Speaker 4 (00:24):
We want to whistle it. I'm waiting, dude, go ahead,
all right.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
I made some notes here, some things I wanted to
talk about. These are bits that have nothing.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
This is nothing. I get it out today Thursday, Thursday.
What's up?
Speaker 5 (00:36):
Always?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
I always forget to get an allergy. You shot until
freaking Thursday, and I have to get it.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
Today and I go in. I'm all sweaty after a workout. Okay,
oh you go after the workout.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
I have to because they only have two sets of
hours that are open in the middle, which I can
go now they're not and I gotta go to a
Bobby cast in like thirty minutes.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Do you get that behind the both arms?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
It's two in one arm, one in the other arm. Oh,
we were at Floris Say yesterday. You'll get to hear
the interview and watch the episode.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Was awesome. It was awesome. I want to go back.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
It was our best, most fun place to go. I mean,
we worked out with softball team and the basketball team,
but they the bags they gave us. Then they gave
us a bunch of like gear. Which schools are so
generous with their gear. What I liked about Florida State
was one It was all good stuff, but they left
the price tags on so we can know how much
we really get. Yeah, that's allways cool shirt. It was
(01:24):
eighty five bucks on their tat on the tag of it.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
That's a sweatshirt. That's really nice. You should have one. Okay,
I haven't looked at my bag yet. That's a medium, Mike,
do on it?
Speaker 6 (01:34):
I got one?
Speaker 4 (01:35):
Oh you bag? Yeah, Kevin, what are you an XL?
Speaker 5 (01:38):
No, I can sometimes a large tube of medium.
Speaker 7 (01:41):
No way, Like you know, he doesn't realize that he
can wear a medium and just a little snug, you know,
fitted you can see the muscles into that.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Okay, well it's there. I come on, and they the
backpacks had the tag on it. How much was backpack?
Speaker 5 (01:53):
Those are sweet?
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Seventy dollars. I'm gona give it this to your kids though.
Speaker 7 (01:56):
It's funny. It's funny you say that because I told
my son. I'm like, hey, look, look, well we got you.
I got you this bag or whatever, because he said
has an Arkansas one too, and he goes, oh, it's
so cool that I love it.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
He's like, but I don't think I can wear that
to school. I'm like, why not?
Speaker 7 (02:09):
Because when I wore the Arkansas one, I got so
much crap and everyone saying like, oh, you're an Arkansas
fan now, and he's like, yeah, I'm an Arkansas fan.
He's like, now if I wear a Florida State when,
they're gonna be like, oh, you're a Florida State fan now.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
And I'm like, that's so funny. I didn't realize that
you need to stay with Arkansas.
Speaker 7 (02:21):
So he's like, I'll make that my basketball bag, but
this will be my school.
Speaker 5 (02:25):
I get that at the gym with the clothes I wear. Yeah,
they're like, oh Arkansas, wait Auburn.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
I'm like no, no, no, no, I don't understand. No no,
no no, no, yeah, understand. We get it all free.
Speaker 8 (02:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
They're like, oh that's cool.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
I'm like yeah, exactly, okay, so this was gonna pull out.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
I haven't done any of those breaks. I did one.
We were on the flight, yes, ready together, I did
one just for fun. It was just yesterday. Man. Yeah,
you're like, I haven't done an. I'm dying.
Speaker 8 (02:49):
Man, I'm dying.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
I didn't do one for like nine days, eight days
something like that.
Speaker 7 (02:53):
Like you're like Kevin, He's like, man, I haven't drank
since well, I drank a little bit yesterday.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
It's the only one that I've done was yesterday and
like almost two weeks, so I've had to stop doing them.
But I'm getting this stuff in the mail now because
we had like a holiday, and but I did win yesterday,
which was awesome because the one break you guys are
with me on dorm Dude's Break.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Dorm Dude, dorm.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Dud's Break, YEP, I want an Amari Cooper signed jersey
and there was no cheating.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
They didn't know.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
I just said to the AFC North Boom they got
I want. I don't know what i'mnna do with the jersey.
I have nothing to do with. So a couple of
stories I want to tell. I guess I have been
a part of the growth of whatever dorm Dude's Break is,
and that sometimes there's so many listeners that go and go.
(03:38):
I found this out because of Bobby one wanted Tom
Brady signed helmet yesterday because I got in the room
and he was like, I'm only here because I knew,
and I just wanted Tom Brady signed helmet.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
And I was like, God, that's awesome, you wish.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
And so every once in a while they'll send me
my stuff, they send me something free as well. And
so they sent me a jersey and I'm Eddie, don't
say what the jersey is because I want the other
two guys to hear and stuff.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
They can guess. They sent me.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
First of all, they sent me two jerseys that I
haven't won that are free signed. One was Traylon Burks
and you know why they sent me the Titans. Traylon
Burks Arkansas. He's from Arkansas. So they sent me another
one and I had it on my table in the kitchen,
just laid out.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
And one of our close friends, my wife and I.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
One of our close friends is a vet and she
was over working out with my wife yesterday because we're
all friends.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Her name is Josie.
