Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's nine with Jenny Garth and Tori Spelling. Hey Hey, hey, everybody,
welcome to another episode of nine. O MG, how are
you guys? Oh my gosh, Hi, Hello, what's up? Sugarman?
(00:22):
We're back in school. Summer is over. Summer is officially over.
I was sad at first. Were you do well? The
same feeling as in real life when summer is over
and you have to go back to school. So sad.
That's the worst feeling, like the countdown and then the
night before you can't sleep because it's like you're seeing
(00:44):
people you haven't seen a while and you're feeling like
the nerves. And my kids go through it too, and
I feel for them. I'm like, I didn't feel that
way in college. Though you guys didn't go to real
college right now, don't, rub Ann, only California University. In college,
you get super excited because are like, oh, this is awesome,
but it's not live on your own. It's not a
(01:05):
sad day because it's it's going to be summer here
before you know it. That's right. It's a beautiful spring
day out today. I don't know how y'all are doing,
but it's pretty over where I live. It's cold though,
it's cold chili. Yeah, we have a cold snap, Like
I like the cold snap. I like that. I don't know,
(01:28):
but it's weird. You guys the weather be Tori. I
hope I don't overstep and asking you this, but how
do you feel you'd ever stepped in my life? Well?
This is like kind of might be sensitive, Like how
do you feel that you're growing up? Houses for sale? Oh?
I saw that? Okay, so I gotta say, like, well,
first of all, it's going for more than double than
(01:53):
what my mom sold. What are you laughing about? And
of course somebody else a number. The numbers are like
you look at the numbers are like is that a typo?
Because it's tell them what it's listed for your former home?
And sixty five million dollars it's listed for hunding million dollars. Um,
(02:16):
it's okay. You know me, I'm so like detached, like
it doesn't even feel like part of me that it's
like I can laugh at and be like this is ridiculous. Um,
it's people always think the biggest misconception there's a lot,
but is that I grew up in the house and
I didn't. I actually we moved there when I was
like seventeen, So I lived there for like two years,
(02:38):
and that was it. Where did you live before? Funny enough,
on the same street and a little bit smaller house
like how like a ten thou square foot house instead
of which is ginormous, like like never in my lifetime,
Well my kids ever be in that. But it's like
(02:59):
many how many fifty six thousand seven square foot in
this the second Yeah, that's I've never That's like a hotel. Jen,
I'm not gonna lie. I never saw every room and
I lived there two years. I am not lying. Stop
pause Are you saying for real that you don't think
(03:20):
you ever walked the whole house and went into every
single room? I swear to god? Why not? Were you
just not interested? Did you get tired? What happened? You know?
I get exhausted. I can imagine you getting over exerted. Yeah,
like walking that house, it was like just taking that
(03:41):
elevator up to the second floor was like too much
to handle. Um, Honestly, the there was there was a
wing that all of my mom's staff lived in, and
I just remember her saying like, oh, they need our faces.
So she actually never showed it to me. I didn't
see it before they moved in, so once they were there,
(04:02):
she was like, oh, it's kind of off limits because
that's where they live and we want to give them
their privacy. So there was a weeing you guys, a
wing of like so many bedrooms. But I gotta say,
when I saw that it was realisted, okay, one, I
was like, I just want to go in with a
realtor and and just is there an open house? I'm
(04:24):
just wondering we could pop by. Maybe we could just
quickly lock ourselves in a room and do one of
our podcast episodes there. Yeah. It would help them sell
it though, because you can't get it publicity. I just
I would like to take my kids because my kids
see it pictures of it, and they're like, what the heck.
When my mom sold it, Liam and Stella were alive,
so they were like babies, and so they went there
(04:47):
and we said goodbye to it, and I showed them
every room and took pictures, but they don't remember. Um.
So I would love to take my kids there and
be like, yeah, this is was Grandpa's house and everything,
so because they would love to have been him. But
the producer and me was like, God, wouldn't it be
great to get some money, some money bags on to invest,
like multiple investors too, like buy the house and then
(05:11):
for a TV show we could turn into like a
really chic chateau, like it's fourteen bedrooms. Oh my god,
Oh my gosh. I'd be a good reality show. So
if any of our listeners have some you know, change
laying around and you want to invest, let us know.
I just did the math of the fact of my
house is I believe feet. So I was like, Okay,
(05:36):
so that's my house fifty six times. But I honestly
like I like smaller places because I like cozy and homie,
and so moving into that house was I was happy
for my mom because it was her dream and I
wanted her to be happy. But I just remember feeling
(05:56):
like it was never like this is this is crazy.
We literally as a family spent the time in the kitchen,
my mom's office that we all like congregated in, and
our bedrooms and that was it. What about like a
family room or like a living room? Did you say
family room, Jenny? Did you go there? I did go there,
(06:20):
but I remember being there once or twice yeah, it
was pretty spectacular. When you drive after that, are you like,
what is happening? You feel like you're driving up to
a hotel? Like it's so it's like, you know, where's
the person that opens the door. There's probably a person
that opens your door? Right? Yeah? Probably? You know what
there should have been? Yeah? I mean she had everyone
(06:43):
else work there. Why not? I could literally do an
entire episode just talking about this. Did you flip through
the photos? I obviously did. I clicked immediately and was
like I did, And so okay, when I'm going to
get her name wrong, is it Petra Ecole seen? I
go yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. So when she bought it
(07:03):
from my mom, they redid it was super modern and
there was a lot of black and it was like, wow,
vastly different my mother. The one thing is she decorated
the entire house herself with a decorator, but like flew
to Europe and brought pieces back. She did an amazing job.
