That's awful that it's so said.
Speaker 8 (19:02):
Women always say they grow their strongest bond with their
child during that pregnancy time. For her to have to
hand over the baby right.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
Away as well, you know, she spent her entire life
wanting to be a mom, and finally happened. They messed
up and then took the baby. All right, now, y'all know,
I gotta go catch a flight today. I'm going to
the South Beach Wine and Food Festival. But I've been
seeing so many things on the news with planes. I
mean literally, one of my friends is supposed to come visit.
She's too scared to fly right now. Delta is giving
(19:28):
thirty thousand dollars to every passenger who was on the
flight that crash landed on Monday and off eighty people
on board. Fortunately they did survive the incident, but that
flight flipped upside down when it landed in Toronto, and
they said the money that they're giving these passengers is
no strings attached. It does not affect whatever rights they have.
(19:48):
So they're saying this is an act of goodwill according
to legal experts, but the airline could still be on
the hook for further damages if passengers choose to sue
for more compensation. You know, some of them will absolutely
as they eighty people, somebody is definitely gonna do that.
All right, Well, that is you're under the radar.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
You know.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
We got the way Up mixed at the top of
the hour plus a really important conversation with doctor Rachel Ambon.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
She'll be joining us today.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
She's a cardiologist and she's also the Madam President elect
of the American Heart Association Greater Phoenix board of Directors.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
It's way up.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
She's like to talk like they Angeli Jean like they
angel jee.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Man, she's spilling it all. This is yet way up.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (20:30):
This way up at angela yea, And it's time for
your yea t And let's go back to talking about
the Menandez brothers. They were recently on TMZ's podcast Two
Angry Men. They were on with Harvey and Mark Garrigos,
who represents Eric and La Menandez. They talked about a
lot of different things. They've been incarcerated for thirty five years.
By the way, their resentencing hearing is gonna be next month,
(20:52):
so that's when they're gonna find out what happens, if
they're gonna be prisoners or if they're gonna be free.
And here's what they had to say about the brutal
time that they've had behind Buyers.
Speaker 7 (21:03):
It was a dangerous environment. I was picked on, bullied violently,
and it was traumatic. I wasn't going to fight back,
I'm not going to engage, and I had no one
to really turn to for help. And I was separated
from Lyle, and I remember the day that I was
told Lyle just got assaulted and got his job broke in.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
All right, this is going to be crazy when we
see what happens next month, right, Dan, What do you
think if you had to predict?
Speaker 8 (21:29):
I feel like people were so influenced by the Netflix series.
I don't know if it portrayed like a crystal clear
scope of what actually happened. But on the flip side,
the abuse that these kids endured from their father was
just like absolutely horrific. They do have a lot of
time served, though, so that might help their case for
getting out. What do you think?
Speaker 2 (21:45):
I felt like they're going to get out all right now?
Joey Badass versus Ray Vaughn. Joey Battis has responded. This
how started when Joey Batis put out this single The
Rule Is Back. He basically had things to say about
too much West Coast d.
Speaker 11 (22:01):
Well.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Rayvaughon then responded and he did a freestyle over Kenjick's
to Heart Part six.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
It's called Crash Out Heritage. Here's what he said.
Speaker 9 (22:08):
It's with the sneak dists and taking shots to us.
Day Hi, they're uzy because the only bad ass the
world was recognizing his boozy. Please don't get confused with
shooting the movies. We're really shooting what's on soul albums.
So if you ask me, you look like a goofy.
I hope this message reaches you.
Speaker 6 (22:22):
Well.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Well, now Joey has responded to that response with pardon me,
sounds good here it is.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Ready for the smoke effect of five of myself.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
All right, I like this, like the back and forth.
You know where we know there's a little bit of beef,
but it's on record. I bet if they saw each other,
they wouldn't have an issue. Although we did see Joey
beat somebody up in the story. The happy shout out
to Brooklyn and congratulations to Joey also has a baby
on the way his first abrahemi soraya so so cute.
(22:51):
All right, well that is your yee tea. And when
we come back, we have asked yee. Eight hundred and
two nine two fifty one fifty is a number. Call
us up any question you have. I'm here to help
you out its way out.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Okay, everybody, since whether it's relationship for career advice, Angela's
dropping facts, you.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Should you should know.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
This is ask what's up his way up with Angela? Yee,
I'm Angela ye, and it's time for you guys to
call up with your questions.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
Ask you.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
I'm here to help you out. Hey, Braylan, what's your
question for asking you today?
Speaker 3 (23:19):
How you doing?
Speaker 10 (23:21):
So?
Speaker 5 (23:21):
I'm doing good. My question is I have two friends
and I don't know how to solve an issue where.
Speaker 12 (23:27):
They both hate each other's guts.
Speaker 5 (23:29):
Look then on put in the middle, and now they're
starting to turn on me because I can't pick them.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Okay, So what's their problem?
Speaker 8 (23:34):
Like?
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Why are they Is it something super serious?