Speaker 3 (04:23):
She comes on the show sometime and Josie was walking
to the house and sees the jersey and is like.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
What why is that even here? Named that jersey.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
She was triggered by it. Yeah, named that jersey ray Rice. Okay,
quality guest because ray Rice was Watson accused. Okay, so
that's been good. Yeah, oh, Jay Simpson, none of those. Okay,
I think use some context clues here. Her name is Josie,
(04:56):
she's coming to work out.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
She's a vet.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Oh duh. There it is right there.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
Mike Vick's Michael. He said, I'm like, Michael jersey sign
and she was.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Like, oh, he's terrible, And I was like, you know what,
you know, you're right. I'm not going to keep that
one out.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
You didn't give it to her? Did you burn it?
Speaker 8 (05:18):
No?
Speaker 4 (05:18):
No, he's still.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
I mean it's out right now because she didn't do
until she left. But it's pretty it's pretty cool. Mike
like vic Yeah, but that that was the jersey there.
So this is the other thing that I told you
guys I want. This is a Terry McLaurin signed Funko.
Speaker 5 (05:34):
That's cool.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
What is that like a bobblehead? It's a funko, you know,
But I think I haven't opened it.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
But the weird thing is I think he signed the
box and not the funko, because I guess they.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
Don't you keep him in the box. I have some
of those.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
Why would I do that?
Speaker 6 (05:49):
I have a post Malone one I've never taken out
of the box.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
But why would I keep it? He signed the box?
I wanted to take it and put it out here?
What about my sign many helmets? Do I leave them
in the case?
Speaker 8 (05:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (05:58):
Leave those in the package.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Man, It's always better if you leave them in the package, right, Mike?
Speaker 3 (06:02):
For what though, I would get more enjoyment out of
it than if I sold it for seventy dollars if
it were out.
Speaker 9 (06:07):
If it's just for you, yes, but if you're going
to like resell it or have it as a collector's item,
you don't want to take it out of the box
and you want it signed there.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
I have like five of those and they're all out
of the box.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Are they signed?
Speaker 8 (06:17):
No?
Speaker 4 (06:17):
I do have a post One one too, But collect
bunkos bunkos?
Speaker 6 (06:21):
Yeah, I a pop I have a bunch, yeah, yes.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
Chris Stapleton couple of Tom Brady Drew Bloodso wow.
Speaker 4 (06:26):
You're not funko pop culture?
Speaker 3 (06:27):
No?
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Man, me either, really, but I know about them.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
But they just pulled this out and I had picked
the nfcas trying to get some cowboy stuff, which I
just almost not a lot of cowboys, but I want
the term mclauren signed funk.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
That's cool.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
That ain't nothing yet is that one of the desk
for now? I'd give it.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
As I think I might want to pull it out
of the case though, Okay, pretty cool.
Speaker 6 (06:51):
Now what's in Bobby's bag?
Speaker 4 (06:56):
I haven't reached into the bag. I don't know anything
about cards.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
I don't buy cards because I just don't know enough
about them.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
I know what happened. So I got into this.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
They were like, oh, it's the first time this has
ever been released by Leaf, the company Leaf, and you
guys should can probably come look at this. But they're
not just cards. And I was like, I don't know
what it is, but why not, I'm here to taino.
So I bid, right, not bid? I picked a random number.
It's like one through thirty.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
How much to get in it? Twenty bucks or something.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
But and what they do is a serial number, so
the serial number of the card if you're the one
that picked that number, because they don't make anything more
than thirty of them something like that.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
And I was like, okay, I'll take let me see
what this is.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
One.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I took one because I was like, oh, first one up,
I'll take it, So I take one. I gotta be
careful with this. It's not actually just a card. You
open it and inside I have game worn jersey pieces
from the card is called nineteen seventy seven. I have
game more in jersey clips of the different people of Pistol,
Pete Bill Walden. Now I don't really think about hockey
(08:08):

that is. Oh wait, I know, Matt, I got it.

I have Rod Carew obviously, Eddie Murray, Andre Dawson.
Speaker 4 (08:33):

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Baines, Ernie Banks, Wow, Don Sutton. They're all parts of
their jersey game warn jerseys. This is all Hall of
Famers nineteen seventy seven. It's called uh. You have received
a memorabilia card from Leaf Trading Cards. On the inside
of the card pieces of game use memorabilia. I don't
know if they all Hall of famers or not. But
(08:56):
they're all have some big warp. But yeah, I gotta
be super careful with that.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
But it's all their freaking game War in Jerseys.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
I didn't even know that was a thing.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
I didn't need.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
It's brand new, h I've been told so I won
this and I was like.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
This is a gross thing over let me hop in again.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
I didn't want them all, but I have a couple
other ones if you guys want to go through them.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
This one is not Game warn Jersey. But this one.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
When they opened it, they said it's called the book Club,
and I'm like, what the heck is book club?
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Then you open it and it's a I don't know
what this one is. By the way, I was just
gonna get lunchbox. Thisay is soccer.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
I picked the number seven and they only made twelve
of these in total production. These are all soccer players.
I've never heard of any of them, but they all signed.
There's eight soccer signatures. There's It's not like Messy. I
would know those guys. Idiot alex I would know that
that guy idiot, Hey, idiot, Harry Maguire, never heard of him.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
I don't know, I don't know if that's the case.
But what do you mean I think that, I mean

Speaker 9 (12:41):
The status of all those people, and and you're talking
at global you're taking seventy seven yearbook though.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
Yeah, but that's just that's big in America. Though. This one,
like you can bid all across the.