Was it fancy, yes, Like it didn't feel homey, but
it didn't feel like a hotel. It was warm as
(07:25):
warm as a fifty six thousand square foot house could be.
But um, she did a beautiful job and has such
great taste, but they redid it so much that I
was like, oh my god, this is like the opposite
end of the spectrum. Now I feel like it's a
little more, it's not as crazy. It looks pretty. Yeah. Yeah,
(07:46):
I wish we could stay at night there. How long
would it take you to walk from one end to
the other end you were like, I'm going to the pool.
Would you be like, oh, I'm we real thirsty When
I get there? You would pack an overnight bag and
hope were the best have flares in case you needed
to send out like an S O S. Yeah. God,
(08:06):
I don't want to move on yet. I'm so sorry.
Did you just did people sleep over? Yeah? I don't
think I never slept over. I think Ston used to.
Shannon used to sleep over a lot. Yeah, that was
when you and Shannon were really good, good close friends
at that moment, and she would sleep over and my
dad were like, this is so cute. It's like Brendan Donna,
(08:30):
could you go down the pjs? Could you like do
bad stuff with like drink or something, because like if
your parents are there, they wouldn't even know like a
mile away. My mom was on it, like my my
mom wasn't that type. Like she was the mom that
like was waiting for you when you got home and
was like your two minutes past curfew. Like. She was
(08:50):
always honest, so she knew where everyone was. Well. There
was also a security room with multiple security guards and
their cameras like in the entire so you really couldn't
do anything an intercom if your mom's like, dinner is ready. Sorry.
Just the thought of your first of all making dinner
(09:11):
and the thought of your mom calling y'all for dinner
with this got me laughing. Gen's right. Um, there was
on the phone we had like those old school phones,
and you could push it and like it would go
to everyone's room to tell them dinner was ready. Um. Yeah.
But there was like this lower level that was like
pretty cool where there was a bowling alley because my
(09:35):
dad was obsessed with bowling, so there was a bowling alley.
It had all of his awards, his Emmy's and everything
we're in there. Um personalized shoes like in bowling balls
that said a S fair and spelling um shoes of
all sizes, like beautiful ones in cases. So anyone that
came over, you'd be like what size shoe do you wear?
(09:56):
And here's your bowling shoes for the next hour or two.
There was a our room. There was like a billiards
room with art. There was an arcade game room. There
was a doll museum because what about the dolls room?
Um Amy, that wasn't a different floor and there were
two um so one new rabbatic she turned into a
(10:19):
Christmas wrapping room because the one wrapping room wasn't enough.
We needed a Christmas one and a barbershop, like for
a haircut. Yeah, did you get your hair cut there?
Now it was it was mostly my dad, but you
had a barbershop, but you never got your hair cut there?
Now I think she put like, no, she got her
(10:40):
hair what now? Now? Like I'm like, I think I'm
on fire because my garage has a TV in it. Now,
Oh my girl, are you fancy Tori? Before we go on?
Like I want to talk about the episode like I
can't fathom, Like I don't know, Jenny, can you Like
I can't fathom what that would be like No, I cannot,
(11:01):
Like that's your growing up house ish from seventeen to eighteen.
I was so disconnected. It was like, I mean, Jed
knows this about me, like things like that, especially when
I was younger, because people would make fun of me
for my dad having money like that was embarrassing to me,
It really was, and so I didn't I was so
(11:23):
disconnected that I just like it just was an embarrassment,
like embarrassment of riches. Like honestly, though, like it had,
I didn't enjoy it because I was just like, no
one should have this. This is just crazy. And and
my my dad was like me. My dad could be
in one room and you know, having his hot dogs
(11:44):
and his you know, he was just in his Coca
Cola and be like yeah, Like he was such like
a homey guy. So I was so like him. And
he really built that because it was my mom's dream
and he wanted her to be happy. He was so
in love with her, and so I was happy for her,
and I know, but yeah, was she happy there. I
(12:05):
think she loved it. She The funny thing is like
you would think, like this huge house in this backyard.
I think in the time time that she had it,
she threw two or three parties. She Prince Charles the
only party that ever her first party and one of
her only parties was for Prince Charles when he came
(12:25):
to town. He wanted to have it there. She had
a party for Prince Charles, and then I think she
had like one we had like Christmas Eve parties. They're
like that is where Luke punched out my bad boyfriend.
And then she had my first wedding there. Oh my god,
I don't even I was there. I don't even know.
(12:46):
I still am too. It's like I'm it's like I'm
looking at a movie and it's not really my life.
Like yeah, because it doesn't feel like a home. Yeah,
you're not. You're very not like that. No out if
you had, if you had all the money that you
needed or wanted, would you could you? Would you want
(13:07):
to do that for your kids now? And would you
want to have give provide them with something that extravagant?
Absolutely not, like I I feel like in our house now,
which isn't even that big. Sometimes we're too spread out.