Speaker 5 (23:37):
They've always never liked each other. That's like an earlier
age they went for like the same girl, and like
I think I think one of them stole something from
the other one.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
Oh my gosh, yeah, but that was I think he stole.
So they haven't liked each other for a long time.
Speaker 5 (23:55):
Yeah, it goes back.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Well, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
That you can force people who have not liked each
other since school to become friends with each other.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
But how are you now being affected?
Speaker 5 (24:04):
I'll be hanging out with one of them and then
they'll bring up the other one and they'll just start
talking like crazy about the other one. I'll be like, yeah,
I can't really voice anything.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Well, you know the rules are I would tell both
of them, like y'all don't like each other.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
That has nothing to do with me.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
And I'm not gonna be the person that's gonna sit
here and talk behind anybody's back. So I, respectfully, you
don't bring up the other person, and you tell the
other person that too, you don't bring him up.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
I don't even want to have.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Those discussions with you, because I can't see you making
them be friends. They clearly haven't liked each other for
an eternity. Everybody ain't got to get along.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
Of course, they just got to tolerate each other.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Yeah, exactly, or at least not be around each other.
Speaker 5 (24:43):
That's a good one.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
And if they are in the same space, let's just
you know, you go that way, you go that way,
of course.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
All right, Well, thank you for Colin. Good luck with that.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
That's not easy.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
I definitely have friends that don't like each other and
they will not be around each other, and when they are,
it's very tense. But you know, I can't force you
to be friends with somebody you don't like.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
They're like standing there alcohol awkward I around each other,
and then they'll like look at each other and then
they'll make it weird for me.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
Listen, you just got to go about your business. That's
on them.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
Yeah, you're right, you're right.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Nobody ruined in my good time. All right, Well, thank you, Braylan, No,
thank you. That was ask ye eight hundred and two
ninety two, fifty one to fifty. You guys can leave
a message or you can tap that microphone on the
iHeartRadio app and leave a message.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
That way.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
We can also answer your question if you got a
little co feed and you don't want to call in.
When we come back, we have doctor Rachel M. Bond
joining us. She is a cardiologist. She's also Madam President
elect of the American Heart Association Greater Phoenix Board of Directors,
and she's a unicorn. Only a little more than two
percent of US physicians are black women. She's really doing
(25:53):
the work representation matters, and we'll be talking to her
about your heart health.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
It's way up.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
It's way up with Angelae.
Speaker 8 (25:59):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
You are a media maven, right, you never know what
and is gonna say what's up?
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Its way up with Angela.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yee, And I'm excited to have doctor Rachel Bond here
with me today. Doctor Rachel Bond is a board certified
attending cardiologist and a woman's heart health and prevention specialist.
And also you recently have been on it to serve
as Madame President elect of the American Heart Association Greater
Phoenix Board of Directors.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
So congratulations on all of that, Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 11 (26:28):
I'm looking forward to it.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
And this is especially important because heart disease is a
leading cause of death for Black women, and I read
that one in three Black maternal deaths is due to
cardiovascular disease as well, and it's a good indication that
something is wrong. Also, if you have pre eclampsia and
things like that, when you go into labor.
Speaker 11 (26:47):
Exactly exactly, So now we're learning that pregnancy is really
a window to future health if you have any of
those complications. So what is preclamsia For those that don't know,
It's when your blood pressure could become dangers elevated and
it could affect other organs. It becomes really dangerous for
both the mother and the baby, and sometimes the only
option is delivery. We know that not only does that
(27:10):
impact your actual short term risk in terms of cardiac events,
but actually up to twenty years after you deliver, you
can still be at risk of heart disease. So making
sure you get your numbers checked, like your cholesterol, your
blood pressure, you're talking to your physician, that your trust,
you make sure you're exercising and eating healthy. Those are
ways to prevent that and decrease that overall risk. But
(27:32):
it's also important to know that what happens during your
pregnancy could actually indicate your future life.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Right now, I'm talking to cardiologists after Rachel Mbond. First,
I want to ask you what are some signs that
people should look for if there's something wrong, Like if
you could feel something, what would you say, are some
things that are indications that like, okay, I need to
get this checked out first.
Speaker 11 (27:52):
And foremost, both men and women experience the classic symptoms
of chest pain, like an elephant is sitting on their chest,
but more than men may also have other symptoms where
they may feel shoulder pain, they may feel nauseous, They
may even feel tired or fatigued. Don't underestimate the tiredness
and the fatigue, especially if you have risk factors for
(28:13):
heart disease, because that could be a sign that there
is something going on and you need to seek help immediately. Yeah,
because sometimes we think we're just exhausted because we are,
but then you have to know when is that something
that is an issue or something that you need to
get checked out. What are some other things that we
can do to help prevent heart disease in us? And
I do want to say Coach Jesse's not here today,
(28:35):
but the reason why I partner it up with her
to do this whole the detox now is because there's
just so many different things that, like we said, are preventable,
and if we pay attention to our everyday habits and
things that we have going on, we can prevent a
lot of this.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
So, you know, let's talk about some of the.