Speaker 5 (12:51):

Speaker 4 (13:01):
Are any of these people any good?
Speaker 6 (13:04):

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Keep going.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
This one is called an autobiography and it's Steph Curry.
So it's Steph. It's a book on the front. Then
you open it and it tells you the little story
about Steph and he signed it.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (13:27):
Yeah, careful, don't touch that. Wow that's cool man.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
What are these things?
Speaker 4 (13:32):
I've never seen that little booklets?
Speaker 5 (13:34):
Yeah, they're like growing up, like.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
It's the first year leaf apparently, like I know, I
don't think about cards. So the research is a little
bit I've done. First year leaf's ever made these. And
then my final one, it's called a history book, and
they're in these cases. In this one says it says
congratulations you ever seed an autographed card from Leaf Trading
Cards on the card of your find out. So this one,
(13:56):
like the soccer one, remember this is a try. This
has nine autographs with their picture. I can tell who
they all are.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
Yeah, so you guys see all this?
Speaker 3 (14:06):
Yeah, Okay, here are the people on there. Ricky Henderson outfield,
oh base, Deealer, Craig Biggio second base, Knkrafey Jr. Outfield,
it's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Mike Schmidt third base, This is amazing. Calken Jr.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Shortstop, Miguel Cabrera, d H Johnny bench catcher. Wow, Jeff
Bagwell first base. Wow, Sammy Sosa outfield. It's like their
line the lineup.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
What on earth, dude, that's amazing.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
That's pretty cool too.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
It's like all their real autographs in there.
Speaker 6 (14:38):
So I found a comparable one.
Speaker 9 (14:40):
Now this one is how many are on the soccer.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
One, seven twelve.
Speaker 9 (14:44):
There's one with eight, but one of them happens to
be Ronaldo. Oh, that one's gonna be crazy and it's
going for fifteen hundred.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
Yeah, so this one's probably four or five hundred bucks. Then, yeah,
I think it just came out like it just started to.
Speaker 5 (14:55):
Yeah, maybe give it a little time.
Speaker 6 (14:57):
It's an investment piece, right there.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
I sent it to my friend Paul. I said, are
they any good? And he replied, yes, all those guys, yes,
they're all good. Okay, but are those cool?
Speaker 5 (15:09):
Yeah? That's different.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
I stopped, he stopped doing breaks and except for one,
except for one, I just did it because you guys
are watching.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
Why don't you guys feel some fun? Okay? But I
have no idea what I'm doing with all the jerseys
and stuff. I have no idea.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
You know how many?
Speaker 4 (15:23):
Yeah, I like ten or something.
Speaker 9 (15:24):
You're a social breaker now, well, I told we're gonna
vestca how to do it?
Speaker 7 (15:27):
Our social breaker? I only I only break in social drinks.
Speaker 4 (15:34):

Speaker 10 (15:35):
Okay, cool, leave it there, I'll get that. I'm gonna
throw it there, thank you man. Okay, So did that?
Is there anything else I wanted to get to? I
know we have the interview we're gonna do here, but
I think that's probably.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
It for now.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
We still don't know if when the show is coming back.
We can do it whenever. We can always take it
and go go independent two.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
Yeah, what does that mean? Hey, what does that mean?
It sounds cool, though exactly ever heard of it? B
YU Notre Dame. Yeah, independent.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
If because DraftKings doesn't do a bunch during just baseball
and basketball, because it's not really a big gambling no
March Madness. A little bit during March Madness, and we'll
probably do something. But my point is we could always
take this and put it on the Nashville Podcast Network
and then just make money up on it as a podcast.
Because we don't do that. DraftKings just pays us to
do the show. We can always do that if we
(16:36):
wanted to keep doing this.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
But I don't know what we're gonna do yet. Have
my people contact your people and won't do it that way?
Speaker 5 (16:42):
Our people can people to ye, yeah, I haven't call you.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
That's that's my my son, my oldest son.
Speaker 6 (16:48):
That's at each other.
Speaker 4 (16:49):
So I'll trade them one bag. He's like, deal, I
guess that. Oh, oh, I didn't the big thing.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
This is a big thing, so what Oh I knew
there's a reason I wanted to do this ship.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
What what are you doing? You're giving me the CD
LAMB helmet?
Speaker 8 (17:05):
This is it?
Speaker 4 (17:06):
I knew it get into me, Mike, the patience. This
is great. Okay, it was that dude. It's a box.
What's in there? Bacon? Well, this is the whole point
of the bit.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
That's like out my wife, I'll have a gift at present.
I've wrapped and I was, okay, this is your gift.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
What's in it? You can open it. It's the experience
of opening it. I knew this is what I want
to do. Okay, thank you.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
So we just finished our second season of twenty five
Whistles and I went online and I ordered paid for these.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
Mike, can you walk in there? Here we get a
little some of this we can do. Put on the camera. Yeah,
come on in, Mike. So what they are.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
It's a box and it's a gold whistle.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
So pretty.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Your name's in great all right, put this in the trash.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
This goes. I don't want to touch them. We get fingerprints
on him. But it says on the top of the
box twenty five whistles Day the whistles are made of gold.
Speaker 4 (18:07):
Ho we the gold amazon it. I got the golden whistle.