Like I think I was the happiest when we had
a two thousand square foot house that we lived in
(13:27):
um because one there was one point where I was like,
I want to move to something small so we can
all be. It was like one level and I could
see them all. Like any room I went to, I
could hear them and see them, and that felt the
best to me. You're like a cozy and like a
big screen with like movie theater chairs. Everyone has those now,
(13:48):
Like a little room with like the lazy boy chairs
and a big TV Like that'd be cool so we
can all be together. Other than that, now, my bowling
game never improved. Yeah, I mean to be continued because
like I might have to come back to this on
another day. I mean, I'm sure if we really asked somebody,
(14:09):
we could get it too. We we could go and
get an appointment. I mean, they wouldn't believe we were
buying it, but yeah, I think we should do. They
would want a photo of you guys in there. Are
you kidding me? That would sell the house. Have somebody
make a call Jen and Sugarman you go with's okay?
(14:30):
If anyone knows who the realtor is, well, we could
google this ask them. If we could just stop by,
we won't take long. Is it on Zillo? Is the
house on it on my Instagram? Because I follow, um,
what's that Instagram? I follow like crazy houses or something?
To you, Yes, And it came up and I was like,
oh my god, let's do it. I think this is
(14:52):
going to be a good time. I'm going to give
this person a shout out. It below gone wild insta
double dog da are you. Let's just see what day
takes us Riley. Maybe Riley can work on that while
we're talking about the episode. I know, sorry to disappoint
you even, but we're going to move on to the episode.
I think, although we have a lot more questions for you, Tory,
(15:16):
but let's take a little break for some advertisements and
we'll be right back. Okay, So apparently someone's deem ng
about us getting into the manner to give it a
(15:39):
little bit. Maybe we'll have an update by the end. Yes,
stay tuned people, But but for now, let's talk about
season three episodes seven, Shall we a Song of Myself?
Letn't get the title? Aired on September so not says.
(16:00):
The gang returns to West Beverly for their senior year.
David finds himself in the middle of a triangle when
Donna gets paired up with Nikki as her senior buddy.
Kelly continues to struggle in seeing Dylan and Brenda together,
and Andrea's job as the editor in chief of The Blaze,
is up in the air after a new faculty advisor
is assigned to the class. Directed by Jeff Melman, written
(16:21):
by Chris Broncato and Kenneth Biller, this episode, we we
introduced one two new characters who stick around for a minute. Right, Yeah,
we have the the advisor, the faculty member you're talking about, Yeah,
doctor gil Myers almost called him doctor but he's remember
(16:45):
Mr Huh And of course uh. Sue Scanlon played by
Nicole tom who like really went on to become famous
on The Nanny. Yeah, she had a great career. Yeah,
she still has a great career. Yeah she did you
guys think of it? Overall? The episode overall? Well, you're right, Amy,
(17:05):
I didn't get the title A song of myself? What
is that? Who's singing about themselves? I don't Amy always
goes deep. How do you not know? So you don't
get for me? It was kind of Andrea maybe, but
like I just was like, let don't get it. Nobody
was singing myself. This was one episode when there was
no singing. Uh, But I mean I don't know. First
(17:32):
of all, yeah, back to school, you know, no more
beach club. I was a little bummed, but then seeing
like the gang in the quad and then David's back
on the mic. I don't know, it started to feel
good after I adjusted to because at first I was
like and then I then I came around and was like, oh,
(17:53):
this is this is juicy to What do you think?
I wasn't my ave episode. I gotta be honest, it
wasn't mine either. Yeah. I think it's setting us up.
Yeah they needed that. Yeah, its senior year. There's so
much story to get going to set up. It was
(18:13):
certainly chalked full of like secrets, Like I felt like
everybody had a secret in this episode. Yes, made me
a little tense in that respect, But at the same time,
the story was a little lagged a little for me.
I don't know if it was because it was kind
of like about something. I'm not that really interested in
(18:34):
the newspaper, you know. I don't know, I always lose
interest in the newspaper that I don't want to be rude.
Let's go, let's go bit by bit, all right, because
obviously we're going to talk about Brenda, Kelly and Dylan,
but let's first talk about the Juicy Donna and Nikki
of course get a sign to be buddies. And then
(18:57):
there's this just sort of like, oh my god, how
what a winkie ink that you get Nikki as your
senior buddy as your freshman buddy. Prazy how things just
happened that magical? Did you? Going back to the episode
not being our faith, there were two different writers to
new writers that I don't think had written before. I
(19:19):
don't know if they were a team. Um. The writing
just felt a bit different, too interesting. It wasn't lively
like I didn't there was no juice. It felt a
little flat, flat interesting, really interesting because as you know,
I wouldn't know that. Yeah, I mean I I enjoyed,
(19:42):
uh seeing Sue Scanlon though, I like, I was excited
to see what could happen with that character. And then
I was actually she shocked when she like you see
her while and out, like coming to school, change in
her clothes, smoking cigarettes in the bathroom, hanging out with
the kid. Nicole Tom was brought on, like Dana Baron,
(20:05):
to be this new cast that maybe was going to
take over when you guys went to college. I mean
that this is allegedly because this is what Dana told
us it's smart. I mean, if I was the producer,
I would say the internet said it to let's do
with the Freshman today, like Jen, Yeah, they have I mean,
(20:25):
they have a huge hit show. Why wouldn't he have
right then and there to a spin off? I mean,
I know they had Melrose Place, but that's an interesting thing.