Speaker 11 (28:51):
Things absolutely so, as you said so nicely, heart disease
is very preventable. It's actually preventable eighty percent of the
time prevented is by knowing your risk factors. So the
common ones that we can change, like your blood pressure,
your cholesterol, is your weight at goal, are you eating healthy,
are you avoiding those toxins like cigarettes and at excessive
(29:13):
alcohol use? And are you exercising and destress because stress
is another big risk factor for our community that can
increase our risk of heart disease. But I think it's
also important for us to sit down and talk to
our family and talk about our family history, because if
you have a strong family history of heart disease, unfortunately,
that does predispose you to having it as well. And
(29:34):
getting yourself checked a little bit earlier than what is
recommended is usually what we are offering patients because we
want to start as early as possible.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Dector Bond is here with us and we're going to
talk more about things that you can do to take
care of your heart health. We'll give you the facts
and we'll give you some small steps that you can
take to make sure you have better heart health.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
It's way up.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
I'm more way up with now. Do you know what
what's up?
Speaker 10 (30:02):
Is?
Speaker 2 (30:02):
Way up with angela ye, And we're talking about your
heart health. Doctor Rachel M. Bond is a black woman
and a physician. And here's a fact. A little more
than two percent of us physicians are black women, so
not a high percentage. And we're honored to have her
here with us today. And then the other thing is vitamins.
And I know part of why I teamed up with
Coach Jesse is to do these prevent her multi vitamins
(30:23):
as part of the Detax Now and so I'm like,
whatever we can do to add our part. She does
the D three and the K two that helps her
heart health, immune support, bone strength, all of those things.
And so it's kind of like all in one when
it comes to making sure you take care of yourself
right exactly.
Speaker 11 (30:39):
I can't speak enough about vitamins. People underestimate it. And
vitamin D. I'll touch upon that a little bit because
for communities of color, we often have a severe deficiency.
How do we get vitamin D through the sun and
the extra melanin that you have prevents that from actually
getting absorbed in that level getting higher than what it
should be. So this is why knowing what your vitamin
(31:01):
D levels is important because it does impact cardiac health
just like it impacts bone health and fertility as well.
Right now I'm talking to cardiologist doctor Rachel Mbond. You know,
we do have to start treating our health lack a priority,
and that's one thing that I want to make sure
that we stress. So if heart disease, like you said,
if it runs in your family, you want to stay
ahead of the game.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
Now you have to take action.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
You have to find real solutions so you can stay
on top of your health. You can check out thedtax
now dot com. Thank you Coach to Jesse for making
sure that doctor Rachel Baum was able to make it
in here today to discuss this. And if somebody was
going to ask you right now, what are some small
steps that I can take.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
To make sure that I am going on the right path.
Speaker 11 (31:42):
I think the most important thing is just regaining your piece,
realizing that we are not necessarily in control of what's
going on around us, but we are in control of
how we react to that and respond to it. And
I want to emphasize that because, as I said, stress
unfortunately is likely going to be the leading cause of
why the brown and black community are having the high
(32:04):
rates of high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
So honing in on that is so important. But the
other thing that's important is making sure you're going at
least once a year to the doctor to get your
numbers checked, but not just know like, here's your numbers,
understand what those numbers mean?
Speaker 3 (32:20):
All right?
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Well that tip is for me because I keep on
putting it off and I know I need to go
to the doctor and get everything checked. So, doctor Rachel Bond,
how can people find you if they want to just
follow what you have going on, get all great types
of tips and information and who knows, maybe even be
a patient.
Speaker 11 (32:35):
Yeah, so I am on Instagram and social media at
doctor Rachel m as In Marie Bond.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
Thank you so much, Doctor Rachel M. Bond.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
You can watch that full interview on my YouTube channel
Way Up with You.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
How do you recommend you watch it?
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Valuable information and when we come back, you guys have
the last word.
Speaker 4 (32:52):
I got the phone Tapian, it gets your voice heard.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
What the words? Here's the last word on Way Up
with any what's up?
Speaker 2 (33:01):

Speaker 2 (33:46):
She's going to give you a lot of preventative tips
that you can do to make sure you take care
of your heart health. The number one cause of death,
all right, but you can prevent that. A lot of
things are preventable. And this is your show, so you
have the last word.
Speaker 6 (33:59):
Shartt life. My beautiful wife, Martha Wright twenty first years
of doing you know, not the right thing. Her holding
me down this whole time. I just want to shine
the light on her and just to appreciate her. And
I want to shine the light on Angel La Yee
for doing big things. Come from the breakfast club and
all that stuff, and they're doing her own thing. I
appreciate that too, y'all get me to our mornings. I
(34:20):
appreciate it.
Speaker 12 (34:22):
I'm trying to shine a light on my girlfriend, Kathleen.
I really do appreciate and adore everything that she do
for me. She also granted me with my first baby boy,
so I just want to shout her out on the
special day so she could know that seems very special
for me and I will go to.
Speaker 6 (34:42):
The end of the wall for her. Thank you, Angela.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Angela yee is way up, the way up.