So there you go. That's really cool, dude.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
I'm gonna get mine.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Eddie, hold on, let me.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
Just let me pull him out in order, and it
says on the inside on the mirror, twenty of Whistles
twenty twenty four.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
Wow, this is Eddie. You can blow the first golden whistle. Okay,
I got the gold whistle.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
That's so cool.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
Dang, that's legit.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Yeah, a little cover too, well, how about that? Trust me?
That ain't what I paid the most for. Hey, is
this real gold man? Yeah, of course, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
I know I bought one, two three, I bought six
of them and it was a few thousand dollars.
Speaker 8 (18:59):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Yeah, look at this thing. This is me. Oh yeah,
I've got my name on it. It's got a ball
in there. Dude, this is gonna blow.
Speaker 6 (19:08):
It's a diamond.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
Don't you know what? It looks like a pearl in there.
N I forgot Kevin.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
Oh I know you can't read one too. I did, Kevin.
This is yours, all right, dude, this is going in
the office.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
Yeah, go, thank you. And then I think this is read.
I'll give this to read today. So this slip, this
thing would just take out. Yeah, I take it out, man. Yeah,
and that's read you want? If the whistle even works, Yeah,
I'm about to blow right now, like, let me do
it ahead. We're not ending the show, but go ahead.
It may not even work be a real whistle. It's
(19:51):
a little I mean, I need to break it in
and you break it in. But it works. Dude, this
is so cool again. Okay, I love that.
Speaker 6 (20:00):
It sounds luxurious.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
It does. It sounds rich.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
A shirt.
Speaker 7 (20:06):
Okay, so we gotes. What is the saying on the
top there? What's up like right on top of the whistle?
Let me give my camera. I can't see that.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Says your name, and then it says I think it
may be like.
Speaker 6 (20:17):
The American classic.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Yeah, the place I had to like go and have
it made.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
It's like a little seal. That's really cool. Thank you, dude, welcome,
thank you.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Who's who do you think the only person I got
one that's not on the show, because I got I
bought six of them.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
I got you one too because it's awesome.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
But there's five of us because read video is not
here right now do the ski the last minute. Who's
the one person I got one for that's not on
the show.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
Kevin Legrette.
Speaker 7 (20:46):
He doesn't know it yet, but yeah, that's really good.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Hey, Mike also got Mike Vick before Kevin did I think,
didn't you? Yeah, he knew, he didn't say it. I
can tell we know each other's eyes.
Speaker 8 (20:59):
All right.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Let me set the the uh, let me set the
intro up.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Here's our sit down with Arkansas men's basketball coach Eric Musselman.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
You can check out the full Too.
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Much Access episode It's up to it too Much Access
dot com musterin Arkansas became the fourth program ever to
defeat the number one seeds in the region of back
to back years in CAA tournament. Eleven players in the
NBA since twenty nineteen. Like the winningest coach in the
SEC since he joined.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
He's so cool.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Yeah, he's awesome. That we're not having good year this year,
but awesome. So we'll do that and here he is
and we'll get with the player after this. Coach. I
have a friend who's a SEC ref, and I asked him,
I said, hey, say say a word.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
About coach, you know.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Uh, uh, well, it depends which ref it was.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
I don't eve want to sell a ref was because
it didn't for the sake of this. Uh, what do
you think the refs would say about you?
Speaker 1 (21:51):
Intense?
Speaker 3 (21:52):
That's the exact word. He used, Wow, he does like
you a lot. Well, that's a good thing. I agree,
it's like selfishly, I agree, So I'm worried about that
sometimes he said that, you know, this ref has different
relationships with different coaches, Like, are there referees that you
have relationships with that you know, we'll know you, but
we'll call your crap out quicker because they know you
and have a relationship with you thousand percent.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
You know. I think that.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Like a big part of the referee's job is to
try to manage not just the players, but also the coaches.
And certainly you know you have different rapports with different
refs for sure, just as you know in life.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Is it ever theater when you're big and bold and
you're waving your arms? Are you ever doing it? So
that statement is made almost like a manager with an
umpire or is it always? Is that what your heart's saying?
Speaker 2 (22:41):
It's what my heart's Otherwise I wouldn't take my shirt
off after a big win out. I mean that that
definitely wouldn't happen. It's just pure emotion with me.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
Does the shirt off? And you brought it up and
I've been to the gate two of the games, maybe
both the games. So we take a shirt off. But
I was in Iowa it was freezing, and we beat Kansas,
one of the coolest games I've ever been too. And
you took a shirt off, and then other people start
taking their shirt off in the crowd, and I grabbed
the bottom of I was gonna do it. I was like,
I'm not gonna do it. I can't. I can't do that,
but like, you almost inspire me. Didn't want to make everyone,
(23:11):
you know, I just here's what I thought. Two things. One,
I thought, coach in good shape. I thought that, yeah,
because you took a shirt off the same thing, coach,
and I was like, look at that. Then secondly, I thought, man,
the games have to get bigger for him to take
a shirt off now, like it has to continuously be bigger.
But it's never gonna.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Why I dat my shirt on after the Duke game,
Yeah good? And it will never be the pants, never
be the pants National Championship.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
It's all of it. It's a tear away to all
of it, and it's just him. The first time you
did that, where did that come from?