So it would have been nine o two and oh
continues with these guys, and you guys would have gone
to call college years. That would have been a show too.
I would have been mad at that. Although I'm not
as interested in these guys as I am. You well,
(20:49):
I think, of course, because you have a you know,
now you're attached to these core characters and it's hard
to like bus somebody new in there, and that's against
McCole tom. But I'm more interested in Nikki. She's very likable.
I still love her fashion, I love her look, and
I thought, Wow, what a ballsy girl. That's like, hey,
(21:10):
you need to tell for a high school kid to
be like, you need to tell Donna what's up because
I'm becoming friends with her and like, you need to
do the right thing, which I think is a very
interesting parallel to what we're dealing with with the other threesome.
I know, it's very admirable that she's like, tells, David,
we have to do the right thing. You need to
tell her. It's so adult, Yeah, and makes her seem cool.
(21:35):
And obviously there's foreshadowing, but I'm not minding the like
bumping into brand. Yeah, it's so funny because she's so tiny.
Danna Baron is a tiny little lady, and um, she's
tinier you know Jason, he's not the tallest guy in
the world. So they're they're matching. They're pairing. Was perfect
(21:56):
as far as like size of people. Uh, And they
kept friend into each other and I was like, be
careful with her, she's tiny. Those those crashes looked really violent. Yeah,
he looked like he was like six three next to her.
Like I particularly hot too. I really like that sort
(22:17):
of plaid short just unbuttoned enough like he was really
hitting his stride. But he looked good too. But I
also kind of thought, well, he looks a little tired,
like there was and I think in the first scene,
I was like, whoa bags under the eyes? That was
was it a late night before? Hey? They were superstars
hunks like a large It was a rough weekend. Also,
(22:41):
I was kind of thrown because for the first time
I saw David and he looked more mature to me,
like I felt like it had been a summer break.
I felt like there had been a hiatus and he
had grown because he just kept growing. His puberty had
like hit its stride or something. And did he looked
more manly in this episode to me? I did, speaking Brian, um,
(23:04):
I did notice that, Uh they announced it was on
Sharona's page that they are having a baby boy? Is that? So?
Does he only have boys? Oh? My god? So I
was just like, oh my gosh. And I know, I
know he really wanted a girl. And I remember I
remember years ago he was I said, are you and
(23:25):
Megan going to have another one? And he's like, he
was like, it would be because we would both love
to have a girl. But I don't know, It'll probably
be another boy, Like you don't know that, Well, what
does this mean scientifically? So he has three different baby
mamas and they all are having boys, because does that
(23:48):
come from the man though it has to Here's what
I think, No disrespect to any man with boys, but
I think when you have a girl, you're those are
the st longer sperms? Oh, I heard that the girl
sperm whatever, however it works clearly not a doctor or
(24:11):
an expert are the stronger. They have to be stronger
to make a baby. Does it also happen? I don't
know anything about this that some some men have less,
you know, female sperms as opposed to male sperms, or
can that happen? Because that's crazy. It's got to be
(24:33):
a guy thinking doctor. We did a specialist five boys,
whoa WHOA good for them? Baby boy coming in July,
which is also Brian's birthday, So their son and Brian
are going to have birthdays really close together. That's awesome.
(24:54):
How did you feel about David and Donna in this episode,
especially the like gotcha? What that happened? With the gotcha moment?
Like that was clearly something that you and Nikki devised
because you guys have formed a friendship kind of camera
now and I don't know. I just questioned, like, would
(25:14):
that happen? Donna have done that? But it was kind
of a fun way to deal with it. That's a
really good question. And I feel like I don't know
because these kids are not teens like they're older, and
that's an older thing to be like, you know what now, Yeah,
we're gonna do this and we're gonna get him. But
(25:36):
I feel like Donna, who was so innocent and so
in love her first love was so pure. I feel
like she would be feel bad, very not upset. So
I don't feel like that would have been a Donna move. Yeah,
you handled it way too mature for my liking. Exactly.
She was real, real, real adult and chill about it,
(25:57):
like and then we all kiss somebody over the summer.
When you said when Donna said, you guys just kissed,
that's all we do? Oh? Yeah, set, we have so
much in common now I would have bald my eyes out.
Yeah yeah, realistically, Yeah for sure that you're like all
(26:19):
tight with this girl. Yeah, you bust him and then
you're like, come here and you give him a hug, right,
you all three best? You never would have happened. So, guys,
what do you all think of Mr gil Meyers? Well,
he has he has a scruffy beard. I don't know,
(26:42):
he's a little stuffy. Are you getting any kind of
a weird vibe? Creepy vibe is weird? Now? Oh, I
got a little creepy teacher vibes from him at times, Well,
you know what's going to I don't know what's gonna happen,
so don't see I do know what's gonna happen. Do
you remember? Yeah, you guys, something creepy happens. Are scandalous
(27:04):
not creepy? Yeah? Not candalous? Yeah, scanlous? Wait wait does
is it an Andrea? Mr? Myers? Oh? Then remember there's
the other thing coming. I don't want to what I
don't want to stop stoping what what else is coming?
