Hey, it’s Clint here! Welcome back to another episode of ”The Soundtrack of Our Lives,” where we delve into the intricate tapestry of my life as a songwriter living in regional Australia.
Taking a break from the behind the scenes stuff, I'm presenting this recently recorded live set as a bit of a marker in time. There are plenty of tracks of the Soundtrack of Our Lives here and a few tastes of new material in really early stages of development. Hope ya like it!
Setlist:
Well not everything. But most of it. It can be a crushing realisation when you think what you've done isn't anywhere near good enough... but you pick yourself up and try again right?
Ah! When inspiration strikes. Funny how something is the best you can do until you do it better. Check out the companion written pieces to this podcast at my website clintonhoy.com
So, why these choices? Why am I drawn to these side projects instead of diving straight into developing songs for the third album, something I've been vocal about wanting to do?
As you can imagine, my guitar usually goes with me everywhere I travel - and this Brisbane trip was no exception, although, as can happen when you’re away from your usual, there wasn’t a lot of opportunities to hide away and play. So I tried something else - I mapped out the album in words. All the song titles, even some tempos and time signatures, their subject matter and their artistic inspiration. Before we get to the stories behind the songs, hear a chat I had with Kris who was integral to getting this record out of my brain and onto tape... well... a computer at least.
The immersive experience for the new record has just kicked off - head to clintonhoy.com to sign up.
It’s kind of like a living breathing liner notes - each song will have lyrics & bit of trivia, an accompanying podcast and a video. Sounds fun right?

We get into the depths of the album here, tracks 9-12. This was a difficult week for me to objectively reflect on and you'll hear some brutal honesty here.

The second of a four part look at my 2019 album "Pieces of Different Puzzles" - I don't often listen to my own music but I wanted to mark this occasion before the release of the new record and have the chance to talk about the things I loved and the things I learned from in the making of this record.

I had this plan where I was going to release all the songs from Pieces… in well, pieces and let the puzzle come together. Let it never be said that I don’t like getting all the use I can from my metaphors.