Speaker 2 (23:42):
We actually did it at Nevada in the locker room
after the game and my wife wrote Mountain West Champs
on my stomach.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
That was like how it first started.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
One of the players you know, told me they didn't
think I would do it if we won pregame, and
I did it.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Your players, it's interesting the relationships that you have with
them because a lot of these guys, if you look
at last year, you had three kids go to the NBA,
So that's a that's a quick relationship. You're there whenever
they come to school here and they're a five star kid,
if it's you know, if it's Nick or whomever it is,
is the goal to get them to the NBA within
a after a year. And with some kids is a
(24:22):
different like how to be honest with you, get two
or three years, I can get you in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
I think every you know, player has his own kind
of race. But certainly for the three that we're here
for eight and a half months, Jordan Walsh and Nick
Smith and Anthony Black, the goal certainly was get you
to the NBA as quick as we possibly can. Try
to help the draft stock, you know, as much as
we can. And they all got drafted in different ranges.
(24:48):
Anthony Black a lottery pick, Nick Smith late first, Jordan
Walsh in the second round, and so their path moving
forward could be different as well. And on a different timeline.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
We ever turn on a Celtics if Jordan's playing, like
you used to keep up with the.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Guys if you can thousand percent, I mean, and with
Jordan right now, most of his minutes of coming in
in the G League with Maine. So I'll watch those games,
and for sure I have NBA packet. I can tell
you every play that the Orlando Magic run because Anthony
Black starting in the last like eight or nine games.
So I watch every second of every Orlando game and
(25:24):
if we're playing that same night, I'll tape it and
watch it when I get home.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Is it tough to have a kid that maybe on
the border, on the borderline of leaving or not leaving,
and for you to have to go you need to go,
because I'm sure you've done that before. But because that,
like Macro, better for the program and better for the
kid than selfishly keeping a kid back.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
Yeah, I don't think there's any doubt, you know, And
I didn't really have a part of his decision. But
a guy like Jalen Williams after sophomore year. He and
his family made that decision, and it turned out to
be a great decision. You look at him in hindsight now,
he got to start a lot of games last year.
He's in his second year. He's a big contributor. He's
got great reputation as a great locker room guy, and
(26:03):
he's producing on the floor. I think probably the toughest
decision that I've been a part of was the Martin
Twins at Nevada. They came back for an extra year
after being on draft boards, but it worked out really
well for them. And then certainly Isaiah Joe was a
tough decision. He decided to come back. It was during
COVID and then he was like, I don't even know
if there's gonna be a college season, I better go.
(26:24):
And that turned out to be a great decision for
Isaiah as well.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Do you ever see when you watch game tape if
you see you? Do you ever see your dad when
you see you like your manner? Because I honestly like
watching a lot of your dad coach and watching like
old NBA films, there's a lot there like nature, not
even nurture, like you automatically have some of his mannerisms
on the side, it's wild. Do you ever see that yourself?
Speaker 1 (26:50):
No question?
Speaker 2 (26:50):
And if I don't see it, my mom will point
it out, my sister will pointed out. But maybe the
people that pointed out the most, or my dad's friends
that are still living. I get emails from several of
those guys, and a lot of his former players will say, hey,
your reaction to this or you know you're celebrated, Like, yeah,
I hear it all the times.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
A coach.
Speaker 11 (27:11):
I have so many questions about the diet coke, like
does it do you buy it when you get to
the arena? Do you bring it with you? Like is
there someone that gets it for you? What's it for?
Like why do you have the diet coke?
Speaker 2 (27:25):
Well, definitely it's already there waiting. Riley Hall brings it
from the locker room out there. I really don't drink
that much's it's it might be half of a bottle
in the first half because I just kind of sip
on it. I do, like I still get nervous, you know,
fifty nine years old, coached a lot of different places.
(27:45):
Every game, I have angst and so I need a
little bit of something in my mouth to you know,
so that my voice.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
Stays pretty clear.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Do you still enjoy this?
Speaker 2 (27:56):
I do, yeah, I'll tell I will say Bobby that
like when we win, it's the greatest thing in the
world to do this the losing, because I'm so miserable
after a loss. You know, at some point in life,
you know you don't want to have, you know, ten
miserable nights or whatever how many losses you have that year,
(28:16):
because it's I'm so miserable from the time we lose
until the time we get our next win. And you
know that part of it. I ten years ago, I
thought i'd be better at it as I got older,
I haven't gotten any better at it.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
I'm miserable too when we lose. Just so you know,
I'm glad you aren't, too, honestly, because if you'd be like,
you know, we'll get them next time. I feel good,
like I freaking want to eat my fist so and
I feel That's why.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
I think I relate to this games. I really do,
because our fans are the greatest when we win. But
when we.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Lose, man, it's it's it's it's a tough job, you
know what I mean. Like I'm not going to a
restaurant anywhere. I'm gonna, you know, just stay at home.
I'm not going to go to a movie because our
fans have great passion, which is really cool because they
got high expectations, just like we do.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
What's the best thing about college and what's the best
thing about NBA. The difference is between the two coaching.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
And okay, so the best thing is NBA Rich Carlton
and NBA Perdam.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
And the food and the food out of the charter.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Playing those three things I certainly miss, yes, because we're
not staying in any Rich Carletons. And then the other
thing I would say, in all honesty the fourth thing,
and I'm kind of joking.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
But also serious. The cities.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
You know, every city you go to, Like you go
to LA you're playing the Lakers, playing the Clippers. You
go to the Bay Area, you're playing the Golden State Warriors.