(27:26):
Whisper it? Everyone closes your eyes. Okay, I don't want
to get it wrong, but it close your ears. It's
scan forgot. Yeah, it's he didn't do anything, remember, but
show you guys, you can't do this to me. Well,
we don't want to record, so we'll keep you watching.
But I did want it because I think I have
(27:47):
two things happening. One is I pretty much remember what happens,
and two is are we watching it with two wise?
Like where a teacher cannot be inappropriate? We're back then
maybe it was okay to be the cool teacher guy
the people called Gil and the whole thing. Yeah, the
teacher like that in school. The school that I went to,
(28:09):
I totally had a gil Meier's teacher. Did you have
a crush? Nah? No, But he was just like cool
and we all like we talked like we were all friends,
and we could like make jokes in class, and we
called him by his first name. And I went to
school where you never called anyone by their first name,
and he was just like we loved him. He made
history so much better. Yeah, I thought Andrea the way
(28:33):
she spoke to him was not the way a student
would speak to a teacher, Like there seemed to be
a little bit like, wait, you're not super respectful that
this teacher. Maybe because they were actually so close in age,
like it's like you know what I mean, the age
they felt very comfortable with one another. But bless her heart,
(28:54):
she lets him have it about being a sexist pig
like he was being. But I didn't at the at first,
I didn't really get that that was what was happening
with Andrea. I kind of just felt like she was
kind of like, you know, but her didn't want to
give up her throne to for Brandon, right, And also
it is sort of a teacher's job at the same
person sharing them all the time, and he obviously saw
(29:18):
something in Brandon. I thought the resolution was good. I
get it. It's not my favorite storyline either, but I
thought it was like, oh, there's some interesting stuff in here.
But it was all sort of is this how this
would really be? Yeah? It was. It felt weirdly mature again,
but Andrea was so that bumps me out a little
(29:38):
bit the more we go on. I guess I never
thought of it that way, maybe because we were young
and it was like, oh, cool, this is what we're like.
Maybe in our own lives we were like, oh, maybe
I'm a little immature. I don't remember like kids talking
this way. But then they wrote it for us, we
were like, cool, we'll still step into this role. Great,
But like, looking back, it does feel that way, and
it bumps me out. There's not a lot of moments
(30:00):
where they're just like kids. It gets just feel like kids. Yeah.
I mean, even when they have the barbecue at Dylan's house,
it doesn't feel like a barbecue with a bunch of
high schoolers. It feels like college everything. Having a boring
ass barbecue on someone's pattio. Yeah. Well, I guess before
(30:20):
we get to the like elephant in the room. Let's
talk about Susie Scamblin a little bit more. Didn't we say,
I know we've said before that it's Scott's sister, you guys,
I can't remember and I didn't look back. Was she
in any Was she in there before like the scene
where you know, Scott unfortunately kills himself, Like was she
(30:41):
in that family scene where they're having I don't think so.
This is Nicole's first appearance. I don't think so. I
wonder if there was a sister and it's a different
one now, I mean he had other siblings, were remember
a reference? But like, what do you think of her
being the good girl and then she's the add girl?
And second of all, would you even be allowed to
(31:02):
wear that at school? I mean what those outfits were?
Like crazy? It was a bra? Basically she was wearing
a bra at school. But that's you know, that happens now,
But I don't know that it was so like ahead
of its time, Like here we are and she's like
(31:24):
it's yeah, it's like workout gear they're allowed to be worn.
Transforms into the bad girls or mom doesn't know. It's
a little cliche, but very you know, but I remember
the mom of the Scantlin's is kind of someone you
would hired from, so it made sense that she would
be yeah, yeah, one of Yeah. I don't know. We'll
(31:47):
see where that goes. Because she's back, you know that there.
She's in for how many episodes? I think four to
six something like that. We'll see what happens with her. Hey,
same with Mr Myers. He's around for a while too.
So now there's the other the other nine O two
and oh podcast. We're allowed to speak with it. They
they are very nice to us what is it called?
(32:10):
And Larry and Pete Ferraro, who's amazing, and we've all
become friends with um but we all worked together. Like
He's always offering like, hey, I can get this. I
have this guest. I know how to get hold of her,
like you know here, so I just quickly there. He
knows everything, big big fan of nine two. I said, hey,
(32:31):
do you remember why the spinoff never happened? Like it's
online allegedly like and he said, I'll find out. I
don't know what they were planning, but they were planning
something and Brian was actually going to move to that show. No,
what have ruined? My life. Um, yeah, Brian going to
(32:55):
be in that. Your dad thought that Brian would be
a great link and kind of over there, and I
had that show because his biggest fears. He really didn't think.
He thought nine o two and no, as he knew
it was possibly done, that college years just wouldn't work. Well,
it makes sense. I was. I was nervous when I
found out this was their senior year. I was like, wait,
(33:16):
what high school's over? What's gonna happen to the show?
They sped it up because wait, okay, it first started
we were sophomores, I guess, and David was a freshman,
and then we were juniors. I mean they could have
kept one year. We kind of stayed twice, right, couldn't
they keep doing that a little bit more like making
(33:38):
it longer, like a little bit anyone would have said anything,
or you know, maybe we all flaunked and stayed back.
Who knows would you have been if suddenly Ryan Alson
Green was on a different show from you. I mean, yeah,
that would have just changed everything. I'm glad it didn't happen.