You go to Chicago, you're playing the Bulls. And so
the amount of friends that have moved to these big
cities or are close enough to the big cities, that's
really cool to be able to travel, you know, to
the thirty different cities and you're always leaving tickets on
(29:50):
the road as a road team for some friend that
you know in college. I don't have any friends in Tuscaloose.
I don't have any friends. When we go to Auburn,
I don't have any friends when we go to There
are no cities. I mean, my road tickets never get
used unless my family goes on a road trip. And
I will say, in all honesty that is that's a
big difference. And then on the floor, there's so many differences.
(30:13):
I mean, the way you sub because the game's eight
minutes longer in the NBA, you're playing eighty two games
as opposed to thirty. You got to rest your veterans.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
A little bit more in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
And then you know, little things like just being able
to advance the ball on a time out late game.
In the NBA, you got to have great late game packages.
Men's college basketball, we can't advance it. Women's college basketball,
they can advance it. And then in college baseline, out
of bounds super important. In the NBA, your side out
of bounds, you better be really good offensively and defensively.
Speaker 11 (30:45):
Coach I say that Coach Smart has become your holy
bat guy, you know, stepping out and being like oh, coach, coach,
back it up, back it up, We're gonna get a
t Do you tell them before the game, like, hey man,
just get in my face, don't don't let me do
anything stupid.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
How does that go down?
Speaker 4 (30:58):
I'll like.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
If I'm about to like lose it sometimes I know,
and and sometimes I'll say like, hey, you know when
so and so walks back down here, like like be ready,
you know, cause I'm I'm gonna be if I'm sitting down,
I'm gonna be in a ject mode to you know,
to get out of my chair pretty quickly and and
give my thoughts on something. And my son Michael has
(31:22):
has kind of entered into the hold me back time,
you know. So it's now I have two people tag
team and trying to keep me out, you know, in
good graces.
Speaker 7 (31:31):
Yeah, But at the the other day I kind of
saw you fighting with them, like are you telling them
like get your hands off me?
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Like I got this most of the time.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
Yeah, all right.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Final three questions. You've been around basketball for so long
a run all the big stars, so when you see
the Kobe Lebron, Michael Jordan, and you see the comparisons,
like where are you falling on that. Wow.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
As far as like the greatest of all time, Yeah,
I have all these different categories and like greatest entertainer
of all time in my opinion, Magic Johnson, greatest competitor,
Michael Jordan, maybe biggest freak because he.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
Can play one through five Lebron James.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
So but if if someone said, hey, who is the greatest,
I'm going with Michael Jordan, I will say, like there's
a there's a small category of like who was really
really super.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
Hard to game plan for?
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Alan Iverson? Super hard to game plan for, Charles Barkley,
super hard to game plan for. So a lot of
a lot of great players in the history of the game,
and all superstars create this dilemma when you try to
figure out how to game plan against him.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
Who is your biggest When you think the biggest headache
you're talking about game planning in it, it's just tough,
Like who had your number? What player had your number?
As a coach, you hated playing it because you knew
it probably wasn't gonna be good.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
Wow, I know what coach had my number? And I
never ever want to ever coach against At any point
Huby Brown, and I would tell our staff like, hey,
if we're not up by at least seven points under
two minutes, we got no chance to beat Hube Brown
because he was.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
So good late game.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
I would say, you know, game plan wise, the hardest guy,
UH would would.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Probably be Kobe Bryant.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
And what we tried to do with Kobe first half,
we send him to the left our first quarter, to
the left second quarter, to the right straight up in
the third and then whatever might have worked. We tried
to do that in the fourth quarter. But he was
so smart. I mean he he figured it out after
you play him once or twice.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
Who's the best pure shooter you've ever coached college and NBA?
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Best pure shooter, uh, A guy named Kendall Stevens at Nevada,
And I would say the next best would be Isaiah Joe.
Speaker 4 (33:50):
Why Isia Joe?
Speaker 3 (33:51):
I mean, he's taking it to the next level, the
next level. It's been unable every game he played here,
every game, and even I didn't see what he's doing
now there at that let even but even Jalen like
he's developed such an outside shot as well, because he
has to play that role a bit more because he's
not six eleven seven foot how many shots of these
guys getting up a day if they're a three point
(34:13):
shooter that's their role. How many opinion? For example, what's
he shooting.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Day by one thousand? Yeah? Yep.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
And some guys got like they you come up with
many goals, like, hey, am I going to make five
hundred a day?
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Is it two fifty today?
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Other players that I've been around are like, I'm gonna
get up x amount of shots regardless of how many
go down. So each guy should have his own, you know,
mini goals per day and then mini goals per week.
Not everybody does that, but the great ones certainly do
it all right.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
Final question, what's the ceiling for this year's team?
Speaker 1 (34:46):
Wow? Great question.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
I'm still trying to figure out roles, rotations, I think
because and we know it was an exhibition game, which
doesn't count because we played so well against Perdue, because
we played really well against Duke, although both those games
at home, which our home advantages is pretty dog gone good.
I mean, I think this team can can do what
(35:07):
past teams have done, which uh put themselves in a
chance to one. We got to make the tournament. Right now,
we're you know, our numbers need to improve from where
they've been in the past at this time, so our
ken palm numbers have to improve. If we somehow were
able to get in the tournament, I think this team
can really peak it in March because so many new
(35:28):
pieces were a veteran team. I think this team could
be really good in March. But we got to be
We got to put ourselves in position to be in position.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Coach, we appreciate your time.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
No thanks, sure, thanks you guys.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
All right, so this is our chat with senior guard
Calef Battle edie call kleb.
Speaker 4 (35:44):
Oh yeah, yeah, I thought his name was Caleb.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Caleb transferred over from Temple. Uh, this is us. I
mean he can shoot like crazy. Here's Caleb Battle. If
you were to see us walk in the gym looking,
I mean exactly like this.
Speaker 12 (35:55):
And we're like we're here to we're here to play.
What would you think for el like first suppression for all?
Like we we're walking with like we're trying to make
the team.
Speaker 8 (36:03):
Uh. I don't know if I passed you guys the ball.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
I feel like I was like a good shooter at
least maybe not the best athlete, but I like a
shoot a little bit like I got glasses.
Speaker 8 (36:13):
I think it looked like you'll be able to manage
my money better.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
Okay, here, all right, that was the funniest thing ever
said on the show, to be honest with you, all
the things that were said, that's it.
Speaker 12 (36:22):
That's number one, the funniest thing we've ever said.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
Okay, why Arkansas.
Speaker 8 (36:28):
Great players, great fans. I like it.
Speaker 3 (36:31):
Whenever you come into this place and there's twenty thousand people,
like when you play, dude, is that the biggest loudest
you've played in by far?
Speaker 8 (36:38):
Yeah? It was amazing.
Speaker 13 (36:39):
I mean the crowd is loud, and now you just
want to go out there and compete.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
Can you tell how hyper crowd's going to be about
how early they're here and during like shoot around warm ups?
Speaker 13 (36:47):
Oh not really, I mean during during during the Duke game,
I saw a lot of like people like set up
the white like shirts or tiles before the game. And
then we had our first warm up like an hour before,
and I went back in the locker room. We got
a pregram speech, and I walked outside and then it
was like a couple of thousand, like five thousand extra people. Yeah,
(37:07):
And we went back inside and it was like ten
thousand extra people. So I was like, Okay, so I
guess it's time.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
Do you dream of playing basketball when you sleep? Do
you ever have dreams about basketball?
Speaker 8 (37:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (37:16):
What's your dream?
Speaker 3 (37:17):
What's like your most frequent basketball dream?
Speaker 8 (37:20):
In the game winner in the NBA?
Speaker 12 (37:23):
You haven't done that yet?
Speaker 8 (37:24):
No?
Speaker 11 (37:24):
Never are you wearing normal clothes or like or you
wearing something weird?
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Now?
Speaker 13 (37:28):
I was got on like a white jersey, like a
home jersey though always, so I have dream I'm naked.
Speaker 12 (37:36):
No, I have that dream. I haven't dream like that.
I got out of any jersey.
Speaker 5 (37:40):
No, no, no, no.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
So when you come to a school like Arkansas and
you got other other players that obviously come from great backgrounds,
great basketball players like and you also you came from
a big school coming here, Like, is it intimidated to
come here?
Speaker 12 (37:52):
Or does it like inspire you?
Speaker 8 (37:54):
Make you better?
Speaker 13 (37:55):
Inspires me? Nothing intimidates me on the court. I kind
of like to be the person intimate the other people.
I want to bully people when I'm on the car
or make them scared to guard me. That's why we're
I'm Misseri actually because I feel like, no I can
guard me.
Speaker 12 (38:07):
Do you do you talk trash.
Speaker 8 (38:10):
Only when they say something.
Speaker 12 (38:11):
First, what's the meanest thing you may's ever said to you?
Speaker 3 (38:15):
Like that affected you where you're like, all right, all game,
I'm in his ear, Like what offends you?
Speaker 12 (38:20):
Like you can't shoot?
Speaker 13 (38:22):
I feel like it offends me when somebody just feels
like confident, like they're looking at me, they're not nervous. Yeah,
then I kind of get offended. Now I'm probably going
to try to make you nervous, knowing me.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
What I'm offending you right now during this interview.
Speaker 8 (38:36):
No, we're not competing right now.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
What about if somebody is like sagging off you on purpose,
like just to show you that, I'll.
Speaker 8 (38:43):
Probably talk trash after that, because I'm after that I
make a bucket. I'm probably gonna say something.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
If you were shooting empty gym nobody around one hundred shots,
how many of those could you make them? Three?
Speaker 13 (38:54):
If I'm shooting a hundred shots empty nobody in front
of you, I fly, I can make all a hundred, okay,
but you can't make one hundred?
Speaker 8 (39:00):
Like how I can? I think I don't. Canda's not
in my vocabulary. I feel I could do anything that's.
Speaker 11 (39:04):
Cool, that's really cool, That's definitely number one of my vocabulary.
Speaker 12 (39:07):
Now I'm trapped because if I say anything else, I'm
a big loser.
Speaker 8 (39:09):
Trying to talk him out.
Speaker 3 (39:10):
If it's motivational, okay, If what would be your ideal
at the end of the season three point percentage at
the end of the season over forty, what are you now?
Speaker 12 (39:20):
You know?
Speaker 8 (39:21):
I don't even know. I don't even know my stats.
Speaker 13 (39:23):
I just know all the bad things I do because
I know my coach and side would definitely chop of
that film and send that to me to get me better.