You guys same, But I still think is two worlds
(34:00):
where it could a world where they both could have coexisted.
But I guess, so, I guess that could be a fear.
If you have a number one show and it's a
hit show, and you're worried, like what if you do
this new spinoff and then no one does watch? You
really seal the deal and they're like, oh great, we'll
just stay. We could see West Beverly with a new
cast and possibly crossovers and one main cast member. Right
(34:24):
like Law and Order does it all the time. There's
fifty lawn orders and same with them, Chicago men, Chicago, God,
it could there could have been fifty. It could have
been the gift that kept on giving you guys decade
after decade. Well it kind of still is because look
at us here we are. Okay, I mean, should we
take a break and then talk about talk about it? Okay,
(34:46):
let's do it. Let's take a break, but first before
we talked about other stuff. I want to say. I
know people like sometimes like these little weird back behind
the scenes things. Okay, so you know in the Walsh
(35:08):
kitchen when um, they're having their barbecue with Jim and
Sandy first, and Dylan's there and Brandon and Brenda. Uh,
you know when they go out the kitchen door to
the barbecue area. Yeah, it looks really dark like it's nighttime.
And that's on a sound stage, you guys, so there
really was no outside. So in order to make it
(35:29):
look like that, I don't know, I just find this interesting. Uh.
They hang up a big black tarp which is called duvetine,
and it makes it look like black as night, and
then they just prop up some plants in front of
it and it looks like the dark night sky. Isn't
that cool? Did you ever know that it? In fact,
(35:50):
I like exactly what you're talking about when he goes
Dylan go to the barbecue. Also, Uh, I just I
realized in this episode that so clearly that Steve's hair
looks just like my dogs Andy's hair. I can't it's
(36:12):
you know, when you get your dog back from the
groomer and they have curly hair, and then when they
go to the groom or they like fluff it up,
like they blow it out, it gets real super fluffy.
That I'm looking at her now, I see now when
I look at my dog, I see Steve Sanders. So
you're you're saying those Steve Sanders had a poodle cut Yeah,
(36:33):
she's like she's a do you think hair or do
you think they did? Like because he is a hot guy.
We all know this, but like, yeah, that's why he
looks so much better now. Now we did what we
wanted when it came to hair. As we know, in
the seasons to come up, everyone's changing stuff. That was
(36:54):
his choice, that was a choice. Yeah, he likes a
good pick moment. You know when when he siling his hair.
It's all about some people like a round brush, like
a blowout or curling up. He's into the pic where
it like goes in and lifts it up, lifts it
up just a little. Let me just tell you, guys,
or let us just tell you that. You know, we
(37:17):
always think like girls take so long and glam and
boys are just in and out and effortless and they
don't really care. Every single one of those boys stood
in the mirror and made sure their hair was on
point every day. I think Brian probably the least, but Jason, Luke, Iron,
(37:39):
they'd all be there shell they were into actors, said boys,
I think you're just as much as the girls. Bottom line. Yeah.
Another thing that was really funny to me was when
Kelly was in her room working out and David, they're
having your cute little brother and sister moment she's wreaking
out with. Are those even weights? Like they're just like
(38:02):
it's like two two pounds? Like that's really going to
do anything? Kelly, come on, um, you know it's all
about repetition. It's not about way right. Repetition is so
bad with girls, Like what is going on? Who is
that Steve? He can't get a break? God? I think
it's his mentality at this point. He's just still such
(38:25):
a kind of immature dog. H Okay, So how did
you guys feel about what's going on with Brenda and
Dylan and Kelly? This is like the woman, It is
overwhelming and I feel like, gosh, I mean Dylan. Everyone
loves Dylan. I didn't remember, Like I'm starting like this episode,
I don't like him. Is that okay to say? Of course,
(38:48):
you can say whatever he wants here, Like I love Dylan,
but like, I don't know, I feel like really torn
about it in this episode. Like I am a full
Kelly Dylan girl. Everybody knows. I know we'll address that,
but it's I'm torn. I am I'm torn too. I
(39:12):
mean It's just it's gotten so convoluted and confusing to me,
as if you are watching it, like and and I'm
not liking Dylan as I'm watching and I'm thinking, well,
why would Kelly even be pining for him? Or it's
one things like Dylan loves Kelly, but Kelly is pushing
(39:35):
him off, so he's staying with Brenda. I'm sort of like,
what would have happened if Kelly would have said, you
need to tell everybody what happened, and you need to
step up, or you need to make a choice, because
he's sort of playing both sides of the fence, Like,
but why is he putting on her? Why doesn't he
just be like, I'm in love with you, I want
(39:57):
to make this work, like it's pissing me off, like yeah,
and also it's all her like she didn't want me
so but it's also the like the way he can
continue to light to Brenda like that, like straight to
her face. It's so upsetting to me. Were they worried that,
I mean, Luke was everything at this moment. Were they
kind of worried it paints Dylan in a bad light,
(40:17):
Like I wonder if that was a concern or it's
just it sucked everybody in. I mean, how about when
Tilly says you wouldn't Brenda have each other? And I
don't regret you that, but I don't have to sit
around and watch it with a perpetual lump in my throat.
It's like she's admitting to him this is painful. I
have feelings, this is awful. So I have a question,
how would a normal seven tyar will actually say that line?