So I don't know about the good I just know
about like things I got to improve on.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
Do you ever make a play like mess up turnover
and you're like, God, I'm coming out the game and
you don't eve want to look over at the bench?
Speaker 13 (39:37):
Yeah, or if I foul, for sure, I'm coming out
the game, but I'm gonna go back in there.
Speaker 8 (39:42):
But I just know you know, I'm coming out for
a little bit.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
If you're hot and you're feeling it, you keep throwing
it up. You have green light, duh.
Speaker 8 (39:50):
Here. I feel like I have a green green light
before I even shoot my first shots.
Speaker 12 (39:54):
One hundred for one hundred. Yeah, yeah, could you shoot
if you shot.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
From like the state here, like you just hi him
fired from right here.
Speaker 8 (40:01):
Coach get mad, I better make it. If you made it,
what you'd be mad? No? If I shot at you.
Speaker 12 (40:08):
If you missed it, he'd be mad.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
But you don't miss.
Speaker 12 (40:09):
You make a hundred for one hundred?
Speaker 8 (40:11):
Yeah? Well, in my mind, every shot I shoot, you
know I was going in round. I wouldn't even shoot it.
Speaker 3 (40:14):
If you're off a night. Let's say you missed it
four in row. You are you anxious to get back
out and keep throwing it up?
Speaker 12 (40:19):
Yeah, just to do what sull prove yourself to make it.
What's the most you have made the game?
Speaker 8 (40:25):
Most three pointers? High school? Eleven something like that.
Speaker 12 (40:28):
What's the most point you ever scored in high school game?
Speaker 13 (40:29):
In my high school, like we said, I used to
be taking on in the third quarter, so I remember
I have forty and the third and then they didn't
put me back in for the fourth quarter, so it
was like three minutes left and the third I have
forty already, and then coach will let me play because
he said I got stay in this league for a while,
and he's the one to get everybody else mad and
stuff like that.
Speaker 8 (40:46):
So I want a loser? Yeah, hey killed them keeping
in the game. You did?
Speaker 11 (40:50):
He didn't listen When you look, when you look in
the sideline, you see, like, you know, twelve fourteen assistant coaches.
Speaker 12 (40:56):
Can you hear all of them yelling?
Speaker 8 (40:58):
You?
Speaker 4 (40:58):
Are you supposed to pay attention to only one?
Speaker 8 (41:00):
Now you hear everybody's voice.
Speaker 13 (41:02):
It's funny when you play basketball, you hear like the
voices you have to hear, like when I when the fans,
I don't hear anything but on the sideline if I
hear like shoot shooter, back door cut or whatever. You
hear that stuff you don't hear like you s No,
I never heard that. I wish I did. It'll probably
make me. It probably energized me. Turn me up a
little bit.
Speaker 12 (41:19):
Your goal to lead the scene scoring, No, you probably will.
Speaker 13 (41:24):
No, well, who knows, But I mean that's not my goal.
My goal is to win as many games.
Speaker 12 (41:30):
You don't keep up with that. No, you know you're
you're I mean you're there.
Speaker 8 (41:37):
I'm not lying at all.
Speaker 13 (41:39):
My people is always telling me, if you know you're
good at something, then you don't have to worry about that.
Speaker 8 (41:43):
Focus on other things.
Speaker 3 (41:45):
All right, that's it for us. I didn't get a
text for my friend. Who's it soccer guy? He said yes,
and he said do you want them in order of greatness? Yeah,
he said, obviously this is opinion based. Two of them
play for the club I support. That's so he's going
to list him out.
Speaker 4 (41:59):
But he's a arsenal. He's an arsenal game, he's an
arsenal guy.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
Got your whistles, I'll take read his.
Speaker 4 (42:06):
Don't tell him. Ed, you have more football cards for
your kids? Awesome? Oh dude, you know what's funny?
Speaker 7 (42:11):
One of those you left in the package and so
I opened it and I was like, all right, I
got one of them, like and I'll clean his room
or something. And I'm like, I got a little prize
for you. And so we opened it up and it
was just a card that said, sorry, didn't win your jersey.
Speaker 4 (42:22):
Oh yeah, try again next time. Yeah, Like, dad, what
do I do?
Speaker 1 (42:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (42:28):
That's why I get this crap.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
They send stuff if like, they have to send something
so it's not considered gambling.
Speaker 4 (42:33):
Oh is that right?
Speaker 3 (42:34):
Yeah, because you're not just betting money and then you
might win if you bid. You get some cards or something.
Speaker 4 (42:39):
Oh that was like I thought that was like lottery style,
but okay, these are baseball cards. Cool. Anyway, that's the deal.
We'll see you guys.
Speaker 3 (42:50):
Well, I don't know, maybe next week, maybe never. What
do you mean, man, well you never wear a third
you guys?
Speaker 4 (42:57):
You planning on going somewhere. No, I'm saying the show.
Oh okay, Eddie, uh you know, like Kevin, Kevin blow
usut with your goal with Hey, you gotta blow hard
on that. Soccer is the best apparently according to Paul Soccer.
Then fhoting. Then okay, go ahead, they're all arsenal dude.
Speaker 7 (43:12):
Ready yeah man, wow, that's not rich.
Speaker 4 (43:18):
All right, we'll see you guys soon.
Speaker 8 (43:20):