(40:39):
Because that was whoa perpetual lump in my throat? You mean,
it's a good line, it's quotable, But how would like,
as a teenager, how would you just say that? You say,
get your together and get back to me. Let me
know what you want to do, because this is too confusing. Yeah, yeah,
(40:59):
you're fain You're you're messing with my head right now. Yes,
that the old earring in the sofa and then you
just tossed them, took that earring and tossed in the bushes.
Well there is that ear ring. Well, but Dylan made
me nervous with what a good liar he was because
he's like, oh, my mom was here and that's her earring,
(41:22):
and I was like home right, right, So quick with
that lie too. Here's the thing, this is a very
polarizing subject. People. We understand that, we fully get, and
we've we hear all of your comments, we read everything.
We know what everybody's thinking, and we're thinking the same thing. Um,
(41:43):
it's really hard to um to give this like a
a neutral objective uh you know podcasts because this is
this was my character and people want to hear from
Brenda's side of the story, and we want to make
(42:04):
that happen. We I think, you know, I mean, we
should do an episode where we hear from the Brenda
Dylan like that. I mean, I like that because we look,
You're right, it's hard to do it justice in this
Why do you feel like the three of us are
always like, oh, where does team Kelly? I think, yeah,
it's so funny, actually happened that waylaying that way Team Kelly.
(42:28):
I'm totally team Kelly. And I'm not even doing it
because I'm friends with you, Like I honestly watching it now,
like I'm still like objectively like as I'm watching and continuing,
I want to hold on because I love O. G. S.
And I love like holding onto the past and sentiment
and nostalgia, like, oh, we started with them, it should
be them. But as I'm watching, I'm just like, I
(42:49):
just want Dylan and Kelly together. Yeah, I do too.
I think they're more minuts. But we want to hear
from you guys. It wouldn't be great to have someone
pop on and and hear their version of why they like.
We've asked this before, and you guys have been writing
into us. Why you like Brenda, what do you like Abotter?
Why do you want them together? Well, let's do it.
Let's just tell everybody email us your messages, d m s,
(43:12):
post your messages on Instagram, and then we'll reach out
and let's have a full debate about it. Debate because
I'm like, I'm so I'm not even neutral at this point.
I don't I'm kind of starting to not even want
Kelly and Dylan to be together, honestly, So I don't
not that I want Brenda and Dylan to be together.
I mean that's fine. I kind of feel like that
(43:33):
might have run its course and I don't know where
if it's got legs and it's going to go further,
I don't know. But I just feel like, as a viewer,
like I want to protect Kelly because she's hurting so
bad at the end of this episode, and you can
just feel that. How about that line We'll find you
when Brenda says we'll find you a guy as great
(43:53):
as Dylan. I mean, I feel bad about this whole situation,
so I'm gonna take one for the team and possibly
recommend Dylan and Donna. I mean put myself on the
line for it. Just too much pain for you, guys,
so I will take it on. Let us know. Do
you think that's a good idea to dig into it?
(44:16):
But before we go, you guys, we have to talk
about fashion because something happened to me in this episode
that I literally was like, I actually can't believe this
is happening. What you like? Did you like some Steve
Sanders was wearing absolutely not to wait for this, So
obviously I was like a huge fan of nine o
two on that, like I would watch it. We all
(44:38):
know that I watched my sororiity blah blah blah. So
I'm watching the party scene at the end at Dylan's
and Brenda walks into the party and I'm like, I
have that sweater, Like I literally have that sweater now
still from the still So I think now it's because
(44:59):
it all came back to me because I've had so
there are three items of clothing that I have saved
in my closet since the nineties. Why I saved this
sweater at the time, I don't know, Like every time
I clean up my closet, I'm like, no, I can't
get rid of that. And I don't know why. But
I have this like special attachment. It is a d
K and why short sleeved sweater. It's the blue one
at the end with the sparkles on it and the
(45:22):
pearl buttons. So I'm in San Francisco right now. So
Riley went into my house in LF got the sweater
there there it is. Stop it. So I bought it.
And what I don't know is did I see it
and love it? It's so cute that note it's like
and I bought it at Loman's. Do you guys remember that?
(45:43):
Is it was probably expensive, like I didn't have like
DK and yeah, wait is it and I saved it?
Or was it back then? Was it like regular? But
it's just regular. It wasn't like crop. But I know
when when they got like this looks like it's for
a little girl. So yeah, and I have saved it
for thirty year. Oh my gosh, what were the other
(46:06):
two put in from the nineties? Wait? What what Tory?
What else do you have from the nineties? You said
you have two other peoples. I have a T shirt
from two from a cow game when it was a
big football shirt. And then I have this other, um
Diane von Furstenberg top that I just can't it wouldn't
fit me. But it's like an art. It's like so
(46:30):
that house that sweaters moved from house to house in
Latin Here Brenda was wearing it, and I must have
got it because I saw it. Obviously I didn't get
it before I got it. You think what if maybe
maybe you got You got it because you were such
a got it because I saw it. Yeah, I got
(46:52):
it because of the show. Because if it was at Loman's,
that means it was like seasons later. Okay, obviously you
guys like your detective work, like the baseball dress, please
you guys that I've tried to find that baseball dress,
like the Mosquito dresses were like so Donna, like just
so like it was a baseball like it was I've
(47:13):
tried to find that online. That's one of the ones
this episode. Yes, how did I not see that? And
they're also it was like a white dress but it
has a little red stitching like a baseball and that
was like it was a mosquito And I tried to
find musquito dresses and like they must exist somewhere out
there like others, and I can't find them. I felt
anyone else where to find Donna's like musquino dresses, like
(47:36):
with eyes on it and here with baseball and like
all those dresses. Let me know you have that uh
Sandy from Grease outfit to like you were wearing all
black and it's Donna never wears black. That was bizarre
for me to see. Yeah, I felt a character like,
but you look really cute in it, thank you. I
liked it. Epic fashion, And I think Nikki's fashion is
(48:00):
so good amazing, Like she wears stuff that I would
totally wear today. Well, and she told us that she
made like all of that stuff. She should totally now
is the time to bring it all back because the
nineties are in. She should be like, what, NICKI war
make it again? Just saying I'm already on the eBay
looking for the baseball dress. I've tried, amy I cannot
(48:24):
find it. That's the one I really desperately wanted. Was iconic,
and then all of a sudden it was just in
this episode. But it's not like it was creative for
Donna like it was. I'm pretty sure it was Mosquito
or maybe it's not, but I am sure where is
that dress? Yeah, the fashion was and how they have
to budget. Well, I mean the budget, but like Mosquito,
(48:46):
like is a huge designer. I just remember all like
Donna's dresses like that. That's true. You're right. It was
legit because DK and mysel around. But at the time
it was legit and I had to wait till it
like got marked down, got marked down, and I still
remember it being expensive, like I That's why I saved
it too, because I'm like, it must have been like
(49:06):
in the hundred hundred dollars or something, which at the
time I was in college, I had a hundred dollars.
Will you wear it one? Yeah? Maybe, I don't know.
If it let me try and like kind of obsessed
with your sweatshirt. I didn't see it till you got
excited A few minutes ago. I got this It's wild
Fox and this was on eBay. I get all my
nine outo one other stuff on eBay. We'll find that
(49:28):
baseball dress. Okay, please let me know. So. Yeah, So Jenny,
how are you? So? How do you feel about like
the love triangle before we go? Yeah, I don't know.
I'm I'm I'm a lot like Kelly right now, super
confused by it all. I feel hurt. I feel kind
(49:51):
of really caught up in It's sort of very similar
to Kelly. I feel like we need names, like they
didn't do names back then, but you know how they're,
you know, benefit and things like that, like, Okay, so
Dylan and Kelly and Dylan and Brenda, we need like
a name for them. M hmm, right, what would it be?
Brenda Lynn, Brenln, Dylan, Dilda No, no, Dilda? What Kelen? Yeah,
(50:24):
you didn't really even talk about how Andrea. We need
so much more. We might have to do like a
two parter. Andrea is like off the rails, but we'll
talk about that later. Okay, we know she'll be fine.
She's always fine. This is a dense episode, and I
had like a lot happening Steve's shirts still suck, although
they get better when he unbuttons them a bit. Yeah,
(50:45):
I felt so too, Like when he's at the barbecue,
he looked kind of odd ugly. I don't know. Well,
I'm excited for this debate. Should we do that? That
will be the next thing we do. Let's do it. Yeah,
I think made is the wrong word. It's at a debate.
We just want to really show both sides of the story,
and we want to represent all of the listeners that like, like,
(51:05):
are so committed to loving the show and loving the podcast. Like,
We're not trying to be one sided, and we want
to hear from you and I am we could we
have could we pick a couple of listeners to actually
pop on and just tell us their side because they
can write in and we can read it. But I'd
love to hear how we get passionate about it. Okay,
(51:27):
definitely yes, And I'm not going to back down. I'm
staying strong on Brenda. Well, I always an open invitation
for Shannon to come on and talk about Brenda and
Kelly and Dylan and all of it whatever she wants to,
so course, but if we could have one of each,
(51:47):
like not that we're calling it a debate, but it
would be cool to see them talk to each other
and get passionate and we can just sit back, have
some wine and watch it unfold. Yeah, so one one
team Brenda, one team Kelly. Thing, do come in with
your passions and yeah, we need it isn't a debate,
but it's almost a debate. We need like a name
(52:08):
for this a boxing match. Um, someone just said Brayley Lynn. No, no,
Brayley Lynn No, that's all the word. Oh well, Dylan
should come in the middle, so you should. You have
to bookend him, right, So I want to start with
(52:31):
Kay and not because I'm partial. I just feel like
it's like, like GE's a sin. I don't know. This
is hurting my brain, Calenda, So everybody hit us up
on the Instagram. That's the main thing. We got to
go to the Instagram so we can find the best
that the best Kelly people, the best Brenda people, the best,
and we're gonna bring you on. So let us know
(52:52):
this is gonna be fun. Okay, but but before that
or is that going to happen next week? Yeah, alright,
let's do it and then we'll after that, we'll jump
into the next episode. Okay, yeah, alright everybody, So we
have a pass on homework this this week. I guess
we don't have to watch another episode. I love when
we get thank you hot for teacher right now. Thank
(53:13):
you she just told us we don't have to do
our homework. Yes, everybody, I hope you have a great week.
To love you, guys.
